With an unbelievable location in Ogunquit ME, this place hit the mark for me. I'm not a huge lobster fan (well i thought i wasn't till i ate here) but the lobster roll and fries here were amazing. Just the right amount of mayo and seasoning and the sweetest, juiciest lobster i've ever had served with delicious fries very similar to chips i would get with fish and chips in England, perfect! At $21 for the lobster roll i thought it was reasonable for the location, you can get them cheaper but that's what you get, cheaper. Nice bar and excellent service, all in all a very enjoyable lunch.

The setting is perfect. Gorgeous view of the ocean through big windows. Service was superb. I was torn as to what to order and went with the waiter's recommendation and had the mussels. They were wonderful as were the fries I had with them. Highly recommend both things. A friend tried the fried haddock and said it is worth going back for. So, great atmosphere, service and food!!!

This restaurant is one of the jewels in the crown that Ogunquit ME is when it comes to great restaurants. And really, it is a tough competition, and I would put MC Perkins Cove right there, in a mix at the top with several others spread out in the cute little town. Location: Clearly the biggest highlight of this restaurant is it's spectacular location. On a not so busy side street in Perkin's cove, the restaurant is not too big but has strategically placed tables in the main dining area - overlooking the beautiful Atlantic Ocean, with a picturesque borderline of cliffs on both the sides. What a view! We ate at the 1st level and so not sure how the set up is on the floor above. I am sure that must be great too. Ambiance: As goes the view, the ambiance is very demure and is definitely catered towards more intimate meals. Most tables are set up for couples and the staff puts them together for bigger groups. We went during the day and hence cannot comment on the lighting but even during the day, the natural light coming from all sides through the tinted windows gives the place a very relaxing feel. Having said that, it is a great set up for couples and groups alike. Food: They have a great selection here. The sea food especially is very fresh and very much perfect. We tried quite a few starters and the oysters clearly stood out. I also loved the petite crab cakes especially since they were not too heavy and had a tartar sauce unlike I have ever had before. Just rich flavors and yet very subtle at the same time, a combination quite rare. Their drinks menu was quite spectacular too. The fruit infused martinis were very dangerous - in a very good way! Service: Service was good. The chef owners (Marc and Clark the couple and hence MC) made sure they were at each table checking on the guests and their meals. They were quite engaging and quite nice to discuss the philosophy behind their restaurant and their culinary inspirations. We even got to chat at length with Clark about his recent filming on Food Network's Beat Bobby Flay. It was a fun conversation. They both were really kind and down to earth and it all reflected in their food which clearly seemed to have been prepared with lots of love and effort. Overall: It was a great meal and a simple yet beautiful experience. I highly recommend this place for a special occasion. And if there isn't a special occasion planned, make it one by having a wonderful meal in a soothing ambiance with a beautiful view.

I had a great dinner here. Our server was very helpful with suggestions and recommendations. We started off with the Peking duck cups. The duck was tender and the skin was rendered down properly and was very crisp. The salad was very fresh and all the flavors complimented each other well. We each had the hanger steak special. The steak was cooked perfectly and the onions rings were thin and super crispy and not oily at all. An add bonus was the two owners, James Beard Award winners, were actually working at the restaurant even when they are opening a new place in Portland. That happens way to infrequently. It was also cool to see their award hanging up near the entrance. I can't wait to go back. It was one of the best meals I had all week.

I have been here 5 times in the past 3 years and have had amazing experiences, meals, and drinks. I was most recently here this week, Sunday for dinner and Monday for a lunchtime cocktail (hey, it's vacation!) The food has consistently been fantastic, truly. It arrives promptly (as in we order and by the time we decide on a wine for dinner, it is served!) and fresh. I love that you can pick your own sauces and sides with entrees. Beyond that, add a side to a starter and you have a meal! Husband and I had oysters which were amazing and fresh followed by the brick chicken with mom sauce and cheddar mashed potatoes, crab cake starter with the corn pudding and onion rings. The onion rings are more like a large bowl on onion straws so I personally would skip them. I would change nothing else. We sat at the bar by choice and despite a busy night (there was a wait for tables but not for bar space) the service was impeccable. Our drinks, wine, and espresso were prompt and perfect. I highly recommend the house infused liquors, mine had in a margarita. After football, they put on the U.S. Open final at our request and were very accommodating. I would go back here in a heart beat. The staff is wonderful and the food is too. If you find fault, I can only think you are not pleased by high class food, drinks, and service with an amazing view and fair price.

View and service was the best part of the night. Bread wasn't worth eating. Quality of the meals were the same you would get at TGIF or The 99, but in the $35 range. Great for a drink to enjoy the view, but enjoy a meal elsewhere.

Went with a party of 4 last evening.....have been here before in mid October and had a great meal and great service. Last evening the food quality was just good but for the price expected a lot more. The portions where extremely small for the money spent. the quality for just 'Ok'. Service was also just ok, and not extremely attentive. I know it was Saturday evening of a summer weekend, but once again that should not matter since we paid a lot. I asked that the carb be changed out for a vegetable.....and said he could not do that and if I want that there would be an extra cost...7 dollars in this case. This has never happened from extremely expensive Resturants to lower end places. Too bad we had a bad experience since we enjoy the view and location....but for this amount of money will not attempt a second chance.

Great fresh food. The panini was stuffed and the chowder excellent. Definitely coming back. Tables outside right on the ocean. Beautiful views.

Our party of 4 showed up weekend prior to July 4th. It was crowded but not yet packed. We did not have reservations - but rather than being turned away we were invited in and welcomed. A good sign starting with the hostess. Dinner service ( with only a 30 minute wait) was stellar and the culinary offerings were prepared using fresh ingredients, thoughtful preparations, and perfect pairings with starches, proteins, greens, and wine. It was a dining experience one would expect in a metropolis but a find in this picturesque, Maine coastal-town. A stand-alone. Visited July 2013

We visited this restaurant last July. This is a really lovely restaurant with wonderful views. Make a reservation of course, as many restaurants downtown get super crowded during the summer. My family and I sat upstairs at a table with the windows facing the water. The restaurant is modern, cozy, romantic, inviting. The table setting was beautiful. We began our meal with bread and butter, delish, especially since we were starving. Not too many vegetarian options, but I suppose you could ask them to leave out the flesh. Food was beautifully presented on white plates. I enjoyed my avocado and romaine salad and tomato soup with croutons. It was comforting and soothing even during the hot summer. Service was great and welcoming. The A/C was cranked up too high, freezing us. Bring a jacket or sweater! Overall, a fancy, modern restaurant that isn't pretentious and serves good food.

Portion sizes were ridiculously small for the price. Also, the food wasn't even that great.

Very disappointed! We had brunch the for Mother's Day and to say we did not enjoy the experience is an understatement. To start with the waiter got several drink orders incorrect. After we ordered our food it took over an hour for it to arrive from the kitchen. The shrimp cocktail was tasteless and not cleaned properly. The frittata's were fishy, the French toast was dry and bland, and the bacon was undercooked. We specifically ordered the bacon crispy. The waiter didn't seem to care much and completely abandoned our table after we complained to the manager. The manager wasn't much better. He seemed to care less when we told him about our experience. The sad part is we've been here many times and we loved MC's. After our last visit I doubt we will return.

We had been eating around Maine all weekend and this was our last stop before driving down to Boston. By this point, we'd sampled 3 different lobster rolls. I debated whether to keep the res or not, esp given the lackluster reviews, but decided to bite the bullet and come here. Parking: It was July 5th, so it was crowded. We parked up the street at a restaurant next to a paid lot (that was the same price, just take our car please). Funny how you don't get a ticket or anything. They just somehow try to remember you. Seating: You can't reserve a specific seat or a window seat. We were sitted on the first floor almost near the window. It sucks since the window tables turned before we even got our food. Food: - Clam and haddock chowder with sweet potato. Loved it. Delicate textures and flavors. - Lobster roll with fries. The lobster roll was not huge but it was loaded and the perfect amount. The bread was perfect buttered and toasted. The lobster was prepared in a way that really let the ingredient shine. The fries were surprisingly delicious. I hate to waste, but I couldn't finish them. This was our favorite lobster roll. Dessert was disappointing. - Strawberry rhubarb pie. It was a disc of crumb "cake". The fruit filling was barely discernible and if it weren't for the vanilla ice cream, it would've been a dry mess. Our neighbors' desserts looked way better. View: Pretty nice. I can see why it's better to come in the day time than night when you can see the view!

I went up to Maine to spend my Birthday and ended up at this place one night. We were seated on the second floor in these nice booths but it was away from the window so there wasn't a great view. We got 1/2 dozen oysters, the chef's special of the day (which were scallops), and lobster mac and cheese. The oysters were delicious but pricy. They were more than 3 dollars per oyster! I have never seen that type of price before. The entrees were also pricy but they weren't anything special at all. Just decent. Total the bill came to about 100 dollars. They didn't even accept Discover and i did not see a sign for that when I walked in. There are better places to go than here. Overpriced for meh food.

