This was my first time coming here.. It was ok. My texas cheese fries was the best thing i ordered everythingelse was ok my burger was burned. My food was very bland. I won't be coming back. Run away from this place they need a chef & the waitress i had was very rude she was only trying to rush me so she could see if i left her a tip.... the only reason they're getting 3 stars is because of my fries......

I'm really surprised by all the negative reviews on here. It's a casual restaurant folks , that's even in the name. This is a great place to go when you're hungry and don't want to spend a fortune, two can easily eat with tax and tip for $30. The food is good, nothing special but good. I almost always get the chicken tenders and shrimp but have on occasion gotten the chicken Alfredo. For the price point the ambience is very nice. Expect a wait, it's popular, but the food comes out fast once your order. There have been service issues but I've noticed a trend that its limited to seating in the bar area so specify you don't want there. But they have also had issues with a lot of customers not tipping so perhaps the servers got in a mindset of not caring. I think too many people complained about the automatic gratuity so they removed it but come on y'all, you need to tip - not doing so is TACKY! If for some reason you feel you server does not deserve a tip then it should be an issue worthy of discussing with the manager. We went once and were about to leave after 10 minutes no one took our drink order but the manager reseated us and made it right. Our reseated server got an excellent tip from us. Seriously, if you aren't going to tip keep you cheap ass at home so this place is more enjoyable for the rest of us.

I've been here 3 times since moving to Memphis. At first I was stoked to find a place with a monte cristo sandwich, but now that I've had a couple of theses, I have decided that I really have no desire to return to this place. Service is subpar, food is OK..

This was my second time here and I will not be returning . The food was not the best , service was slow and the manager was not helpful. Save your time and money, go elsewhere !

Went here tonight for the second time. Like others, I like the decor. Also like others, I had to wait forever for the food, this time and last. And when they finally brought the food, one of my sides was missing. Then when they brought the missing side, they brought two. There were four of us and everyone liked the food. We went for someone's birthday and we had planned on getting desserts, until the waitress brought the check and thanked us for coming. I guess she didn't want us there anymore. Overall the food was good, but expect to be there a really long time and don't expect much help from the staff.

I LOVE the decor here. I love the moving fan thingymajigger in their main room. My husband loved their giant fishtank in the bar area. We ordered: Chips and Homemade Queso (with ground beef- no extra cost!) New Orleans Pasta Steak and Baby Back Ribs with corn and mashed potatoes (BBQ sauce on the side instead of cooked on it). Total WIHTOUT tip: $32 and some change. The queso was kind of small for $4 but it was still really good so I didn't mind. I really liked my pasta- packed with flavor!- but I think next time I'll ask to substitute in more sausage slices for the shrimp or the ground sausage (?) because I found I liked it better but there were only a few slices in there. Also, I just checked the menu and there was supposed to be chicken in there? I didn't get any. I got ground sausage instead. Unless it was ground chicken and I just couldn't tell??? I'm not sure. The steak was very good. I don't like steak but I liked the piece my husband let me try. He enjoyed his meal. I like the menu but I didn't see many things that personally appealed to me. Food was good but something gave my husband and I diarrhea. It's not entirely unusual for my stomach to get upset, but usually it is from spicy food and never that quickly. Also my husband rarely has any problems, so we were concerned about that. I suspect it was the queso and salsa. He said it could've been the drinks if they weren't cleaned enough. I know it wasn't my pasta as I ate leftovers of it and didn't have any problems.

Food was mediocre. Service was horrible. Waiter took our order after the appetizers were brought. Came back a few minutes later and asked if we wanted anything other than appetizers. I told him we'd already given him our orders. He left came back later without refilling my drink and brought our ticket. I reminded him of our order but said never mind. He did look through his pad and find where he'd taken our order but we left. I'll most likely not return.

The serving sizes are huge, a kids meal is something an adult could eat. It was really busy but everyone was really nice and friendly! Loved our waiter Michael! Wonderful place for family or date outing and really reasonable. Croissant rolls to die for ! Make you slap somebody lol

I have been a couple of times and the food is ok, but NOT worth the wait. The good thing about Cheddars over flowing with people is that it frees up the wait at Red Lobster a couple of doors down.

    (3)
  • Kevin W.

This is a very upscale fast food joint. The wait is long because the place is always packed. This is a fast food joint. You can tell by the prices and the quality of the food. Do not get the shrimp or steak. Keep it simple and get a cheeseburger and chicken tenders.

