We keep coming back here, Why? The only answer I can come up with is we love their patio. We've been here several times and on each visit they have been out of at least one item we've ordered. What are the chances? Service is good when they FINALLY figure out you're there........... Our last visit we waited over 20 minutes for our drinks only to be told they were out of a couple of the ingredients and we'd have to order something else. And this was a drink special they had on an insert in their menu. Luckily that order only took 15 minutes to fill. Hence my sarcasm. I'm not overly impressed with any of the food or drinks we've tried but nothing is horrible. We always have a good time here but I would love it if they would just up their game a little. Everything they do they just do o.k. and they definitely have potential to be better than just o.k. Come on Bar Louie, you got this! You can do it!!!

I've been to Bar Louie a few times now and honestly the service is never up to par. I called on Wednesday to let them know I'd be bringing in a group of 25 for lunch on Friday and that we needed to sit together. I called them about 11:45 the day of the event, as they had asked, to let them know we would be there by 12:30. If I were the manager, I would have made sure that I had seating for 25 people together as requested. I also would have assigned more than one waiter or waitress to the party since the main waiter was also the bartender. It's not as though we went in unexpected. I called them two days in advance. After receiving drinks ONE AT A TIME, then our orders were taken for food. Since there was almost no one else in the restaurant, everything took way too long. Most of the food was good. However, I will never plan a group outing for this restaurant again. Very disappointed.

I met a friend here for lunch. Our server came and got our drink orders and was patient during my friends indecision. Later we ordered food which came out at different temperatures, my beans looked like they were congealing, the rice was cool and the rest wasn't hot. The server came by once more to say he was going to go smoke. We said, "ok." I found this to be an interesting share but he didn't come back for well over 30minutes. But oh when he returned he was as high as 30 supermans. Swept in a corner for at least 10minutes and ignored our table and empty drinks. I like the look of bar Louie but I wouldn't eat there again, superhigh server aside. The food was ok but the the drinks were good.

I've been to plenty of Bar Louies in different states and cities and this one has given my fiance and I the worst service known to man! Service was not only slow but our server never came to check on us. We had to get attention from other servers to get a hold of our server which was awful. After getting the food we were happy that the food and drinks were amazing! But when we got our check we saw that she put gratuity in there. It was only us 2 and she put gratuity in there? We understand that servers live off of tips so we know to give 18% or more but she took that away from us. She took away our option of giving her 18% or more which was annoying! You give people horrible service and expect them to just give you a great tip?! You don't deserve it lady! Everyone I advise you to examine your bill before pay...

Our 1st visit was a Saturday afternoon at 2:30. We were a little frustrated because we had to go find a waiter to service us after about 10-15 minutes of waiting at a dirty table on the patio. But once we finally found our waitress, she was very friendly and helpful with the menu. My wife ordered the Grilled Veggie Wrap (without the queso or pesto mayo - she' vegan). I had the Crispy Chicken Melt, and my daughter had the Baked Mac & Cheese. The crispy chicken melt was good on the whole, but I would get it without the cheese next time. My wife thought the grilled veggie wrap was "okay" and next time would either order it with the broccoli and carrots on the side or with mushrooms. She did like the hummus that was on the wrap and is was a pretty good size meal. My daughter thought the baked mac and cheese was "pretty good", giving a "3" on a 5-point scale. One point that they seem to struggle with is in busing the tables on the patio. During our one hour meal, the table next to us was never cleaned and The ones that did eventually get cleaned only happened after somebody new set down at the table On the whole, this place has a great location but we would give this visit 3 stars.

Food was good service not so good didn't have certain kinds of alcohol because waitress said they forgot to order they need to get it together because it's a really cool little place Waitress was new and so stressed we had a table of 12 I felt so bad for her she had no help And needed it. We will return again and I'm sure they will do better

Good food and service. We ate on the patio which had a lovely atmosphere. We were relatively close to the band playing, but had no trouble hearing each other talk which was a huge plus. I hate it when you're out to dinner and the band is extremely loud!

As far as the bars in Overton Square go, I can generally take or leave this place. The inside is WAY too loud, and it's just not my scene - I could pay less for people to be rude to me at better places. However. If it's nice out, sit on the patio. And go during happy hour. The HH deals are incredible, and the food is good, and it's much less obnoxious on the patio. Our patio waitress was fantastic. Maybe they're turning things around on the service front, and that patio is worth a few more tries!

I was so excited to to try this place when it first opened on the Square....that's where my positives come to an end. Prior to having lunch that day, I looked up their menu so I would know what I wanted. Their menu was just ok in my opinion and I decided on one of the "large" entrees...or so I thought. The fish tacos came out in great time but I was speechless, they were so tiny. Almost like silver dollar tacos or something lol I really don't know how to describe them. They had a tiny bit of queso fresco and way too much cilantro which gave the tacos a grassy taste. The waitress sort of took on a nasty attitude when she realized that u didn't care for my food, mind you I never said anything to her about it. Things just got awkward but I ordered some hot spinach dip and it wasn't too bad. Like everybody says it's really nice on the inside and the location is amazing but that's about it. I won't be back.

The food was not very good, I also didn't care for the menu choices! I'll give it a second chance and update my rating... Stay tuned, rating may go up!

I would like to be able to write a review but after not being acknowledged at the bar after 10 mins (there were no other customers) while waiting for a seat outdoors... We decided to leave. We are on the list to get a text when a seat comes open. We have been served at another restaurant and still no text.

Cons: Service was not great (but maybe it was just really busy). It took the waitress seemingly forever just to come take our order and get drinks on the table (again-maybe it wasn't fault, but it still took away from the experience). I had two drinks and the Voodoo Sandwich with tots-yes, tots. I had two drinks and the Voodoo sandwich with tots-yes, tots. My Strawberry Peach Bellini martini was the worst thing on the others) table (of friends). Several others agreed. Also, the food wasn't great for seemingly everyone else (there were 8 others). Oh, and they charge 18% gratuity! Pros: But my S'mores martini was great! And the Voodoo sandwich..... I would go back JUST for that, maybe... Overall, I've had plenty of better dining experiences, but at least my food was good.

The interior is beautifully designed and is very comfortable and laid back. The service was soo slow and it took us 2hrs to eat and after our drink order 20min to recieve 2 lemon drops. on the other hand geting the food took forever. I ordered a burger and asked for it med and it came out well which was not to bad... the flavor was really good and the fries were seasoned perfectly. They do have a nice patio and would go back there to enjoy an afternoon in overton square. I am so glad to see it kicking again!

Good but Mostly Bad...food is decent, service is horrendous and slow! And they get all friggin nuts about that outdoor couch- no one can ever sit there, who is it saved for the QUEEN?! Just too too bad location is the best in Midtown....will be closed in a year.

I visited this place for the first time last night and my experience was horrible. I was with a group of people and it took so long to get service and about time we did place an order it took 20 minutes for the food to be served. After this, another 10 minutes wait for eating utensils and 10 minutes for drinks. The drunken fish and chips was served with burnt fish or maybe the fryer needs to be filtered or a fresh change of cooking oil. The waitress was either very bad or that her first day at that job and no one had time to train her. I will not be dining here again.

