I really like the layout, location, service, prices and vibe of the restaurant but I wasn't too impressed with the food.I am an absolute cheese fanatic and I only ate a few bites of that mac n cheese...it just wasn't cheesey or gooey or comforting the way that it is supposed to be. And I usually eat corn 4 times a week (don't judge me, it is my favorite veggie) but that side also went untouched. I don't know what they mixed it with but it just was blaaaah boring. The chef salad? It was ok. I probably wouldn't get it with their bleu cheese dressing again but I enjoyed the salad itself. Their cheese placement on the salad was unique (see my photo). Bottom line: It was alright but I don't get the obsession. Sorry.

First off I am really not a seafood fan...but I gave Soul Fish a try. I think they have the best blacken chicken sandwich I have had in Memphis. It comes on po boy french bread and is seasoned perfectly a little bit on the spicy side and cooked perfectly not all dry. I have been several times now that they have opened this location I also go to the location by my work in Germantown and it is consistently good in both locations.

I have never had a good experience at Soul Fish. Keep this in mind.. I'm not a huge "home cooking" fan. I rarely crave the stuff, and when I do, it has to be my grandmother's fried pork chops and "smashed taters." ( Sling Blade, anyone? Ha! ) Anyway, I've tried several different things here, and I know it is a huge Memphis favorite, but nothing stood out to me except the Strawberry cake. Which of course, you can get the strawberry cake at Frost now. The macaroni and cheese was a disappointment, turnip greens had no flavor, and the catfish was dry. I will just continue to stick with my grandmother's fish. :)

Amanda was a phenomenal waitress. She handled our table with good southern comfort. I asked which beer would be the best and she suggested a great one. The food was definitely more than we could handle. There was so much food on the table we had three to go boxes. The restaurant has a very cool vine to it. The lights were pretty neat. You'll want to arrive early if you are doing lunch or dinner because they will be packed! Overall we had a great experience at this restaurant. I will be coming back. GET THE FRIED PICKLES! Best IN MEMPHIS!

Soul fish is a cool place with good food. Everything was good, but nothing was particularly great. The fried shrimp is probably my favorite and that is what I usually get. There are a couple of blackened selections and tons of fried options--a typical southern seafood joint. I would like to try a po boy at some point, which they have a number of selections. The mac and cheese, greens and cabbage are fine. The sweet potato fries are actually pretty good.

5 stars for original location. 3 for the cafe. We have been going to the original location since opening and have logged well over 50 trips - Soul Fish Midtown is 5 stars for me and is my favorite place to go for a catfish basket! I have been hesitate to try any of their other locations but decided to take the leap after church on Sunday - mostly because Frost bake shop is close by and although Soul Fish carries their cakes...I was in the mood for cake and cookies! Back to Soul Fish Cafe. I was scared to go because I worried it would not live up to the original location....and it may have been totally mental but I felt in a slight way it did not. The same food I always get at the original was just okay on this day of dining. The items that always are standouts to me - the slaw and tarter sauce were missing the kick that I have come to crave. The fries were delicious as always - so was the sweet tea, hush puppies and catfish. New Items Tried: *Fried Pickled Green Tomatoes: These are not available at original location. They were okay but just too sweet for my liking as an appetizer. Note "Pickled". Why not keep it traditional and serve up regular fried green tomatoes? *Fried catfish tacos. These were less than 'meh' - good thing we ordered them as an extra and not as our main meal - they lacked flavor and was just a piece of their fish wrapped in a soft shell with some lettuce and salsa. No special sauces or seasoning. And I am pretty sure the guac was soar as it tasted like stale dish water. Naa-hAss-Tee!! If my husband was not fearful of food being spit on by the kitchen staff (he has watched too many behind the scene shows - regardless of me assuring him that only happens in the movies (LOL) he will never let me send food back) - otherwise I would have sent the entire meal back and requested a refund. Pros: Much more room - for parking and in the dining room - however I have come to love the cramped space at the original. Service was excellent - as it always is!! So - will we go back to the cafe. Doubt it. We will go back to old faithful original Soul Fish - HECK YEAH -- at least once a month after church you will find us there!

