The burger was decent, but nothing to write home about or rush back for. I don't know about you, but I typically want fries to accompany my burger. I was not impressed with the fact that you had to pay extra for a side of mediocre, undercooked fries and only had an option of 3 flavors of chips. The taste of the food, however, was not our biggest complaint. The service was despicable and the prices for the kids menu were outrageous! A 4 oz kid's burger and chips cost only 1 DOLLAR LESS than my 8 oz burger and chips. How do they figure that? Oh yeah, by throwing in a soft drink. To add to that, the only chip flavors available were black pepper, hot ass spicy, and voodoo (cajun spiced). Absolutely nothing to suit a 2 year old's pallet. So, basically, I paid $6.95 for a 4oz burger. Lovely. When I asked the server if my husband's soft drink could count for the kid's drink instead of paying additional (our child drank water due to no options other than soda being available), she very rudely told me she had already rung up the order and that it could not be changed. She also told me that a soft drink was not included in the price of the kid's meal. All that took was showing her the direct statement on the menu to resolve that argument. After trying to reason with her about the lack of appropriate chip options for a young child and the price disparity, she hesitantly said she would speak with her supervisor (with an eye roll to top it off). She returned and said the bill could not be adjusted as it "would look bad on the restaurant if she were to void a soft drink." She offered us nothing, other than her condescending tone and more eye rolls. Are you kidding me? I worked in the service industry for many years. Voiding or altering a check (especially for one drink) is simple and in no way would "make the restaurant look bad." She ended the interaction by telling us to "ask for her if we came back." Yeah, right, on what planet? Not a good way to run a restaurant. Especially a new one. I would have potentially been able to overlook the outrageous price of the kid's menu if there had been some customer service decency and etiquette. That one soft drink and snotty attitude cost LBOE our return visit and a bad review.

I'm indecisive about this place. I have been here twice and both times my burger was cooked to perfection. I do not think it's good business practice to offer fries as an appetizer for $5, regardless of the portion size. Make the larger size an option rather than a necessity. I also felt pressured to order alcohol each time I was there for lunch. If I order a soda, I'd prefer to not be judged and mocked for that. The drinks were a bit pricey, and the one time I did order an alcoholic beverage, I had the Bloody Mary. It was the best Bloody Mary I have ever had... But when I looked at the bill, I realized I had actually ordered a Sunday Bloody Sunday. My partner is full-blooded Irish, and he was INCREDIBLY offended. Food = good. Drinks = good but poorly named. Bartenders = kind of douchey.

Glad we stopped in for a cocktail while waiting for a call from another restaurant. The cocktails were great and friendly staff. We ended up parking here for the evening and having an awesome time without the loud noise and crowds (although they weren't far).

Great service and more food than we could eat. Carry outs for everyone. Our first visit to LBOE. It was very cool inside but it felt good to me. My boys were chilly, it was hot outside so no complaints from me. Mac n cheese burger was good according to my 14 y o. The bacon cheeseburger was AWESOME according to my 16y o. We will be back again!!

This will satisfy your burger cravings! We went with the loaded fries, The B.O.M.B. and the El Diablo. The shoestring fries are topped with queso, bacon and jalapeños. It took four of us to kill an order - it's huge and deliciously sticky. The burgers were very quick to come out - less than ten minutes and closer to five. The B.O.M.B. is dressed in bleu cheese crumbles, grilled onions, mushrooms and a three or four strips of bacon. It's perfection on a bun. The boyfriend hates bleu cheese and mushrooms and was very pleasantly surprised by the overall flavor. He ordered the El Diablo covered with pepper Jack and three types of hot peppers along with other toppings. You always see menu items noting that the item is spicy and understand that this means "general public" spicy. This is NOT the case with this burger! It lives up to the name! We regularly eat hot foods and this brought out a little sweat on both of us! They serve a variety of local chips and beers. The evening we tried the place out, it was during their Beat the Clock promotion. Essentially all draft beers are $1 at 8:00 and increase in price by $0.25 each quarter hour until 10:00. The place filled up fast and they were actively pulling empties from tables to keep up with the demand. Apparently they were even busier than usual on that particular evening. It's a good problem to have! The patio is a very cute and cozy covered situation. I'm a sucker for a patio! I'll be back to try their funnel cake fries with strawberry dipping sauce and I think I heard something about a pancake brunch burger?! Yes, please.

LBOE is mostly a dive bar masquerading as a gastropub. The best burgers I've had are the"LBOE" and the "Classic". Both are delicious and done as you like them, rare to well done. Fries are a separate purchase, but are a huge serving and intended to be shared with your party, and come with two sauces. If you don't order fries, you get a bag of chips, either Zapps or "Nicki's", a local chip brand. The beer choices are above average, especially the selection on draft. Many local brews on tap. Best nights to go are Thursday from 8-10 pm. They have a happy hour that has the best prices in town, and gives you a great opportunity to branch out on beers. Unfortunately, the service level at the tables can be poor. On a recent night it took 30 mins to put in an order, and the staff visits are few and far between. Your best bet for timely service is at the bar, but that can be a challenge too. Room acoustics are an issue as well. It can be a challenge to carry a conversation during evenings, especially during the crowded happy hours.

Just ok nothing great. Not saying it was bad just if you advertise yourself as the best ever you will be judged accordingly. Was a bit over priced. Medium rare was very well done. Fries cost more only a bag of potatoes chips comes with the burgers. A good beer selection could not overcome the fact that the only way this would be best best burger on earth is if it were the last burger on earth.

