This place is amazing. Went in on a thursday night around 6pm. Wasn't that busy, but as the night when on it did continue to get busy. Definitely a popular place. Ordered Chicken Tikka masala and garlic naan. The portion looked smaller but it was definitely filling. I came in with my boyfriend and we decided to share. It does come with rice unfortunately I don't eat rice, can't vouch for that. We also then ordered the rice pudding with Indian Chai tea which was phenomenal. Friendly service. Not overpriced at all.

Have been coming here for over a year and i think now is the time to finally add my 2 cents for this place. If you have been here you already know there are 3 other places in the same block offering a Indian Buffet for $10 and they are all well kept and maintained. The only reason i come here every time is just one, i,e the FOOD just tastes homely. First these folks hail from Punjab India which is the mother of home cooked food, 2nd their food just tastes the same every time no ups or down. The buffet is your normal buffet but everything is freshly prepared and served not just dumped on and left for 4 hours. They go for their usuall Daal Fry, Saag (spinich) which is made exactly how my mom makes it so makes it even more delicious. Do try these guys and you will get a yelp discount as well.

So, we came, a little broken b/c our favorite Indian restaurant in Cool Springs--Swagruha--is gone and we haven't had the heart to try another place for months now. But, it was a Sunday. We were hankering for something that was not from our own kitchen. We rolled through our favorites that were close, in Cool Springs. Was there Indian food here to try? We'd been to Biwrachi Biriyani Point. There was Bombay Bistro--hip, clever cocktails, excellent tikka masala. But then we found House of India on Yelp. *Eyebrows up* reviews were good and great. My lip curled. If Swag didn't survive, how could anything come close to appeasing my snobby demands? But, it had been so long since we had the Spice. So, we bundled ourselves up and highed ourselves to HOI. As we walked in the door, I thought, grrrr, this feels a little like the Raj's British parlor. We were seated in a booth with broken down springs. Someone lit the table light that smelled so strongly of petroleum, I wanted to gag. Sounds like it's going to hell from here, right? Wrong. I was so wrong. As one of my sons said, his sadness at missing Siva and Vijay made us feel grudging toward this restaurant. Each of the beginning dishes made us feel disloyal. We were discomfited by being there. But, one by one, we were won over by the food. We asked for the dishes to be super hot--spicy. And they were. My ears were ringing pleasantly. They do not play here. We had the kebab appetizer, the goat biriyani, lamb saag, tadad daal (yellow lentil as), chicken 65, and gulab jamun and masala chai -- hot sweet, redolent with spice. The tadad Daal was absolutely stand out. Very garlicky with strong notes of cumin and arse-kicking heat. The goat biriyani was far wetter than I preferred and heavier on cardamom than I expected but damned if I didn't get a little addicted. The lamb saag was smokey, earthy and delicious. The chicken 65 was not great. Too sloppy and greasy. Here, I missed Dr. Vijay's Chili Chicken. We also missed Siva's meticulous dosas and abundant freshly sliced red onions. Sigh. But, this food was very, very good. The environs don't necessarily appeal to us but the food is excellent. We will be back. HOI has a robust take out business so maybe we are in good company. While we miss the Swag family so very much, we are delighted to find a new Indian restaurant in Cool Springs that turns out exceptional food that is flavorful, garlicky, and highly seasoned. No hesitation here in the spice and heat. Delicious.

I love this place. The food is so delicious and they can make the food not spicy at all. They have great hours and easy parking. It's usually packed on the weekends.

  • Rachel H.

I usually don't complain, but I do not think I should wait over 40 minutes for takeout food. I ordered my take out at 6:30pm and did not get my food until 7:10. Food was delicious, but I will not be ordering from here again when the place I usually go has it ready as soon as I arrive.

Chicken tikka masala extra extra spicy and garlic naan. Wow! Amazing stuff, go now! I'm an avid connoisseur of indian and rarely is it spicy enough. Kudos to great flavor and heat!

So I've been pretty hesitant to review here... and not because it's bad but because I think I've become an infamous "to go" regular! I have eaten here for dinner (INSIDE) before with a friend and thoroughly loved the experience, it reminds me of going to my favorite dosa places in Chicago (clearly I don't go here for the Dosas but it's as authentic and welcoming as Devon Ave was back up there. I promise if you want a solid Makhani, Korma, or Vindaloo (my favorite!) fix this is your place to go! Most portions are enough for two meals! They always give service with a smile and definitely fulfill my weekly Indian cuisine cravings :)

Oh My Gosh! This place is crazy awesome. The Owner, Staff are TOP NOTCH! Food is quality, generous portions. The only problem... Guaranteed to leave stuffed like a Pig! 10 out of 10.

