i went here because my friends wanted steak. i, who does not eat red meat, didn't have steak, so my review is from a different angle, i suppose. it's a dated restaurant, but decently kept. it's fairly clean, which is a plus. waiters and manager seemed friendly, although our particular waiter was low on the personality scale. sodas were the normal, but my limes were a bit sorry looking. not horrible, but dull and marred. i tend to judge restaurants based on their limes. i'm not one for the style of bread/rolls they served. they were soft, airy, crusty biscuit/sconies. this is one of those "whipped butter" restaurants. not my kind of thing. the spinach artichoke dip was rather lifeless, lacking flavor and tact. the chips were the same. my entrée was the blackened chicken alfredo pasta. the chicken was relatively moist, but a bit spicy. combined with the pasta and alfredo, it worked well. the dish wasn't too heavy thankfully, but i only ate half, because if i ate the whole thing i could tell i'd feel like a bowling ball in an hour. the caesar salad was decent, but had a definitive lack of croutons. at first glance, one couldn't even see the croutons, but on second look, they were being shy and hiding under the salad. they're supposed to be a garnish, on top, are they not? my friend ordered the pot roast. out came her plate, with the pulled beef stuff and about a gallon of gravy on it and her potatoes. seeing as she was going to have meat with her gravy, she asked for a fresh one with the gravy on the side. out came round two, with a significantly smaller amount of gravy, and a significantly drier serving of meat. inedible. back that went, and instead she ordered a sandwich, well done, extra crispy/toasty. out it came, and that was the sorriest sandwich i've ever seen. it needed a tanning. this thing was barely toasted. thankfully, they waived the charge of her meal, and out came the manager apologizing. all in all, if i could avoid this restaurant, i would, but if i got stuck here again, i wouldn't hang myself. the food is edible, and that's a start.

Decent family owned spot. Go here instead of chili's or Fridays and support a local business. Pork chops are good. Prime rib is decent... Weekend only for that. Good alternative to chain casual dining restaurants and never a wait.

When in Franklin, Tennessee, THIS is where I go for EVERYTHING. It is a taste of home to me. I lived in this area part time for a decade, It is hard to find fresh veggies in Franklin. I used to go to this place daily and get salads to go just to hear the Crunch in my greens and have their fabulous Thousand Island dressing. I usually get the Pasta with Shrimp although most things on the menu are awesomeness. It is family friendly and has a full bar as well.. When in Franklin, it is the Chophouse for me..

Our daughter requested that her birthday meal this year be at the Chop House. We have been going to the Chop House for years because they have great food and (had) the best kids menu in Franklin. The food was excellent. We were a bit surprised that we were charged for kids drinks (they are included in the price of the kids meal). When we pointed this out to our server, she informed me that the manager had just changed the policy with no regards what was on the menu. We were happy to pay for the two kids drinks, as the Chop House just lost a customer of over 12 years.

Chop House is the reliable choice. The quality is consistent and the wait is never too long. They use a wood grill, so anything off the grill is a good choice. I am a huge fan of their salads. Fresh cut lettuce and veggies. They shred their own cheese. It makes a huge difference. Definitely family friendly and the kid meals are a great deal.

Beef Medallions were good. Could have used a bit more sauce. Service was polite. Prices decent. I would eat here again.

This is a great spot for dinner in the Franklin area! Our server was super friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. I got the cedar plank salmon and I would definitely recommend it! Portions were just the right size too. Will definitely come here next time I am in Franklin!

Great food. Love the crab cakes. Rattlesnake pasta and the steaks. Butter for rolls sweet and awesome. We live across the street and eat here very often. Only 1 star shy of perfect due to occasional poor waitstaff.

Average to disappointing fare with an unexpected high points on occasion. But consistent and that counts. I've ordered meals twice in 8 years (my 2006 experience was enough to keep me away.) My 2015 experience was similar, but improved. The similarity means my expectations remain very low, but I'll still meet friends there. The Calamari appetizer was excellently prepared and delicious (high point!) Side dishes were all tasty. And the dinner roll/biscuits...I wish I'd had bigger pockets...they were wonderful. The main course of grilled pork chops? Unpleasant. And that's being kind. Most of the pork went back to the kitchen to be scrapped. It had been so overspiced with garlic that it tasted like the pig, itself, had been fed, brined, and cooked in the stuff. Rolls and veggie plate, maybe. Hesitation is due to the price of the veggie plate.

I have eaten here several times and I can give it an OK rating but nothing spectacular. One thing I really miss after the Cooker closed down several years ago was a pot roast. The Pot Roast here is A little salty to my taste and just seems lacking in flavor. Most of the sides are also a little overdone. It does a reasonable job at offering home style cooking at fair prices but personally I would like a little more quality in preparation even if it cost a little more.