I have always been a fan of Bar Louie. I would frequent the Bar Louie in Chicago often when I lived there. When I heard Memphis was getting one I was very excited about it. I had the opportunity to go last night to enjoy the game, grab a few drinks, and eat. I must say that this Bar Louie has carried the great reputation of the other Bar Louie's I've been to. Great atmosphere, several televisions throughout the bar, great service and great selection of drinks. On the menu, I noticed a new dish. It was the Mac-N-Cheese with either sausage, chicken, or shrimp. I've never had the combination of Mac-n-cheese with shrimp so I had to try it. I must say that it was very good. They did a wonderful job with this entree. I highly recommend it. This restaurant is in a very nice area of Memphis in the up-and-coming Overton Square/midtown district. Several eating options are within walking distance, new expanded parking, and an overall festive diverse area. This has been long overdo for Memphis. I highly recommend that you come to this restaurant and enjoy the area that surrounds it.

I just can't get that excited about this place. They have a pretty good Tuesday happy hour for people who like burgers ($5 burger and fries), but that's not really my thing. I have tried a bunch of apps, and I still haven't found any food here that I like. Some of the salads are ok. Some bar servers are friendly, but others look right by as if you aren't there. And all of the food service is slooooow. All in all, not my first pick. Or my second. Or my third.

Went for lunch. I was pleasantly surprised that the food wasn't overly expensive but very reasonably priced. Great menu with lots of choices and the food was tasty. I had a BLT salad and everything was really fresh, no wilted lettuce here. It was lunch time on Tuesday so it wasn't busy. I'm sure it can get loud when more people are there. Great spot in Overton Square and perfect for a date night.

We waited 45 minutes to get seated (when there was an empty table, mind you) , our server only came to our table when we actively called her over, and they brought my friend a drink with a cocktail napkin IN the drink. On the plus, they have a good cocktail menu.

Ok, I just had to write an update on Bar Louie's. My friends assured me that was a fluke night, and boy were they right. I visited Bar Louie's multiple times while in Memphis over the holidays and I had nothing but pleasant experiences! Their lemon drop is great, but their mojitos are even better! I'd recommend their berry mojito. DELICIOUS! The servers were so much better. I love how chill the atmosphere is.

We stopped into Bar Louie after our first choice for the evening proved to be too long of a wait. I'm glad we did. It's a laid back, casual atmosphere, but with enough nice touches to be a reasonable option for a date night. As it was a nice evening, we sat outside on the patio. Our server was laid back as well and knew the menu like the back of his hand. My companion had some sort of 5-decker bacon cheeseburger monster (that she loved and took 2/3 of home), and I had the voodoo chicken. The voodoo chicken was really, really good. It's getting hard to compare because there's so much good food in Memphis, but that's one of the tastiest dishes I've had, mainly due to the moderately spice but hugely flavorful sauce. So, so good. I found the prices to be reasonable for what you get and the area, and while the server wasn't exactly outgoing, he knew his stuff and was attentive. All in all, it wasn't a bowl-you-over amazing experience, but it was good food, good service, and a solid value. I'll definitely be back.

Just in for a quick beer after a LONG day. Great bar in the round - nice service. They have a High Cotton ESB that is very intriguing, I 'highly' recommend.

I gave two stars..went for brunch on Sunday.. Waitress was nice.. But didn't know anything? Didn't know how much mimosas were? Didn't know if they have Wi-Fi(they do) Food.. Slow..but tasty.. Wait staff spends too much time in the back in the kitchen laughing and cutting up!! Last thing..6 bucks for a small mimosa? Cut the price to 3 or 4 bucks..or have bottomless for $20..u won't be able to find a seat!!

A lot has changed since my last review. Sorry Tony but, strike three! Brunch, you are out. Until they get their shit together do not eat brunch here. The food is good once you get it but good luck getting it under an hour. There are a couple standard excuses/answers/reasons you will get when complaining about the maddening length of time it takes to be served: 1) There was some confusion with the ticketing system. Your meal will be out any second. 2) the kitchen staff is behind on the brunch menu. Your meal will be out any second. Hint: It's *never* out any second unless 'any second' is 20+ more minutes. So, if you choose to eat here in the usual 10-2 weekend brunch window order from the regular menu. Your food is nearly at your table before you finish scrolling through your Facebook newsfeed. If you want brunch, gadzooks, go anywhere else. Imo they need to stick with one menu and leave brunch to the professionals.

After enjoying our Sunday funday we decided to come into Bar Louie. We had around 8 ppl and ordered several drinks and appetizers. The 3 margaritas and mojito was too swt. The manager first came out and redid the 4 drinks. Came back to be about the same. Our hummus appetizer was watered down. The manager came out and insisted she had made all the drinks and Hummus herself. I mean I'm pretty fair but everyone (all 8 of us) thought the drinks and food was terrible. Maybe the manager shouldn't make the food/drinks anymore? ... just saying Service was good but I don't think the management was met to our expectations. We barely touched the hummus and were still charged b/c we ate it. We had to try it first to see how it tasted like right? Barely touched the hummus and the pita bread should be slightly toasted but seems like it came straight out of the bag and cut up. $100 bill and we still gave a 20% tip to our waitress for trying her best to make us happy. Everything else was under the management issue. I don't think we will be back.

Love $5 burgers on Tuesdays! My fav is the Fried Louie with bacon, egg, and cheese. I've also had the Bourbon St Chicken which was excellent and everyone else in my family has enjoyed what they've had as well.

Went during lunch and was pleasantly surprised by their lunch menu. $8 for several items and a soft drink. The loaded tater tots are probably my favorite item by far. They are extra crispy and covered with a spicy cheesy sauce and topped with bacon and scallions. Tell me that doesn't make your mouth water. Our server (Cole) was extra attentive and helped mix and match a few things on the lunch menu. Would definitely come back for lunch again, especially since I've been during dinner and they are usually very busy.

We wanted a table on the patio and was told my the unfriendly hostess that there were no seats available. We were surprised to hear this since we saw several available tables and no one on the couches. After waiting almost an hour we asked to speak with manager. We were very calm and pleasant in our approach about our unhappiness. We were shocked how the manager responded to us. He was very rude and aggressive and told us he DID NOT CARE IF WE EVER CAME BACK. We visit Over ton Square often and we MOST CERTAINLY WILL NEVER BE BACK!!

I have been meaning to check this place out for a while. I always head to Local, and lately to The Second Line when I'm in Midtown for some good casual food. This time, I strayed to Bar Louie (partially because the wait at The Second Line was over an hour and I was hungry). I'm glad I did. The outdoor patio looked so nice. All the people sitting there were really just chillin with drinks and food. I ended up sitting inside, where they had some of the games on at the bar. This place is HUGE and I think there were 2-3 large birthday parties sitting down for dinner as well. I had a fantastic waitress, who was incredibly helpful in making suggestions on both food and drink. Definitely give the service and ambiance two thumbs up. The drink menu looked amazing, but my issue was that all of their drinks were made with a ton of sugar. I wanted something lower cal, so I went off-menu and the bartender made me a skinny margarita. It was pretty good, but their menu could use some under 8,000 calorie options. I also got the Chicken Nachos (definitely not low cal). Now just to set your expectations, the nachos were not like what you would get at Central BBQ or any other BBQ place in Memphis where you get this sloppy mess of deliciousness. These nachos had some grilled chicken and fresh ingredients that were yummy and flavorful (not BBQ flavorful, but better than any Mexican restaurant can make in Memphis that I've tried so far). In addition, Bar Louie had a great Salad menu. There aren't too many places where you can get a good big salad (my fav), but I was incredibly pleased with the selection.

