Fantastic but tiny restaurant. The food served here is always fresh and hot... I mean hot -- I burned my hand once eating a gyro right after they gave it to me. I have been here over a dozen times, and I am always satisfied after I leave. Not only are their meals a great value, but they are also delicious. There are other locations where you can get a gyro in Memphis, but, in my opinion, I like this one the best. Their lamb is always good, and every meal has been of the same caliber of quality. The portions are very substantial, and one gyro with fries and drink is more than enough. They do charge for drink refills,so be aware of that. The Castle platter is enormous and way too much meat for one person, so don't get it if dining alone. The restaurant itself is tiny. It definitely cannot accommodate a party of people greater than 5 or 6. They have a few outdoor tables, but why would anyone want to sit outside during a Memphis summer or winter. Be prepared to take your food to go. The owners keep the dining area clean, and you are responsible for busing your own trash. Castle is an excellent place to have a good meal at a great price. You will feel you have gotten your money's worth at the end. The service is excellent despite being a fast food-type restaurant, and the dining area is immaculate. The only item on their menu that I have had that is a little disappointing is the Philly Cheese sandwich, but overall they have an impressive business that I hope continues to serve Memphis for a long time.

Great gyro. Locally owned and operated. The food is fresh and vibrant. I highly recommend the gyro!

Stupid good food. Owner is super nice and does a great job. Please note the heavy use of garlic and no, it would not be a good place for a date! I would say some items to try but it is all good and I would recommend anything on the menu. Even the fish sammy. They are known some for their burgers and they are very good as a hangover helper.

I'm not sure I dig what's going on at Castle. Sometime between my previous review and now, Castle was absorbed by some sort of fried chicken/fried fish joint. At first, they had some of the best food in Memphis at some of the cheapest prices in town. Unfortunately, I don't think that is the case any longer. Let me be clear: they still serve the best gyro in town. But they seem to be declining in quality. And they also seem to be adept at cutting corners. The packaging seems to be getting smaller each time i visit. You used to order a combo and it would come in a Styrofoam container. Now, the gyro is wrapped on one end with foil and the other end with wax paper, and the fries come in a boat with more wax paper on top? Can a brother get a container?! Also, what was once a ridiculously cheap lunch has increased dramatically in price. The "garden-fresh" veggies I spoke of? More often than not you get the butt end of the tomato and wilted lettuce. Today, I ate my gyro in all black so i could mourn the passing of a good friend.RIP, 4 star Castle. I wish the old Castle would come back and blow my socks off like they once did.

From what I read on Yelp, I was really expecting this place to blow me away with fantastic falafel but I was sorely disappointed. I ordered a falafel combo with fries and it was "meh" at best. The fries were probably better than the sandwich, and that's just miserable. I was still hungry and I wanted to stop eating. I prefer to be stuffed and still want to continue to eat because the food is so good. This was a trainwreck. The falafel was dry. We're not talking like mild dryness either. This thing was like eating sand (complete with the grainy texture.) It was wrapped in some sort of tortilla instead of a traditional pita (yuck) and there was something in there that I couldn't figure out--is it a pickle, or a really long roasted pepper? Either way, it didn't belong there. It also had tomatoes, lettuce, and cilantro. Wtf is cilantro doing in my falafel? Where is the feta? The cucumber? At least some hummus! I don't even like hummus but that would've been preferable to barren dryness. I had to ask for tzatziki and then spread it on each bite to get it down. The tzatziki was also disappointing. It was somewhat bland. The whole thing was rather bland, except for the kick of garlic at the end. The falafel had no depth at all. It was such a disappointment. Was it worth the 7.08 I paid for it? Probably, given the amount of food. Will I ever go there again? No. I don't know what everyone else is talking about. The service is good, but that's the only thing complementary I have to say about the whole place.

I have made two visits and I must say I am impressed. On my first visit I had the Shish Kabob sandwich. Very tasty and the wrap was laid on the griddle to toast it to a perfectly crisp exterior, with fresh and flavorful ingredients on the inside. On my second visit I tried the Gyro and a piece of Baklava. The Gyro was huge tasty and very fresh and less than $4. Baklava nuked for a few seconds was sticky and sweet just as baklava should be. Castle is very clean and the staff is friendly. Why anyone would eat at Pita Cafe with Castle Restaurant less than a block east is beyond me.

We were sitting around the office looking for somewhere new to try for lunch and this place popped up in our searches. I got a gyro sandwich combo and it was amazing. This is probably the best gyro I've had in Memphis. I really wish I'd learned about this place sooner. The gyro meat is cooked on the traditional spindle and then seared on the grill right before being served. It really brings out the flavors of the meat. We went around lunch time and it was packed. There are only a few tables inside, and a couple outside under umbrellas. We were able to find a place at a counter top to sit and eat our gyro's, but I would recommend getting there early if you want to eat in. The restaurant is very clean inside; even during the busy lunch hour, it was spotless. I can't wait to go back and try something else. If your a fan of Mediterranean food, give this place a shot, it's well worth it.

Caste Restaurant is kind of odd. It not only sells Mediterranean cuisine, but it also makes fried chicken. Like, the big sign above the door on the outside advertises that it's a fried chicken shack, but if you look closely, a small, thin sign says, "Castle Restaurant." Seems like some strange restaurant identity crisis. Now, before I get all psychological up in here, I'll talk about my experience. I don't know how the dining in experience is, but I recently got an order of falafel and hummus for take-out. Service was prompt and the woman behind the counter was very nice. The food? Well, I had mixed feelings. I loved the falafel; it's the best I've had, period. I will certainly be returning for that! However, the hummus left much to be desired. It was kind of bland, and the pita bread that came with it was very limp/thin, so scoopin' the hummus was kind of difficult. Maybe I came on an off-day for the hummus maker. I'll try it again for sure. For now, though, I will just tell you to get the falafel and skip the hummus. :)

The food is always consistently delicious and plentiful. The restaurant is spotless and so is the bathroom .Try the combination meat plate, you will be blown away! A heaping plate of chicken, gyro meat and kafta...so tasty with the right amount of spices and a side of that super "middle eastern aïoli". The food is much better than Casablanca and Al-Rayan and great value.

This is the best falafel & gyro in Memphis. The ingredients are fresh and everything is made from scratch. Very affordable, too! The babaganoush is really fantastic. Super friendly staff.

A great blend of American and Middle Eastern cooking. They give sandwiches a kick. My mom loves the joint.

Since being in Memphis for the past 6 months, we have been to this small eatery more than any other restaurant. One reason is that it is close to work. The other is that is a terrific place to grab a bite to eat. The menu is simple but the food is consistent and the flavor is excellent. One must order at the counter and then the food is brought to your table. The woman who cooks and runs the place is always there and is very sweet. The platters are served with rice or bread. The selections of Gyros, Kofta and Chicken are hearty and delicious. They also have a combination plate if you cannot decide. There is a very small side salad included as well. We often order the salads which are salads topped with chicken or gyros meat. the portion is large so be careful about ordering sides. We are leaving Memphis for the Summer and will miss this place. Give it a try.

One of the best gyros in Memphis. It is tiny, so arrive early to eat in or call in an order to go.
