One & Only was originally suggested by a co-worker. I can't say "Thank you" enough! Now...when you find them, and you will, what appears to be their parking lot is very small. However, there is a huge parking lot around & somewhat behind them, too.Right up front, there are a couple of "Take Out Only" parking spaces. They will take your order by phone & when you arrive, simply stay in your car. Soon, you will have smoky, tangy goodness that might even make it home to your friends & family. Might... If you are dining in, just pick a table and inhale the aromatic wonders that are One & Only. They have a nicely creative menu with things like quesadillas & whole smoke chicken wings in addition to the standards. On my most recent visit, I ordered the BBQ Bologna sandwich ($3.99) minus the slaw, but that's just me. I also ordered the Pulled Pork Nachos. Thank goodness our wonderful server, Jurnee, suggested a half order ($5.99). The "half" order was still as large as anything I could get down the street. My lunch companion ordered the Sliced Beef Sandwich (no slaw). The food came out quickly. It was fresh, hot, and flavorful. The nachos come loaded with creamy cheese, tons of pulled pork shoulder that is moist & smoky, and plenty of jalapeños on top (optional). The brisket sammie had enough meat for two sandwiches and a side of fries. The brisket was sliced nice & thin, and it was also very flavorful. They offer a "sweet" sauce and a "spicy" sauce. Both are on the sweet side, and the spicy is pretty safe for nearly anyone. I could not detect any amount of heat...maybe a little pop, but no heat. Our server also recommended a side of the potato salad. I am pretty sure she called it "Spicy Potato Salad." Anyway, it sounded great, but I already overdid it! They have some amazing deserts up front in their case. I saw an awesome looking pecan pie and an amazing Red Velvet Cake. I would give their sauce 3 stars, the pulled pork 5 stars, and the creativity of the menu 5 stars. Overall, this place needs to be on your BBQ Bucket List.

Had just arrived to Memphis for the first time and needed to try some bbq! The atmosphere is like a diner and ppl were friendly. I ordered the twice baked potato salad, which I would recommend. The pulled pork sandwich was also good. I only gave this place 3 stars bc my service lacked. I literally had to ask for everything: to get my drink (food came out before my drink), a straw, my coleslaw that I'd ordered, and silverware. My server even started wiping some tables down as she was coming back with my silverware. It wasn't awful, just would've made my experience better, as they were not that busy (was after lunch hour). (I do wish I would've tried the banana cream pudding, but I was stuffed!)

So far, in Memphis, this has been the best brisket I've had. That is not to say places like Central and Jim N Nicks do not make good brisket. But for me, this has the best combo of texture, flavor and moisture. Additionally, I would say they are neck and neck for chicken with Germantown Commissary. They use what I assume is a stewing hen for their leg quarter, which results in a very moist chicken. And the fact that they season again after it comes out of the smoker wakes up the seasonings that get a bit muddled after time in the smoker. Really, really good.

I went their last night for dinner and we order the 4 meat plate. It comes with 3 sides and two pieces of Texas toast. Now I will admit that this restaurant has good service as they did mess up our order the first few times but were able to correct it promptly. As meats we ordered brisket, pulled pork, roasted chicken and dry ribs. For sides we ordered sweet potato fries, baked beans and deviled eggs (5 eggs come as a side). Now the first mistake was double chicken instead of pulled pork, the second was potato salad instead of deviled eggs and french fries instead of sweet potato fries lol. My thinking was it was just busy and the cooks got confused, which was cool, it happens. Lets move on to how the food tasted! I myself did not like their bbq sauce at all, it just didn't taste right with anything. So I ate the meat as served, the chicken had a nice taste to it as did the ribs, however the pull pork and brisket I did not like at all, the brisket tasted burnt and the pull pork was bland. For sides: the baked beans were actually pretty good and the sweet potato fries were great and so were the french fries but that is a biased review as I love fries and I don't think I have ever tried a bad fry before lol. However, the potato salad was bad, they use way too much mayonnaise and thats all you taste, and I've had better deviled eggs. Overall, this restaurant was very welcoming, has good service, and I liked some of the things on their menu and would be back to try some other things.

Made a second visit to check it out again and was super thankful I did! Was with a group and got to sample more items than before to get a better feel for the place. All the sides were great. Can't go wrong. Hot dogs were fantastic. Go for the smoked chicken as well. Maybe avoid the devil eggs, we might have had an off patch. Really recommend the place on second review.

They have a decent burger. It's a bit small, but has two patties. Nothing distinctively noticeable about the meat - just burger. Great sweet tea which rivals McAlister's. Great service (Larry)! Would like to try their ribs sometime.

This has turned into one of my favorite lunch spots (which reminds me, I haven't been there in a few weeks...busy busy. I'll have to change that this week!). It has a really cool diner feel to it with TVs all over the place. You're greeted when you walk in the door and the servers are genuinely nice. It's a warm experience. I go to different BBQ places for different things. With One & Only, you'll get the best pulled pork BBQ sandwich in town! That's a scientific fact. And their green beans have a unique (in a good way) sweet/spicy taste. You have to check it out! It's in the heart of East Memphis.

First try of One and Only may be the one and only... I stopped in for a quick lunch and figured the pulled pork would be the fastest, safest bet for my first visit. I order a regular (without slaw, because slaw is gross) and an order of beans. I always drink water so that was normal. On a side note... There were a whole slew of big wig looking guys with really expensive cars in the store while I was there. Lots of business to discuss, ya know... I think they were having a meeting. Food arrives and there is literally pork overflowing all the way around the sandwich. Too much really... When I pick it up, half of it falls out everywhere, oh well add it to the beans right. I look for some sauce because the pork is fairly moist but really needs some flavor. I am a Hot Sauce kind of guy, so naturally that is what I go for. I pour some on the sandwich and try it... nothing but slight flavor... Add more sauce... Yuck! This has got to be the worst sauce I have ever had. It was shiny, what the? Why is it shiny? I don't know who choose this stuff but it is really bad. I really hope it isn't someone's recipe because it is terrible. I eat as much of the sandwich as I can and dabble a bit in the beans because they were equally unimpressive and seemed to be poured right from a can and microwaved. I am in a hurry and my server is up front counting money so I go to him to seek the check. He looks it up and tells me $9.82... I pay without thinking and then I get to the car a realized beans, sandwich, and water was almost $10! Are you joking? I can get the same thing at Payne's and pay less than $5, and it's REALLY good with homemade sauce spiced to order! I would totally come back and chalk it up to a bad first experience but that sauce will easily ruin any meat that it comes in contact with. So why even bother? I hope the big wigs where working on a new sauce... Call me, I can help...