Bar Louie has some great high points, but also has room for improvement. Reasons to go - great happy hour specials (including good wine for a nice price!), the patio, and overall location of this place. Reasons to skip - service is hit or miss (can be alow or just not friendly) and the food is nothing to write home about. On my list for happy hour - but not much more. Sorry Bar Louie.

I have to say three strikes you are out! I have been here three different times not and each time was not the best experience. feel like I have given this place enough chances to impress me but each time I go I am just disappointed! The last time I went was to meet a girlfriend for a drink. Easy right...i think not. I ordered a martini that was WAY overpriced but thought it sounded good so why not. The bartender filled my drink up half way....REALLY?! I am paying for a full drink not half a drink. I even made a comment loud enough for her to hear me and might say "oh I am sorry let me fix that"...but no nothing. SO after that I wanted to just get my tab, pay it and leave. I had my card out on the counter and it took her a good 20 minutes to even pay attention to me. It was not like they were busy or anything or that she had any other customers to attend to. Needless to say, I am not a fan of this place and don't plan on going anytime soon. Maybe in the future my mind will be changed but as of now...me think not.

I had dinner there on July 17th with several friends. The experience was horrible to say the least. The service and food is sub par. Me and a friend ordered the same chicken Parmesan sliders, the food took about an hour to come out and when it did there was absolutely no chicken on the buns. I showed the server ( who is the most innocent out of all these characters) and brought it to the attention of the "manager" Javel Weston. He came out and said that it wasn't his fault and he is trying to get corporate to take them off the menu and to order something else and he wasn't going to charge me for the sliders but to BUY something new. At that point we did not have time to wait another hour for something else. This was the most combative and argumentative "manager " I have ever come across. TO TOP IT OFF-I posted on their Facebook page about our experience, the manager commented, then removed it. Being somewhat apologetic about our experience and admitting all of the flaws. He then proceeded to go to MY COMPANY'S Facebook page and write derogatory statements and lies about me. Who does that?? Needless to say, corporate is now involved in this situation. RIDICULOUS!

I think everyone knows by now that I'm not a huge fan of chains. That being said, I didn't feel like I was at a chain (minus the matching shirts worn by the over-cheerful hostesses). And I am pretty grateful that empty space is finally filled. Overton Square is kicking once again, which is awesome for Memphis. I love the interior of the restaurant....open space, dark wood and dim lighting...the perfect setting for making ladies like me look more attractive than we really are. There is a sleekness to it without being snobby. And the martinis are delish, even if they are a tad on the expensive side. But what really stole the show for me was the meatballs. Is there anything better than melted cheese on meatballs? Don't think so. And they were awesome. This might have to be a weekly ritual for me...even though I'll gain 10 pounds - sigh, such is life. Local (bar across the street) might be a bit nervous because this place is going to give them a run for their money.

I absolutely love the Tuscan Chicken Pasta among many other items on the menu. The servers are so friendly and the service is always decent. Have also sat at bar and just loved the convo with the bartender at that time. I suggest trying the above mentioned pasta. Being new to the midtown area I would recommend Bar Louie to anyone who asks. 5 stars for sure!!

Worst bar experience in town. Went with friends early on a Friday night. Bar was half empty, but we were told that there was a "one hour wait" -- haha. We decided to hang out at the bar instead. The setup is awkward so if you're hanging at the bar, you will collide into people and find yourself in the servers' path. And apparently the patio is off limits -- even if it is completely empty. We had a very 'wtf' experience. Likely going to go across the street to Boscos next time.

Bar Louie has a great atmosphere, but can be a bit unnecessarily overpriced. The cost isn't my rationale for not giving it a full five stars. I went here to celebrate my 22nd birthday and found the staff was a bit inattentive. At one point, our waiter left the table for nearly an hour, leaving us with empty plates and glasses. Other than that, the food and drinks were fantastic.

First time at any Bar Louie. I'm a fan of what they've done with the place! The dark wood and leather lounge areas are very Vegas! I love the fact that it is very spacious inside and not cramped as a lot of bars tend to be. Flat screens are in abundance, lending to a great environment for game watching. Great corner presence on the square and HUGE patio. Judging from the 'always full' patio I've encountered on many drive bys - this has become THE patio spot on the square. I mean, but really... it couldn't help but be, given where it is located. I ordered the Blackened Salmon Sliders as an appetizer and should have stopped there because they were a meal unto themselves. They're served with a small portion of delicious fries. I'm more of a fish eater than beef eater, so these were right up my alley. I preface this by saying...."this is what you get for ordering a salad at a bar": Since I shared my appetizer and was still a little hungry, I decided to order the Chop Chop Salad. Unfortunately, I was less than thrilled with it. I dunno....it just seemed bland to me. I couldn't taste the house dressing in the salad at all. The server brought me some onion flavored ranch dressing and I didn't like that either. Just give me some straight up 'regular' ranch and I'm good. I tried to spice it up by ordering some blackened chicken to go on top, but that still didn't do it for me. Probably won't order that salad again. I thought our server was a little spacy and aloof, but hey it was a late Monday night and they may have been tired. I dig it and won't knock them too hard for it. Overall, very impressed by the ambiance. Location is everything. I'm ecstatic about the renaissance of Overton Square and glad they're a part of it!

I am not typically a "chain restaurant" kind of place, but I forget that Bar Louie is one.. Have been several times and love it! I LOVE the salmon sliders and the tempura shrimp! They have a great drink menu, too!

Came here for happy hour on the patio, but the good weather brought all the folks into town. The host was less than friendly, and service was slow and reluctant. Despite having an empty table in the patio, no one was seated. The table service was also slow, and it's a shame that we can't be as enthusiastic about the service (1 glass of wine took 30 mins to be served) as we do the food.

My wife and I went to Bar Louie because the wait was too long at Babalu's. So we decide to give it a try for dinner before the play at Hattiloo. We were almost seated immediately, however, the table was dirty and we had to get a waitress to clean it off. We were placed near the backside of the bar and it was not a pleasant sight and we just felt that the place was dirty. Our waiter was very shy and not warm but was efficient in placing our order and refilling our drinks. I was not impressed with the decor or atmosphere. The food was okay, but it was not an impressive dining experience. I understand it is a bar, but we expected festive atmosphere.

Went midday on a Saturday. Sat on the patio. Not crowded. Weather was perfect, but that was the only thing. I've heard from several people that the service was slow, but being neglected is a lot worse. Drink refills were rare, cold food had to be sent back, but she was quick with the check! Prices are about par with others, but for quality, go across the street to Boscos or Local. It tastes like a chain, it looks like a chain, so it must be a chain. Eat local.

Bar Louie is a brand new restaurant that opened in Overton Square in a space that has remained empty for quite some time. The patio is still under-construction but the restaurant is up and running. After three visits (only ate here once), my overall impression is that the decor is nice, the drinks are expensive, and food is okay. The entire restaurant is centered around a huge bar. Makes sense, I guess, given the name. They don't have a beer license yet, but judging by the number of taps they have, it looks like they will be carrying a pretty decent selection. I ordered a vodka and soda for $7.50. That's a little high, if you as me. The menu consists of mostly burgers, salads, and flat breads. I ordered the wings, which are served boneless or traditional style with a choice of buffalo, bbq, szechwan, or en fuego sauce. I asked for details about the last two sauces but the bartender had no idea. I went that traditional buffalo. I also ordered the BLT Wedge salad, but I asked for blue cheese dressing instead of the vinaigrette that it come with. The wings were decent. Not impressive but not bad either. They were of average size, the sauce was mild, and the skin could have been a little more crisp. The salad was pretty, but it came out with no dressing at all. I asked the bartender if I could have a side of blue cheese. He brought me a ramekin of blue cheese crumbles. I had to get his attention again politely clarify that I wanted blue cheese dressing. Obviously, we had a communication gap. I really enjoyed the salad once I got my dressing. The bacon was a little strange. I was expecting crumbled bacon but it was more like giant bacon bits.

