Had meatballs and spaghetti last night. I think they put some wine in them which is an added plus for those who like the taste of wine. I just wish the portions were larger for the price, but hey, I think our view as Americans is skewed when it comes to portion size anyway.

We eat here about once a week. Excellent in every respect. Mussels terrific. Pasta and pasta sauces way above average. Ice tea is just the way a person likes it. Pizzas are great. Thin and deep dish. Yes it's not cheap food, but not stuffy either. One of waiters looks exactly like Gael Montfils and just as delightful. Because it's in shopping center, parking is a snap- which may be Geppettos biggest attraction. I mean try to park in downtown Bethesda in any night, much less a weekend. Five Pinnochios!

Deep dish pizzas are out of this world!!! Absolutely amazing! The only downside is the service :( the waiters need to be trained to provide a good customer experience. Waiting too much for water. The waiter didn't know how to open a bottle of wine. Didn't pour the wine only left the bottle in the table and left :/ but over all the food was incredible!

Geppetto Bethesda, MD Review-, as the old saying goes, I guess all good things must come to an end! After years of counting on Geppetto's pizza to deliver good quality pizza in the Montgomery County, Maryland area that has now vanished. While over the years, the quality of the pizza has gone downhill, along with the quantity of toppings, their price has continued to climb up-hill.... Can you say over priced!!! What has really changed over the years is their quality of service or should I say lack there of..... Here is a prime example....Sunday, October 6th, 2013 I place an order for one large cheese pizza at 6:37PM. At 8:03PM I call Geppetto's and inquire about the status of my order. Not even saying they are sorry for the delay they tell me that the pizza is on its way. I live less than 2 miles from Geppetto's in Bethesda, MD at 8:34PM still nothing....So I call back again and inquire about the order, they give me the same answer....it is out for delivery...OK you old me that 30 minutes ago...So it has now been 2 hours to deliver one large cheese pizza 2 miles... So they connect me to the manager that tells me they are busy and she takes my number down and tells me that she will call me back right away with an answer. Still 24 hours later no call back or no pizza delivered...just left me high and dry...... Now would you be happy with that type of service? So in the future if you are looking for some place to eat or delivery service...just say NO to Geppetto's and save yourself the hassle...... What was once a good place to eat and order food has slid downhill past the ranks of Pizza Hut!

Made a reservation for Mother's Day two weeks ago. Arrived for the meal and learned that there was a special, limited menu for Mother's Day featuring $35.00 entrée prices. We inquired as to weather the regular menu was an option, and were told that it was not; however we later saw other tables with pizza and hamburgers from the regular menu. We chose this restaurant because it's comfortable and has a good menu, but the special menu and pricing were very disappointing. Will not go back here again.

Great Italian food! Nice outside seating area. Pleasant ambiance inside. Fresh veggies in pasta dishes. Try the lobster asparagus pasta dish for a flavorful surprise! The red and green peppers add a sweetness that is amazing! Chunks of lobster and perfectly cooked pasta are delicious with this sweet addition. Service was a little slow, but I would return.

I ordered a Meat Lover's Sicilian Pizza (Large 14") from home. It was huge and packed with pepperoni, but it tasted so artificial that I can say I have tried better frozen pizzas...I don't recommend this to anyone, at least not to pizza lovers!