Not happy at all. If you're just into burgers, then yes they have them, and they have them in a range of styles. The burgers are big and well prepared -- although you can get burgers just as good in Memphis for a lower price. Overall no problem with the burgers. But there's almost nothing on the menu besides burgers -- or nothing interesting in any case. Appetizers are the most limited and the dullest things in town. Sides? What sides? Decent options to burgers? Forget about it. OK -- some folks just want a burger and beer. For them, this is a good start. But what about ambiance and service? Disaster. Inside is as sterile as you can imagine. Concrete and clatter. OK -- let's try outside -- they actually have a decent-sounding "outside" option - an inside room that opens to the street. Sounds, good. But remember that Memphis is *hot* in summer (and summer in Memphis is long) so there's no chance of a breeze in such a setting. Instead there's major-league oscillating fans installed high on the walls. Undoubtedly doing some good overall, but you'd better hold onto the plate when it's facing in the direction of your table. And when it's facing away, then the flies won't hesitate for a moment to light upon your food and drink. Worst on the night that we were there was the service. A woman in a hurry. And inattentive. We didn't even get to complete our order before she was off and so far away that she couldn't be called back. We intended to order more than one thing each, but she just listened to the first part, turned away and was gone while one of us was still speaking. That happened more than once - and the worst was when the bill was rendered. Each of us intended to lay down his/her own credit card (split ticket) but as soon as the first card was presented, she snatched up the card and bill and was away. We actually had to chase after her (already gone inside) to tell her to wait, dammit -- customers are supposed to be people you interact with (and pretend that you enjoy it), not treated like bothersome intrusions in your life, who need to be held at the greatest possible social distance. Bottom line for us -- we won't be back. We know of other burger options in Memphis - with genuinely nice servers. Bottom line for you -- your choice. If you need nothing more than a range of interesting-sounding and tasty burgers and a beer (and don't care about the rest), LBOE could be the place for you. If you have higher expectations and realize that burgers can also be well prepared at other places in Memphis, then you might follow our example -- don't spend your money here.

My experiences at this place has been great. I don't care for chips with my burger, so I do think they should just offer fries instead of you having to order and pay for fries separately (Its a burger joint, people want fries damn it), but the burgers I have had have been delicious. Yesterday, I the Madison Melt that contained all beef patty, bacon, ham, grilled onions, cheese and a sweet bbq sauce! It was out of this world! The burgers here are large enough where I rarely eat more than half. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was really cool. They have improved tremendously since my first visit.

So I checked this place out this week for Yelp901BurgerBinge week and I am a fan. Me and my husband got there at around 9 and it wasn't crowded. We ate outside which in my book is a nice additional to any restaurant. Now of course I ordered the $5.00 Mac-n-cheeseburger with the plain chips while my hubby ordered the Grizz burger with the hottt chips. I liked my burger, it was moist, and juicy. Also, I thought the mac n cheese went really well and it tasted great. The hubs liked his burger too but claimed that the chips weren't hot at all. Now hes a Texan and I think his taste buds are gone LOL because they were super hot to me!!!!! Overall, I thought the service was good and the food was yummy. Also, all of the staff were super friendly and polite and I really liked the resturant/bar vibe. I will definately be back to try another burger!

Why had I not been to LBOE? Probably because I'm not a huge burger fan, but their veggie burger was awesome. Sat at the bar and had friendly, attentive service. Will definitely be back.

I'm afraid to leave a review for this place because of the badass drink specials. I wanted to keep it secret. But, the prices and burgers are just too awesome to not share with ya'll. Been here a few times. Most of the time, I have an awesome waiter/waitress. Keeps my drink full. There was one really bad experience. Went on my birthday and probably would have stayed all night with my group but our drinks were just empty for too long each time we finished so we went and spent our money elsewhere. Aside from that, the Tiger burger is pretty awesome. Blue cheese. Fried onions. Sweet but tangy Tiger sauce. So good. The bun is light and pairs really well with the heaviness of the burger/fixins. I recommend asking for extra tiger sauce because the bun/burger soaks it all up and it is otherwise somewhat dry. Burgers are kind of pricey considering they do not come with fries (just chips) but they're tasty for sure. They have plenty of vegetarian options: any burger can be ordered as black bean or veggie. ;)

I was speeding down Madison - Wait - not speeding - maybe just drifting fast but that's neither here nor there! I Spotted this little joint out the corner of my eye and found a cool parking spot. My wife said lets go for it and that we did. You walk in and it's a simple type of place but yet inviting at the same time. The menu is simple yet eclectic regarding the burger options. The flat screen televisions are a plus for any guy/girl you needs to know the score of the latest ball games. We ordered the turkey burgers and they came out fresh and not dry. They have various types of beer on tap which is always a good thing! We couldn't eat it all and hand to get a doggie bag - wait - doggie bag is a little lofty but you get the drift right?! It's a must!!!

Very Solid Burger!!! I had the Kuma Burger. It was a perfectly cooked Medium and seasoned well. I had never had a fried egg on a burger before but decided to give it a try. I thought the runny part kind of dulled all of the flavor of the burger so I don't think I will do that again. The Bacon was awesome! Nice and thick with lots of flavor. I dug the "Ciabatta Type" as it stood up well to the giant burger. It was soft but still firm enough to take the abuse from all of the burger grease and egg yolk. The burgers come with chips and the choices are pretty rad... Dirty Sea Salt, Zapp's Voodoo, and Nikki's Hot Ass Chips. I had the Voodoo with mine and was smart enough not to open them. I kept them for later because I was about to die from burger overdose! The burger was SO big! I struggled to finish it for lunch! I had a meeting afterwards and was totally worthless. All I could think about was telling people about what I had just eaten. Goodness! Go Here!

If you've ever wondered whether Jesus loves you, He will show you a resounding YES through the feeling you will get from this burger. I'll admit I was disappointed that I had to order fries separately, but I went for it. And then.....they came out, and I thought "Hmmm, served with tzatziki." And then I started dipping the fries. And.then. I thought "Hmmm, what's this other dipping sauce. I mean, I want to try it but I'm really loving the tzatziki so I don't know if I should." But I went for it because I'm a risktaker with tastebuds. And it was the perfect mixture of mayonnaise and ketchup. Yes. You heard me right. They.mix.mayo.and.ketchup. And you can dip these perfect fries into it. Pause here for a handclap of praise. I'll give you time. I didn't go into the bathroom, because I didn't want anything to mess up this perfect dining experience. The service was great, very attentive and not overbearing. But I didn't even care about that. Seriously. The waitress probably could have cursed me out and all I would have thought is "This burger is good, though." Go here.