Incredible food that melts in your mouth. The customer service is non-stop and excellent. The music selection puts you in the perfect "Memphis Hometown" mood.

Best brisket sandwich I've ever had. We've been here twice and I've gotten it both times. My wife said this is her favorite pork sandwich in Memphis.

I was in town for training and since Memphis BBQ is world famous, I had to give it a shot. I was completely satisfied by the chicken dinner and BBQ beans. I will say though, their sauce, even the spicy one, leaves heat to be desired. Memphis BBQ is more of a sweet thing rather than spicy.

It is all about the meat. Ribs yes. Brisket yes. Shoulder yes. Chicken sandwich so so. Sides. Fries yes. Twice baked tater salad ok. Others acceptable. Service efficient and friendly. Food comes out not always together but not long from first to last with five dining. Short drive makes it better.

Rib-licious. I pulled the Valentine's Day card since my husband never wants to eat barbecue. I ordered the dry rub ribs after reading a few reviews that said the sauce was sweet since I'm not a fan of sweet sauce. I'm so glad I did because they were GLORIOUS. My husband who doesn't even like ribs was totally eyeing them the rest of the meal after I gave him a bite. I let him have one more bite since it was our Valentine's dinner haha. Otherwise I would've said back off, buddy. He ordered the Polish kielbasa sausage dinner which was very tasty (but I liked mine better). The twice baked potato salad was very good. The BBQ baked beans were pretty good but a little too sweet for my taste. I prefer the beans from Central and Commissary. Our waitress was very friendly, super cute, and gave us some great recommendations. We will definitely be back.

First, sorry, Kyle, I definitely do not love this place as much as you do! Let's start with the good. The pulled pork is good. The burgers are good. The ribs are good. And, yes, that twiced baked potato salad is good. The portion sizes are great. Staff is friendly. And now the bad. The BBQ sauces are awful... I knew this even before another Yelper discovered that the O&O's BBQ sauce is just dressed up Kraft BBQ sauce when she saw the delivery trucks hauling gallons of that vomit in. O&O made it a whole lot sweeter, so if they pour this on ice cream, I'll probably eat it, but on BBQ???KHAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now, Memphis ribs is known for good dry rubs, so who cares about the sauces. But having a BBQ burger or sandwich with the sauce all over just ruins the flavors. It's just a pity really. They do a lot of right, but that sauce... No. One & Only: Good meats, great portions, friendly staff, awful sauces.

One and Only has become my family's go-to BBQ joint over the past couple of years. Which is saying a lot here in Memphis. The pulled pork and chicken bbq are both excellent choices. When it comes to picking your sides always, always get the twice baked potato salad, I don't normally like potato salad, and I can't get enough of this stuff. The pink lemonade here is great too, not sure if it's a mix or homemade, but it sure is tasty. The Strawberry fields salad could be great - if the dressings actually went with it. I've been to several functions where One and Only has catered and they've always done a great job. So much so that several co-workers have told me they now frequent the place. On a slightly picky note, the chairs at this location are pretty uncomfortable. The back of the chair basically has one high arch that comes up near your shoulders leaving the rest of your spine unsupported.

SIMPLY ENJOYABLE This evening no dry or wet decision to make. In fact no ribs either. Just kept it simple by ordering the following to share: 1 - Smoked sliced beef brisket sandwich with cole slaw on the side. 2 - Smoked pork shoulder for 15 hours (chopped and pulled) dinner with mustard potato salad and BBQ baked beans with Texas toast. Choice of sweet (mild) and spicy BBQ sauces at each table. Spicy was what we used to douse our sandwiches. Barbeque baked beans with pork scraps was off the chart tasty. Mustard potato salad nicely counter balanced the sweet spicy sandwiches. Waitstaff was gentile and mindful. Can't ask for better Southern hospitality.

I first had food from this establishment when they were serving food at a charity event at the Memphis Botanic Gardens. I was so blown away by the food here, I knew I had to give it a try. We came in to a very casual ambiance and were immediately greeted by a friendly server. They were very attentive the whole time and definitely added to the dining experience here. We decided to try their pulled pork, brisket, and deviled eggs. Their pulled pork and deviled eggs were pretty good, but their brisket here...I would argue it might be the best in Memphis. The meat was juicy and marinated/seasoned well. If I could only choose one food to live off of for the rest of my life, their brisket would at least be in consideration. For dessert my lady had chocolate cake and I had carrot; both of which were very rich and delicious. The portions were generous and the prices reasonable. If you have never been, this spot is highly recommended.

Pork rib dinner at the Perkins location. Really terrific!!! So good that we went back the next day for lunch and I had a great pulled pork sandwich. Wait staff is friendly and attentive. Decor is perfect BBQ joint. Two thumbs up and five stars!!!

Kyle, you've created a monster! We ate here yesterday and my husband loved it so much, we had to go back again today to try more items. Yesterday we both got the pulled pork sandwich. He got baked beans for his side and I got the twice baked potato salad. Everything was delicious and the pork was just so tender!Today my husband got the ribs (half wet, half dry) and I got the BBQ nachos and we shared some deviled eggs. Again, top notch The wait staff is superb. Everyone had a smile on their face and drinks were refilled before they were even halfway gone. I also love that both times, our server offered to put our drinks in a to-go cup for us as we were leaving. Football being shown on the television only sweetened the pot. I think I know now where we will be getting our BBQ fix on!

I write this review as I sit in a car stuffed from eating. So it's Fourth of July and I stayed home all day. I'm not what you call a BBQ fan. I always wind up disappointed. In my five years living in Memphis, I've had Corkys, Jim and Nicks, and Central. In five whole years. I know lots of locals rave about Corkys and Central but.....Moving on. I decided today I would try Memphis BBQ for real. We arrived 15 minutes before close and dined in. Did the staff become rude because we were thoughtless? No. They were super friendly and didn't rush us at all. I had a pork shoulder plate with Texas Toast, twice baked potato salad, and fries. Hubs had a brisket sandwich and baked beans. He says his beans tasted fine, not too spicy and with little chunks of meat in them. His sandwich was amazing! It was sliced thin. Melted in my mouth thin. I thought I hated brisket. Ha funny how that works. My pulled pork (I had them chop it) was really tender. It wasn't served with sauce. Honestly, it didn't need sauce. The flavors were there. The sauces they had at the table were good. One more so than the other. So good that I squirted about half the bottle into my to go box. Haha. Wait the potato salad! It was like a cold baked potato and it worked. I could order it by the pint. The fries were fries. They didn't suck but they definitely weren't the star of my plate (thank god) So yes this will be the one and only BBQ place I frequent. At least until I'm feeling adventurous again.

