Bodeli Sushi Restaurant Menu

This is a real favorite of ours for sushi, and we miss not being over that way as much as we used to -- but have been able to stop for lunch several times recently. It's fun to have the combination of the menu and the little surprises going by on the conveyer belt. The owners are very nice people, and we always feel welcome.

Having been to a few conveyor belt sushi spots I was quite disappointed. My biggest complaint is that you have no idea what you are buying. Everything is covered and nothing is labeled. What is riding the conveyor is in my opinion nothing more than low-end rice balls. Little fish, lots of rice, heavy sauce and some presentation. There is a menu that you can order from which may have been a better option in hindsight. Service is one server for the entire place, so getting drink refills or a check can be challenging. There are 2 other sushi places on the same street, I would consider them.

I have been to Japan, and experienced conveyer belt sushi in Tokyo Station. Though I appreciate the fact that a place like Bodeli exists in the Nashville area, I honestly can't recommend it. And I'm not saying that because I've eaten sushi in Japan. I would go to a handful of Nashville sushi restaurants before Bodeli. Sushi seemed to have been sitting on the conveyer belt for quite a while. I'm talkin' fairly brown avocado, folks. Aside from sushi, both maki rolls and nigiri, the entrees Bodeli serves are really straight forward and tasted short of phenomenal. I think the fun of a place like this is that you DON'T know what to expect, like going to a traditional Dim Sum restaurant. But despite the novelty, I can't recommend this restaurant.

This place has more going for it because of the conveyor system, each order on the conveyor is a half of a regular order, and individually is cheap enough, but i had 5 plates, and side salad, and my bill was about 18 dollars. If I had it to do over again, I would definitely order the items fresh off the menu, unless I was in a hurry or something. Would be good if you only had a 30 minute lunch and wanted to drop in for a quick bite, but the sushi stayed on the conveyor too long in my opinion. Definitely a fun place to go just to see the spectacle of it all, but there are definitely better sushi places out there. So maybe go once for the fun, and pick what looks good as it comes by, but if you want to be sure what your are getting, and want it made fresh, order form the menu.

Not great sushi. But the novelty of having the conveyor belt always delivering something new to the table has a certain appeal. And the color code pricing avoids that surprise at the end of the meal of having to wash dishes to cover the check. If there was a 3 1/2 star rating it would be more appropriate. But it just doesn't deserve a 4.

This was my first conveyer belt sushi experience. While the sushi was decent, most of the pieces had something spicy added to them, and I prefer non-spicy rolls. I also experienced the same problem as mentioned previously with not knowing exactly what you're getting, as they plates are not labeled. We sat in front of one of the sushi chefs, and he was kind enough to tell us what each one was, but I guess it's probably better for them to be labeled as opposed to constantly bugging the chef. The chef, however, was very nice, friendly and curteous. Unique rolls to try are the Tina Roll (with thin lemon slices on top), the Strawberry roll and the Ashley roll (includes jalapenos, but it was still not too terribly spicy for me). I thought the prices were slightly less for the serving size when comparing to how much you would normally get with a full roll. This makes for a good way to try out several different rolls.

Some coworkers and I eat here maybe twice a month and moderately enjoy it. The sushi is not the best and it can be expensive ($14 for the buffet), but the service is attentive and friendly and the rotating bar that you sit at is very convenient. When I'm feeling picky I don't bother coming here, when I want something easy and good enough I do.

I love that a rolling sushi bar exists in Nashville. The sushi isn't out of this world, but it's good if you're on your lunch hour in the Cool Springs area. My co-workers and I frequent Bodeli often for lunch, but usually on a "paycheck Friday" as it is on the high side for lunch tabs. I usually don't get out of there without paying $12-14 alone. I have found that I enjoy more ordering from the take-out menu and getting the hibachi rice. It's delicious hibachi-style rice without the hibachi price.

