    I can't believe that I haven't reviewed Little Italy yet. It's just around the corner from the house, and one of our favorite places for comfort food. We visit often. I must admit, I haven't had the pizza here, but the strobolis and calzones are wonderful- so good, we have not gotten past those menu items. We usually mix and match a chicken or sausage stromboli and spinach and cheese calzone, with a side or 2 of garlic knots (chewy garlic bread drenched in garlic sauce). Good for eat in or take out.

    Little Italy is definitely the best pizza place in Memphis! Very affordable, nice urban atmosphere, and the food is genuinely Italian. I love it. The owner is great! The staff is good, and the food is freakin' sweet! Can you ask for more? If you can, LIVE WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE OF THIS PLACE! Ja ja ja. Most recommended. ;)

    MEMPHIS PIZZA KITCHEN has the atmosphere and is really really good pizza. LITTLE ITALY is no $5 takeout but you get what you pay for. Thick cheese, great crust and sauce..this is some of my favorite pizza in TN. The guys working there are really nice. I had a carryout order and were very accommodating with some last minute changes. They also shot the shit with me while I was waiting and they were working, even though it was a Friday night. Go there and you will not be disappointed. Next time I go I want a calzone, they were big and overstuffed...looks great!

    Dear Little Italy: I am truly saddened by the fact that I discovered you days before leaving Memphis. The last time I had pizza this good was in NYC. And your stromboli ain't bad either. I saw that you also offered cannoli's for dessert and was amazed to find it as delicious as Mike's Pastry in Boston! Best pizza and cannoli in Memphis hands down!

    Memphis pizza lovers tend to agree - Little Italy makes some of the best pies in town. I had been hearing about this place for weeks, and finally had an opportunity to try it a couple of nights ago. I was invited over to a friend's house, so on the way I picked up a couple of pizzas. I ordered ahead and they were ready when I got there about 20 minutes later. We didn't get anything fancy - just a plain cheese pizza and a sausage. But I was very pleased with both. The crust was perfect, the sauce a great blend of zesty Italian flavors and the toppings were fresh and plentiful. I will be paying this place a visit again very soon. A new favorite for sure.

    Buonissimo!! I'm a pizza snob and this is the best pizza in Memphis! The crust is a nice thickness, the sauce is thin and delicious, and they have sfogliatelle (cool little pastry found in Naples)! Also, it appears they recently renovated nicely. Nothing fancy, just darn-good pizza.

    One of the perks of being in the hospitality program at the University of Memphis is having a chef as a teacher. From her, we heard of several restaurants that she recommended. In one particular class, we decided to have a pizza day. At her recommendation we decided on Little Italy Pizza. The overall response from the class was that it was great pizza. For me, I was not a fan of the sauce. It was alright pizza - but I've had better. I wouldn't be opposed to trying Little Italy Pizza again if it was suggested while out with friends.

    Definitely not what I expected, but a nice little surprise! Coming from NYC, I imagined Little Italy to be a fancy-shmancy, little romantic, Italian restaurant with high prices, but good Italian food. Well the good food part was right, but it is much more casual than I thought. The NYC style pizza was delicious, however I typically order pizza for take-out, so dining in was a new experience for me. You walk in, order at the register (no table service), sit and wait for your pizza, then (if you're me) go back for dessert! We got a groupon, experienced Little Italy, and enjoyed ourselves. I will likely order it to go next time, but enjoyed our date night experience.

    I'm a huge fan of Little Italys. If it's your first time try the Sausage Stromboli. I've tried other things on the menu but keep coming back to the Stromboli for its green peppers and tasty sausage. My only hesitation in giving 5 stars is that during lunch no one seems to understand that timely service is necessary during lunch hours. I went on a lunch break and waited much longer than usual for the two staff to serve the entire place.

    Terrible location. Lackluster pizza. Great staff. It's edible, but not the best. Definitely on par with New York Style pizza...they have the potential to create great pizzas, but it's just not all there. Kind of disappointing. I had high hopes.

    Wait was long. Staff was very friendly and the manager (I assume he was the manager or proprietor?) spoke in a thick lower Brooklyn accent. Nice. That encouraged me to be a bit adventurous ... I ordered a chicken parm and it was bad. Like truckstop kinda' bad. WHAT was I thinking? My companions ordered pizza and raved about it, mocking my sad sandwich. I failed for not ordering a pie at a pizza joint. The staff was very friendly and helpful ... Hope to try the pie in 2013.

