Every time that I visit my friend in Kalamazoo we go to Big Burrito. It's your basic, easy, cheap Tex-Mex and I'm a fan. Just to clarify: this is not traditional Mexican food, you don't go here expecting either traditional or healthy. Orders are placed at the counter for both eat in and carry out. The options are fairly basic and the menu is not extensive: tacos, nachos, tostadas etc. with your choice of protein. I generally order the tacos (they have a regular size and mini). I like their soft corn shells that they serve double with each taco. Each is topped with lettuce, tomato, white cheese and sour cream. If you check in to yelp, there is a free soda coupon.

Food is good but you got to go into the store to get it. Do not order on line as it will be f**ed up guaranteed. Do not phone it in either. Order food there and eat it there or you will be sorry. Honest

Excellent food and service. It's certainly an absolute must do to visit and enjoy whenever you are in the zoo. The chorizo anything at this place, burrito, taco, ect. Is the best chorizo you will ever have. The chips and salsa is phenomenal. The cheese quesadilla is also amazing. This place was put on the map decades ago, and it still is a must visit on my list when in Kzoo.

Not Mexican at all. I'm Mexican and I'd say that this is same thing as taco bell just fake Mexican food. The salsa is too salty and the meat is low quality with a lot of fat. Nothing really nice in this place.

Have you ever had a "big" burrito? I don't mean one that kinda fills you up but one you can't hardly finish, with free chips and salsa. The location on Centre even had a salsa bar where you can have as much or little of their house made salsas and pico. The open kitchen area is pretty cool so you can see them making their authentic Mexican food. Lunch time can be pretty busy but if you go during and off time you can get in and out in short order. I've never had a disappointing experience here and nobody I know has either.

Always love the BB!! Don't love the raise in prices and drop in portions so much. My husband's order was wrong, but it's almost always delicious. Dislike the switch from Coke to Pepsi It's a decent place, but was WAY better 10 years ago!!!

Surprisingly I never tried this place in college, shocking I know. My husband loves it and finally convinced me to give it a try. I've since tried it twice, steak burrito and chicken burrito. Just meh. I like how the grill the burrito and add a crisp, but the meat is lacking seasoning and flavor in my opinion. My husband insists that's the way it's meant to be. Well, I know it's a well lived spot by many and certainly reasonably priced but I'm not sure I'll try it a third time.

I get food there about once a month. My kryptonite is the steak and egg quesadilla. I've had burritos, nachos, tacos, torta, and tamales. I will exclude the torta and tamales from my review since I haven't tried them sober. The burritos are good size but in my opinion lack flavor, I usually have to add lots of salsa which I like anyway but I think maybe the meat is missing some seasoning or it could just use some cilantro and onions. I haven't had the tacos enough to judge one way or the other. The nachos are also pretty generous in size but can be overly greasy and everything is on the first layer. I must admit, one time I had it with chicken and chorizo and it was amazing. I will have to try them and the tacos for a more fair judgement. All in all a solid place and I'm always content with the food. The late hours are a definite plus!

This place is amazing. Quality food with the speed I need to get in and out in a timely manner. Customer service is great and the new rewards program really helps for frequent customers like myself.

Recently, I told someone that Big Burrito was one of my favorite places to eat, and their response was, "I thought people only went there at 2 am when they're completely wasted and the bars have closed." While this is true, it is actually a busy place during sober-people hours as well. The food is good and tastes authentic. The salsa - both the pico an the green- is my favorite in town, and my kids love the guacamole. My husband and I both always get the tacos Mexicanos, which come with chicken, cilantro, and onion. The tamales, though calorie-laden, are amazing. I like that you can see the kitchen; transparency is appreciated in fast food!!

We had grilled chicken tacos Mexicanos, a beef tamale, and small chicken quesadilla (the two year old ate that). Still the best beef tamales I have ever had (I have tried dozens, including homemade, family recipes) and now that I have switched to Mexican style tacos, I am hooked.

We ordered the burrito and quesadilla with the veggies. Not a fan of the tortillas used for the quesadillas, but the taste was really good. Their salsa is pretty good too!

So sad. This used to be so good. Marty, if you still own this what has happened?? Started enjoying BB over 12 years ago. The best burrito and chips ever. Then the bar came...how nice to enjoy a beer and a burrito. Now it is a sloppy burrito, with too much fluid which drips and sides that flop like a dead fish-- and drinks come after your entrees which you waited for...but drinks come only if you remind the guy bringing your food. No longer the smaller operation with authentic cooking and a good vibe service. Tonight when we reminded our mutton chopped server about our beers, he went and got them ( with a put upon sigh) and delivered them right over top our food. Beer was dripping from his hairy hand onto my burrito. So disgusting. I wish it was just us, but the table next to us had to ask for their apple coronado twice after waiting 30 minutes. Really??? Trash was overflowing, tables not bussed, food not very good, and certainly not what it used to be, and service was so poor. A big loss to people who are over 21 and not eating at 2:00 am. If you want families and couples to eat at BB, then management needs to do some work. This is not a one night review. It is cumulative visits and a steady decline in the past year. The two stars come from the early years. Tonight would have garnered 0 or 1.