Came in for the Burger Binge week. Major props for being able to cook my burger to the requested medium rare. their shoestring fries and accompanying sauces are delish. The Memphis Mules go down smooth and easy. Nice acoustic duo plahing in the background and three TVs tuned to various sporting events.

This is a solid place for a burger, fries and a beer. I got the classic with fries and a couple of local micro-brews, and had a great leisurely lunch with a friend. Service was good. Everyone was nice and no one rushed us. (Which is a big deal to me) I'm going back for sure. Try it!!!

I heard alot of great things about LBOE so I decided to try it out. I can honestly say this place is a good choice. I had the Grizz Burger. It was greatness and a big burger. You might need to warm up your jaw. The fries were thin but crispy and seasoned well. I don't know what those dipping sauces were but they were great with the fries. I wish I could give this place a 4.5 but a 4 is best. Service was kinda slow. Good but slow.

LBOE was pretty much what I expected...juicy, tasty, yumminess in between two pieces of bread. LBOE has been on my list of places to try ever since it opened. Shame on me for not trying it sooner. I went on a Sunday afternoon on the last day of the #Yelp901BurgerBinge, so I ordered the Mac & Cheese burger that was on the special. This was a huge burger patty with macaroni & cheese plus bacon crumbles on a ciabatta role. Burger was cooked perfectly and tasted delish. My only suggestion to bring this burger to another level of awesomeness is to put a little bit of spice in the mac and thicken up the cheese a bit. The "burger of the day" is one to come back for. I didn't actually try it, but the table next to me ordered one. This burger had a beef and sausage patty with a fried egg on top, with a glazed donut on the bottom and a maple glazed bacon donut on the top. Ohhhh wow, if I wasn't already craving a Mac & Cheese burger, I definitely would have tried this one. The guy couldn't even get the full burger in one bite it was so big! He definitely got his money and calories worth. This is one of those places where you just want to go down the menu and try every item. I will definitely be back...hopefully on a day where they are doing that donut burger special (insert Homer Simpson donut drooling sound effect)! Tip for the healthy eaters: you can sub chips for salad for $0.95 to make yourself feel better about the massive burger you're about to consume. That's what I did :-) Also, if you're looking for a covered patio with TVs outside, LBOE has both.

I came here to check out the $5 yelp check in deal for the mac n cheese burger. This was my first time at LBOE and I am rating it according to Yelp's description of a two star rating: "Meh. I've experienced better." I honestly would not pay more than $5 for this burger. I wish there was something else between the buns (which weren't even real burger buns) in addition to the mac n cheese and the patty (which was mostly dry). I also thought the mac n cheese was pretty plain and nothing special. I ordered to go and the lady told me it would be 10 minutes. I ended up waiting 20 minutes on a really hungry stomach :( When she handed me the bag, though, she did apologize and was nice about it. Nothing wrong with the staff themselves, but I wish my food was faster and I wish the food was more interesting because I could've probably made this on my own.

Good, but not great this time. Arrived with four friends for lunch. I ordered the onion petals and loaded fries to share with table, and the LBOE Burger. The onion petals and fries were good, but were only luke-warm. It looked like they cooked them and then waited 5 minutes to serve them. The burgers came out, but only 4/5. They dropped the ball on one of the guests. All of the burgers were overcooked. Mediums were medium well. The lone medium rare was really a medium. They were good, and everyone commented about the wonderful rolls. The server did comp the guest his soft drink for patiently waiting to be served while everyone else was eating. I probably will be back and give it another try. However, they certainly had multiple service issues today! Next time I want to try the diablo burger--my friend had to order some milk to go with it to wash it down!!!!

I recently discovered this gem of a bar and I am in love with it! They have amazing food and drink specials almost every day of the week. I love their $4.95 Classic Burger Mondays. Their burgers are absolutely delicious! I'm a vegetarian and never thought I'd find any other veggie burger that tastes as good as the ones that Huey's has, but LBOE's black bean burger is divine. I love that they have an outdoor seating area too! Besides Mondays, I also like going there for their Tuesday pint night which starts at 6pm (all drafts $2.50!!), and their Beat the Clock Thursdays when starting 8pm, all drafts start at $1 and increase by $0.25 every quarter hour till 10pm when they settle at $3 till closing! So to sum it up, I think this is THE bar to hit up in Memphis at the moment. Great staff, great atmosphere, great food, and great prices!Huge fan!!

Well I've eaten here before and I enjoyed the Burger. Today I decided to try the Mac and cheese burger. It was discounted to $5 if I checked in through yelp. It was a unique ensemble. I didn't expect for it to blend well but it did. Nothing off putting about it at all. The down side was that it just tasted average. The Mac and cheese could have used some more seasoning and even some more cheese. It's a great dish but they should try sprucing it up a little. Especially if it's a yelp deal and they are encouraging people to write and review the food.

I've patronized LBOE twice and was pleased with each visit. The first time I had the The Tiger (Turkey) Burger, the second time the Mac-N-Cheesburger (for $5 I might add, courtesy of Yelp). Both burgers were cooked just the way I wanted them "medium" and were great! The burgers come with chips but I gotta have fries with a burger. Just be aware the fries portions are ginormous...enough for two or three people. $4.95 is a bit much for fries for a single person. Not sure what is behind this decision to offer one size but I'd like to suggest they offer a smaller portion for half the cost. I love the "on the sidewalk" seating; great place to people watch.

I ate at LBOE as part of the #yelp901burgerbinge, and I will surely be back! The environment was laid back and fun. (A soccer match was playing on the screens.) Our waiter Tim was a nice guy and took good care of us. The onion petals were fantastic. We ate those and took our chips home for later. The portion was generous, and can easily be shared by 3-4 people. My friend and I did not finish them. Our burgers were cooked medium as requested. Great tasting meat. Good texture. The bun was excellent. I couldn't really taste the Mac-n-cheese in the burger and would prefer it as a side. I also thought the burger needed pickles. I did douse it with mustard which helped. In all a great burger and the menu had several enticing options for my next visit.