Cheddars has taken the low-cost casual sit-down chain to it's logical conclusion, and their excellent job of doing so is why I will never be back. The menu is full of cheap options, and the portions are quite generous. However they also seem to be full of factory-made, heat and eat food, coupled with poor service and the art of the up-sell. It's everything the low cost casual sit-down chains want to be executed so perfectly as to suck the soul out of a restaurant. The menu is constructed to make things look like a value. For instance, all the entrees come with a side, but the burgers do not. This allows them to offer a burger for under $5 with sit down service, and then up sell you $2 worth of fries or mashed potatoes. It may still seem like a bargain at $7, until you wash it down with one of the many $7-$9 margaritas they are peddling to make up the difference. Closer inspection shows many extremely cheap, but overpriced appetizers and drinks, more so than I think I've seen in any of their competitors. Service was poor, even with servers all over the place. I saw no management of any kind visible on the floor during our entire meal. I don't think our waitress checked on us once, we had to ask for drink refills and twice to get a check. But all that's a side show. What really matters at any restaurant is the food! My wife's salad showed the tell tale signs of one that came in a bag and was one day older than it should have been, but not yet bad. Not fresh, but not quite wilted. The Pot-Pie we tried came out in under 4 minutes and was not warm at all. Clearly pre baked and left on a warmer. It reminded us of an overly bland frozen pot pie from the grocery store, and I'd bet $5 it was factory made and heated in a batch at the store. We also tried the Monte-Cristo, which is a sandwich I absolutely love but also know many people get very, very wrong in some way. It's a great sandwich to use to judge a place. The menu offered a clue, the sandwich had "two cheeses". Have you ever seen a place that didn't tell you what kind of cheese? It became clear when it came out. A slice of white and yellow american that tasted vaguely like the kraft singles variety were the "cheeses". Both tasted exactly the same, doing nothing for the flavor profile. The sandwich was over breaded, and the breading itself was sweet! Most importantly, the turkey and ham inside weren't even remotely hot, the center was in fact still ice box cold. The fries I ordered with it were served in a gigantic heaping mound, enough for two plates, but were totally ordinary and unseasoned. One of the other reviewers called it an "upscale fast food joint", and I think that's hitting near the mark. However, fast food places still do compete on the quality of their food (at least with their premium menu items), and I feel like Chedders has given up on that idea completely in order to put those few pennies to "table service". There is fast food that is better than Cheddars, and if you want a proper sit down meal there are far better options for only $2-$4 a plate more near by. I just don't see the point, but if you want sit down at the absolute rock bottom place they've managed to deliver that in spades.

Cheddars was not pleasurable at all. The fiance` and I went there to try this place out. The acoustics in this place or at least the place we sat, are in need of much improvement. Our waitress was rude, dropped our food onto the table. The hostess rolled her eyes when we both asked for a booth. I am not racists by any means, but really felt like I was looked down on by our waitress. I would not recommend this restaurant at all to anybody.

I'm currently driving cross country on a budget, passed by this restaurant on my way to my hotel. When I got to the hotel I asked the lady at the front desk where I could find a nice restaurant. She quickly recommended Cheddars. When I arrived, it was 7:40pm. I was rather expecting a large crowd and the wait time to be about 10-15 minutes. But I wasn't even able to get to the host podium before the host directed me to a booth with ample view of the Wizards vs. Bulls game. That being said, the place was far from empty. Once seated the host informed me the name of my waitress, and told me she would be with me shortly. A little less than a minute later, she arrived to the booth and asked me for my drink order. Being I wasn't in the mood for beer or soda, I looked in the menu and noticed Fruit Infused Iced Teas. I simply asked her for a Strawberry Iced Tea. It was a random thought, but sure enough she brought it. And it was quite good. Being I had driven from Knoxville that day, I wasn't really in the mood for a large meal. I settled on an appetizer and a soup. More specifically the Spinach Dip and Baked Potato Soup and asked that they be served together. Within 4-5 minutes it arrived. I started with the chips and dip. Or at-least tried. The chips they served with the spinach dip were so brittle I had to use my fork to put the dip onto the chips. As for the dip, when I got it, it looked as though it had been sitting for a while. Kinda crusty. Although the fork fixed that quick with a simple mixing. Once the dip was done, I switched to the soup. Like most potato soups, this one had bacon bits and cheese sprinkled on top. I mixed it all in and took a first bite. Was good. Although personally I like a little extra flavor. I asked the waitress to bring me some hot sauce. Didn't take her long to return with some tabasco. The manager stopped by a couple of times to verify that everything was to my liking, and to ask if there was anything he could do or get me. Overall I was rather impressed with all the lower reviews of this location because my visit was no where near the experiences that are reported before me. I would recommend this location highly.