Conveyer belt sushi is always a fun place to eat with friends and a great way to try sushi for the first time. Bodeli is a nice place to do all this. They do not have the real tradition pieces you experts might be looking for, but what they do have is great. One thing you must have is the Tina role. You can run in get a quick dinner at the bar or enjoy a long happy hour.

Love love love this place. The people are great, and if you are a regular, they start making your favorite sushi as you walk in the door. You can get all you can eat sushi off the conveyor belt, plus miso soup and salad for $14.99. It's not the best sushi in the world, but it's an incredible deal and we love it!

I have been dying to do conveyor belt sushi, god knows why but it just seemed like it would be a hoot. The concept is that the rolls and sushi come around with different colored stripes on the plate. The plates are priced according to color and they range from $1 up. I was kind of disappointed. The sushi was OK I guess. I think what disappointed me was that on the $3-4 plates, you were only getting a half serving of whatever roll came by (only 3 pieces) and also you really weren't sure exactly what was in it so I had a few duds. Anyway, I just was expecting it to be really sophisticated and cutting edge and you were just paying more for average sushi to get sent around to you on a conveyor belt. There is menu food to order and I haven't tried any of that. Maybe that's more enticing. Since I have found another Sushi place in the area that I like a whole lot better, namely Saki, it's hard for me to keep trying it out.

Ok so came here last week to try the all you can eat dinner hoping to get a good deal and get my sushi fix without breaking my bank! Unfortunately this did not happen. Don't get me wrong I am not super picky and I do understand that you can't expect super quality sushi for a low cost but the sushi here was truly lacking. The conveyor belt moved slow as molasses our whole experience took over an hour just from waiting on the roll I wanted to make it over to my seat and that was if I got lucky and someone else didnt snatch it up before me. The same three rolls were on the belt the whole time I was there and they consisted of crab or shrimp tempura. I was hoping for a spicy tuna roll or something with some raw fish! Anyway after eating the same roll over and over and waiting I finally got bored with it and stopped eating. My date of course was determined to at least get his money's worth and had about 6 plates (each plate has about 4 pieces) and the sushi chef cut him off. Why is it called all you can eat if you are rudely going to cut someone off? So after that we got up, paid our 15.95 each and left. Big waste of time and money. Conveyor belt was cool to experience but I don't see myself going back. Choices were limited, process was slow, staff was unfriendly.

So i have been here twice and still on the fence about this place. I guess it's perfect for somebody who is new to sushi and wants to try it but stay on the safe side. Especially if you go for lunch and do the all you can eat for $12. The price should have warned me, but I guess I got caught up in the moment. They should call it "all you can eat rolls" because there was NO sashimi or nigiri offered, not to mention the rolls were about as basic as they come. I definitely felt like I was tricked but for $12 what can you expect. Doubt I'll be back but if you're in the mood for California rolls and think conveyor belts are cool, this place is perfect!

Blech. I'll say this upfront - there seems to be a discrepancy between lunch and dinner reviews so maybe that's why I was so displeased with this place as I went for lunch. First of all, the music they play is really weird and really loud - a mixture of languages and sounds like contemporary Christian/80s rock/elevator music. And LOUD. I had a business lunch here and felt like we were shouting. Second, the conveyor belt concept is cool and something I'd only experienced abroad but here the offerings were paltry and not good. Almost EVERYTHING that went past was A. fried B. contained cream cheese (not a fan in sushi) or C. was fried and had cream cheese. There were no fresh ingredients, no spicy rolls, and very little raw fish - lots of tempura shrimp and crab. Really, really disappointing as I like to actually eat sushi when I go to a sushi joint. I ordered unagi (eel) nigiri because the conveyor food was so paltry, and that too was disappointing. Limp, discolored, and tasted ok but looked so strange that I couldn't finish it. Really bummed, I was hoping to find a decent, inexpensive sushi option but I won't be going back unless coerced.

Pretty good sushi for the price. No escolar on my visit but the hamachi, yellowtail, salmon, and tako was great but the mackerel was a bit fishy. The restaurant was completely empty at 1:00 which was a bit disconcerting for a business lunch. Being from out of town I really trusted yelp on this one.

