This place is masquerading as an ice cream shop where you can make sundaes, but really it is a hidden fried food place. We come here at least a couple of times while staying in Ogunquit. Their fried scallops are sweet and not too heavy. Their fried clams are crispy and full-bellied but the last time I popped by they did not have any (tsk, tsk). My oldest son, the lobsta roll enthusiast, loves their rolls here and he is hard to please. Did I mention they have a sundae bar? Oh ... and they great you when you walk in with pieces of their own chocolate or penuche fudge.

Affordable and generous portions (should be two dollar signs, especially compared to the local options). The haddock sandwich was enormous and perfect. Lobster roll was simple and yummy.

Fun summer spot to build your own sundae. Fire pit outside with adirondack chairs as the night cools off-great hang out to chat and people watch. Sundaes a bit pricey but right downtown and convenient by bus stop.

I had the fish and chips, which was great! The owners were very sweet. The only downside was the coleslaw, which was horrible. Otherwise, I really enjoyed my meal.

We had a late afternoon coffee/hot chocolate stop here which was very pleasant. They have outdoor seating of adirondack chairs surrounding an outdoor chimney which was perfect in the chill afternoon. However, the actually drinks themselves were just OK. They ring a bell if you tip them, so be prepared to leave your change less you be the only schmuck not to get the ring of thanks!

LOBSTER ROLL MANIA! I am well traveled and have been to many a fine restaurant - Rose Cove Cafe has the best lobster roll I have ever had the pleasure of eating. Tons of fresh lobster meat (not all chopped to Hell like most places), VERY LITTLE mayo - served on a fresh brioche roll... worth every penny (aprox $16). But wait, there's more... they added fried seafood this year - light batter and not overcooked, the fried seafood platter (scallop, shrimp & whole clams) was also amazing. Most of the fried food in Ogunquit is the Sysco crap that you can find in any pub style restaurant - Rose Cove Cafe is top quality and Frrrrrresh!

Great atmosphere, Loved the fire pit. And it's byob which isn't advertised but such a great option. The food was good and the staff was great. Very accommodating.

Best food in town. You may bring your own wine. Fish and chips was my favorite. Fried scollops was to die for.

We have had lobster rolls at every establishment in OGT over the years, and our favorite, time and time again, is the jumbo lobster roll at Rose Cove. They make their own rolls each morning which is such a nice touch. I was hesitant to order any fried food, but hell, I'm on vacation and our waitress reports it is fried in soy oil which sounds a bit more healthy. We loved the fried green beans and calamari which each came with specialty sauces. Make your own Sundaes - yowza - that was fun and delicious. And the people watching from the porch and the cool fire tables create a perfect summer evening ambiance.

Quaint sidewalk cafe. Good beer and wine selection and lobster roll was delicious Fudge is tasty and the samples are a nice touch. Wine served in a good sized portion. Service is quick and very friendly and attentive.

Good lobster rolls, but beware of the ice cream. One cup of kids ice cream was more expensive than a kids meal. Good food but tourist trap.

We had an impromptu dinner here. I really wasn't hungry so I just had a bowl of fruit salad which was good. My fiancée had a seafood platter which was HUGE-and he said it was "good." I really enjoyed sitting on their deck at night. They have tables with mini fire pits built into them. It's a fun touch that also helps keep you warm. A fun place to sit and people watch!

FOOD POISONING. This place is disgusting. I had the "famous" lobster role and broccoli salad and got food poisoning. I called the restaurant and the female I spoke to handed the phone to the manager telling her "this guy's an ass". I called to report an illness I received from dining at this terrible restaurant and was insulted instead. I ate ONLY the lobster role and broccoli salad I purchased here and have been laying horizontal the remainder of the day. I called to report it and was told that it "takes days" for food poisoning to develop. I'm glad the restaurant employs people with such extensive knowledge of gastrointestinal impairment. They must all be MDs. I wouldn't recommend dining at an establishment that treats its customers the way this one does. It's a direct demonstration of how little they care about the customer experience. The food the other members of my dining party received was also horrible. All the fried foods were dark brown because the restaurant uses old oil. They were heavy and sopping in grease. Thanking about dining here? Give it a pass and head to Cornerstone across the street. They serve untainted food and their staff doesn't insult you.

Stopped in for our anniversary dinner. Wait staff was friendly but after eating, we felt the place would be a better lunch destination rather than for dinner. My wife enjoyed the lobster salad but my lobster bisque and then baked scallops were just OK. The dinner menu seemed limited for anything besides fried seafood.

of all the places to eat in Ogunquit, we think this is the best people watching spot..the fish/chips are as good as it gets in Maine, Fresh flaky haddock, crisp fries, always energetic and happy service.....

Wonderful experience! The lobster salad was the best that I've ever had. The owner came to our table and greeted us and the atmosphere with the fire pits built into the tables made for a perfect evening. I will be coming back for many years to come!