Service started out ok but our server soon turned not so pleasent when our food wasn't what we asked for. Mid well steak was sent to my husband and I as a rare steak. A order of bread took 27min. I don't think my husband and I will be back any time soon.

Somehow we said we were in a hurry, but the people behind us and those in our party who ordered after us somehow got their food first. Didn't order anything for lunch that was complicated. Food was good - chicken tenders were better than I'd seen anywhere; good fries, potato soup, Cajun pasta. Not a lot of vegetarian options but better than most.

Average food, prices could be better. It is okay for an upscale burger, but no fresh quality food here. Not living up to the hype. Read some of the other reviews for context and chose for yourself. I will give them another shot in the future.

Yes! I finally got a chance to check this place out and I'm so glad I did. The food is great, they have lots of variety. Everything I tried was really great. Now that they've been open for a while they must not seem to have an issue with long waits (or I lucked out since I went on a weeknight) because it wasn't really crowded at all while I was there. The fried chicken was great, not too heavy or anything. Their green beans are good but a little spicy. I liked them but if you don't like hot stuff, you might want to ask for a different side item. You won't even need the salt or pepper shakers, Everything's seasoned perfectly. Awesome mashed potatoes. I ended up staying so long I got dessert too. I tried the cookie sundae, it was awesome of course. They make them fresh - if you don't like your cookies really crispy, tell them you want it soft. Oh and their bacon is the best ever. I didn't get anything with bacon but I had to keep stealing some off my buddy's plate. Nice and thick and crispy, a little sweet and just a touch of spice. It's amazing. Screw the chicken and waffles, can I get bacon and waffles? Marilyn also took wonderful care of us. Super friendly and attentive. Whenever I go back I'll make a point of asking for her. Oh, and their patio looks adorable. Too bad it's too cold right now to sit out there. They have a fountain out there and everything! :)

The place has settled into normalcy from when it first opened. New places in Memphis tend to always be packed. I like the size of the portions, and the prices are in a reasonable range. The service is relatively consistently attentive and friendly. Comfort food well prepared. The bar has a lot of big screen TVs and a huge aquarium for ambiance.

They burned both of our burgers on one side and gave us so few fries it was remarkable. Waiter never asked if everything was ok.. In fact Waters weren't refilled until we were thru with our meals. Meanwhile 3 + waitstaff were always hanging around the bar joking loudly! ***Also saw bartender with his fingers all over the olives till he poked around to find the one he wanted to eat. Ugh!****

Skip it...I knew better than to even try. Crowded, gross food, blah, blah, blah... I should personally get a bad review for walking in the door.... Very nice wait staff...it must be like the twilight zone for them

We've eaten at multiple Cheddars and always left very full and satisfied. I've had the chicken tenders, sirloin steak, baked spasagna, spinach dip, and several other foods and always enjoyed it. Would recommend this to anyone. I honestly would still eat Cheddars if it was more costly, but as others have stated it is cheaper than most other similar restaurants.