We vacationed here from Los Angeles where we have plenty of great restaurants - and could not have been happier at MC. The room is wonderful with an even more wonderful view, the service was excellent and informed. Our server could not have been more helpful. Drinks and wine were great. The food was . . well . . beautiful. We shared lobster mac and cheese as an appetizer - spectacular, best we've ever had. The entrees were just great (love that numb and hot sauce) onion rings small, tender, not oily and delicious. We will be back. Don't understand the whiners here complaining about price (reasonable we thought) portions, value or quality - nonsense - maybe they should stick to Red Lobster or some mediocre pound per dollar trough eating buffet. MC on the other hand is really a great dining experience.

This was my first time here and had no idea what to expect. It was suggested to me by a local. We walked in and were told we needed a reservation, but they ended up finding us a table and probably the best one at that. We had corner downstairs table with a view of the ocean. The food was amazing, fresh and creative. I had a clementine martini. It was perfect. Our server was gracious and quick. They continually sent people to pick up dirty plates and fill water which was nice too. Can't wait to go back!

Awful service and mediocre food. We were seated and the waiter came over. we wanted to order apps then figure out what we were going to have. The waiter said "no sorry you have to order everything at once" I wanted to leave but we stayed. The food was just ok and expensive. With many other options I will not waste my time or money again. No Bueno

Perfect lunch showing off New England to friends from France. From the chowder and crab cakes through lobster rolls, carrot cake and turtle cheesecake and perfectly made espresso, the food could not have been better. Great wines and impeccable service-- our friends were wowed--and so were we! Oh. Did I mention the killer view?

This place is absolutely HORRIBLE !! After reading positive reviews we decided to try MC Perkins Cove. We followed what we read online and sat at the bar and requested the bar menu for the restaurant. The bar tender handed us the regular menu and I had to ask again for the less expensive bar menu that contained sandwich's. The bar tender was so rude and rolled his eyes as if he was inconvenienced. Bartender was infatuated with his cell phone on the counter and was constantly on his Facebook. Received my Jim Beam/Coke and it was all ice and coke, weakest drink that I have ever had. When our Turkey Club sandwich's arrived, the bread of both of them were totally burned. After I was finally able to get the bar tenders attention (he was again on his Facebook) I had the sandwich's sent back. When the replacement sandwich's returned, they were both untoasted, and the turkey was cold and the cheese un-melted. This was the rudest bartender and worst food that I have ever received and the bill for the two of us came to $57.00 for 2 turkey sandwich's and 2 drinks. Don't waste your time and money at this place!!!

Sat night in August Sat Upstairs at the bar , the food was ok certainly it seems they are relying on the owners past expertise with Arrows rest The drinks were ok but nothing amazing ,the calamari was ok , the salmon was ok The view great as usual not sure what else to say but I don think I will be going back anytime soon

I am not quite sure why this place is so underrated. This setting is lovely and the service was excellent. The squash bisque arrived piping hot with a little bit of cream but not overly so and was delicious. The tagliatelle with pork was a work of art. We truly enjoyed the peanut butter mousse dessert. I certainly would recommend this picturesque spot.

Our dining experience tonight was quite disappointing. The bread was not even worth putting out. I had to ask to have my water refilled. The noise level and the server's quiet voice made it impossible to hear the specials. Our meals were pricey and definitely not worth it. The crab cakes used to be delicious. They were not tonight. My salad was expensive and mediocre. I had the lobster mac and cheese and also recommended it to another in our party as last year it was divine. What a disappointment. It was $34 with little lobster but plenty of bread crumbs. We will not be returning any time soon and we're locals.

What a scam. My wife and I took two relatives from out of state to this restaurant last fall. They came from NC and we drove up from Boston. In a nutshell, it was overpriced, the food was below average and the service was below any standards commanding prices on par with Boston or New York.

French fries was not good... Over cooked and soggy. All fried items were the same. Last time it was so good and had extra ordered. Not today. Verbal apology when mentioned. They charge automatic 20% on tip for 6 people. However, staff members were attentive.

What a meal! What talented chefs! Truly, one of the best places my wife and I have had the pleasure of experiencing. They are not inexpensive, but worth every penny. We both stared with salads that were a piece of art to begin with. Flavors were perfect in harmony. My wife had the lobster macaroni and I had the duck. Both perfect in preparation and presentation. We felt as if we stumbleed upon an episode of Top Chef. The service was outstanding and never had less than 2 drinks left in my wine glass. We ordered a bottle and table side service was included. We also had desert that was divine. The view was breathtaking. I would not only recommend this wonderful place, but plan ahead and make a reservation. Upon leaving, with smiles that worked every muscle in our faces, we noticed a James Beard award on the wall! Who knew!

Unfortunately - the stigma about all restaurants with amazing views not having the food to match is proven true here. We had a table by the windows facing the ocean , cozy, romantic, great decor, properly greeted, welcoming, etc. It all ended there. Waiter thought one menu to share between four people was enough, It took 40 minutes to get first appetizer which was a seafood platter (actually was not bad at all - not sure it was worth $46). Salad that followed had some veggies that were browning and of average taste. New York strip followed, over cooked and flavorless. For sides ($8 each) - eggplant was ok, salty miso, bok choi was lifeless. I would not come back - but I'm sure plenty of tourists will give them a try just because of the views. I really would like to find a restaurant that has the food to match the scenery. Someday.

We came with a party of 10 for a birthday party July 4 th weekend, had a room upstairs, the service was good , menu upscale from standard seafood, my sword fish was excellent, large thick piece, done perfect, moist arrived hot, probably better than if I cooked at home. Everyone seemed to like their entrees, desserts were excellent. Don't expect an inexpensive meal with most entrees $30 and up, desserts $10. Drinks were good. Views were great as well. Overall, good, expensive, tho not in my top 5 memorable restaurants.

We have been going to M C Perkins Cove for many years, we went for dessert and coffee. The dessert we ordered was peach crepes with a raspberry sauce. This was awful, small six inch crepe with a tablespoon of thinly sliced peaches and smear of raspberry gastric for $9.50 YIKES! Not only over priced but not good either. Sad that a once good restaurant has come to this. We will not return.

Wonderful wild view, classy food and smart friendly service. The steamed lobster was excellent (served with absolutely perfect fries), and the chowder, mini crabcakes and Thai curry mussels with herbs were all delicious. In a class of its own on Perkins Cove. Will definitely return. For dessert, warm apple shortcake. The shortcake was a bit heavy and biscuity, but the apple and caramel sauce were delicious and not too sweet.

Unfortunately our experience was very similar to Maria's. I thinks we had the same waiter! When spending over $400 on dinner at a restaurant which is considered fine dining I would expect a professional waiter. Not one who is completely disinterested, inattentive, sarcastic, and condescending. We had the same experience with the appetizer as several others on Yelp. When we asked if we could get the seafood tower the waiter told us that the chef likes it when everything is ordered at the same time and he went to check if it was ok. What?!? It's $46! And I have to beg to get it because the chef won't grant me permission? The food was ok. But just ok. The skirt steak was flavorful but not outstanding. My mashed potatoes were adequate but not really special. Our friend got the sweet potato fries and they were truly terrible. They were undercooked and almost stalk-like. I have never had a bad fried sweet potato in my life. I didn't even think it was possible! And the plank salmon was raw in the middle. In the end I'm just tired of bad attitudes in high end places where they act like they're doing me a big favor by serving me. If you don't like being a waiter then don't be a waiter. There a re better places to eat in the area. Granted the view is great and the ambiance is nice but the food at Frankie and Johnnies is WAY BETTER and the staff appreciates you coming in.

If I could give this zero stars, I would. I ordered the filet and my boyfriend ordered the chicken. The filet was rife with fat and I had a tough time cutting it. This for $37.00. My boyfriend took two bites of his chicken and knew something was wrong. The dining room is very dark so it was only after inspection, the chicken was raw! Yes, raw. We told the waiter, no apology. He asked if we wanted another chicken and we replied no. The only compensation was the chicken was taken off teh bill. No apology from the manager. I have plenty of friends that visit Ogunquit and am sure to tell them to stay away.

My boyfriend took me here for my birthday. We got a table upstairs by the window overlooking the cove. We started off with the clam chowder and chopped salad which were both delicious. For the main course he got a lobster mac and cheese and I got the grilled swordfish with buttermilk mashed potatoes, all very tasty. The lobster mac and cheese for the size of the plate was probably slightly overpriced. Our waitress was nice and knew the menu well. We got dressed up for the special occasion but there were many people in casual attire. I'd recommend this for a nice dinner in this town.

