Five stars are VERY hard to get out of me, but this little family owned restaurant that just opened up in Franklin is absolutely FANTASTIC. The sushi was absolutely fresh and very generously cut, and the spicy tuna hand roll is one of the best I've ever had. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Pho...it is a family recipe and is just outstanding. Love this place!

I'm so happy this place is there. The variety and types of different offerings make this a regular for my lunch outings. I'm lucky cause its close. Everything I've tried is great but my favorite is the Red Curry. I want to try everything on the menu, but most times I go with my fav. Every time I go I notice that more people are finding out about this place. There are good reasons for that. Franklin/Coolsprings area is very competitive restaurant area and if your not good, your gone. This place will be around for a long time.

My boyfriend has been so excited to take me to this place because it's his hole in the wall place he loves going to before we started dating. I am happy to say that this place does exceeds expectations of an Asian. Even though the place mostly consists of Thai workers, these people know how to make some great sushi. The fish is fresh and the rice is just right. We also shared the Thai fried rice and it was just as great as my Thai aunt's fried rice. The right amount of spices were put into it and raw veggies were served on top. We got combination meat and it was a great serving of meat and rice ratio. To top things off, they had Thai iced tea and knew how to make it. If it's one thing you need to try its that: iced tea with condensed milk

An awesome place to eat Thai! To keep I short and sweet - Portions are large, curry and sushi were equally tasty and spice was on par, and the super friendly waitress gets all the stars. I'm super pleased with one exception - soft drinks come from the little bottles at $1.75 a bottle. Skip it and go healthy with water + lemon/lime. I will be back in the future!

This is my second time I have been here. I am traveling for work and eat Thai wherever I go. I have had a lot of Thai! And always get the red curry with tofu as hot as they'll make it! This has by far been the best red curry I have ever had. I knew it the first time I had it but just thought I was super hungry, but no this is awesome! I can only speak for the red curry but if it's the best I've had I would assume the rest of the menu would follow. Only downfall, they do not accept Amex. Won't keep me from going every time I'm in town though!

Hands down the best Thai spot I've been to in the metro area. I just moved to Nashville a few months ago and I have found the Asian cuisine here to be lacking. On a whim, I decided to try Zushimaki and was definitely happy that I did. I had the pad thai (my benchmark dish - if they mess that up, there's no hope for the rest) and Tom Kha soup. I found the Tom Kha soup on the sweeter side - not offensive, but didn't blow me away. The service was ok - but they could use a few extra servers to ensure more timely coverage.

Great food! Great location! Great Service! It's my favorite sushi Resturant on 96. Just stop in and have a great meal while the traffic dies down. The head home happy

THIS is where you go for sushi in Franklin. SO good! You have to try the pho as well. We always really enjoy the food quality and the service.

A little gem in the burbs. Best Thai food in Franklin. On the south side of the 96, in the Publix shopping center, 'round the corner from Publix. A little hidden. Once you find it, you won't forget it. Our new (only?) favorite neighborhood spot. Good Sushi and sashimi. Surprise appearance of a bowl of "pho" on the menu. Huh? Turns out, it's actually the Thai version which is called "gwaey thieow." And delicious. The difference is the broth has a more pronounced licorice from the anise and is a bit sweeter and fattier. Really, really good. A must try. I wouldn't compare it to Vn Pho Deli's pho--they're just different and both have their charms. We have had the pad kee maow (drunken noodles), lard na (noodles in brown gravy), massaman curry (Southern Thai curry), and Vietnamese egg rolls. All were very good. Great balance of flavors. Excellent execution. Instead of asking for your noodles spicy hot, do the thing you would do in Thailand, which is to ask for the spice tray and doctor it to your liking. The sushi is not just respectable but downright good. My boys are sushi snobs and they both love this place. Fresh. Tasty. Yes. I'm in Franklin TN. Pinch me. The portions are generous and two can eat from one dinner entree. Value is good. Not cheap but then I don't seek out cheap b/c that means cheap ingredients hidden by volumes of food. Still might have cheap ingredients with higher price tag but the execution here tells me the kitchen cares for its customers. Washed down our meals with Thai Singha beer. (Don't pronounce the "ha." It's silent. Just call it Sing beer.) The staff are all sweet and attentive but not hover-y like you might expect in a western restaurant. Once you have your food, they give you space to chow--b/c sometimes when the eatin's good, food gets in your hair right? So, you need some space. Haven't tried the Japanese food that Yelper Chris P hated on. Staying away from that in favor of the stand out Thai and sushi. For now, this will be our favorite neighborhood Thai jernt and we'll be happy as clams.

