This is a beautiful property, set back off the main downtown dining and shopping area, but a very short walk away from it. The property is immaculate, the grounds expansive, and the decor and landscaping done to a high standard. There are several rooms available for all price points/styles, and breakfast is not to be missed - as Jim encourages you to "Eat-a, Eat-a, make-a poppa proud!" Wine hour is very nice too. Great property in a great town near Torch Lake.
It just doesn't get any better than this! We've stayed in B&Bs from California to Scotland, relatively inexpensive to expensive spas but this one dotted every 'i', crossed every 't' and at a very reasonable cost. The entire experience was like staying in a friend's home, comfortable shoes-off comfort with beautiful furnishings that you aren't afraid to enjoy. Comfort, comfort, comfort with amazingly delicious food (fresh fruit with flavored balsamic vinegar, tender and rich egg scramble, bacon covered with crushed pecans and drizzled with maple syrup. Seriously.)
WOW. So happy I found this B&B! If you are looking for a classic and ideal B&B, this is it! Beautifully restored 1800s farm house, expansive landscape, great hosts, amazing food, and so much more. I loved the peaceful surroundings and comfort. My fiance and I definitely felt at home. Every space was available for the guests enjoyment. We played chess (one of the many games available to play) and enjoyed time on the porch and the comfortable and relaxing Sitting room. I can't wait to return for a longer stay!

My girlfriend and I stayed here this past weekend, mostly due to the fact that it's a block away from Short's Brewing Company (the reason for our visit). We'd never stayed at a B&B before, and for some reason expected an elderly couple to be running the place and for it to be very stuffy. To the contrary, a younger couple greeted us as we arrived and gave us a quick tour of the place - a river view with a hot tub, commons area with a pool table/stereo/couches/etc. We were welcomed to bring some beer back from Short's and relax in this common area. We stayed in the Garden Room, which included a shared deck on the river - just gorgeous. Everything in the room was satisfactory, albeit a little old lady-ish. There's no doubt that we'll be staying here again!
Found Stone Waters Inn online and picked it for a nights stay based on it's closeness to Short's Brewery which is the reason we were stopping there, and it looked unique. The photos on the website do not do it justice at all. It is so homey and welcoming, really beautiful and the location backed right up to a river is perfect. I was a little in awe when we arrived in town after nightfall and saw how adorable this place and town were, a perfect thriving small town. Lot's of common areas to explore from the lounge and free pool table in the lobby (which comes in handy after Shorts closes) to several decks facing the river along with a hot tub and a gazebo I believe. We stayed in the vineyard suite which was awesome, it had the best view of the river and trees and a door to an upper balcony which was perfect to enjoy my morning cup of coffee. My only regret is that we couldn't stay longer because I wanted to live there. :) The owners were also incredibly nice and gave us some other great tips to landmarks and restaurants in nearby towns. (Tunnel of Trees, Legg's Inn) I would stay here every time!
I grew up in Bellaire as a little girl and always thought this place looked so charming from the outside. I had no idea every expectation would be exceeded on the inside. Not only is the staff incredibly friendly and accommodating but the rooms are each so quirky and inviting. The views of the river or downtown are beautiful. You get a wonderful balcony out of each room which is so nice. Everything is perfectly clean. We had an awesome jacuzzi in our room and there is one located outside right by the river as well as a grill and pool table. There's also many different seated areas along the river and the landscaping is beautiful! They tell to to make yourself at home and it truly that feeling. I just absolutely fell in love with the place and we can't wait to go back. We would drive the 4 hours just for this place! I have never wrote a recommendation but I enjoyed my stay so much I feel the need to let everyone know how great this place truly is!