So I took my wife and girls to MC Perkins for Mothers Day Lunch. They sat us right away right by the ocean view, which was the best part of the experience. So during the whole meal there were many large bugs, lady and other assorted in the corner that I had to remove, my girls are 4 & 6 and are very afraid of bugs, not to mention the sanitary factor. So we ordered, waiter was nice enough but I had to ask for sugar for my coffee, three times. Then to start the meal off we ordered the butternut squash donuts. They came out burnt on the outside and raw batter in the middle. I cut one open and discovered this. I sent them back and they brought out the very same ones, we know this because there was the donut cut in half. So I tried them and all I could taste was the burnt oil. We sent them back. So our meal came, my wife order the french toast, I've had better at a dinner, also they forgot the apples. I ordered the Maine crab hash, very boring lacked any real flavor, add some roasted peppers, fresh herb, possibly a nice hollandaise, something. This was a potato hash with bits of crab, disappointing. As a chef myself, I enjoy going out to new places for an experience and knowing that these guys run Arrows, Summer Winter which we had been to a couple of times, it was sad. I do appreciate MC Perkins, accommodating the kids since there is no kids menu. Also please change the oil in the fryolator if you intend to keep the donuts on the menu.

The three of us visited MC's for lunch on a recent off-season Thursday afternoon. It was a sunny winter day with snow covered beaches and rocks. We sat by the window (OK, most all seats have a window view) and were promptly brought over water. My wife and daughter ordered the roasted turkey sandwich and I the fried haddock. The food arrived nicely plated and hot. Each of our orders came with sea-salted fries. The turkey was served on delicious sourdough bread with avocado and dill sauce. My fish, more heavily breaded than I care for, came with a very small side of lemon fennel. I would have preferred less fries and more fennel. The service was friendly and attentive. This place has the atmosphere and waterfront view that make for great dining. A great view with good food and service was what the doctor ordered for a mid-winter get away. MC's did not disappoint.

We had a wonderful dining experience here last night. They gave us our own private dining room upstairs. Food was excellent. Presentation was great and the wait staff was superior. The oysters were delicious and the linguine with clam sauce was super. Topped it off with the coffee, coffee and more coffee for dessert. Nice way to start our stay in Ogunquit.

I had high hope going to this restaurant but was disappointed with every dish I ordered. The arugula salad was way too soggy; the crab cakes were completely tasteless and the mung bean crepe was like an oily rubber disk... Totally over priced and overrated!

yes the view was great but i couldve just walked outside for it. the food was bland, overcooked, and too expensive for what it is. i mean, come on MC! you're in maine, the place for seafood and you can't even get a simple tuna to be cooked properly. the only "delicious" food there was the shellfish platter but they didnt do much for it so im giving it a one star.

Yesterday we took our friend and his wife, who are visiting from Europe to Ogunquit for some famous Maine lobster. I have never, ever, had such an unpleasant dining experience as I did last night. The initial impression was quite nice...an inviting atmosphere with nice décor and very pretty views. We were greeted by a fairly pleasant hostess and told to wait for our table. Despite the availability of many tables, we were hurried into a "booth" by the bar, We tried to ask for a table by the window, but no one seemed interested in listening to us. Anyhow, we sat by the bar and were greeted by a very unhappy server dressed in jeans and a blue shirt. He barely answered any questions we had, and if he did, it was NOT with a smile on his face. He was quite annoyed that we were there and he had to serve us. We ordered a bottle of wine, a beer, and bottled water for all of us. We asked for a sample of the clam chowder for our 12 year old daughter because she was concerned about the bacon it contained. He brought the sample in a small dipping dish without a spoon. When we asked for a spoon, he simply said " oh, I would just sip it" and refused to bring a spoon. When our friend, being from Europe and unfamiliar with clam chowder, asked for a sample, he said "no, now you have to order it". We placed our order for appetizers; two salads, calamari, chowders and a dozen oysters and littlenecks - he stood there and demanded that we need to place the entire order since the kitchen makes everything from scratch. He told us he will be back when we make up our minds on entrées and ran off....OK?????? He came back after a few minutes and we placed our "entire" order: the above appetizers, 4 steamed lobster entrées, a clam chowder and a side of French Fries for my 12 year old. We also ordered a second bottle of wine. The majority of the serving was executed by the busboys, which was not a problem for us since they were the friendliest ones there. When we finished, the busboys cleared our table and we waited for the customary hand towels for cleaning our hands after eating lobster. We would have waited all night, if we did not request the towels. The server finally came over and hurriedly asked if we wanted desert. We commented that he seemed in a rush and if they needed the table for other customers, we would forego desert. He snapped back at us "I'm also tending the bar" in an extremely rude tone. Despite, his attitude, we ordered two deserts to share and cappuccinos and espresso. Our friend requested a bottle of sparkling water and when he brought it, he continued to pour it into our half full glasses of plain water. When the check arrived, my husband was very surprised that an automatic 20% gratuity was added to the bill total. Perhaps this is a Maine custom which we are not aware of, however, we are used to the automatic gratuity being added for large parties and at that, it is always 18%. Not that we wouldn't have left a tip, servers work very hard and we always tip a minimum of 20% - 30% when dining out, however, this time a 15% gratuity would have been more than justified. This was the most unpleasant dining experience I have ever had. If asked if we would go back, well, if the wait staff is changed - maybe. The entire dining experience was diminished by the distasteful attitude of this server/bartender. For a tab of $450 for 4 adults and a 12 year old, one would expect much better service. The food was average for this price range.

Came here as a party of 7 to celebrate my sister's 40th birthday. We ordered several apps for the table, the most outstanding being the lettuce cups which the server had recommended. Delish! I was on the fence ordering the lobster mac & cheese, but after asking the server about it and him saying it's "incredible" and has the meat of a whole lobster in it, I was sold. And he was right. I practically busted a gut trying to finish it because I was not going to let a drop go to waste. My husband could not stop raving about his Kobe beef burger. The servers work together in a well-choreographed dance of bringing everyone's dishes out at the same time and clearing them away at the same time. It was nice not having to look around to make sure everyone had gotten their food to start eating. It's definitely a busy place on a Saturday night, so reservations are a must. A small bonus was having a direct view into the kitchen of Mark Gaier from Top Chef Masters preparing food!

This restaurant is definitely one to try. The view can't be beat, and the food was great. I will say that the service could have been better - they forgot to bring out my salad. All in all, I had a good experience, but I definitely think if it hadn't been for the amazing view, the experience may have been slightly lacking...

Norman, our host bent over backwards to get us a table with a good view of the ocean. He showed me a couple of table downstairs and took me upstairs and was just very accommodating in general. My little neck clams were fresh and my husband's crab cakes were fabulous - not a lot of binder, just lots of sweet crab meat. And the cole slaw on the side was awesome! My steamed lobster was very fresh as well and the side of crispy potatoes were delicious! My husband's scallops were cooked perfectly and his side of corn custard was to die for.

A favorite stop for my Wife and I. We've been several times for lunch, dinner and even a large dinner event. The food is always delicious and the service is always outstanding. I will admit to having buyer's remorse after paying $12 for a bowl of clam chowder. It was fabulous chowder, but twelve bucks?

We took 13 college friends to dinner at the end of a short weekend in Ogunquit. We could not have asked for a better venue. Because of the size of our group we were treated to the upstairs dining room which was small but very private. :Some of the specialties were haddock wrapped in bacon and lobster mac and cheese and they were exceptional. The service was what you would expect from a high end restaurant. Don't miss the flavor infused Vodka either. We came with high expectations having eaten here in 2010 and they were surpassed!

The view doesn't get any better. The Caesar salad was very good, but the portion was a bit small. The fish and chips were good. They weren't greasy, and the fish was moist. The mussels lacked flavor and weren't that plump. They are stingy with the bread. The Med. platter was just fair. Share one of the pizzas as after a while, the taste is too much. The wines aren't cheap, but the pours are good.

Three years ago, I added this place to my bookmarks never having been to Maine and no trip planned in the foreseeable future. I am happy to report a visit on a daytrip while hanging out with my cousin in Boston for five days. Maine must be beautiful in the summer, in the fall, around Christmas, in the spring...I wouldn't know. My recent visit, while according to the calendar, was just as spring began, looked nothing like spring as my west coast sensibilities would think of it. In short, the roads were empty, the air crisp (even biting) and the slight breeze made a 40s-ish degree day feel more like 30s. Aye. Not a blossom in sight and snow from a recent dusting collected along the side of the road. The advantage was that this fabulous restaurant was nearly empty. By the time we got to Ogunquit (around 3 pm), most restaurants had closed for the afternoon (others had not even dusted the snow off their porches since last season ended and would not reopen until April). Thankfully MC Perkins was open. Both my cousin and I ordered lobster rolls - he a veteran and me a newbie. We agreed it was incredible. The pieces of lobster were huge and overflowing from the bread. The bread was ever-so-lightly toasted white bread (with similiar appearance to Texas toast) and was not the least bit greasy. The dish was simple but insanely good. My one complaint might be the value. Several days later I indulged in another lobster roll in Cape Cod and the price was around $13 vs. this one that cost $20. To be fair, the ambience of MC Perkins was head and shoulders above the other, including the unobstructed view of the ocean. So the additional charge could be somewhat of an...admission fee. Thankfully the restaurant was dying down from it's post lunch crowd, so only one table seemed bothered that I dared bring an infant to lunch. I cannot wait to bring my husband back to try an authentic lobster roll!