  • Mrs M.

What a supurb resturant! We ordered enough food for an army considering it was just the two of us. The food was amazing. And although the portions look small, they are anything but. One portion is enough to serve 3 people. We ordered Lamb Sagg, Chicken Korma, Garlic Naan, Tandoori Chicken & a vegetarian specialty called Kaju Curry. The service is supurb, the food delish, the check appropriate and the chances of us returning...100%

This was my first time going to an Indian restaurant and I must say that I was a fan. We went for their lunch buffet, which was great because you have a few options and as a newbie it helps to see the stuff before actually getting it. The food was very flavorful and spicy, and they have a lot of options! We looked at the menu out of curiosity and there are a lot of dishes to choose from if you come for dinner. Even though I didn't feel like I ate a lot I ended up really full, which was good!

Came here with couple of co-workers. Food is amazing. Not everyone makes good chicken tikka Masala - this place has it perfect. I will recommend it very seriously. Spice tea was perfect idea and it's very good. It's not easy to find a good Indian restaurant- this was a good find.

  • Robin B.

Our new favorite Indian place in the Nashville area. We try to make it at least once a week, sometimes more if we're lucky. We used to stick to the Chicken Tikka Masala but after trying the Korma on their buffet, we were instantly hooked. We've never had a bad meal here and the management/staff are friendly and attentive.

If you want Indian food during a storm, this is your spot. House of India is the only Indian restaurant that remains open in inclement weather. Swagruha is my favorite Indian place in Franklin and I was on my way there with some friends to let them try it out. However, we had a snow threat and they were closed. We then headed down Carothers to look for an alternative and noticed that House of India was open. We were not disappointed. We were immediately seated and the service was excellent and attentive throughout the night. We sampled the papadum and it came with an interesting assortment of dipping sauces. (chutney, etc.). We also ordered some sort of meat sampler that was excellent, but I cannot remember the name of the dish. Bad Yelper... For my entree, I ordered the chicken curry. It was very good. It had good spice to it, but didn't destroy my intestinal tract. We all had way too much to eat and that left plenty to share and try. The great thing about Indian food is that it is always different depending on the region of the country. I don't know much more about it than that, but it is neat to try different restaurants that present subtle differences with their cooking. House of India is quite good and I look forward to visiting them again soon.

House of India is the only Indian restaurant we frequent now in Franklin. I am always so impressed by the service! I often do the buffet for work lunch, and we dine in or order delivery for dinner. The House Special Chicken is my new favorite, and their naan is the best in the area. My coworkers are also hooked, so I now eat here around 2-3 times a month! They also recently impressed me by being open for customers in spite of snow and ice, while so many other places were closed. They told me they didn't open the buffet because too much food would be wasted since not many people were coming in, but they were open for orders off the menu. I was impressed with their dedication; to thank us for coming in we got a free dessert on the house after dinner. My fiancé says they make the best malai kofta in town. Needless to say, we left them a big tip for being open in such crazy weather for crazies like us who wanted to escape cabin fever.

Coming from Los Angeles and experiencing/loving Indian food around the world ~ there's none better in Franklin. The chic tikka is the bomb ~ but... Not on the menu the lamb or chicken bhuna introduced to me by a neighbor from the UK is another crowd pleaser. Great buffet for lunch if you're ready to seriously throw down. Great, family owners long time Nashvillians.

  • Andrew W.

Delicious and very authentic Indian food. Staff is very friendly and accomodating. When I told them it was my first time eating there, they gave me a free Indian rice pudding. I highly recommend the chicken tikka masala, which also comes with a large serving of rice. The portions are quite large, so you can probably feed two people with each entree. I also like the garlic naan which is great to dip in the remaining sauce of your masala.

  • Blair S.

House of India is a welcome addition to the growing ethnic food options in Williamson County and even surpasses most Indian restaurants in the area. The service is great every time I visit, even for take out orders. They have an excellent selection including a large selection of vegetarian dishes. My favorites include spicy eggplant, chana masala, aloo gobhi, vegetable korma, goat curry (yes, goat! try it!), and the vegetarian thali. Not sure where to start? Go for one of the chef's specials since it will have a good variety and a good price.