A while ago... and I don't remember who it is. It could have been a ghost or possibly a dream. It could have been G-d talking to me. It could have been a premonition, deja vu, or even Hayden Christensen dressed up at Santa Claus. I'm not sure who told me this, but someone told me.... "Gepetto's Deep Dish Pizza is better than anywhere in Chicago- trust me" That's a bold claim Santa Claus thats obviously Hayden Christensen. Super hot....sultry Santa... Anyways, so I was very curious about this and said- fine! I'll take your challenge. I'll eat this deep dish pizza that you speak of! I will eat it tomorrow! And then I forgot for about a week- 'cause that's me. Then me and my friend were figuring out what to have delivered to my APT and said- I've got just the thing! So, did it live up or even surpass Chicago's famous deep dish pizza. Well... honestly, I don't know. I've never had Chicago's deep dish pizza. But I can tell you that it was delicious and I ate it up like 1 dollar records at a yard sale. "Yeah... I might not need this Engle Humperdink album... but it is just one dollar." The one problem I had with it, which my friend had as well, was the thick thick extra thick outer rim of crust. It was almost like somone glued a loaf of bread around it. It was just too much. The inner pizza part- well, I just ordered one right now. Who told me about this amazing, what they call, Sicilian style pizza. I don't know.. honestly I don't care. Just tear me a slice... of pizza... and santa

The pizza is good, but this is two times that they have screwed up our order and it has been late. The first time our pizza took 2 hours to get to us. The second time it was 30 min late and we ordered a cheese and tomato pizza with pepperoni but there are no tomatoes on the pizza.

We used to eat here frequently years ago. Over time the restaurant got smaller and less popular. Now you enter from a side alley, not from the front of the Wildwood shopping center parking lot. I still come here for their white pizza, which I take out and wolf down in my car. It is the best white pizza I've had: crispy crust, hint of cheese, lots of garlic. Outstanding. I don't know why, but I have little desire to return here to dine.

Gepetto is a class act. Last Fri night we had a party of 8. It was a momentous occasion. I had a glass of wine with dinner so when the check came I paid it and did not look at the itemized items. Our total came to 245.00 so I gave the server a cash tip. The next day I looked at the receipt and saw that because our party was more than 5 they added a 20% gratuity to the check. I called them the next day and told the lady on the phone the whole story and they sent me a check for the charged tip that was included. I assumed I'd have to hash it out with Mastercard but nope. She was so sweet and nice and the check showed up 2 days later. We will defiantly dine there again. I loved the patio outside and all the Pinocchio touches. They are the real deal.

first of all, we arrived early (a group of 4 with another couple close on our heels). upon reading the hours, we turned to walk away but were delighted when a staff member opened the door and invited us in! we were seated and served with the most gracious hospitality 25 minutes prior to opening! vegetable lasagna chicken cannelloni spaghetti bolognese fettuccini alfredo w/chicken all dishes were delicious! can't wait to return!

Wow, worst service EVERYONE complimented by below average food. The shocker is I paid for it by getting sick the next day while at the Baltimore Aquarium. BEWARE OF THIS PLACE!!!

I pretty much only order pizzas for pick up or delivery...but they are the best pizzas (hand-tossed). I never thought I'd pay ~$30 for a pizza but it's so packed with toppings, you can only eat a piece or two at one sitting. (They used to be a little less expensive.) The only downside (besides price) is the amount of time it takes for delivery so don't wait until you're extremely hungry before ordering or just drive over and pick it up.

Rudest and strangest customer service situation I have ever experienced. Ordered small delicato with pepperoni delivered. No pepperoni. These things happen, but we were starving and wanted the food Redelivered. Called the restaurant and was yelled at by the manager. She read my original order incorrectly and when I tried to correct her she yelled at me. She then told me to stop yelling at her. It was a very hostile conversation for two people talking about food. Finally cleared that up and settled down to wait for my new pizza, arriving about one and a half hours after the original order, and well after other members of the family had eaten. What arrived was a box of pepperoni. No pizza. Apparently I was supposed to put it on my stone cold pizza. Have you ever heard of that??? When I called, admittedly very upset, I was yelled at that I had my pizza and my pepperoni. I was yelled at more, and told that if I called back to talk to an owner/ or different manager that I would "get myself in trouble". I asked for my money back and was told no. This went on for much longer than it should have. I should have hung up. After being berated, insulted and frustrated I did eventually get promised I would get my money back on the one pizza. I have NEVER had such horrible customer experience. There are SO. Many excellent restaurants in the a area. How can they not care about the customers?

