My husband and I were in town on business and found this place through a Yelp review from a friend. I am a hardcore sushi lover. It's pretty much my favorite food. So rarely does a place do it well and is affordable but Tokyo Grill is one of those places. I ordered the 3 roll special and it was more than enough food to fill me up and then some. The sushi was fresh and delicious and the menu wasn't bogged down with nothing but deep fried mayo rolls - as is the latest trend in most sushi places. My husband had the scallop hibachi meal and loved it. I periodically picked at it and I concur that it was very tasty. The service was very good, very friendly. The place looks more like a Chinese takeout restaurant than a Japanese restaurant but don't let the lack of fancy ambience deter you. We will definitely come back when in town again.

I am so glad they opened this location near my house! It has proven to be great food and service at a very reasonable price. There are many fantastic dishes like the pine nut tuna that I highly recommend trying. (There are a couple secret winners! Can you find them?) This Tokyo Grill is family owned like all their locations. The father handles the chef duties with his daughter running the front of the house and I think they are off to a bang up start. Another local family restaurant that is super easy to support!

Tokyo Grill has awesome specials and the service is always fast. You can call in your order and pick it up, too. Even if you come in to make a to-go order, your wait still won't be long. My favorite thing to order is the 2 rolls of sushi and miso soup for $7.75. It's just enough for lunch and the selection of sushi that you can choose from is a nice variety. This is a family business and the staff is always very friendly, attentive and welcoming. When I want a tasty lunch and I'm in a hurry, I come here.

Great sushi for a great price. I have returned multiple times to try their 3 roll and soup special. The miso soup is very flavorful and the sushi is always fresh. The house fried rice is a massive serving. It took me two tries to finish my take out order. This place lives up to the hype.

Wowzers! A Co-worker and I just had lunch here and were very impressed. I was actually looking at Yelp this morning for something new around my work area to try and saw a great review from Michele G. that pointed me to Tokyo Grill. Man, am I glad I saw that review! We started out with a very nice Crunchy Shrimp sushi roll and it was outstanding. Very tasty and very fresh. We both had the Chicken Hibachi. It comes with Fried Rice and Grilled Zucchini with onions and mushrooms. They were all well seasoned and very flavorful. We both commented several times through out the meal how much we were enjoying everything. Service was great, prompt and very friendly. I can't wait to go back and try some of the other great offerings at Tokyo Grill.

If you haven't tried out this spot on Summer Ave., you must drop everything that you are doing, and go drive there right now! ALL of their food is amazing, no matter if you order it for there, or to go! Today, we had the Memphis Roll, Scallop Hibachi, and Philadelphia roll. The Memphis Roll is not on the menu, so you have to ask for it by name, but trust me, it is very delicious and filling! You will be greeted with the kindest staff, and their presentation is very nice!

Wonderful little restaurant. I have eaten here three times and have loved everything. Got the Bento box which was nice but the sushi really excelled. All the sushi I have had has been delicious and artfully and masterfully prepared. The quality is excellent. Glad I live so close by!

The restaurant was hot. The staff was inattentive and speaking very loudly to their kids who had been arguing and having to stand in the hot open kitchen by dad who was scolding them while cooking. My order was wrong, and the "steak" meat was tough. Oh and the cook killed a bug on the counter next to us.

Tokyo Grill is not a fancy restaurant with plastic bowls and spoons and styrofoam plates and cups, but it has the best miso soup, edamame, eel and salmon sushis, and tempura shrimp and vegetables I've found in Memphis. The server was very unobtrusive yet appropriately attentive. My husband and I cleared our plates! Definite recommend!

So far, I've only had carry-out sushi. I thought it was very good - especially for the price. But even at a higher price, I would have been happy with the food. The interior is really cute and clean, and the staff is friendly. I'll definitely be back to try more menu items.

Really affordable sushi take out place! At first I was a bit suspicious because of how the place looked but as people say, don't judge the book by its cover, my idea about this place changed! For such a cheap price, I got fresh and good portion of sushi. The workers are also very friendly and welcoming.

Japanese takeout jackpot! BEST crab rangoons I've ever had, with so much warm and cream cheesy deliciousness. Awesome dipping sauces, and generous & well prepared portions. Ya'll, I woke up craving it the next morning! (They claim to not use MSG, but I don't even care.) I cooked up my leftovers with a few eggs and enjoyed it all over again. I mentioned the generous portions right? Well not only did I have seconds, but I had thirds later that night for dinner. So, all in all my $25 meal made FOUR meals!! (First time I had to share with the bf.) Boyfriend also says the egg drop soup is the best. I might be on the fast track to obesity with this gem around the corner.

I really like this place. The best Miso soup that I have ever had. The sushi rolls are pretty large, especially for your money. Everything I have tried, except the fried oysters (which were just heavy on batter), has been really good. They have Yum-Yum sauce! That sauce can make anything taste great...probably anything. I usually do take-out from here because the interior is pretty small and, at times, pretty loud. What is that next door?? A dance club? I swear the music from next door is going to knock the frames off of the wall some day. In my experience...if you call in an order, add about 10-15 minutes to the quoted time they give you. You can't go wrong with the steak hibatchi. Don't forget the Yum-Yum sauce!! Seriously.