    If you are in the area you should try it, but if pizza is what you are looking for, then there is competition out there for this place. Yes, it's good, but not outstanding. There are other places my family and I enjoy more, but the location is good, the service was very good, and looked clean.

    We decided to forgo the usual chain pizza places and order from here. I wasn't sure if they deliver so we picked it up. It only took 15 minutes. I believe the owner gave us our order and was very nice. I loved how they packaged everything but the cannoli in one box instead of individual boxes. It cuts down on useless waste. Our food was great! My husband had the meatball stromboli and garlic knots. I had a slice of the veggie stuffed pizza. Also, we decided to splurge and order a cannoli for dessert. Of course this was my favorite part. Overall, we have found a new pizza place.

    My family and I were looking for a good pizza place in Memphis. After reading the reviews for Little Italy, we decided to try it. We ordered a large pizza and split it between five adults. It was huge! The pizza tasted amazing. You could tell that the ingredients were fresh and crust was perfect. We live over an hour away, but we have been tempted to make the drive just to go to Little Italy again.

    This is absolutely the best pizza I have ever had in my entire life. That's a lot of pizza. Quaint and charming with great service to top it off. Completely authentic. Absolutely delicious. A large pie will cost you more here than it will at a chain store but if you are looking for quality over quantity this is unbeatable. Go now you won't be disappointed

    Great pizza for the price point. I ordered 7 plain cheese pizzas and they were literally ready in 10 minutes. This was super convenient for feeding a large group of 6th grade boys and also affordable. The manager in the phone was friendly and the man packing the pizzas up startled to really hustle when he saw I was there to pick them up- I think they knew I was a teacher and had a 20 minute window to get the pizzas. Will definitely be ordering again!

    The pizza here is really good, though overpriced in my opinion. New management came in and raised everything so I may be biased because I was used to the old ones. I fancy myself a pizza conneusuer and this is one of my favorites in memphis.

    I ordered a chicken parm sandwich. What I received was diced up chicken, tomato sauce, and some mozzarella on a baguette. Everything was fine except for the chicken. I expected some breaded chicken but instead got fatty, terrible cuts of diced up chicken. I had to pick out all these crap pieces for proceeding to eat the sandwich. It was a major disappointment. The wait around lunch was bad. Even though my coworkers ordered a plain slice, it still took forever for them to get it. People who came in after us got served their food first. The pizza did look good and this is probably the way to go if you are considering going.

    I've had their calzone and told them to add pepperoni. Let me just say that Little Caesars has a better calzone than this place. Yes, I'll admit my shame just so I can explain to you all how bland and tiny that damn calzone was! I asked for a Tiramisu and they whipped out a store bought box and cut me a dry bland slice of grossness. I've had their tiramisu before when it came in little Bowles but this... This whole meal was an abomination of dry tiny blandness.

    I've only ever been here for lunch, but the stuffed meat pizza is so good that's all I've ordered. I went in at about 11:30 and the place was kind of empty, but by noon there was literally standing room only. I noticed that a guy offered to have three big burly construction workers sit with him because there were no seats and it was cool to watch them meet. Also cool? The construction workers all ordered salads. Ha! Those salads looked amazing! There were lots of call in orders and people ordered pizzas as well. The next opportunity I have, I MUST order a pizza from there. One looked so good that I wanted to ask the lady if I could have a slice. But, that would've been weird. The only negative I noticed was that although I was there alone at first, all of the tables were dirty and nobody cleaned them at all. The rotation of people at dirty tables was kinda skeevy. Okay, it was a lot skeevy. So, just get them to clean your table and enjoy your delicious pizza.

    I love this place. I tried it today and it's now my absolute favorite in all of Memphis. My husband and I have to go to Memphis quite A bit to the vA and I've tried different restaurants and this is the best. The owner is real professional and friendly. Keep up the good work.