Delicious Sunday Brunch with amazing ocean views. Crab meat hash with eggs very good but the highlight of the meal was the dessert. Banana poundcake with vanilla ice cream, warm caramel with shaved coconut on top, AMAZING also Bloody Mary's pretty damn tasty

Fabulous lobster rolls. So fresh, with huge chunks of lobster falling off the bread. The roll was lightly toasted and buttered, not at all greasy. Even the sweet potato fries were delish. We sat by the window, on a gorgeous early summer day and the view was breathtaking. A really wonderful experience. The rolls were so goo we ordered a third one to share.

I have been going to MC's since they opened, they have a killer view great bar , great wait staff and what I am now down grading to just OK food. They used to be much better but feel this past year my last 5 or 6 meals have not been as good. The fish taco were over cooked, calamari was super greasy, my burger had a stale roll and steak was not cooked as I order additionally they don't give those spicy nuts out any more? I used to love them. Another thing to factor in is the price they charge i just feel at these prices they really need to focus more on the quality of their product. I will def be back for more just hope they get it together.

Best view in Ogunquit. Been in before to sit at the down stairs & up stairs bars. Thought I'd bring a date, which seemed like a great idea at the time. I arrived at 5 to find no one working at the fully occupied downstairs bar. I started to head upstairs, when one of the 4 people having a tete a tete at the corner desk snippily informed me that upstairs was closed. I retreated to the bar, where I stood for several minutes without anyone asking if I'd like to order anything. Realizing that bar service wasn't going to happen tonight, I headed back to the hostess stand, asked for a table for two and decided to take my chances with dinner. I was seated promptly and a nice young girl asked me if I'd like some water. I ordered a bottle of still and perused the wine list in an attempt to finally get that drink when she informed me that she was "just the busgirl" and couldn't take my wine order. I waited. And waited. Cuticles checked, menu perused, decor analyzed, stitches in carpet counted, and still no service. A seemingly eternal 20 minutes passed before I was approached by another restaurant employee. I was ready to cut my losses and spend my dining dollars elsewhere, but my date really wanted to dine here so I shelved my better judgment and (finally!) ordered a bottle of wine. The waiter brought the wine, poured it and promptly disappeared, a fact temporarily shielded from my notice by the arrival of my date. We spent about 10 minutes talking and catching up when a new server appeared and asked if we were ready to order. We weren't, but I ordered some oysters as an appetizer and my date and I continued to catch up. After a reasonable time, the second server appeared again to see if we were ready to order. We'd begun looking at the menu, but weren't quite ready so I thought I'd order a second bottle of wine. She informed me that "The chef prefers people to order all at once instead of sporadically," and she also informed me that for that reason, our oyster order had not yet been placed. That was enough for me. The attitude and poor service was only going to spoil my date if I continued to have my date here. I asked for the check, which was dumped in (yet another) huff. I paid, leaving an industry tip and waited at the bar (now bereft of life, with a sole occupant nursing his drink in the corner) while my date used the restroom. The "host" was there and we made eye contact, but he didn't so much as acknowledge us on our way out to another restaurant. I believe that this place is run by the Arrows Company. I had high expectations and anticipated a far better experience from them so I'm even more disappointed than I would be had this been a randomly chosen restaurant. I hope they can pull it together - and I'll give them another chance in the future to show that they have - but one more experience like this and one of the dozens of other area establishments hungry for my business and eager to show it will earn my patronage.

Came here for Brunch and loved my visit! What a great place! Loved the decor, and the view was really calm and soothing. They had live jazz, which was a really nice touch on a gorgeous Sunday morning. The bloody mary is SO good. Classic and perfect are the two words that I would use to describe it. No bells and whistles.. no fancy ingredients.. just... yumminess. I ordered the burger which was truly fantastic. Very juicy and the bread was sooooo fresh. Plus, the sweet potato fries are tempura battered! yummmmmmmmmm. My mom had the poached egg with crab salad. The crab was a little fishy smelling but it was still pretty darn delicious. All in all, definitely a great spot. Next time I'm in the area I'll definitely stop by again!

This restaurant has greatly dropped in quality since the last time I went here. First off, their "15 minute wait" was actually 45 minutes. We stood at the bar awkwardly and had drinks, while customers pushed in and out of the front door. The bar tender, however, was excellent. The appetizers were good but small, so we finished them quickly and then twiddled our thumbs for at least half an hour... Two of the three main courses were unacceptable for a restaurant of this level. The burger (ordered medium rare) arrived as "medium" (waiter misheard) but looked much closer to well done, it was also tasteless. The dinner salad consisted of two pieces of tiny toast, two little bites of jamon, and a lot of green stuff - while crunchy, this is not an $11 salad. We left MC Perkins Cove very upset and a little hungry. This place used to be highly recommended by us; we're not coming back.

I was enormously disappointed with the meal we had here this week. Apart from the fact that the prices were truly absurd, my linquine with clam sauce was virtually inedible - at any price. There were whole, essentially uncooked cloves of garlic as well as several items that were not clam but were some sort of either mushroom or faux clam. Desert was similarly outrageously priced and the size of a coaster. Even the view was less than I'd hoped for - really a disneyland version of "Maine seaside dinning"

  • Pin-Bo T.

This would have been my third time dinning here and it was far from good. To recap my other visits, my first experience was actually quite nice. Wonderful service, tasty and delightful food. We had left with high hopes for the future. The second time we were placed upstairs next to a server station which was uncomfortable and annoying. In addition the food was extremely bland, with no flavor at all. I chalked it up to a bad night and left it at that. Today we stopped in for lunch expecting something decent but found ourselves snacking on poorly shucked oysters that looked liked they had been run through a grinder. We found bits of shells in each one, which not what I would expect from any restaurant. Although they tasted fresh and delicious, it was a hack job and started off my meal on a sour note. After that we enjoyed an arugula salad, fairly standard and nothing to rave about. For our main dish we split a Kobe burger which we ordered medium. Not only was it cooked well done, it was burnt to the point where you could taste the char. The sweet potato fries were also a disappointment. Some were cooked others were under done. I'll have to say the service was nice and the view is still killer, but something is amiss in the kitchen Perhaps it is the off season staff but that is no excuse for any establishment. My fiancé use to love this place but now I refuse to spend my money on such poorly executed food.

I've had good meals here before, but after a recent experience, I'm not in a hurry to return. We went on a Friday night, albeit in the middle of peak summer tourist season. It can be a hassle to park at the end of Perkins' Cove, but we lucked out. Our party of 4 arrived right on time for our reservation, but it was so densely packed near the bar that I had trouble getting up to the maitre-d to let them know we'd arrived. They keep that staff member so tucked away, you feel like you're going down a hall you shouldn't be in to let someone know you've arrived. We then packed ourselves in with the crowd. When our table was ready 10 min later, we almost missed getting it because though the maitre-d that I had checked in with walked past me several times, she never asked if I was in the party she was searching for. My husband fortunately overheard her and we were seated. While our view of the cove was lovely, the ambient noise in the main dining area was DEAFENING. We had to practically shout to hear each other speak across our table, and hearing our waiter was challenging. After being seated for 10 minutes, the power went out, but there was little acknowledgement from the waitstaff of any changes, and even with the power out, the noise level was still excessive. We have a gluten-free diner in our group, and we had called in advance to determine if they could accommodate that. While she did in the end find acceptable food on the menu, we had to hunt and peck for what we thought would be GF, rather than receiving help from the waitstaff with suggestions or information. In the end, we were happy with our food. My husband enjoyed his trout, my son his steak, and our daughter her lobster tacos. My salad was average. My duck was delicious if somewhat on the undercooked side (cool center). I didn't want to send it back as we were anxious to escape from the noise. We have been here before (more often in the off-season) and have been pleased with the quality of the food. That said, we've never had the issue with noise before, but with the combination of the din and what to me seemed to be an inability of the staff to meet the needs of a full house comfortably, we will think twice about returning. The food is generally quite good, but there are a number of places in the vicinity where the same can be said. The atmosphere is sufficiently lacking that I think I will choose elsewhere next time.

Love the view of the place. Fresh seafood. Got their sampler of lobsters, clams, muscles and oyster, very good. Had the best calamaries there. Once again, very cool view.