Excellent sushi and curry. Wonderful and attentive service. Will definitely be back!

Seriously good stuff! I consider myself a pho-connoisseur since I lived with the inventors of the stuff and I wish their Pho was their headliner... It's GREAT. I had yellow tail sashimi and a Texas roll as well. The roll wasn't amazing but the yellow tail was surprisingly very fresh and quite tasteful. I recommend everyone to go try the beef pho right now! Thanks!!!!

Delish! Service is good, food is awesome. They allow you to pick the spice level, which is always appreciated. The curry is good great!

  • Amber B.

I don't understand how this place has such good reviews. The service is uncomfortably rude, the lighting and decor is less inviting than a McDonald's, and it looks very dingy and dirty. We've tried this place twice, and both times were really disappointed with the unfriendliness of the service and the poor food quality. For example, the Tom Ka and Tom Yum soups were watery and other than overly salty had little flavor. The tuna we got in our spicy tuna rolls was dry and obviously old.

Recommended by the lady at the nearby bank. Friendly staff, super fast service, and great food. I went with Thai, but there were a lot of people eating sushi and they seemed very happy too! Well deserving of the high ratings!

  • Cher Y.

Just the facts ma'am: Appetizers: below average miso soup, cold old salads, tom ka kai lacked the most essential ingredient: lemongrass. But had lots of cilantro floating in it doing a poor job of overcompensating for the lack of key ingredients. Entrees: Chirashi - rice was poorly done, poor presentation, fish was thawed for the most part - some were still in the process of thawing. (?!) Quality of fish is about what one can expect deep in the suburban area in TN- edible if drowned in soy sauce and wasabi. The only redeeming factor was the fresh sliced avocado. And this is me being generous to only benchmark it against other Franklin sushi establishments. I suspect given its inconvenient location, there is not much turnover in the food which explains the low quality of food. Pros: generous portion sizes, friendly service, cool and modern dining environment hence the bump up to two stars. No thanks, for next time.

  • Mike M.

This food is always hot, delicious, and unbelievable! WELL worth the price. For $7.95 you get a ton to eat - chicken teriyaki, veggies, steamed rice, miso soup and salad. AND everything is tasty!

  • John R.

They have the best Fried Rice bar none! Great sushi and Pad Thai noodles too. I highly recommend this place to anyone who likes Thai food.

    (5)
  • Janelle C.

This is a gem of a place. I come as often as my budget will allow. The fish is ALWAYS fresh. Their other dishes are spot on! I generally get the Chirashi with a side of Sriracha. It's a treat every time I stop in! I've always enjoyed their Pho Beef and Tom Ka Kai. Both were fantastic. At lunch, on the house, you get an egg roll. How cool is that?

This is one of my go-to lunch locations when I'm working in Franklin, which means that I eat here on a fairly regular basis. The staff is competent, professional, and nice; the food is always good (perhaps not the best Asian I've ever had, but consistently flavorful). The menu is probably too big for Ramsey, but they serve a wide variety of cuisines, including sushi, and the menu is organized to be digestible -- pun intended.

  • Shelbi ..

The place is in a strip mall I'm not expecting a 5 star restaurant and couldn't care less about decor. They have super friendly service and good food. Would totally go back. Had the Pad Ke Mao and my friend had the green curry chicken and both were delicious. We were deep in conversation and catching up and they were totally considerate and interrupted us very few but at appropriate times.