Holy yum. Best black bean burger I've had! I had the Californian (sans jalapeño) and it was perfect. The drink specials are really good, and they have a nice beer selection. The fries were pretty good too. The service I've had here hasn't been consistent. The first time I went was for drinking purposes, and the service was so bad that I left pretty angry. Service tonight was perfect. I will definitely be back and will bring visitors here.

One main thing that sets LBOE apart from every other burger joint is the Ciabatta bread that they use and also the Nikki's hot ass chips. The atmosphere has an open seating with the bar to the right of the entrance and some sit down areas to the left of the restaurant. There are several TVs where you can watch the game which is a plus! I ventured in a few wks ago and boy was i in for the best burger i've had in Memphis yet. I had split an order of the Bacon and Cheese burger which was a classic Hardwood smoked bacon, american cheese, shredded lettuce and tomatos and dill pickle. I had also added a order of fries. The order comes with chips and i chose the hot chips. To my surprise when the order came out it was the local chip company - Nikkis hot ass chips. I love the chips and i love to eat and shop anything. The burger was on point cooked to a medium while the ciabatta bread was slightly toasted and buttered. The fries came out on a big tray that could easily feed the 3 of us at the table. It was delicious. Best burger yet in Memphis! #Yelp901

I am impressed! Although LBOE offers a variety of burgers, it all has to start with a basic hamburger. This burger starts out with a winner. The beef used on these burgers is excellent. They obviously use fresh beef, no frozen pre-pressed patties, here. We had the Mac and Cheese Burger. I was impressed. I loved the fact that the burgers are served with locally made chips, Nikki's Hot Ass Chips, and other varieties. We also had the onion petals. Very good...too good, it's hard to stay on any diet with those staring at me. All in all, I like this place! Very comfortable atmosphere and the wait staff is cheerful and attentive (thanks, Tim). I will be going back, soon!

I have to admit I was slightly disappointed after all the hype around this place. I've tried several burger places lately and this was probably the one that was the most "meh" to me. Granted, it was good, but there are things holding it back. First, the service was very so-so. The staff is young and just had a very relaxed feel. The decor and atmosphere needs some work, it was just ok. Not what I was expecting for a hip new place, I guess. The menu is pretty small. Not always a bad thing, but I felt somewhat restricted by the few amount of choices. On to the food itself. The burgers are good, yes. Far from the last burger on earth. They are cooked well and have good flavor. I tried the Lava Me or Lava Me not burger and also tried my wife's which was the Walkin in Memphis burger. I love all things spicy but honestly it just wasn't hot enough for me. Actually, the chips that came with it were way hotter than the burger itself. The flavors they put on the burger sounded crazy on the menu but it was surprisingly bland for what I was expecting. The Memphis burger was much better; that one I would recommend. I also would probably change the buns they put them on. Now I had read other reviewers say they are fried or really greasy and to ask for it toasted, so I did. The waitress told me they come toasted. I got mine and it was fine, not greasy at all so maybe they have fixed that since the other reviews. I'm glad I tried it, but since I have to drive across town to get there, to me it wasn't really worth going back for, especially with the limited menu.

I've been on a burger kick for the past two weeks. Juicy cheeseburgers literally dance in my dreams these days. Maybe I need more protein, maybe I need more iron, or maybe I am just a fatty. Bottom line: I can't get enough meat. The menu is entirely burgers, which I appreciate. If you're veggies only, they do have a veggie option. And fries. OMG those fries. There was this one dipping sauce that I was basically fighting Drew over and we learned that it was ketchup and mayo...it doesn't sound like much and I would probably just call it secret sauce...but holy moly. Meow. I also got a ton of likes on Instagram of my burger photo. Food porn for the win! My only complaint was that the bathrooms need some work. I never went to the Dublin House (what was in this building before LBOE) but I don't think they did anything to it...and it was a little bit grungy. I'm a stickler on bathrooms.

We decided to go here on a whim late on a Saturday afternoon. It was only half full but our food seemed like it took forever to come out. My burger was pretty good and large enough for me to eat it for two servings. I also got the chips, which were also good, but are not usually my first choice as a side but it was the only option they had. It is also nice that they have a parking lot behind since parking in this area can be pretty hard to find sometimes.

My friends and I come here A LOT. The waitstaff are all super nice and friendly, and they *will* remember you if you come a few times. They have awesome happy hour deals (beat the clock night on Thursday is great, although it was VERY crowded last time due to a new bartender and new semester), and the burgers are really good. My personal favorite is either the Mac and cheese burger (with grilled onions added), or the El Diablo (not for the faint of heart!).

FIRST OF ALL HAPPY HOUR ALERT!!! $1 off all drinks 11-6. Weekdays. While I am still on the edge about this place I must say I am glad to see my girl, Holly behind the bar right by my place of residency!! She is the most friendly bartender I personally have met. The food is actually pretty good too. I don't suggest the turkey burger but the Greek to Me, LBOE burger and the Bacon Cheeseburger were all good. I was disappointed in decor(i hate wood panels) and the lack of unique burgers like they promised us, but after speaking with the owner one random Friday during lunch he did say it was coming. I would love to try some crazy burgers bc most of the ones they have are already being served in the Square! But at least they were good. The price is meh, considering it comes with chips. But overall I will probably be a regular here ESPECIALLY when I see more appetizers and burger choices. Oh and I hope they start using other ingredients like arugula leaves. Maybe I am getting too bougie (bourgeoise) with my burgers now but it would be nice. I mean even Wendy's is stepping it up. I love the people there though and like I said I'm sure it will be in my normal rotation, but I really hope some things change to help make them stand out!!

