Yours truly likes it spicy. The Crazy Noodle delivers. Don't let the name fool you, this is a no spin zone! The curry noodle is great. Even Melissa Francis liked it! The price and service is fair and balanced as well.

I love their Jjambbong. So glad I found this spot having moved to Memphis from LA. Their food has quite original korean flavor - not the fusion bland stuff. I can't really go often because of an infant so I miss the food a lot. Ddeokbokki was really good too. Can't wait to go back and try other things on the menu! Price is reasonable as well and the service has always been pretty good.

The crazy noodle has all your favorite Korean noodle dishes and even the ones you didn't know about! I've been wanting to try naengmyun (korean cold noodles) for a while, but I've never had the guts to do it. The waiter encouraged me to take the plunge and I'm so glad I did! Savory beef with chewy noodles, cucumbers, lettuce, and bean sprouts. The whole thing had this wonderful sesame pickle taste with a hint of spice. The cold temperature was perfect for a hot summer day. My husband ate the crazy bibim noodle. He wasn't sure what made it so crazy, but he said it was certainly delicious. When we peered at the back of the menu, we couldn't believe our eyes! Who could have guessed this place would have all our favorite Korean desserts?! Patbingsu? Yes please! I never thought I'd be able to get hotteok outside of Korea. The check came and we had gotten an appetizer, two entrees, and a dessert for 30 bucks. Nice price, Crazy Noodle! We don't live in Memphis, but we'll be back when we come back through.

I wanted to try this place for a long time. It is supe laid back and cool. Appetizers were great and my chicken curry noodles were too but no more than 5 little pieces of chicken in it.

I was downtown with my daughter and decided to stop by and give it a try. Let me start by saying that it was good and I can only base this review on the two menu items that we ordered. I ordered the bibim naengmyun which was ok. It was not the best, nor was it the worst... I'll stick to Du Won Jong, or my homemade bibim naengmyun. My daughter ordered the tteokbokki ( I don't know if I'm spelling it right.. LOL) which was quite tasty, again... It wasn't the best, nor was it the worst. The tteokboki was actually better tasting that Du Won Jong and half the price of it too. I was trying not be rude by looking at all of the plates that passed by... (which looked great by the way). The restaurant smelled great! When I come back, we will try some other dishes as they had a variety of dishes. I would recommend that you stop by and give it a try.

I came here for lunch with my boyfriend. We came around 11:30pm on a Wednesday and it was empty. We ordered the Bi-Bim Bap noodles, crazy noodle soup, and tofu jigae. Each dish is about 10 dollars and the soup noodles come in this huge pot. I enjoyed the crazy noodle soup, partly because it was the least spicy of them all. It was a good hot dish on a rainy day. I also enjoyed the bi bim bap noodles. It was very chewy and had a good mixture of meat, veggies, and pickled veggies. I didn't try to jigae because it was too spicy but my boyfriend enjoyed it. Good quality Asian food in Memphis!

Stopped in here with a friend for dinner while I was in town for a concert down the street at Minglewood Hall. It seemed like a little hole in the wall spot so we weren't totally sure what to expect, but ohhhhh man, we were SO excited because this place RULED! We sat at the high top tables in the front of the restaurant, but there was also another seating area as well as a cute little patio that would be really nice on nights that aren't as hot as it is now in August. Our server was super friendly and attentive. All along the walls, little dolls and action figures from various comics, Disney films, etc. were lined up which was a cute, fun touch. The menu is pretty big. I have a hard time believing there's anyone who wouldn't be able to find something to love here! I went with the crazy bibimbap noodles on our server's recommendation and it was excellent. The dish was a delicious combination of flavors and the perfect amount of spice. They've got a decent selection of bottled beers you can buy-- think Blue Moon, Stella, etc. We ended up staying a while just to hang out, enjoy our food, and chat because the restaurant had such a nice, chill vibe it was really fun to stay for a bit. If you're looking for a super delicious and very reasonably priced meal in Midtown Memphis, head to The Crazy Noodle!

If I could give a negative 1 million on service for this place, I would. Owners, instead of maintaining your Mercedes, maybe you should work on your service. Today is Tuesday, August 4, after 4:45 PM. Check your servers that answer the phone. Last time I was there was over 2 years ago. You allowed an off-duty police officer to 'speak his mind' about women in general. He dropped the c-bomb amongst other words while children and their families were in the dining room. My husband asked him to refrain from cursing out loud and in front of women and small children. The owner and her stoned boyfriend DEFENDED the cop. I asked for the check and the lady asked if I would ever be back. NO TO CRAZY NOODLE OR KWIK CHEK!!! They let the drunk cop stay while we hurriedly paid the check and left. TODAY at 4:52 pm, August 4th, the server who answered the phone, to her honor, was super rude about the time they opened and about possibly taking a to-go order. She told me o would have to call back later, unless I had a big orders. Later like after 5:15. Fuck that, I went straight to Robata after leaving LBOE, which is 15 feet away from Crazy Noodle. Crazy Noodle owners, you still aren't making good judgement calls. I'll never spend a dime on either of your properties.

I went with a dinner club. We tour around different restaurants in Memphis. We had 7 and I called ahead to let them know we had a larger group because I read the reviews. They had a table reserved for us with menus and place settings already set up. I was impressed because it's pretty casual. The server was excellent although she was the only server there. We sat in a side room that looked like a sun room. It was winter so the room was kind of cold. We ordered the veggie and beef (wontons) and I forgot the menu name. They were excellent. I had the Jap Cha and added beef. It seemed large but I finished every bite. It was really fantastic. You can ask for forks if you have trouble with the chopsticks, the noodles can be slippery. If you bring your own wine it is $3 per person, not per bottle but I felt it was reasonable. I highly recommend this food for a winter day or take out or even just a casual evening.