    I have lived in Memphis for several years now and have always searched for the best slice. I would have to say this is my favorite so far, but it was a rocky road coming to this decision. I initially wanted to give this place 1 star. The reason was due to one bad experience I had. I had gotten off work late and I went about 30-45 minutes before they closed. When I walked in I was greeted, indifferently, by 2 guys. I told them I wanted a large pepperoni to go and I was told the kitchen was closed. I just shrugged it off and said "alright cool, well thanks anyway" and just planned to come the next day. However, I was then asked "why not just take something from the display, it's practically a whole pizza." I looked in the glass and saw old, cold slices from the day. It did not look pleasant. When I declined, I was given a look like I was a big asshole. Sorry, I just didn't want the crappy leftovers. I recently returned after waiting more than a year. I decided to give another fair shot and maybe I just went on a bad night. I went in the afternoon and was greeted by what appeared to be a lot of nice people. A family perhaps. This time, I called ahead and ordered a large pepperoni to go. When I arrived it was ready and I was out the door. It was a little more expensive than other pizza joints, but well worth it. I am a New York style fan and this place is exactly that. No fancy build your owns or speciality pizzas, just a good slice. I got home and bit in right away and you could tell it was just right. This is exactly what you want in a good and local pizza place. The cheese was fantastic and the bread was spot on and I couldn't have been happier. I ate off it for a few days and it kept well. It was really some of the best cold pizza one can get. This is now my "go to" when I really want good pizza in Midtown. It blows the Memphis Pizza Cafe out of the water and is a great no frills experience. My advice: make sure to call ahead if you want to be in and out. Also, I wouldn't go right before they are closing. If you have a lot of time to kill, then sitting down wouldn't be a bad option. It had a really great atmosphere.

    Friendly service and the reviews don't lie about the pie. It's pretty good. Especially for the prices, very reasonable. I enjoyed mine pretty fast, and had some extra for the morning. They have seating in store, atmosphere is nice, not over the top at all. I would definitely stop in to have a bite.

    I haven't been in here for some time.... I stopped in for a quick slice of pizza about a month back and I am seriously glad that I did! I haven't had a slice of pizza that good in a very long time! The crust was light and buttery and awesome and good and crunchy and everything else that causes bad grammar and run on's... Sauce was perfect, slightly sweet, wholly great! Cheese was in all the right places! It just exploded in my mouth at every bite! Stoked to find pizza this good! My most recent visit I tried the stuffed crust pizza... It is full of sausage, pepperoni, and cheese. Sauce is on the side. AWESOME! Nothing else can be said for this places pizza! Get here now! Why 4 stars? 1. It is a bit hard to breath in there because of the poor ventilation. 2. The glass, walls, and ceilings look dirty because of the poor ventilation and grease accumulation. 3. The paper plates and plastic silverware suck! 4. The pizza is GREAT! Boom... 4 stars!

    The pizza was good. I really like the thin crispy crust and the toppings seemed fresh and good quality. The place itself, was a bit dirty for my liking. The tables were filled with crumbs and the floor was pretty dirty. But the service was friendly and welcoming and the pizza made up for the slight uncleanliness. I think that I need to go back and try another dish and update the review.

    First off: Don't go here if you're on a diet (true of any Italian restaurant)! Now that we have that out of the way, this place is NOTHING like I expected. For some reason I always thought this place was a fancier sit-down joint. I mean, the food is good, but fine dining with wait service it is not...at all. When I suggested this place for lunch, I thought it was the perfect place for a business meeting...but it is more of a college hang out or run-n-go type place than somewhere to take a client. Oopsies. Fortunately, the pizza was yummy and made up for my lil faux pas. This place is just a good old fashioned pizza place and there's nothing wrong with that. I wish it was a little cleaner (the floors were pretty sticky...) but the medium pizza was ginormous and delicious.

    Was looking for a place to eat before getting back on the road driving to Dallas. This place closed at 9 o'clock and we showed up at 830. Even though they were starting to close down they still made our food fresh for us. The lady behind the counter was very nice and the cook he brought our food out to us at the table hot and fresh out of the oven it was very good I like this place a lot

    Great pizza, calzones, garlic knots and other. 4 star food and very reasonably priced. Definitely order food to go as the atmosphere is 1 star. Paper plates, fluorescent lighting, poor ventilation and big sports TV make for a no-go restaurant dine-in experience for me. But will definitely return for the food again soon!

