Diabetics at TGI Friday

If you're a diabetic, then you must be extra careful while dining at TGI Friday. Try the salad menu at TGI Friday to keep your sugar and sodium intake in check. Soups are great to keep you full and satisfied without munching on the unhealthy greased meat-based dishes on TGI Friday menu.

Foods to Avoid at TGI Friday for Diabetics:

Sugar and sodium intake are crucial if you have diabetes. While the salads are the best option for you at TGI Friday, it is recommended to avoid the Pecan-Crusted Chicken Salad containing over 1000 calories and 1,650mg sodium. Also, skip Warm Pretzels with Craft Beer-Cheese dipping sauce as it contains more than 3000mg sodium. It is wise to skip the dessert for diabetics, especially the Brownie Obsession topped with Vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce, and pecans.

i have been wanting to try this restaurant, and yesterday i finally had a chance. the restaurant looks cool, but i am not impress at all with all their sauces. tasted to bland and not much flavor. the clear soup was good. i ordered dynamite tuna, which i thought will be a variety of tuna and something spicy inside, but i hardly see any tuna and it was a lot of salmon and cream cheese. the crab claw was just a fried food, taste nothing special about it. the one sushi roll i ordered had a seared tuna on top, the only taste was salty. my son ordered hibachi kid steak and he only ate the steak. he said the fried rice doesn't taste good. i will definitely give an A rating for their oyster. it was soooo good and great value for 15$ for 12 of them. thats the only thing on their menu that will make me come back to this restaurant.

Ordered the chicken yakitori, baked fish roll, and eel roll. Chicken yakitori was dry, the baked fish roll was covered in spicy mayo, and the eel roll was mushy and swimming in eel sauce. I went late in the afternoon, and the restaurant was pretty empty (two other tables). For how pretty the presentation was, I would expect tastier food. Beautiful restaurant and atmosphere though.

Very nice people own this place. They also own Fuji Café in Collierville. The sushi is delicious and the rolls come with wonderful sauces. It's very artistic and flavorful. I would highly recommend. Ask for a Nagoya roll.. It's a real treat.

Disappointing. Tried it for lunch with dear daughter. She ordered the seafood udon and I had the lunch special with bang bang chicken/tempura. Mine looked pretty but was not flavorful. Tempura was ok really hard to mess that up. But the bang bang was chicken nuggets with some ketchup flavored sauce on it. Way disappointing. The salad had a sweet, yes I said sweet ginger dressing. Not a fan of it. Some type of cool noodle salad was tasty but it was only a very small portion. The service was friendly but won't be coming back. Can find much better food elsewhere. Sad that we had been looking forward to it only to be disappointed.

We just moved to the area from Southern California and was on the lookout for Hibachi! We spotted this place while driving by and decided to give it a try. We were greeted right away and seated immediately at the hibachi tables. There are 3 types of dining to choose from: sushi bar, table dining & hibachi grill. I order one spicy tuna hand roll, hibachi scallops and my husband & kids ordered the hibachi steak. We were extremely disappointed with our order. Everything from the hibachi dipping sauces, salad dressing, fried rice, scallops & steak was overwhelmingly sweet tasting. However, the hand roll was fresh and flavorful, I will definitely be back for the sushi! My only complaint is I had to remind them several times that I had ordered a hand roll and received it towards the end of dinner. Unfortunately this place did not work out for us. :/

So in love with this place! Has THE BEST sushi and hibachi. Service is excellent and waitresses/waiters are so kind. I've recommended it to all my friends.

The best hibachi value in the Memphis area. The quality of the food and staff attentiveness is fantastic, we have been there on more than one occasion and have enjoyed it each time! Try the steak and shrimp combo. Very friendly staff and the lunch hibachi special is a great deal.

It seems like people are reluctant to give Friday Tuna 5 Stars. I don't know why. this place deserves it! Excellent service, great Sushi, good Saki and reasonable prices! Oh, be sure to check out the really nice restrooms.

Surprised to see the comments in some of the negative reviews. We have had nothing but good experiences here. I have actually had to cut back because we were going twice a week! Between my wife and I, we have tried at least 15 different sushi rolls all of them being very good. Everything has been extremely fresh. Hibachi and sushi specials are a great deal on Mon and Tues... We used to always go to Fuji in Collierville but I think the really good Sushi chefs got moved here :-). Friday Tuna has become our go-to sushi restaurant in Memphis!