This is by far one of the best bbq spots in Memphis. There is one on poplar and Kirby and poplar and Perkins. Void of the "Bbq tourist" and great service. Their homemade BBq is awesome!!!!

Im not gonna lie, I had a few fingers of bourbon last night and I saw Kyle W check into here. The thought of bbq and a new review made my mouth water. I had been to the location on Kirby (which is another story in itself), so I kinda knew what to expect. I got there around 8PM, and I was wearing shorts and my camo hoodie. It was in the mid 30s outside, nice and warm. I was greeted and told to sit wherever. They have booths and tables, I chose a booth. A young gentlemen by the name of Allen (sp) was my server. He was friendly and attentive, and I guess he didn't care I reeked of bourbon. I had heard the nachos were the shit, so I ordered some, w pork and jalepenos. I also ordered a chicken pasta dish, wanting to see how it fared (since this place is a bbq joint and all). The nachos came out, and I scarfed em. I wont lie, those were some of the best nachos to cross my lips. Not sure if the bourbon was talkin or not. For $8.99, it was a hefty skillet. The pasta then came out, and believe it or not, everything was great except the texture of the chicken. It had that stringy, mushy feeling that makes you want to constantly drink water. Oh well. I was watching the tv (they have 2) to distract me. I tell you what though, those nachos were so good, I went back tonight for more. But I was in a poopy mood, so I didn't get to enjoy them as much as last night. I didn't have enough room to try the ribs, either. The service is spot on, the people are friendly, the atmosphere edgy. This is a solid choice for some bbq and they have a lot to choose from! I also like how they are open everyday, from 10-10. That is hard to find in a bbq place ...

It's everything they say. Ribs are as good as you can find. Better then most. I had the wet ribs and my wife had the dry. We were both supper happy with them. Service was first class. Don't pass it up I think you will love it.

During our visit to Memphis we went to several BBQ places. This is by far my favorite. Lets start with the ribs, mmm the ribs, the dry rub were so so good with that little spice crisp on the outside, fall of the bone once you bite....The wet ribs were also very good. Now the brisket, oh let me tell you about the brisket, thin sliced it just melts in your mouth. I can write poetry about it. They also give you a piece of Texas toast which I prefer to a roll. The mac and cheese and the beans are also worth a mention. Do yourself a favor and don't pass on dessert, because the banana pudding is b-a-n-a-n-a-s. Also we had a great waiter, he was very friendly and nice

Speed of service is something that I noticed wasn't on their priority at our visit. The sandwich and entree were the same food, just rearranged. There was also a price difference of $1. Our server was great. I like the coat hooks by the booth stands. Very handy for winter months. The food was excellent!

So glad we found another great BBQ place that is not wildly overrated in Memphis. The location near Oak Court mall is very convenient, and the restaurant itself has a cozy, diner feel to it. There are a few tables outside on the patio to enjoy during nice weather. Everyone we interacted with on the wait staff was incredibly nice. We sat right next to the counter and overheard some of their conversations with each other and customers--they're a friendly bunch! The menu was surprisingly extensive. Yes, I was expecting all the BBQ staples, but they had so much beyond that. I would love to come back and try some of their burgers and the chicken pasta pie for example. Their desserts looked phenomenal too, but I didn't try them that day. Both my husband and I ordered dry ribs. I got the 1/3 rack of ribs, which is just 4 bones, but surprisingly filling with the sides. He got brisket as well. Baked beans were very well cooked. The sauces were thinner than I'm normally used to--but they had a tang which made me coming back for more. We also tried the brunswick stew, which was ok, nothing to to write home about. But as for what counts...the meat...One & Only is a fantastic choice.

Very generous portion size for a pulled pork. sandwich. It is served without sauce and there are 2 choices on the table. I find the mild to be oily and bland. The spicy is ok. I prefer other sauces here in Memphis better. I ordered the pork chopped but I guess I can't really tell the difference. There were also lots of hunks of fat, which I don't really enjoy biting into. It's a cute little restaurant and the severs are friendly but I probably won't be back as it just wasn't my favorite BBQ in a town with lots of other places to try.

SERIOUSLY - just tried this place yesterday - They have THE BEST RIBS and you have to try the smoked turkey and their beans are sweet and sticky.... DELISH and the potato salad - YUM. I didn't have room for the banana pudding but that it ALWAYS a favorite so I am glad I get to go back to try that soon!!!

One of the best barbecued bologna sandwiches I've had in a long time. They were slammed and the staff was busy. They were courteous and prompt with my food. I'll definitely try them again.

So much to try. Fried pickles, sausage plate, just doing a little today the key lime pie is awesome it's a different flavor -- the hot bbq sauce has a different flavor -- couldn't quite place it. it's a little pricey compared with cozy corner or big bill's - the food was good enough for a bbq excursion, the servers were nice, the slaw was excellent. this wouldn't be my goto place that i anticipate for weeks in advance, but was nice.

My wife and I were in Memphis for a week and this was the best BBQ we had while we were there. We had the ribs, pulled pork, wings and brisket, we also had fried pickels which we have never had before and they were a bit salty for me but still delicious . Also got to taste a sample of banana pudding which was incredible. Food and service was great...

I absolutely love this place. Especially this location. I took a coworker, who's never had Memphis barbecue, here because it's REAL BBQ and isn't touristy. He and my boyfriend started off with their chicken wing appetizer and said the chicken was falling off the bone. They both said they were unbelievable and would order them for their meal. They both loved the BBQ and especially the potato salad. I ordered the baked chicken dinner with fruit. Baked chicken can tend to be dry, but this was cooked to perfection. The service was good. I will definitely always send people to One & Only for Memphis BBQ! :)

Finger-licking goes with chicken .. but in this case it goes with one, That's One & Only BBQ. Not fast food in this joint, a sit down good with a plate full for the $$. Put some sauce on your fingers. It's gonna get there anyway.