Best red curry in Franklin. Really nice people too. Kind of limited menu, but otherwise no complaints. Decent sushi but lots of fried offerings. Go here and support a local family family owned business.

  • Tracy T.

DON'T GO HERE! Their sushi is subpar but because it is close to our house we have gone several times. The lighting is bad, service is terrible, soup and tea served so hot you have to wait forever to consume it.... However, tonight is THE LAST time we ever come here. It took forever for them to get Gluten Free Soy Sauce and last time I was happy when they brought it to the table. But tonight when I asked for it they told me they "sell a small dish of it for $1.00 now". Unbelievable. Celiac disease and I'm penalized for needing the GF instead of them making the accommodation. The whole bottle from Publix is only $5.00. Dear owner of Zushimaki: Get a clue. You just lost a regular customer for wanting your $1.00 to make a food allergy accomodation. I travel all over the country and NO other restaurant charges for it.

While the food was delicious, the service was fine, the Restaurant clean, and the price was what I would expect this place was just 3 stars. Maybe 3.5 since there really isn't anything bad to say. My group and I were looking for more of a lounge environment than cafe style but again it wasn't bad at all. So in general, a fine restaurant with a good menu that serves a little of everyone's taste of Asian food (sushi, Thai, Japanese) at a good price. The food won't disappoint or send you running to the bathroom. It certainly won't wow you though.

Met here for a business lunch. The staff were so accommodating and friendly! I had the Dragon Roll with a seaweed salad and spicy mayo for dipping... And it was fabulous! My company had the Pad Thai, which she said was a bit spicy (she got the number 3 spice level) but fantastic. She finished the entire thing! Portions were large for the pricing and they didn't forget any of my "extras". I actually ended up taking half of my sushi with me, it held up great to travel and being held in the fridge. Great place for lunch or dinner! I will be going here more often!

For a new Asian restaurant that hasn't been opened that long, I was definitely impressed with Zushimaki after my first time visiting there. My fiance and I went there for dinner one night after my shift ended at work. It was quite busy and it took them awhile to get our drink and food orders, but I couid understand considering it was packed and there were only two waitresses. I ordered the crunchy crab roll, the yellowtail roll, and wonton soup. The soup was delicious, however I wish that the menu (which had the ingredients of mostly all of their food) mentioned that there was corn in the soup, which I am allergic to. My fiance had to finish my soup due to that. However, the sushi was delicious and very fresh! It left me wanting more. I hope to come back and try more of their sushi and other foods!

sushi is ok, but the THREE biggest problems with this place: 1. A total lack of ambiance (bright lights all the time).... Don't think about taking a new date here! 2. No gluten free soy sauce even though I ask for it every time I come in. All other sushi places have it! And 3. They cannot handle a crowd...they totally lack on customer service once all the tables are full...forget orders, mess up timing of things, etc. I only come to this place because it's close to my house.. Here now, under bright lights on a Friday night when I'd love to relax and unwind. But like I said, sushi is "ok".

I was in the mood for sushi today, so I decided to check this place out! I LOVE sushi and Asian food... I even worked at an Asian restaurant all throughout college BUT this was the worst Asian food I have ever eaten!!! I got a dynamite roll (deep fried) and some chicken fried rice. Most times when you order fried sushi it's crispy and the breading is light... But this was cakey, the breading was way too thick and fluffy... It wasn't crispy at all. It tasted like a sushi roll with a piece of bread around it. The chicken fried rice was plain and the rice was overcooked and mushy. The waitress never even asked if everything tasted ok. Terrible experience, this place is awful! There are much better Asian restaurants in the area!!!

This is terrible restaurant service ! Me and my fiancé went there 2 times ; food was ok but the one of Thai waitress ( broken arm) given us terrible service. She alway rush to other customer , and left before we even finish our order ! I had some question with dish then she even yell at me ! Never go there anymore ! Btw there 'a Thai food really not good

Great place for take out. Food is really tasty, both Thai and sushi. Atmosphere is very plain and simple.

