The Dinner A’fare

545 Cool Springs Blvd

Reviews:
So I've been really busy lately and I wanted to try a few food delivery services to save time without eating out every night. I tried the Dinner A'fare in Murfreesboro a long time ago when their model was more interactive with guests cooking their own food to take home and I wasn't a fan. The Cool Springs location actually mails the food to you which is a little weird since they are so close but also nice that I didn't have to cook anything so I decided to give them a shot. I ordered 6 meals for 3 people for just under $200. The food arrived on dry ice in a couple days and you can set the food in the fridge to thaw and cook or keep dishes frozen to serve later on. The meals were all large enough to serve 6 people but they aren't totally fridge to mouth. The meals ranged in preparation from put in pan and hear to cutting steak and cooking multiple pieces to put together. No meal took more than 15 minutes of prep time. Meal Reviews: Flank Steak, Cheese Potato Strata, and Bread Pudding = YES YES YES Day one we had the balsamic flank steak and cheese potato strata. It was amazing. The steak was perfectly marinated and we all ate it without sauce. The potatoes were perfect, creamy, full of bacon and onion flavor. Hands down I would order this again and I felt good about serving it to my family. My son asked for seconds and my husband said it was worth $200. That's a win. The bread pudding was amazing. If you've had the bread pudding at the Southern - this is every bit as good. It's warm and soft and nutty. It's simply perfect. DAY THREE - Finger Lickin Chicken and Broccoli Bake = NO THANKS On the third day I warmed up the Finger Lickin Chicken and Broccoli Bake and I just wasn't that in to it. My son ate thirds and my husband killed the broccoli bake. I won't order this one again. DAY FOUR AND FIVE - Rigatoni with Steak Sauce The rigatoni with steak sauce may just be the best thing I've eaten in awhile. At first I was a little upset because it came somewhat unprepared. I had to cook the steak, cut it, cook the veggies, and boil the pasta. In my mind I wondered why this was a time savor when I could have just gone to the grocery store and bought a jar of sauce and a box of pasta but this was worth it. The sauce had subtle hints of wine and the steak was perfect. It was amazing. CHICKEN ENCHILADAS The chicken enchiladas were also very good. My husband said they were the best he has ever had. The red sauce was a little salty but it was a nice addition to the flour tortillas. CASHEW CHICKEN Cashew chicken is another winner. I served it with rice but wish I would have added Asian noodles. BLACK BEAN QUESADILLAS This was the only meal that my husband said was just "okay" and I agree. It wasn't anything special and was certainly something I could have created on my own. On top of that it was messy and hard to cook. The filling is rather juicy so it spilled everywhere and made it difficult to flip the quesadillas which made them look like giant lumps. WOULD I ORDER AGAIN I already did :) They change their menu monthly so I've ordered a few of my November favorites for round II. I'm excited to pick out some new meals for December. Downside: I love that they put the calories of each dish on the cooking instructions but I wish they told you what they consider a serving size. Perhaps because they are meals for six I am to assume that calories = 1/6 of the dish but I would prefer not to assume. I also wish they had more of a web presence. I was almost afraid to order because I couldn't find anything about this place online. Even though the food came from Franklin it did seem kind of impersonal. They are missing that personal touch but these things don't make the food any less delicious.

Auntie Ann Pretzels

Reviews:
THis is really weird to be writing a review about Auntie Ann's. Lately, however, a revolution is underfoot. There is this one guy who has been hired at Cool Springs Mall, after Xmas. He leads the team on his shift in spirit building exercises, and he says stuff like "We;re not selling pretzels, we're changing lives!" and other things I can't remember. Sometimes he talks about Star Wars/Nerd Stuff and compares his Pretzel Team to the movie/other nerdy stuff. The day before Christmas, when I was super-depressed about shopping, and life, he shouted "MERRY CHRISTMAS!" at me, semi-ironically, across the mall; with just the RIGHT bit of angst, letting me know that he, too, was sick-of-it-all. But with a smile, not, like pscyho. I felt a kinship. It was very Donnie Darko; spot on dude. Totally sweet. Thank you, Pretzel man, for diagnosing me dealio! Crisis averted; I was able to order a comforting pretzel and let go of my holiday blahs. He's like a Zen... Pretzel Nerd. He is my hero. I call him Pretzel Man. Every time I go to the mall (and I'm really a dedicated online shopper; as the mall gives me anxiety attacks), Pretzel Man makes me feel happy about being there. He shouts stuff like "Be the pretzel! Know the pretzels!" LOL! He makes it feel like a great, fun place to be. :) He is performing a thankless, minimum wage job with decency, honor, humor, and pride. He is making his crew laugh during their sweaty, greasy, difficulty days. If you can't find your credit card and you don't have cash and you go over to the side of the counter to look for your card and wave other people ahead while you look for it, he will say "It's okay, girl. This combo is on the house," with a kind smile (especially if you are someone who eats a lot of pretzels Ahem). We are ALL significant. A wheel cannot roll without cogs. A cog without a wheel is useless. A mall without a food court causes people to leave and not return. People leaving the mall causes a downturn in purchasing. No sales= no manufacturing jobs. God Speed, Pretzel man! Have I blown your little minds? Good. For I believe in order to save the mall from online shoppers such as myself, we're going to need to hire a million Pretzel Mans: performers/servers, performers/salespeople, who turn mall shopping into a fun and positive "entertainment experience." Mark my words. Because right now, shopping just makes me anxious. There's too much stuff to wade through, too many people, and it's little moments like Pretzel Man (the small-town, "personal touch") that make it worth it. Just a thought. :)