After hearing about One & Only BBQ from Kyle W over and over and over again ;) , I knew I couldn't go my first time without him! (Thanks for going with me!) I never thought I would describe a BBQ joint as cute, because that is definitely not what I think of when I hear BBQ, but I love how they transformed the restaurant from Johnny Rockets...well CK's...whatever it was in between? Anyways, they didn't just bank on a great location, they put a lot of thought into this charming little place. You can order to-go or dine-in, but with those cute booths, who would want to leave? I love that they had such an array of different types of BBQ as well as non-BBQ options. One day I will try the bologna BBQ sandwich...but I'm trying to lose weight at the moment - ugh. My only complaint is that they only serve beer. The super sweet waiter told me that for a $2 cork fee I could bring my own wine next time...but I'm lazy and prefer to buy it at the restaurant. I don't know if they are planning on adding wine to the menu but I really hope they do!

Just amazing! I Had my fare share of Beef Brisket sandwiches, but this one blew all of them. Besides the meat, being extremely moist and tasty, small things, like toasted buns, perfect slaw, made all the difference. It was very yummi to say the least. Highly recommended. I shall return and try the Beef Ribs next time. Service was also very good.

Good food, equal to other more popular bbq joints in town. The wait time and service and atmosphere was much better. Fried pickles were the best I've had. Good portions of food

It's hard to know how to review this restaurant fairly. It is clean, has a really nice environment and good wait staff. They are most likely known for the pork ribs and the people I ate dinner with last night were extremely satisfied with theirs. I decided to eat the sliced beef brisket dinner which was probably a poor decision. I grew up eating BBQ beef in Texas and this doesn't compare. If you've never had Texas BBQ then you would probably be okay but otherwise, don't expect it to stand up to The Salt Lick or the County Line, even Rudy's BBQ. I ordered green beans as a side and while they were cooked appropriately, there was some sweetener added and that's a first to me. Also, I ordered the vegetarian baked beans. They were delicious. Also, we ordered deviled eggs as an appetizer. While they were good tasting, they were a little rubbery which meant that they weren't as fresh as they could have been. (Confession, I am still trying to eat conservatively for weight loss and thus I tried everything on the menu that I think are not the standbys). My friends enjoyed the potato salad, and coleslaw and seemed to be extremely satisfied with their meals. Don't eat at this place looking for a "healthy" meal. Go there to pig out on ribs and you'll be happier.

After seeing the duke of this location praise this restaurant soo much, I had to try it. I love saucy bbq.I have a sweet tongue pallet, so it seemed like this would be my new favorite bbq spot. Everyone kept referring to the potato salad, so I was dying to try it. And I can honestly say it didn't stand out too me. Maybe I had a mediocre batch, but it did not live up to the hype for me. I typically share my food with my girlfriend. It allows me to taste more than one dish, this particular night, we had two extra people joining us. More samples for me! Lol. When I first go to any bbq spot I always try their hot link. I'm a sucker for a good hot link. (Smoke sausage sandwich) One and Only has a decent hot link. Nothing to brag about, but it's not a flop. My girlfriend ordered the brisket. No sauce (boooo), and it was lacking some flavor. It wasn't bad either, but it could have been better. Maybe some sauce? someone ordered ribs with sauce at our table. They looked really good, and seemed tender enough, but they tested just ok. Everything was just ok, except for the cost of beer which was extra affordable and not over priced.Maybe my high expectations misled my tongue pallet? I will definitely return and update this review. For now; ONE and Only, you're just okay with me, but you are better than Corkys. Had to throw that in there.

I would rate this BBQ below Central and BBQ Shop - but that doesn't mean it isn't good! Had a 1/2 rack of ribs and they were not bad. The pulled pork is better. The service is really good (hey Ashley!) and everyone is very nice. Nice atmosphere, several TV's make this a good place to grab some good Memphis BBQ.

I worked in the area and wanted something different. Some of the best bbq in Memphis. I actually prefer them than Corky's down the street. The staff is friendly and attentive. I even got my sisters hooked. I started out with just getting the chicken nachos at first then I went and tried the ribs.I love it all now! Their home bbq sauce is on the sweet side but they do offer spicy sauce as well (which I love).

I've been to the original location and reviewed it. I was hoping that the new location had improved the cooking methods of the Barbecue. It didn't, unfortunately. None of the meat that arrived at our table had a smoke ring. The flavor was decent, but barbecue is supposed to be cooked over wood, which leaves a pink smoke ring on the outside of the meat. I'm not sure how they're cooking their shoulder, brisket, and ribs......but this isn't really a true barbecue. There's wood chips involved, but I suspect there is an electric BBQ cooker in that kitchen. The texture is good, but the flavor is wrong. I'm not talking about the rub, either. The rub is good, yet a bit on the salty side. People tell me I nit-pick at the BBQ reviews. They're probably correct. I'd love to bury my head in the sand and pretend this is one of the good places in town.......but I'd be lying. Here's the tough thing about it........they've got everything else right! The new BBQ bean recipe is outstanding! 5 Stars for the beans! Slightly sweet, oniony, with great flavor. The side items are all good. They have deviled eggs, which is a big plus for me. ( One &Only, Tom's and the Commisary are the three places in Memphis that make them) This place has a fitting name for me...... One & Only has 1 and only 1 problem. Cook your barbecue the way it's supposed to be done, and I'll be happy to sing your praises. As it stands, I could make this stuff in an electric oven with a metal smoke box full of wood chips. If I'm wrong about the cooking methods, I'd appreciate a correction. How else can you barbecue without a smoke ring? Blues City Cafe has the same problem. Even in Memphis, people don't always know the difference. Fix this one thing, and instantly become a Top 5 place in town. It's that simple.

Being from Memphis ppl assume that I'm a BBQ fan and would ask me for recommendations. I've eaten at a few bbq spots in Memphis and nothing really was worth recommending in my opinion until one day my manager ordered us lunch from One and Only! The food was absolutely delicious and keep in mind I didn't even eat my lunch until 2 days later because I had forgotten about it! Since then I've made it a point to tell everyone about their BBQ and visit frequently! The bbq chicken sandwich, nachos, fried pickles, cheesecake and sausage and cheese plate are worth a try! Two thumbs up! Yum!