LBOE is a great addition to the Overton Square area. Every time I've dined in, I've been treated with a delicious burger grilled exactly as ordered. The patties are substantial, and the ciabatta buns get delightfully greasy the deeper into the burger you get. Most burgers offer some twist to the standard American burger, usually with some unique cheese or something like garlic sautéed spinach or chips, but they're all delicious in their own right, and they don't get too cute or out there with their variations. My favorites are the LBOE, the Greek, and the El Diablo (a fantastic spicy burger). If it doesn't come with bacon, I usually add that too. Justine behind the bar is also exceptionally attentive and overall a pleasure. The customer service in general is top notch. Great local beer selection and a full bar doesn't hurt either. There are usually beer and cocktail specials, so it's usually not an issue if you want a beer with your burger but don't feel like breaking the bank. With two dedicated burger joints in the area, not to mention Huey's down the road, LBOE has to deliver if it's going to survive, and it consistently serves up gourmet burgers without the need for frills or gimmicks. I know exactly what I'm going to get when I order, and that's one of the most admirable qualities I can find in a restaurant. If I'm paying $9+ for a cheeseburger, I want to feel like I'm getting my money's worth, it's just a burger after all, and LBOE consistently leaves me satisfied with my purchase.

I haven't had a bad burger! And if you're military and I'm uniform you get half off! Last time I had the LBOE burger and it was delish. I can't wait to do the Mac and cheese burger!!

First time visiting here. My girl and I went around 2-3pm and it was pretty quite. I got the LBOE and she got the Mac & Cheeseburger because she's weird like that. Also ordered a thing of fries and they give you a lot of fries for the price. I wouldn't say it's the last burger on earth that I would want if it came to that, I've had better. It was pretty good though. She loved the Mac & Cheeseburger, mostly because she loves all Mac&Cheese related. The sauces that come with the fries are great! The service was kinda iffy, felt as if we weren't wanted there because we weren't ordering any liquor. I figure I will come again in the future though. On a plus side, we did get to keep our cups.

I have always eaten my fries with a mixture of mayo and ketchup and my friends would always think I'm weird. I finally found a place that serve such a sauce. I feel vindicated. I love the atmosphere of this place. Very laid back and a great place to hang out with friends for happy hours or game watching. Food was delish! I like it that they had Turkey and black bean patty options as the meat substitute. Everyone can try their burgers!

I had the LBOE cooked medium and added an egg. Dang fine burger. Dude with me had the Memphis. He wasn't a big fan of the bbq sauce and recommended having the sauce on the side, but otherwise his burger was good. Will return.

I was really excited to try out this new burger place since I love trying to restaurants and I LOVE burgers! However, this restaurant did not meet my expectations. I love fried eggs on my burgers, so I ordered the Kuma burger which came with a fried egg and bacon. My first bite was tasty. However, my next few bites filled my mouth with greasy, greassyyyyy GREASE! I took a look at the shiny burger bun, which I thought was maybe brushed with a little butter and toasted. However, when I asked the server, he said that the ciabatta bun was deep fried. I love deep fried foods, but this bun was not deep fried correctly, as this bun was SOAKED IN GREASE like a SPONGE! The manager that came and spoke to us was standoffish and didn't really say anything when he came by our table, besides having the nerve to tell me "It's not grease, it's the yolk from your fried egg." As if to say I'm dumb and can't tell the difference between egg yolk and grease! So then I proceeded to take the bun in my hand and squeezed the bread. I literally could have filled a double shot glass with the grease that dripped out of half of the bottom bun. And then he left without apologizing or giving any customer service type attitude. However, when our bill came, it looked like he "secretly" comped 1/2 off my burger ($5). But why couldn't he say something to us in the beginning along the lines of "I'm sorry, what can I do to make it right?" Anyways.. Fries were good. Contents of burger was good. But the bun was greasy. And the managers customer service was way below par.

I'll have to echo the commentary regarding grease. Yikes... just stop with the deep fried buns, it's not good tasting, or good for you. Okay, so... the rest of it on the two stars (because buns alone don't drop to two stars). The logistics of coming into the place, a little unorganized, but friendly enough. The decor/ambiance is just not finished. The lighting is direct down on you, and it makes the space feel a bit awkward. They could get it though, but needs a interior designer's touch. The service was solid though. A guy, I think Tim, was a solid waiter. Responsive, gave space, always available... I'll give them that, because he was a good dude. Also, the bartender was nice while we waited for the table and had a beer. I think the combo of an interior that needs more work, and a burger that was destroyed by a double grease sponge simply did not impress, and unfortunately the "Last Burger On Earth" was simply the "Last Burger From LBOE." Also... one other problem for them is Belly Acres, because although that place isn't 100% perfect either, it's above LBOE and they're serving up the same basic product. Give it a try, and make your own call. I hate talking down about new Memphis restaurants, so hopefully they'll correct course and start to shine with much of the rest of Overton Square.

I love burgers, and learned about this place when they won an award at the Best Memphis Burger Festival. they burgers are good, and I've enjoyed the three I've had so far. It's a family oriented place, with multiple flat screens for the sports enthusiasts. They also have live music on a regular basis.

Been frequenting this spot, and I notice a lot of locals and not so many tourists here yet. Maybe its the confusing name that doesn't scream out to you... "hey! we are a burger joint!" Anyhow, their burgers are good and on the larger size. Good meat to bun ratio, my fave so far is the Lava Me or Lava Me Not... not as spicy as one would expect. I thought that the side of hot chips were spicer than the burger itself. Service has been great as well each time! HAPPY HOUR! aka drink on a budget... On Mondays they serve their signature burger for $5, and on Tuesdays are their $2.50 pint nights... however, their kegs seem to be tapped out often since they have a limit on how much beer they can buy being that they're the new kid on the block... hopefully they'll keep more in stock soon!