    Stopped in for lunch last week, been wanting to come here for some time & since I was around the corner, it's a deal! Alas, the overall experience left a lot to be desired. It's good that you can get slices here, thank you. I wish you could get a 'short' version of the sandwich. Prices were good on the 12" versions, but, who wants a 12" sandwich at lunch? I asked what was better, the sandwiches or pizza & salad. "How hungry are you" - not too much, "pizza and salad", sounds like a plan. Let me get a small salad with blue cheese, a slice of sausage & pepperoni pizza, and water. Everything was OK, but then not so much. Getting ice, after I stopped pushing the ice button, it continued to pour out (onto the floor). The waitress said, we're having that fixed. OK, no big deal. The water button was with the lemonade button. Best to push it first & let it run (from experience or you'll get water & whatever color the lemonade is). Despite this, the entire cup was pink colored. I poured it out, tried again, surely the 2nd time it's flushed out. I was wrong, so pink water it is. Sat down, salad came promptly. High Point & Memphis Pizza Café have much better blue cheese. Then came the pizza slice... but as I looked at it, I didn't see much sausage & pepperoni.... in fact none. I started to get the waitress... but then re-created the total tab & realized she didn't charge me for them. Don't know how she could not have heard either add on. The cheese pizza slice was good, I wish it had a little something extra on it, however, as I washed it down with my pink water.

    The food is actually not bad but this is the dirtiest place I've eaten in awhile. I mean everything is dirty! The drain in the coke machine has not been drained in forever and there are dead bugs floating around. The air is so smoky you can't even breath from not having a vent a hood. It's a complete mess in there. So sad

    Wow. I'm never eating fast food pizza in Memphis ever again. Little Italy is incredible. I have been angsting over the lack of good delivery pizza here, but tonight for some reason I found Little Italy. Literally every single thing my boyfriend and I ordered surpassed my expectations. The calzones are incredibly cheesy and filling- I was a little worried about how large their calzones would be for $5, and they don't look huge, but I can't eat the whole thing. I put meatballs in mine and I'm pretty sure they're homemade. Tons of ricotta. The crust is the perfect amount of crispness and chewyness. The garlic knots are similarly large and huge for the price, and they had a little bit of cheese too. Delicious. My boyfriend had the alfredo, and he described it as "if your grandma was italian and made an italian macaroni and cheese." I tried it and I agree- it's the ultimate comfort food. There's so much of it. The noodles, by the way, are cooked perfectly. Al dente, but also a little soft. My favorite thing, though, is actually the salad??? I'm so used to salads being a little extra, flavorless or overly sauced item that I really wasn't expecting it to be so delicious. I normally hate italian dressing, nowhere has ever convinced me that it's any good- overly sweet and sour. Little Italy has made me a believer in italian dressing. It's herbs, olive oil and a little balsamic vinegar (I think). WOW. Little Italy is local, it's super fresh, and it's a great deal. I'm sold. Delivery time was really fast as well.

    The instant I walked into this place, it felt like I'd been magically transported back to one of the many pizza joints I used to frequent in NYC. It looked right, it smelled right, so I had high hopes. Then I heard a couple of the guys working speaking Italian to one another. Okay, that's good. Turns out they're actually from Long Island, so there's your New York connection, too. At this point I'm thinking, 'my god, have I finally found the holy grail? A place in Tennessee where I can get a slice that doesn't suck?' The answer is yes. Now, if you're looking for some fancy pants organic foofaroo, this isn't your place. No, this is simple comfort food made with quality ingredients. Give 'em a shot, you won't be sorry! Here's a tip: if you're eating in, you can BYOB. There's even a liquor store next door that you can pop into while you're waiting for your order.

    Since I'm originally from N.Y., New York style pizza is my favorite and little Italy reminds me of my childhood eating pizza before hopping on the bus and train home. This is one of my comfort food places...they know how to make the pizza right.

    This place is pretty great! Pizza is one of my favorite foods so I love trying any new (to me) pizza place. I've been here several times now and have never had anything bad. I've had the Stromboli, the calzone, meat stuffed pizza, regular pepperoni pizza, etc. Make sure you get an order of garlic knots. They are great. If you decide to eat here, there is not a ton of seating. You'll also end up smelling like a pizzeria. :) I usually call in what I want and then go pick it up and bring it back to work. However, if you go in and order, it doesn't take long at all. My favorite thing about this place is the people who own and run it. They are the nicest people. Also, I have yet to try the cannoli because I've only eaten here at lunch. I hear they are phenomenal though.