Party of 20, please?! Came here mid week recently w hubby and some friends from my Brentwood photography group. It was a party of 20. Normally reservations aren't accepted at the Chop House, but the restaurant manager took ours w advance notice. We had a nice long table to accommodate our large party. Too busy socializing, I breezed quickly through the menu and half heartedly chose the Sirloin Steak Salad ($12.49). The salad was humungous that I couldn't really mix everything without the ingredients falling off onto the table. So instead I enjoyed the medium well grilled tender strips of sirloin that sat beautifully over the mixed greens, sliced mushrooms, tomatoes and cheddar cheese. It went well with blue cheese. Sadly, I only ate probably less than five bites and took the rest to go. Time goes by fast when chatting w fellow photogs. Hubby had the best dish. He ordered the Louisiana Bayou Shrimp with Crawfish entree ($14.99) which included a generous amount of sautéed shrimp and crawfish tails tossed in a flavorful Cajun cream sauce served over rich-tasting red beans and rice. His choice side was the creamy cheese macaroni cause he knew I love mac & cheese. I'd say hubby's dish, the Louisiana Bayou Shrimp with Crawfish, was quite inviting with boastful flavors! Others in our party enjoyed their dishes too (meatloaf, steak, etc). With a large party as ours, we were assigned two servers/wait staff, both of which were impressively on top of their game. They were observant, quick, efficient, and friendly! Our overall experience was good - good enough to recommend! I can hardly wait to come back and try their other offerings. I would also recommend taking the time to review their menu options. There are some entrees I wished I ordered vs settling for a salad. Lesson learned. :/ 4.5 stars

I remember eating at this place, literally 15 years ago. The food is still great. I had stopped in for a quick lunch. Although several things looked great on the menu, I settled on tried and true... chicken tenders and fries. My friend had grilled chicken salad. Both orders were spot on and served timely....and wow...I had forgotten about the biscuits! Yum!!!

We've eaten at this restaurant for many years after attending church. At times, some of the staff have known us by name. Despite this, it's always been just ok food and sometimes ok service. Today, we came after church as we have done once or twice a month over the last year. We were seated before some who arrived before us-I thought that was interesting. We sat at our table, ignored for twenty minutes with our menus on the table showing we were ready to order. Being tired of waiting, we got up and left and no one noticed. This restaurant does not have its act together. It's not likely that we will ever return. The Chophouse lost a longtime customer today.

I wish I could give 1/2 stars on yelp sometimes. If so, I'd give this place 3.5 stars. Decent food for a decent price. It was my first time eating here. My husband hasn't eaten here since he graduated from Franklin High School (we're talking over 15 years ago or so). It was as I expected from the other reviews. The place is kind of dated, but has cool photos of Franklin and such on the walls. You can obviously tell this is a locally owned place. Most of the servers looked like local high school kids, but they all were friendly and our server was great. Someone who was the manager or owner came by to see how everything was. Overall it was a good experience and a good option for dinner if you want a decent sit down dinner but don't feel like getting dressed up or paying a lot for dinner. The complementary biscuits and whipped butter were great. I just got a four vege plate. Large servings a plenty to eat for $10. Mac N Cheese could have been better, but the baked apples, steamed broccoli, and caesar salad hit the spot. My husband got the prime rib special and it wasn't bad at all. I figured the steak wouldn't be what I'm used to at nicer steak places, but the prices are much more reasonable. They nailed the sweet tea. Although we won't be running back to eat here, we will definitely return and support this local establishment.

Love this place! After a stressful day at work, great place to sit, smell the wood grill and relax! The staff is very attentive while not overbearing. The prices are very affordable while maintaining excellent quality and taste in there ample menu choices. I have yet to encounter any less than par dishes!

Without question, the best pot roast in Franklin, Tn. Mashed potatoes, carrots and biscuits. Perfect.

BEWARE! This is not the same as the Hendersonville location. I was unpleasantly surprised after my 1st bite. Maybe a disclaimer that warns patrons not to expect the same quality as The Chop House would be sufficient.

My husband and I just moved to the area and some friends took us here last night. Olivia was our server and she was excellent. She gave us wonderful recommendations for dinner, was kind and attentive. We had the tenderloin medallion with fried okra and all of it was cooked so well. This was a fantastic first experience. The prices are lower then we expected and portion sizes are decent. I definitely will be returning here!

Nice place, I've been going here for quite a few years. Solid locally owned restaurant. I always have the grilled pork chops. small beer menu but the that's not unusual in this area. Wait staff is friendly and service is prompt.