LBOE or Last Burger on Earth sits at the former location of Dublin House, just a bit west of Overton Square. I found out from a friend that they had opened and decided to go give them a shot. I immediately learned on walking in that the name is pronounced "elbow" which was a little weird, as I've been calling it L.B.O.E. for the last month as I awaited their opening. I sat at the bar and was greeted immediately by the friendly bartender. I ordered myself a beer which she poured quickly for me and got myself a food menu. The menu consists of several burgers available as both regular ground beef burgers, or ground turkey burgers. They also have a veggie burger option and a salad option. I opted for the LBOE burger. My next choice was on chips. Burgers are served with a choice of Memphis Barbecue, Voodoo, Nikki's Hot, or Sea Salt chips. I opted for the Voodoo chips. The burger was cooked exactly as I ordered it, and tasted great. The portion size compared to price was also good. Also speed of getting the burger was excellent. The only thing I would like to see more of would be more local beers. Right now there are only two local beers on tap. There are at least a good bit of craft beers, but I'd like to have seen a local IPA available. Overall I definitely look forward to going back again.

Customer service was real good! We came at lunch and although not very busy - we were seated outside on the patio quickly, our order was taken promptly, and everything was good. If you have not had one of their hamburgers, you are truly missing out. I had the basic hamburger, the Classic and it was excellent. Cooked medium, if was juicy, it was messy, and it was seasoned perfectly. I don't eat a lot of hamburgers - but I know one thing, I would return here again. Excellent!!

I recently moved to Memphis and have been looking for a good burger. Today I found one. I had the Madison Melt and it was really tasty. I ordered it medium and it was cooked correctly and had great flavor. I agree with others that the burgers are a bit pricey and should include fries instead of chips for the cost. I'm not a chip fan, so I was left with ordering fries as an appetizer or nothing, so I chose nothing. My brother in law ordered the onion blossom appetizer, and it was just ok. Except for those things, I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a good burger.

3.5 stars is more like it, but obviously that's not an option. I tried the LBOE burger, and it was good, but it lacked seasoning within the meat; therefore -a little bland. Otherwise, the quality and freshness was there without a doubt, and I'll be back at some point to try their other burgers. Fortunately, I didn't experience a greasy bun as was the case with many of the other reviewers, but my rating would be much lower if that was the case. I'm hopeful that the buns will never be greasy when I go back.

  • Rob B.

So this is my second visit to LBOE. It has been several months since my first visit which was underwhelming to say the least. For starters the queso is still boring. However, the bacon cheeseburger was very good. Mrs. B had the bunless turkey Greek and really enjoyed it. I think the problem here is the complete lack of energy or vibe to the place. It feels really lethargic in there. Overall, if all I want is a burger and a beer this place will do. If I'm looking for a place to hang out and have some drinks, it's not my kind of place. I hope they do well, I always pull for small business owners.

Guess if you go to a burger place you should get a burger, but I wanted a salad. The ingredients in the Summer salad were fresh, but the combo of fruit, blue cheese, nuts and hard boiled eggs with balsamic vinegarette was not the best. Leave the egg out!

  • Niki D.

I really wanted to like LBOE. While I do like that you can pick the style of meat you want (ie: Turkey, Beef, Black Bean ) it left a lot to be desired. It was an ok meal for me. I got the LBOE burger and my boyfriend got the BOMB burger. It is as though they want the toppings to make the flavor. The toppings for the burger were good, but the meat itself was lacking in flavor. All the toppings in the world do not make up for poorly seasoned burgers. As someone that went to culinary school, I know I would have been harshly scolded for turning in under-seasoned beef to my professors. I would probably not return since this place was nothing special.

Order onion pedals, Greek to me burger and the bomb burger. If you enjoy that greasy burger this this the place for you. Very good and cooked to order.

I heard about LBOE when it first opened and had wanted to try it so many times. I have followed LBOE on Facebook and Love their Burgers of the Day. I finally tried them a week ago when Becky was feeling under the weather and I ordered us both the "Throw Me Something Mister" Burger which has to be one of the best burgers I have ever had! The staff is great and super friendly.

I ordered the mushroom melt . It was a great burger!! I ordered the voodoo chips too, sweet, tangy barbecue. I'm not one for potato chips but these were some of the best I've had. My husband and I ordered the fries too, which were pretty standard with two dipping sauces. My husband and I will definitely be coming here again. They have great service and our waiter knew which beers to recommend which is always a plus.

We came in on a Saturday night and it was not busy. We would soon realize why. We ordered the loaded fries as an appetizer because we wanted burgers and fries, but fries don't come with the burgers here. The fries were good, and the burger selections are nice. The burgers came out on nice bread with quality toppings, but the patties were horrible. They tasted like frozen Sysco beef patties. What made them even worse was that they were not charred or seasoned at all. No texture and no taste. The only thing I liked on the plate were the Zapp's Voodoo chips. Fortunately, we can get those at the store and never have to come back here again.

Great burgers and the fried onions are oh so wonderful! Four of us went for lunch on Friday. Everyone ordered a different burger and they were all very good. Will definitely try happy hour after work one day. Midtown is awesome and this spot fits right in.

With a simple menu and attentive service- I like LBOE. I had the Memphian Burger that includes pulled pork, and sausage in addition to the patty. I ordered with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised. I assumed that the pulled pork would be an afterthought, but it was seasoned and juicy. My dining companion ordered something less imaginative. It had a cool name, but it was a bacon cheeseburger. She was jealous of my Memphian burger. The french fries were okay, but the dipping sauces were quite good. The vibe is casual and laid back. The enclosed patio will likely be really nice when it is warm.

You may have heard that McDonald's is enduring poor sales, yet they "resisted" frying their buns. For good reason, it gets way to greasy. So why are they doing this? I feel a bit sick after having had their Tiger burger tonight. To quote my better half, buns shouldn't have as much fat as a beef paddy. And it was certainly not medium rare, my wife`s wasn't medium either. Not sure why I wasn't just told that they don't cook to order. Best thing here, their fries. Their attempt at a Greek inspired Tzatziki dipping sauce, also fun. So come for a beer and fries, but go elsewhere for the main course.

