We order take out from this restaurant a lot! We love it! I suggest the house fried rice, and try a couple of their sushi rolls! They're actually pretty good!

LOVE this place! I'm obsessed with Hibachi and this place was not only fun and delicious, but super affordable (not to mention in a great part of town!) Our server was awesome! My wine glass had a little smudge on it and the bartender saw me from across the dining room wiping it and before I even had a chance to take a sip, he was pouring it into a fresh wine glass for me. I jokingly asked our server to box my leftovers for me and he did! The chef was funny and friendly and we overall had an amazing time celebrating a friend's birthday.

I strictly come here for the sushi and sushi chef -Jimmy. Jimmy works Tuesdays-Sundays- that's how much I come here. 20 yrs experience and the coolest guy you ever wanna talk to. Don't get me wrong the other food is great Chinese & Japanese- but I come here for the sushi.

Zero stars. Will never go back. Time and time again with terrible service, inaccurate orders and completely uncaring staff. No service recovery despite numerous attempts to alert personal of poor performance. Staff made scene in front of customers upon confrontation of problems. Have been a customer for the past 17 years and will NEVER go back or recommend this place to anyone

I know hibachi restaurants like the back of my hand (thanks to my years of experience working in one) and A-Tan is definitely an over-looked gem. I ordered the scallops, which (unlike ANY other hibachi restaurant in the Memphis area) came with 10 huge pieces, a side of noodles, a large side of fried rice , a soup, and a salad. These huge portions and great pricing can't be beat elsewhere , plain and simple. Oh and did I mention that they have a Chinese section, as well as a sushi bar for anyone who doesn't want hibachi? Try them out!

I have a habit of ordering way too much food at Asian establishments to try a lot of different things. This way you can get a pretty good idea of the place in one stop. I tried sushi, soups, apps, and main dishes at A Tan. Nothing was bad but nothing was above just OK. Everything was average at best. Not trying to kill the place but I've never thought again about eating here. Would not tell you not to go but would not tell you to go either.

A-tan has long been one of my favorite Asian places in Memphis. They are not only flavorful, but fresh. The daily lunch specials are hard to beat. The sushi (which you may order on either the Japanese side or the Chinese side) has never failed to satisfy my sushi cravings. Also, the sushi happy hour is a good deal (Monday-Thursday) it also offers two-for-one saki! (watch out for that.) as for take-out, the house fried rice is a great choice. All the soups are good, yes, they even have clear and miso. The owner always makes a point of saying hello. It's clean and well priced. Or even try the hibachi, if you're in to that kind of thing. The only thing that bothers me is the Asian lady who talks to the (predominantly) Latino wait staff as if they were plow animals. She really needs to chill. But, if you haven't gone, try it. It's a nice, sit-down restaurant that you'll surly enjoy.

Feel like a bowl of won ton soup with your sushi? Well at A-Tan, you can have it. One side of the restaurant is Chinese, the other Japanese. And to my knowledge, this is the only place in Memphis where you can get both. And both are very good. I especially like their sushi. They have a huge list of very creative, and beautifully presented rolls, nigiri and sashimi. Personally, I say pass on the sashimi platter. It's a bit pricey for the small amount you get. But the rolls are awesome. So is the won ton soup. :)

I've been eating at A-Tan for years, and I've always been a fan of their yummy Chinese food- General Tso chicken, shrimp fried rice, wonton soup, Mongolian beef are just a few favorites. And I still opt for their Chinese sometimes (especially when I'm in the mood for take-out), but recently, A-Tan opened a Hibachi grill. Cue the hallelujahs. I looove A-Tan's Japanese side (Chinese food on the left of the restaurant and Hibachi on the right). My husband and I always grab a couple of sushi rolls at the bar while we're waiting to be seated. Why we think we need an appetizer before the massive amount of food we're about to be served, I don't know. The seating at the Hibachi grill is always so much fun, and we always try to meet everyone seated with us so that we can enjoy the experience that much more. The dinner begins with soup and salad, and then it's on the good stuff. Lobster, chicken, shrimp, steak- it's so hard to choose. My girls delight in watching the chef tossing utensils and starting those little blazing fires on the grill. First, you'll be served rice (steamed or fried), veggies and then on to your meat entree. The sauces are so good I could eat them alone, but coupled with the food, it's pure heaven. Finish it off with green tea ice cream if you dare. Then go home and sleep off your food coma.

I've gone here at least 3 times. Twice in the normal restaurant section and once in the Habachi section. Personally, I enjoyed the normal restaurant food the best. The atmosphere is quiet and peaceful and the food is always very good. The sushi is also pretty good. The Habachi part is fun and entertaining (the chefs are nice and will usually pull out all the stops if you're interested in interacting and watching). The food itself for Habachi is a bit on the bland side, which is why I like the normal restaurant better. But I think both are something everyone should experience at least once.

This is probably going to be our new Sushi hang-out in Memphis. The Sushi was good and the service was fast and friendly. My wife and I are more Americanized Sushi eaters so we like all the interesting creative rolls. Probably not traditional. Plus we like fried rice. This place has both and they're both good (So was the hibachi). We were the only ones at the table and the chef still put on a show for us. Nice guy. Take what you will from that. PEACE!
