Always good service and an interesting menu. I like the buckwheat pancakes and chicken sausage, although that is a lot of food (especially since the combo always includes two eggs). My husband usually has the crabby bennie (eggs benedict with crabcakes) and it is good, and so are the hash browns. Sit in the "porch" if you can, for the breeze and the views.

Great breakfast food. You really can't beat Bayfield jam! The servings are ample - I ordered a side of hashbrowns and I was brought a heaping pile on a dinner plate - just what you need before a day of sailing, biking, kayking, hiking, or whatever it is you are doing.

I've been here lots of times over the years. It's crazy busy in the summer and during the apple festival, and the waits can take a really long time. It's only open for breakfast/brunch. I love its wierd orange and red tile floor. Everything is delicious, but I recommend the apple chicken sausage most of all. The french toast filled with cream cheese is wonderful but it's a bit much. On the expensive side for breakfast, which is my main complaint.

  • Emily S.

Oh man, I haven't been here in years! They really do have a great breakfast menu. I remember getting the Buckwheat pancakes, and having them being the best thing I've probably ever eaten! They really are good. The Bayfield jam they serve is delicious, as well as the Apple butter.. Those two things are what helps make Bayfield a wonderful place. This place is always busy and there is usually a wait, be prepared for that, and please wait... It is sooooo worth it!

Best breakfast for the money in Bayfield. The omelets are huge. This place gets pretty crowded on weekends during the high season, so plan accordingly.

I would catch a grenade for these biscuits! Friendly staff. Maybe a wee bit too much black pepper in my sausage gravy.

  • Katrina H.

Great food! There is a lot of love put into creating the meals, and it shows. Friendly, attentive, and patient staff. Corned beef hash is made from scratch, sausage is fresh (definitely not store-bought...or if it is, I need to know where they got it!), and they have fresh picked fruit! Better get there early...it fills up fast on a Saturday morning.

  • Steve Y.

Great portions, excellent fresh ingredients, sat at counter by window to kitchen, saw amazing meals coming out. Pecan roll looked amazing, huge egg white omelets, my buckwheat pancakes with fresh organic maple syrup were outstanding. Get here early for breakfast to avoid a wait.

Kudos to the Egg Toss for offering half portions! I'm an average-sized lady with a normal appetite. I'm hesitant to return to places that force ridiculous, ginormous meals on everybody because wasting food should be criminal. Keeping leftovers is a concern, particularly for vacationers. Anyhow, the food here was just right. I had the blood orange mimosa and the half crabby benny and it was absolutely perfect. My husband had the queen's huevos rancheros and a bloody. It was so delicious, we're considering coming back again tomorrow.

  • Mervyn L.

Come with a hearty appetite and ready to eat brunch. Portions are very generous and the quality of the food is very good. Staff are very friendly and all around a good small town breakfast experience. There is also a good choice on the menu for all tastes from healthy to decadent and we found them very willing to make substitutions. Had the Orchard platter and give it two thumbs up.

  • Linda S.

I am an eggs benedict kinda gal. They have several choices for this. I picked the crab cake benedict. It was sooo good. I'm not kidding. the poached egg was done perfect and the cakes were amazing. Service wasn't great but the food was outstanding and the bread was really good.

  • Joe C.

Egg Toss is great! So many wonderful and unique breakfast items. Crab Benny was delicious. The Egg-Ceptional was also terrific. My wife claims the baking powder biscuits are the best she has ever had. Carmel rolls are a great way to start the meal. Oh, the sausage gravy and biscuits are killer as well. Such a wonderful place.

  • Sheryl M.

It's hard to screw up breakfast. Ate here twice while vacationing in Bayfield. Didn't fall in love with the huevos rancheros, as they lacked a Mexican flair. The veggie omelet was stuffed full of veggies. The bacon was thick and crisp and breakfast was served with a side of local raspberry jam which was tasty.

    (4)
  • Jan A.

Had a great breakfast of Lake Benedict and potatoes. It was a wonderful balance of flavors with spinach and lightly smoked fish. Hollandaise sauce had just a hint of heat. Bayfield apple cider was a real bonus. Service was great. Prices reasonable.

Great service, food was just okay. Got the Wisconsin omelet, with coffee ( a little weak). Overall it is decent but not amazing.

I have been to Bayfield many times and I went to Egg Toss for the first time recently. The breakfast was exceptionally good. I had the Queen's Huevos Rancheros and it was tasty indeed. It is very crowded on weekends, which is to be expected, but worth the wait. HOWEVER, you would think with such a good coffee roaster just a few blocks away that their coffee would be excellent. It is NOT! :( Get some of the local coffee and the rating would be 5 stars from me. The coffee left me a little down- and I went to find some good stuff!

  • Marisa B.

The first morning, my husband and I had eggs and pancakes. The buckwheat pancakes were really fluffy and tasty.. Great breakfast! The next morning I decided to get the Crabby Benny. It was incredible! The crabcakes were a little bit spicy and the eggs/hollandaise were really creamy. I definitely recommend it!

    (4)
  • Alma H.

Best breakfast I ever had! I had crab cake eggs benedict. Crab cake was perfect crisp and the whole dish was delicious. Large portion, a half would have been enough. Our friends liked their food as well.

    (5)
  • Jamie B.

Great breakfast. Had the queens Benny. Half portion would have been adequate. Caramel roll, two thumbs up. Biscuits and gravy good, but bigger winners on the menu. Service quick and friendly. Bloody Mary's were delish.