I know everyone can make sushi, but you can't just go anywhere to eat sushi. Many of those places have names kind like Japanese, but hardly have good Japanese sushi chef. My guess is none in Nashville area. If any yelper knows one, please let me know. With that, you pretty much know my opinion on their sushi here. Pad see ew is ok, curry is ok. I guess they are cutting cost now, not much meat and veggies in my plate.

We love this place! Fast service and delicious food! Pho beef soup is especially yummy.

The best sushi in Franklin. They have excellent Pho as well. Everything is always fresh and flavorful. Try the Vietnamese Rolls also- and spicy fried rice. Delicious! Even my kids love going here.

We came in with a serious sushi craving and came out pleased that we found a place we enjoy so close to home. Zushimaki is a no-frills Sushi place, but everything we tried was super fresh and delicious. The wonton is some of the best we have had. I came back a few days later and ordered the stir-fry on a to go order, and it was just as good. Sorta of a hidden spot still, as I have not ever seen huge crowds, but it's definitely worth a go.

I love sushi, after spending extended time abroad in Hong Kong. I actively search for good Asian food, especially sushi. The sushi here is trucked in from Atlanta from an international distributor. It's high grade sushi which is rare around here. It doesn't matter what sauce is on the roll, if the grade is low, it's just can't be saved. The grade is good enough that I order the chirashi bowl which is sashimi (no roll just fish) on a bed of rice. The only thing that is a drawback is the Japanese options on the menu and also some of the noodle dishes. The Japanese teriyaki takeout I got was pretty horrible, but because the sushi they serve is heads above most else around here, they still get a pretty high rating.

Excellent menu choices and consistently prepared. Everything I've tried has been great. You can get fabulous Thai dishes. Big thumbs up!

    (5)
  • Bill E.

Wow! All your Asian favorites in one place! Fresh rolls were flavorful but I wish the portion size was a bit larger. Squid salad was better than I've had in most big city sushi houses. It was a great blend of flavors. Their pho was spot on! Terrific!

    (5)
  • Brian D.

A great addition for locals craving quality asian food without the drive to Nashville. The prices are very reasonable. Sushi and Thai food are both quite good. The spring rolls are some of the best I've ever had. Short of being near the ocean this is as good as it gets!

  • Sutasinee T.

I love the sushi here. Their Pad Kee Mao is the best. My husband goes there every week for it. I love their Pad Thai and all the special sushi rolls. The people there are so nice and very friendly. It made me feel like home every time we are there. We'll have my daughter birthday there this weekend. We'll bring 15 people and expecting the best sushi this weekend.

  • Kristen H.

Soooo good! Will definitely be my go to Thai place every time I'm in the Nashville area. My daughter and I started with an order of edamame, YUMM! For the main dishes, we had chicken pad thai and beef pad kee mao (1 star for spiciness). It was the best I've had in a long time, actually since there was a great little place in Chicago owned by a family from Thailand. Even the 1 star had our mouths hot, so we ordered another order of edamame as a cooling chaser. I can't wait to come back in town. I wish I could find a place like this back home since the owners of my old favorite place moved back to Thailand. I will be back SOON!

  • Ryan P.

Sushi was clean and fresh, and the place was clean. Issue I had was payin for a soda and getting basically a vending machine style bottle and a glass with ice. Waited awhile for our bill to which put us in a bind as we were on lunch so I would suggest not coming around lunch time.

  • Benjamin S.