This place is pricy for piza and Italian food, especially for what you get. For example a SMALL deep-dish cheese pizza is $15. The service is also not the greatest either. For the bread that came with the table, I got a single slice of stale-ish bread with no butter or olive oil. The only reason I ate here is because they had outdoor seating that allowed pets. If you have a choice, I'd recommend finding something a bit more reasonable with better service.

Awful. Sorry to say but this place has gone downhill for me. The pizza was doughy and not impressive. The chicken, mushroom and artichoke pasta was in a watered down Alfredo sauce bland as anything. The chicken seemed to be over cooked and or microwaved. The mussels were a good size but the broth was defiantly not cooked with wine but more like water, bland with no flavor. $50 later I'm still starving...

This place has without a doubt the worst pizza I have ever had and the service was terrible. At first, we entered the take-out area and no one acknowledged that we were there. One of the chefs saw us, but continued working on preparing food. After 5 good minutes, the chef came over and told us that someone would be with us shortly. Then a woman came to take our order but instead of taking the order told us that the boy whose job it is to take orders is busy socializing. I didn't really care, i just wanted to order. The boy finally came to take our order (a large neapolitan pepperoni pizza) and told us that it would be 15 minutes. I come back after 15 minutes, and get my food. The boy rushes me out, but i didnt mind. I get to my car and open the pizza box. This is when I realized that things went very wrong. The pizza was absolutely disgusting. There was enough pepperoni to cover at least 5 normal pizzas (if you like this, you dont really like pizza). The cheese was also over-flowing, congealed, and looked like plastic. Yet i decided to bite in. I had trouble swallowing with the massive amount of cheese, and the extremely mushy dough. The pizza was not fully cooked. The pizza was supposed to be hand-tossed, but it was clear by the crease in the crust that it was rolled out. I could not eat more than one bite, and was really disappointed. Also, the price is high for such crappy quality food. Do not get pizza from this place if you want even a decent pizza.

My husband has been here before for lunch and it was obviously fine or he would not have suggested taking me there. We had an absolutely dreadful meal. First we waited too long for any attention from a server, then my wine came but it was another ten minutes before they brought my husband his bottle of beer. Then his medium-rare burger was raw and when he sent it back, they just threw it back on the grill and charred it. He complained again the manager said she would take it off the check and get him a new one. When she brought it, she said she made it herself so he accepted it, but it was again raw. The final straw was that she put it back on the check. Throughout the meal, the wait staff could not have cared less that there was a problem with our dinner -- but the water girl was very attentive.

Maybe the pizza is good, but the pasta dishes were awful. I ordered the penne pollo arrabiatta, which according to the menu had green chilies in it. The dish lacked any flavor whatsoever and I believe by green chilies they meant green peppers. I was expecting a little spice, but this dish was blander than bland. My boyfriend ordered the cannelloni, which is filled with chicken and ricotta cheese. This dish was equally as bad. None of the filing was distributed evenly and it also lacked any flavor. On top of the poor food the service wasn't even very good. I had to call a waiter over to take a drink order after waiting a while. We had to ask twice for more bread. And they just generally ignored my table. Less than stellar service would be ok if the food had had any flavor. I will say the decor is nice, like the kind of place you'd take your mother in law or grandmother. But I'm baffled as to why people come here. It's over priced and the food was frankly pretty bad.

BP and I went to Geppetto for lunch one day during the work week. There were many older couples eating at the restaurant as well. At 23 and 25 we were the youngest patrons. Everyone was dressed really nicely and we felt a little put of place in our jeans. But, that did not distract us from enjoying our meal! I can't remember what BP had, but I believe I had a thin pizza with salmon and capers. It was delicious and tart! I loved the zing the capers added. It was a wonderful meal!

Went there with an Amazon Local coupon which they would not accept. They said they had no contract with them. Disappointed by that but now to review the food and service. Service was very good and food was just mediocre. Would not go to this restaurant again.