So good! Had the 1/3 rack of ribs half dry/half wet, next time I'd order all dry rub. It was the right amount of salty & spice. They were out of turnip greens which was a bummer but the baked beans & slaw were both good. We table shared the banana pudding and oh my lands was that special. Great, friendly staff. Modest but decent beer selection, easy atmosphere.

Oh dear! That spicy bbq sauce is so darn good! I want to drink it all! The brisket was good, the ribs are good (not my favorite, but I do not complain) and the beans delish! I tried the twice baked potato salad and I liked it but I didn't finish it because it was too creamy for my liking, but it was good maybe in a small portion. The place is so cool, I loved it! My husband loved this place for everything, the ambiance, the food, the service, my 9 yo and 4 yo loved it too, so we are good to go and will be coming here again.

Great Memphis BBQ. I prefer the Germantown location (which is 5 stars). This brand came out of nowhere for me. I was all about Central BBQ, and the Commissary, but I have to say, this place beats them all. The beans, slaw, pulled pork, sauce, and bread pudding are all first class. I would highly recommend you add this to your list of best BBQ joints in Memphis. You know, we DO have the best BBQ in the country after all.

Wow. First, the sauce is unreal. The hot version is peppery and sweet. One of the best BBQ sauces I've had. Next, the dry ribs are just right. Tender but not soggy. The twide baked potato salad, while rich, is a slice of heaven. Cole slaw is good, but not going to knock your socks off. Chicken drummies and wings are also awesome! As a native Memphian, I've had a fair share of BBQ in my time, and the One and Only is legit. Don't miss it.

I've driven by this place many, many times. But for some reason haven't eaten here til recently. I guess it is because there are already several BBQ joints that I like to frequent (The BBQ Shop, The East Memphis Corky's, and Central BBQ). Well no I have another to add to the list. The staff has always been prompt and friendly and I haven't tried anything I didn't enjoy. Smoked meats and vegetables are some of my favorite foods in the world to begin with. I have had the BBQ quesadilla, brisket platter, chicken wings, and the Brunswick stew. The stew had a sweetness to it that I liked and have not had in other Brunswick stews. The brisket was smokey and tender. The BBQ quesadilla....well BBQ and lots of cheese, how can that not be good? Lastly the chicken wings, you order these as single whole wings. I had the sweet and spicy sauce with it, which was very good. I will be returning here in the near future for sure.

I waited over a week to write this review so that I could find more positive. I had ribs which were pretty terrible. There was no smoke flavor at all. I ordered them dry and was given wet. Wet was super sweep. The twice baked potato salad was good but honestly Kroger has a loaded baked potato salad that was better. However one friend said it was the best potato salad she has ever had. One friend had the turkey and said it was dry. Another had the BBQ nachos. This was the winner. It tasted good and it was a huge portion. I had a smoked chicken leg and honestly I feel that the restaurant doesn't know the difference between smoked and grilled. I was disappointed because it had a grilled taste and not a smoked taste. If it said grilled chicken I would taste this restaurant higher. I feel like its false advertising. The fried chicken is good. Banana pudding is good. The food is overall good but BBQ it is NOT. The menu is deceiving to me.

The Pulled Pork Nachos were delicious. They are very generous with the meat portion, and the sweet Memphis style bbq sauce made it unlike any other nachos I have eaten. And the banana pudding was SO yummy!! It has a banana "foam" on top that I just loved. Everything here was great and I'm very glad we stopped by here on our road trip for an authentic BBQ experience. Awesome food and the waitress was very sweet. We would definitely be back, if only we didn't live all the way out in California!

A relative newcomer to the crowded BBQ field in Memphis. I found it on a whim and when I checked on Yelp I found that the general consensus was the food was pretty good. So we gave it a try one night. I'd say what stood out was the ribs. They were fall off the bone good! And the BBQ sauce was outstanding! If you have to get a side order the double baked potato salad! it was seriously good! On the down side, I'm not sure what people are thinking when they talk about the beef brisket. It was pretty bad. I'm used to brisket smoked in Kansas City and Texas and so it was a shock to me to see thinly cut strips of beef. The smokiness was not even apparent. The biggest problem with it was they kept too much of the fat cap on. So there were large portions of the meat that were fatty. I'm sorry but that's not smoked brisket. I'd go back again for sure but I just wouldn't order the beef brisket. Other than that, we loved the service and everything else about the place! Can't wait to head back when we're in Memphis again.

Great pulled pork. They did a great job catering a few events I attended.

The server Willie was helpful with the menu and took great care of me. I got a couple smoked chicken legs to start off. They were phenomenal! So smoky and delicious. Then I got a pork sandwich and beans as well as the bologna chunks. The sandwich was good. The beans were tasty. But I felt the bologna was undercooked. I like mine extra well done. Their sauces were very good. The mild has a good tanginess to it. The hot wasn't that hot but had a sweetness to it. It was actually sweeter than the sweet tea! Overall good experience. I'll be back for more smoked chicken legs for sure!

Memphis isn't really known for their brisket BBQ, but this place has the BEST brisket I have ever tasted. It is seriously incredible. The twice baked potato salad is perfect. You must try it! The staff is incredibly warm and helpful.

Took some out of town family, see I needed a choice that wasn't big chain and wasn't one off hood Q So I went to O&O. Party of 10, no worries. Split checks, done. Kids loud and acting fun, not noticed. FOOD, awesome. The adults as couples each shared Ribs +3 meats a pile of sides. This makes a great way to get everyone trying everything. Wet and Dry, brisket, pulled pork, sausage, turkey, chicken. And they didn't bat an eye use of a coupon from the City Guide. Could be the next best BBQ in Memphis

I was heading North after NOLA jazz Fest & wanted to try a few BBQ joints in Memphis during my 3 night stay. I decided to try One&Only BBQ. I tried the chopped, pulled pork which was very good, The smoked turkey was phenomenal. Highly recommended. Juicy with salt, pepper & a smoky flavor Pulled chicken was not a standout. I thought it was just ok. I would not order it again. Smoked kielbasa sausage sandwich was good. Typical grilled kielbasa flavor. Solidly good. The loaded baked potato salad was good: very rich & creamy. The yellow mustard potato salad was good but slightly sweet. The deviled eggs were slightly sweet with relish in it. The service was very courteous & gracious. The inside was clean & casually appointed. Challenging parking was the only real con.