My bf and I placed a carry out order here. We walked in, they asked us to have a seat. We sat down. Then they told us to get up and move to a different table. That was not a big deal but they should of specified. We grabbed a carry out menu and omg. It was so fricking tiny! With the lighting and small print. No one would be able to read the tiny print. We had to old it up to our faces lol and we're not old people. LOL! We placed our order. Had the lamb chops, samosa, and lots of naan. We waited almost 30 mins for the food. The lamb chops take awhile so that's understand able. Another guy that had placed a carry out order was offered water while waiting. We didn't get offered anything. But it's ok. We just like to observe what goes on and how people get treated and such. Overall, food was good, no complaints except for the basmati rice...super dry, couldn't eat at all. They gave us a big thing of it and took one bite and in the trash it went. But lamb chops were good so was the naan.

Excellent India food. Not being one who knows a lot about Indian food, the staff was very helpful in selecting food we would enjoy. My wife and I have added this place to our date night rotation.

We just had the lunch buffet at the House of India and it was absolutely fantastic! Lots of different choices, with old favorites like tandoori chicken and chicken tikka masala and some other options that I haven't had before. Everything was hot, fresh, and delicious!

My family and I have been coming to this place since it opened and it never disappoints. Coming from a long line of curry lovers from the UK, this is the place that has the most authentic Indian food with the vibe of an Indian back home in England. This place is great for groups and for families with children of all ages. I love love love The House of India

It's not often I give a five star review on anything. It comes from a lifetime of working customer service and knowing how to excel at customer satisfaction, and frankly, some places don't come close to five stars. I give the best customer service, and I expect the best as well. In fact I don't think I have ever given a restaurant a five star review. We have traveled from Spokane, WA and have many good Indian restaurants, but those do not measure up to the excellence experienced at House of India. Ranjeet is the most well disciplined patriarch that greets you as you walk in the door, and says goodnight to you, when you take your happy belly home. We had the shrimp curry, and the chicken marsala, both of which were the best we have ever had. The garlic (Naan) bread was a pleasant surprise, as it was brought to our table, we were hit in the nose with the garlic smell. (always good to get hit with that, always!) You immediately think the taste of the garlic is going to be as strong as the smell, but pleasantly it is not. It is a very mild breed of garlic, that is smooth and mellow. My wife had the Mango Lassi, and I had the HOT Tea. Both were amazing with plenty of sweet flavor, no sugar needed. We were pleased to round out our meal with some rice pudding, and it cleanses our palate perfectly. (well perfectly for me, but my wife added some sugar to it, because she is so sweet!) I have never been to a more pleasantly professional Indian atmosphere. It is full of 'Yes sir', and 'Yes ma'am'. Authentic Indian doesn't get any better! Ranjeet, when are you going to open 3 or 4 more locations? This is simply the BEST!

  • Stacie G.

I love Indian food and have had a hard time finding good Indian food in this area. I have finally found my spot! The wait staff is amazing, the owner is very cordial and helpful! The atmosphere is also amazing. I am in love with House of India!

  • Alex K.

I was recently introduced to Indian food by one of my coworkers while I was on a business trip in NYC. I immediately fell in love with the all of the different flavors and got hooked. I've only been to a couple of Indian restaurants and I'd have to say that house of India was the best. All of the food there was delicious. The chicken tikka masala was very flavorful, as was the garlic naan. I went here with my fiancée for the lunch buffet. I think it was about $10 per person which is pretty reasonable considering that you can easily pay over $10 for one dish if you were to order off of the regular menu. The staff was extremely nice and attentive. Waters never ran out and the naan kept getting refilled. We will definitely be back.

  • Suranjan S.

You cannot go wrong at this fantastic restaurant. Ranjeet will take absolute care of you -- every dish is superb. I recommend that you try a mix of dishes and share -- the kebabs are particularly succulent. I am familiar with authentic indian food; the cooks here come straight from Punjab. Other indian restaurants in the Nashville area are good, but House of India is in its own league. *Highly* recommended.

  • Rose D.

I love Indian food and am often dissapointed but this place is AMAZING! Everything we tried was absolutely delicious and the service was great. We had chicken curry, chicken tikka malsala, garlic Naan and a mango lassi. They even threw in rice pudding for dessert which was very enjoyable. We were just passing through and stopped for dinner but if we lived locally I would eat here often!