I had higher hopes for this place coming in. I guess its supposed to be like an upscale Italian deli. The place is nice enough inside- plenty of room for everyone without being cramped, but it didn't have much atmospheres either. As for the food, it was ok. First, the bread they gave to us was actually pretty stale- one of he slices was rock hard. I ordered the Italian sub- it was a pretty good size, but had no flavor to it. I have no idea how you can actually make an Italian sub that has no flavor. I don't know if I would go back.

I had not been to Geppettos in a long while and now I remember why. It's just not that good. First, the pizzas were not ready when we went to pick them up, and the guy was basically putting them together while he was asking us to hang on. That was not cool. I did like the pepperoni's, which were on the pie so thick that think there were more of them than cheese. The sat on the top like little upside down mushroom caps, each a little larger than a nickel. I am not sure if they are alway so abundant, or the counter guy was embarrassed that we had to wait, even after showing up 45 minutes after placing our order. But the pizza itself was kind of eh. It reminded me of a frozen pizza, though I will admit if this came as a frozen pie I'd be buying them. But a fresh made pizza should be better than this. It really showed up on the plain pizza. It was kind of bland and tasteless. If you find the New York slice to be the standard then I think this is going to be disappointing. If you are more open to other types of pies then maybe this is for you.

Pricey, but a discerning customer will identify that they use quality ingredients. Pan pizza was a bit on the ridiculous side, as it was just a pie chock full of ingredients. My favorite combo, white pizza with chicken and cranberries preceded by the calamari. The fact that they deliver is also awesome.

I went here with my girlfriend's family. I can only say I was disappointed. The service was subpar. The waiter's spent a lot of time standing around talking to each other, and while I feel comfortable calling a waiter over, it shouldn't really be an issue. I got a chicken cannelloni, which on first bite was really good. Nice and creamy, well flavored. Turns out I had just eaten all of the ricotta cheese in the cannelloni. The rest of it was overcooked, dried out chicken with little flavor. Poor distribution of ingredients. My girlfriend ordered the chicken Arriabatta. Absolutely no spice and no flavor- this is supposed to be a spicy dish - and the sauce was watery. It actually resisted spicing. We had to add an absurd amount of chili flakes to get any heat. I will not eat here again.

We were doing some shopping in the shopping plaza there and were lured into the restaurant by a Holiday pizza lunch special deal posted outside. We were hoping to get some yummy pizza with toppings since my mom who was visiting from overseas had craving for pizza, but once we inquired about the special, the waiter told us that the special only includes cheese and tomato pizza, not any of the other pizzas with toppings on; however, he added that we could order the other pizza but just pay extra for the toppings. We said sure, that sounds fair. A little bit after we placed the order, a guy who looked a bit annoyed (manager?) came and told us that we could not order the pizzas we ordered with the special. He kept saying how the pizza we ordered were too expensive (BBQ Chicken) and can't be included with the special. He made us feel like how could even think that we could get such deal with the ultra expensive pizza! We don't even see why not, as we would be paying extra for the toppings (and we didn't even ask about price for toppings so they could have added them according to what they think is fair). The guy kept saying it'll be plain pizza with the special, and he looked upset enough that my husband said sure plain pizzas are fine to avoid unpleasant situation as it was supposed to be a day of outing with my parents. I don't know why they couldn't honor what the waiter said, even if he was wrong (though I thought was fair offer). How much more could chicken topping and BBQ sauce be that they are too expensive?? Pizzas came and they were ok, but the guy actually upset us enough that we didn't enjoy the meal. Why couldn't they just charge us the extra? Feels like they didn't think they would rip us off enough. The waiter, himself, was pleasant throughout the service, and I hope he didn't get in trouble for telling us the wrong thing. We wish they would have somehow honored what was told to us instead of retracting what was offered. My parents ate in silence and needless to say, ,we would never go back again.