I've been to MC a few times and it's always really great. The view alone is fantastic (don't let them seat you in the tiny room to the left upstaris). The food is superior, especially for Ogunquit. I'll always love my lobster at Billy's but for a night out, this place has great drinks, great food, and great service (go, Koby! Great job!). We shared the pok lettuce cups to start - very interesting and delicious. I loved the steak ( filet, I think) and the lobster out of the shell was delicious as well (if not a bit small). Not sure everyone loves their lobster in a pot of butter but I thought is was a treat. For dessert we had the banana something (I asked the waiter to surprise us) and I can't describe how good it was. Really great spot,

My fiance took me here for our first date, and he took me here again to propose to me! So it has a special place in our hearts, and we love that the management and staff went out of their way to make our evening special the night we got engaged. They even let my fiance bring in his own musicians! On the other end of the formality spectrum, we sometimes come here after my evening yoga class, and they don't even blink when we show up in our sweaty sweats. We really like the staff here, and have had some very amusing (but nevertheless professional) waiters. They are also good about finding us seating when we fail to make reservations in the peak of tourist season. I am not recommending you do this--I am just saying it to point out how swell the staff is. The location is lovely (book an earlier time to get a view before the sun sets), and when the weather is warm, we go for a walk on Marginal Way after dinner. (MW is a path along the ocean bluff -- ask the staff for directions.) Parking can be hard once tourist season starts, even though there is public parking nearby. The food -- well, I know the owner-chefs are famous, but I have to say it is a mixed bag... The ingredients are always fresh--lots of it from their own gardens at Arrows, their sister restaurant. I guess my main complaint is that some of their dishes are waaaay to salty, and others seem kind of bland. Also, the steaks don't always come out the way you order them. Quality control, people!!! (Are you guys listening?) And what is with charging extra--and so much!!!--for the veggies!?!?! Why, oh, why can't I sub them in for those Evil Carbs? (you have to give them irony points for calling them Evil Carbs, most of which are soooo good.) For example, I love the trout--but it is sometimes too salty. Same with the baby bok choy (for which I have to pay extra!). I couldn't even eat the cauliflower, which is one of my favorite veggies. On the other hand, the steaks are great (if they happen to come out cooked to your liking), and the fried chicken is also good. The duck never fails to please us. And the corn bread-like corn pudding (as a southern girl, I would almost call it spoon bread) is crazy good. If that is wrong, you just don't want to be right. I also liked the calamari (but not as much as I like the one at York Harbor Inn), especially with the green pesto-like dip it comes with. And don't even get me started on the complementary peanuts that start off the evening... So, is MCs all that? Not always, but we love it anyways, and will keep forking out the money to eat there in whatever we happen to be wearing at the time.

This is my favorite restaurant in the Northeast. I have dined at this restaurant a few dozen times in the past few years. The fish tacos alone are worth the 5 hour drive for me. For dinner, the plank roasted fish of the day is always perfectly prepared and also provides a healthier alternative than what one may typically find in a resort area. The drinks- Mimosas, Bloody Mary's and selection of specialty cocktails are the best I've had in the area. I've seen the negative comments about the service and this has never been my experience. As far as the price vs. portion size, I think it is well worth the thoughtfully prepared food made from fresh ingredients. The chefs manage to make grilled cheese and tomato soup a fine dining experience. If you like crab cakes, I would suggest you try this appetizer here. I would have to assume if you are a fan of a $19.99 all-you-can-eat buffet, are looking for ordinary fried seafood fare or simple boiled lobster with corn on the cob side M.C. Perkins Cove may not be the best choice for you. If you enjoy more creatively prepared fresh foods by nationally recognized chefs then I would highly recommend you try M.C. Perkins Cove.

This was a really lovely dinner, exceeding our expectations, which were high to begin with. The food was excellent. The atmosphere was refined, yet relaxed, and with a beautiful view of the water on Perkins Cove. We started with the mussels, which were delicious and creatively prepared in a basil cream sauce. For his entree, the better half had the cedar planked salmon with aoli and fingerling potatoes. I had the swordfish (cooked to perfection) with the tarragon sauce and the corn custard, and heirloom tomatoes to share. Everything was delicious. Nice service and a decent wine list. Request to sit upstairs-- the view of the cove is unbelievable, and the ambiance is just right for an upscale beach vacation dinner. Reservations are a must, even during the week, so call ahead or plan on waiting. We had an 8:30 reservation and couldn't get in a minute earlier, but enjoyed a nice drink at the bar (which had been crowded when we stopped in earlier but thinned out nicely as it got later). Definitely recommend.

4 star food - although inconsistent. 0 star service & attitude. Hence 2 star average. Service: Came for dinner with my wife. On the way out it was raining cats & dogs, and I asked for an umbrella to go get the car without getting soaked. "Sorry we do not have any, other guests took them and did not bring them back" was the response of the hostess. OK no worries. Then on the way out the bartender downstairs goes "it's not too bad [that my wife and I get soaked] you will end up taking her wet clothes off" Dude, seriously? Am I one of your buddies, or am I the customer who just paid 150+ buck$ for a dinner for two? Food: Excellent smoked duck, cedar planked salmon, deep fried trout, swordfish and blueberry peach crumble. Meh chichen under the brick (tasty but on the dry side at 26$). Do not get the lobster mac & cheese (way too cheesy and not very lobstery - for lobster mac&cheese go to 555 in Portland instead). Overall: good food with hits and misses, service with an attitude, and bartender that should instead be a comedian.

NOTHING SHORT OF AMAZING! My partner and I went into MC last night after hearing great things about it from a number of our friends and were not disappointed. From the clean, sharp look of the bar and dining room to the professionalism of the staff and onto the remarkably good food, we were thoroughly pleased. We are foodies from Boston and couldn't believe how hea- and-shoulders over even some of Boston's best restaurants the food was - the presentation, flavors, and preparation were second to none. I loved it so much that we bought a gift card to send friends there for their next trip to the area. Thanks for an amazing all around experience.

Yes, the view is spectacular but it's all down hill from there. I went there a couple years ago and had a bad meal but wanted to give it a second chance. I ordered lobster roll and requested that they serve it on lettuce. I got two lettuce leaves and not-so-fresh lobster claw meat in light mayo with fries for $20. Overpriced and mediocre at best. When I asked my waiter for rolls, he obliged but didn't serve butter. For a high priced restaurant, I expect more.

First time here for lunch (though we've always loved it for dinner). Best tomato soup and grilled cheese I've ever had ... And I don't even like tomato soup! Same great vibe and service as dinner ... Plus you get to enjoy the ocean view even more during the day.

When you walk in, don't mind the "Ladies Who Lunch" initial atmosphere. YES, there was a table of women drinking their lunches with big sunglasses on who looked as though they had just been released from plastic surgery recovery...but it's coastal Maine. Brunch Review: The view gets 5 stars!! It's like you are eating inside the dining room of a Pottery Barn catalog. (sigh) The decor is fantastic and you just cant beat a spectacular ocean view with crashing waves. I wish they had valet parking for the restuarant. A few other places in the area do. Otherwise you are going to have to find one of the lots in the area which are over priced and over crowded. I'd just park further up the street away from the beach next time and walk down to MC, so you don't risk hitting a tourist or two. The seafood platter appetizer at 45$ was overpriced for the amount of food you are getting. Split between 4 people we each only had about 1.5 shrimp and 2 clams/ mussles. The seafood was fresh and delicious, but small and measley compared to the gulf shrimp of the South I was raised with. So the seafood platter got 3 stars. The entrees were INCREDIBLE 5 stars all around. Everyone in my party shared so we could get a little taste of everything. The portions were much larger than I expected, so everyone was more than satisfied! The sausage is housemade and was so flavorful and NOT greasey my brain was overwhlemed with different spices and tastes, I couldn't quite figure out everything they used to accomplish this magical side. My cottage cheese pancakes with blueberries were thin and creamy. I HAVE to figure out how they make those. My dad kept saying he wanted a cookbook so he could re-create some of these recipies at home. The cornbeef hash was a HUGE hit. The Eggs Benedict were rediculous. I have never had eggs benedict with lobster. The flavors were SO rich and so fresh, everyone at the table was blown away. Two people in my party had the French Toast and that was also delicious. They tried to tempt us with dessert. I was too full, but others in my party were set on the homemade apple pie. Turns out they were having a wedding party upstairs and everyone there ordered the apple pie. So we were unable to... The service was pretty good. I felt like our waiter sort of came in and out. Folding one person's napkin while they went to the restroom then leaving anothers'. Either fold all the napkins or none of them, don't set high levels of expectations in the beginning and then leave us hanging later! (Ooo one nice touch, the bussers come out in 2s or 3s to clear an entire party's table at once so no one is left with a dirty plate sitting in front of them.) That was well rehearsed and I appreciated it.

Superb! One of our top 10 dining experiences of all time - excellent service and superb, interesting food. There were lots of helping hands as they swiftly but politely moved us through our courses of crab cakes, salad, and entrees. We had a 5 pm reservation which gave us a front row, view of the cove. I'm sure they needed to move along the early birds to not get backed up later. No problems though; everyone was pleasant and relaxed. Our lead server knew his stuff and guided us through the menu well. My wife had a great "house" white wine (which was a private label from a local winery) and ate swordfish brochette with this incredible cornbread souffle. I had a haddock dish served over fingerling potatoes, tomatoes and grilled vegetables. When I ordered, I was unsure about tomato/fish combination, but it made a great broth-like an awesome vegetable soup.

Had such high hopes for this place but right off the bat what a letdown. The only positive is the incredible view but sadly that didn't makeup the horrid start of a meal and overall experience. Started off witht their clam chowder (heard that it was fantastic) served to us half full and cold! When asked why was it half full I simply got the evil eye and the server simply grabbed it and ran (ya i said ran!) into the kitchen. It was brought back to me full but still not exactly as hot as one would like their chowder. At that point I was somewhat uncomfortable and just dealt with it. We then asked some simple questions about certain wines and asked for a taste of one of their pinot noirs and was told there would be a $1.00 charge. What? Excuse me? Why would a restaurant with such a great reputation think this to be acceptable? At that point my wife and I had enough and canceled our entrees and walked down the street and had a very casual but decent meal at Barnacle Billy's.