I've been here three times since it has opened. The only thing it has going for it is that the food is ok. Not the greatest, however for the price and the flavor it is decent. I went with my mother and 2 year old daughter. We got there at 4pm and there was already a 25 minute wait. That would have been acceptable however quickly glancing through the restaurant showed me a lot of empty tables and wait staff standing around cracking jokes. Once seated our server (Marcus) was running around like he had hot irons on his feet. This man literally did not stop the entire time. He was pleasant and quickly took our drink order and disappeared. When we placed our app order we went ahead and told him the rest of our order to have it brought out whenever it was ready. My daughter was hungry and running low on sleep so to try to keep the peace in public I wanted to get her meal out quickly. We ordered their onion rings, my daughters chicken tenders and French fries, my mother got a Shepard's pie, and I got their Lemon Pepper Chicken all at the same time. About 30-45 minutes later my daughters chicken came out. While we were waiting I was scanning the area we were seated in. The floor below our table was dirty. I watched three tables leave. One table was immediately bussed by the wait staff, the other two were left as they were for around 30 minutes. Down the aisle from us was a bit of a secluded area in the back corner of the restaurant. In the time those tables let I watched about 4 waiters and 3 bus boys walk back there sit down and start talking, using their phones, and obviously NOT working. I don't think they were all mysteriously on break at the same time. All of them walked past these unbussed tables and did nothing. We asked our waiter why no one was doing anything when you can obviously see them doing nothing, especially the way he was running around compared to all of them. The next thing we know the manager is at our table. He looked down the aisle at the staff having a good time and then came to us to ask if there was something wrong. When the staff saw him they all IMMEDIATELY stood up and started "working" if that's what you could call it. This made it very apparent that they were not on break. My mother asked him why no one wanted to bus the tables. She stated that we can tell all of them are down there and that all of them had walked past these tables and looked at them. The manager made excuses for them saying that they were working down there and were making their way towards those tables. I'm sorry, I know that was wrong. I'm not sure why he felt the need to make excuses for them as opposed to saying we will get this taken care of, however it made me extremely disappointed. Finally about 20 minutes later we got my chicken and my mothers Shepard's Pie. (For those keeping track this is now about an hour later). We never got the onion rings, however we did get comped two orders of crescent rolls. (wahoo a grand total of 4$). We finished our food and left. Honestly the best part was as we were leaving letting my daughter go goo goo at the big fish tank they have there. All in all, it is an ok place. For our entire order it came out to 28$. Decent money for the amount of food received for three people. However, I am just horribly disappointed. It has such a potential for being a GREAT place yet the service kills it repeatedly. For one the manger knew that the staff was not working, it was just to apparent. Next it is not that hard to clean up, I've worked in the food industry, cleaning is a huge part of it. Three parts of orders should not be forgotten or over looked. My advice: 1) Do not go there on a Sunday. Besides the staff and those problems, the restaurant is full of the after church groups. This makes it extremely loud. Especially when the group sitting behind you had 12+ people in it with children that are not being watched (one of which hit me with a stick and no one said a word). 2) Do not let the people who brag this place up give your hopes up. The food is good!!! However the service you receive makes the good food sour in your mouth. 3) Obviously do not think that the managers believe that customers are right. It honestly really bothers me that he made excuses for these workers. I can't seem to let it go, this is what disappointed me more than anything else. *As a side note, I'm not a snob. I realize that getting worked up over unbussed tables seems petty, but it the principle of the thing. Had they been swamped of obviously busy to the extreme then understandable. However, when I can obviously see that the staff is having plenty of time to stand around, laughing, and just having a jolly time, then there is plenty of time to stop and DO YOUR JOB!!!!

Never again! I have been there 3 times, first time was when it first opened and it was a good experience. The third time I went there was yesterday for my birthday & I was so disappointed. The wait time was 30 minutes for the 3 of us, that's okay I guess when comparing it to other restaurants. But I noticed a lot of free booths that weren't being used, about a third of the restaurant. Apparently they were closed & it made me wonder why. My guess is that they didn't have enough waiters (or maybe they were being cheap & didn't want to hire any more), I don't know. So we finally sit down, we order 3 drinks of which 2 were meant to have no ice. The waiter in my opinion was not that professional, and he seemed to have his hands full cause he was dealing with a lot of tables by himself (going back to my point of free booths and not enough waiters). Because of this he kept messing up. So 2 of us who said no ice got our drinks, with ice in them. My third friend didn't get his drink until after the food arrived. We kept reminding our waiter and finally when he brought the food we told him that we were still missing one drink. His excuse was that "they are pouring it right now", how long does it take to pour a drink? So my friend and I both ordered the same food & we were meant to get an 11oz steak. When he brought the food we could clearly see that one was much smaller then the other. On top of that, they were both cold. They reheated our steak but they were still cold on the inside. When I said something to the waiter he said that they had been cooked earlier but since they weren't bad they were warmed up and brought to us for our meal. Seriously!! Really!!! I should have said something to the manager at this point. The waiter was too busy to give us the proper attention we deserved as guests. Since it was my birthday, I didn't pay for the meal, however, if I was paying, I would really feel inclined to NOT give them a tip. A tip should be for good service, their service was a big zero. And the food was nothing special either. Not worth the wait if you ask me. I think the reason it attracts customers is because of the price. Their is another Cheddars on Germantown Parkway, if you really want to go to Cheddars in Memphis then go to that one. Otherwise, I'll stick to my Longhorn Steakhouse thank you very much.