UmI love Soul Fish! Coming from California, I haven't been super impressed with Memphis food, but then I found Soul Fish. I haven't been disappointed yet. Yes, it's a little salty but the service is always good and the food is consistently good no matter what you order. The macaroni and Cheese is super good too...way better than many of the other Memphis chains. Legit!

Soul Fish Cafe is a great seafood/southern restaurant off of Poplar Ave near Perkins Rd. I came here with a friend for lunch. We dined towards the end of the lunch rush (1 pm) so the restaurant was still busy, but not too crowded. There is plenty of parking behind the restaurant. Food: Although not cheap, Soul Fish serves very large portions. I ordered the blackened catfish which came with a one side (I chose broccoli), while my friend ordered the shrimp basket with fries. The catfish plate came with two large blackened filets, which was delicious. It was well seasoned, slightly spicy, but too much so. The broccoli was also cooked very well, steamed or blanched, so it still had firmness, and garnished with parmesean cheese. It also came with cornbread and a side of sauce. By the time I finished the broccoli and catfish, I didn't have room for the cornbread. My friend finished maybe half of her basket and seemed to enjoy it. Price: At $36 (including tax and tip) for two meals and two waters, the price is a little steep. That's not to say it's overpriced. Rather, you get a lot of food, but, given that neither my friend nor I finished our meals, I would prefer smaller portions for lesser price. Service: The service was fantastic. Everyone there was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Our waitress was very knowledgeable of the menu and made excellent recommendations. The food came out quickly and waitress was very attentive. Ambiance: It's a nice cafeteria that has booth, tables, and outdoor seating. They fit a lot of tables in the place, so I imagine it gets crowded and loud during the lunch/dinner rush. But, since we were there after the rush, no problem. In sum, Soul Fish is a delicious southern seafood restaurant where you pay a fair price for too large a meal. I recommend splitting dishes/appetizers with friends to avoid a large bill and food waste. 4 stars.

The food here is really good! I first had Soul Fish about 3 years ago, when I stayed downtown. I was amazed at the quality of the food, so when this location opened I had to try...which I was kind of skeptical, because usually the original is always the best. When I find something I like I stick to it, so two piece catfish, mac n cheese & cajun cabbage is my go to meal. The staff is really nice, and the food cause out fast and fresh!

Woo! Soul Fish hits the spot! Let me tell you, I ordered the shrimp basket and it was straight glorious. It is also HUGE. Definitely something that could be split between two people if you ask me. My wife grabbed a shrimp Po' boy and loved it as well. I will definitely be back. Maybe next time I'll try the location on Cooper St. since it's about a block away from our house. Mmm Mmm good!

I love Soul Fish Cafe period but the noise at this location can be very loud at times. I wish there was a way for customers to block out the noise level at the Poplar location.

We had been to the Germantown location and thought it was just OK. I thought we were in for another OK experience as they sat the five of us at a four top. We had come here at my mom's request and were not looking forward to it. We had fried pickles and fried pickled tomatoes up front. Both were Ok but nothing special - the pickles are rolling in cornmeal - I would have preferred a batter. Dyann got the fried shrimp platter with fries. I got a house salad that was huge and looked fresh. Dyann really liked her shrimp but found her fries a little soggy. My salad was good but nothing outrageous. Our server on the other hand was exceptional and the main reason for the fourth star. She was attentive and funny. Her recommendation of the lemon pie was spot on - very tasty. We will come back - I do wish they had a few more non-fried offerings. An Ahi Tuna sandwich would be nice. Note: The interior has a lot of smooth surfaces and is a little noisy.

I got my norm, the catfish basket. Maybe this review is skewed because I have been here multiple times. Everything is always hot and fresh for the most part. I will say that I wasn't blown away by the macncheese last night. The sweet potato fries are pretty solid. The fish is very consistent. I just can't find anything that truly knocks my socks off. Everything is good and I will continue to go due to the consistency.

