New place looks nice. It's a Chinese buffet, so, as long as you don't get sick, that makes it good. Right? My only complaint is that they don't label the buffet items, so you are guessing at what you are eating, unless it is obvious, like wontons, dumplings, and egg rolls. They also don't have Splenda, only sugar and saccharin (neutrasweet) packets.

I don't usually like to eat at buffets, but the food here was definitely good. It was fresh and there was much variety. Service was also a plus.

They have been closed for over a month for construction so Im not sure what they have been up to. But in the past we went there for lunch about twice a month and the food, selection and service was just fine.

It's a Chinese buffet. Show me a good one in Memphis and I'll be impressed. That said, I've had a lot worse. I'd say it's maybe above average. They do have some fairly unique things (whole baby squids in spicy sauce) as well as some American and Japanese food, including sushi which I did not try (again, show me a buffet with good sushi). Service was average and so was the interior. The food itself was pretty meh and a lot of Chinese places have better food. I only go to Chinese buffets when I'm taken there after all, otherwise I stay away.

We come here more than I like to admit honestly. A glutton for punishment maybe. It is clean. Sometimes the food Is fairly decent. Exceptionally good? Never. My kids love Chinese and there isn't anywhere else close. The best local place is in Germantown, on Exeter. It's always clean and delicious, but it's another 15 minutes away and we already drive 25 minutes to get here. If you aren't looking for anything spectacular and just bottom of the barrel quality, this place is great. If you're looking for something to really enjoy. Pass.

Its a typical asian buffet. Good selection for the price. Most of the choices to me were too salty. I gave the place 2 stars because of the price not the taste.

I'm leaving a star because I have to leave a star. Walking into this place the other day I noticed immediately it was at least 82 in there. I understand, air conditioners don't break in the winter time. The food can still be good. Then I noticed a sign that read, "Please do not waste.." All right now we're off to a bad start. If an all-you-can-eat has had enough problems with people not finishing their plates to make a sign about it then it sounds like your food is rubbish. So i'm taken to my table and trying not to think about how i'm dining inside of a Sauna. I place a drink order, make my way to the spread and WOW. Which of these piles is the food? I hesitantly tried General Tso's chicken. I could find fresher chicken in my local freezer aisle. The vegetable Lo Mein had been sitting there all day or they strive to give their dishes that Aged taste. The "Crab Claws" looked like chicken nuggets so I passed. Their soups were tolerable. This was in the middle of the day. Needless to say, I wasted some food. Sorry guys. I just didn't want to finish anything I tasted and everything else looked like crap. Your pan of Sweet and Sour chicken only had about three reject pieces left. In my last desperate attempt to be satisfied I went to the little ice cream machine that all of these places have and I was horrified. On the left nozzle it said "Vanilla". On the right nozzle it said....."vanilla". I'M OUTTA HERE. (And i'm giving up on Chinese Buffets, prease)

Having had some 'interesting' experiences with Chinese Buffets in Memphis, Red Sun is our family 'go to' place when the urge for Chinese food takes us. It is not a perfect place by any means - there are places selling better Asian food in town but when judged in it's own class (All you can eat, quick in and quick out buffet' it more than holds it's own. Cleanliness is good, no arguements there. The buffet tables themselves are well maintained and almost everything looks appetizing. The food is regularly swapped out and I don't recall anything i've eaten there ever feeling congealed or looking as if it had been standing there all day. The sushi is ok and freshly made - it's not Sekisui (as somebody commented here) but you are NOT at Sekisui - this is an all you can eat buffet - your expectations need to be reasonable. My wife has a theory about this place. Whenever we have been, an abnormally high proportion of the diners appear to be Asian. I know if i found a decent British (yes I am a Brit) restaurant in town I would visit often so we believe the same is true for Red Sun and the Memphis Asian community. Only downsides to this place are the wait staff who are VERY low key. You will never be approached to find out if you want a drink refill so be sure to jump up and flag somebody down if you do. The majority of the wait staff do not appear to speak good English and I think it is maybe the lack of understanding that makes it feel as if they are being slightly 'stand off'ish'. Don't get me wrong, they arent rude - they just bring your drink and then your bill - nothing else. Not always a bad thing. Oh - they have chopsticks and for this my kids love the place dearly!

I downloaded yelp specifically to write a review on red sun. I went in to enjoy the buffet on my dinner break and was promptly seated and received my drink. Anything that could have been considered good ended there. I picked up the first plate only to grab a handful of something sticky all over the plate. Walking to the restroom to wash my hands I was greater by a foul cigarette odor followed by an even more foul odor in the restrook. I then proceeded to get another plate and begin walking through the line. The food was scarce and definitely not fresh looking but I continued anyways because I was really craving it. My very first bite was cold, I skipped that particular portion and proceeded to try the next portion of chicken. What do you know it was cold as well. I left it all there and made a plate of some of the more full, warm looking items and sat back down. Nothing changed the food that was warm was extremely salty and old tasting. I got up left a few dollars for a tip and walked out, something I have never done before. I will give my money to eat well buffet from now on. A little bit ore expensive but always worth the money.

We went for lunch on Thursday. It has all your usual suspects for a Asian Buffet in Tennessee. Limited sushi. The two stand-outs are the Squid Salad. Fantastic, the spicy flavors were perfectly blended and there is no hint of "chewiness". Which for a buffet is truly unusual. Also the Miso & Hot + Sour soups were very good. We usually go to Eat Well down the street, yes it is far more expensive, but very, very good. Sadly, a fire has made them a TKO for now.

Everything about this place was "meh"! The food didn't stand out. The sushi was interesting- I'll be happy if it doesn't make me sick. And the Hibachi portion of the meal was the most interesting. My beef bits were cooked to a crunch. I wouldn't reccommend it to a friend. I will not be coming back myself either.

I am sometimes a fan of buffets, but I get a little iffy when they include sushi. Sitting around and whatnot. I'm happy to report that all of the food was pretty good -- not amazing, but decent Chinese food. I did have some sushi and, while it wasn't Sekisui, it was pretty good for the price, and it's a nice change from my Wendy's staple.

Very busy and located in a shopping center. Came by because I was having work done on my Sister's suv. The place layout was poorly design as the service station is right in the entry of the buffet. The food was dried out and not fresh at all. The sushi there was sitting for awhile and not freshly prepared. It's a buffet, what do you expect. The cost was cheap and it was close to Best Buy.