This place is frikken delicious! The pulled posk nachos are awesome.A good balance of cheese and pork and jalepenos. with just the right amount of heat. The sweet tea was spot on. I got the pulled chicken sammich with twice baked potato salad.... who the heck thinks of twice baked potato salad and why the hell havent I??? It is AMAZING. The chicken was tender but not seasoned. The ribs were pretty darn good as well. They have a good flavor and smokiness to them. Not overly fatty.. and good tender meat. the pulled pork was also tender and flavorful. The sides were all pretty awesome. The baked beans were super flavorful, and ive never tried brunswick stew before, but theirs looked pretty good. If i wasnt so stuffed then I would have gotten the banana pudding... I regret not getting it, another table had it and it took all i had to not ask them for a bite... Next time!!

The place looked like a diner. It has a hip ambiance serving quality product. We enjoyed the food we ordered. The ribs were good but the brisket were awesome. It had a great smoke flavor, very tender, and juicy. It was so good that I had to get two pounds to go. The sides and sauces were also decent. The place serves beer but no draft beer; only bottles. They have great desserts, from red velvet to pecan pie. Very alluring!!! The service were friendly with a good family atmosphere. The prices were also easy on a wallet. I will definitely come back just for the brisket because it is as good or better than a Texas brisket and try the other items. Come and give it a try, you will like it.

I stopped in for lunch recently based on Kyle W.'s review and recommendation. I normally don't stray too far from the other 5 or more BBQ establishments around town that I hold in high esteem (BBQ Shop, Central BBQ, Corky's, etc..), but the stars were in alignment on this day and it just worked out. I honestly think that when you're trying a new place for BBQ, that the best place to start is the pulled pork sandwhich. Ribs are harder to do really well, and I don't want to get a poor impression of somewhere new without at least knowing if they can make a good (or great) sandwich. But this time, since the stars were aligned, I went for broke and ordered a half-slab of dry ribs. The results were very good. The meat wasn't so tender that you could seperate the bone from the meat just by lifting it from the plate, but the it did remove cleanly from the bone with a little force. In addition, the ribs were very meaty - no anorexic pigs here - and I actually had a little trouble eating it all with the sides. The flavor was nicely smoked with no real need for BBQ sauce (which on a side note, their "hot" sauce is very tame, and it would be nice to have some heat as an option). All-in-all, I am giving this place 4 out of 5 stars for the ribs alone. The restaurant itself is very clean, with great service and deserves 5 out of 5, but the measure of a great BBQ joint is not the ambiance -- this is one of the only times I'll ever say this. While it's not always true that if you can make really good ribs that it begets that really good pok shoulder will follow, but I bet it does here. These are not the best ribs in memphis, but they are darn good and One & Only BBQ is worth a repeat visit.

This was by far the best all around BBQ I have ever had. Traveling with family on our move from NJ to TX. Ribs are outstanding with just enough smoke and fall off the bone, melt in your mouth!! The Banana Pudding is absolutely outstanding. Service is great to make the experience amazing.

Surprisingly, I really love the Malibu Veggie burger here. My boyfriend really loves the brisket here as well as the ribs. They have some great sides: the potato salad, baked beans and sweet potato fries are favorites here. Make sure to ask for some sauce to go.. it's delicious on everything.

Everything was so sweet...sauce, cole slaw, even the green beans. Service was great, but the food was so-so. Ribs were tough. No reason to ever try again.

I recently moved to Midtown from East Memphis, and one of the things i was most upset about during the move was how far I'd have to travel to go to my favorite BBQ store. Well, i shouldn't have worried. Apparently, One and Only is stalking me, because the followed me out of East Memphis. The new location is on the corner of Southern and Perkins, and is much bigger than the original location on Kirby. The new location is still just as clean, the food is still just as good, and the staff is still just as friendly. I ordered the rack of ribs with twice baked potato salad and BBQ baked beans. The twice baked potato salad is probably one of the best side items I've ever had. (It's a close tie with the Cajun cabbage from Soul Fish). The beans used to be just beans mixed with BBQ sauce, but they have since improved the recipe slightly. Now, the beans are heartier with bits of smoked meat floating in them. The ribs are, hands down, the best in town. I would recommend you get the dry rub with spicy sauce. Eating those ribs yesterday reminded me of when i was a kid and my mom's buxom friend would hug me, and I'd end up lost in warm cleavage, perfume, and a little bit of drool. I like to attack my ribs from the middle, so they wrap around my face and i get the full enjoyment of the savory sauce and the delicious smell. I didn't realize how much i missed motorboating on those pig parts (human parts are pretty awesome, too) until yesterday. If you're a motorboating son of a gun (and if you're not, you're doing it wrong), go check out One and Only and enjoy yourself.

Food is always top-notch. I could eat the jumbo pulled pork sandwich with slaw every day. "Spicy" BBQ sauce is a great compliment to the juicy meat. Fries are pretty fantastic too. Plus, I've never been to a restaurant that had a nicer staff. Always greet you and wish you well upon leaving. I'm happy to support this establishment

Everything I had here was GREAT! I ordered the 1/3 rack of ribs, half wet and half dry, both of them were delicious. I also had the baked beans and twice baked potato salad which were as good if not better than any other BBQ place. My coworker had the 1/2 chicken and it was cooked perfectly, just the right amount so it wasn't too dry. Will definitely be coming back!

Ok Kyle W, I made it to One & Only BBQ today as I said I would. Its funny because i have memories going here as a child when it was International House Of Pancakes before they became better know as IHOP. It has been so many things since but I have fond memories of this building so it's great to see the transformation it's taken as One & Only BBQ. Let me start by saying the wife and I were blown away! I had just what Kyle W recommended, dry ribs with the hot sauce, twice baked potato salad and I also order the BBQ beans. A maz ing!!! Some of the best ribs I've ever had. They were definitely competition quality, cooked and seasoned to perfection. The twice baked potato salad was very good but the wife didn't like it as much because she has a taste for more of a mustard style and the twice baked uses a lot of sour cream and mayo. I really liked the BBQ beans they, complimented the ribs with their savory flavors. My wife ordered the pulled chicken with mustard potato salad and the BBQ beans. She loved it all. Fantastic is the word she used over and over. I tried the chicken and it was even better than Centrals pulled chicken which I thought was the best in town. I almost forgot, we ordered the BBQ quesadilla for an appetizer and were impressed with them as well. The service was outstanding. I didn't catch our waitresses name but if I were opening a restaurant she would be my first hire. All this being said we can't wait to go back. Oh and thanks a million Kyle W for pointing me in the right direction for some awesome food! I'll be back........soon!