Like some of the other reviewers, I had a similar experience with trying to make a substitution. A few times I was able to add grilled chicken to the veggie tacos, no onions (delicious, even though they refuse to offer sour cream). Then I hit a wall with the newly implemented "no substitutions" policy about a year and a half ago. We were at the East Memphis location, I ordered the veggie tacos (add chicken, no onions). The server immediately told me she couldn't do it or the owner would yell at her. I told her I felt bad for her, but insisted that I had ordered the tacos in Germantown so she offered to try. She returned with a nasty message from the owner. He wanted me to know that he would do me a "favor" and make them this time; however I would not be allowed to make substitutions going forward. I had the server tell him to come and talk to me directly about this, which he did and I politely shared with him that if every other restaurant in town can make substitutions then he should train his staff to do the same. He said that his staff was not able to handle this - no accountability from him as the owner, completely the staff's fault. We got up and left, it was just too silly for adult behavior. Perhaps I was a bit dramatic, after all there are so many great places to eat in Memphis, but he made the situation personal with his "message." It's too bad, I am sure he does very well. However, there is a market for people who don't want to eat fried food (or onions!) and would appreciate some reasonable flexibility.

I've been here a few times now and have had nothing but good experiences! I went in for lunch today, and by the looks of the parking lot I thought I was going to be in there for the long haul. But to my surprise, even though they were busy, the service was very quick and efficient. It was just me today, so I nodded yes when asked if I'd like to sit at the bar and was promptly asked for my drink order and what I wanted to eat. The food came out quick and it was delicious. I ordered the blackened tilapia, and the bottom was just a little burnt, but still very good. And my mashed potatoes were delightful as well. The very kind and courteous waitress checked on me about 2 or 3 times and was quick with my check. I'll definitely be choosing Soul Fish more for lunch because of the efficiency and convenience of location. Not to mention, the menu is pretty stacked, so I want to try some more items!

Ordered food to go. Got there prior to when they said it would be ready, and it was ready. I live within 3 minutes. Food was cold and soggy, meaning they pulled food that was already cooked and stuck me with it. Captain D's serves better go food at a fraction of the cost. I have to add, they gave me French fries that had to be cooked a long time prior...it was awful. Cold, hard, chewy. I am baffled by what I brought home. Again, Captain D's would have been better

The best blackened catfish I've had in a long time. The fried okra is pretty darn good too, lightly battered and fried with that slight crunch. Lunch is quite busy but they still manage to squeeze you in at one of their tables, booths or even bar area. Like some of the previous reviews had mentioned, it is a bit loud even for a lunch crowd. I can't imagine when the dinner rush comes. Pretty cool atmosphere and the wait staff is quite friendly and responsive to our needs. Can't wait to come back and try something new

Soulfish is my favorite restaurant in Memphis, and I was super excited to eat at the new location. The food was as good here as it is at the other two. The shrimp basket with fried okra and their slightly spicy tartar sauce is my go-to! The fried pickles in their signature cornmeal breading are the best I've ever had-and I eat fried pickles every time I see them on a menu. Another plus to all the Soulfish restaurants-they serve slices of cake from All American Sweets (Frost), so you can end your meal with a slice of strawberry cake. If you're full after dinner, get a slice to go for later-You'll be soooo glad you did!! There's plenty of parking around back, so don't let the small lot out front deter you. We went early (5ish...) on a Tuesday and didn't have a problem getting a table, but by the time we left at 6:15, people were waiting for a table.

This is a place I find myself going every weekend. Do yourself a favor - sit at the counter and ask for Nicci. She's the best. And the catfish is out of this world. The cole slaw rocks. The fries could be a bit better and they are a little too salty. I've had the different veggie sides as well, and all are up to snuff. The hush puppies? Perfectly cooked, even though I am not a fan of spicy hush puppies.

I came to Soul Fish because my 17 year old daughter had been here. We decided to try it as a family after church. The grilled salmon Caesar salad was wonderful, and I am really picky about that entree. It was just perfect!! My son had the Soul Fish Platter and he could not finish it. The catfish platter was equally tasty, and half came home for the next day's lunch. For three lunches, two take out boxes, at $50 for the tab, you can't bet the price and the taste!