WOW, This place is amazing! I went 3 times in 4 days! They have an amazing Veggie Ramen with Tofu that is spicy and to die for! It's a huge portion for a to go size and watching being made in front of your eyes you can see they take great care in preparing it! If you are vegan ask for it with no egg! I would have been here 4 days in a row but they close for lunch at 2! The staff was super nice, and they were playing awesome music every time I went in! This place is a must if you like Pho! and You PHO I do!

Look, I don't want to be that girl, but I'm going to be. I liked this place before everyone else did and I was there every other day, and even sometimes two times in a row. There, I did it. It's the smallest little box of love to the left of the iconic Kwik Check on Madison Ave. There is a small sign, but it's really just a small bookmark compared to the other highlights of Overton Square. Honestly, it's the jewel away from the Square. I often get the curry noodle and curry soup. And it's really one of those places that EVERYTHING is delicious, but you'll have to wait for it. Everything is freshly made. I start with the veggie jean or fish jean with a side of rice. The sauce is off the hook; I'm not mad about it. The "Cold Noodle Dishes" are not really cold, but some of the ingredients are raw, which makes the dish cold. Also, very good. It makes it feel like cheating diet food because it's a mix of asian salad, brown noodles, and some kind of protein. Also, let the spiciness be your prerogative. It comes mild and I've seen people cry from the spiciness, but they're into that kind of stuff. It's hot. (Pun intended). Speaking of hot, there's not dessert, so slow your roll..there's not ice cream. But you can bring your own booze which doesn't suck. The wait staff have their own stories being quirky, interesting, and attentive. My favorite part is how busy they get when they get busy. You'll see the staff running around frantically to refill waters and greet guests. Just occupy yourself with the war wall of grown figurines and happy meal toys. Side Note:It's not a first date kind of space as it'll challenge your culinary exploration...and you'll smell like Asian food, which is also your prerogative if you're into that. Enjoy The Crazy Noodle. It's pretty damn good.

I found this place one night I wanted Asian food and but wanted something a little bit better than the standard fare. Little did I know I would find a restaurant resembling an enlarged home kitchen and dining area attached to a convenience store, which I later found out was also a restaurant. The waiting staff is friendly and readily available to explain the different menu items since most people don't exactly know Korean noodle dishes. The menu is made up of hot and cold (yes, cold) noodle dishes that are served with plentiful fresh vegetables, and I decided to have the Jam-Bong, a soup with squid, shrimp, chicken, mussels, carrots, zucchini, and cabbage all served in a spicy chicken broth, and despite the warning from my waiter, I decided to take the challenge. The first taste told me everything that I needed to know about what I now my favorite Asian restaurant: They understand flavor. Yes, the soup was incredibly spicy, like I was told, but it wasn't an aggressive spiciness, it was complex and meshed well with the seafood and was highlighted by the sweetness of the vegetables. If you ever find yourself wanting something new, and haven't been here, this is the place for you.

Holy noodles yum! I was hesitant to try a new place tonight, but man am I glad I did. I had the vegetarian ramen with no egg. Omg it was sooooo good. It was a little on the spicy side, but I loved every bite! It was also very decently priced, and the portion was more than I could eat in this one sitting. We will certainly be back.

The server took the order for us when we were seated. We were expecting to have our food within 15 mins but instead another server came to us and tried to take the order for us AGAIN. Apparently the first server didn't give our order to the kitchen. It was one of my worst experiences for dining out.

Saw the pictures on yelp and was super excited about trying the noodles here. Unfortunately, the pics were a little deceiving - the food was mediocre. I would call it fancy instant noodles. They use package ramen and then add an egg, some veggies and whatever meat you order. You could pretty much make it at home - my expectations was too high. The only thing that really got me annoyed was their policy on packing leftovers. They won't give u a box- they have to do it for you bc the server said customers might make a mess and it might be hot (my soup has been on the table for 40 mins- I doubt it's hot) I am one of those customers that like to pack my own food so I can pick what i want to take home especially if it's soup. I'm also a server so I know how to put soup in container without making a mess so of course - i was annoyed that they couldn't accommodate my simple request of a box. Once tried is good enough for me.

I think Crazy Noodle should be renamed Noodle Hut, but whatever - the noodles are crazy good, actually the noodles are just fine (possibly instant, but I ordered vegan, so I imagine if they do make their own noodles they would have egg in them...), but the broth was insanely tasty. The bathroom is mad cool, so don't repress your feelings; relax and express release in this therapeutically droll facility.

Healthy delicious food. By far my favorite place to be in memphis to eat and enjoy myself. Every entree is relatively ten dollars and you get your money's worth by the amount and most importantly by the skill that's put into the food. To go along with it, the atmosphere is new age authentic. It shows some roots but also some young flare.