This place is incredible actor trying multiple Indian restaurants this place takes the cake everything is fresh and clean. The atmosphere is beautiful. The doughballs are kept warm, and they even keep chai tea hot, and the mango pudding is delicious. all of the chicken is a very high-quality and water is continuously kept. The manager is very kind and everything was really amazing. don't fret non-is actually brought to your table fresh after sitting down for the buffet. I urge you to try this place. I live in Atlanta at the moment and have been to around 7 indian places and this one is by far the best all around. I will be bringing my father back to try indian food for the first time.

The service and food here were extremely good. We loved using our check-in offer for a discount. The menu said there were no refills on soda/water which had me concerned, but they didn't charge us for refills. I'll be back!

  • Sarah W.

This is one of my favorite Indian restaurants! The service is excellent, and the owner is fantastic! The chicken Tikka Masala is fantastic. The okra is delicious. If you don't know what to get, just ask and they will make great suggestions. We visit at least once a week, and we never have bad food or bad service.

  • Lance L.

Excellent service, very good food. Very nice atmosphere. I came here for lunch on a Wednesday, and was greeted graciously by the host and seated in a peaceful booth. The buffet table had all the "Indian Buffet Standards", and then some. It was a very enjoyable meal, because of both the food selection and the atmosphere.

Mango lassi drink, Lamb curry (Indian spicey) and naan bread. Everything was phenomenal. Lamb curry was perfectly spicy with plenty of exotic flavors. Not overwhelmingly spicy either. Lamb was cooked perfectly and very tender. Now back to my food. Nom nom

House of India is the best Indian Food hands down in Franklin. I ordered food to go for my family if 9. Ordered five entrees, two appetizers and some nan bread. It was enough food to feed my family for three meals. The food is just delicious. The spice and flavor is perfect! Additionally they threw in a couple of free desserts and mango drinks! Will be back many time over!

I ordered food online and had the food delivered to my hotel room. It was super easy to order via the web and my food arrived within 30 minutes. I've had Indian food before, but by far this has been the best Indian good I've had! I highly recommend this place and when I am back in Nashville again, I'll be visiting their restaurant or order online again for sure!

Four and half stars, great food and service. Very authentic and tasty, food is prepared mild but they will ask if you want it spicier. Went here for my birthday dinner and was extremely pleased to celebrate here. I will certainly return to House of India.

  • Levi B.

Thankful that I got introduced to this restaurant. We have been to 4.5 star Indian restaurants in NYC and LA that do not hold a candle to this place. We like the other Indian restaurants in Franklin and Nashville but we LOVE House of India. The food is the best we have had. Perfect spice, perfect flavor. Our favorite, of course, is Chicken Tikka Masala. The bonus is that the owner is so accommodating and the servers are friendly and hard working. Cannot recommend this restaurant enough. And, we're eating here tomorrow night, too!

    (5)
  • Brian Z.

Very nice dinner, excellently prepared and authentic. Very professional and friendly staff. I asked for my order to be spicy, and it came exactly how I like it. I will definitely be back soon!

We had a delicious dinner here! We were two adults and three children (11,9,4) and ordered three entrees plus naan and had more than enough food. We especially loved the Saag Paneer and garlic naan. The service was excellent and we enjoyed our food and time at House of India. We will definitely be back!

I took my adult son here for a special occasion and for an eating adventure. We had a really nice dinner. The people who served us were very friendly and happy to tell us about the different dishes and to answer our questions. If you are new to Indian food ask for the most poplar chicken dish.

Absolutely the best Indian restaurant in Nashville. Superb service and wonderful food. I would recommend house of India to anyone looking for authentic Indian cuisine in Franklin.

  • Johnson K.

My family loves House of India!! We eat there at least once a week, and have never been disappointed. The service and staff is second to none. The ambience is lovely and authentic. There are so many options on the menu that there is sure to be something for everyone. My favorite is the Baingan Bhartha (vegetarian), my daughter's is the Mango Chicken and my husband has tried everything on the menu. If you're not sure what to get, Ranjeet (the owner) makes great recommendations. Make sure to get the garlic naan and a mango lassi, you will not be disappointed.

  • Jessica S.

I've never had Indian food before but tried this place for lunch today with a friend. It was incredible! I had their lunch buffet and everything was very fresh. The staff was very friendly and attentive. It wasn't true crowded and it was quite authentic. If you ever have a chance to stop in for lunch, I HIGHLY recommend it. I will definitely be coming here in the future...it's just too delicious!

  • Zak W.