We love this place because they do the "basics" extremely well, and consistently. The selection is broad enough that everyone finds something they want, and the little biscuits they bring the table are addictive. Personally, I'm a fan of the filet medallions; also like most of the soups. And there is a different cobbler every day, so if you're a fan you'll enjoy that.

I had the full rack of ribs and my wife got the Tropical chicken (Like teriyaki or Hawaiian glaze). Both were delicious. Both dishes were very tender and not overlooked. The wait staff and hostess were all very attentive and friendly. Prices were very reasonable.

Something for everyone! We searched through many restaurants to find one that would please everyone in our party. My son loves steak. My dad prefers low calorie options such as salad or seafood. I prefer cajun. Franklin Chop House had all of these options so I called as I was hoping the food would be good. They don't take reservations but they do call ahead seating. I ordered the Louisiana Bayou Shrimp with Crawfish. It was delicious and cured my craving for cajun food. Everyone else said their favorite foods were very good also. This was the perfect restaurant to feed a group with different tastes. The service was friendly and fast. We will definitely make return visits.

One of my favorite restaurants in town. Never have had a problem with service there. Great, all-American menu options. My favorite is the vegetable plate! And their rolls are amazing!

I went here due to the numerous positive reviews and decent prices, but after going, I feel sorry for the people who apparently don't know what a good steak house is. Liquid smoke on the filet mignon? No thanks...I'll pass, and would much rather go to Outback. And that is NOT a compliment to Outback.

The service was better than most resturants at this price point. The resturant was clean as a pin. I had the shrimp and crawfish while my wife had the beef medallions. The food was good nothing exceptional though.

I do not write many reviews but for the money you will be hard pressed to find a better Filet! I suggest having it cooked Medium. You get the steak and two sides for under $22. It's not Ruth Chris but it's also very reasonable $ for what you get!

I have been going to Franklin Chop House for as many years as I can remember. My parents live in Franklin, and when I was little and all through high school, we would go to Chop House as a default if we were going out to eat and we couldn't decide where else to go. The reason for that is because they have so much variety. Sometimes with places that have a lot of variety, some things are not as good as others. You will not find this to be the case at Franklin Chop House. To me, everything is delicious. They hardly ever have a wait, and if there is a wait, it's not long at all. Definitely try their Sunday Brunch--it's delicious! Their Eggs Benedict with either the skillet potatoes or cheesy southern grits are amazing. On the regular menu, my recommendations are: Louisiana Bayou Shrimp & Crawfish, Buffalo Chicken Sandwich, or (my personal favorite) Rattlesnake Chicken Pasta. If you're a shrimp lover like me, substitute the chicken in this pasta for shrimp...very small up-charge, and they give you a TON of shrimp. DELICIOUS!! I love this place!!

It is a nice enough place but if you sit at the bar, you get a nice view of the kitchen door.....I have only eaten soup here for whatever reason and all three times the soup was very good......nice bar, but looking at the kitchen door opening every 30 seconds was really distracting.

  • David E.

The last time I came the food tastes like it comes out of a can and today was not any better. Came for brunch and the grits had no taste. I got them because the potatoes where precut and not fresh. I returned them for the potatoes for the lesser of the 2 evils. I also had sliced tomatoes that had no flavor and taste like they were grown in water. My wife had a veggie omelet that was bland and generic. We will not come back again.

Every time we go to the Chop House, we ask ourselves, "Why don't we come here more often?" I've probably eaten at the Chop House forty times over the last ten years, and I can't recall ever having a bad meal there. Ever. My son makes their meatloaf disappear like magic. The cedar-planked salmon is always perfectly cooked. The fried catfish is light, crispy and HUGE. Their sweet potatoes are maybe the best anywhere, but watch out -- tons of butter and sugar. But they are really, really good. The spicy chicken pasta is very good, too. My wife always gets the 4-vegetable plate with their red beans and rice as her "entree". Great for a special family night out -- a must for my father's birthday every year. Maybe a tad pricey, but it's worth it every single time.

Service is always great. The steak is always great. I've been told the other entrees are also great, but the ones I've gotten have been hit or miss. Strangely awesome? The southern-style green beans! And my God, the biscuits with honey butter? Well, I had to slap my mama!