I'm a huge fan of Korean food and I've had some great food when I was in Nashville and Atlanta. Everything on the menu were noodles (what else did you expect from the name?), but they cooked it very nicely and it was slightly different (but in a good way) from what I've been used to. I guess depending on when you go it can get busy and you can end up waiting for quite a while, but we weren't in a rush so it didn't bother us. This along with Kwik Check next door are probably some of the better Korean food places in Memphis

I LOVED my lunch here and I only regret that I didn't return the next day for lunch again as I had planned. I picked a phó place instead, which turned out to be a yucky choice, so I wasted my last day to eat at The Crazy Noodle. Bummer, but I fully intend to hightail it back here the next time I am in Memphis. I originally stumbled upon The Crazy Noodle because I was searching for a phó restaurant when I landed in Memphis. However, the Yelp app kept directing me to TCN in my search and I decided to give it a try (plus Midtown has quite a good assortment of local restaurants, so it's always a good bet). I could smell the mouthwatering aromas from the parking lot - meat sizzling, sesame seed oil, spices and stir-frying vegetables. Yum. TCN is very cute, with outdoor seating and a big cooking area out in the open where I perched at my hightop table and watched the owner cook my lunch. The eatery kind of reminded me of a tiki bar - you have to visit to see what I mean. And the decor is funky, they have kids' toys from the 90s decorating the tables. The menu is kind of an abbreviated, fresh spin on traditional Korean, and the items I chose from it were deeee-licious. As the owner/chef pointed out to me, she uses a lot more fresh veggies and doesn't offer those predinner dishes of Ban Chan. The service was very friendly, and I came during a slow period, so I didn't wait long for my food. Both the server and cook were quick to accommodate me: I only wanted half of an order of beef man du and so she fried me up and charged me for just two crisp, delicious little golden pockets of beef dumpling, served with dark, fragrant dipping sauce. My meal was as fresh as I could hope for. I watched the chef/owner sautée chicken, blanch noodles, and wield her knife like a boss chopping up vegetables. I was served a huge dish, the Crazy Bi Bimbap noodle bowl with chicken. It was a perfect combination of saucy, crunchy, cool, creamy, spicy, hot - and the flavors were so good together! My lunch with a half appetizer was $13 - this is a GREAT deal for the quality and amount of food. TCN will be my first stop the next time I'm in Memphis.

Delicious! Under staffed so took awhile to place the order. Atmosphere minimal and a little chilly inside. (Temp outside = 41). But my Crazy Bi-Bim Noodle chicken was outstanding! Departed the Crazy Noodle full but not uncomfortable. A basic $10 lunch. Being under staffed is irritating and if in a hurry next time I'll go somewhere else. But I will return on a more relaxed day because the food was great. Would give 5 stars for the food but the ambiance is lacking luckily I was with my best friend.

  • Kevin C.

It deserves 4 stars, but the service was horrible. It took almost 40 minutes to get my food, then the server came back and had to ask me what did I order. I ordered the spicy seafood noodles and the veggie dumplings. Food is awesome and my nose is running right now. Which I love, but I have no idea what's up with service. Ok. They gave me my beer for free, so they get the 4th star now. Lol!!!

I loved what I had here - the ramen bowl with beef. Unfortunately, for someone not well versed in Korean food, that's about the only thing I could identify. It was really good, but better menu explanations and maybe a few more basic dishes (and I'm an incredibly adventurous eater - just don't know a lot about Korean food!) would be really nice. It is a little pricey, and it does take awhile to get the food, but they're making it all to order. Speaking of, the space is really cool. Nice open kitchen, really friendly servers, and it smells heavenly!

I really like the food at Crazy Noodle. It's always made fresh, as far as I can tell, and they clearly put a lot of care into the food preparation. I'm a vegetarian, so I tend to get the Crazy Bi-bim Veggie Noodles or the Crazy Noodle Veggie Soup. Make sure you ask for the vegetarian broth if that's what you want. The reason I'm not giving five stars is that every time I've gone over the past year-and-a-half, every server has been a little weird. Don't get me wrong, please, they are very sweet and well-meaning. But they're just not very good, awkward to the point of comedy at best, incompetent and inattentive at worst. One super-hot day this summer, I ordered the Crazy Bi-bim Noodles, which is a cold dish. The server brought Crazy Noodle Soup. I told her that wasn't what I ordered, and she tried to get me to eat it anyway. I tried to be as gentle as possible when I told her I wouldn't be eating spicy soup on a 95-degree day. Another time, I asked for tea that was half sweet and half unsweet. Pretty much every eatery I've been to in Memphis has heard of this before. At Crazy Noodle, the poor server was dumbfounded. She explained to me that the sweet tea was pre-made all the way sweet, so she couldn't make it halfway sweet. I explained to her how to fill up the glass halfway with sweet and halfway with unsweet, but apparently it was so confusing that the manager had to make it for her. It took so long for a refill that I was already finished with my meal, so I asked for the drink to-go. She brought it in a cup with a lid that didn't fit, and no straw. So, you see what I mean about these lovely servers being very sweet, but comedically incompetent. It won't stop me from going back and recommending the place to others, but you have to go with an open mind and lots of patience.

I'm only giving this a 2 because it's new, and I'm sure they've got kinks to work out. Otherwise it would be 1 all the way. The restaurant is located next to Kwik Check in the same location that was formerly Umai. The glassed in patio area (where most of the seating is) has conditioned air, but the temperature fluctuates by 20 degrees within a matter of minutes. The other area is a bar with the small kitchen located behind the bar. It looks neat. Think sushi bar. They have wine service for 3.50. Had to ask twice for wine glasses, as in get up and go ask for someone to bring them to us. They were finally brought to us. Had to pour our own wine. Paid 3.50 to rent wine glasses. Since we were there for 2 hours, I guess the going rate to rent wine glasses is 3.50/hr (3.5/2*2) All of the dishes are Asian inspired. They have hot and cold sections of the menu. Both of our dished came from the hot side. I ordered a spicy seafood dish. My spouse ordered a tofu/vegetable bowl. 1.75 hours later, food arrives. Mine was decent. Pretty single note, but good none-the-less. My noodles were al dente and appeared to be a whole grain vermicelli. There was supposed to be squid, I got octopus instead. I guess 8 legs is 8 legs. Guess it could have been spiders. My spouse's dish was just meh. I've made better ramen out of a pack in college. The noodles were squishy and the veg/broth bland. The manager dude sat around and talked and drank beers the whole time. Chatted with family/friends. Pretty sure our order got pushed back so his people could eat first. The spoon and chop sticks look like bad decoration pieces. It was damn near impossible to eat with them. The spoon is so shallow my wife gave up and I neanderthaled that bittch and turned it up and slurped. I'll let someone else tell me it's gotten better before I go back...