After trying the other Indian food restaurants in Franklin, my girlfriend and I always found ourselves coming back here. There seriously isn't one bad thing on the menu. The staff is fantastic and is always willing to get you what you need. Normally, I'd recommend one or two dishes to have when you come here, but like I said earlier, there is not one bad thing on the menu. Make sure that if you like your Indian food spicy, to order it at least at medium. It's got some good heat at that spice level.

    (5)
  • Wesley C.

We have been to House of India twice in two weeks and we cannot get enough. The food is wonderful an they always have some many different dishes. Make sure you try the spinach dish. It's a must. Ranjeet and the rest of the staff are always very attentive and pleasant. I have not had a bad experience here. Make sure you get their early. This place fills up fast. Try the tea is delicious. We will be back and hope to see you there.

  • Tessa K.

I love this place. I consider it one of mine and my boyfriends best date night places. The good is wonderful and service is great. I wish I could order one of everything on the menu.

    (5)
  • Kevin M.

Saw the reviews and definitely pleased I followed the recommendations - Lamb Achari for my main had a good amount of heat - ex pat Brits like me tend to find the American Indian restaurants can be a bit tame taste wise (yes we're snobs that way), this wasn't tame at all and very flavorful. Great service too and Bollywood on TV - what's not to like.

  • Ben N.

This is hands down the best Indian food I have had in several cities that I have tried. Every one of the dishes on the lunch Buffett is fantastic and all of the service was fantastic. I would recommend this to anyone who is interested in trying Indian food for the first time because it is delicious in every way and a great introduction to the ethnic cuisine. I hope that you will give them a chance the way that we did and enjoy this delicious Indian food!

Excellent!!! reminds of authenticity like home cooked food. The new chef seems to bring in true indian flavors versus catering to mass

  • Lloyd K.

I have tried every Indian restaurant in nashville and this is far and way the best. The food is authentic ,tasty and always comes out hot (and stays hot because they put them on burners on the table). Prices are very reasonable and the service is impeccable! The owner Mr Ranjit is always friendly and there to greet you and makes you feel special (like a King!!)

I love Indian food. When I read that the folks who sold Bombay Palace on West End in August of 2013, I was eager to try this new place in Cool Springs. After all, Bombay was my favorite Indian place in Nashville. My date and I were seated promptly and we got right down to it. There seemed to be a bit of a language barrier with the waiter. I tried ordering my dish and he asked how spicy I'd like it... not a question that is at all unusual. I responded "spicy" and he said "no, you get medium... too spicy for you." Fine, I'll get medium... You must know better. To sum it all up, my meal was missing a lot of flavor -- and spice. The rice was very bland, and even my date agreed with that. I'll most likely give them another try but I'm super disappointed. On the bright side, I had the best mango lassi I've ever had.

    (2)
  • Fred H.

I love the fact that we now have five Indian restaurants in the Cool Springs area...and for lunch, this is one of, if not, the best. Great atmosphere, great service, and more variety than most--not to mention hot, fresh naan! Running a lunch buffet is a careful business--it needs to be dependable and familiar, but not tired. Especially with Indian food, you want to enjoy new things, to be stretched, but not misshapen! House of India has achieved that, and it's my "go-to" call when my buddy calls and says "Let's have a curry!"

This is, by far, the best Indian restaurant in Nashville! The owner, Ranjeet Singh, is so friendly, greets customers at the door, is very attentive. His previous restaurant, Bombay Palace, was located on West End, so glad they moved closer to us. They have a tandoori oven, so the tandoori chicken and naan are the best! We usually order more so we can take food home to eat again. We also love the chicken tikka masala, dal (lentils), alu gobhi, (potato & cauliflower), and kulfi (frozen dessert). You can't go wrong with anything that you order. We have brought friends in there and they have become regular customers. Enjoy!!

I like it HOT. They do Vindaloo and it is Hot, which is a good thing. I was very impressed with the excellent and friendly service. I ate there with a colleague for dinner on a Thursday night and we were both very happy. My friend spoke highly of the vegetarian dish, Mango something or other. I had Chicken Vindaloo, it was really nicely done. I didn't break out in a sweat but it was about as good as I have had in North America. The waitstaff and management were genuinely friendly and welcoming. I recommend it and if I could give 1/2 stars I would up it to 4.5.