Conveyor Belt Sushi is a fun gimmick, but in the end that's really all it is. Its a great thing to do maybe once. But I cannot stress enough, as others have, the many shortcomings.. First, the lack of labeling. My girlfriend and I were lucky because we had the undivided attention of the Sushi chef, but we had not been sitting at the bar, we would have had no way of knowing most of the time what we were eating. Bodeli would be doing itself a huge favor by somehow indicating what you were trying. Second of all, many of the rolls came in 3 pieces instead of 4. This made for some difficult math between two people. How do you eat half a roll? Perhaps the intention was that each person try their own, but that's not very romantic, and given how long it can take for the conveyor to make one revolution, its also not very practical. Still, it wasn't a horrible experience. The Sushi Chef was very friendly and the rest of the staff was very attentive. Its not that there was anything wrong with the place, just that it needs to make a few friendly modifications to make the experience more enjoyable overall.

Great place to go. What so folk see as a problem (lack of labeling) I see as a good thing because it leads to experimentation. And you are not limited to what you see on the belt, you can always ask the chef for requests. They also have a 2 for 1 happy hour that includes sake. Maybe not the absolute best sushi in town, but pretty good.

I have no idea how this restaurant received 4 stars. This is amateur sushi...if even that. I was hoping to have a good meal since I had traveled from Knoxville for a meeting. I spent $40 on the worse meal I have ever had. What a disappointment! I am more upset, however, that they received 4 stars. YUCK!

We sometimes make the 40 minute trip just to have lunch here. Granted, the Cool Springs area is covered over in lunch spots, but when looking for a special lunch experience this place is a winner. The quickly produced rolls made on the spot by the sushi chefs are basic, but they do take special requests and really want to make you happy. Don't be afraid to ask. The kitchen adds spring rolls, potstickers, rice, and cut oranges to the conveyor belt during high traffic time. If you convince a friend to go with you that is not a sushi fan they can order off the menu such items as teriyaki chicken with rice, etc. When our server found out our young son requested Bodeli's as his special lunch choice during spring break, she brought him out a complementary fresh cut pineapple boat that was a nice presentation and perfect palate cleanser. We've been many times and will continue to make trips to Bodeli's Sushi.

If I could I wouldn't even give it this. We went in long after the lunch rush hour and there were either two or three groups of two people. The guy behind the sushi bar said the waitress would be with us soon. We waited. And waited. And waited. The covers on the plates were a textured plastic so you had a hard time seeing what the rolls were and they were not labeled. After at least 10 minutes she finally appeared with menus. As my daughter asked questions about how cold she tell what each roll was, to which the reply was that they don't have labels and they know what is in some of them, I took one look at what I wanted and gasped at the price and how little you get. I am used to getting a Bento Box with tempura, a California roll, rice, soup and salad and for about $2 less than tempura and rice was here. We got up and left and went elsewhere.

It was just average...the sushi was okay. Tried a couple of time for lunch. It was $12.95 all u can eat sushi from the conveyor . all the roll was greasy.a lot of tempura stuffed rolls.and the rice is somewhat hard to chew.......Not worth it at all.

Very fresh and tasty bites. Very friendly service and quick in and out. I had the crunchy shrimp roll and a spider roll. Then tried the belt sushi which was a spicy crab roll. All very good and tasted fresh. Miso soup and salad as well to go with lunch.