Went here for the 1st time for lunch today. The place was totally empty. We ordered the fish jean as an appetizer. This is basicaly egg fu young with fish. Was okay. We ordered the Jam Bong and the Bibim Seafood Noodle. Both were spicy dishes which we preferred. I have to say, these dishes were not bad, but they were not "asian" enough for me. I was hoping may some bean sprouts and herbs with both as bean sprouts and herbs are the staple of most asian noodle soups. It was not a bad experience but for $9.99 an entree I think I would do more authentic like Emerald Thai or Saigon Le.

Really loved their spicy korean ramen. My friend got the chicken noodle soup and enjoyed it. Service was fine. Had a great meal and great first experience there.

Thoughts it was great! Not sure what i had now - Bang Jam or something. The two people with me loved their meal - as did I from what I tasted. My only issue is when we walked in we were the only people there and it still took a long time to get our food. Just be prepared to wait - it is worth it.

One more restaurant serving decent Asian cuisine (noodles) in our neighborhood. The menu is not very exhaustive and very well described. The portion size is good enough for one person. I have always seen only one server and one chef (may be two). The wait time is generally around 3-5 mins to get seated (even if the tables are empty) before they clean the tables. For big parties (5-6 people), we have waited for almost 25-30 mins to get our orders. Overall, the noodles are delicious and you should consider going here once if you haven't visited this place yet.

I really wanted it to be better cause I just moved from an area in Boston that had five or six korean restaurants within a quarter mile of my apartment... I just thought the food was mediocre, but the setting was awesome! Star trek action figures and whatnot... I'll definitely go back to grab a beer and try again! I got the curry chicken noodles and the "veggie-jean." It's a leisurely meal place--don't go there if you're crammed for time or are super hungry.

  • Joelle P.

For starters, they only serve beer. I think we all know how I feel about that. That being said, you can bring your own wine for a $3.50 corkage fee. Just wish I had known that before I got there. I hate dining without my wine...does that make me a wino? Perhaps. I will say that the server was extremely sweet and kind. However, she was clearly overwhelmed. It appeared there was only one person in the kitchen and only one waitress (not good with a semi-full restaurant - people were at 7 out of 10 or so tables). I ordered the Jam Bong which was extremely spicy and needed some more water ASAP!! The waitress was MIA for awhile so I had no choice but to go look for her. She said she'd bring water but it took 15 minutes and 2 reminders to actually get it. I was sucking on ice cubes to keep the fire at bay. Aside from that, my food was delightful. I like the inside porch area but it was a little chilly. I kept my jacket and scarf on the whole time. I've reflected quite a bit on that night and I think they just need more staff. I would definitely come back with a bottle of wine, jacket, and the foresight to order drinks way in advance. Definitely A-OK.

I love this place so much! They have a great variety of options and the portions are huge so there's always something for lunch or dinner left over to take home. The only downside I've found is the indoor temperature in the winter--it's freezing. It's as though they don't have indoor heating or something. So, when you're waiting on soup, which has never taken less than 35 minutes for me, it can get a little brisk. But, the patient patron gets rewarded well with a steaming hot bowl of delicious goodness :) Definitely a must to try if you haven't been.

I love this place! It's layout is very cozy, casual, and chill. The people that work there are very nice and helpful. Service is relatively fast. Never had a problem with them at all! And their prices are pretty good too! The food is absolutely delicious. Almost every item on the menu is spicy though, so if you're not into hot and spicy food, this might not be the place for you. Their appetizers are so yummy. I always get the veggie sushi and their tofu jean. Highly recommend those. And their main dishes are an incredible explosion of flavor in your mouth! I always get the Kimchi Noodle. It's pretty spicy but worth it. I don't usually go for spicy food, but I had to make an exception for this place because it was just that good. And if you're a vegetarian, they have great options for you! Definitely worth giving this place a shot the next time you want to eat out and want to try something new.

Walked in to a very friendly staff which included only 1 server. The it was 25 degrees outside and 15 degrees INSIDE the Crazy Noodle! The Crazy Noodle was crazy cold!!!! However, i ordered the Dumpling Soup (forgot the menu name) and it was DELICIOUS!!!! Service - Slow (only one server) Atmosphere - Cold (freezing outside and freezing inside) Food - 5 Stars!!!!

Really like the food at Crazy Noodle! The menu can be a bit intimidating at first, but my server helped me choose a delicious dish. The flavors were perfectly layered and the ratio of noodle to broth was excellent. My friend and I shared the fried mandu appetizer with beef. These Korean dumplings were lightly fried and served with a delicious sauce. Typically we don't eat much fried food but these turned out to be very good. I ordered the Yukgaejang (beef) on the recommendation of the server. The dish was quite spicy - it was perfect for me but I wouldn't recommend it to those who are sensitive to spicy food. My friend ordered the seafood ramen but was delivered the spicy Korean ramen. When his dish arrived, we didn't notice the seafood missing right away and our server never returned to check on us. Since we hadn't been there before, initially we weren't sure that the wrong dish was delivered. After asking for the check and mentioning the mistake to the server, she said, "oops, I ordered it wrong! Well, at least it was $2.00 cheaper". Very odd way to handle a mistake like this, as price was certainly not a factor in choosing our meal. Overall, the food is delicious (5 stars) but the service is lacking (2 stars). The value is also incredible - 4 beers, an app and 2 bowls of noodles for under 40 bucks. If I could make a recommendation to the restaurant it would be to have a counter order service (like Flying Fish) instead of a full service concept. The restaurant is too busy for 1 server but the price-point is too low for 2 servers to make any money. What they have ended up with is an overburdened server that is too busy to pay attention to detail.