It's like this place was on the fence about being a hibachi or sushi joint so they decided "Hey, let's be below average at BOTH!" Arrived as the first couple of a 12 person party at 7:30 on a Friday evening. 60pct full. Promptly brought to our table. Quickly offered drinks. Cold sake (Nigori) here is significantly overpriced at 15 for a 300ml bottle but I didn't notice the price until after ordering. This would become a trend. Surprisingly solid beer offerings (Sam adams octoberfest) are more than fairly priced at 3ea. Went with that next and specifically requested a glass. Beer arrives slowly but no glass. 2nd request got it. Drink service overall was a fiasco with spotty touches and frequently forgotten orders. On to the food. We opened with a tuna tataki... A staple for us. SPR is the gold standard for this locally and FT's take was not good. I can appreciate creativity but the dry rub they tried on the seared tuna seemed to be held on with liquid smoke which completely overpowered the tuna and didnt meld well with the sweet tataki sauce. 2/10. My girlfriend mistakenly ordered a volcano roll in place of a rainbow roll. Thankfully as the latter was absurdly priced at 15... Generally an 8-10 dollar item. The volcano roll was decent but not spectacular. Fish was overwhelmed and the entire concoction had an unfortunate consistency. Overall the sushi menu was sorely lacking... sashimi options were almost non-existent, for example. 3.5/10 The Hibachi course was your run of the mill hibachi with the same food (soup/salad//rice/veggies/meats) you get at any other hibachi joint. Chefs perform the same routine/jokes (oh look, Japanese egg roll!). In this case our chef was Latino. Not a big deal but matters to some folks. Overall the food was cooked properly and tasted good. Not great not bad. The only thing truly of note was the opening salad typically features a ginger dressing. Here it tasted like ginger cut 50/50 with a watery mayonaise. Not good. Overall I'd give it 2.5 stars but ill bump to 3 for the decor (slightly above average for hibachi place). Food service was good. Drink service was very spotty. This is NOT a place I'd go for just sushi. Overpriced and not very good quality. I probably won't be back. Too many other. Superior options in the city.

I have really, really mixed feelings about this place. The sushi was DELICIOUS, like truly amazing. The service was really good, they really cared and wanted you to enjoy your meal. On the other hand, it took us 45 minutes to an hour to ever even get our sushi. They kept telling us, "We are so sorry, our sushi bar is backed up..." Yet there was maybe 3 other tables of people? We ordered 5 rolls and got one at a time.. They lady kept saying "Y'all eat really fast..." Another bad thing is we ordered 5 rolls, averaging $10, and we were still starving after we finished. I really wanted to love this place, but I think I will stick to Sakura!

Wow what a great place to eat Sushi in Cordova. Hands down some of the best Sushi I have ever had. Came highly recommended by a lot of my neighbors so decided to try it over the Christmas holiday and was a great choice. Hibachi was great the first time but the second time the sushi was even better. Had Fried Sushi for the first time here and the Volcano roll and the Las Vegas roll was my favorite. Snow Mountain roll was good as well. The only concern I had was service at the beginning was little slow as they took about 3 minutes to get started. But overall this is a great place. And as a side note went to Menchie's frozen yogurt for dessert and the manager there recognize us as he was eating there as well and told us we get a 15% discount if we show our receipt from Friday Tuna. All and all a great experience!!!!

We took a late lunch that was during their HH. Sushi was very fresh & delicious! Caterpillar sushi presentation was excellent.Sat at bar & service was not very good. There were only 6 guests in at the time (3:30) and 3 servers so it should have been better. They would have sold us more drinks had they been on top of their game & the check average would have increased quite a bit. Seems to me servers/bartenders who are not the best don't understand this. I see this in the younger more inexperienced restaurant workers across the board though. So tired of it in fact that as a retired server/bartender of over 20 years, I have now started tipping accordingly .(for years i was an automatic 20+% tipper).

I would like to be able to talk about the food, but after waiting 45 minutes and still not getting our drinks, we decided to leave. We were there 30 minutes and complained twice before we even saw a waitress. I am visiting from Houston. This place wouldn't last a month there.

Great hibachi dinner! I had the chicken. Right now, they don't have their license for booze (maybe just wine and liquor), but you can bring your own wine in until they get it, with no cork fee.

By far one of the best sushi restaurants than I've been to here in Memphis. If you aren't feeling sushi they have the habachi grill which is great also. Would definitely recommend it!

I went to this sushi place for my friend's birthday. They have grilled oysters which tasted awesome, and I highly recommend it. For sushi rolls, I loved their rock & roll, soft shell crab roll. I don't eat raw fish, so I didn't try their raw fish. But all my friends loved it. I think it's the best sushi I've ever had in Memphis area.

