The food was good, but service was lacking. We ordered drinks & food all at once just to assure or kids didn't get bored or cranky with being hungry. Turns out part of our order was screwed up, so they had to redo it. Infant child got hungry despite our feeding him just before we left for the restaurant.

After having a very poor experience a few months back, we decided to give this particular Old Chicago another shot. 1st.. a couple months back it took over an hour to get our food.. And the appetizers arrived at the same time as the main course.. We sent the appetizers back and complained to the manager. He offered some excuse, but didn't bill us for our food and drinks. This time, we didn't order the appetizers. The place was not too busy, and it still took 50 minutes to get our food. My calzone was wrong. I did a build your own calzone.. and it arrived with onions.. whcih I did NOT want in my calzone. The other calzones in our party were not well done... and the bread was very "doughy". My sons Burger was just OK. With two bad visits, we will probably write this Old Chicago off.

It was very good. The appetizer was delish Italian nachos. I uploaded a photo of that as well. We were stuffed, we ordered a calzone which was packed with goods. And a 8" pizza. Service was alright. Waiter was very polite.

It's an "OK I'm starving lets eat" restaurant. I prefer to eat at the bar as they are fast and friendly. Table service always leaves me disappointed and hangry. My favorite thing to get here are the jalapeño pretzels and the mediterranean salad. We continue to go here when we're last minute dining - so consider that an endorsement.

Why. Why. Why. There are so many better pizza places available to us. Why do we wait 30 minutes for a table in a half empty restaurant? Why are there 3 hostesses to seat people waiting in a half empty restaurant? Why do they stand there gossiping and twirling their hair when they can grab a tray of food and feed the people seated in the half empty restaurant, you know because the lobby is full of people waiting to be seated in the half empty restaurant. These are some of life's great mysteries. I've got better places to spend my money, thanks.

After a previously poor customer service experience here, my wife and I decided to give them a 2nd chance. We quickly discovered the service in the last 60 days has not improved and honestly may have gotten worse. Upon entering the restaurant we noticed no one was there to greet or seat people and this is at Noon. After about 5 minutes of waiting the hostess finally came back, looked at us and asked who's next? We were finally seated and then waited another 10 minutes for the waitress to come by and take our drink order. Our drinks were delivered in a timely manner and we placed our food order. I thought we ordered food that was simple and fast, but apparently I was mistaken. My wife ordered a salad from the menu and I ordered the lunch buffet with side salad. 20 minutes after ordering I finally received my side salad yet no other food had been delivered. After 30 minutes my wife's salad was finally delivered. I made my way to the pizza buffet at that point only to be disappointed with not only the selection of pizzas but the quality. They had 6 pizzas available, 2 cheese, 2 pepperoni and 1 supreme and 1 tavern style. All of the pizzas noticeably lacked toppings and were all deep dish crust. I understand the concept of a buffet but for $9.00 a head, I would at least expect to have some toppings on the pizza. To make the experience that much poorer, drinks were refilled 1 time during the entire visit even as they sat empty on the table. It is clear that this restaurant is not interested in customer service or satisfaction and I highly discourage anyone from eating here at this point.

Came to Old Chicago @ Shadowlake for lunch during my weekly lunch date with one of the children. Overall, happy with the level of service(drinks were never empty) and food. I got the half Calzone and Soup and my son got the kids burger and fries. The soup(I think it was a green chile) was great. My Meat-Me calzone was also pretty good. The flavor was great, my only complaint would be seemed a little more doughy then I remember them on the bottom. My son's burger was average, but he loved his fries. If it wasn't lunch I would probably have hit up their huge beer selection. Maybe next time.

Disappointing. One of the members of the party ordered an individual deep dish pizza. Kitchen didn't keep the other plates warm while waiting for it to get done. Our strawberry lemonade was missing the strawberries. Sad. And what happened to the marinera sauce? Call it tomato paste - cause that's what it is. No seasoning just tomato. That was served on the pizza and with the mozzeralla sticks. I miss the old recipe.

3rd time recently eating at old Chicago with 3 poor experiences. Overcharged, undercooked and lukewarm food, poor service. No sauce in the veggie calzone--was bland, no drink refills. Bad luck here or a pattern?? I think I'm going to regift the gift cards.

(Posted by husband) So...decided to take the wife and kids out for mothers day to Old Chicago. Sat down and waited...waited so long that I decided to start timing. After waiting another 10 minutes for ANY waitress to even take our drink order, we decided to get ready to leave and watched as the table behind us sat down and was immediately served. To make things worse the table we were sitting at was directly in front of the server station with 6 servers going back and forth. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE SERVICE and will NEVER go back and or recommend ANYONE to visit this deplorable eating establishment! If I could give this no stars, I would, but it's making me post at least one star.