My dad and I just left here after waiting an hour for our food. The service is a ditsy mess and it wasn't even busy. The people that came in 20 min after us got their appetizers way before we even seen ours. I was really excited to eat here but we waited an hour!! An hour and there were only two other tables there!! Unacceptable. The only thing on our table before we left was our very warm and weak sweet teas. It was more like tap water with a pinch of sweet tea essence. So that wasn't even right. Sad. Sad dad, sad me and sad day.

It's a small place but has a lot of charm. I ordered a beef soup and my buddy got the same thing but with chicken. Beautiful presentation and even better taste. No chain can copy, it was perfect. My daughter, who doesn't eat out of her comfort zone, ordered some plain noodles. While they were flavored nicely they made it a little too spicy for her taste, but she liked it before the spice kicked in. They only have regular tea, no sweet. Most of the dessert items were not available, but my daughter got a piece of carrot cake. It was large and she loved it. Very polite waitress and a positive experience. I WILL come here again.

Let's just say this is a average noodle joint... I sat towards the front. Not many guest in the restaurant but service took long to bring drinks and take our order. I ordered seafood ramen and server messed up my request.. Soup came from a ramen bag. How did I know that? I saw chef open a bag of instant noodles. Quite disappointing when it's a noodle shop. Overall the taste was good but soup is could easily be made at home.

As another regular of kwik chek I was very excited when the crazy noodle opened. I am sad to say the excitement ended there. The service well let's just be honest is beyond bad. It felt like it was the servers first day and they had no one to train them. No major mistakes, but a mountain of small yet important things. The wait was insane. I am normally pretty patient, but most of us are on a pretty tight clock when it comes to lunch. 50 minutes after taking our order no food in sight. The couple that ordered right before us asked if they could just get their food to go. Guess what we had to do the same thing. All that being said the food was pretty good, but definitely not good enough to overcome everything else. Nice try, but poor execution.

This place is fantastic! Excellent food, great service and mellow atmosphere. I love it! I read in some earlier reviews that the service was slow, but we've never experienced an extraordinary wait. I think patrons should keep in mind that the food is fresh and that will always take longer. It's definitely worth it. The prices are reasonable. The food is very authentic and the best noodle place I've been able to locate in the area.

When it is cold outside all i can think about is pulling up a seat and grabbing a huge hot bowl of ramen. The staff is great and the cook is more then willing to customize any of the dishes. The place is in need of a face lift but over look that i promise you will enjoy it.

So we decided to try Crazy Noodle in our constant search for good food in a town that is abysmal on the culinary front (if you lived in most decent sized cities like Atlanta, Houston, LA, Chicago, Boston, NYC you have to agree). When we walked in we were very pleasantly surprised. The smell of the food seemed right on point. The food was plentiful, flavorful and cheap (less $10/dish). We had the Bibim beef dish and the Jam-Bong noodle soup....huge portions and heavenly...not as spicy as I like but great nonetheless. We actually got a couple more dishes to go as well. The atmosphere is chill with a sushi-style kitchen...the chefs are accommodating and really nice. Decent selection of beers but no wine. They will charge a $3.50 corkage fee if u bring in your own wine. Why not 5 stars? No more specialty draughts for a while (distribution issue I know) and while I know that it's a noodle house....a few more none-noodle dishes would be great....if I could I'd give it 4.5

We accidently ate lunch at the Crazy Noodle today thinking we were going for Bi Bim Bop at the Kwik Check (they are attached). The waiter was nice but very overwhelmed as the place was very full and he needed help. He told me the Bi Bim Bop was next door but the lady cooking said that they could get it for me and they did! It was as awesome as I remembered for the old Petra Café. My husband had the Crazy Bi Bim Noodle and really enjoyed it. It was a bit pricey for lunch as with 1 tea (1 water) plus tip we spent $30.00. Next time we might try the Kwik Check, but the Crazy Noodle was very good!!!

The Korean soft tofu soup was delightful! Ambiance is great too. The little action figures were fun to play with while we waited and during our meal. Everything was made to order which caused service to be a little slow but was worth the wait. Definitely going back!

The Crazy Noodle is crazy good. Stopped by here on a whim with a craving for some noodles, which seems bizarre considering I just graduated from college and I've been binging on ramen for half a century. It's located next door to the Kwik Check on Madison, so you might miss it if you're not careful. The waitress guided me to try the Korean ramen, which was a semi-spicy, vegetarian, super salty noodle dish. I'm hooked. I've been back three times since. I'm not very good at branching out once I know I like something (I've been ordering the same cheese pizza at Memphis Pizza Cafe for six years, okay?), but everything I've seen on the menu looks delicious.

Stopped here right after we arrived in town. The restaurant looks fine with a crowd. However, ever since we sat down, it took forever for the waitress to show up to take our order. Then it took another 45 minutes for our food to arrive. The waitress was not really willing to help. Don't come in if you are very hungry. You probably end up dead due to starving.

We've been there three times and it's been great every time . We went by Sunday afternoon but they were closed we went to another nearby ramen restaurant and were terribly disappointed . We'll be at Crazy Noodle Saturday !!!!