I'm not normally one to write a review, but LBOE surprised me tonight and I will definitely be back. I had brought a friend from out of town who wanted a burger so we decided to stop in. There were a few large parties so they warned us of the wait when we got in. The server was very attentive she kept coming by to check on us and even the manager come by to apologize. The food was well worth the wait. I had the Californian chipotle black bean burger which was utterly fantastic, better than most meat burgers I've had. My friend had the signature LBOE, which was delicious. I'd also recommend the voodoo chips especially if you like salt and vinegar chips. It's a good atmosphere they really have the mid town feel. Will definitely be back.

I went to dinner here with a girlfriend last week thinking I would really like this place....i was sadly mistaken. The burger I ordered was so greasy that it made my feel gross. I am not use to eating greasy foods and it hurt my stomach. I only ate half of it and gave my sister-in-law the rest. The fries were good though. And the service was ok....I might go back if a friend wanted to go but it will never be my first choice.

Pros. I loved my burger! The ciabatta bread was fried and that was interesting. I ordered the memphis burger with kibosa sausage and pulled pork. I loved it! Tuesday pint night $2.50 draft pints. I think the menu is small but I am sure that they will add to it in the future.

Pretty good but there's room for improvement. I was there on a Monday and got the special of the day - a basic burger for $4.95. The burger would have been good but it was coated in pepper and I hate pepper. I could only eat a few bites. I think it would have been really good with a few layers of pepper scraped off. Restaurant is cute but the staff (at least on the day I was there) all seemed kind of glum. Never saw a smile. Maybe they all just got some really bad news right before we came in. On a positve note, the fries were awesome and they have some really good daily specials on food and drinks.

The best burger I have had in Memphis! I have been here twice already. First time I ordered the LBOW burger, second time was the burger of the day. The burgers are absolutely fantastic! I cannot say enough; cook to order, local meat and produce, brioche buns. Delicious! I really like the french fries - shoe string, skinny fries with some white dipping sauce. Will definitely be going back!

Ok I've been seeing all the post and hearing my coworkers talk about this place LOBE. Me and my wife planned this night to go and see what the hype was all about. We walked in and was greeted and loved the atmosphere. We actually was with a group of friends. Well anyho we ordered our drinks. I had the Memphis rum runner. It's was really good but tasted like a fruit drink. I really think they left the alcohol out, but anyway. I ordered the Cheese Bacon Burger. Ok here were it gets bad. I don't proclaim to be a food canniseure but this burger was bland. No seasoning. I thought it was me but everyone at the table said the same thing. Now the presentation was excellent but it had no taste. If it wasn't for the bacon my dinner would be awful. The fries were just ok. Save your money if your getting the cheese fries. Not worth $7. Don't know if I keep going on nights to restaurants where the chefs suck or what. I might try it again to be sure. I only give this place 3 stars.

My burger was awesome. The bun was fresh and flavorful. Plenty of options for burgers - not much else on the menu though. I like a place that does one thing really, really well.

Mixed feelings. Enjoyed my Greek burger (sautéed spinach ) & liked the fries with fry sauce & tadziki. The storage room is way too far from the kitchen. The place maybe could have been reconfigured before opening. Staff went in & out to get various supplies throughout our meal. We did not know we were sitting in front of the storage room or we would have chosen another table. The manager (?) Sitting with the large party made it seem as if they were the most important table. Will this be my "LBOE"? No.

Too many burger spots on one road. This is just another one. My wife and I both got sick the day after we ate here. It was the last thing we ate at night and the next day was pretty rough. And I normally have iron gut.

Second try, and my Kuma burger was much better, cooked perfectly to order. Prices seem lower too. However, the same irritant remains, namely LBOE's seeming aversion to French fries, despite them being America's preferred accompaniment to burgers. Burgers still come with chips, but now for an upcharge you can substitute soup, but not fries. Fries are still a mega appetizer for the whole table at $4.95. Sorry, LBOE, but bagged chips and gourmet burgers don't exactly go together.

Def one of the best burgers in Memphis! Everything was cooked to perfection! Staff was also super friendly. Highly recommended!

Went in for the first time the other day and overall I was pretty danged pleased. My buddies and I came in before heading to the game. Saw the Burger of the day was "The Grizz", so I had to order it. It was huge and delicious. Did I mention it was huge? A double patty, BBQ, two cheeses, bacon - Awesome. We also ordered the "Love Stinks", garlic, garlic cream cheese. onions - oh man! and we got the "Mushroom Melt" a good solid burger with lots of cheese and shrooms! Overall we really liked all 3 burgers but the Grizz was overpoweringly awesome! I have seen a few posts about greasy buns, but we did not have that experience at all - we asked the server and were informed that they no longer fried the buns. Oh yeah and about the fries... we ordered it for the whole table and just kept the chips for later. The fries are nicely crisp but are not for just one person, you need at least two peeps to tackle that plateful. Overall it was cool - Big Bonus, it was Tuesday so it was Pint Night! (gotta love pint nights!) We will be back, I have my eye on the Walking in Memphis Burger.

Sat at the bar--bartenders were warm and friendly, quick with refills. So many great burger options it was difficult to choose but luckily you can mix things up. I got the classic and added an egg. Havarti cheese is an excellent touch. Burger was cooked perfectly and was a lot of food. I'm not a fan of chips, but ordered the fries and shared with my friend...took the chips home. I agree it might be nice to offer fries as a side...charge a dollar more to get them instead of chips of needed. Plenty of large flat screens behind the bar to watch a game. Overall, great atmosphere, food, and service.

My fiancé and I had the absolute worst restaurant experience of our lives at this restaurant tonight. We waited at our table for 20 minutes before we got drinks. No one came to our table, so I ended up walking from our table to the bar to get them the whole night. After an hour and twelve minutes went by, no one from the LBOE staff had said one word to us, so we paid our tab at the bar and left. I went up to the bar about 4 times to get drinks tonight. Besides that, the only interaction we had with a staff member was, one, the hostess who told us no table was open when there was one clearly open on the patio, two, the waiter who said NOTHING to us when he grabbed our stack of empty glasses, and three, when my fiancé spoke with the manager who seemed not to care about the horrible service and inconvenience we experienced tonight.