What a great experience and a great meal! While visiting some friends in Memphis they suggested we try to eat at Cheddar's. I was all for it since I had never been and I had no idea what it was. I looked up the menu and knew there were some things I wanted to try! We went for lunch on a Friday. I was told that it was a new restaurant in the area and that would explain the massive amount of people located inside, outside, and in the parking lot. It was packed! I went inside and got a pager and I was told it would be about a 40 minute wait for a table of 4. I guess that wasn't terrible. I was just really confused because it was a Friday! Why weren't people at work? Don't people work anymore? I was on a vacation and so I didn't really care. I think we ended up waiting about 25 minutes and then our pager went off! Yes. It was time to sit and eat. When we arrived at our table the server came over right away. She was in training and new to being a server. There was another server there as well who was from another store helping these servers get acquainted to the menu items as well as serving expectations. They were both pretty awesome! I am glad we had some nice people; this made the experience so much better. We ordered drinks and my friend and I ordered salads with croissants! The salad was fine and the croissants were delicious! I love croissants with honey, I make them at home all the time! They were so gooey and delicious. My friends and I had looked over the menu and we were ready to order. I ordered the Hawaiian Chicken sandwich with fries. The chicken was so moist and delicious. I can tell they really know hot marinate and grill chicken at Cheddar's. I love fries and these were crispy and cooked just right. The other girls at the table had everything from grilled chicken, shrimp, and I think steak. There was even rice as a side as well as veggies. Everything at our table was made just right. No complains at all. The food was all so good. I was really impressed overall and can't wait to go back! I know when a restaurant first opens the service and food is always made to impress; I really hope this location can keep up the good work!

A nice big, friendly place with lot's of staff. While I wasn't impressed with their Tortilla Chicken soup, the steamed vegetable plate was ample and tasty. I go back just to try some of their other selections.

I had heard that the portions were huge and the food was good, so two co-workers and I went to try it out today. The prices were reasonable. The portions were decent. The food was decent- not spectacular, but decent. I'd bypass the veggie plate unless you want canned corn, frozen carrots, and luke warm "steamed" veggies. Service was minimal- prompting two stars instead of three. One of our salads was forgotten. At the end of the meal every dish and glass that had reached our table was piling up- no clearing whatsoever. Everything was slow-going and for a business lunch it made us a little cramped on time. I might go back, but I doubt I would wait for as long as other reviewers have commented.

Went here with a group of friends and we were all disappointed in the service and the food. I ordered the basic chicken tenders with fries, if i remember correctly it does not take 45 minutes to make that. Service was very slow, waiters were okay. 1 star for the aquarium

Been waiting to go to the being built in Cordova TN but couldn't wait any longer and went to this one. What a mistake. We had to wait about 40 minutes and there were plenty of other as well all in the doorway in the lobby, aisle and along wall by fish tank. When finally got seated all of our mouths in my party dropped due to there being at least 20 available tables empty. At no surprise for this town they were short staffed. The onion rings came out undercooked full of grease and cold. My daughter went and found napkins and little serving dishes for the appetizers. The bar took too long getting drinks so I canceled my "Painkiller". The Monte Cristo was a disappointment especially if you ever had the on at Bennigan's, mash potatoes cold, broccoli casserole scary at looks, was trying to figure out what was on top of it and when concluded they tried to crumble regular saltine crackers on top. Use breadcrumbs and some parmesan cheese next time. Our waiter was great and had the personality because he had nothing but large parties. The back staff walking through restaurant cursing, looking crazy, and all those damn tattoos. And when do you go to a restaurant and there is armed security walking around. The front staff also could have controlled those waiting a little better.

Negative stars should be an option. With all respect to Mandie M (who is obviously a smart Elite Yelper), I have to wonder if here visit and subsequent review of the Cheddars Casual Cafe in Memphis was there result of either: 1) Casual Drug Use 2) A night of incredible Binge Drinking 3) The result of duress and a forced review at gunpoint (As for point 3, please remember this is Memphis, so that is not so far fetched. I can say that because I live here and I am a realist) My visit was the complete opposite of hers. I have never had a worse experience at a restaurant ever. I mean EVER. I went for a business lunch with friends today. Incredibly, the place was packed. There were several hard working servers. Unfortunately, our server was the most incompetent and lazy individual that has attempted to be employed. The fact that he was even allowed to stay after today speaks volumes for the management of the restaurant and their longevity in the business. It took 10 minutes before my party was acknowledged to just get water. We were allowed to order water, but it did not come to the table until 25 minutes after our arrival. We placed orders. After 50 minutes, our server returned to tell us our order had been knocked over, so we needed to order again. Of course we turned to the manager. The manager determined the server lied and had lost our ticket. Well too bad for us. I was way past my ability to tolerate incompetence. Nothing in Cheddars was worth me spending additional time or any of my money. Cheddars is a chain based from Texas. Try another location far removed from Memphis. As for me, I am one and done. Like Kentucky Basketball recruits. This place, in fact the chain, is dead to me. If you want to try it, and listen to Mandie, please do it soon. While the newness attracts crowds, instances like this will soon drive them away. My prediction: A very short life in the Memphis Business Directory for Cheddars. Memphis has great food in many places. Nothing is worth the frustration you will experience at Cheddars. Pass on by...