    Some of the best pizza I've had in Memphis. It's got a thick layer of cheese, and they are generous with meat. I also love bread more than the average human being, so I will scarf down some garlic knots. The people who work here work hard. They are always so friendly, and the one time they got our order wrong and we said it was fine, they wouldn't take no for an answer and corrected it as quickly as possible. The building it's in is kind of old, the space is small, and you can smell the smoke from the tobacco shop next door (definitely a sweet cigar smell), but it's clean. Since trying Little Italy, we haven't looked back!

    This is the best pizza in Memphis! I am from Chicago (yes within the city limits for all the suburban haters out there. Grew up in the Humboldt Park neighborhood way before it was safe and "Austin", Chicago's Harlem) then lived in New York for many years. This of course qualifies me an undisputed expert on the subject of pizza. My palate is so far ahead of yours; juuuuust kidding! Despite my pizza pedigree I will not pass judgement on any version of pizza. NY, Chicago, it's apples and oranges. . .and pizza. I have enjoyed a pie in many places including Atlanta, Harrisburg, California, and dare I say I enjoyed a pizza in NY even more than one in Rome? That's the diff. NY has a unique style, same of Chicago. So you cannot compare them, only pizzas that claim to be of the same genre. Basic pizza gospel. In my opinion Little Italy captures everything you are looking for in a NY pizza. They say it's the water in NY, however I am convinced if you transported a Little Italy pie to a NY pizzeria and served it, no one would notice it was from Elvis' hometown. This is a great little place. So full of smoke and garlic when we walked in we almost choked. Seating and decor are minimal, mark of an authentic pizzeria. The garlic knots and pizza were a winner. I will be back.

    Unfortunately, my husband and I found Little Italy Pizza to be a disappointment. I tried a ham, pepperoni, and cheese stromboli, while my husband tried a piece of meat pizza. We also ordered a side of garlic knots. The food itself was only lukewarm, and tasted like it had been made a day or two earlier. The garlic knots were literally hard...chewy and hard. Nothing like most of the garlic knots I have enjoyed elsewhere, which are typically soft, doughy, and delicious. The stromboli and pizza were just okay on flavor. Overpriced and lacking anything special. Also expect to get paper plates and plastic cutlery. Which is fine, except the food was hard and not easy to eat. Wish I could offer a better review, but it really was sub-standard at best.

    Even though Mike is gone, Little Italy is still good NY style pizza. Granted I would have given it 5 stars back when Mike ran it because it was the best pizza I'd had outside NYC itself. Now it's just the best pizza in Memphis. ;-)

    I used to come here all the time and it was incredible. Truly awesome. The last two times I've been have been really pretty terrible. I can only hope that the original owners sold. The pizza was overcooked and mediocre. Not enough sauce. The staff had no pride in the joint or the food. I'm not going back.

    The other evening must have been an off night because we received a pizza, Italian sandwich, and garlic knots tonight from the owner it was all so wonderful. The owner is a honest, stand up guy. The cheese pizza was fresh and delicious like I remembered it. Do yourself a favor and order the Italian sandwich. The garlic knots are still smaller but have always been extremely flavorful. Thanks for winning me back. Loving the amazing customer service.

    Very disappointed today. I called in an order of a caesar salad, Spinach Roll and a Cannoli for pick up. First of all... How can you run out of shredded cheese at a pizza joint? Second... My Caesar salad had regular lettuce instead of romaine because they ran out. Lastly.... I called in my order and was advised it would be ready in 15 minutes and still had to wait. Also... I work nights which is why I ordered to pick up and noticed I didn't have any napkins nor utensils. Glad I checked.... Little Italy was not on their game tonight. :-(

    We're recent New York transplants and were worried we wouldn't be able to find good pizza in BBQ heaven. Luckily, we were wrong. Little Italy nails it in every way, and the owners are super nice. It's the only pizza I order in Memphis!

    I admit, half the reason I eat here is because I love going to the cigar shop next door. The other half the reason is the incredibly good food!!! We've had the stuffed pizza, the supreme pizza, Stromboli, and oh my gosh, the cannoli! They are all fantastic! If you want a good meal from a little hole-in-the-wall pizza place, this is definitely the place to go!