In a moment of extreme weakness I agreed to eat mass produced "sushi" off a conveyer belt. It was detestable. Trichinosis ladened raw chicken would have been a better option. 95% of the rolls had (k)rab as the "fish", which was probably a good thing given the low quality of the rolls. I'm certain had they actually served rolls with salmon, yellow tail, tuna, etc people would be falling over outside of the door. I was encouraged to try one of the fried rolls and it's likely the cause of my current pain. Ever try to fry a twinkie or any other porous food? In order to keep it from soaking up oil you must get the oil extremely hot and just flash fry it otherwise it'll soak up oil like a sponge. Well, Bodeli takes the approach that they're frying chicken and leave rolls in the frier for 3 times longer than needed causing it to absorb exorbitant amounts of oil. As I took a bite it tasted like I was sucking vegetable oil out of rice. I was actually relieved when offered Miso soup and a salad. The excitement dissipated quickly after the first taste of each. The soup was lukewarm water with a hint of miso and two squares of tofu. Being a big fan of salad with ginger dressing I eagerly moved on to the salad to quell the scurvy taste my tongue was experiencing. The dressing tasted like pureed ginger wite a little bit of water added to turn it into a paste. If you're looking for a place to make ordering sushi at McDonalds a good idea, this is your place. If you are looking for food that is flavorful, unique, and exciting, move along. The only saving grace of Bodeli is they have Sriracha readily available to mask the repulsiveness.

As a huge fan of both sushi and trains, I thought I would love Bodeli. Sadly, it was among the top ten most disappointing eating experiences of my 13 years in Middle Tennessee. The conveyor is a sad, sad unrefrigerated farce. It features underwhelming and creatively unappetizing plates of unidentified items. Room temp sushi slowly circling the drain- yum! My guests and I enjoyed laughing at the tiny portions, clearly store-bought gyozas and unhealthy pallor on all the food. My personal favorite was how the train encircled the functional innards of the restaurant and I spent my meal ogling a filthy looking fridge and stacks of random supplies laying on the ground. Classy! Bizarrely despite the subpar tastiness and overall air of griminess, it was actually pretty expensive compared to other sushi in town. The service was pretty good.

I got a Groupon for 25$ for 12$ and it said no where in the fine print dine in only! I had my 3 week old baby and wife in the car and they made us come inside and eat!! Not a fan of this place! Sushi was ok.

  • Rei H.

Disappointing. Every roll tasted the same with mediocre fillings like yam and cream cheese. No real fish is used, just imitation crab and the rice obviously wasn't fresh - dry and tasteless (no sushi vinegar). Also this place usually only has one server, so getting a hold of them can be difficult.

    (1)
  • Sam L.

Has a sushi train but it is bad sushi. They don't really have high quality fish in their rolls and they pull a lot of cheap filling (i.e. cream cheese, rice) to compensate for the lack of ingredients. The salad is tasty compared to rest of food here. Best way to describe the place is the Japanese version of Golden Corral. Kids might like the novelty, but I would rather take them to Chuck E Cheese.

Despite the lack of variety in the conveyor belt sushi plates, like they had in their hay-day, I still love this place. After skimming through everyone's reviews, I'd agree with most of them. It's a family operated business. They are all very hard-working and kind. Sometimes the wait for service can be slow if it's busy, but I don't mind much. Their Special Volcano Roll is out of this world! They know I'm going to order it when I arrive. The prices are not too bad considering it's not grocery store sushi. Running a sushi business in the heart of Cool Springs must be difficult because renting the space is expensive...at least that's my take on why they don't use very much fish in the rolls.

My boyfriend took me here one night after I left work after he told me about the conveyor belt that they had during the lunch hour. I wasn't too hungry for sushi so I decided to order some gyoza and an order of chicken fried rice, which is one of my favorite foods. The gyoza was delicious and very tasty...it was also the first time that I had tasted gyoza that was not steamed. The chicken fried rice was amazing...loads of chicken and rice and plenty of veggies as well. I normally don't like broccoli in my fried rice because some restaurants use too much of it and it overpowers the rice. But this meal had enough in it so that it didn't take over the entire plate. The one thing that I didn't like was that it didn't have enough egg in it. I love egg in my fried rice but this plate barely had any on it. Otherwise, the food is awesome and the staff is very friendly. I hope to come back again to try out the conveyor system. :)