Was looking forward to some at least decent pizza - based on a few reviews i read. Was a bit lazy to drive so asked for delivery. Was promised it would be here in 30 minutes, an hour and a half the pizza finally showed up. Wow!!!! I have never received an almost cold pizza before... This one was cool to the touch and was rather bad tasting. While there were more pepperoni on it than i cared for, sometimes more is not necessarily better. The dough was also soggy and just did not resemble a pizza whatsover. Garlic bread was greasy and was not good either. If you dont feel like cooking and want pizza, you are better off getting a CA kitchen frozen one than ordering from Gepetto.

The pizza smelled and tasted horrible. The sauce tasted like spaghetti sauce. The sun-dried tomatoes lacked flavor and the prosciutto was salty and not fresh. NEVER AGAIN!

Good pizza is so hard to find in the area, and if you have high hopes for Geppetto (like I did), well, prepare to look elsewhere. I've had both their thick and thin crust pizzas. I'd go thin if you decide to try this place. There's more flavor, as the deep dish crust just tastes like cardboard. This place really shoots itself in the foot with pricing. It's one of the many Italian places in the area that prices itself as a gourmet pie while providing none of the gourmet flavor.

Once upon a time - I was athletic, exercised, and was a member of a soccer team that would end of season party at Geppetto - 14 years and 20lbs later, sans soccer team - I still love this place. It's the place you pick up pizza from when you don't want to make a night out of eating pizza, but don't want the bore of the pizza delivery chains. In other words: it's better than domino's, but not quite as good as 2Amy's or Paradiso. On the other hand - it keeps better for take-out than 2Amy's. And I always get take out. Why? Because it's always filled with annoying ass kids on soccer teams.

I heard this story of the 3yr old and the screw (see Christopher F review below) from a friend and am completely appalled that anyone would act this way and actually accuse someone of planting a screw in a 3yr olds pizza. Imagine if the child had accidently eaten it, aye aye aye! Despite what their food may be like, who would want to eat from a place where the owner treats its customers like that. I for one will NOT be eating there again and will be sure to spread the word.

Had meatballs and spaghetti last night. I think they put some wine in them which is an added plus for those who like the taste of wine. I just wish the portions were larger for the price, but hey, I think our view as Americans is skewed when it comes to portion size anyway.

We had dinner here a few nights ago and the only reason we went was the location. I've been here many times before growing up but only a couple where I'm the paying person. We ordered their house salad, 1 drink, and a small deep dish vegetarian pizza. I think the total was just over $40. Salad: Nothing to complain about with this but there was nothing anyone couldn't do at home or from the Whole Foods salad bar. A few types lettuce, tomatoes and toasted pine nuts tossed with oil and balsamic vinegar. Initially we debated getting two, but then we saw a few salads being delivered and discovered their portions were very generous. We opted for sharing. We also saw a martini that was actually just called Absolut Citron. Per the menu it has that vodka, gin, Chambord, and cranberry juice. So, when a cup of ice with just absolut citron on the rocks, who was to blame for the mix-up? We waited longer than we should for our initial greeting. After our drink problem I had to tell the issue to two another waiters, one who I assume was the manager. Eventually a different waiter brought us another clear drink but this time it was in a martini glass. Somewhat fed up, I changed my order to a lemon drop instead which came towards the end of the meal. Thankfully, it was on the house, because at that point I really didn't want it. The vegetarian deep dish: I will start by saying the best I've ever had is a deep dish that I make using a recipe from Cooks illustrated for deep dish pizza. Geppetto is known for their more than generous toppings especially their pepperoni. It took over an hour after the order was placed for it to be at our table. My only issue was the vegetable topping had no seasoning so imagine a cheese pizza with a whole bag of bland frozen vegetables on it. This place is getting the two stars because of what I've had at other restaurants within a 5 minute drive of them. (seasons 52, Brio, and Bertuccis) Those places are just better run and have better food.

This place has been here as long as I've been in DC. It's a tricky little menu and I stick with salads. The waiter was excellent and very helpful - and quite accurate - in what I could and couldn't eat. i was there with a coworker, so we would up getting the same thing: caesar salad, no croutons with grilled chicken. Not exciting, but I can assure you the last thing I want in my lunch is dietetic excitement.