Great place to grab breakfast! Enjoyed the cozy atmosphere and great service! We will be back!
I feel I'm being generous giving 3 stars. 2 of us stopped in Sunday morning before heading downstate and were disappointed. The server was good but it was clear the kitchen staff had no idea what was going on. It took us about an hour to receive our meals (along with everyone else inside) which is way to long for 2 scrambled eggs, hash browns and a pancake. My fiancé received the wrong pancake after the wait but it wasn't worth complaining or sticking around for a new one. Ohh yea by the way that ONE pancake was $4!!! Won't be returning.
I'm so glad we tried this place! Great service! This place is so cute I loved the atmosphere and the motorcycle memorabilia. Very reasonably priced and a great cozy spot! We will be back for sure!

My brother's girlfriend's family has a cottage up here and the hubs and I make it up here once a year now. I enjoy our meal the we have here My brother and I both have celiac and although there are no gluten free buns, they always wrap our burger in lettuce for us. The burger is quite tasty and reasonable as well. We continue to come back each year!
You don't have a lot of options in downtown Bellaire after Short's closes at midnight. If you wanna keep the party alive, you're gonna end up here. I can't speak to the food at this establishment (though other yelpers seem to enjoy it), but I can tell you what I think about the bar. This particular Saturday night there was a DJ and a pretty raucous dance party. I do have to note that the DJ sat at a folding table all night which was a little weird but if you greased his palms a bit he'd play requests so I'll give that a pass. Overall, this seems like a pretty straight forward townie bar in northern Michigan. Nothing to write home about, but nothing wrong with it either.
In town for a conference. We were told by Bob the driver at Shanty Creek this place had great burgers. He was right and a pretty good chicken burrito too! Friendly waitstaff and great prices.

I could have sworn i wrote a review last year? oh well. Still great. Torch lake is awesome. dock side is a cool place to go on your boat and get some food and drink. i got the olive burger and it was really really good. got a side of sweet potato fries but i think the must have eaten some on the way to the table; they didnt give me much. good though. probably a fun place to go for a game or something too or at night to drink and have fun with friends. i was with family so couldnt have that kinda fun. great food though and amazing atmosphere and history.
Dockside is about the setting, especially in the middle of a Michigan summer. The food is pretty good, not great. The water tastes like it has waaay too much iron, but the ambiance is awesome. It's just so calm and inviting, with seating indoor and out. (We sat outside at the picnic tables.) When you are spending a great time at Torch Lake with great friends, it's important to eat while you drink. Stay hydrated. Watch others who are also on vacation, as well as the locals. It would get five stars if the menu was better and the water didn't taste like something out of a Stephen King novel, but it's a must stop in Northern Michigan!
I had tje quesadilla....awesome. get a side of guacamole with it. My companions had burgers that were delicious. Substitute onion rings or sweet potato chips for fries. The best part was the service. Kasey brought me a cold beer and a great meal in a speedy and professional manner. I'll be back!

Moka

102 N Bridge St
Bellaire, 49615
Reviews:
So Moka has evolved into much more than a coffee shop. They are doing quite well as a restaurant (now with a full liquor license) - on the culinary experience scale they fit nicely someplace between the dress-up/special event feeling of LuLu's and the hunters/boaters grunge of the Bellaire Bar, (all on the same street). Their pizza is quite popular and good. The wine shop is a very special thing to have in this area. In the morning, the standout items are the pastries - many of them very good, and a couple that are great. I had a donut fresh from the fryer that KNOCKED ME OUT! I haven't had a donut that good in over a year. However, at the same seating, my wife had a raspberry strudel that wasn't worth finishing. The weak point, for me, continues to be the coffee. While certainly the best around, they don't seem to be able to draw counter help that is cognizant of how decent coffee is prepared. This of course leads to a very irregular experience. Occasionally good, it's more often pretty bad. This morning my wife had a single skim latte and I had a double cappuccino. I won't rattle on about the subjective issues, but the bottom line was neither one of us could taste ANY difference between the two. (Maybe you have to know us to appreciate that - but ask the owners of Zingerman's Coffee, Comet Coffee, or Blue Bottle Coffee if you want a reference). I don't want to harp like an out-of-town effete, and I plan to go back here often, but I also don't want to be dishonest and say this is great coffee when it's not. It is, however, the best available within at an hour's drive. The owners and people behind the counter are great - this is a real solid local's spot - everyone knows everyone and this is a good spot to great your neighbor.
Went on a mini-shopping trip in Bellaire with my niece on a Tuesday morning and we decided to have lunch before going home. She wanted to sit outside, so we opted for Moka. I had the turkey cobb sandwich, which was hearty and terrific with a side of potato salad that was unlike anything I'd had before, seemed to have toasted onions - just very, very tasty. She had the chicken salad with walnuts and dried cherries and some kind of dressing that was excellent, with the cucumber/onion side that was also good. Both sandwiches had good, honest meat, not the salty, deli style kind. Service was friendly and initially prompt, but we were surprised by how long it took (about 20 minutes) to be served our cold sandwiches. But we'd both go back in a second. Would like to go back in the evening and try a pizza and sample some local wine or beer.
My latte was perfect and my barista a gem!