My new favorite BBQ place in Memphis. One & Only has become my go to place. Was skeptical at first as there are so many BBQ places here. I love Central and Cozy Corner, so I was not so sure about going away from the tried and true. After one visit I was impressed. The ribs were very good and the sides were great, especially the twice baked potato salad. After several visits each item I have tried have tried has been delicious. The ribs are very consistent. The smoked chicken is what I go back for now. It is by far the best chicken I have had at any BBQ place. Another thing that stands out is the great service. I have also used One & Only for catering.

Hands down the best BBQ restaurant out of them all. And that's hard to do in Memphis - a city known for it's BBQ. The twice baked potato salad is beyond heavenly and the smoked turkey sandwich is one of a kind. Oh and never have I ever seen such a massive beef rib. Clean and homey atmosphere, friendly staff, delicious food, wonderful southern charm, and like Henco Furniture... "It's worth the drive!"

In my opinion this is the best BBQ in Memphis. Not only that, it has the best service of any restaurant we had gone to in TN. I first feel that I have to talk about the friendly hospitality and great attitude that we get every time we visit. Everyone there is incredibly friendly and nice and for this they've gain my highest compliments. As for the BBQ, they not only manage to have great beef and pork cuts with their amazing sauce, but they actually have pretty good chicken and turkey dinners. I usually do not put poultry and BBQ together, but here they managed to pull it off. Their chicken drumsticks are amazing and do yourself a favor and try them one of these days. They have great appetizers (love the devil eggs), and pretty good desserts. We have tried several assortments of their pies, and they have all turned out pretty well. So all in all they are not a one trick pony, everything has been good for us, from the service to the food it is always incredibly nice to go here.

Amazing customer service and even better food!!! My first time in the entire staff including the manager took the time to get to know my first name. Now for the food. The twice baked potato salad is OUT OF THIS WORLD. Give this spot a chance and I promise myself you will not regret it.

Can I just start off by pointing out how confusing it is that One & Only BBQ has two locations? Especially for a group of rookie out-of-towners trying to navigate the streets of Memphis. But seriously jumping right into it. We were here visiting from NC for a wedding and the bride and groom who you'll see in a framed picture on the wall presenting Prince with the restaurant's first dollar, were kind enough to invite all of us to experience some Memphis BBQ on this evening. I've never been to the original location so my experience is unique to the S Perkins Rd location and our food options were determined by the catered spread requested for the group which included Brisket, Pulled Pork, Dry Rub Ribs, Wet Ribs, Baked Beans, Potato Salad and Coleslaw. Having only quickly experienced Memphis BBQ in a quick trip to another Memphis BBQ establishment for a pulled pork sandwich, I was anxious for another go around. The stars of the show were the Brisket, the Dry Rub Ribs and the Twice Baked Potato Salad. The Brisket was awesomely smoky and tender. The meat was sliced super thin and was on my plate with every return trip to the bar. The Dry Rub on the ribs had a great spice element while the meat was super tender and gave me an idea of what Memphis BBQ is all about. And finally the Twice Baked Potato Salad. There is obviously some secret ingredient in there that makes this the best mayo-based Potato Salad I have ever eaten. It's almost as if there is a heavy cream mixed in there at some time during the process. Anyway get some of this and enjoy Potato Salad at its finest. I'm a huge fan of some good old fashioned smoky pulled pork but the pulled pork on this night was fairly unexceptional. It didn't have that roasted on a pig cooker type flavor that I'm used to. The bottled sauces on the table were a great complement to the pulled pork while the dry rub ribs were perfectly fine without it (as I'm told this is how it should be). The waiter despite being tasked with taking care of around 30 individuals was very attentive and the atmosphere was clean and well-kept without being too upscale to forget that BBQ was the reason you came. The rest of the wait staff was also friendly and welcoming. I thank One & Only for the opportunity to experience Memphis BBQ and hope big things for them now and in the future.

In my recent BBQ tour of Memphis, this place took home first place. *other places visited included cozy corner, rendezvous etc. One and Only was probably the cleanest environment and definitely had the best quality meat that all fell right off the bone. This seemed to be one of the newer BBQ places in a town of fantastic competition so it may not be as well known as others but in my opinion they are a must visit!

I am officially addicted to One & Only BBQ!!! I have lived in Memphis for nearly 20 years now and have tried several BBQ restaurants in the city; but, One & Only BBQ stands out among the rest for sure due to excellence in service and quality food that you can taste. My favorite food is the Chicken Quesadillas when I want something light and of course, their famous ribs when I want real BBQ. Congrats on the new location and keep up the good work!!!

I really have loved what they have done with this old johnny rocket's/CK's...it looks like a completely different place..who ever did the renovations great job!! The service was great and we were greeted as soon as we came in the door. The food however I will just say was ok. I did not hate it but if just did not blow me away. I had the BBQ nachos which was extremely too big kinda wasting food...the chips were stale. I hate when you order nachos somewhere and the chips are stale it ruins the whole thing. In all their pulled pork was good but could have used a spicier sauce...love it hot!! The ribs were a little tough but seasoned nicely and the mac and cheese was again just ok not anything to be excited about. I would give this place another shot in the future but did not do much for me on my first time there.

Really excited to have another quality BBQ option in East Memphis. I went to One and Only for the first time yesterday and left very impressed -- and that was before I tried my takeout order. I was greeted immediately as I walked in and both of the employees I talked to were friendly and thorough. I noticed the beverage station was meticulously organized (these are things that grab my attention, as a server) and when I peeked into the semi-open kitchen I saw it looked very neat and clean. The decor is simple and I like that they keep the pig-themed tchotchkes to a minimum. It creeps me out to be surrounded by cute piggies when I'm eating pork. (I can't be the only one who feels this way.) The parking situation isn't ideal -- especially with the holiday rush at the mall next door -- but I had no trouble getting in and out. As for the food: wonderful. I got regular pork shoulder sandwich combos for myself and my husband. They come with slaw on the sandwich (aka the right way), a choice of side, and a drink. I got mustard potato salad for one and green beans for the other. I liked that vegetarian baked beans were an option because there are several non-pork entrees on the menu. In fact, One and Only's menu is more extensive than what you'll find at a lot of other BBQ joints in town. The sandwiches were piled high with pork, the sauce was tangy and both sides were excellent. The green beans had a little sweetness to them which made them unique. We also got an order of banana pudding to share, since there's no better way to finish a BBQ meal. The huge portion was loaded with real bananas and vanilla wafers and it had a meringue topping. I may have found a new favorite! Our total was little more than $22 before tip. Worth every penny. I'll definitely be back.