Went there for the second time today - both times with a group between 6 and 8 people for a business lunch/meeting. The first time, it was to welcome a new team member to our group and we visited the restaurant right after it opened. We didn't have to wait long and were promptly seated but the the experience went quicky downhill from there. The drinks didn't come for almost 15 minutes, the food took more than 45 minutes. When we did get our food, it was luke warm and didn't look fresh. Because I had ordered Salmon, I was too afraid it was spoiled sitting out and cooling off so opted not to eat it. Needless to say, what should have been a casual luncheon turned into a 1.5 hour adventure leaving most of hungry due to terrible food and service. The second visit occured several month after they opened on Boss' Day. Because our boss wanted to go there, althoug we cautioned him about the initial experience, we gave this establishment another try. When we arrived, the host at the front table told the waitress "just get them seated to clear this area". Apparently, WHERE and WHEN we wanted to be seated was of no concern to this man. The waitress showed us to an area in the middle of the restaurant with several little tables under a bunch of fans. I told her that it was Boss' day today and that we all would like to sit together. We asked her if we could put the tables together....she said this was not an option. Now, I have NEVER been in a restaurant where the management didn't at least make an effort to accommodate the group. So, we were seated at two small tables, apart from one another and I decided to go talk to the host. I explained to him that we would really like to sit together, especially on Boss day when we're taking our group leader out for lunch. He told me "we're not that kind of restaurant where we just move tables". He also said they have two large tables that *could* accommodate us, but because we came too late (apparently our fault as customers) we aren't getting that table so - too bad, so sad. I was furious and have never experienced anything along these lines nor has anyone ever talked down to me like this as a customer. Had this been a personal visit I would have left immediately but because this was a business luncheon I stayed. Every restaurant I've ever been in has ALWAYS tried their best to accommodate groups....Cheddar's isn't one of them. The food was mediorce at best and luke warm again - I had the lunch combo (baked potato, club sandwich, ceasar salad) and the potato was overcooked and dry as a bone. We ordered dessert as a group but the waitress forgot to put in our order. We'd already paid when she finally brought it out to us so the service was no better than the first time if not worse. If you read this, please note that they do not take reservations, they will not accommodate larger groups and they charge 15% gratuity on ALL checks, no matter the size of your party. There are far better restaurants in Memphis with far better wait staff and friendlier service. Skip this one, save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else.

My date and I were seated quickly, and that was where the pleasantries stopped. The floors were extremely dirty - food and trash out in the open, where customers were having to step around it just to navigate the restaurant. Table and menus were sticky and grimy. We sat for 25 minutes with no one even speaking to us. Several servers walked right past us and made eye contact, and no one thought to ask if we had been waited on yet. After 15 minutes we asked someone to find us a server. They replied they would and walked off. We weren't spoken to again. At the 25 minute mark, we finally just left, to the incredulous and disapproving stares of the hostesses. I wish I could review the food, but seeing as how most of it was on the floor and never near our table, I really can't. It looked like run of the mill American food, like an under performing Applebee's. Definitely won't be back. Place hasn't even been open for a year, and currently rocking a sub-2 star rating on yelp? Definitely don't give it a second thought.

It has been impossible to get into this restaurant since it opened due to long lines. I never thought it was good enough to wait over an hour for. So we didn't. One Saturday, we had eaten breakfast and missed lunch and both of us were hungry late in the afternoon. This seemed like a perfect time to give them a try. So we showed up at about 4:30. We were told it would be a 15 to 18 minute wait. The front door is right beside the bar so we said Fine, we'll have a drink while we wait. Well the bar area also has a bunch of tables and booths, at the time, all of them empty. So we asked the obvious question, Could we get served in the bar? Apparently not. They were not serving people who sat themselves in the bar area, but would serve people who were seated in the bar area. Didn't make a lot of sense to me, but the wait was short and I had a beer. But PD thought there was something wrong in this and asked again. A waitress heard the question and said, Come on, I'll seat you and then I'll serve you. No problem, extra points for enthusiasm. The menu is pretty extensive, but it still did not have anything interesting as appetizers. We each opted for a soup with our main course. Had time for another round of drinks before the food carrying children brought our main course. We asked about our soups, but these children were clueless. Just then our waitress did show up and thye children scurried off quickly, obviously relieved that they did not have to do anything about the non-soups. The waitress asked how good our food was; we pointed out that our soups were missing. She offered then to run and get them, but at that point we declined. We had our which were pretty good. we decided to split a desert to make up for the missing soups, obviously a healthy choice. We had the monster cookie which consisted of an almost cooked chocolate chip cookie covered in sauce and ice cream. Again, right up there on the OK meter. Some general things we noticed: - the food prices are pretty good, lower than prices for similar food in other chains. - the servers are pretty disorganized and not very professional. We have some favorite sayings to denote confusion and disorganization, but they would get my review pulled. - the food is not worth the wait.