I just moved to Franklin and this was one of the first places I have eaten. I love trying new places so I was excited to see what was going on here. First off - the atmosphere is pretty nice. It's almost like a Nicer chain restaurant but it has some nice character to it. The side salad was delicious. I had a low-fat ranch dressing on my salad that was absolutely delicious - and it was homemade and tasted like it wasn't low-fat at all. The salad was fresh and the rolls were wonderful. I had the cedar plank salmon which was absolutely delicious. I'm always scared to get salmon because I'm afraid it isn't going to be enough - but let me tell you - the portion amazed me. The salmon had a delicious sauce that was very similar to maple syrup...absolutely wonderful! The only thing I didn't find wonderful were the southern style green beans. They were sweet and for some reason didn't jive with me. They were still good - but not the best I've ever eaten. I noticed a lot of people doing take-out while we were there - so apparently they do a lot of that. I'm only about 5 minutes down the road from them so I might be doing the same thing once I begin work! A wonderful place to eat overall!

If you like southern cooking you have to try this place. Friendly staff and great food. It can get busy on the weekends, and Sunday mornings for breakfast. Try the pork chop.

We've been coming here ever since the place opened. Great service and great food. The creamed spinach and the fried chicken salad are two of my very favorite things here. Atmosphere is wonderful, much like the old West End Cooker in Nashville on a smaller scale.

Good food. Great service. We took our family of 7 there, and we all enjoyed ourselves. And best of all, we were out of there for around 80 including the tip! Recommended.

Visited yesterday as a guest of an out of town-er, who raved about the salmon, I thought "great, love salmon, why not?" and again, I was being treated...we almost went to Bricktop's, which afterward, I wish that we had done. The server was happy & refreshed after several days off in a row, she was attentive and gracious. (I'll hazard a guess that was her personality shining through and think she gives top notch service daily, vacation break or not.) The wine list was minimal at best & frnakly a dissapoinment. (And we sat in a somewhat "resplendent" full bar to eat our lunch.) My 3 stars are due to the lack of creativity in said list; with all varieties of wines available in our area, not to mention more folks being somewhat wine savvy, such a list can be so much better w/o being lengthy or confusing. Also, the food was presented promptly, w/o our feeling too rushed...and the salmon was delicious if not a tad dry...but the serving size for lunch was really way too much and the charge was more of a dinner service charge @ $15.99; again, my 3 stars rating. I know folks in our area enjoy the home-cooked approach to food @ The Chop House. And it has been very successful for that. In the future, however, with so many choices locally, home-cooked foods & others - and many of these being non-chain eateries - I'll pass and go elsewhere. (Yes, I appreciated the kindness of my lunch companion, but I think she, too, wished we had chosen to eat elsewhere.)

I used to hang out with a guy who made The Chop House his after work hangout. He was a regular golfer (I'm only a couple of times a year golfer) and he and I are both more than regular beer drinkers. I went back there recently with a group, and this location was sort of in between the people from Kentucky and a guy from Huntsville. So, we chose it based on geography, not expecting great food and we were not disappointed. Everything was OK, but nothing was great. My fish was cooked right but didn't have the greatest flavor. My American lite beer (don't remember which brand as they all taste the same) was cold, but I don't see why my old friend came here so often. Maybe he had a crush on a server or maybe he didn't know there are lots of better places to drink in the area and better food as well. I don't dislike The Chop House, but I don't like it enough to come back either.

Great food! Great Service! Can definitely recommend Southern fried chicken and the chopped steak meal. And they had a great kid menu also. We have four youngsters and everyone was happy. We finished off with one piece of Oreo ice cream pie that was so big five of us shared it!

They really need to change the name to, "Franklin Meat and Three" or something like that. This is NOT a steak house. If you go there expecting to get a good steak, you'll be as disappointed as I was.

I came to Nashville looking for BBQ and ribs. The Chop House serves very good ribs. They have a sweet and tasty wet sauce. I also like the red beans and rice. It had a very nice kick to to the flavor. The wait staff is very friendly and attentive.

I was treated to lunch here while on a business trip. Chop House has an interesting atmosphere that is something like a cross between a steak house/family restaurant/BBQ den. Friendly and good service. I chose the Rattlesnake Chicken Pasta and it was quite tasty. My mate ate the same dish and it had a lovely sauce pooling in the dish, but mine was dry, but still good. Nice music, but not too loud. Prices seem a little high for the area and more like what I'm accustomed to in Seattle. I recommend a visit.

  • Mark W.

Chop the Chop House......Very average menu, kind of pricey, and below average food. My wife's Rattlesnake Pasta (House Speciality) was plain and heavily spiced with jalepeno. My burger was pretty close to a Mickey D's 1/4 pounder. All this plus two drinks was $35. The best part of our night was the drunk lady that fell off of her Bar Stool, not once, but twice. We won't be back for the food, may go back for the show ;-))

Different and delicious! Non-cajun American food with a hint of cajun. Great fruit tea and rolls/biscuits. Highly recommend their chef salad or cedar plank salmon!