What a pleasure to see the old crew from Bombay Palace on West End! These guys are as friendly as ever and the food is even better than it was at the old place. I am definitely coming back often. The dining room is nice and comfortable. I went with a crew of three so we tried several things. The tandoori items were very fresh (even the seafood) and perfectly spiced. The lamb was tender and delicious. And they have the same great korma. We had a great meal thanks for coming to Cool Springs.

Amazing buffet! Friendly service! Best Indian Food we have found! Great variety of dishes and naan is included in buffet! Our new favorite restaurant!

Absolutely awesome Indian food, wonderful friendly service and reasonable prices. Comparable or better than Indian food I've had in NY or San Francisco or LA. Have only had menu service can't speak to lunch buffet but if it's anything close to evening food quality I don't see how you can go wrong. Extra credit for funky, epic Bollywood musicals playing on TVs!

Checked this place out with my wife on a Sunday afternoon. Didn't realize that they close at 3pm... Yelps hours were wrong. They still let us eat and didn't turn us away! I ordered the chicken curry and my wife ordered the some vegetarian meal... We also got vegetable samoasas and two chai teas. Food presentation was awesome. Waiter was super nice and you can really tell that they wanted you to have a good experience dining there. I ordered the curry with a 6 heat. Had a little bite and was delicious. We had some garlic naan that was killer! I love Indian food and this place ranks at the top! Definitely will be returning for their lunch buffet as it looked delicious.

This place!! Something told me to go here instead of the other nearby Indian restaurants. I'm glad i listened to my gut feeling, because now my belly gut is VERY HAPPY! I was headed to Nashville and this was on the way, but I might make another special trip just to come eat here!!! The food was amazing and the staff was super nice!! I'll be back!!!

Tikka masala is the basis of an Indian restaurant. My visited to House of India prove they have mastered it. The TM was perfectly prepared, good spice and creamy. Bathe naan was great, lite and fluffy. My appetizer was also great. I highly recommend HOI, my favorite Indian place

Was really missing the food at Bombay Palace when I moved to the Cool Springs area...well, now it's just down the street :) Same owners, same amazing food. Great service, very nice buffet seletion at lunch, a very enjoyable experience every time.

We went there for the weekend buffet after reading the reviews on yelp. I am disappointed that yelpers proved themselves wrong on this place. While the starters were good the main course was far from authentic. People have also mentioned about the hospitality of the owner but I guess we were not able to feel any of that "love". Numerous other little incidents including two weird responses when I tried to ask if there were other types of bread than naan. All in all disappointed in this place. They should try to do better than fake hospitality and start making real indian food. Never going again.

Horrible service, uncooked daal, and when issue with service was brought to the owners attention, they told me that it was my fault to expect good service on a Sat night when they are so busy. I have never had such a bad experience at a restaurant. They are too busy to care about the service provided to their customers.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this restaurant! Every time I walk into this location they welcome me like family. They have the nicest staff by far! Their food is excellent. Please try their Chicken tikka masala with naan it's to die for. This is my go to spot when I'm in the mood for great Indian food. You will not be disappointed.

Welcoming owner and staff, flavorful food, cozy ambience! I ordered chicken tikka masala + garlic naan + sweet lassi. Everything was tastefully cooked and served! We plan to return soon!

In my opinion, better than Sitar, Bombay Bistro, and Tamarind. Great naan. I like how they served my chicken saag over a flame. They didn't skimp on the chicken either. This will be my go to for Indian food.

Finally do not have to drive into Nashville for excellent Indian food. The competing restaurants in area are both rather bland. House of India is a taste treat, spicy enough to keep me coming however not so spicy that I cannot bring people not familiar with Indian food. The proprietor and staff very friendly and welcoming. My highest recommendation.

Flavorful food and spectacular service. Owner is very courteous and is on the floor talking to all the guests.Beats it's neighbor " Bombay bistro" anyday.

The food was delicious. The restaurant is very nice inside, in a great location in Cool Springs. The reason I'm giving it a 3 is for service. The wait staff could not answer questions about the menu or make alternate suggestions. Two of our six entrees were markedly different from what the server described. I am not sure if it was a misunderstanding due to language, or indifference; it seemed like a little of both. But in summary, we love Indian and the food here was excellent.

Great food. The staff and owner were very friendly and prompt. Some of the best Indian I've had in years! I highly recommend this place! Their Chicken Tikka Masala is by far the best I've ever had!