    This used to be a go-to once a week restaurant for me as a working Mom, but after the change in ownership, it has gone downhill, even after I tried three different visits to make sure my complaints were not isolated to a bad day. The cheese pizza slices are now terribly greasy and require lots of blotting to be edible and the calzones (cheese or meatball) are now covered in a heavy layer of butter product that makes the meal terribly heavy, especially considering very little ricotta was used in the calzone, so the filling turned into one dense cheeseball. The sauce is also now more oily and is blander. The new owners seem to be decreasing the quality of the ingredients and it got worse each time I came back recently. I even got food poisoning after one mushroom slice. Not sure if I am coming back to try again. One more cheap, family-friendly place is gone in Midtown.

    I'm a Chicago gal, so trust me when I say I know pizza. Little Italy is THE SHIT! I wandered in here one night with the husband and after a good look at the menu and pizza case, we decided upon the Calzone (ricotta and mozzarella cheese) and the Chicken Stromboli Calzone (chicken, mushrooms, mozzarella cheese and sauce) and of course a cannoli to go. We had to wait for them to heat up everything, so we took a seat in one of their booths and watched as the magic happened. It was a good 10 minutes before everything was ready, and we couldn't get it home fast enough. Once we were able to start dining on these amazingly homemade creations, I about had a heart attack. FINALLY! Good pizza! In Memphis! I cannot even begin to describe to you the amazingness that resides in Little Italy's pizza creations. The ricotta and mozzarella was warm and gooey and light all at the same time. It was unbelievably delicious dipped into the marinara sauce. The only thing better than the interior, was the crispy, fresh, crust. Oh so freaking delicious. The Chicken Stromboli was just as stellar. Huge, juicy chunks of fresh chicken, mushrooms and mozzarella cheese. Mmmmmm. My mouth is seriously watering. We were so disappointed that we didn't order a third calzone to split, that had they still been open, I am positive we would have made the 15 minute drive back to their store front. Hey wait a minute! What about that cannoli? Oh. My. Cannoli. Heavens. This is a gift, from the Italian Gods. My husband hates cannoli, but I made him try it. He looked up at me after his first bite and said, "Is THIS what cannoli is supposed to taste like?!" Yes dear, yes it is. So delicious, creamy and crunchy all at once. There's even a hint of orange in the cream filling. It was sweet, but then just when you thought it was going to be too sweet, it toned itself back down into the cheesy goodness. Oh lordy was it amazing. Just to give you an idea of how great this place is, I have been back every day since this order. Three days in a row of Little Italy pizza slices for lunch. And if the description of delicious foods doesn't get you through these doors, perhaps the price will. A slice of stuffed pizza or a calzone and a soda will only cost you 6 bucks and some change. Seriously amazing, and easy on the wallet. Please go here. Frequently. Make sure to let the guys behind the counter know what a good job they are doing. They'll warm up to you at that point. They absolutely love me now. When I walk through the doors, I am greeted with "HEeeeaya! Hoooooo! How you doing!" I heart that little piece of data.

    The first time I went here, I had only been living in Memphis for about 6 months. I grew up and went to college in the Northeast and I was complaining to a friend of mine that I couldn't find a good NY-style pizza here for the life of me. She took me to Memphis Pizza Cafe, and you're welcome to read my MPC review if you care to see how that turned out. It wasn't at all what I was looking for. She then suggested Little Italy. We went, but I wasn't getting my hopes up. When we walked in, I heard the owner calling out an order in a thick Brooklyn accent, and I let my hopes rise a little bit. I saw the big, foldable slices coming out of the oven, and I let them get up a little further. We ordered and I waited like a kid on Christmas Eve. When our order came out and I took my first bite, the heavens opened up and supermodel angels descended from the heavens on beams of light and lifted me skywards to a place of such beauty that to utter a single word that was spoken to me there would shatter the eardrums of any Earth-bound mortal. Jimi Hendrix was playing a harp, and Kurt Vonnegut said that he liked my poetry website. My grandfather was there, and he told me funny stories about my parents. There were puppies everywhere and they climbed all over me when I sat down. When I had finished my pizza, everyone gathered around and waved to me as the supermodel angels delicately returned me to my seat by the window, across from my friend. I waved back. Later that night, I asked my friend if she wanted to go on a proper date. She did. We kissed in her driveway afterwards, and we've been together for almost two years. Let's see any other pizza joint in Memphis do all that. Also, every time I go in there, the owner says, "Hello, my friend! Large plain?" and I love it. My girlfriend and I went the other day and I wasn't that hungry, so we just ordered a medium, but they brought us a large anyway. And, of course, I still ate most of it. Awesome place.