Sorry, not normally one to $&@& on food but restaurant was nothing but previously frozen food thrown into old stale grease. Waitress raved bout the fresh fish and chips. I asked if the "hand cut fries" we're hand cut. She said yes. Asked if the "fresh haddock" was fresh. The fries were the double fried, the kind you get at Burger King or other small family restraints, you know the ones with the little fried particles on the outside. The fish was previously frozen haddock fillets. You can tell because it is stringy and fishy does'nt flake like the fresh. The wings were surprisingly good although they used some kind of Jared sauce, a little like Sweet and sour from a Chinese restaurant. All the fried food had a nasty after taste of old fry oil. The place was empty and that should have been a sign. I normally would of gone somewhere else but the reviews on yelp were decent. Live and learn I guess.

Food was excellent but compared to others in the area serving size was smaller. Service above average but not great - patio and location are hard to beat.

Please don't waste your time and money here. There are so many places to choose from. Been coming here for 10 years from the Cape and if you want good lobster rolls or fish or just a cheeseburger please go just about anywhere else.

The food was excellent and the service was really great. High recommend it. We had the lobster bisque, which was reasonably priced and tasted fantastic! They also gave us free fudge!

After having a hard time finding somewhere to eat and noticed that there were tables available at the Rose Cove, we decided to give it a try. We sat outside and did enjoy the fire pit in the middle of our table. Unfortunately though, that was the only good thing about this place. Although our server was very friendly and pleasant, our food did take a long time to come out. We must have waited an hour. I wish I could say the meal was worth the wait, but it was far from it. My son's steak and cheese sandwich was so fatty that it was hard to chew through. He returned it for a grill cheese, well, their version of a grill cheese which was cheese melted between a hoagie. What?!? Nothing easier to make than a grilled cheese. How can you screw that up? My daughter's chicken nuggets were fried to a crisp drying out the chicken. My husband's burger was uneventful and his beer was hot; my haddock was not too bad. My kids ordered the heavily priced sundae (not worthy of its price tag). All in all an expensive experience which I wouldn't have minded if the food was good. I won't be returning.

My mom & I visit Ogunquit once a year. We always make it a point to have lunch here. We always get clam chowder, lobster bisque, and the broccoli salad. Everything is so delicious!! Thevfudge is really yumny too. Looking forward to eating here in 2 wks!!

Mt first lobster roll was here, and I loved it, not smothered in mayo like I've seen at some places. And if you go here, get the chocolate and sea salt caramel fudge! We bought a pound and its almost disappeared in 2 days! Also if you are an ice cream lover like myself, the Maine black bear is delicious!

We had dinner at Rose Cove the last night of our vacation. We had 3 children under the age of 6 and 5 adults. It is hard to find a place to please all the ages. Well Rose Cove succeeded! The haddock and scallop dishes were a huge hit. The kids nuggets were all white meat and served with a huge slice of watermelon. We loved the casual feel, and Jack Johnson music playing and the BYOB options. The servers and staff were inviting and eager to help. To finish it all off the ice cream sundae bar was delicious. Even the grown-ups indulged. The owner served our ice cream. The family feel to this place is overwhelming and sweet. Pictures of her 4 sons are covering the walls. While she served ice cream she chatted with us and really made us feel she and her staff appreciated our business. We couldn't have asked for a better final dinner in Ogunquit. We are already planning next years trip!

Of the past 5 or 6 years that I have been in Ogunquit this time of year, Rose Cove was only open twice. Luck prevailed this year and I was able to stop in for some Penuche fudge! Yes, other stores sell this type of fudge, but there is something about Rose Cove's that makes it stand out above the rest.. silky smooth, creamy... dare I say melts in your mouth... sure it does! They also offer a limited menu for those peckish moments and offer a great outdoor sitting area to enjoy your time.

After being enticed in to Roses with delicious fudge we enjoyed excellent bowls of clam chowder ,lobster rolls and very friendly staff chatter. Ended lunch with more delicious fudge.

On our last night in Ogunquit, we decided to take our daughter, son-in-law and three grandchildren to the Rose Cove Cafe- hoping for a family-friendly atmosphere that could tolerate children ranging in age from 15 months to six years. We stumbled upon the right place! We went inside to find a table that would accommodate all of us out of the hot sun and a sweet server helped us combine a few tables in the window. There is a great deck out front with lots of tables but the kids had had enough sun that day. You order at the counter and the server brings you your food. It is also BYOB so we brought some beer for the guys. Lots of choices for the kids and adults alike. Two of us got the fried haddock dinner, one got a salad, and another got the scallops. Prices were reasonable and the staff were terrific! They kept our beer on ice until our food came out- which was pretty quick. All of the food was delicious- well prepared and plentiful. Staff (including the owners) checked in on us to see if we needed anything- even though it was a pretty busy night. Everyone was pleasant and attentive to our needs. To top off the great, casual meal was the best part of all- the ice cream sundae bar. The kids picked their ice cream and then loaded up on toppings. We all felt relaxed and thought it was the best meal of the week! I highly recommend this place for everyone. Nothing fancy- but great food, reasonable prices, pleasant atmosphere, and nice people! We will be back!