There are not a lot options for breakfast in Bayfield in the winter. We stopped at Egg Toss while waiting for the ice caves to open up. We were greeted by several smiling faces and a case of beautiful cake donuts! I had the half order of the biscuits and gravy. I have yet to find a place in Wisconsin that makes good biscuits and gravy until now. The biscuit was a bit crisp on the outside and the inside was light and buttery. The gravy I could smother on everything if I could. The gravy is peppery and do flavorful. Of course I had to have a cake donut. So good!!!!

  • Jode D.

Don't get the queen omelette! It was over whipped and like meringue. Bad. Unfortunately, another customer saw mine and thought it looked good. She obviously did not like hers either.

  • Craig M.

Was just at the Egg Toss today. It is not the first time my wife and I have been there. I highly recommend it for breakfast. In my opinion it is the best place for breakfast in the area. Scrumptious bakery goods, fluffy omelets that are perfectly done and never burned. The decor is typical upscale diner looking and very clean. The menu is varied and there are daily specials. Most breakfasts are around $9.00 but they heap the food on. Wait staff is courteous and pleasant.

    (5)
  • Kevin S.

Excellent breakfast! I had the Crabby Benny, Island Veggie Omlet, and the number 3 Omelet. The food and drinks were all great! The service was okay but they were busy on this Wednesday morning. We waited about 10 minutes to be seated. They should have opened the eastern room to allow more seating. So, this downgraded a "5" score to a "4."

  • Dave A.

The best meal in Bayfield. I usually don't order biscuits and gravy because my wife's recipe is crazy good. Boy did you show up for some serious competition! Shhhhhhhhh...don't tell her, but you may have just out-cooked her! My oh my. Spicy. Yummy. Perfection. Fast and kind service. Wonderful sunny and open atmosphere. This is a must visit for Bayfield visitors!

Love this place! Excellent food and fantastic service! I ordered the bagel and egg sandwich. It came with bacon and potatoes. The portions were really generous. The coffee at this place was top-notch. I highly recommend coming here for breakfast. The gorgeous backdrop of Lake Superior gives the perfect relaxing feel to eating here. We loved our waitress, who was cheerful and gave us recommendations as to what to order. The food arrived to us in a timely manner. Our waitress came back to refill our coffees and told us a few facts about the economy of Bayfield as well as what it's like there year-round. There is a lot of seating by the windows and I definitely plan on returning here next time. It was just a wonderful place and seems like the employees love working here. There seems to be a nice sense of pride at this restaurant. Five stars for sure!

Simple diner style breakfast joint. As a fan of eggs benedict i opted for the classic preparation. Perfectly prepared, quite possibly the best Eggs Benny I've had to date. Fun atmosphere, good coffee and great service.

All hail the Queen's Omelet! This egg white beauty, which is humongous, has spinach and mushrooms tucked inside. Covered in 2 types of shredded cheese, it's a happy, fluffy, healthy omelet that I ordered twice in a weekend. They have a wonderful 4 seed toast, which they serve with a homemade berry compote (YUM). Husband liked his trout omelet, but throw anything trout in front of him, and he's content. There was a 30 minute wait for a table for 9 on a weekend, but that's normal anywhere you come from. A table for 4 had maybe a few minutes wait. Cute diner with decent coffee.

This bakery serves up one of the worst omlets I have ever had. Not only was the food bad, it was overpriced and the coffee was disgusting. If you are thinking of going there - don't.

Great, colorful ambience, very clean. Helpful staff and good food. Very hearty portions. Queen's Benedict was excellent, also the Fisherman's Platter. Bacon perfect and tasty homemade style sausages. Unexpectedly good coffee. Get the bowl of seasonal fresh berries to start-- more than enough for two. Sit in the porch area for a nice breeze off the lake. Off street parking. We'll definitely come back. Considered ripping off their whole menu, interior design and business model and starting a restaurant in northern MN. Thinking of calling it "Egg Boss."

A must go while visiting Bayfield. I've been dozens of times over the 20 years we've been boating here. Hit Wild Rice and Maggie's for dinner, and Egg Toss for breakfast and you've completed the Trifecta. I always go for the Crabby Benny with a side of perfectly done hash browns for breakfast. A true gem that many will not get to experience due Bayfield's remote location.

I am not sure why this place doesn't have more 5-star ratings but it definitely gets one from me. We ate there 3 times in 5 days it was so good! Fresh local ingredients. When you use them you don't need to tell people that you are using them. The food reflects it. This place has great - no, not good - great breakfast. And that is a rarity anymore. Great ingredients, great recipes, and a great breakfast place atmosphere with lots of windows for a lot of natural light. Oh, and the prices are great value for quality and quantity of each dish. If this place were in a big city it would be packed everyday. I wish it were here.

My son and I ate here this morning. We both had the fisherman's breakfast. The eggs, over medium, were cooked perfectly and the bacon was good. The fresh strawberry jam was delicious! The biscuits do not tasty even remotely homemade. The turkey sausage patty was old, rubbery, not fresh and might of even been frozen. Their only good quality is the homemade raspberry preserves, and it's so good because it's omg 'Homemade.' I hated this place, it ruined my last morning in the city and made me an unhappy tourist.

Great stop for brekkie. Best sausage gravy anywhere, even below the Mason/Dixon line. Reasonable prices and we had very good service. Good coffee as well. I'll be back.
