Tried China Rose tonight after many years and to be honest it wasn't very good at all ordered fried rice wonton soup and Crab Rangoon's... for almost $20 everything was super greasy and the rice had no flavor what so ever. Wonton soup was ok. Prob wont go back.

Disclaimer: The fifth star is because this particular restaurant is not within driving, canoeing, kayaking, or trekking distance of any other very-good Chinese restaurant. It is right next to the really amazing L.L. Bean outlet if you wanted to attempt any of that though. China Rose has all of the comforts of Chinese food from a good, metropolitan Chinatown restaurant, but the benefit (or detriment) of being located next to nothing more than trees and outlets. The food is quite traditional for the Chinese restaurants you might find in Boston's Chinatown, but everything I tried has always been very good. I'm not sure if Asian food in Maine gets any better than this.

It wasn't bad but it's nothing I would rave about either.1.) Sweet and sour chix- deep fried chix balls with sauce on the side- no veggies. 2.)general taos chix- brown and stringy meat, weird sauce- no veggies .3)Beef lo-mein salty and greasy 4.)fried rice- oily and flavorless When in Maine............order a lobster??

This used to be one of the best Chinese restaurants in Maine, but is now average at best.

Seriously disappointed in what is usually a great dining experience. Ordered extra spicy General Taos Chicken with extra sauce and boneless BBQ pork with extra sauce. Neither had extra sauce and the chicken was tough, stringy, over cooked, and no spice at all. I'm hoping this is just one off night and not a sign of things to come. I will go back but this is strike one.

Waaaaay too expensive for the quality of food. I got sesame chicken, a drink, and an app, and it cost me almost $30. If the food was good, I could understand that price, but the quality is that of the cheapest chinese place you can think of. I guess they just charge more because they're in Freeport.

I've only been here once. It was this past Fourth of July and it was about quarter 'til 10. Even on July 4, Freeport rolls up the sidewalks, and we had just come from the festivities at the L.L. Bean campus (The Mavericks! Fireworks!). The China Rose was about to close, yet they seated our party of six and expeditiously brought out drinks and plates upon plates of hot, delicious and fresh food. Fantastic crab rangoons. Perhaps the best-I've-ever-tasted chicken fingers (light, crisp and less greasy than the norm). Top-notch Sesame Chicken -- nothing blazing any trails, but all exceptionally and quickly prepared. I don't recall when I've had a better experience with Chinese cuisine. Also, despite the proximity to closing time, the staff could not have been any more cordial. Will definitely go back.

A little boofay China Rose is an attractive and quaint little restaurant that offers a lunch boofay on most days. Not the largest selection of items but the quality of the food is definitely above that of most American Asian types of boofays. The restaurant is small but has room to spread out and has a very pleasant and attractive décor. The service was attentive and very friendly with lots of smiles and laughs. The food was all good but traditional, the stuff you would expect in a boofay. The difference was that the food seemed more flavorful, fresher and tastier than some of the stuff you encounter in boofays with many items. Not a the largest quantity of stuff but the quality is definitely a step above the usual. And the best part is that it's still a boofay which means you won't leave hungry,

Pretty decent place to grab a buffet lunch. Stopped here during a business run and was impressed with the buffet. Servers were friendly and very prompt to clear plates and bring refills on soda and water. Not the best buffet but if I was in the area and had a craving for some Chinese I'd visit again.

Great chinese food! Everything we ordered was delicious, and spicy, good spicey! No complains. I will come back again if I am in the area.

Under new management. Did not see the same quality as in the past. Reserving judgement.

Very mediocre. Food tastes cheap. Server was not knowledgeable about the menu.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