I don't know how this place gets anything less than 5 stars. My family and I ate here Friday night and had the best dining experience that we've ever had. Our hostess and servers made sure that our questions were answered, that our drinks never got lower than half full, and that we never needed anything. I would return just for the amazing customer service. But to top it all off the food was delicious and the portion sizes were great. This is going to be our new favorite Indian restaurant hands down. Try them out. You won't be disappointed.

Overall, a very good meal. The food is well balanced, tasted fresh, and came out hot. I am Indian and there were many other Indians in the restaurant. This could be my favorite auntie's house (but not my mother's). The food was less heavy than usual fare but still with a nice blend of spice. My 3 year old son also loved his chicken. They offered a beer menu, I am unsure if there are other drinks available. Didn't see any on the menu. The mango lassi was enjoyed by all. They are new to the Franklin area (from the Nash West End). A few kinks to work out. The service was slow and perhaps forgetful (but they were not busy), so maybe understaffed. Music would help to cover kitchen noise and would add to ambience. Everyone in the restaurant was EXCEPTIONALLY nice. In my opinion, this goes a very long way and makes or breaks a restaurant. Combined with good food, this is a five star restaurant. I am certain the moving kinks will get worked out and we will be back!

Went during lunch and tried the all you can eat buffet. Not much as far as selection goes, and some of the food wasn't very warm and seemed to be sitting out for a while. Service was great and wouldn't mind trying the dinner menu out, but probably won't be back for the lunch buffet

This is by-far one of the best Indian restaurants I've been to. Their afternoon buffet is off the chain and, they have the best version, in my area, of the mango lassi! The Indian restaurants area have good flavors in their food; however, H.O.I really takes the time to make it better. Proper amounts of hot spices and technique catapults this restaurant as authentic and delicious. They provide polite, friendly service and the restaurant has a great vibe and atmosphere. I personally went for a buffet style with my family. Upon arrival, we were promptly greeted and asked where we like to sit. Once seated, we made our way to the main attraction, The Buffet! Starting with a bit of rice, Saag paneer (I loaded up on that), and I added a few more main staples in Indian cuisine. Chicken Tikki masala, Raita, and mint chutney accompany me back to my seat, and they gave me the performance of their life. Everything was on point, flavor and atmosphere coming together to give you the House of India. Check it out, you'll be glad you did!

Happened across this place and very glad we did! I like mine mild and this was just to my taste. Service was great. Extensive menu with all the traditional dishes you might want. I tried something new and was very happy. My husband tries Indian where ever we go around the world and he gives it five stars. Back home in Australia there is a massive Indian population and no shortage of authentic Indian cuisine, so we know our stuff! Give it a go :-)

First I want to say that I have eaten Indian food around the world in London, Tokyo, New York and others. I feel extremely fortunate to have such a quality Indian restaurant near where I work.. The staff is very nice and helpful. But it is the food that is why I keep coming back every week.. The selection covers the mainstream offerings like Chicken Tikka Masala (which is one of my favorites) to the spicier Chicken Curry and Chile Chicken.. The Naan is a perfect sonsitency with a subtle buttery taste.. I cannot recommend House of India enough.

Worst indian restorent I ever been. Very costly and nothing to eat. I ordered ever thin from appetite to dessert but nothing was good . I gave one star for ambience only and also service was very poor .

Indian is my favorite food on the planet, so I was super hopeful that this place would be amazing.. And it was! Fabulous naan and chicken korma, decent wine selection and fairly priced. Our waiter was also very friendly and accommodating. HIGHLY recommended!!

I am the pickiest eater on earth and every restaurant always screws up my food because of the way I order it. Not House of India! I ordered Tandoori Shrimp, sauce on the side, dry roti, and rice. It was the best Indian meal I have had in a long time and everyone in the restaurant was delightful when I picked it up. Also, the to go containers were sturdy and kept my food warm, and I got a lovely handled grocery bag with a sturdy bottom instead of the awful plastic bags I usually get that result in my food falling all over my car. Told you I was picky! I can not say enough about the food. It was fresh, beautifully presented, aromatic and delicious. In fact, I called the restaurant to thank them for a happy, delicious experience. I can not wait to eat there again!

Being an Indian guy who has recently moved here, I am always excited to to try out new Indian places in Franklin and had heard good things. Unfortunately I found House of India to be a huge disappointment and over priced due to watery curries. My wife and I ordered the vegetable khorma, chicken tikka masala and saag paneer. Saag was good but the other 2 were almost all liquid. The Chicken Tikka had a single chicken peice about the size of a tennis ball. The Khorma had some random veggies floating around and resembled a thin soup. These dishes are supposed to be somewhat liquidy-but not basically soup. Also troublesome was how the cashier smugly said he shouldn't accept the coupon on a mobile device versus print but would "make it work" he gave a warning to print it out next time. Nevermind the fact that pretty much any place will now grab the coupon off the device. A better pick is Barwachi Biranyi Point on Bakers Bridge. More casual ambience but MUCH better food and lower prices.