Honestly, I have no complaints. This has to be one of the best sushi experiences I have had in a long time. For such a small place they were packed when we got there and the two waitresses were obviously overwhelmed. However, they seemed to manage to keep their wits about them and the service was excellent. As for the food, Wow! It makes me very happy that it is actually becoming easier to find good, fresh, sushi in and around the Nashville area. This place easily outdoes Sake up in Cool Springs and runs toe to toe with some of the best sushi restaurants I have found in Nashville. Yet, they are more than sushi, they are Vietnamese, Thai and if I remember correctly Chinese as well. Likewise their prices are comparable to most other sushi bars of this quality. For having only been open about a month they are well on their way to becoming one of the best sushi restaurants in Franklin. Now all they need to do is hire one or two more people to their wait staff and make sure they all know the menu inside and out. While the service was great, I had to explain to our waitress what Chirashi was. I did not mind though given that the restaurant was new, and I somehow doubt they have dozens of people coming in daily for their Chirashi, which was absolutely amazing and delicious.

Friendly Clean It's a bit hard to find - not their fault, likely mine they are on the side of Publix. Don't follow the GPS APP connected to the yelp app. Just locate Publix and drive around the side. However this i was surprised at the sushi, i ordered a firecracker roll and it was deep fried. My Spicy tuna should have been listed as 'tiny" tuna roll and the noodles were ok. I really tried to like this place, and although the staff was very kind, i need the food to be at least passable. I would call this a noodle bar with sushi as an afterthought.

I've been here twice and loved it both times! The food is beyond delicious, and the service is friendly. I live in west Nashville, so it's a bit out of the way for me to get to, but it is DEFINITELY worth the 30-minute drive for food this good!!

  • Joy S.

Yum! Good basic rolls...really enjoyed the crunchy shrimp and spicy tuna. Hours are weird...wish they were open more because it seems like every time I'm craving sushi, they're closed.

Great service, awesome food. I have been several times for lunch and have always had a great meal.

  • Marie M.

This place is really good! It is an undiscovered treasure. All the sushi I have ordered is great. Curry is great. Phad Thai is great. People there are really nice & they provide good service. My favorites are red curry, Phad Thai, dynamite bomb & some whitefish sashimi with lemon & sauce that isn't on the menu. If you tell them about it they will make it. There is a pic posted of it. Please give this place a try--they deserve to be successful.

Green curry superb. Seaweed salad and crab rangoon are the best in Nashville. Chirashi sushi bowl very good. Get the fried bananas and vanilla ice cream. Portion sizes are perfect. Competes with Peters in Brentwood without the wait. All our Asian favorite foods in one place!

I always recommend the Panyang Curry, it's absolutely amazing if youre in the mood for a coconut creamy curry that's not too spicy. Great sushi and starter salads too. They're very reasonably priced. We order take away from them often.

Wow.. Everyone needs to visit this place! The food is absolutely fabulous! So fresh and wonderful quality. The place is small, but it is very clean and the waitress said it wasn't 100 % finished yet. The servers were very friendly and helpful. They all had smiles and the food was priced well.

This is one of our favorite spots. The sushi is very fresh, the curry dishes are awesome, service is always great. We've also had spicy egg plant and Pad Thai; both are fantastic. The menu selection is pretty standard, nothing too far outside the box, but the quality and flavor are top notch!

    (4)
  • Amanda M.

This place is excellent! The fish is very fresh and they offer a wide variety of rolls that are reasonably priced. Sometimes the service is a little slow at lunch, if they are busy, but they're very friendly and the food is consistently delicious! I highly, highly recommend this place for sushi in Franklin. It's the best I've found!

Great "go-to" sushi place! We recently moved from the Chicago area and were looking for a place nearby that had good sushi for a good price-Zushimaki definitely delivered. We have eat out/gotten carry out over 15 times and were never disappointed. They also have a really nice, responsive staff who put the customer first; which is tough to find in the Nashville-areaThe Unagi, Philly Roll and Fuji Mountain roll and Tom Ka Kai Soup are all homeruns. Noodle dishes are also solid. Everyone should give this place a shot the value/quality combo can't be beat.

First time visit this last weekend. I have to say I was really impressed. The food quality was excellent and unlike many Thai Restaurants, my food was also hot temperature wise. My wife had sushi rolls and thoroughly enjoyed them and commented how fresh they taste