I have eaten here at this location several times and the service has always been well above any other fast food place. These people know how to greet you when you enter, the place is spotless, and it is full of families having a good time with the children in the play area.

I left my house upon my horseless carriage in search of some roast meat or barnfowl of some sort. Upon my travels, I came across this remarkable little way station. I pulled my carriage into one of the designated carriage spots, examined a list of the wares and nectars that the proprietor had to offer, pressed a bright red button and a voice came out of a magic box! Was there a tiny person inside this magic box? I do not know. It could be witchcraft! Once I established that they would not barter with their prices, I proceeded to offer them payment in the form of notes drawn from the local Wells Fargo. After a brief wait, a womanservant came out upon wheeled shoes and delivered to me roast porks with field greens as well as an elixir made from cherries and limes. It was quite effervescent. Shall my journeys bring me back to this lovely way station, I will once again partake in the offerings.

HECK YEAHHHH!!!! I went to college in San Diego, and had NO IDEA that Taco Express had moved eastward. Apparently, this is owned by the son of the original founder of the best freakin taco shops in socal. I could not believe my eyes when I saw California Burrito on the menu. You can ONLY find this in San Diego, not even in LA!!! IT's a burrito with carne asada and french fries!!! Oh holy grail of burritos, I am so joyous for your arrival to TN! THey also have the hands down BEST fish tacos, shrimp tacos, and tostadas in the whole state. There is a bar with awesome margaritas, too! You just can't beat this slice of southern california bordertown mexican delight....

Overall, you KNOW LC's pizza isn't going to taste anywhere NEAR it would elsewhere... When you keep that in mind, and with this perspective, it's only fair to judge the experience based against your expectations. Expectations: Not high I am not a huge meat person, but I don't like the flavor of their pepperoni, I would choose CHEESE! Cheesy bread: Good, spices are nice, marinara sauce is super yummy! Deep dish pizza: Pretty good. The sides were charred, not sure how that happened? Breadstix: AMAZING -- definitely recommend Service: Good! Value: Fair, especially when you take their ready made. Cleanliness: Good End Review.

Reviews:
The first thing we noticed when walking in was exceptional service. Everyone was friendly and eager to please. It's no surprise to find out that the chef worked at Samurai before coming to Franklin, as the food is just as amazing with wonderful sushi-fruit fusion options. I absolutely love salmon, and I don't think it's an overstatement to say that Umi's salmon sashimi was among the best I've ever had. The addition of avocado in the Alaska roll was also scrumptious. My favorite aspect of Samurai was always the fruit rolls, and Umi's Happy roll was just as tasty with it's mixture of strawberry, fried shrimp, avocado and peanuts. The wife ordered a chicken bento box, which was all quite good. The miso soup and shrimp tempura stood out as above average. We are absolutely thrilled that such a wonderful establishment has opened so close to home. The prices are much more economical than Wild Ginger yet the quality is top notch!
Came in for to go sushi on a Saturday night. The server was so kind and hospitable catering to my request of something off the menu. I wanted some Chirashi. She made it happen. I found out the sushi chef worked at one of my favorite spots in Nashville for ten years before opening Umi three months ago. Ever heard of Samurai on Elliston Place? They've done well for themselves and I know Umi will catch on quickly once the foodies and sushiholics get wind of this place. I'm looking forward to going back.
Great and friendly service. Amazing sushi, the best in town. Their sushi has a wide variety of sauces and flavors. Also, try the avocado bomb. It was so good I forgot to take a picture.