Alrighty... lets lay it on the line. Cheddar's is a big BIG disappointment. I actually urge you NOT to go. First of all, im upset that they have wasted valuable property in a poppin location for, for, that mess. I thought they would have brought something new to the area, but its same ole'same ole'. Secondly, can we say slow! My party sat at least 10 minutes before we were even greeted. Not water, no nothing!!! Moving on to the next violation.... I ordered a drink...tasted good but as i began to sip it for the third time, i noticed my glass was FILTHY!!! OMG! I could have vomited right then and there! I mean my glass had a milky white substance all over the steam. The rim of the glass had lipstick and residue from the last drink served...just down right dirty! When i mentioned it to my server...guess what she said .."yeah I saw that". What!!!! In short, I am warning the public... Beware! Cheddars is in violation.

I don't get it, AT ALL! I have visited Cheddars on 3 occasions since the opening last year. Each time was worst than the previous. 1st Time: We had waiter who was new, this was about 3 months after the initial opening. It was not the new guy who was so much a problem (I am totally fine with someone who is new that is not getting it right) but it was his trainer who was a total bitch. The food was below average, and we were overcharged. 2nd Time: Hostess was great! Again, we had another waitress who was not serving up anything but a bad attitude. I was so over Cheddars at this point and had swore I would never return. That is until a family member decided to have a get together there which leads me to... 3rd Time and the worst time: Keep in mind, I have to be at work at 4:00. We arrive a little after 12:30 pm on a Sunday. Each time I have ever gone, the wait has been ridiculously long. But I figure getting there at 12:30 should allow just enough time to for me to do the little get together and make it to work. It's after 1:45- going on 2 and we have yet to be seated. My aunt goes and speaks with someone and we are finally seated 15 minutes later. The waitress comes around and takes are drink orders, and by that time we all knew what we wanted to order so orders were placed at this time as well- I ordered chicken nachos, my fiancé ordered chicken strips or whatever they call them there. I could tell by how long it took for our drinks to come out that food was not showing up anytime soon, so I requested that my fiancé's and I food be boxed up ASAP and be bought out with the check. To which our waitress obliged. It's right at 3 our food arrives bagged and boxed as requested, cool just enough time. My fiancé pulls out his wallet to pay the check right away, however our waitress has disappeared. We wait for her to return, but she doesn't. And of course by this time I am really watching the clock. 3:27 we take matters into our own hands. My fiancé and I grab our food and our ticket and head to the bar to pay. We tell one waiter we see that we need to pay immediately, he hands us off to the bar tender who just looks lost as hell. The bar tender tells us that we would have to deal with the manager. Ok, where is the manager? He points to some chick sitting at the corner of the bar. He goes and gets her. She, ladies and gents, tells us to wait. Wait? Wait! This is the part where shit got real, and I got ratchet! We were absolutely not about to wait any longer than we already had. We finally made it out of there around 3:40ish. And we will never be returning. And oh no... does not end there. I got my nachos, but we don't know whose food it was my fiancé got.

My girlfriend and i have been trying this Cafe since it opened.Every time we drive by it's crowded. So we decided to go on father's day.We had a party of eight with us.We had to wait forty five minutes for a table.I'm skeptical of wait staffs who have big parties.Normally you don't get good service. But on this day we had a good waitress. Didn't take long after we sat that she took our drink orders, and asked if we wanted any appetizers. Also she made sure our drinks were refilled. What i liked was the manager came out to our table to tell us that our food would be out shortly. I ended up having the fish tacos with french fries. The tacos came with a spicy sauce that was really good. From the looks of the menu items to me all the food is reasonably priced. The bill total between me and my girlfriend came to $20.95.I would recommend this casual dining to anyone.Just be prepared to wait.

Like a nice Raffertys or american version of Olive Garden, a step up from Applebees. Wait can be long, we had to wait until party was all there. They could only have 8 total at a table (with no connecting tables, etc. nearby). So big groups might be problematic. Food was good for a chain restaurant and surprisingly cheaper than I expected. Besides that nothing truly stood out or would make me want to take my chances with crowds again. Get there early (like 11:00) is plan on going here.