We went by tonight and I was really impressed compared to the location in Germantown. We had the catfish and oyster poboy (daily special) They were both really good! The baked sweet potatoes were amazing...or perhaps I should say the cinnamon butter was AH-MAZING! The carrots were pretty good and huspuppies were excellent! The service here is wonderful and I really like the open feel to the restaurant. It is clean and smooth surfaces. Great place to take the kids and get in and out quick. :)

Not as good as Midtown location. The fish was fried hard. The collard greens were salty and mushy. The mac and cheese was okah but clearly not the same recipe as Soul Fish Midtown.

Ok, why have I not been here sooner??? I went to the Soul Fish on Poplar for lunch today and it was great! It's weird thinking that they transformed the old Wolf Camera into a restaurant, but they really brightened up the place and gave it a light, modern-yet-rustic decor. Our waitress and the rest of the staff was very friendly! As for the food, our group started out the meal with hushpuppies. Now I've been living in the South for about three years now and I don't know why, but I'm just now getting around to trying my first hushpuppie...and it was awesome (but then again, I don't have anything to compare it to, so you will have to judge for yourself). The appetizer portion comes with 12 hushpuppies, so plenty for a group to share. I ended up with the mac n' cheese, which had a cheesy kick to it. Noodles cooked perfectly...not a soggy, mushy mess. I also ordered a Southwestern Salad. This HUGE salad (which is really two portions) had blackened chicken and a chipotle ranch, along with a cornbread muffin. We also had some other rave reviews on the Crawfish Po-boy, the Cuban Po-boy, and the fried Okra. All of the sandwiches were served in the plastic red picnic baskets. It almost gave this flavorful, slightly higer-end casual food (if that's such a thing) a real relaxing, home cooking kind of feel. The downside of this restaurant is that when it's full, it can be loud. There also isn't a ton of seating, but the service was really efficient and the crowd turned over pretty quickly. We went for a work group lunch, and we were in/out in 45 min. Lastly, you will leave completely full...I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing, but COME READY TO EAT!!!

For someone who does not typically opt for Southern cooking, and yes I'm from Memphis, Soul Fish Cafe is excellent. I'm always in the mood for their Cuban sandwich. All the side are excellent. Lately, we've been taking advantage of their take-out service. We never have to wait long. Excellent food. Excellent service.

I try not to go to second (or third) locations of local restaurants, I have a thing about additional locations not being as good as the original (case in Point, Gus's on Mendenhall). However, like Huey's, this place has succeed in being consistent! I love Soul Fish Cafe, it is one of my favorite places in Memphis, every time I go I am determined to try something new and then ALWAYS get the Shrimp Po Boy instead, this creates great amusement with my boyfriend. But don't worry, he always falls for the "I'm going to try something new" trick so I have tasted a lot of their menu! I do usually switch up my sides though, see I can diversify my menu, I can't help it, I am a creature of habit! I love the layout of Soul Fish Cafe on Poplar, it doesn't feel as crowded at the one in Midtown. As with both locations, I love the decor, seriously I want to steal one of their giant silver fish! Great atmosphere, great food, great service!

I am thankful there is now an east Memphis location. The midtown location was usually so crowded that I would not go for dinner. The new location is spacious and has double to triple the amount of tables as midtown. The food was great as always! I recommend the fried pickles, fried or blackened catfish and cucumber salad. The hush puppies are fantastic as well. The service was great! I look forward to this being a regular dining option! Keep up the great food and service!

Let me start off on a positive note and say that I have been to the soul fish in germantown and midtown and the food and service was excellent. The issue with this location is not the food, it was our waitress. Initially, I thought she was behaving oddly so I made sure to observe her interactions with her other customers. She was very friendly to her Caucasian and African American customers. I guess she just dislikes Asians. She was struggling to make eye contact with us while taking our order, did not follow-up to see if our food was as expected (I had to chase her down to tell her we were missing something), and wouldn't give us her time to allow us to finish our sentences. I moved here from LA (very diverse) and grew up in Hawaii. By Hawaii standards, this would be the complete opposite of what Aloha Spirit is and i cannot see myself ever coming back to any soul fish again having been treated differently because of my ethnicity. I can pay for catfish someplace else without the racism, thank you very much!