Great setting and interior, very comfortable ambiance and menu... the tuna skewars we had there last week were absolutely phenomenal.. wine list is pretty uninspiring, but I think that's what they're going for here, everyone being comfortable with good food, good service and great surroundings. One of those "If I lived here, I'd eat at that bar a lot" spots.

food is slightly above average but very much overpriced. Head waiter was great but the rest of the service was clumsy. Will attribute this to the fact that the summer season is just beginning and that staff is still training. Here is what I will not forgive and the reason for my one star rating. When I made my reservation, I explained that we were celebrating a birthday and that it was my elderly parents first visit to Maine. I asked that we be seated by the window. The hostess explained that they do not reserve specific tables and it is a first come first served policy. When we arrived there were two tables set up for a party of 8 - one in the interior of the restaurant and the second up against the windows with the beautiful view in sight. Of course we were ushered to the table in the interior. I stopped the waiter and asked if instead we could be seated at the table closer to the window. He pushed me off onto the hostess. I explained what i wanted and she shook her head, put her hands on her hips and said "absolutely not". I was stunned. So I asked why and she explained that particular table had been requested by the people making the reservation. I told her that I knew that was not true since when I made my reservation I was informed those types of requests were against the policy of the restaurant. She stared at me with her mouth open and said nothing. We just stood there staring at each other both of us understanding that she had just been caught in a bold faced lie. Finally my husband pushed me into my seat and told me to just forget about it and enjoy the night. Several minutes later the party that table was "reserved" for came in clad in their big jewelry and country club blazers. My one star rating goes to MC Perkins Cove for unabashedly and without shame, treating one set of customers differently than another and not even having the decency to cover it up well.

This will be the second time my wife and I have eaten here. The first time was a pleasant experience - the second was just as pleasant. Great room, good service. I ordered the sirloin (30.00) with Lee's A1 Sauce and Israel Cous Cous. The strip was about 8oz and was perfectly cooked (medium-rare) and very juicy. I was very happy with it. The cous - cous was very well cooked and prepared with some mild spices. My wife ordered the Mac-Cheese with lobster. (32.00) The cheese was a delightful blend of mild white cheddar and sharp cheddar. The macaroni was the big noodles and the dish was from scratch. The dish came out hot and with a lobster chopped in half. The other half was in the mac and cheese. Very plentiful of meat and well worth the price. She also ordered a side of creamed spinach which was delightful. Very tasty and the cream was light. I mixed some of the spinach in my couscous and I think they will put that on he menu next time..:-) Overall, the dining experience was nice. We went up during the Hurricane Earl scare. The cove and the rest. was quiet so we got a lovely seat at the window overlooking the cove. My only gripe - with the prices above average, the multitude of servers back and fro, I would have liked my Lobster Red Ale in a nicer glass other than a Miller Lite pint glass...very tacky.

Had quite a good experience here. The oysters were fresh and delicious. I didn't care for the vinaigrette it came with though. I had the scottish salmon baked with fresh herbs. It was very delicious. The toffee bread pudding with bourbon sauce and chantilly cream was out of this world. Definitely a dessert that will stick with me.

Had made reservations for party of 5. We were seated upstairs next to the bar cramped into the corner - the women at the table behind us would not move her chair and I had to sit at the end unable to sit next to my son who managed to squeeze past the other table and into the corner. Okay, seated. The speaker on the bar was right next to me and blaring out music into my ear. Wait staff stomped up and down the stairs directly next to our table. When I sat down my seat vibrated! And so did the entire table!! We all told the manager and he acted as if there was something wrong with us! The drinking glasses set on the tablewere were dirty and a few of the plates were dirty. We complained and then we were taken downstairs seated right next to the kitchen - very, VERY noisy. Be aware the staff packs the people in w/o any regard for seating arrangements. We all decided to leave and left - walked over to another restaurant in Perkins Cove and had a positive, enjoyable experience! And I will add we did not waste $600 on an over hyped restaurant. Skip it and eat better somewhere else for an enjoyable dinner at the Cove.

On my recent trip to Ogunquit for 4th of July, I had a few meals at the upstairs bar with an incredible view. The food is great and really fresh. Great calamari and fish tacos that are not your typical breaded and fried dishes. The service and drinks are also great. After a couple of OK to not so great meals, I found myself returning here every day for a guaranteed good meal.

Had a great dinner. We started with fresh shucked little necks, delightful raspberry vinegarette & onion dipping accompaniment as well as traditional lemon, and a clear vinegar & onion ( nice change from the tomato based cocktail sauces if you are one who likes to step out a bit with your clams). Just eating them right out of the shell was awesome too. Next we shared the clam chowder which was done simply and delightfully with a hint of smokey bacon, more of a thin potato base lightly thickened stock rather than a cream based oatmeal texture that your fork could stand up alone, not that I am showing my preference to the lighter based chowders, but I am in the " make it light and special " versus, make a big heavy clam stew with tons of potatoes, chunky clams and a pound of butter and cream type of a chowder. This was special. Even the way they made delightful croutons out of a house recipe, rather than serving you a bag of commercial oyster crackers on the side, made each spoonful count just a little more. For the main entree, we shared the most wonderful Lobster Mac and Cheese I have ever tasted. Perfectly matched herb crusted topping with a generous portion of lobster and a light cheese that let all the flavors sparkle. The ceramic serving dish was extra heavy, allowing the dish to stay piping hot until you had a chance to get to the end of enjoying your large portion! Nice touch in choosing the right way to serve this delightful pasta and seafood item. The side was a cornbread pudding/brownie kind of concoction, that I would love to try to make on my own as it was delicious and unique. Service was like a flawless ballet performance, not slow, not rushed, but just paced nicely and attentive. Views are great as you look out the windows from every table, but how can you beat looking out over a delight cove on the coast of Maine. Just as everything tastes better when you make it yourself on a campfire, so does every meal eaten overlooking a romantic cove on the Atlantic. Sending my friends and family to this place for lunch or dinner without any hesitation.

We used to go there as well - superb reviews a few years ago, and the very famous chefs drew us in. We loved it! Easily spent $300 per visit, and the food & wine were perfect. But back about 3 years ago, in the middle of our dinner (over $300 bill), we asked for an extra pad of butter -- and they CHARGED us for it. You would think that if you are spending that kind of money, they would not nit-pick for a pad of butter. So they are lost a customer, due to a very ODD policy, as we have not been back since. Also, parking is horrible. No parking lot, so good luck finding a spot.

Used to be wonderful and do not know what happened? Party of 4 all went out and were excited for a nice dinner night out. I have to say that all 4 of us were disappointed! Very pricey! Who do the owners think they are jacking up the prices so high? I understand the views are spectacular, but really I do think it is fair to ask the prices they do. Go somewhere else and save your money, its not worth it.

I would actually like to give it 2.5 stars, if I could. The atmosphere was the best part of the dining experience. The view was spectacular however the food was a bit disappointing. I ordered the plank salmon which was on special and it was over cooked. Instead of flaking when I touched it with my fork is shredded. DRY! Sadly when the waiter came for his one and only visit to our table after our food came, I had a scalding hot (and thankfully, delicious) fingerling potato in my mouth and couldn't speak. Eventually I lost my opportunity to send my dish back as I could not get his attention and my dining companions continued to eat their meals. Another party at my table ordered the duck and thankfully shared, or I would have left the restaurant hungry. The duck confit was outstanding but the breast portion was nothing special. It was a little over-seasoned and again, a little over cooked. The standout of the night was the lemon cheesecake, which I got a small taste of. My dessert order was the three ice cream sandwiches. The idea is outstanding but the execution was just okay. Two of the cookies were overcooked and hard. I would have thought that when the waiter cleared the dishes and saw that my fish was hardly touched he would have inquired as to my satisfaction, but he did not.