Great spot for lunch or dinner. I have met up with friends from Traverse and we enjoyed our meals and could hold a conversation easily.
So-so. Crab cakes not very good. Pretzel bites and fries were very good. Burger ordered medium rare was completely raw inside, but burger ordered medium had zero pink left. Waitress did a good job trying to make everything right, but the food/price didn't warrant a return trip.
Good vibes at this place, awesome outdoor seating with live music, good beer and music. Could definitely enjoy this spot again on a nice day

'OK' pretty much describes it except for the prices which are way high for this small town and rather average restaurant with not so great service. I've eaten there only once in the last 2 months. One time was okay... Slim Jim type sandwich done well and the service was fine. But there was almost nobody in the place so I'd expect that. Last night we went to have dinner, were seated and then waited a full 20 minutes with still nobody coming to our table to deliver water, or wait on us in any way at all. We got up and walked out, with nobody noticing at all. We seemed irrelevant to them. This is an old local place and has had a number of names and most likely owners. It retains the 'cache' of mostly 'locals', and I have to say mostly people over 65. We are 70 and appeared to be the youngest folks in the place besides the waitress and the bartender. Entrees are very expensive and when they cost that much, the waiter should look clean and maybe even like there is a uniform... of white shirt and black pants..or something. The waitress who was working seemed unkempt, messy hair, and a seemingly dirty apron. I think she may even have been wearing jeans. Small point maybe. But know what you are getting into. I suspect breakfast is fine though I've not had that for years. Oh and the sign is dumb. It is a bull with crossed legs drinking a martini. My family laughingly says it looks like a gay bull... and it does.
Toonie's has very good food, the Prime Rib on Saturday night is outstanding! Come early or they'll be out of the Prime Rib. After dinner, stroll through downtown Bellaire and visit the local shops.
The WORST!!!! The two times I have went here neither time we're the waitresses nice. They we're rude and did not care if we needed anything. In fact the second time after being their for 10 minutes we left we have never been treated so poorly. When we did eat there it wasn't anything that great. If you like decent food and rude people...This is the Place For You!!!!

I've been going here for breakfast with many different friends from Grand Rapids for years, everyone likes it. The price is right for the breakfasts are large. I do believe Nicole from NYC finds things to complain about wherever she goes.
Stopped at Mrs. Pete's for breakfast after reading other Yelp reviews and I was completely disappointed. Their menu shows that one of the "must haves" was their stuffed French toast. Trust me, don't waste your money on it. It was awful. My husband had a breakfast skillet and he didn't mind his although the cheese in it was an American single rather than shredded cheese.
Breakfast all day long. Friendly service. One of my grandparents favorites. You can get tator tots, onion rings, or fries. Biscuits and gravy actually made from scratch. Nothing extraordinary but solid country fair with a smile. Good prices too.
