We live close. Eat here often. Always great food. Love the guacamole starter served in tostada shell. Huge menu. Tons of variety. Even cow tongue (personally I don't like to eat food that can lick me back) but my son enjoyed.

Love this place! Best Mexican in town by far! Excellent service and very authentic food. We have tried almost everything on the menu and everything is delicious. Every time I come I feel like I'm royalty! It's such a great place!

Had a late lunch there today. The food tasted okay and our server was excellent. But there are big problems with the amount of meat you get when you order a dish with chicken !!! My wife got a Chicken Taco Salad and we both agreed that at best it only had about 3 rounded tablespoons of chicken. The Chimichanga I ordered was packed with chicken but it was about half the size you would get at other Mexican restaurants we frequent. The cost of chicken must have risen a lot more than either of us realized !!! One and done for us.

Mexican food is never my choice. I only go when a dinner companion suggests it; which was how I happened to visit La Terraza last night. The salsa was boring and the queso was really thin. I ordered shrimp quesadillas and they were fine. The shrimp was actually nicely done and tasty. Otherwise, a tortilla and melted white cheese. We shared a side of what was basically "California mix". It was out of a bag. The service was just fine. I won't rush back but I wouldn't object if a friend chose it again.

I was a little skeptical when I came here being I'm from Arizona. The chips and salsa were great! I got the tacos Authenticos they were really good and only 2 bucks a taco. I had one chorizo, Carne asada, carnitas, and chicken. They are a smaller version of a taco and topped with cilantro and onion. I will definitely be back.

I wasn't too impressed with the burrito, it was dry and had no flavor.

The "grilled shrimp" for the shrimp enchiladas were certainly not grilled and all together bland. I'm not sure there was any tequila in the margarita and the french fries were way over salted. I will not be returning here. The restaurant and bathroom seemed clean though.

Family owned and operated, this place is genuine. When I go out it's because I want to settle into somewhere and relax. I want consistency and authenticity. La Terraza has it. And the margaritas are primo. I'm a Texas transplant. I'm also a foodie (a gourmand) and I can beat in my own kitchen what most restaurants I frequent may deliver. I'm picky to the extreme and I've been a fan of La Terraza since before they moved from Nolensville Pike to Franklin. If you're looking for Tex-Mex you may be disappointed, but it's close. La Terraza is closer to traditional Mexican fare (which some folk actually find bland.) I place it between Tex-Mex and Southwestern. Looking for a great steak? Go to a steakhouse. Looking for reliable and consistent Mexican fare? It's here.

We went here for the Molcajete, and it was just so-so. Not great, not terrible. It's difficult to find good Molcajete in Nashville so we were willing to drive to Franklin from Brentwood, but it was overall, just your basic Mexican...nothing too special. I also didn't like their salsa, but that might just be me. It was a little too chunky and tasted "ketchupy". And the service definitely took it down a star.

My family and I were visiting Franklin, TN for Thanksgiving and stumbled upon this gem by accident. It's tucked away in the corner of a strip mall and easy to miss, but it's worth searching out. The atmosphere was pleasant with a very friendly staff. The Mexican food was the best we've had since moving to the South from Arizona. I recommend stopping by for dinner when you're in the area.

La Tarraza has terrible food. I got nachos and my wife got fajitas, and the beef, steak, and chicken were not seasoned. The steak and chicken were dry and chewy. The chips were stale and they didn't come with salsa. I would not recommend this place at all. Much better places in the area.

La Terraza has all the Components of a great Mexican restaurant. Chips and Salsa - fresh chips; nice salsa that isn't too hot for everyone, they give u a carafe so u will not run out. Personally I love the flavor of their salsa (u can taste the cilantro but its not overwhelming). 5 stars Margaritas - top shelf margaritas are the only way to go wherever u order them. At Terraza they are strong and have great taste. 4.5 stars Entrees - I bounce between fajitas Terraza and enchiladas supremas. My wife loves the tacos autenticos. The only thing that La Terraza lacks is a good Tres Leches cake ( in my opinion ). Compared to other Mexican restaurants around La Terraza is one step above based on quality of food and price. My wife and I prefer it over some of the other popular choices in Franklin / Cool Springs. We just hope it doesn't become as popular as those overrated places.