For some reason this place reminds me the equivalent of what Swanky's is to Mexican cuisine. Just not there. LBOE (Last Burger on Earth) is far from the title it claims. I'll say it's decent, but LTIG (Last Time I'll Go). Definitely not memorable, but not awful either. Fries were good, although I could get better a few blocks down at Fuel Cafe. As for the burger, I could get a better all over town.

I really wanted to like this place but it's way too overpriced and not good enough to be worth it. I applaud their new and featured burger creations, but I just can't eat them.

So, we came at lunch because I have not been to the store in a while--3 pm. quiet, clean, cool. Yummm. The lboe burger is* fantastic*. I love their bread! Share with a friend. And the fries. Love the garage doors on their patio. Very attentive service. This is a bar; not a place for kids like belly acres. I would think it's a nice way to spend a pretty day if you are in the midtown area. I have no idea what the night life is like but our exprience was great.

Walked in just before 5pm. Two other tables busy with a few Grizzlies fans at the bar. Someone brought menus by and walked away. After we couldn't get anyone's attention for nearly 15 minutes we walked out. Maybe the next place in this location will be good.

Mediocre burgers. What burger joint offers fries as an app and not as a side? Don't waste your time here. Our service was great but the food was mediocre at best. The atmosphere is not particularly interesting, and felt like a cafeteria, and not a hip new burger joint on the square. Also prices were a bit high for the quality of food we received.

  • Main B.

Not the best burger in Memphis... But they are still good! Glad to see they finally made some additions to their menu! Go on Monday when the classic is $4.95, and on Thursday night for Beat The Clock draft specials. Otherwise, you might find yourself feeling like you overpaid.. Overall, a good place to eat and drink, should be lots of fun in the summer, if it makes it until then.

We probably won't go back until they are open for a while longer. We went as a family and the actual space of the restaurant was fine. We were greeted timely and the wait staff was fine. Our server was only about 16 and it was very clear it was it his first job ever. Bless his heart. When we asked what they had on tap he ask us if that was the same thing as draft. I won't hold that against him. He messed up our order. All 3 of them. We only sent one back for them to add cheese to it, because we didn't care enough. All the beers had to be brought to our table by an older staff so we wait at least 10 minutes for every beer.... Our food came out before our beer. I have no problem with having young staff, but I do think they need a game plan for the tables the young staff serve.

My wife and I stopped in for lunch, I got the Tiger and she got the Mushroom Burger. We asked to have the burgers cut in half so we could share. Food came out super fast... everything looked great, then we both tried the Tiger first. Wow... Great bread, fresh ground beef (good fresh flavor, you know it when you eat it), and the Tiger sauce was perfect. It could have used a little something more in the texture category, maybe lettuce? Overall flapper was outstanding. Next we dove into the Mushroom Burger, same thing as the first burger. Everything tasted great, the havarti have it such a good flavor and the mushrooms were perfectly done. Great burgers all around! I had a Memphis Made "Sully" red ale with my meal. It was a perfect match for the great tasting burgers. We will be back!

I enjoyed LBOE a a lot and really appreciated what they did to the space. It's open and comfortable. I had the spicy "Lava" burger, complete with hot chips on top of the party. It was by far one of my favorite burgers in Memphis. They did a good job being creative with the burger menu, with items like a Greek burger that other places don't have. You can also substitute the veggie patty on any of the burgers. That being said, I hope they will add a few more items to the menu, specifically appetizers and shareable items. Right now, you can only get cheese dip or fries. If I'm going with a group, I will want to order some things to share, too. Overall, I definitely recommend this place. It's fun and inexpensive.

Went on New Years eve and didn't see a hostess, thought we had to seat ourselves until a hostess did pop up and seat us.The menu is limited but the burgers and what you can do with them aren't, you csn easily switch things around and add no problem. They don't serve fries only baked chips that taste wonderfully. The burgers are huge and well topped,I ordered the bacon chesse burger and it came with enough bacon for everyone at the table. The service was great and the staff very very friendly, would recommend to everyone.

I was pleased with the portion, price, and taste. For other non-red meat eaters, they offer turkey burgers and I saw a veggie burger on the menu, which is what I'm anticipating to try next time. The chips & dip were meh, wouldn't order again, but I saw a table close to us split some fries that looked good. It's awesome that they offer the local Nikki's hot chips. The atmosphere isn't anything too exciting, but it's perfect for going to get a burger and drink and watch the game. Low key and welcoming. I'll be back and have recommended to friends.

I have to say that I absolutely love this place. I've had almost every burger on the menu and have truly enjoyed every one of them. I tend to get the LBOE but I also really enjoy Love Stinks too. I also love the greasy bun, fried or otherwise. Awesome, just awesome.

Ate at LBOE for the first time today. Loved it. Great burger. Cooked perfectly. Sweet tea was excellent as well as the service. Thanks to our server Kimberly. My husband and I will return to try other burgers on the menu. They really got some great variations on the menu.

Super awesome! I'm not normally one to post but we shared 1 burger and immediately had to try another. Holly was the bartender. Maybe we once knew her from Mulligans in the Pinch, who knows. We got the garlic burger (forgot the actual name) but substituted the veggie burger. Then we shared Walkin' In Memphis. Both were superstar good! Big burgers on toasted ciabatta. Comes with chips. I love the Hot Ass Nikki chips! They have happy hour deals after 2 pm. Dollar off this and that, wasn't paying attention because I was so hungry. I'm sure it's all worth it. It's important, at least to me, to know that they serve Fireball in frozen shot glasses. Give this place a chance! Second chance is happening soon!

Absolutely awful first impression. How can a waitress overlook a customer at a table and not notice that one of the customers did not receive their food, and then come back to the table twice and still not ask. The service is lousy, and the burgers are not that great. The buns are fried and very greasy. A greasy burger with a bag of cheap chips for a $11 bucks was high. We won't ever go back there again. I recommend they hire more experienced people.