Went in for drinks on a Sunday afternoon. Apparently, they serve beer in a 14 oz or 20 oz size. I went for the 14 oz, as I thought it would be cheap. I was incorrect. Next time, I'll get the 20 oz, although I'm concerned it might be pricey. Had food on a different visit, and it was okay. Veggie flatbread was decent. The Tennessee Whiskey Cake was fairly tasty, although it seemed like it had been microwaved. I would go back here again for drinks during their daily happy hour.

I tried Bar Louis for the first time recently on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. The patio is the best thing going for the place. The service was OK and the food was over priced and had no flavor. I did enjoy my bloody mary, but it was not as good as other places in Memphis. With all the other choices in Overton Square now, I do not think I will return.

We stopped in for happy hour on our way home. Atmosphere was very nice - music was OK. Apps are half price during happy hour - we had tempura shrimp - tasty and comes with 3 sauces for dipping. Our wine glasses were not sparkling - they should change out their triple sink solution more often. Service was good. Bathrooms were clean. We will come back and try the patio - it looked amazing and should be great for a summer afternoon (faces east). I'm guessing the experience could have rated 4 stars in great weather on the patio. Look for us on the patio sometime during spring 2014. Probably try a Thursday - half price bottles of wine.

When I saw the special- grilled lemon pound cake with fresh strawberries-- I knew this was the place to eat. The menu is varied, and full of quality dishes, some standard fare but upgraded a bit. My server got busy and forgot my side of mac n cheese, for which he apologized profusely. My mac n cheese arrived shortly after. Also, when I asked for more strawberries for my pound cake, my server was more than happy to oblige. I wish I had more time in Memphis so I could try all the drinks, and the dessert! There's a whiskey cake that looks amazing. The weather was perfect while I was here, and I enjoyed the open patio- fans kept me cool, and I chose to sit out of the sun. It's on a bit of a busy corner, but totally worth it.

Stopped in for happy hour yesterday before a show at Playhouse. We ordered boneless wings, calamari, and wine and were pleasantly surprised with the atmosphere, portion size and timely service. When I am in Overton Square there are usually many other places I prefer to frequent, but after last night Bar Louie has a hat in the ring.

Three words y'all - Ice Cold Beer. I mean, literally, my draft beer had an ice layer on top. I'd dare to say they have the coldest beer on the square. Also, their happy hour specials are INCREDIBLE! I don't know if it was just a Tuesday thing, or if it's an everyday thing, but ALL appetizers, including flatbreads, were half off. Let me break it down for you (I was with a group): 6 24 oz ICE COLD draft beers, 3 sliders, one flat bread, and 6 potstickers - $40. Fo real. Did you get the 6 24 oz beer part??? I was very skeptical due to so many bad reviews and bad customer pr, but I was happily surprised. Service was fast, friendly, and attentive. The food was pretty tasty, too. The patio looks amazing. I can't wait to go back for an ice cold Dos Equis on their patio. My ONLY complaint, no local beers on tap. Yazoo was the closest, and that's Nashville. Show some local love, ok Bar Louis? This is midtown, after all.

Bar Louie is a new addition to Overton Square sporting a nice trendy atmosphere, good menu and good service. I had the Fish Po Boy which was made with Blackened Tilapia served on a hoagie roll with lettuce, tomato and special sauce. It was very tasty as was the seasoned fries that came with it. I'd definitely order it again. I'll be back!

Tennessee whiskey cake. Just sayin. That's enough to get me there. But the rest is good too- hard place to be on a diet ;) Huge portions on most items. Booths or high tops inside, great patio seating to escape the bar scene if you prefer. I've hosted events here and the food was excellent, and the management a joy to work with - really! Who says that?! Try the blackberry orange and Brie salad, or a fine flatbread or burger. Wash it down with an Effen Good martini. That's what it's called, one among many on an extensive drink list.

I went to this location on a Sunday, 06/07/2015 around 3:30 p.m. I sat at the bar and waited at least 10 minutes before I was even acknowledged by the bartender. He did see me, we made eye contact, but he waited until another bartender finally appeared and let her wait on me. I ordered a Coke and a BLT Wedge salad. She was pleasant enough and placed my order. Then I waited...and waited...and waited for the salad. After about 25-30 more minutes I realized the bartender who had helped me was sitting at another table with two other servers eating together. I asked the male bartender about my salad. He said, "you ordered food?". He then walked over to the table where the female bartender was and asked her about it. Apparently, it had gotten lost in the system or something. I offered to pay for the Coke and leave. They assured me it would be right out...it took another 15 minutes at least for it to come out to me. She said they had made one, but had to do it over because I had requested Ranch instead of Bleu Cheese. After getting my food, no one checked back with me on anything. I felt like they were mad at me for their mistakes. The male bartender brought my check and somewhat apologized about the whole mix up. The place really seemed to lack leadership of any kind. The bartender broke 3 to 4 glasses while I was there. I wondered if he were drinking something a little more than water or soda. As I exited I passed two hostesses, neither said a word, no thanks for coming in...nothing. I really liked Bar Louie, but this experience has really made me not want to go back to this location.

Mother's Day brunch....go in...several empty tables...15 minute wait? Sit at the bar and have a Bloody Mary...$10!?!?!. Next time, ask the price before you order...Clear tab at bar, go get seated. 5 minutes, waitress finally comes and takes drink orders...5 minutes later, drinks come, takes orders. 1 HOUR LATER, no food. Waitress says kitchen is slammed...meanwhile, two adjacent tables are seated after us, and they get their appetizers and food. No managers on the floor (they are in the kitchen making food...). This place has gone downhill very fast. Probably won't set foot in the place again.

This place has a good selection of local beers and decent quality bar food. The Ahi Tuna burger is my favorite. The ambiance in nice and the patio gives a good feel for the Overton Square area.

Hands down the worst service I have EVER received all 3 times I have been to this bar. The bartenders and servers are bitchy and rude, ignoring customers and working at a snail's pace. This is the one bar in Overton Square I avoid like the plague. Even if it had the best food and drinks in town, the staff would be enough to keep me away for good. Keep away!!!!