My husband and I went to the Cliff House for the 4th of July. I have been to MC's many times. I am not sure why I keep going back. My husband and I got the squash appetizer stuffed with riccota and fried. Just okay. For dinner he got the Lobster Macaroni and Cheese he wast thrilled with it and said it was dry. It did look dry. I had the Chicken with the corn concotion (the chicken had no taste but the corn was very good) we split the creamed spinach (that was decent), I had a nectarine martini just okay and he had a pinot. All in all it was a just soso experience but very expensive. I am always disappointed in the food when I go I am not sure why I keep going back. The view is outstanding though and our waiter was pleasant enough. For the price I think I will pass next time (if I can remember!)

had dinner here on 10/6. Had previously been here a year ago and was wowed. Not so much wow on 10/6. Raw bar offerings were good,as was my wife's salad. Wine was also good.My wife ordered the crabcake appetizer as her entree and there was no visible crabmeat. My linguini w/clams was average. Server was excellent and attentive. Desert of grilled cornbread w/ carmel was great. I believe overall the meal was average and was disappointed.Server saved the day with her great service

this is the worst restaurant I've ever eaten at!! the CHEF/OWNER is clueless!!! Ordered a piece of flank steak for $29 that was like rubber and some crispy potatoes a 2 year old could make. No veggie - nothing for $29. GF ordered swordfish for $32 that was on a skewer and had zero flavor!! and a pile of white rice - woah- REAL creative clark! ohh almost forgot their special 'Mums' sauce that was pretty much balsamic. I don't even think they know how to use salt & pepper. we are talking cooking 101 & this so called Chef can't even season something properly. NO CLUE how they remain in business & the Management is just as clueless. Norman looked like he crapped his pants when we complained and they offered to do nothing. I just watched the Chef get cut from top chefs so I felt compelled to final write my review. The one judge was like if you can't get filet & corn right then you're in BIG trouble! haha aint that the truth

Well, very mixed feelings about mc perkins cove. While it does have a few things going for it, view/location, and a nice looking menu. The thing is, the service is lackluster at best. The chefs seem more concerned with finding boys with nice faces than finding attentive, focused, polite servers. I have been here on a few occasions with guests and had an excellent dining experience. Other times, service was bad, food was just okay. Today was my last time in this restaurant. My guests and myself were greeted and seated. Then we waited for waaaaay too long, then I flagged someone down. Although apologetic, the waiter took our order. Then the food took waaaaaay too long to reach us, In a half empty restaurant. The french fries were not hot, mortal sin if you ask me..... It wasn't anything you couldn't get at any number of places much cheaper and with better service. Very dissapointing. I am in the culinary field and there is a saying...... Consistency is key!

Amazing location and views of the rocky coast of Maine. The establishment was very modern, clean and inviting. After a cocktail at the bar our large group of 11 were seated. The menu was excellent and everyone enjoyed their food immensly. The only drawback was the service. Our wait staff seemed inexperienced and a bit inattentive. (One waiter poured a bottle of charndony into my daughter's half full glass of Reisling.....an honest mistake to make, but not at a restaurant of this cailber). Overall, a wonderful, relaxing evening of great food, laughter and family.

Food generally was ok but they have "the attitude" here. If you're like me and think you deserve a pleasant attitude along with your service especially when you're dropping a hundred or more for two, then don't go here. One of us had a bad meal and was not offered a replacement or even a comment from the waiter. Just If you "do" go here, don't order the chicken saltimbocca. They claim it's prepared at their other restaurant which is higher-end. It's actually a burnt piece of fried greasy chicken with fatty bacon inside that they charge 28.00 for. Wine was decent but pricey. This area of Maine is riddled with wonderful restaurants and one shouldn't have to settle being treated as a second class citizen just because we are tourists. Avoid this one if you don't need "the attitude" Try Joshua's in Wells! "Superb and reasonable. Oh ! and NO Attitude! Just fine food with the best attention. John R

Important to mention that I have had a love affair with MC for years. I eat here whenever I'm in the area and I recommend this gem often. On June 9th a friend and I spent the day on the beach, I insisted we go to "my fav place." The time was 4:44 pm. The restaurant was empty and no staff in sight. We waited at the end of the bar and were eventually greeted by a hostess who explained we could not sit in the dining room until five o'clock. Please note, the dining room was completely set up down to the actively glowing candles on each table. My friend said that would be fine, but could we sip our drinks at the table until five, then order dinner? Suddenly, up pops a bartender and one or two waiters and each one is growing more condescending, aggressive and rude by the moment. My friend continued to argue the point that it was only now a fifteen minute difference. A waiter then said, "There' s the manager if you would like to take it up with him." Once again we were told the dining room opens at five. At this point the staff who followed/herded us out of the restaurant were now standing on the small landing outside of the restaurant. One shouted a slur and they all laughed. Rules are rules. No seating allowed in the dining room before five. It's not rocket science. My friend is one of the top three elite wine salespersons in Boston. She was confused why in a depressed economy, right before an awful storm, on a Thursday, before the summer season, an empty restaurant would turn customers away. I'm confused why they were so jaw-droppingly rude. Did your staff have to be so oddly superior, so mocking, so unusually inappropriate? I'm devastated that I can, under no circumstances, ever return to MC, or recommend it to anyone I know or care about, and what really saddens me is the message that MC could care less. Mr. Frazier, Mr. Gaier, I'm so sad to say goodbye. And to all the middle aged women coming off the beach, even though you have the potential to be a $150.00 table, look else where. I'm frightened to imagine the treatment at Arrows.

I took my wife to MC Perkins for her birthday this past Saturday. It's a long ride for us, just about 2 hours each way. But we had a great time. (We took a little walk on the beach before dinner. The wind was howling, but it sure was fun.) We got to the restaurant right on time and were seated immediately. All the tables here are good, but we were lucky and got a great one. The service was outstanding. My wife had the chowder before her main course. She has not stopped talking about how good it was. We also had the calamari as an appetizer. Delicious. We both had the swordfish which was very tasty. The sides are always fun here, I had onion rings and she had the tater tots. both sides were good, but she absolutely loved the tots!Desert was chocolate lava cake. Also great. While sitting looking out at the moon rise over the ocean we saw a red fox wander down the beach! What a delicious and fun birthday dinner.

We sat upstairs on a blissful winter afternoon in the middle of a monsoon. We were happy with the food and thought the service was quite nice. Our only complaint was that the bartender upstairs (our only company for the meal) had the TV blaring with a bad movie, not exactly great ambiance for a $65 brunch. We tried our best to tune it out and enjoy the scenery. The food was good, if not a bit spendy for what it was. We're big fans of M & C, we were just disappointed with the disregard of the bartender...we get that he's bored but it was just disappointing. Oh and given the weather conditions, parking was a snap but I'd imagine it would be tough in the summer.

Ate at MC's recently with a large party. The atmosphere, food and service was not at all what I expected, and wish that I had consulted yelp beforehand. Bar service was slow and seemed confused by our large party of 8, even though there was not another person at the bar when we walked in and there were two bartenders (who, by the way, moaned and groaned, when they had to go downstairs to get another bottle of liquor to make our drinks- here's a hint- try stocking your bar before 8pm on a Saturday night). After being seated, bussers were prompt with bread and water, but did not clear empty cocktail glasses during the entire dinner making for a very crowded table. Unfortunately, the food right from the start was disappointing- serving the table baskets of stale bread and dishes of soggy, soft peanuts. The only compliments I can really give is for the shellfish tower, which was full of fresh seafood (although a little skimpy on protion for the price) and the wine list had a nice selection. Prices for entrees seemed overpriced for what was served, especially since any vegetable was an extra charge. I had the tuna steak grilled with a side of chutney (which was actually also included- so nice of them to throw that in as a bonus), unfortunately it was not cooked the way I requested which was rare. My table ordered some desserts to share, I didn't bother trying them and opted for a glass of Cava. Next time I visit maine and want a great meal I will bypass MC's and likely their sister restaurants too, and head straight to portland.

We were drawn in first by the fact that this place used to be the Hurricane. Second, by the warm and modern, inviting dining room, not to mention the well-written menu and the view. But the real experience started when I had to send back my french fries. FRENCH FRIES. The sweet potato fries were coated with a strange white caked substance, were luke warm and mushy, and had a bitter taste. They must have been cooked, frozen, recooked and served. When I nicely informed our attentive server of this fact, he took the plate back with a surprised look on his face. We asked for some bread only to be told, "we don't do bread service at lunch, but I'll see what I can do". What? An American restaurant with no bread or rolls? We were then presented with three soft, store-bought square rolls. Barely adequate, but for a place that charges $10.50 for soup? Unacceptable. Then came the lobster pizza. The very colorful and small lobster pizza. The crust was strangely soggy and luke warm, while everything on top had just come out of the refrigerator - COLD. It was just weird. Then came the crab cakes, which were deep fried balls of minced crab with some sort of dairy product - mayonnaise, maybe? - on the inside. They were like baby food. The lobster roll was bland with no seasoning. I ate it only because I was hungry and wanted to get out of there by that time. After about an hour, the three of us nearly vomited from the indigestion. Do yourself a favor and skip this place. Or bring your pepto if you insist on taking a risk and spending over $100 for lunch for three.

this restaurant is so good it's hard to put a finger on the exact reason--but lets try. excellent menu without a lot of pretense--fabulous service--incredibly good food--a well designed and thought out space, which most restaurants aren't. any good restaurant can get the main entree right--but here every side dish is stunning. this is a fun place to eat with insanely good food!

We stopped for a drink and stayed for a 3 hour dinner! Brian - the bartender - was so knowledgable about the menu - you don't always find that in a bartender. The food was amazing. Fried oysters and crab cakes were the perfect light beginning, the Arrows salad and side of Arrow's tomatoes were as fresh from the garden as they could be. The plank salmon was cooked perfectly. The cod wrapped in bacon was moist and delicious with every bite. The peach (my favorite summer fruit) crisp was the best ending to a fantastic evening. A delightful dinner celebration for our anniversary. Glad we skipped the Lobster Pound this year.

a bit expensive but the views and drinks are fantastic. also they have sweet potatoe fries that come in a metal cauldrun. (sp). also when i got off work from billys and reaked of fried seafood they still let us sit in the bar and score some killer food with our just recently made tip money

Three stars for the food. Four stars for view and atmoshere. ONE star for the service. This place would be a great regular place for us if the service was better. The poor service emanates from uncaring and aloof management...the attitude seems to be that they are doing the customer a favor. What a great disappointment! We had made reservations far in advance and were certainly let down by the overall experience.