I have to write this review even though I didn't buy dinner from this restaurant - I just want to say publicly that if you have allergies, you can trust them to tell you what is safe and what is not. I can say this because I was visiting Memphis from out of town, came here for dinner, ordered my food, and mentioned that I had a severe seafood allergy. The waiter came out and apologized, but said that the chef could not guarantee that anything on the menu would be totally free of seafood, even the vegetarian items. He knew that meant I couldn't eat there, and he was honest. I really admire that, appreciate it, and wished there was a way I could show my appreciation. Thankfully, there is! Yelpers without fish allergies: go spend some money here to thank them for having some integrity!

I don't know what happened since this summer, but whomever is the new cook needs to either go train under some Korean mama's and grandma's or look for new employment because what they served me was just red water with meat in it. Jap Chae is supposed to be a bit spicy, the broth a mix of beef stock and red pepper paste. But the "soup" they sent me? No ma'am , sir, or any other gender identifier. It was just what I said it was, red water. It was tasteless, the meat was a bit tough, the noodles too soft. The tteokbokki was pretty good, but it's really, REALLY hard to mess up spicy rice cakes.

Crazy Noodle is GREAT! It has quickly become one of my favorite restaurants in Memphis. I eat here every chance I get. I need to branch out and try some of the other dishes, but I liked the first dish I tried so much that I've eaten it about 45 times in a row: SPICY KOREAN RAMEN (add chicken). It's a large bowl of noodle soup, with delicious hearty broth - perfect for a cold day. Trust me - just try it and you'll be hooked. It's not a fancy place at all, but that's not really what you want from your corner noodle shop anyway. Just really good, very filling food. Excellent!

Kinda Crazy if you don't like this place. Some negative reviews are posted for slow service, our service was a bit sluggish but no deductions necessary in the rating. The food makes up for any delay, and hey why not spend a few more minutes talking together? Bond people. I had the Yuk-Gae Jang "Beef, turnip, bean sprouts mushroom, onions, green onions served in a spicy beef broth", it was crazy good! (and no, I won't stop doing that for the duration of this review). Also tried my gal's Curry Noodle (chicken, potato, carrots, onions, bell peppers cooked in a curry sauce), Jam Bong (squid, shrimp, beef carrot, mushroom, zucchini, cabbage, onions served in a spicy chicken broth). Everything was so full of flavor and love. Our server clued us in that menu items labeled "Cold Noodle Dishes" aren't really cold, they are cooked like others but contain some cold ingredients. Service was helpful and friendly (they sensed our confusion looking at the menu). Our first time here, definitely not our last time here. Well done you crazy noodle!

My wife and I went on a Sunday night and ordered take out. Service was fast, the seafood ramen and mando ramen were hot, just the right spice level, oh and the fried mandos were a great starter. We saw people bringing wine in so we will know to do that next time.

I love crazy noodle. Love their food, atmosphere. Everything. But if they could pick some SOLID hours and stick with them, that would be awesome. I dont know how many times i have had my hopes up on coming to eat only to find they randomly decided to close again. When yelp, google, etc. all claim they're open. It's a tease. No food could replace crazy noodle so its a little disappointing. Other than that....it's great.

I was looking so forward to eating here based on some of the other reviews I read. Unfortunately, it did not meet my expectations. The menu looked great (and perhaps some of the other items are wonderful), but the Curry noodle was just much too salty for me. That, plus the fact that we were freezing at our table and were unable to get timely service made it very hard for me to give Crazy Noodle a higher rating.

Try one of the vege-jeans, they are crispy vegetable pancakes (fritters?) with a delicious sauce. Sometimes the food can take a little long to cook, but it's usually worth the wait. I really enjoy the Spinach Daen-Jang-Guk Noodle soup, which is my go-to spicy treat when the weather's cold and rainy. They have a nice selection of microbrews from the Lost Coast brewery in the Pacific Northwest as well- try the Downtown Brown or the Tangerine Wheat beer.

Great spot right next to the Kwik Check convenience store. Both places are owned by the same family. We came in on a Wednesday night for dinner, and the cook had to be called in from next door to make the food haha. The decor to this place is hipster and kitchy, but in a good way. Wouldn't be a bad spot for a first date if you both liked Korean food. The food itself is fantastic; there's a whole menu of different sorts of noodle and rice dishes. This spot compares favorably to any Korean spot in a major city in the Northeast or out in Cali. The only thing that's missing is BBQ items! But really, I don't care too much about the grill, but gimme some Korean BBQ wings! That's why I only give it a 4 star review. That and also they were out of many selections of beers, because of inability to secure stock. The operations of this place definitely can stand an upgrade.

Got to say I'm pretty impressed on my first visit. I come at closing and they sat me regardless. the food was great, the waitress will be sure to tell you if you order a spicy dish and offer a scale of spiciness! I really recommend you give this quiet off the beaten path spot a try!