    I took the lead by some respected reviewers and tried this out on a day when I was jonesin' for pizza. Problem: because Little Italy is miles from where I work or live, it's gonna cost me in gas money. Need to find reasons to be in the neighborhood. (Hmmmm, I do occasionally have to visit the MERI on Cleveland for work.) Back to the review... This is New York pizza by the slice where you can fold it like a man!! The inside of Little Italy reminds me of pizza places you find in NYC. The booths reminded me of Ray's on Prince St. (which sadly closed forever on Oct. 30.) I had a slice with Italian sausage It was just so right-on. Crust perfect. Cheese: correct amount and texture. Sausage: as I remember it. Little Italy competes head-to-head with my other favorite outside-of-NY pizza place, Vinny Van Go-Gos in Savannah. Now looking for reasons to go back to try other offerings.

    My coworkers and I enjoyed lunch at Little Italy this week. I have only eaten there once before, as I always forget that it is there. I had two delicious slices of pizza. Being from New York, this is about as close as it gets to NYC pizza in Memphis. The prices are reasonable and the food comes out very quickly. I am glad Little Italy is back on my radar.

    I'm from NY. Pizza elsewhere usually tastes nothing like the real thing (the crust is all wrong, the cheese doesn't melt right--it's just not the same). But the pizza at Little Italy (in Memphis, of all places) somehow tastes exactly like NY pizza. And not like that awful glop at fake "original" pizzerias in Manhattan. This tastes like the pizza I bought by the slice at genuine neighborhood pizzerias, where locals eat. It's perfect pizza. And everyone I've recommended it to has thanked me. On top of that, the staff is great. One night, I ordered a pizza 20 minutes before close (I didn't realize it at the time). When I picked it up, the owner had closed out the credit card machine. I had no cash on me, so he said to bring the money by the next day! (Instead, I found a nearby ATM and tipped heavily for his kindness). The food is great, the prices are low, and the staff is friendly--Little Italy blows the competition out of the water.

    Tried Little Italy last night for the first time. The food was excellent. As a NY native, I really know good pizza and the places that have "actual pizza" are far and few between anywhere in the South. Walking in, the place reminded me of the local pizzerias growing up in LI/Queens. I ordered a slice of meatballs and a calzone. Both were cooked and had excellent flavor. My only complaint about the meal was that they used precooked meatballs and you could definitely taste that. However, they did not screw you on the amount they gave you. That was my only gripe and the only reason why I did not give them 5 stars. The staff was very friendly and I am going to be a frequent customer over there now. They have a carryout special on Mondays and Tuesdays, $10 for a LG Cheese Pizza or $12 LG 1 Topping

    Tried it again, except this time I got pepperoni. I still think the cheese and sauce need help, BUT the pepperoni was awesome! Definitely more than made up for the taste deficiency in the rest of the ingredients. Crust was still great. I will definitely come back when I get a craving for decent NY style pizza, although I still think it's a bit steep that it's around 17.50 tax included for a large one topping.

    Little Italy is the bomb-diggity- my second favorite pizza place in Memphis behind Garibaldi's. Some friends encouraged us to try the place a few months ago, and I can't believe that we have been missing out for so long. Probably the closest we might have here in Memphis to true NYC style pizza, Little Italy's pies consist of a delicious crispy crust, an excellent red sauce and fresh toppings of your choice. The crust totally makes this pizza. I like Garibaldi's sauce a tiny bit more so this is the only reason they still top my list over Little Italy. The place is really small, so we usually call in and order and my husband will pick up for us. Not sure if they have delivery, but it is definitely worth the drive.

    The pizza here is really really good. They do a great job! It's delicious! The atmosphere is nice and the service is fine. The only reason i give this 4 instead of 5 is the price. The pizza is a little on the expensive side. However, if you're willing to spend a tad more than normal, definitely do it here.