What nice find! Been driving past this place for a while but moved into the neighborhood a few months ago, decided to have dinner last night. Catfish dinner, farm raised, but well done, excellent homemade fries, hush puppies and cole slaw (2 piece dinner is plenty big). Catfish sandwich, too much bread but sweet potato fries are good. Vegetable plate, fried okra best I've had in a restaurant, very nice seasoning on breading. Cajun cabbage would definitely eat that again, Mac n cheese very good for large production. Corn muffin tasted homemade not from a mix. Three of us split a slice of homemade lemon icebox pie, very good. Southern soul food well done. Sign me up again.

The food is good, but a Lil pricey for some fried catfish. Southwestern salad was very tasty, and deserts are yummy too. The staff is very friendly and great service. Been there done that, wouldn't go out of my way to go back, but if friends wanted to meet up for lunch there I'd still go.

I love the poboys and sandwiches. Their dessert selection is tempting. Their service is fast and prices are moderate. The location is centric in the Poplar corridor, but sit away from the front door on cold days, for it is DRAFTY. The sides are all right, but I'm more for the sandwich experience.

I love Soul Fish Cafe period but the noise at this location can be very loud at times. I wish there was a way for customers to block out the noise level at the Poplar location.

I lovvvve this place!!!! I gave visited all locations!! The Forest Hill Irene location is not as friendly as the other ones though. Catfish bites, Mac and cheese and Cajun cabbage are my go to dishes! Never a bad experience!

This was my first time to visit either of the Soul Fish Cafes, and I was very happy. Clean and comfortable layout, friendly server, satisfying food. I had the veggie plate, and it was delicious - baked sweet potato, collard greens, and black eyed peas with a sweet corn muffin. My two year old had black beans and mac-n-cheese, and my husband had the burger. We were all very happy with our entrees, service, beer selection, and ambiance. Thank you Soul Fish Cafe for getting it all right. 4 stars because there is always room for improvement :)

Tia is awesome! Fast friendly service. I had the veggie tacos and they were very filling...2 huge tacos filled w zucchini, black beans and corn...my side of blackeyed peas were perfectly seasoned. Highly recommend this place...

  • Steven L.

    (4)

My friend and I enjoyed a pleasant dinner here. We had the fried pickles and the catfish bites for appetizer. The bites are a great start. I then had the Cuban Po Boy. It was delicious. I give it a strong thumbs up. The patio is great. With the sun shining, drinking a delicious glass of sweet tea makes the perfect day.

Come here for the blackened catfish; it will not disappoint. I sat at the bar during my visit, where they had a nice selection of local brews (would recommend the fireside ninja if you like darker beers). The bartenders and servers were all very helpful and friendly. I ate here on a weeknight and there were a number of regulars for dinner (which is always a good sign). Atmosphere was fun and the place was clean and inviting. For starters, I had the fried pickles and hush puppies which were both so-so. My entree was served with fried ochre (which was simple but tasty) but the blackened catfish easily stole the show. It was tender and tasty and seasoned to perfection. Would highly recommend. If I have a chance to revisit here down the road, I will be sure to give some of their other appetizers a try.

Came here yesterday on my search for some southern style fish, I was impressed with the dinning area and the place was full with people eating enjoying themselves. I ordered to go and got the Shrimp Po Boy Sandwich with Sweet Potato Fries topped with cinnamon. The Sweet Potato fries were the best I've had and would re order them again, the po boy was SLAMMIN huge lol ,, nice sized shrimp and the sauce they give you makes it moist and delicious and not rough when it goes down your stomach. The server was kind and friendly, and the meal came out quick and promptly. I only paid $15 bucks for the huge portions at this place, which is something I'm getting use to at this places I've been to in Memphis thus far. However, I'm sad I didn't find this place earlier, or that we have nothing similar in Phoenix ;/ but that's let you know I will be back to M-town soon for a repeat. 4 STARS

First time here and we were blown away with the attention by Adam the manager and Nikki our waitress, they were awesome! Catfish was melt in your mouth good, smoked carrots and fresh coleslaw were excellent and the smoked wings were to die-for! Local craft beer on tap was a huge plus for us. You really know a restaurant is good when it is packed, but also when the staff all were super friendly and happy, and they were at Soul Fish Cafe on Popular.