Ok, so I've read at least 20 reviews below and can tell the service has been 'hit or miss' for MONTHS. My review gets NO stars, not single one, because.... Ahhhhh...Deep breath here.... My friend asked me out for happy hour & we wanted to sit on the patio. I got there just ahead of her & procured a table. She arrived a cple of mins later & the fun begins! Our waiter shows up at the table w/a dirt/food smeared black shirt. Ok, so maybe he's had an accident already & just got to work??? That did not appear to be the case. We decided on pints so off he went to get them as we began to peruse the happy hour menu. My friend is primarily vegetarian, so when he brought the drinks back we asked about the flat bread items and we're told we cldnt have them because the oven was broken. Friend looks up & asks," really? it's broken" he says "yes, for about 2&1/2 weeks now." This gets another "really?" He just stands there, so she asks, what are u substituting for them, "nothing" is the response. Wow! That's not helping the situation, but we try to find something on the happy hour list that will work. A cple more ?'s & still no better attitude, so I asked as nicely as possible for him to get us the manager. I tell him I understand it's not his fault & no point in beating the dead horse w/him. Right? Friend takes a drink from the glass as mgr comes outside & approaches our table. Friend begins to ask about the broken oven & lack of substitutes & I stick my hand out to raise my glass as the mgr picks up both glasses and walks off w/them as she calls over her shoulder "thanks ladies". We look at each other in utter disbelief mouths open w/the WWTTFF!!!! look. I called back to her, "and what is your name?" Never opens her mouth goes thru the door & we leave & go across the street in the rain to LOCAL. Had a marvelous time, drinks were ice cold, food was divine & service was absolutely the BEST!!!! No excuses, oven works @ & bartender makes a very tasty dry martini!! Waitress there has heard lots of stories about the management's rudeness and lack of caring so this is not a new thing. BTW Cafe Ole's open & food is fabulous!! Going to write 2 positive reviews for them now! Caio for now!

I've been to Bar Louie a few times, since my last post on it. They have an amazing patio. I think it's as big as the restaurant!. They also have a nice happy hour. They have discounts on drafts, martinis, and specialty cocktails, as well half price wine bottles and small plates. It's a fun place to go for cocktails. It's also a good place to eat. With all my visits, I've only eaten there once, but the food was really good. One person ordered a salad with blue cheese and steak. Another ordered a burger with jalapeños. I got what I had been dying to try. The burger with blue cheese and bacon! It even had buffalo wing sauce on it. So good. That is the best combination ever! I want to try other food, but it might be impossible for me to resist this.

Ok. It's a chain. That might turn one off. I have to say, though, the ambiance was perfect for Overton Square. The staff was absolutely fantastic and on their A game! I've been a few times and been treated well. The food is great. The ambience is sleek and without being pretentious. It's a great place for groups or just a handful of friends. It being a bar, I should mention the drinks. Spot on pours. You get your money's worth and there is care put into each beverage served. Angus, take a load off and have a proper drink!

Very amateur bar. I ordered a old fashioned and it came out pink. How a bourbon drink comes out pink amazes me! I would say it like Applebee's on roids!

Since there was an hour wait at Local (seriously?) we tried Bar Louie, which is a Bar/Lounge/Restaurant (according to the sign)...unfortunately like many of the Memphis eateries, they are also overpriced....I could pay way less in bigger cities like NY, Boston, Atlanta, Chicago..etc for food that is way better....but since that is not specific to this place I won't hold it against them. Bar, yes....there's a huge one in the middle of the space...unfortunately, the bartender made the worst Old Fashioned I have ever had...while a maraschino cherry is technically a recognized garnish for this drink, the syrup it comes in is most definitely not. Not sure how much of a lounge this place is...I think if they walled off one of the sections it could definitely have a nice lounge area that is separate from the bar and restaurant. Finally the restaurant, never mind my drink, I watched these guys screw up a few drinks but i digress....let's get to the food. While the pretzels didn't look like traditional knot pretzels, the taste was PERFECT!!! I did like the spicy cheese sauce it came with. We also had the burgers which were good...I get mine medium-rare or medium...while the flavor of the meat was good, there was a strangely thick layer of char that was just over powering...not a big deal but takes away from the burger. Service is really the main reason for the 4 stars (i'd give it 4.5 if I could). Our waitress was awesome and attentive. She noticed that our food was taking too long and got on it quick, figured out the problem (printer screw up), and had the manager deal with it. The Manger (i'm assuming she was the manager) came by, profusely apologized and took $25 off of our check which was a little over half of the original check. We'll definitely be back and hopefully the drinks will be better.

The first time I came to Bar Louie, we were told we could sit on the patio, but no one ever came to wait on us. But, at a friends insistence, I went back and tried it again. And, I'm glad I did. We had to wait a while for a table, which I don't mind. But, there is no designated waiting area so you're just kind of awkwardly standing by the door. When we got a table, our martinis were great, our service was excellent, and the food was good. It also has a nice atmosphere.

First of all, these guys have some competition compared to the other businesses on Madison that are not franchised and have more craft beer and unique food selection. We went here to finish off our Saturday night and there were 5 of us. We sat in a booth. It gets busy but the atmosphere was not great. My friend paid $11 for a martini. Their drinks are pricey unless you get a special like I did (Orchard for $3.5). What really put this place on the list of bars I will not revisit is the 18% gratuity. Typically, I tip more, but it ticked me and my group off that we were handed checks with 18% gratuity and nothing was said about it by the server. Just not cool.

Previous review was more glowing. This one won't be. Like last time, went with our theater going friends before a show, so we started early-ish. Although there were quite a few tables open, we were given a lousy table at the back, right beside the service area. Still had to ask for a beer menu and this time it was more limited than last. Food was OK, but not exceptional. Waitress got on the bad side by asking us what we wanted for dessert before we finished our main course. I said "we are not finished eating yet." From that point on, I was a non-entity to her. She reached around me to serve a new iced tea beside me. She asked my friend if he wanted another beer and ignored me although my glass was in the same state as his. The manager came to our table to ask us how we were enjoying our meal. We talked to her and my friend described how I was being ignored. Although she expressed her regret, she did not do anything to fix the problem other than serve me another beer. The waitress never did ask us if we wanted dessert. She got an OK tip, but I won't be going back.

Friday night the manager Zack discriminated against an Arab man because hr complained he waited two hours for food. Join me in boycotting this establishment. Bad management bad food and bad environment. Go to Cordova where this is acceptable. You have no place in the diverse midtown.

Pretty bad experience. I doubt I'll be back. Server was lacking any personality or enthusiasm. Food was OK - just had appetizers. The menu sounds good. I would like to go back to try more things, but only if I hear that the service kinks have been worked out. But I doubt that will happen. They've been open for a few months now. There are some things that they should have in place - like a beer list and a system for getting food to the table (we watched our food make a lap around the restaurant before the carrier figured out it was ours). I will say that the manager on duty was very nice (yea - we had to have the MOD come to our table) and the guy that brought out the food had some personality. But the place obviously has a bad General Manager. Maybe things will improve if they get a new GM.

We loved the look, the feel, the great staff, and a great location, loved the corner outside patio...so relaxing. But our food we ordered was just not so good.! I had the fish and chips...parts were ok, parts were so soggy & greasy. Hubby had the Luigi steak hoagie - steak was overcooked n dried, kind of mealy. Also tater tots which were very greasy and very very salty! Both looked great when they arrived...just not tasty. We will come back once more I suppose, but try a salad or something way different.

This place has really been a disappointment. There is nothing special or unique about the drinks and the food is often very tragic. However it is good for socializing because there's always a lot of people there however I'm not sure what they are eating or drinking. Last summer there was really great music on the patio I think the performer's name was Cameron Bethany I enjoyed that a lot. This place is walking distance from my house but I am never eager to go.