My cousin and I were out shopping and decided to do lunch here. We were seated right away but our waiter had to clean off out table. The food was good the waiter was great but before they started seating guest they should've cleaned first.

I remember when this place first opened! Even though the wait would be for almost 2 hours and the service being not so great I still would come about once a week. The food is really good! I love good food! I guess everybody has had there fair share, because the wait isn't long anymore. I keep here the other night for a business meeting. The service was better than normal, but could have been better. The waiter would forget about us from time to time, but he also would apologize so not bad. I ordered my usual...Bourbon glazed salmon with the broccoli cheese casserole (to die for)and buttered corn. I am one of those people that find something they like and stick with it...but don't get me wrong I am opened to other things. I also tasted the spinach dip for the first time....I got two words for it JAW DROPPER! The food gets 4 stars!

I frequent the Cheddar's chain whenever I get the chance; however, I had the worst experience at this particular restaurant. First, my dinner guests and I had to wait an unreasonable amount of time just to be seated. After ordering appetizers, 45 minutes had passed, and the waitress returned claiming she had got into a verbal altercation with the cook; apparently, the cook produced a poorly created dish and she had refused to give it to us. We resolved ourselves to then order just entrees--this was perhaps the most underwhelming moment of the entire experience. After our dishes arrived, I was immediately disappointed with the taste, texture, and presentation. Clearly the dishes were not fresh and, in particular, my grilled salmon had the composition of beef jerky. Needless to say, 2 of the 4 dining patrons, myself included, promptly returned our dishes. I will not be returning to this Cheddar's. Ever.

This is a typical chain restaurant but I'm giving 4 stars because the staff was so nice last night! There are quite a few restaurants very nearby and the service at most of the chains is generally lacking. But as soon as I opened the door I received big smiles and friendly greetings from the staff. Our server was pleasant and attentive. We stayed longer than usual as I was catching up with a friend I hadn't seen in awhile. The server continued to check in but good way. I would recommend a visit just based on the friendly staff. A real standout in the Winchester Road area.

This is one of our favorite restaurants. However on this trip there.. We had to wait for about 20 mins to be seated. No big deal. Then we got to our table, and our server never came. We sat for 15 minutes. Nobody asked us if we've been helped, employees passed us at made eye contact with us and kept walking. So we grabbed a server and asked for a manager. That took 15 more minutes with still no manager in sight. So we got up to leave and notice the manager in the bar. We had to wait to speak to him then. We were also told there was 4 managers on the floor. Service was awful and we will now take our business to the Germantown location.

Did this Cheddar's undergo a management change or something? My last experience here was immensely better than visits of the past, which had gotten so bad in service that I was reluctant to come back and only did so because my girlfriend was craving this place. We were greeted in a friendly manner by the hostess and promptly seated, and were immediately greeted by our server. He was exceptionally friendly and attentive throughout the meal, which is a huge departure from the treatment we received in the past. The food came out quickly and accurately, and everything was fantastic. The food was already a great value here, and this visit has me hoping that the service has changed for the better for good; I'll be back in the near future.

Food quality is excellent and portions are massive. The chicken tenders are amazing and the pot pie was to die for. With the good comes the bad.... The service at this location is lousy. I don't mean bad I am talking airline delay bad. One in our party did not get to eat until most were finished. The bill was wrong several times and sadly this is a known fact about this place

Ok, I hope that the readers dont think I have a personal vendetta on this review toward Cheddars but this place to me is horrible. It is extremely overrated and I will never visit this place again. If I could give this place a negative star rating I would but for the sake of rating, I will give them 1-star (and that is being nice). Let me start off by saying, I've been to Cheddars at least 3 times. Each time I've gone, I walked out feeling cheated and hungry. The waiters and service here is bad. It took them forever to bring my food out each time that I visited. When I say long, it took at least 40 minutes each time. The first visit it took them over 50 minutes to bring out chicken tenders and there were only 5 in my party. The food was below average. The first time I went I had chicken tenders and it tasted like fast food, dry, no flavor tenders. The fries were just ok. The second time I visited I had fish with rice. The rice was very dry, the fish had little to no seasoning and tasted bland, and the broccoli was very cold. The last visit absolutely did it for me. The chicken alfredo pasta with broccoli was disgusting. The pasta was luke warm with what looked like a "glob" of old cheese used on the alfredo. On my last visit, I was treated to the meal so I didn't pay. I wouldn't want anyone to pay for a meal like this and I wanted them to get their money back. Even if someone is treating, I will never go back here.