I built a sundae that wowed the owner at this fun and delectable hot spot in Ogunquit. Yes, it's true. I have not built my own sundae for years or even imagined constructing a paramount sugar experience and yet this past weekend I splurged! We joined a couple friends at the Rose Cove Cafe because my wife was craving ice cream. So, I guess it's her fault that I succumbed to temptation, yet who would blame me. They serve Richardson's ice cream, which is a premiere supplier of ice cream from Middleton. Good base from which to build my monument to over indulgence. My wife did get her vanilla ice cream, while I chose the build your own sundae option. Started with French Vanilla Yogurt base...good for you...right? Then the young lady behind the counter pointed out they had liquid peanut butter topping. Well, that started my slide into hog heaven. I topped my peanut surprise with Reeces Pieces, M&Ms, walnuts and sprinkes. Oh my, another 5K run ought to do it! I must say we had fun showing the owner who stopped over to marvel at my sugary masterpiece, she was engaging and encouraged us to sit by the fire pit. This is clearly a community supported establishment. Many residents of Ogunguit dine here, yes they have an extensive menu and hang out to chat about life. Sitting around the fire pit in adirondack chairs was a big bonus. Showcases the friendly atmosphere we look for on a weekend away.

We stopped at Rose Cove on a Sunday afternoon of April 29th. This is still considered "off-season" for Ogunquit. We ordered the grilled cheese and tomato along with clam chowder and the fish and chips. Sandwich okay served with fries, pickle and wedge of watermelon. Clam Chowder was very good and fish and chips very fresh with a broccoli salad. Overall, not a bad place and might return.

We love their pricey, yet extremely delicious (and generous--serving at least 5-6oz of lobster with each sandwich) Jumbo Lobster Rolls! Over the past several years we have come to Ogunquit every Summer, and this is the place we would eat lunch at every single day!

Rose Cove is my favorite must go to spot in Ogunquit. The food is awesome, staff considerate, friendly, kind and location ideal. It is the perfect trifecta of everything you want on vacation. The owner has become a family friend and I don't know how she does it but always greets like old friends when we return season after season. In a very cluttered market place, Rose Cove stands out and if you eat every meal there, which can happen or just desert, the firepit is not to be missed!

We loved this place! After enjoying lobster rolls on freshly baked bread our first night in town, we went back the next day for lunch. Everything was delicious and the waitstaff were very helpful. Plus the food is priced well!

Should have eaten at the piano bar across the street, we visited on fourth of july weekend it was raining and the patio awning was leaky. The sign boasted good buns... that really was the best part of the food. The meal also came with a tortilla sized slice of watermelon. The chicken on my sandwich was dry. I left hungry :o(

Brian R. must be a friend of the owner. Seriously? They say the roll is freshly made -- it tasted fresh out of a plastic bag. Granted there isn't a lot of mayo, but there isn't a lot of lobster or more importantly FLAVOR! I felt like this lobster could have been frozen defrosted. It was just okay. There also was an annoying dog roaming around picking at the food under the tables and bothering all the guests. One woman had to move away from it so it would leave her and her two kids alone. I'd definitely say don't waste your money. Another $5 is worth a trip down the street to the Lobster Pound for some real Maine lobstah! Trust me on this, folks.

The "Jumbo" lobster roll I ordered which was 18.99 was just awful, served on a plain store-bought bulkie roll and was filled with a bland and generic lobster filling that could have been straight out of a bag - What a terrible waste of money and time, don't bother with this place They even say they've won an award for the past 8 years for their lobster roll, who was the competition I wonder, McDonalds?

Lovely little place that serves a nice fried fish sandwich and lobster roll. Great 'toppings bar' (only a $1) to add to your ice cream order. That staff were so friendly and kind.

This place was.... interesting. My boyfriend and I were walking around aimlessly looking for lunch. So many places we couldn't decide. We stopped and looked at the menu and a girl ran out with a platter of fudge for us to try. Enticing. We actually walked around some more and eventually ended back at Rose Cove because he was craving a Fisherman's Platter. We go in and I was surprised of how casual it was inside. Half of the place is a restaurant the other a candy/ice cream shop. Odd. We're hungry and decide to stay. The ambiance is so lame. The tables and chairs were super cheap. There were actually table numbers taped to some of the tables - really? So he got the Fisherman's Platter which was actually perfect. The scallops were my fave. I got the Lobster Salad. Now it's funny it didn't have a description and for some reason I didn't ask what kind of salad it came with but I certainly didn't expect everything but the kitchen sink. There was a nice amount of lobster meat a top lettuce, tomatoes, grapes, raspberries, blueberries, mushrooms, summer squash, zucchini, broccoli -- what?? And it didn't come with a signature dressing. I chose olive oil and vinegar but couldn't eat the salad as a whole since nothing really went together. So strange! Service wasn't great. I kept having to catch our waitress's eye to ask for things and when that came to the check it took a while. I'm a sucker for anything with Rose in the name but I probably won't be back here.

3 years ago I would have given them 5 stars! They've been going downhill steadily, by increasing their prices while making their portions smaller! The haddock dinner used to hang over the plate on both sides and was delicious! it's still delicious but half the portion and it includes the tail! they've lost me as a regular customer