Fresh, cheap, fast and good. They get 5 stars for this sort of magic. Consider the friendly employees and clean dining area and you have a place that defies the typical atmosphere found in the Berclair grunge zone which Tokyo Grill calls home. Tiny and a bit obscure, you will find it nested right beside the busy, "third worldish" Summer Ave. Aldi. Parking is rarely available in front of the door, but there is usually a spot within 100 feet, so grab a space and begin your short walk through the parking lot. (Heck, you might even improve on your espanol as you stroll). The hibachi vegetables are a relatively healthy meal and can be had for a mere $5.95. Comes with fried rice which is good, but probably the weakest part of the meal. The tempura menu options deliver crunchy bites of perfection and the flavor goes well with the bowl of clear or miso soup that comes with the entrée. I have only had the clear soup, but it seriously makes me wish for winter! Such a salty rich cup of wholesome goodness with mushrooms and onions, I think I would be happy eating a gallon of it (and nothing else) for lunch or dinner. The seaweed salad is crisp and delicious, providing a refreshing contrast to the other taste sensations. Still more items to try on future visits. (Sushi is not my thing, but friends tell me this place can compete with the best.) Summary: 1) Plastic forks and spoons 2) Distinctly Berclair demographics 3) Clean and courteous 4) Royally good food served up for a peasant's budget.

I was hoping to find another gem on Summer Avenue... Sadly I did not. I ordered the 3 rolls plus miso and another specialty roll before swinging into Aldi for some trail mix and produce. I ordered the whitefish, spicy crawfish, and tuna then added on a volcano roll because I wanted to pig out. When I got the food home I opened it to realize the tuna was the only roll that contained whole fish filets. All of the other rolls were some strange puréed fish substance. I like my sushi to be firm and I like to be able to see the fish I am about to consume. I was unprepared for puréed fish, either inside or on the top of my rolls. I am never ordering sushi from here again. It was inexpensive yeah but sometimes what you think is inexpensive is actually cheap. I feel cheated...I bought $20 worth of crap! Maybe I'll try the hibachi sometime but I don't know. At this point is have to be desperate to go back. I should've just ordered a couple of takeout rolls from Sekisui. FAIL

After all the great reviews, I decided to give it a try. I went around lunch time and it was empty except for one other getting a carryout. I got the hibachi chicken and was disappointed in the thin sauce it was in. The chicken was nicely cooked, but it needed a little more ump. The fried rice was excellent and I'm very picky about fried rice and the vegetables were very good. Two people could easily share one order. I got the crunchy shrimp sushi, it was premade. I don't know if I was given the wrong sushi or not, but there definitely wasn't any shrimp or crunch. It was a piece of the imitation crab meat. I will definitely return to try some of the other things on the menu. I would love to find a good place for sushi close to home.

As my first time visiting this restaurant I would say that I am very impressed. The staff was extremely nice and the food was great. I had the c2 combo, that came with salmon sushi and one salmon roll along with a bowl of miso. My fiancé and I were curious about their hibachi food so I we ordered the chicken and steak combo as well. Both meals were delicious!!! Next time I am in Memphis I will return and I am highly likely to recommend!

Delicious Japanese food without the expensive price tag! The service was excellent-- they were very attentive and polite, very friendly. The food was so good we didn't talk throughout the meal, we just wanted to keep eating the delicious fried rice, hibachis and gyozas! We will definitely be visiting this Tokyo Grill often!

This newly opened sushi place is very dangerous to my fiance and me in the sense that it is affordable and yummy! We live nearby and get take out from this location about once a week. You can get three rolls of sushi and miso soup for under $10. The portions are pretty generous and I always end up overeating! The service is friendly and prompt. I have been to many sushi places in Memphis and this is by far my favorite. The seafood is fresh and never fishy. You definitely can't beat the price! And I agree with the reviewer who commented on the reusable soup containers. In fact, our house is currently full of them!

Another Summer Avenue hotspot! Sushi is fresh and tasty, service was fast and very friendly. The restaurant is clean and there is plenty of parking. Miso soup was hot with great flavor, and I especially enjoyed the Tuna Tanaki appetizer. I will definitely go back soon. I got my order as take out and was pleasantly surprised to see a stiff piece of cardboard in the bottom of the sack under the soup to prevent spills in the car. Nice attention to detail to ensure a pleasant dining experience for take out customers.

Just a simple statement . Good food and friendly staff. So glad this place is here. Its a real improvement from the odd Chinese place that was here. My favorite roll is the Futo Maki. Still exploring the menu so update to follow soon.

Very rarely is a business cheap, fast, and good, but Tokyo Grill manages to get all three of these criteria right. I love sushi, and Tokyo Grill makes excellent rolls, miso soup, and other Japanese foods at a very good price. The fish is always fresh and tasty. The price can't be beat - a three roll combo, with a big bowl of miso soup, is under ten bucks, and that's plenty enough for me to dine til I'm full. Since they opened this new location next to a grocery store and hardware store that I frequent, I've been eating a lot more sushi!