Atmosphere: Kind of an interesting marriage between social sports bar and casual, upscale dining. The amount of TVs did not match the way the interior was nicely designed. Lighting could be dimmer! Great band on the outdoor patio. Food: Typical bar food (burgers, appetizers) with several unique choices as well. We both ordered burgers: better than the usual greasy burger at a bar. Drinks: Draft beer list did not have all the beers listed. When asked, the bartender "did not know" all the other beers. Even if some of the taps are rotated with seasonal beers and such, it is an EASY fix to have ALL the beers listed. Service: No hostess for a minute or to when we walked in. Several bussers and servers walked past us, without saying a single word such as "The hostess will be right with you" or even a simple "hello." When the hostess arrived at the FOH, she told us that she "had no idea what the wait is for a table.... Could be 5 minutes, could be an hour." We decided to wait at the bar until a table was ready, even though there were literally 10 open tabes. Bartender was quick to get our drink orders, but didn't know or try to find out the full beer selection. When we finally got seated at our table, a server did not arrive to get our drink orders or anything for more than 10 minutes. Everything seemed to be at a snail's pace here..... Price: Average price range. Not cheap. But not too pricey. Overall Experience: Good food. Bad service. Okay price. Classy interior..... for a sports bar. Might come back, only to let Bar Louie redeem itself!

When I first saw the sign come up for Bar Louie in the wonderful area of Overton Square I was overly excited. I called my friend in Nashville and I was screaming "Bar Louie is coming! Bar Louie is coming!!" But then Bar Louie came and yes, I was impressed but I was also confused as to why they didn't have a Happy Hour and why they didnt have a party room. I bet they wish they did now since they see everyones been hosting their birthday dinners there. So as of a month or two ago the Happy Hour saved them because people in Memphis aren't too keen on paying $11 for a martini. I mean not even Alchemy charges that much on all of their martinis! lol....But back to Bar Louie, the food isn't that consistent in my opinion and the food wait time is ridiculous. The best time to go would be during happy hour because then the food prices seem reasonable enough to wait. So if you do decide to swing by for a drink and maybe some people watching just go during happy hour. Its 3-6 and if they are anything like the one in Nashville or Chicago they will start having a Late Happy Hour. Which is perfect for the night owls pregaming for the next spot or whatever.

You could tell this was a chain, will never go back. The service was slow. The mixed drinks were tasty but super weak. I'm a lightweight and when I can't tell there was liquor in something it's pretty bad. The popcorn was the only thing I liked. My greek sampler appetizer was terrible. No flavor, super plain (the bread was ok, and the cucumbers, guess you can't mess those up...) A friends burger was ok, but said she could have got that anywhere, nothing special. Another friends mac and cheese was plain, not much flavor. And her wrap was super messy, dripping with juice/vinegar.

I tried Bar Louie last night for the first time (also finding out it is actually a chain, which is not at all surprising for the newly plastic, homogenized Overton Square). I tried the Voodoo Chicken, which was EXCELLENT, and a bottle of California 37 Cabernet, which was also pretty excellent. My date had some sort of Thai-inspired chicken skewer appetizer dish, which was delicious. The service was awesome, but we did have a slight issue with some dickwad who works there opening up the door and propping it open with a traffic cone, allowing a cold breeze to blow directly at us. (So classy.) But after telling our server, it was promptly rectified. (You can't have anything nice in Memphis without it being tainted by at least a little rudeness or ineptitude- it is simply the way it is in this city. I've accepted that.) anyway all in all I enjoyed it and I would go back.

First and LAST time here. Food was mediocre. They weren't very busy but the server took way longer than should've. We were ok with that...didnt complain....BUT when it took over 20 mins to bring a box for our leftovers bugs were ALL over the place....including our food which we had to cover to try to save it for the box......didn't work. They were so bad we couldnt keep them off of US! We were on the patio which I understand but when we asked the manager about it she rolled her eyes and made smart comments about sitting on the patio. She wouldnt speak to us.....didn't even make eye contact. When I tried to ask her a question she walked away. I don't write reviews unless its extremely good or extremely bad. The only reason for writing this is the "manager" Demi. Horribly unprofessional!!!!

Just wanted to add that the patio is now open, and it's fantastic! The boyfriend and I had dinner here on Saturday, and food, drinks, and service were all excellent, despite the ridiculous number of people there to watch the big game. True, if you drink, it can get a bit pricey, but that's how it goes. I'm looking forward to more great meals here!

Bar Louie is a great addition to the new Overton Square. My friends and I tried this restaurant out after the Overton Square Crawfish festival and we were more than pleasantly surprised! We shared the truffle popcorn (incredible and a steal at $3.50 if you ask me), and then I had the Chop Chop salad with shrimp. The salad was great and fresh, but I would ask for no bacon next time. Although, I am a bacon lover I seemed to get all fatty pieces which sort of put a damper on my salad experience. The only other confusing aspect for me was that our waitress seemed to keep changing. Granted, everyone that came by was very nice and accommodating, it just made it a little difficult to maneuver. Possibly they were just having a busy day because of the festival and were still working opening kinks out. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience at Bar Louie and will return. The atmosphere, food, and drinks made for a great time!

Great patio, service was good, they messed up on one drink and it took a little longer for the same person to get their food. Be aware they have started taxing 20% of your bill when it should be 15%. It may be some sort of tourism tax. The vodka/gin martini compared to the Majestic Grill is not good. Voodoo Chicken was good, and Salmon Sliders were so-so. We left and forgot to pick up a cell phone, returned 30 min later and the hostess had it.

A few weeks ago my husband and I decided to try out Bar Louie to see if this chain belonged in Overton Square. When we walked in, we were seated immediately as they weren't very busy yet. The manager sat us and said someone would be with us shortly. We then proceeded to watch not 1, not 2, but 3 different servers walk by our table, make no eye contact whatsoever, and completely ignore us. It was a Sunday for lunch, so my mouth was watering for a Bloody and I began to get a little impatient. We finally caught the manager's attention after about 10 minutes of no one coming to take our drink order, and he apologized, got our order, and then quickly found our server to scold her. When she first approached the table, she didn't even apologize, which was a little aggravating, but for the most part she was friendly. We ordered the pretzel stick appetizer which comes with 3 different dips and all were pretty good. I ordered the turkey, ham, and brie sandwhich and my husband got the buffalo chicken sandwich. Both were good, but not something I would go back for. About mid meal, I decided to order a beer, and still had no received it after about 15 minutes, so I ended up just canceling the order. They only had one bartender working, and he was obviously overwhelmed, especially since a lot of their cocktails have a lot of ingredients. Overall, the service was under average. The food was decent, but overpriced, and honestly I don't know that I would go back.

Why can't the Memphis Bar Louis carry a consistent selection of high gravity draft beers? Because of this, we are more likely to choose Bosco's or Locale on our twice a week dinners in Overton Square.

I went to Bar Louie with some friends on Thursday. The service was great and I really liked the set up of the restaurant. But it was very loud. Too loud. Also, they didn't put avocado on my chicken club, and they forgot it on my friend's too. I'd try the place again, though.

I gave this place the third star simply because of the decor and the type of crowd that it has which is nicely dressed casual or semi casual crowd. The food is mediocre with no kind flare to the dishes, the drinks are overpriced so if you are going there to drink and be merry I suggest go somewhere else or drink beforehand. The service was okay but I could tell they really were not trying to engage in any long conversations.