Great stuff! A slightly Americanized Japanese restaurant. We had the Bento box & miso soup. Top notch food, service & atmosphere!

Let's start here: i love sushi. I do. I really do. I will happily spend $40 on sushi in one sitting. Here's the problem, the sushi was awful. The germantown roll had this awful texture to it. It was mushy. I thought I was going to be sick. The rock n roll just wasn't great. The only ones I kind of liked were the Lobster King and Chili roll. The chili roll just has a little wow factor. So here we were waiting on some friends. I kept trying to get the attention of our waitress (blue hair) and she was staring into space. I just wanted a drink after we had ordered water. Let's add here that my fiance's second drink apparently took 15 minutes to make. When she gave us our check, I was a little surprised the 18% gratuity had been added, since there was no reason for it to be. And she blamed her bad service on "that other table was full of b****es." Then she laughed. I don't know how she could think that was appropriate. This restaurant seemed nice and who looked like a manager looked so stressed out and he had reason to. Because this server was making a fool of the restaurant. And no I'm not saying she should change her hair or piercings. It was her ATTITUDE. The hibachi is good though. I got chicken teriyaki for lunch the next day and it was great. No more sushi from there for me though.

I went to this place for lunch with a friend today. I had been waiting on it to open and it was well worth the wait. The décor is gorgeous and you can tell no expense was spared. We had the Germantown sushi roll for an appetizer. It had a pleasant surprise on top a delicious caramelized surface,,,,,delicious. The entrée came in a sectioned off tray with a couple of surprises. The check was a delight too as it was a great value. Couple this with friendly and efficient service and you have a winner. GO you will love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Me and my boyfriend went here for lunch on a Friday afternoon. I ordered a chicken teriyaki lunch and a Snow Crab Roll. My boyfriend ordered a sushi combination lunch which had 5 pieces of different kinds of Nigiri and a California roll (you can choose a California roll or Snow Crab roll). Both of our meals came on a tray with fried rice, salad w/ginger dressing, cucumber salad with squid, and some kind of thin noodles (rice noodles?) in a dressing. He didn't like the noodles but I did. My snow crab roll came out right away. However, they brought his meal out about 10-15 minutes before mine. He tried to be polite and wait on me to get mine before he ate but I told him to go ahead because I didn't get mine till 15 minutes before I had to leave to go back to work! The food was good. Not the best ever but I would order it again, especially the snow crab roll. Some of the prices of the rolls seemed outrageously high ($14 for a lobster roll) but some are an average price. The atmosphere was pretty but I wish I had gotten my food a little quicker (don't go if you're on a lunch break or on a time limit) and the server could have come around a bit more often.

So when my friends made plans to go out to dinner without thinking of where to go, then one person shouted "Hibachi!" we decided to give this place a try. We're glad we did. The teppanyaki was tons of fun, and pretty good too. I had the lobster & filet combo, but had the opportunity to try the chicken and beef. I'll start with my over all observation, everything was a bit overcooked. I ordered medium-rare, and my filet was cooked all the way through. That kinda sucked, but oh well I moved on to my lobster and that was great! I tried some chicken and beef from my friends, and the beef again was overcooked, but the chicken was right on! Maybe the key is to order rare, none of this medium-rare we all wanted... anyway. Watching the chef put on his show while making our meal was tons of fun, our chef for the night had a great personality and really wanted us to have a good time (and leave a good tip! which we did) so we enjoyed ourselves. We ordered some beer and berry sake and had a great time while there. The rice and veggies that accompanied our meal were good, nothing was terrible, and I would probably go back to his place for another fun night of good food. I probably wouldn't order the filet again, though, just in case they over cook it. Try the chicken and tip your chef!

One of the best sushi restaurants around Cordova and Germantown area. I have been going here since it has opened and love it. If there is one negative it would be their prices. I would like them to lower their prices a few dollars on couple of items but overall a great place to eat.

I am always looking for a good sushi spot. Friday Tuna was totally built out and yet completely closed for so long that I was starting to view it as the restaurant equivalent of "vaporware". However, a couple weeks ago my friend told me that it was finally open so I had to check it out. Walking in to Friday Tuna I was immediately impressed by the decor. It may not be up some people's alley but I thought the decor was brilliant. Contemporary, super crisp and clean, it immediately sets you up for a positive experience. The service was absolutely exceptional and the hibachi area was spacious. We opted to sit at a regular table (saving hibachi for next time) and I started out with an appetizer. It was this amazingly delicious stuffed jalapeno with seafood and... man. A great way to start the meal! As I mentioned before, the service was great without being annoying. I opted to go full sushi for dinner and not only were the rolls exceptional they were delivered much more quickly than I anticipated. I had three rolls and they were all masterfully done. The rolls are more pricey than Sakura but I would say they are of a similar quality (seeing as that's my favorite sushi joint, that is high praise from me). I have to mention the sweet tea, it was great! All in all, my only complaint is that the sushi rolls are a bit high priced. That being said, they were of a quality that made the price understandable. I am excited about going back and trying out the hibachi!