This is my new favorite BBQ joint in Memphis! I love their ribs and pulled pork, but the real star of the show for me is their sausage. While the items served with the sausage & cheese plate are nothing special, the sausage itself is the best I have tasted in Memphis. I find myself stopping in and purchasing the sausage by the pound far too often. I also have to say, I have used them to cater two separate events, and got rave reviews from my guests at both parties!

  • Amanda C.

Just order a pint of potato salad and thank me later. But seriously, that potato salad is where it's at. The BBQ is pretty great as well. I ordered a pulled BBQ sandwich with slaw (the correct way to eat a BBQ sandwich) and a side of the delicious previously mentioned potato salad. The bbq on the sandwich was tender and juicy, but wasn't chock full of flavor. And it was on a heavily buttered bun. I am like any southern girl and love butter, but it was overwhelming on the sandwich. I felt like it took away from the BBQ and awesome slaw. The slaw ranks up there with the potato salad...very good. The two people eating with me ordered better. One ordered the pulled smoked chicken meal with beans and fries. The other ordered ribs. I tried the chicken, which was awesome and the ribs looked pretty great too. In conclusion, I will definitely be back to this place, but won't be ordering a sandwich again. That overly buttered bun cost this joint a star. But, I feel like ordering something else and experiencing that delicious potato salad and slaw will grant them another star.

One & Only BBQ impressed me with their ribs and BBQ sandwich. Their fries are also pretty good, but the potato salad is where its at!! The wait staff is excellent and always seem to have a smile on their face, which is a delight compared to some other restaurants here in town.

The staff at One&Only BBQ are certainly top notch! The service is unlike anything I've ever experienced in a Memphis restaurant. I have visited both locations numerous times and the food is always made to perfection and tastes delicious! Not only are the ribs and BBQ the best I've ever tasted, but so are the other smoked items (chicken, turkey...). Not to forget to mention, the sausage & cheese plate and fried pickles puts the competition to shame. The most amazing gourmet mac&cheese and twice baked potato salad I've ever tasted! Even when I think I can not put one more bite in my mouth, I can never pass up a serving of Millie's house-made banana pudding. My friends and family LOVE it!! Thank you One&Only BBQ for such a fantastic restaurant!!!!!!!

I love the sliced smoked turkey sandwich. It is served with cole slaw and your choice of sauce. The Quarter chicken is also great. Millie's banana pudding is to die for... as good as home made!!! I just visited the new location at Perkins last night. It is just like an old fashion diner and the staff is really friendly.

I took out of town family to dinner there since we had eaten at the Kirby Parkway store and it was good... The meal was horrible! The tea was flat like it had been made 3 days before! We ordered 3 whole orders of ribs, planning to take the leftovers home! We ended up talking almost all of them home to the dog! The dry ribs were covered with so much rub you could blow and it would fly across the table! Some one must have taken the top off the shaker and just dropped the whole container on them. I was embarrassed and we paid the bill, left and went and waited in line at Corky's!! Never again! I would rate it as zero if I could! I should have known when only 1 other table had 2 people at 7PM on a Thursday night! When we got to Corky's, of course it was packed and now I see why!

Everything was great. I'm a stickler for customer service & Jessica, our server, was fantastic. She knew the menu, gave awesome recommendations, and was very attentive. The food was delicious. Pork ribs are some of the best we've had.....with dry rub! Yummy! Pulled pork good as well. Sauce is a little too sweet for our tastes. And the spicy version wasn't very spicy at all. Twice baked potato salad was excellent! Mustard potato salad was ok. Cole slaw was not very good at all. Key lime pie was just ok...perhaps made of all canned ingredients?

I'm gonna be odd man out on these reviews. Talking about the Perkins Ext location. We tried the pulled pork and the brisket. The pulled pork didn't have a flavorful bark at all. I think it was smoked in an electric smoker - i didn't have a rich smoke taste but instead an off taste. The sauce wouldn't even kill the taste. We didn't finish our pulled pork. The brisket, was thinly shaved beef, pulled out of the fridge an thrown on the grill. (I watched it being cooked) So to call it brisket in the BBQ sense isn't really correct. It was more like a philly cheese steak. The beef was very gristly and tasted of burnt grill drippings. On the positive side the sweet potato fries and baked beans were good. The help there was very friendly and accommodating. In my opinion, if you like good Q - this isn't the place to go.

Just had lunch here with my beau and his grandmother. I had the turkey breast dinner with vegetarian baked beans and fries. The turkey was great! It was tender, seasoned well and served sliced. The baked beans were really good. I was so fill from the turkey, I didn't have room to eat my fries. My beau had the beef brisket and his grandmother had the ribs. She really enjoyed her meal. The staff was very attentive, everyone that walked past our table checked on us. I will definitely be back!

My favorite place for ribs if I'm on the east side of town. The ribs are amazing! They're never dry and the sauce is just right! I like my ribs dry with the sauce on the side for dipping. The banana pudding for dessert -YUM! The service is always supreme, but with Prince at the helm I expect nothing else! Kudos to the Perkins team - you guys Rock!

Had an opportunity to dine at One and Only BBQ while traveling for business and thoroughly enjoyed it! I drove past a very busy Corky's BBQ to reach this little gem. I've dined at Corky's in Nashville but have not reviewed it. During this same trip I had lunch at the Memphis airport location and it was just O.K. Back to One and Only. The delicious ribs were tender and flavorful. The twice baked potato salad was also quite good. The staff was friendly and polite. The small restaurant feel was a nice change of pace. Great location for family or small group gatherings. I don't know what it's like on the weekend but it was nice to walk in and be seated immediately on a Tuesday evening. I didn't give it 5 stars because the BBQ sauce labeled as spicy was actually sweet which meant that there was not a spicy option. I would highly recommend One and Only.

Wow!!! Great staff. Friendly and gracious. Food. Fantastic. Beef ribs, sensational, dry or wet. Pork ribs, ditto. Brisket not so much. But, overall... Wow!!!