This is my second review and I'm not to happy about this one. We showed up around 9:30pm on June 8, 2013 to have a quick bite and a few drinks after attending a wedding. Well we showed up and the inside was crowded no seating available unless it was reserved. We went out on the patio area and sat at a table for 20minutes and no one attended our table. I really wanted to blame it on the crowd but the first time we went there was a crowd larger than this particular night. The waiter we did speak with turned out to be a bus boy and he actually got a waiter for us but she informed us it wasn't her table that the guy who was to service us was in the back. He never showed as we waited to so we went across the street to The Local. Now my review for them will be on there page. We were so disappointed because we went to try the food to give an honest opinion.

Great burgers and late hours. The patio is really cool. And they have tater tots! What more could you want? How about all burgers being $5 on Tuesday evenings? You really can't beat it! And the numerous flat-screen TV's will give you your fill of sports.

Mediocre. Moderately clean with a decent atmosphere. Spotty wine glasses and a very slow bar. Waited a long time foe a La Fin du monde And never got it. Hummus was good and the salad was marginal. Definitely overpriced. 2 salads, sliders, and a few beers should not equal a C note. Won't be back. I will go across the street to Local.

Pretty good food-except the rib-eye. I really wanted some steak and ordered it. It was bland and for the price, I expected more. None of the wait staff asked how the food was- had they i would have told them. I decided to take it home so i can give it flavor. Otherwise, the food was good- chicken nachos and tuna sandwich. Also, food came out pretty quickly and it was very busy. Drinks were great. I had La Fresca Margarita. I sat on the patio and it was wonderful. Again, don't waste your money on the rib-eye.

I went for lunch and it was great. I had the strawberry peach Bellini (very nice with real fruit purée). Then I split the turkey ham and Brie sandwich with a friend. The atmosphere was wonderful very dark and swanky feeling. Our waitress was pleasant and accommodating. Lots of TV's to watch sports on if you're interested and a lovely large patio for those days it's nice outside. I would definitely go again. Can't wait to try more of their specialty drinks and sandwiches.

Bar Louie was interesting. The interior seemed really up scale and nice not like a typical bar. However, looks can be deceiving. I would not say the service was bad but to me it not match the upscale interior. The food was good mostly typical bar food with a few signature items. One thing that drove me crazy was the beer menu. It listed about 1/3 of the draft beers available. It looked like there was about 30 different taps. I don't even ask what other beers were available it would be near impossible to recite the other 20. I would consider trying it again.

Let me start by saying I do actually like the restaurant, the food, patio, everything. This is the type of place Overton Square needs. However, when I walked in today and saw the "late night dress code" I was mortified. In light of what is still being discussed concerning hoodies and Trayvon Martin, your banning "large white t-shirts" and "gold chains" is some of the most horrible and discriminating practices I've seen in Midtown in my life. I may come back someday, but I'm deeply saddened by the management's decision to post a sign that clearly insinuates a "no 'thug'" regulation.

I've been there 5 times and the service has gotten progressively worse - if you want to wait at the bar don't order food bc the hostesses will come tell you you have lost your table. Our bartenders are usually great and the sangria is yummy. But the servers are slow and the bar manager will threaten to call security if you give her a complaint. She literally told us "I'm busy " and that's why she couldn't come talk to us even though our bartender asked her to. Done here - there are too many awesome places on the Square now to waste time at Bar Ew-ie.

After many visits, the service is still very subpar. Food is decent, if you are lucky enough to have it prepared correctly. Something is always missing from dishes that I've ordered whether it be the meat or the avocado etc. Steer clear or plan for a long drawn out dinner that you'll likely regret. You'll do far better with any of the surrounding restaurants.

I was very impressed with this spot. The atmosphere was by far my favorite part of Bar Louis. There is a huge outdoor patio nice for enjoying Memphis and people watching. The inside was cool it made me feel like I was back in L.A. which I love that trendy feel. The food was pretty good here too! We ordered the cheese quesadilla, a pasta dish, and the Ahi Tuna. I would recommend them all! They have great specials here which is another thing I love. Whether you are looking for a ladies martini night or going on a date, Bar Louis has the atmosphere for it all! I will be back here very soon

Very good restaurant. Love it in every city, but glad Memphis has one. The salmon sliders, every pasta, appetizers, and mostly everything on the menu is good. Can't go wrong and the service is one of the best. Highly recommended!

Food was great. I had the pear and blue cheese salad which was full of crisp pears, creamy blue cheese, and tasty sweet pecans. Only qualm was my server. I waited tables in my 20's. I know what it's like to work a lunch shift hungover and want nothing more than to go home. That being said, I never started rolling silver in view of my tables...especially if they were waiting patiently for 15 minutes for their checks.

A new restaurant in the Cooper-Young area of town. There are plenty of tables to eat outside on a warm night and plenty of big screen televions to eat inside and watch the game. The food is very good ( I had two dishes I'd never heard of and was immediately hooked) and very reasonably priced. I'll be a regular at this place.

We had a wonderful night celebrating a Birthday at Bar Louie!! Our waitress was on the ball and even surprised me with dessert for my birthday!! We all enjoyed our cocktails and dinner. The watermelon margaritas and pomegranate margaritas are soooo good!! Thanks for a great first time at Bar Louie!!

Ok, so this is my 2nd visit in 2wks. to Bar Louie. 1st time was a decent time w/ good food. Before moving outside, i must add, the bartender was very nice! we had 1 order of Meatball pasta(good but needed something)..Chicken was dry/chewy in Tuscan Pasta(but that sauce, YUMMY). Also felt rushed off of the patio tho it was NOT near closing time(on a monday night). A mgr.team member did stop by to chat w/ us earlier, which was very nice to have. Had a good enough experience to WANT to come back. What concerns me is my 2nd visit: 6/16/13. Arrived later in evening so it was NOT overly crowded. Sat at bar to take in the decore. Beautiful place! Bar area next to us had crumbs all over it. The bartender took order pretty quickly, but , both visits so far, they tell me they arent sure if they have the mango for the Mango Limeade(important to me since i am a non-drinker). Somehow there is a change in bartenders. 1 disappears and eventually another pops up. Dinner break maybe? So, we were browsing at the food menu, since we decided to eat at the bar this trip, we told the 2nd BT that we would probably eat there instead of outside. She got too busy w/ the servers and a few bar patrons(she could have used a hand). So we sat there and observed the still dirty counter, wait staff milling around not doing much, a drink VERY obviously going out to the wrong table(& then brought back to station and re-served to correct table). Might i add that that man(w/ his wife) was also OBVIOUSLY irritated after waiting and waiting for service & his drink!--i'm REALLY surprised he didnt walk out w/ the jestures he was making. Anyway, we decided we have waited way long enough to have food order taken(again, BT needed some backup) that we put out money for the tab, that had been presented in brandy snifter, and walked over to be seated by hostess, for outside. Nobody came to help us. Until a busboy/food runner? came and just said he'd take us outside--after confusion... Waitress came up pretty quickly and was nice--table needed wiped off first. We both ordered burgers(Chi-burger & Southwest). Came out warmish, not hot. Surprising again because it wasnt that busy. Flavor was good dispite that. Paid a little extra for salad to come w/ it, which was good as well. SO here is some insight for MANAGEMENT: please make SURE condiments are available on patio tables. We had to ask BOTH visits and it seemed a bother to get them(salt , pepper, heaven forbid hot sauce). And why o'whyyyyy do your start putting up chairs(on tables) around people on patio when they are trying to eat or visit? This makes u feel rushed and it looks bad to cars driving by & patron's walking from various business', esp. since it is THE prime spot on the square!!! This was NOT close to closing time(11pm maybe)! Guess the invisible mgr that night had staff do that--so not the servers fault. Also the rolling of napkins should be put in a less visable place. I noted a couch area of folks and the glasses did NOT look like they were getting cleared away after new ones were delivered--may have been a reason for that per the customer.(?) And what we noticed before this, inside, was too many servers were around the bar/drink station area of bar(not looking like they were working) and at a table they obviously take their breaks at, SO, where was the mgr.? The place wasnt that busy and the bartender could have used a hand. I REALLY want this place to get GREAT reviews on a regular basis, that is why i am bothering to write this review. I live in the neighborhood so i take pride in this area making it! As I have worked in this industry before, i know how it works on both ends. But many of your patrons have not and dont understand the why's of certain things they see. They just want an all-around pleasant experience. And even crumbs and piled up glasses on a table can make a difference on how an establishment appeals to one's eye. Please make sure the service AND experience matches the beautiful environment....pleeeeeeeeease?!?!?! All in all tho, i WILL go back and give it another try. And hope other folks DO check it out, if they haven't already, to form their own opinion. Thx....