Great food but no southern hospitality! I choose not to eat here very often because of the manager/owner. He must have a stick up his *** b/c he will not let you substitute blackened salmon onto the southwest salad but will let you purchase the caesar salad with blackened salmon. Just charge me more and let me get what I want!

Tried this out based on it having a full parking lot at 8pm on a Thursday night. I was not disappointed! Services was prompt and friendly! I went with catfish based on it being their specialty. It came out fast and hot! The fish was perfectly cooked and had a great flavor! The home style French fries and cole slaw were delicious! I wasn't a fan of the hush puppies or tarter sauce but I'm a little particular on those. Definitely worth a try!

I have eaten at this establishment at least 4 times and EVERY TIME something has been off. Either the service, the food or both. I went today with my wife and from the moment we walked in the door, the place was not even packed yet no staff was there to seat us, when the waitress did show up she walked us to the table, threw down the menu that hit the floor and walked off. This is not how to start a meal, much less how you would treat anyone anywhere. I ordered the Cuban Poboy sandwich which was great, but the fries were dry and semi cold like a heat lamp had hit them at one point. No staff to ask if the food was okay, one refill and a check. Honestly at this point and this many tries, I will be taking my business somewhere else where its not a bother to have a customer. I hope people have a better experience than I have because THIS IS BAD.

Decided to take the plunge. Soul Fish is a nice little place on Poplar that specializes on catfish. Not being a catfish fan I went with the blackened trout and chose the carrots and zucchini as my sides. The trout was perfectly seasoned and cooked. Veggies were both cooked through but not mushy and very fresh. The corn bread muffin was ok and a little dry. I also ordered some hush puppies as an appetizer and I would give them a B. Nice and crunchy but a little greasy too. Dinner ended with the Carmel Pecan Pie served with a scoop of Vanilla ice cream. Mmmm Delicious. Give Soul Fish a try.

While the location in East Memphis and decor are wonderful, this place seems to miss the mark on its food. Maybe I'm insane. Each time I visited I expected more than what was delivered and every time I've been disappointed. The food comes to the table hot, which is great but things drop off from there. The catfish is their calling card yet servings are skimpy for the price and the salty flavoring can be overwhelming. I'm wanting to taste the catfish, not the over salted batter. The basket of catfish is the one thing they should do right, yet they missed on each occasion. The hushpuppies have a hint of flavor and crunch but come across as processed aka frozen. Far from the fresh and mealy bite you expect when cooked from scratch. The Po Boy has a nice doughy toasted bun but the fish/shrimp is lost in the mix. I understand the economics of food cost but in this case, I'd like more shrimp than bread, lettuce and tomato in my shrimp po boy. They need to raise their game as there are better choices in Memphis when you are seeking true authentic fried catfish and Po Boys.

Awesome as always. Food, service and the great new digs. So happy to have the new spot for a neighbor here in east Memphis. Catfish to die for. My 3 yr old ate 3 pieces. We'll be back often. You would never know they've only been open for a few weeks.

We stopped into Soul Fish Cafe for a quick bite to eat for a family party of ten. The staff is very professional, answering our questions as this was our 1st time here. Adam (the owner or manger I assume) was very warming and even gave us free appetizers. The food was excellent. Fish was seasoned well and the Mac and cheese was well prepared. Had a great time.

Today was my first time at Soul Fish Cafe and it definitely won't be my last. I bit into a crawfish po boy and felt like I had died and gone to heaven. I think that I might just set up a tent outside and eat lunch and dinner here for the rest of my life. The service is awesome! The po boys tastes just like New Orleans and I have eaten a lot of New Orleans po boys!

Went Saturday night, short wait, happy for the new location to open. Catfish is excellent, fried dill pickles about average to other restaurants. Service was good. 3* because of the layout. Noisy is an understatement, could not hear the wife on the other side of the booth at all. So bad, we were sitting for 5 minutes... she looks at me... isn't that your cousins family behind you in the corner booth? Why yes it was, my Aunt's head was just behind mine, very distinct voice, never heard her for the noise. So, she came and set at our booth, carried on a conversation, but, I couldn't hear her. Any possibility for room dividers of any kind would make it more comfortable & take away the 4 cylinder wall look.

