My family and I spent Christmas Eve at the Rittenhouse Restaurant. It was absolutely lovely. The food was fabulous and Julie, our server, was so joyous! She really brought the spirit of the holiday to our evening at the restaurant. My favorite order from the evening was the "Santa Baby" cosmo (to accompany my wild mushroom soup and salad complete with goat cheese and chocolate shavings). It was delicious- and Julie's own creation! The peach, champagne, ginger sorbet to cleanse our palates was also fantastic. Great place. Looking forward to visiting again!
Thoroughly enjoyed our 3-course lunch and the wonderful presentation on the house's history. We inadvertently "crashed" a tour group's lunch and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating and cordial. Highly recommended to Bayfield, WI.
My wife and I decided to spend our 10 year anniversary at The Rittenhouse (one of the locations we stopped on our honeymoon). We stayed here both before and after and our experience was one of the reasons we booked it for our honeymoon and again for our 10 year anniversary. The good: - Nice decor (we booked room 12) - Great views - Fantastic food! (Whitefish, mixed green salad, Cajun crawfish... you name it!) - The breakfast was amazing! Nancy and Julie were both personable, friendly, and super attentive! The not so good: - My wife discovered the in room coffee pot had not been thoroughly cleaned when she received coffee grounds in her morning tea - The hostess was polite but attentive or personable (just 'went through the motions') - The wait staff were not attentive or personable. At dinner I asked for bread (included), drinks (and refills), and for my water to be refilled twice (each time I gave the server sufficient time, so as not to seem rude or pushy) - After dinner we sat on the porch swing and decided to have another drink. I went inside, but no staff were present. I went in 5 minutes later and found a server at the hostess station (she was friendly, took our order, and delivered it to us on the porch) - Another couple was on the porch as well and their server was very personable to them but would not acknowledge us (no smile or service) Bottom line: - We loved the decor, the view, and especially the food! - The service was no where near what it has been in the past and my wife agreed their standards appear to have relaxed - The Inn itself is still a great place, but the level of service has declined. We hope it will return, but plan to stay elsewhere the next time we visit Bayfield

What could you possibly want that you couldn't find here! This is THE most amazing restaurant experience we've had in forever! From the amazing staff to the atmosphere & finishing up with an outstanding meal. I so glad We could write this review which means we had an excellent experience!
We had an 8 pm reservation at Wild Rice on Thursday, August 27. This is a review to comment on service (and attitude) and not on the food which was very good and also - for a fine-dining establishment - very generous. Good Wisconsin portions! However, here's the beef... One, the wine stewart came to our table and asked my boyfriend if he wanted help with the wine list. My boyfriend said that he was having a beer first, but then would switch to wine. The wine steward or sommelier said he would come back. We never saw him again. We asked our server about splitting the soup on the first course and the entree as we like to taste everything but really love it when the restaurant will split things. No, there is a $6 charge for splitting. Why? The restaurant was nearly empty at the beginning of our meal - how could that have been a burden for the kitchen? Personally, I find that offensive and realize that there are restaurants in LA and NY who are doing this but, when we encounter this, we rarely return to one of these establishments. Two, the server, while quite nice, admitted she knew nothing about wine - but nor did she volunteer to bring anyone over. Finally, we ASKED HER to bring the wine steward, who was not the original guy, but someone who we could see chatting in the kitchen (open kitchen). My boyfriend ordered the Bison steak (very delicious) but he asked the server if he could have some mustard with it and we were told that they don't serve anything additional to the way the dishes come out. Really, customer service... Lastly, they served the cheese plate, which was very nice with some very mushy, sweet, wild rice bread. We asked if we could get some of the delicious, crusty bread that had been served to us throughout the meal. Again, no. They had put away the bread (and/or) it was all thrown away! We came away with a very bad taste in our mouth about Wild Rice!
Visited Wild Rice on July 3rd. Perfect date night. Staff was great and helpful. Setting is unmatched in northern Wisconsin. Not a place for young children, enjoy an adults only fine dinning meal. Order the whitefish and trout, buffalo tenderloin with cheese cake and crime brûlée for dessert. You will not be disappointed. Ps.... You need to visit both the men and ladies bathrooms, they are total opposites design wise. Love the attention to detail.

Always good service and an interesting menu. I like the buckwheat pancakes and chicken sausage, although that is a lot of food (especially since the combo always includes two eggs). My husband usually has the crabby bennie (eggs benedict with crabcakes) and it is good, and so are the hash browns. Sit in the "porch" if you can, for the breeze and the views.
Great breakfast food. You really can't beat Bayfield jam! The servings are ample - I ordered a side of hashbrowns and I was brought a heaping pile on a dinner plate - just what you need before a day of sailing, biking, kayking, hiking, or whatever it is you are doing.
I've been here lots of times over the years. It's crazy busy in the summer and during the apple festival, and the waits can take a really long time. It's only open for breakfast/brunch. I love its wierd orange and red tile floor. Everything is delicious, but I recommend the apple chicken sausage most of all. The french toast filled with cream cheese is wonderful but it's a bit much. On the expensive side for breakfast, which is my main complaint.

Great little place....the bar is unique. The bartender was so friendly and very informative on Bayfield. The liquor options here are incredible and you will be happy you decided to enter this bar. Also, there was a nice mix of locals and tourists here.

We stopped in here after our evening cruise of the Apostle Islands and were seated right away. Our service was a little slow but our waitress was manning 7 tables at once (and was doing a great job!). We really didn't mind the wait anyways. I got the BBQ burger and my husband got the whitefish platter. Both were very good. Again, we did have to wait; this really didn't bother us though. I guess if you're going to visit Bayfield, be okay with waiting...you should be anyways, this is the place to relax!
Well, my fiancée researched this place and it was a good deal. We both had the surf and turf. She had the trout and I had the whitefish. Our meals came out fast and I enjoyed our side dishes too. The soup was good as a starter but would have wished for a salad. The mixed vegetables were good but the portion was small. Afterwards, we walked around but the shops closed early for a Saturday evening.
The best fish fry in the world. Whitefish, trout, or northern it is crispy light and filling. Eat while overlooking the bay and watch the sailboats come and go. Tuesday night listen to music in the park from the patio. Great time and great place. Upscale sea fairing meal. Top it off with cool off the tap beer. Dance the night away.