We came on a Saturday night to get drinks on the patio. We had a table of 5. Terrible. It took at LEAST 20 minutes each time for 2 separate rounds of drink orders to show up. I'm a pretty patient person, but this was ridiculous. The waitress kept showing up to our table to apologize and tell us that she could only work as fast as the bar. True, but if she knows we are getting our drinks late, she could talk to the manager and offer a discount. We left after the second round because it was just taking way too long. Such a shame because they have a great location and the patio is very nice.

Girls night out was a blast at Bar Louie, The drinks were excellent and the appetizers were delicious. We were going to drink for a while then decide what we would eat, the manager came by and made suggestions for bruschetta and drinks. It was cool to have that kind of service. We will go back.

This place is great for lunch. I love heading down there with my friends or even my mom! It's a regular for us now. I love the Diva, which is a martini with SKYY Pineapple, PAMA Liqueur, pomegranate syrup, and pineapple juice. It's like a beach in my mouth! The trio dips and chips and the truffle butter popcorn are must have appetizers. When I go i usually get the Mario, which is a completely stuffed sandwich. I always have a snack for later! My friend that I go with usually says the mac and cheese is just divine. And every time I go, the servers are so nice. Only one time did I have someone not be up to par and that was a hostess on her phone (which is a pet peeve of mine). Other than that, I think Bar Louie is great. It may not be "local" but it's part of our community in Overton Square now. They have Yazoo, which totally counts as local beer, and the atmosphere is great. I love the mix of seating and I can't wait until the fall to really enjoy the patio!

Went to Bar Louie last night after a concert for some drinks and a snack. The inside is very sleek, with comfortable bar seating. The bar tender was very friendly and attentive. I had a very large Sam Adams October Fest on draft for only $3.50! After waiting about 15 minutes, we were seated outside on the patio. It was a nice night out and their patio is beautiful. I ordered the fish and chips and my friend ordered the Mac and cheese with chicken. Both came out fairly quick. My fish was a little on the crispy side, but it wasn't greasy and had great crunch to it. The chips were very well done and their ranch is great. It has a bit of a smoky flavor to it. I tried my friends Mac and cheese, not really expecting much, but it was delicious. The Mac wasn't over cooked and it wasn't drowning in some neon orange sauce. It was actually fairy light! I will definitely be returning to Bar Louie. Nice to see Overton Square busy again!

What kind of an upscale bar only has Bud and Corona? They ran out of every single premium beer Was there to watch the Grizz and they were under staffed resulting in slow service. For a new location in an awesome spot they need better management that can anticipate the obvious.

I was visiting from out of town for the Memphis In May Barbecue Cooking Championships. My friends and I found ourselves here at the end of the night because we didn't want to deal with driving back down to Beale St. I think this place has potential but just didn't hit the mark for any of us. The drinks were ok but not great. The food was ok but also nothing to write home about. My order was not as requested.. I had nachos and asked that the sour cream be left off which was not done. My food came out at least 5 minutes after the rest of my party. If it had not taken so long to get i would have sent it back to be corrected but I was hungry so ate around it. Our waiter who was really sweet but clearly stretched too thin asked if I wanted him to talk to the manager to see about getting it taken off my bill. I said sure. The manager that was on duty at the time never came out to talk to me and refused to take it off my bill. The waiter ended up taking care of half of it which I thought was really nice.. But boo on management! Next time I'm in town I definitely will not return to this establishment. Mistakes happen but the unwillingness by the manager to correct the situation left a bad taste in my mouth.

Went here Sunday night around 7 and sat immediately at the bar. The bartender was really nice, but extremely slow .. it took about 10 minutes to order water + drinks and get menus. We ordered the hummus/tapenade/tatziki appetizer, the firecracker flatbread, and the blue louie burger with tots. It took 55 minutes to get our food! Service was ridiculously slow! The appetizer was great, the flatbread was wonderful, but the burger was just meh. I understand that the night was busy, but that long of a wait usually merits an apology drink or food (Local has graciously done this before). The food is reasonably priced, but the drinks are outrageously expensive. I don't think I'd come back here ... Local or Bardog seem to fit the bill much better with the same atmosphere/upscale bar food type place.

I think the atmosphere is great & the location is awesome. The drinks are awesome & creative.... but the establishment doesn't know how to gauge the amount of alcohol to serve its patrons! Many patrons walking off the street were already hammered and were still able to get drinks. One patron even got so hammered at the bar he fell off the stool. He was then escorted off and the manager lost track of him. The guy walked off and on to the next bar. As a bartender you should know who you are serving and keep track of what they are drinking! The food is ok.....Just ok. They definitely need to get a regular ranch dressing on the menu! Let me suggest the nachos. Also the portion sizes are weird. The small plate selections are bigger than average. I would suggest they cut down on the portion to save themselves money. It is usually super crowded and not anywhere to sit so you'd be better off trying it on a weekday if you've never been there before. Oh and lets not forget the service. They are seriously understaffed! The waitress had tables inside and outside and was confused as to who had what! Food and drinks took so long to come I forgot what I ordered! Nonetheless this establishment is definitely less together than the competition in the immediate area. This was my 2nd visit and I don't think I'll return.

Great food. Great atmosphere. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience. I will definitely recommend it. The tvs should be a little bigger or positioned a little differently but that is a minor thing that can be changed in a heart beat. Can't wait to go back!

Its a cool atmosphere, the food's okay, no complaints there. We waited about 15 minutes to have our turn to order drinks at the bar, stood while drinking them because the bar was full of other people also waiting for their seats. Then we continued to wait about an hour and a half to be seated, which isn't too awful for a Saturday night, but I'd say they need an area other than the bar for those waiting to be seated (again, too many people sitting and waiting, just taking up space, rather than ordering drinks). We spent most of the hour+ standing in the way between people eating their meals and servers trying to get through the walkway. Perhaps investing in some buzzers so we could step outside while waiting (the hostess' were using the "name-calling" method, which probably contributed to wait-time because it was pretty loud). When we were seated, our waitress only came to the table to give us waters and get our orders. We never got water refills or any sort of "check-up." I probably won't go back, because there are other places with similar food/drinks and better service/shorter waits.