Not a huge fan of Soul Fish. I tried eating here two times because a friend of mine recommended it. The fish is not good at all it's not fresh and was not seasoned. The owner was not very friendly. The food is greasy. It does not live up to the height. The cornbread was dry. Overall just a bad experience. The best part of the entire experience was the macaroni!

I think this place is known for their blackened catfish, tilpilia, and chicken only because the rest is mediocre. I went here three times and for some reason the okra I get is too salty and breaded, I had better. The cabbage is ok, the mac and cheese needs more favor, and the broccoli just was a tree of steamed broccoli on the plate. The sides are too overpriced for them all not to taste up to par.

This new location is just as good if not better than the others. They have a good selection of draught beer including Ghost River and High Cotton. They have more seating than the midtown location and the parking is not perfect but one again, better than midtown location.

Legit!

I was in town and heard this was a great place to get some fried catfish and they were right. This place is amazing and you should add it to your list of places to visit while in Memphis. A must!

The food is always great here. It can get a little crowded in the evenings, but the service is always fast and the food is delicious! Family friendly and this location has a patio.

I lovvvve this place!!!! I gave visited all locations!! The Forest Hill Irene location is not as friendly as the other ones though. Catfish bites, Mac and cheese and Cajun cabbage are my go to dishes! Never a bad experience!

Great family spot. Awesome food. Cool atmosphere. A little hard to hear but that's because this place is always packed. Locally owned - support Memphis!

  • Michelle W.

  • Lupe L.

The food is good, but a Lil pricey for some fried catfish. Southwestern salad was very tasty, and deserts are yummy too. The staff is very friendly and great service. Been there done that, wouldn't go out of my way to go back, but if friends wanted to meet up for lunch there I'd still go.

    (3)
  • Carlos S.

I love the poboys and sandwiches. Their dessert selection is tempting. Their service is fast and prices are moderate. The location is centric in the Poplar corridor, but sit away from the front door on cold days, for it is DRAFTY. The sides are all right, but I'm more for the sandwich experience.

  • Steven L.

The food was okay. The fried pickles were very salty and tasted like fish. I also ordered the catfish fillets. They were okay as well.

Rude customer service! The po'boy sandwich bread was tough and our waitress didn't give us enough napkin for a party of 5. Stay away, if you see a black short hostess because she is rude as hell.I will never come back here again.

The fried pickles and hush puppies are a must order. They are worth 4.5 stars alone. The catfish tacos were good, but I wish I'd ordered a catfish po boy like my sister. Do yourself a favor and go here for the appetizers if nothing else.

Went Friday night, sat at the bar. The service was very good and friendly. I ordered the blacken tilapia with a side of white beans, it was delicious. Dinner partner ordered the Cuban and enjoyed it very much. Love the decor of the new location.

The food is good, as is the service. But WOW is this place L-O-U-D! And parking is confusing... getting in is okay, but getting out is another story.

Terrific Southern home-cooking in a bright setting with friendly service. The hushpuppies and fried pickles were outstanding. The blackened ribeye and blackened catfish were also great. Also very affordable. Highly recommended.

Awesome as always. Food, service and the great new digs. So happy to have the new spot for a neighbor here in east Memphis. Catfish to die for. My 3 yr old ate 3 pieces. We'll be back often. You would never know they've only been open for a few weeks.

Love this place! Great food and service. The grilled chicken taco was really good!! I have a seafood allergy and I liked how the Resturant had a variety of things. The fried pickles and okra was good must try the macaroni next time!!!!

Rude customer service! The po'boy sandwich bread was tough and our waitress didn't give us enough napkin for a party of 5. Stay away, if you see a black short hostess because she is rude as hell.I will never come back here again.

My first visit here was a good one. The food was good and the portions were nice. I ordered the 3pc catfish basket. Looking forward to trying the blackened catfish next time.