As a shamless noodle lover (in college, giving up noodles for Lent meant saying goodbye to nine half-opened boxes of various pastas), I'm thrilled that Memphis now has a proper Asian noodle shop. Crazy Noodle, which opened this week, is located in the old Umai Space on Madison. It's owned by Ji Choi (the sister of the woman who runs the Kwik Check next door) and features an expanded, Korean-inspired menu that goes beyond the Kwik Check's bi-bim-bap. My dinner date and I decided to order entirely too much food and split everything. We started with a side of fish-jean ($4), a plate of five crispy-fried fish patties circled around a small bowl of mild chili sauce. Though it's listed as a side item, it's perfectly suited to be an appetizer. For dinner, we ordered curry noodles, Jap-Chae and a bowl of noodle soup that I think was called Ja-Jang noodles (sometimes, I get so excited about eating that I forget to write things down). The curry noodles ($8.99) are thin, Ramen-style noodles that are served cold, plated next to, but not quite under, a spicy brown curry. The idea is that the curry sauce will warm the noodles up. The curry has diced potatoes, bell peppers, onions and chicken. I really liked the Jap-Chae noodles. They reminded me a little bit of Pad Thai in consistency. The soy-based sauce clings to the rice noodles, which are topped with mushrooms, peppers, onions, sweet potatoes and sesame seeds. The Jap-Chae noodles aren't super spicy, but they've got a lot of flavor. Curry noodle from Crazy Noodle, Memphis, Tenn. The best part of the meal was by far the Ja-Jang (I think) noodles ($9). I really wish I had taken better notes. The name's not important. What you need to know about this dish (which is pictured at the top of the post) is that it's a hot pot of happiness. The bowl comes with thin white noodles, diced bell peppers, tender mushrooms, potatoes, onions and ground beef in a spicy, red broth. The spice isn't outright - I ate a few bites before I realized that the soup has a lingering slow burn aftertaste that's not at all unpleasant. Crazy Noodle's atmosphere is pretty casual. The kitchen is exposed, sushi-bar style, and you can watch the cooks work if you sit in the front room. The main dining room has a wall of colorful graffiti and the bathroom is wallpapered with pages from Asian newspapers. Crazy Noodle is open 11 a.m. - 9 p.m. Tuesday - Saturday and from 12 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Sunday. They take credit cards, and most of the menu items are less than $10.

We love Kwik Check so we decided to support the family's other business and eat at Crazy Noodle. I thought the food was great. The service was as slow as it could be but we had a group of 8 and came during lunch. I saw someone comment about the staff sitting around...we got that impression too and felt like they could have worked a bit harder to get our food out in a timely manner. That being said, the food is great! Plenty of veggie/vegan options. There are hot and cold noodle dishes. My bf had a hot noodle dish made with sweet potato noodles and I had the veggies soup. The spice was good and the portions were huge. Another girl had the seared tuna and said it tasted fresh (in Memphis, imagine that) The chopsticks are a bit hard to eat with. I think they need a little more time to work out the logistics but if definitely has potential to be a great little place!

Unfortunately, the service was slow. After a half hour, we finally got our food. It was decent, but nothing special. One of the entrees was super spicy! The server was nice.

Ignore the early reviews from when this place first opened and the service was lousy. (It was.) They've stepped up in all the right places, unless you count occasionally cleaning the months worth of dead gnats off the windowsills. Otherwise, the numerous-but-not-overwhelming menu of authentic ramen, soups, sides, cold noodle dishes and other Korean fare is topshelf. You want fresh herbs and bean sprouts in your bowl? Go to a Vietnamese pho restaurant, dingbat. Crazy noodle is a Korean noodle joint, and a great one at that.

i love this place. so much. the food is fresh and delicious, the atmosphere is warm and laid back and the service is also top notch. bonus - i recently discovered that the spicy korean ramen is made with chicken broth and they happily changed my order to vegetable broth. i love a place that accommodates vegetarians! i also love the jap-chae noodle and the tofu salad is amazing. please make sure they're open before you go and also note that if you're a wine drinker, it's byob (with a $3.50 per person corkage). seriously. i HIGHLY recommend this place. let's keep them in business, memphis!

We love, love, love the Crazy Noodle! Granted, my fiancé and I have become a little set in our ways - we tend to order one of about 3 selections every time we go. But, that is simply because we have found dishes that we really like, and we return on a very regular basis to have them. Oh, the service is great, too, and we love Gi, the owner. She will modify anything to your liking when she is cooking. There is one other cook that works instead of Gi from time to time, and he has really got it down. I highly recommend that you give this place a try at least once, and I bet you will be back for more in no time!

I am oodles about noodles so i gave this place a shot. I ordered the Jam-Bong, it had a very tasty spicy hot broth which I liked very much but they could do a few things to improve the dish. Larger Shrimp, More Mussels, Less squid and let the soup sit for 5 minutes covered prior to serving which will allow all that goodness to fuse. The dish is a little dull at first but gets better as you get closer to the half way point. I liked sitting behind the glass divider of the open kitchen bar and the staff was very friendly. I will be back soon to try the other dishes.

Every time I eat here, the food has been splendid. Located next to its sister store, Qwik Check, the Crazy Noodle delivers on every food item. The Chicken Curry will convert you and the Kim Chi is yummy. I am not a big fan of Kim Chi and I can eat theirs everyday if need be. The atmosphere is a chill, comfy and fits right into Midtown. Did I mention that it's a block off of Overton Square? It's directly across the street from the4 Blue Monkey. Many of you have been to the Blue Monkey in your day - probably when you didn't know what you wanted to do with your life and you were probably creepily trying to hit on the waitress. The Crazy Noodle is the polar opposite of the Monkey, mostly because its food is edible and the people who frequent here aren't bottom-feeding blumpkin lovers. Anyway, back to the Crazy Noodle. The beer selection, though not as large as some stores in the area, is very respectable and has some micro brews you probably haven't tried.

Authentic Korean food in a casual setting. The default spice level is low but if you ask them they'll make it really spicy. They have lots of kids figures around the windowsill which means entertainment for smaller kids.

What a cozy little neighborhood restaurant! The place has about 8-10 tables, and when I went at 5:30 on a Thursday it wasn't crowded at all. I wasn't here for a meal, as I was killing time waiting on 6:15 appointment, so I decided to peruse the menu to consider for a future visit. I ordered an appetizer (or side dish as they have it listed) - Se-u-jean. These were little patties of goodness (I'm sure "patties" isn't their actual description, but hey, I'm from the south). The ones I ordered were made up of shrimp, carrots, green onion, and another vegetable or two. They were served with soy sauce for dipping, and they were delicious. I ordered a Tangerine Wheat Beer from Lost Coast Brewery (this is the only beer on draft), and it was soooo good. It paired perfectly with my appetizer. They do have a lot of bottle beers to choose from, and you can bring in your own wine for a corking fee (no wine on the menu). The service was wonderful. My server answered every question I had about the dishes on the menu, and believe me, I had a lot of questions. She was friendly, patient, and more than helpful. This would be a great place for a date night, or a quiet dinner with friends. I'll definitely be back when I have time for dinner. The prices were also very affordable, especially considering everything is made fresh to order.