This is another feather in the cap of Marc and Clark (owners of Arrows). The food was excellent and the service (other than the downstairs bar) was very good. The decor of the place is very modern and comfortable. The view WOULD have been nice had it not been the beginning of October and it was already dark out. My only real complaint about the place was that the bartender downstairs was so busy, that I stood at the bar for 10 minutes before I was able to get a drink menu - and that took me actually yelling "EXCUSE ME" just to get her attention. Well, I guess I would have to say the fact that I ordered my steak medium and it came closer to rare was an annoyance, but the steak tasted so good (the outter portions) that I can't complain too much about that..lol..

I was here for a dinner with a big group in a private party so that is what my ratings are about. The drinks were excellent. Everyone's favorite of the night was the MOJITO. The food was great specially the crab cakes for appetizers. And the view... without a doubt was one of the highlights as well.

I had lunch with my parents at MC last December ('05) & it was de-lic-ious. The service was friendly, although a bit slow to follow up post-meal. The view, from upstairs, of Perkins Cove was enchanting, looking out over waves lapping the beach and snow drifting down from the grey sky. My father, a meat-and-potatoes guy at heart, ordered the lobster salad (lobster salad with "Celery Victor", romaine lettuce, Russian dressing and Monterey Jack cheese toasts, $16). It came on a platter arranged with vegetables & greens in a possibly overly artistic manner-- disaster, I thought, he'll take one bite and give up on it! But he ate every scrap! My mother & I ordered the clam chowder to start ("Smooth" clam chowder with paprika oil and a clam and potato timbale, $8). A tangy paprika oil laced the soup, complimenting the creamy (but not at all watery) base & perfectly cooked potatoes. Said potatoes & clams were piled in the center (that's the timbale part), so we distributed as we liked in the soup. The clams themselves were gorgeous, most whole, also perfectly cooked. Truly delicious- I'd order again & again. Then my mother had the Bibb lettuce salad with so-called "Green Goddess vinaigrette and giant herb croutons" ($8)-- they ain't kiddin' about those croutons, they were huge! A little hard to tackle, but perfectly seasoned. I would've eaten her salad, too, if she let me! I had the "watercress and grilled Belgian endive salad with citrus, dates, preserved lemon, almonds and a harissa vinaigrette" ($9). It was a little TOO tangy for my tastebuds, but still quite good. All salads were ample & between that and the soup, I was more than stuffed. Complimentary bread & butter were fine, nothing special.

My boyfriend and I had reservations here for 9:00PM on a Saturday night. We got there about 1/2 hour early and decided to hang out in the bar area for a drink. It took a good ten minutes before the bartender even acknowledged my boyfriend and gave him the drink menu. And when we decided what we wanted, it took her even longer to take our order and make our drinks. I ordered a mojito and when I (finally) got my drink, it was really good. I didn't want to let an ignorant bartender ruin my evening. We were escorted to our table at about 9, and we sat upstairs in the bar area. I was disappointed that it was so dark outside because we couldn't see the view. We ordered the Maine Peekytoe crab cakes which I really really liked. You basically get three small crab cakes and home made coleslaw. The cakes were very good, crispy on the outside and nice and soft on the inside. For my entree I had the tuna cooked medium rare with the numb and hot sauce. I had the herbed polenta for my evil carbo. I was very happy with my choice. The numb and hot sauce went very well with the tuna. My boyfriend ordered the fillet which he requested medium, and it was definitely closer to medium rare or even rare. He didn't send it back though, and I just ate the more rare parts because I like my meat rare. We drank a bottle of Veuve with dinner. Between the very strong mojito and the champagne I was pretty buzzed and full by the time I finished eating. But on a slightly drunk whim I decided to order the lemon mascarpone torte for dessert. It was good. The perfect combination of sweet and tart. Despite the poor service at the bar, everything else was great. We ate at Arrows the night before which is owned by the same people, and I was impressed with both places. I would definitely go back next time I am in Ogunquit.

the view was indeed gorgeous, just as all previous yelpers had mentioned, but for a James Beard award winning restaurant the food left A LOT to be desired. i ordered the fried chicken for my entree and what came our was a burned piece of batter with a glop of gravy to hide the evidence. when i questioned the waiter about the overcooked piece of chicken he said he would "check with the kitchen" leaving the plate in front of me. he came back about 7 minutes later telling me that the kitchen was backed up b/c of a large party and that the piece of chicken was forgotten about. after telling him it was not edible he did not offer me a replacement, and furthermore said he would not take it off the bill claiming that i ate most of it. i explained to him that not only did i tell him it was not edible, clearly meaning i did not eat it, but that even if i had (which i had not) the kitchen admitting to the error should have resulted in an automatic removal of the item from the bill. we didn't even stay for dessert of coffee b/c we were so put off by the experience. i think that James beard would be mortified if he knew that his chef sent a plate out to a table in that condition

If this place was cheaper, I would have rated it a little higher. I went to MC for lunch with two co-workers the other day, and was very disappointed. Our server was friendly and efficient, but the food simply didn't deliver. We ordered the crab cakes and pork spring rolls for appetizers. The crab cakes had decent flavor and the remoulade was tasty, but nothing stood out. The pork rolls were terrible. I've had better at Chinese take-out restaurants. The pork had no flavor, and the sauce was flat - typical soy-based dipping sauce. For entrees, I ordered the kobe beef burger, and my co-workers ordered chowder and the lobster salad. The burger was decent, but definitely not worth $19. The kobe beef was greasy and didn't pack any more flavor than good ole ground chuck. The crowning achievement of the afternoon, however, was the sweet potato fries. They were so overcooked they were almost black and unrecognizable. Any flavor that they did have was choked out of them. The chef should have been embarrassed to send those out to a guest. The lobster salad was well below average. The lobster meat was tough and lacked flavor. The same goes for the grilled cheese and tomato soup. Coming in a close second to the sweet potato fries was the housemade mayo. It looked like polenta it was so congealed, and it tasted nothing like mayo. It was made with EVOO, which overpowered any other flavors that should have been present. My boss' chowder was average, but not worth the money. Desserts were forgettable, and our cappucinos were lukewarm. Considering the reputation that precedes this place(Arrows restaurant), and the price points on the menu, I expected a lot more than what I received.

After a dear friend recommended this restaurant we made 7:00 PM. Tuesday night reservations in late August. Parking in Perkins Cove is pricey, expect to pay at least 10.00 unless you're able to find a free space. We arrived 10 minutes early and were seated immediately. Bottled water, bread and nuts were provided by an attentive wait staff and the bottle of wine we ordered arrived promptly. We ordered the steamed lobster a la cart off of the menu, the crab cake appetizer along with cheddar begninets(included) and a side of creamed spinach at an additional expense. Salad and potatoes were not included. The food arrived quickly and we were surprised that the crab cake appetizer looked like 3 small hush puppy potatoes. They were tasty and the sauce was good but it was a very small portion, especially because we decided to share the appetizer. When the lobsters arrived they looked small. When we cracked open the claws it was mush, there was no meat. The lobster tails yielded a very small amount of meat. We were surprised how expensive the meal was in comparison to what we actually got. Having ordered a steamed lobster the night before, tonight we walked away hungry and feeling as though we had been taken advantage of. They were the smallest lobsters we have ever seen and didn't know they were legal to catch/serve. Given that lobster's at the current market price of $5.00 per pound, one would expect that when you order a $30.00 lobster , it would be larger than a 1 pound lobster (our mistake, we didn't ask). Our bill arrived - $130.00. Pricey for 2 lobsters that seamed more like they were cray fish. The environment (a bit noisy) and view were excellent, service was very good but the value of the meal was not worthwhile. We will not dine here again.

My steak was excellent... I chose the "Mom's Sauce" as my sauce and "Yam and Potato Gratin" as my "evil carbos" (the "Mom's Sauce" was the clear winner with our group). My wife had a different experience as she ordered the deep-fried "Drunken Chicken" but the menu did not point out that it was served as a whole chicken, bones and all... a lot of work for not a lot of meat... especially for $20+. She did enjoy the rest of her evening though so not all was a wash. For the most part our service was alright but our waitress brushed aside my wife's complaint that the menu did not correctly describe the chicken (not even a suck it up "I'm sorry")... she even started to defend the menu (check the description on the web site). Besides the food, the atmosphere (trendy upscale hip), cocktails, desert, and even the bread were all top notch. With that said, you pay a premium for eating ocean side in Ogunquit (for example vodka martinis are $10+). Because it is in Perkins Cove, parking will be an issue and be prepared to pay (but you might catch a break).