This isn't my favorite sushi/asian place, but their lunch special is pretty good and is a good value. I had a 2 sushi roll special with some green tea ice cream. A nice portion for both entree and dessert. I did not particularly care for the shrimp tempura roll, the grease it was fried in had a taste to it I didn't like. Service is so so. I will be going back.

Stopped in after church for lunch - church bulletin had a coupon for 15% off food. The spring rolls and dumplings are good and freshly made. Salads were fresh as well. The lunch plates come with a variety of interesting items. They have happy hour starting at 4:00 pm. Wine selection is decent. Service was good and the servers were attentive. My wife loves the atmosphere and the relaxing music. We will be back.

Brought the family in on a Tuesday for dinner. Service was friendly and prompt. Seating was quick and the hibachi chef was out fairly quick. Hibachi chef was great and awesome with the kids. He didn't ignore them when they spoke to him (which the kids usually get ignored or bushed off with other places).Waitress was very attentive and on point! Sushi and sashimi we ordered was great and best quality I've had in the Memphis area yet. Overall: Enjoyable experience with fair prices. Not disappointed in any way with my visit.

My husband came here for a business lunch and had sushi. He enjoyed his meal and was excited to bring us back for the hibachi. The interior is very luxe - much nicer than, say, Shogun. That's about where my compliments end. Hibachi overall experience was very lackluster. Salad - blech. Dressing was a sweet mayo. The lady sitting next to me heard me say it just tasted like mayonnaise and she concurred. Nobody at our table ate their salad. The soup was fine. We ordered the crab cake appetizer and it was interesting....had that same sweet mayo sauce, only they added a touch of sriracha. The dipping sauce they give you for seafood was also that same sweet mayo sauce. They love the mayo, here, people. Our cook ambled through the motions. His "egg roll" trick failed and his volcano onion toppled over. My diver scallops were cut in half, I guess to make them go farther. It also makes them dry out quicker. Shrimp were also overcooked and rubbery. Sea bass was fishy. I'd come back to try the sushi and the oysters. I'd pass on ever eating the hibachi again. Ever.

Best sushi in memphis. We had the lobster king roll and the Las Vegas roll. Delicious. Every sushi roll we get is great. Really like the food. The steak and shrimp hibachi is good too. We try to go once a week. Love the ginger dressing on the salad.

  • Melanie L.

Wow what a nice surprise with fancy decor and stellar service! The sushi tasted very fresh and the rolls are huge! The tempura is a must try it's the crispiest and lightest I've ever had! I recommend the chicken and veggie tempura. I did think the nigiri was over priced for the serving but it was very fresh and tasty. This would be the perfect spot with company as the hibachi side was a fun show to watch!

Friday Tuna is a nice addition for the sushi lover crowd in the Memphis/Cordova area. I had a chance to dine here last night and was pleasantly surprised at the specialty rolls and menu. This venue has a nice touch of sushi, hibachi, and asian cuisine with a nice wine selection. The restaurant was very clean and spacious and the service is excellent. If you are looking for a nice sushi restaurant with a good wine selection, this is your place.

So yesterday I placed an order by phone at Friday Tuna. I called in an Aryanu Roll and chili roll. He messed up the chili roll order and made another roll. It was absolutely not a problem for me given that he was not a native English speaker. I proceeded to tip him $3 from a $30 to go order. Then I had to wait 10 additional minutes for hem to correct my order. They didn't tell me thank you or apologize about my wait/mess up. (They also didn't include the mess up order). The only reason I am giving them three stars is because the food was amazing..

    (3)
  • Rebecca L.

I don't think the food was bad. We had the las vegas roll and cordova roll which me and my bf lovee. We also had the tuna tataki and bang bang chicken. I was dissapointed with the bang bang chix since it was not as good as expected. I think pandex makes a better chix than that. The tuna tataki was okay but my bf loved it since he never had tatakis before. Service was great. We had no problem with it. It was fast and friendly. The only problem was just that there was some kind of weird smell in the restaurant when I came in that really threw me off.