Bartender rude when asked to put Cubs baseball game on. Our waitress running around busily & other waitress not helping out in the bar...drinks sat up at bar long time...need to work on politeness to customer & teamwork!!!

Great selection of domestic, import, and craft beer. Great place to come grab a drink too. They're open later, but they don't get very crowded. This is more of a Happy Hour place. So, at 6PM it's packed, but at 9PM you can almost have the place to yourself and I love that. Crowded noisy bars are for twenty-somethings that think noise + chaos = fun. Food is okay. I like their Tavern Thin pizza, but I'm sad it only comes in small or large and not medium like the other crust does. They really don't have much variety here. The menu is big and deceiving, but basically they have pizza/calzone, mac-n-cheese, and spaghetti pie. Toss it a couple of appetizers and 1 or 2 generic things like burgers and that's it. Their menu is so large it would have you thinking they have a ton to offer, but if you don't want pizza and don't want to build your own mac=n-cheese or spaghetti pie, then you shouldn't be here. Service really varies by server. I've come here and had awesome service and I've come here and had awful service. There's not a lot of consistency with the service level (at least it's not consistently bad either). Overall, an okay place to go. If you're not here for the beer selection then your money can probably be better spent somewhere else.

We came in for lunch and a beer on a Friday afternoon and received so much more. My wife and I both ordered personal size pizza's. They were loaded with fresh toppings and tasted great. Each came with a side salad that were also very good. The thing that surprised me most was the excellent service we experienced. They have a huge beer selection which was a bit overwhelming at first, and here is where their service really kicked in. The server was patient and explained the beer menu. When she brought our drinks, she mentioned the "tours" and how they work. I attempted to sign up on my phone but was having trouble when the manager came by to ask how the food was. Without hesitation, he helped me navigate through the process. Then explained how their tours, events, and promotions work. He really went out of his way for us and we had a great experience. Needless to say, I'm signed up and on my first tour. I highly recommend you give this place a shot.

Gets worse each time I go...to the point of refusal to go. Years ago when I went the quality of food was outstanding. However, with in recent going the crust gets more burnt, the toppings become less, and staff is forgetful and unpersonal. I hate to narc, but I don't enjoy eating there anymore.

Jalepeno pretzels were fine kinda bland for being jalenpeno. Basically just warm pretz with cheese. Chicago 7 pizza thpugh is amazing. Solid solid pizza.

I used to be a permanent fixture at this Old Chicago location until recently. On the past few visits something has drastically changed with the pizza. The taste that I've grown to expect has morphed into to something awful. Even the presentation is different as they have scaled back on the toppings but ramp too far up on the cheese. Perhaps someone in the kitchen believe if they pile on the cheese the one pepperoni or sausage crumble would be overlooked. I have officially taken Old Chicago off of a pedestal and now look elsewhere to satisfy my pizza fix. Or I stick to the chicken caesar salad which is plain but incredible .

In a nutshell, every part of my order was wrong. The mozz sticks were undercooked. The server apologized and happily returned with new and hot sticks. My side caesar was mostly the bitter end of the romaine and not the hearts. There was celery in my salad. YUK! The calzone came out, I ordered a create your own-double pepperoni and italian sausage. It came immediately after the new mozz sticks and my calzone was packed with mushrooms. I had to send it back. Mark said his individual pizza was good. Mark was finished his pizza by the time my calzone came out, which was correct the second time. The calzone did have some green pepper in it, but only a few, so I just picked them out. It was like a few had fallen in while they were making it. Maybe the same thing happened with my salad. Which makes me wonder about the quality and care of food preparartion with ingredients being mixed incorrectly. The server was the high light of our visit. If anything, she saved us from an absolutely horrible experience. She offered soup or something while I waited for my recook on the calzone. She also made sure that the calzone was taken off the bill. Which made me start wondering that she must have had to go to a manager to have something taken off the bill, but this person did not see fit to come and visit the table that had to send food back twice??? We told her this was our first visit ever. We were not impressed with the kitchen's performance or the manager's reaction to that poor performance. On a side note, the restaurant had been recently remodeled. It did look good except for two things. Once you enter the entrance it looks as though you were coming in a side door. Also, there was a 10 inch rip in the booth cushion where we were seated. We might give this restaurant another shot based off the server and the location.

Sanitized, faux-rustic chain restaurant atmosphere. Really uninteresting food. Surprisingly drab pizza for a place that calls itself a pizza joint.

One of the few places I know if that can make a Tom Collins. This place has quite the menu selection from salads, pastas, pizza, burgers, and shrimp and steaks. Great service and very friendly staff. They also boast 110 different beers.

This place has kind of become the default place to grab a late night beer and some 1/2 price appetizers when I visit the midwest every now and then. It's close to home, the staff is always friendly, and on the latest visit an employee had enough sense to override the jukebox when it seemed to be stuck playing crappy emo soft rock that no one was requesting. Kudos to him!