I lived in Southeast Asia for a few years when I was younger and ever since then I have had a very special place in my heart for good Indian food. House of India brought me back to my time overseas from the first bite, and made me want more as soon as I was done. I went with my family and had the Chicken Makhani, Lamb Vindaloo, and Dahl Maharani. All of them were amazing, and I even ordered another Chicken Makhani for lunch the next day.

Ambience is so so. They used to run a restaurant on West End.....and food was excellent there. After they opened HOI, we expected same food quality......turned out food was worse than mediocre....salty.....not tasty at all. Unless they get their food act together, I will not risk eating there again.

There are many luxuries in life that are worth indulging in. The ambiance is great here, they play Bollywood music videos and the chairs are so comfy. The service here is amazing. The waiters were friendly and helpful with choosing a dish. I enjoyed the sweet mango lassi, which tasted very delicious. I had the Rogan Josh, which is lamb in a curry sauce, it was nice and decadent. I could cut the lamb piece with a butter knife. At the end we enjoyed a sweet rice pudding which was Soooooo good. I would really recommend this place if you love Indian food.

I didn't intend for today to become the early anniversary celebration that it became, but since I had a card ready and at my disposal, it evolved into just that...an early celebration of our wedding vows. We had a phenomenal Indian dinner, complete with rosewater ice cream for desert. The vindaloo and raita were so delicious that I broke Lent and dipped hot, fluffy naan into both to continue enjoying the flavors. The service was second to none. Everyone was eager to ensure that our dining experience was of the highest caliber. This was hands down THE BEST Indian restaurant I have EVER been to. I have never seen an Indian restaurant with so many options to choose from! I could eat every meal here for weeks and still not have the same meal twice. Hmmmmm. This gives me an idea....

It was our first time here. We ordered the Chicken Korma, Chicken Tikka Masala, Tandoori Chicken, garlic naan and Kashmiri Naan. Everything was excellent - the staff, the service, and most of all, the food. We did not expect it to be so good. Wow!

I pass this place on my way home from work and god i wish i had stopped in much sooner!!! My brother and sister came to visit me and we went there today.Excellent service almost overwhelmingly good. The best i've been treated at a restaurant ever. We picked two dishes and i asked what im guessing was the manager or head waiter to pick two dishes. The food was on point. The service was on point. the experience was on point beginning to end. Fine dining style service under 30 dollar prices awesome food generous portions(took most of it home very filling) what more could you ask for!!

I would say this is almost as good as any Indian place I've ever been to. Ok, 1 place in Houston was lights out, but this place is REALLY good. The service is fantastic. The guys that work there are so nice and practically falling over themselves to be nice and helpful. For some reason other places make you feel like you have to fight to get more naan, but these guys are johny on the spot with it. Such a relief. Great food. Great place. I usually wouldn't give a 5 star, but there's no 4 1/2 star and it's better than the other Indian places in town.

I have had Indian food in New York City, London, and many other places around the world. If you want to know where to go for the best service, best food, and best feel of atmosphere for Indian, you must go here! It is the best I've ever had! Ranjeet and his crew are so personable, prompt, and don't even get me started on the food. I highly highly recommend the chicken tika masala and their mango yogurt drink. Wow! I will be coming back soon and spreading the word!

Top notch Indian food. You will be hard pressed to find better in Nashville. While the buffet is good try out their dinner service. Also, the service is remarkable. The owner and his employees will go out o their way to ensure you have an enjoyable experience.

This IS the crew, as Crabby noted, from West End in Nashville who sold bombay palace to other owners and relocated to this fine locale on Caruthers pkwy ~2months ago in late 2013. They are AWESOME and represent the best Indian food in The area of williamson & davidson counties- I've eaten at all of them over the past 10years. Their owner takes pride in learning regulars. We're thrilled the chef is the same also and The food quality and quantity remains superb for takeout- esp Chicken Tikka Masala & Malai Kofta. I expect their business to be BOOMING in this Franklin location once the word spreads! I look forward to dining in when family is in town too, as the new space looks great.