New hibachi/ sushi/ oyster bar.... They have only been open about one week and typically I wouldn't try for at least the first month ... But I am glad I did. Friday Tuna has a cool contemporary vibe and decor which was nice to see. There is a combination of booths, table top, hibachi table, sushi bar, and regular spirits bar seating. They also have TV screens at the full bar which will make this a great happy hour haunt. (they will not have liquor licnse until mid-june 2013 but at this time will aloow you to byob with NO cork fee!) The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Most importantly the food ( I only had sushi) was really good, nice, and fresh. They have some creative rolls and an extensive list that is sure to appeal to anyone in the group. I will be back... I look forward to trying the oyster bar and hibachi tables. If they keep it up Friday Tuna should succeed!

Did not get a chance to eat because there was no maitre-d' to greet you. I had to stop a waitress after 10 minutes and ask a question. But I guess she was very busy and her reply was "we will sit you when there is room."

Lovely atmosphere, will be returning for sure. My husband and I shared a few things: Tuna tataki:The seasoning salt in combination with the ponzu sauce made it a bit saltier than intended I'm sure, it could use a little less salt so appreciation could be brought to the fish. Overall pretty good. Aryana roll: Tempura rolls on a cold day are just perfect , and this was one of those days. Beef Yakisoba: Was my favorite, I couldn't get enough!

It looks great inside! Now here's all the negatives. Our server didn't come by our table for about 10 minutes. Whatever we were chatting and the hostess took our drink orders. Then we realized we have been ready to order for another 10 minutes. Where the hell is she? When she shows up there are no pleasantries, just "what would you like to order?" Oh okay, have you been waiting on us? Then it takes almost thirty minutes to get the damn food. I got two rolls and my girlfriend got two rolls. Wow it must be amazing. Nope, it's just run of the mill, nothing special, typical sushi. Cookie-cutter crap you can get anywhere. One of my rolls was "gas station quality". The best thing to say about the rolls is that they were edible and at least not poisonous. Positive thinking right? Our drinks were never refilled. We did our best to pay in cash so We wouldn't have to wait another twenty minutes to get my damn credit card back. Worst of all, it seemed like every other table had this great, attentive, smiling server working her butt off! I wonder if our girl was new? My bottom line, the quality of their sushi can literally be found (and surpassed) almost anywhere so what the hell would bring me back here?

Great atmosphere, great food, great customer service and great prices pretty much sums it up. We ordered 2 sushi rolls, 2 orders of Teriyaki chicken dinner plates (each came with soup, salad and brown rice) and 2 glasses of tea for only $40. All of this was shared by 3 people and then we took home leftovers for 3 more meals. I will definitely be back to experience the Hibachi side and take advantage of the happy hour priced drinks!

This place is great. It's better than Sekisui. We had the fried crab claws, raw oysters, tuna Tataki, chili roll, and girl roll. All aforementioned were excellent including the waitress. I will definitely return.

Holy moly. I was completely blown away by the quality of the food and service we received here. This is above your average sushi and hibachi. My husband and I went for a night out - they have TVs near the hibachi which was nice because the football games were on. We had the spicy crab roll (awesome! so fresh!) and the chicken and steak hibachi. The salad and soup were phenomenal too. We will certainly be back and would highly recommend.

I have visited this location twice. The 1st time was for Happy Hour, which I wouldn't recommend...They service wasn't great and the bartender didn't even know what the specials were and when they figured it out, it wasn't great. I also visited on a Tuesday, when there is a good teppanyaki special for pretty cheap. The food and cook was amazing.

About TGI Friday

TGI Friday is a casual dining American restaurant chain founded in 1965. The term “TGI” is an acronym for Thank God It's and together the name of the restaurant is often announced as Thank God It's Friday. Over the years of its existence, the TV commercials and other advertisement streams have also twisted the phrase a bit and used it as Thank Goodness It's Friday. The restaurant serves alcoholic beverages primarily. However, they are also known for their low-carbohydrate and low-fat menu items to promote a healthy lifestyle. TGI Friday also offers gluten-free items on its menu for those with gluten intolerance.

Besides the cool name, TGI Friday also has an interesting background story of its origin. The founder of the restaurant Alan Stillman lived in a New York-based neighbourhood full of a young crowd, especially girls from the airline and fashion industry. He started the first TGI Friday restaurant in New York in the hope of meeting single women as there weren't any such public place for young men and women to meet. He invested $5000 on his own and borrowed another $5000 from his mother to buy a bar named The Good Tavern and renamed the premise to Thank God It's Friday, inspired from an expression during his time at Bucknell University.
