I had the chicken gyro which was a bit dry but tasty. The fries were good. Service was fast and friendly and the prices were good. I'll be back.

Stopped in to grab a quick breakfast after bicycling on the new Dexter bike trail on a sunny Saturday morning and was surprised to see the place completely filled up with diners. On other occasions that we had been here it was noticeably slow with mostly empty tables. Despite the business of the Coney, we were really impressed with the genuine friendliness of our server. I was wondering if that may have been the change and could explain why the place was brimming with customers this morning. After perusing the typical Coney menu, I was drawn to the Monterrey Omelette which combined sausage, onions, jalepenos and cheddar with sour cream and salsa on the side. At $ 7.50, I found it to be competitively priced and quite flavorful while it brought on the moderate jalepeno heat. I had made a special request of our server when I placed my order to ask the kitchen to cook my omelette soft. Surprisingly, Alpha's cook accommodated my request! I always ask for a soft omelette when ordering but only get my wish about 30% of the time. I know craziness of the kitchens of most Coney Islands...especially on a busy Saturday morning...so actually getting my eggs light and soft is a noteworthy event in my book. Nice job on the enjoyable b'fast. Four big ones.

Great breakfast specials . Great service. I love the chicken gyro at lunch. Skillets are great for breakfast. Good value for your money. The owner runs it and is in there everyday.

Cold breakfast two times in a row. Wait staff were more interested in chatting then serving customers.

It's diner food for a cheap price. The service is great. We go here for a quick meal when we are running errands nearby.

Lunch at Alpha Coney Island is a sure thing hit. Lots of specials (see pics). Today enjoyed the Gyro and Baby Greek Salad. Other good Greek combos available...for $6 or less. The salad is not small, but really enough to satisfy a light appetite. Lots of mild Feta, Pepperoncini, olives, beets and one of the most delicious Greek dressings I've had (on the side). The Gyros are stuffed to the max with lots of fresh-scraped gyro meat, Tzatziki Sauce, mild onions and tomato. Pita is fresh, fluffy & chewy. Nice. All for $6. Thanks to Paula for friendly and great service (which is always the case here).

Service - Friendly, prompt, professional. Food - Typical Coney Island: tasty, greasy, quick. Atmosphere - Booth seating, cheesy pictures of the parthenon, acropolis, and other greek ruins, old people shooting each other suspicious glances. Cons: Coffee was a little burned (granted I was there for late lunch) and there was no newspaper available to read. Price was a little high. Apparently this place is under new management. Total: TWO AND A HALF STARS

This place was a regular stop for me. The food is always mediocre but the atmosphere is generally good. I often meet my in laws here for breakfast or lunch but the whole family came in on Mothers Day for lunch. Granted it was busy but my sons chicken gyro was so bad and the chicken so dry he couldn't eat it. ANY of it. They also changed the menu and began to make the dish I always eat with potato slices instead of hash browns (but never mentioned it). It was a completely different taste and the potatoes were under cooked. I did not like it this way. When I was paying they asked how everything was so I told them. Keep in mind I was NOT looking for anything for free but rather for them to hear how I felt (as bad as everything was and the fact the waitress even stood there and helped the manager make the excuses for the horrible food I still tipped OVER 20%). As opposed to apologizing or making ANY effort to make it right, the manager made excuses. They obviously didn't care what I thought when they asked how everything was so why bother to ask? If you truly do not care about your quality, sorry, regardless how convenient the place is I will never spend a cent there again! And if you don't care don't ask what I thought!! Get a clue!

This is what I expect at a Coney Island Restaurant in Michigan. Lots of activity, just enough staff to server me, fill my drink when it empties, and bring me hot, tasty food. The meal was great, took a pic of it. The cucumber sauce was well portioned on top, which I love, since it helps the onions and tomatoes slide together. I am not a fan of raw tomatoes, but eat them in dishes like this since they add flavor to the meat and sauce. I give this place 4 stars, would give it 5 if they had gotten my order correct on the charge slip, they attempted to add a drink to the bill, but i caught it and they corrected at check out with no problems.

Alpha is my mainstay breakfast place now that the Lighthouse closed. When the place first opened it left a lot to be desired, but the food, service, and overall appeal improved dramatically about a year ago. Service is quick and the place is small and cozy. Business has really picked up since they are the only breakfast place in town now, but it seems they still keep up the fast service. Standard breakfast / coney food, done right, to order, just the way you would expect it from a diner. Because it is EXACTLY what I would expect from such a place, they get 4 stars from me. Good place for a basic breakfast.

I was not impressed by the quality of service I recieved at Alpha. The waitress gave me a refill too soon, while the other person had to wait until we were almost done dining. Someone in the party got a Chicken Gyro and mini Greek combo, and was charged for the special and an extra mini greek. We had to have this corrected at the register. I was asked how I wanted my Burger, and I stated "medium". It came back well done, I wasn't surprised since I don't know how you would cook anything "medium" when it was that paper thin. It didn't feel like I'm at a real Coney, anyway. The Coneys that I remember don't ask you how your want your burger or accept credit cards, or charge extra for fries.