I am not a huge fan of this place but don't tell my friends -- they'll be devastated. Let's say, I like it for the irony. The food is good. It's pretty well-made and has good flavor. However, I can and do make better dishes at home myself for less money and about twice as fast, and it should be mentioned that I'm a terrible cook. I find that the people I see eating here are looking for a different Asian experience and since this place offers Korean food, a rarity in Memphis, they believe it is great. Clearly none of them ever went to the defunct Korean restaurant at Hacks Cross and Winchester or Asiana Garden on Mount Moriah because these places make a full array of Korean food that is far superior to Crazy Noodle. Of course neither of these places are located in the heart of Memphis hipster country either, so yeah... but hey if every hipster knows about it then isn't it too mainstream to be cool? Or is it so mainstream that it's now ironic for a hipster to love it so that trumps the fact it's mainstream. God, I have no idea. Whatever, the food is good, but not great. Food: 3/5 The restaurant is a converted deck, so technically all the seating is patio seating. I don't know what else to say. There is some very nicely painted brick on the indoor patio seating. It looks a little erotic to me. It really sets the mood for "amore." I'm being sarcastic btw, although I do like the painting. One other thing, for a patio deck, the place is very echo-y. Don't expect to be plotting the assassination of the Queen of Beale in secrecy on this patio. Everything you say on the patio, every other diner hears... which reminds me, George, Dante says you have smelly feet. Just thought that would be easier to hear coming from a stranger on Yelp... Atmosphere: 3/5 The food is expensive. For what you get and the time it takes to get the food, it's outrageous. BTW, if you order a drink you only get a can. Don't expect more. Personally, I think Crazy Noodle is trying to send a message by doing this. They're saying, "Hey, it's about time you prepared for the biological warfare wrought holocaust by learning to ration your sips of soda, people." I for one agree. Thanks Crazy Noodle. You've shown me something I did not know, and I learned something. Value: 2/5 The service is the worst. OK. Let me rephrase that. The table service is normal. Every once in while they will forget something, but it's pretty normal. What is terrible is the amount of time it takes to get mediocre food. I'm pretty sure I could write a novel (or my typical length review on Yelp) in the time it's taken for me to receive my order from here. The reason? There are only two people (max) cooking on one stove for the entire dining facility. It is not a pretty picture. Service: 2/5 Overall Crazy Noodle is decent. It's pretty close to lots of the young hip kids and offers a different Asian style cuisine from what is available in that area. However, if you have a hankering for Korean and want something that isn't served on a porch and doesn't require you to bring an overnight bag so that you are well rested when you receive your food, try our Asiana Garden on Mount Moriah. It's the same stuff only better quality and a little less expensive. But then again what do I know? i do, after all, post on a mainstream consumer review board...

Crazy noodle needs to try and get the kitchen moving a little faster. I appreciate the fact that each dish is made to order but something needs to be done to improve the wait time. Two of us went on a Sunday afternoon at 1pm and sat down to only one other two top in the first room (not sure about the back room). We didn't get our food until 2pm, so much for a quick lunch. At least the server was super friendly/helpful and gave me some free hot tea refills. The entire time we just wanted to get up and go next door for some Bi Bim Bop Beef. The food was ok but that could have been because we just wanted to get outa there.

My boyfriend and I tried to go here last Saturday for lunch, but they apparently don't open until 4, contrary to what the hours on Yelp say. Luckily we decided to go back for dinner the next day! Overall my first experience with Korean food was positive! The waitress here was friendly and was happy to give recommendations. The inside was decorated strangely with children's toys, but I liked that we could see the chef cooking from our table. The portions and spice levels were perfect! I felt just full but definitely not overly full. There were plenty of veggies, which I loved. My boyfriend wanted to come back the next day! I'll definitely be coming back.

Appetizers were great and my chicken curry noodles were too but no more than 5 little pieces of chicken in it.

first of all what a hole in a wall-this place is soooo cool- its a asain store and resturant ran by 2 sisters- the staff is super friendly and menu is simple and with pics too--yay! i had the noodles and its just a wonderful taste and smell- diving in as we speak- thank you for a good meal

Excellent!

i love this place. so much. the food is fresh and delicious, the atmosphere is warm and laid back and the service is also top notch. bonus - i recently discovered that the spicy korean ramen is made with chicken broth and they happily changed my order to vegetable broth. i love a place that accommodates vegetarians! i also love the jap-chae noodle and the tofu salad is amazing. please make sure they're open before you go and also note that if you're a wine drinker, it's byob (with a $3.50 per person corkage). seriously. i HIGHLY recommend this place. let's keep them in business, memphis!

  • Rayna L.

Lol!!!

    (4)

  • Amber C.

  • Gloria L.

Definitely a fusion. I didn't like any of the dishes I've tried. If you're looking for authentic food, don't come here.

Very good and authentic. Service was really fast unlike the other reviews. Must have corrected that problem. Got the curry and it was fantastic.

Thoughts it was great! Not sure what i had now - Bang Jam or something. The two people with me loved their meal - as did I from what I tasted. My only issue is when we walked in we were the only people there and it still took a long time to get our food. Just be prepared to wait - it is worth it.