I've only been here twice, and it's been because someone else wanted to go. That being said, isn't the best sushi you'll ever have, but it's good. They have not only sushi rolls, but also fried rice, egg rolls, dumplings, fresh orange, and even fried bananas. My first trip here I was pretty confused - I just didn't know how it "worked". I realized quickly that during dinner hours, each plate has a colored ring, and each color corresponds to a price. So, as you choose your plates from the conveyor belt, the server tallies them up and that's how they charge you. However, at lunch, it's "all you can eat" for $12.95 I believe. It's easy to overdo it for sure! The best suggestion I can make is to come around 12-12:30, when the lunch rush hits. This is when I've seen a good variety, and since there are a lot of people in the restaurant, items are moving quicker & thus fresher. We came this last time around 12, and the place was packed. As we were leaving (around 1:15), however, the restaurant had thinned out and I noticed some rolls had been on the belt for at least 15 or more minutes.

Bodeli Sushi was a pleasant experience, both my husband and I are more experienced sushi eaters and prefer more raw fish, when we asked if we could order off the menu that was still included in the all you can eat price they were VERY reluctant but surprised us with eel, which was nice. We ate a ton and felt pretty satisfied and had fun in the process. I'll totally go again for sure!

I dropped in to Bodeli for an early lunch on a weekday. I'm a huge sushi fan, and had been wanting to try it for a while. The staff were very friendly and the service was great. I loved the variety of things that they had on the belt, as well - it was similar to what I've had in Asia and major US cities in sushi conveyor places. I had shumai, a spring roll, and 3 different sushi plates, all for $12. I repeat: I went in starving and left stuffed, on sushi, for $12. Very reasonable. I also thought that the quality of the sushi rolls and items was very good. My shumai and spring roll were both hot, etc. To all the people complaining about the availability/cost/etc of the conveyor dishes - that's the way it always is for these. If you ordered an entire roll, you would pay $7-8, or more, so it makes sense that they are giving half portions at about half of the price - it is not overpriced, and you get to try different things instead of having just one roll. You don't really need to know what the official name of a roll is to enjoy it - if you're really concerned, watch the chefs making the rolls and ask for a plate of what they've just made - you've now seen everything that went into it and know that it's fresh.

I went back for the first time in several months tonight and I must admit, I think I seriously misjudged this place after my first visit. Let me preface this by saying that my girlfriend and I went after 9, just an hour before they closed. The food is actually really good and the wait staff is really nice. My girlfriend is a huge fan of chicken fried rice and save for the lack of eggs in her chicken fried rice, it was absolutely FANTASTIC! Never have I tasted a fried rice with broccoli flawlessly integrated into the mix. As for the sushi... it was perfect, absolutely melt-in-your mouth perfect, I can't complain about it, it was really good. This place has definitely clawed its back up to one of the best sushi restaurants in my book, and in no way does the novelty of the conveyor belt influence my rating. Actually when my girlfriend and I where there, we where the only ones there and the belt had been turned off. Don't get me wrong, I love the novelty of the conveyor-belts, but with them not in operation, I really got to experience the greatness of their restaurant for what it is at its purest level. Oh, and not only was the sushi and chicken fried rice amazing, but so were our appetizers. I got shrimp dumplings which were cooked perfectly, and far better than the frozen ones I bought in college. My girlfriend's gyoza was also quite tasty and flavorful. Finally, the miso soup and salad that came with my sushi were both delicious and refreshing after a long day. I hope to return soon for more sushi deliciousness and another fun conveyor-belt experience.

Looks like i'm the big bad wolf! yow! I tried this place because of the reviews on Yelp. I did the buffet sushi via conveyor belt. I'm a huge sushi person and always have been but it wasn't as good as people have made it out to be. The ingredients used for the sushi don't seem very fresh. There wasn't a wide variety on the conveyor belt. It also seemed like many of the items had a raw fish on them. There were only a couple others we could try that didn't have raw fish. Except those weren't ever tasty or fulfilling to my taste buds. It's going to take me awhile to give this place another chance.