Friday night, I ate grilled cactus here. Bet you didn't expect that, and neither did I. And let's face it, if there's an entree on a menu that lists grilled cactus as one of its components, life's too short to ignore that and not try it. And I'm happy to report, it was pretty good. The cactus portion looked like an aloe vera leaf, and tasted fairly neutral. Hubby and I were taking my mom-in-law out to dinner just after she bought a new car, so we were hungry and needed no wait to appease. That's kind of what La Terraza is for us - we eat Mexican out a lot, and have two faves in Franklin that are mentioned in my other yelp reviews. If it's 6:00 on a Friday and mom-in-law says she wouldn't mind Mexican, if you pop in here you a) won't have a wait; and b) you can have a conversation that everyone at the table can participate in with ease. Both of these factors can be important. Sadly, I couldn't pronounce whatever the entree was called that included cactus, but if you are there you'll see it listed at the top of one of the sections and there's a photo. My fajita-like entree is delivered on a wooden plate having been cooked in one of the black volcano bowls that was shaped like a pig, and super hot you are warned not to touch. Why is it when they say don't touch I always feel the need to (eventually) touch? 15 minutes later, and I can report it was still hot - so seriously, don't touch. Hubby and his mom both had fajitas, which were plentiful and on par, and they enjoyed a reportedly good margarita on the rocks. The salsa was a little spicy Friday night, which mom-in-law enjoyed - I'm not eating carbs these days so it didn't matter to me, no chips for Sarah. Service was quick and attentive until it time for the check to come... and for some reason our server seemed to forget we were around. Even after placing a credit card on the table, it still took a rather long time to get cashed out. The decor is fun Mexican, the seating are those leather seated drum-type chairs which I think are fun, mom-in-law didn't care for those too much. But like I said, if you are looking for a no-wait, not-bad-food, in a Mexican place where you can actually have a pleasant conversation - go check them out. Bonus for us, is they are located in the Maples Shopping Center which is directly in front of where we live. For residents of Maplewood, you simply can't beat the convenience.

As basic as it comes. Stale chips runny salsa. Decent food. You can definitely find better food around here, this is as generic as it gets.

My wife and I continue to look for great authentic Mexican food and drop dead margaritas. This led us to La Terraza Mexican Grill. While there are a number of So-So Mexican restaurants in the Greater Nashville, Cool Springs, and Franklin areas, La Terraza stands out with a variety of unique Mexican dishes. Both of us have noticed how exceptionally fresh the salsa tasted. A nice balance of tomato, onion, cilantro and (heat) jalapeno pepper flavors and served chilled with fresh hot chips. I had a combo plate with a chili rellano, enchilada and a taco. The wife had a big burrito. Her only complaint is white cheese sauce. We find it all over the south, not real authentic but good. It only gets real weird if you order nacho's and it's smothered in it. We were pleased with the atmosphere, service and quality of food. This is the first margarita that you could taste the tequila! They had a Memorial Day special a jumbo for $7.00, only takes one! We (or at least I am) are looking forward to a return visit, especially during happy hour for the exceptional prices on margaritas.

The food is always fantastic. Servers are usually a bit distant until they are engaged. Best Mexican dish in Franklin.

This is the best Mexican restaurant around. The food is amazing and fresh and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. They have great prices and large portions! The bar is beautiful and the drinks are fabulous! This is the only Mexican place I visit!!

This place is close and pretty great, so we do frequent here a lot. The place is cozy, and does offer outdoor seating, which is usually packed during the spring and summer months. There's always plenty of room inside though. It's your standard Mexican joint. These guys are fast, and that's great when you're starving. It's not the very best I've ever had, but it's leagues from the worst. I usually get the chicken fajita, but I've had the chicken taco salad a lot as well, and both taste really good.

Great fajitas. My husband and I always split the mixed fajitas for two... We are even extra difficult customers and always request it really well done, and they always oblige and are so sweet despite how high maintenance we are. We eat here at least once a month.

It is Mexican in TN, but maybe a little better than average. Maybe. The atmosphere is beautiful and the staff is friendly. The selection on the menu has the old standards with a few tasty variations thrown in there. This is one of those places that thinks Mexican food means too much of the same red sauce on everything, WAY too much melted cheese again on everything, and brown mush on the side that supposedly used to be beans. That said, the red sauce is a lot less bland than some other places in the area. The cheese tasted a little better to me as well. The seasoning was to my liking. Definitely a step above most of the other bland "Mexican" around. I recommend staying away from the unimpressive beef. The chicken was good though. I hesitate to get Mexican seafood anywhere but SOL. Try at your own risk.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