Vegans have two burrito options (just ask them to leave off the cheese and sour cream): the vegetarian, and the grilled veggie. If you're not vegetarian, the egg and chorizo burrito is the winner, hands-down. Sounds like breakfast, but tastes like awesome.

People who say The Big Burrito is only post-bar food are wrong. Yes, it's greasy. But many of our finest foods are. This was a frequent stop for me during my college days and I recently returned for the first time in a long time. The place seems to have gotten a serious makeover. It looks less like the back-alley kitchen it really is, and more like a legit restaurant. I will say that the "big burrito" I ordered seemed much lighter than I remembered. Perhaps they're skimping on ingredients to save money. No matter. From the crispy tortilla to the gooey cheese, this is a wonderful indulgence. If it makes you feel better to say it's only good when you're drunk, that's fine. Say whatever you want. It's fun to go slumming every now and then. I've only enjoyed Big Burrito while stone sober... and I make no apologies. I will shout it from the mountaintops. I love it. It also seems they've added a bar since my last visit. Now you have no excuse not to go. Also, you stand a better-than-average chance at being shot or run over while in this parking lot late at night, so that's always fun. Viva El Big Burrito!

Open late (plus). I ordered nachos...they were more like a salad...in a bowl....under a ton of lettuce. Not my idea of nachos. :( My hubby had the fajitas ..they were great!

My bf and I were staying at a nearby hotel and got the midnight munchies, so we drove around and luckily found this place. I got a taco salad with grilled chicken and my bf got a chicken burrito. And the super friendly staff gave us complementary chips and salsa while we waited for our food. Everything was delicious...In fact, we enjoyed our food so much that we came back the NEXT DAY for lunch and ordered the "Don't Even Think About It!"

This didn't taste like a real burrito to me, more like an American burrito. I was surprised, it looks like a quick grab n' go joint, but you can actually dine-in and they serve alcohol. Ordered a big burrito, if you don't have a big appetite, I would suggest the smaller size. I had to take half with me. I was a little put off by the salsa being "ready to go" in a bowl under the counter and the red plastic food trays being stacked on top of the salsa bowls, but i digress. The chicken was seasoned nicely, a crispy burrito shell, which added a nice texture, steak was also seasoned nicely according to friends. All I could taste was the seasoned meat, it seemed like the flavors of the cheese, beans, lettuce , etc. all ran together. It didn't taste like Mexican food to me, but I still thought it was a decent burrito.

I resisted going here for years, thinking it was a fast food place. Could not have been more wrong. Whenever I'm in the vicinity, I stop in for a pork burrito. Flavors are great, portions are large, food seems fresh, service is friendly, and their green sauce is to die for: I have been tempted to walk out the door with 4 bottles of it.....

The burritos are pretty unique. Not like other burritos but I was very impressed. I will get the same thing everytime I go here. The restaurant/bar is pretty cool with tvs and a tiki bar.

The food here satisfies. It's not 100% authentic and it is somewhat Americanized, but it's still definitely good. I always feel like someone's mom prepared my food with love in a normal kitchen when I get the food here. It's not pretentious food or a pretentious atmosphere at all. It's just very down-to-earth. Also, the prices are very reasonable. The other big pull is that they are open late-night. And the fact that they deliver is pretty amazing. The food is much better freshly made at the restaurant, but it's still awesome that you can get it delivered to your doorstep.

I ordered the Tacos Mexicanos from Big Burrito--1 fish, 1 barbacoa, and 1 chicken. These soft corn tortilla tacos don't look like much with just onion, cilantro and a lime wedge, but they are the bomb--especially with the red sauce, but go sparingly, it is HOT! I don't know that I would order the fish again (though it was good and fresh), but the pork and chicken were fabulous. I see from the reviews that some have complained that menu items at Big Burrito are too Americanized, and they are likely correct, but they should give the Tacos Mexicanos a try. These are very much like the traditional cantina style tacos I have had on visits to Mexico.

Best ever. My family and I have been going here since I was really young. The food here is cheap and satisfying. It will delight your taste buds. The employees are helpful. But bottom line the food is exceptional.

It's not bad sober, but it's rll good when you're drunk. It's open for pretty much anytime you could ever want messikan food. Not too authentic, but really? You're in Kalamazoo, what do you expect? The burritos are big, filling, and totally what you'd expect from a place like this. Check it out, preferably after the bar, that's when it's best.

One of my top 5 favorite places to eat in Kalamazoo. I bring all out of town guests to Big Burrito and they're always pleased...in face they request a Big Burrito each returning visit. The food is fast and amazingly taste. I love, love, love big burrito.

Ever since we celebrated my 21st birthday here this place has become a running joke in my family. The food is palatable, at best--tho I'd take a mediocre, day-old and cold veggie bay-area burrito over the BB any day.

I used to eat here alllll the time. They have amazing hot sauce (red and green) and that is what makesto food good. By itself, the food is only ok. They've undergone renovations, got rid of the good specials and raised the prices so I don't really go anymore. I do miss the hot sauce...

They need to step they game up. Every time I bit into my burrito, it would piss out a stream of burrito juices out of the bottom. The employees hate their jobs and let it be known. Inconveniently located next to the worst 7-11 in the state.