Pepperoni pizza sauce was not good. I have been trying to get my money back because the pizza had long hair baked into it and only 1 piece was eaten. I have talked to 2 people without satisfaction I just want my $19 back and they can have the pizza back. Will update.

A hidden treasure (??) in Wildwood Shopping Center. Small, intimate restaurant.... The tables were spaciously laid out so I didn't feel like I was sitting on top of the table next to me. I appreciated that. Lots of natural light too and a few outdoor seats as well. Overall, it lacked the coziness that I had hoped for.. Anyhow, the food was good.... not mediocre but not spectacular either. I had the eggplant parm --- could've come with more sauce and actual eggplant...it was mostly cheese! I liked the grilled veggies on the side. The service was great and dessert was yummy.. tried the carrot cake and I wasn't disappointed. I'd recommend trying this place but I wouldn't expect to be blown away. Pricey but that's to be expected considering the area. I'd like to try the pizza but after reading the other reviews, I'm not very hopeful that it will be worth it!

Ok Food--Not special--several servers in training,so can't criticize the service too much more costly than it should be ($11 glass of white wine)

I've lived right around the corner for three years and just now decided to make the trip to the legendary Geppetto's. I went with my boyfriend for a simple dinner of pizza and salad. Geppetto's is known for their deep dish, but being a native New Yorker, I wasn't convinced I would be amazed by their pizza. We each ordered salads to start, and realized after receiving them that we could have easily split one. We ordered a 14" inch deep dish pizza, as my boyfriend can usually devour a 14" frozen pizza on his own, and like our salads, realized that we had over ordered quite a bit. We could each only finish one slice of pizza, as the Sicilian deep dish was quite a lot of pizza! The food was great, and the service was even better. Our waitress was very attentive and prompt, and accommodated our every need. The bill for two drinks, a large deep dish pizza and two salads was slightly over $40, a more expensive pizza night, but certainly a good value considering the service, quality food and fact that we brought enough pizza home for another two meals. A great spot for a casual evening with a small group of friends.

We've been going to Geppetto ever since it opened, and it's a tradition for us to go there with my mother almost every time we visit her. Friday night was no exception - and as always, it was a positive experience. My mother & I usually order the vegetarian lasagna and my husband has tried various other dishes, all of which he's liked. This time he ordered the chicken parm, and the portion size (including pasta) was substantial. The servers have always been very pleasant and attentive. Geppeto also has an attractive interior and the prices are very reasonable for the locale.

First time here, wanted to try the deep dish primarily. The place is cozy, not too big, clean, comfy. Lighting is pretty low at night, glass topped tables with linens underneath, nice cloth napkins. Nice little spot, pretty romantic if you want it to be (sort of, kinda) but a nice family place on a small scale too. Great for 2 to 4 people, or more on a slow night. Has a nice patio outdoor area in the alley outside. Minestrone soup, for 7 or 8 $ (can't remember): a huge disappointment. Tomato soup with (no I am not kidding) 3 tiny potato cubes, one small string bean, and five leaves of baby spinach. Medium size bowl. Minestrone has to be all about the chockfulledness of the goodies, not the soup base. It had no pasta, no other veggies, was very thinny, skinny, mini. Not the sign of a restaurant that is paying attention to things. Bummer. Inexcusable. Service: excellent. Fast, attentive, polite. It was not busy the weeknight I was there. Bread for table: basic, Safeway-like Italian bread, no butter for it. Sicilian pizza, deep dish. I had the basic pepperoni. It's decent. I think in its day, when introduced to the DC area in 1974, it was something special, but time has passed it by and it's still using the same old make up, dresses, and wearing a wig. Pretty close to Uno's, to be honest. They pile on the pepperoni, so that it is sort of scattered all over the top but it is not baked into the cheese much at all so it cascades all over the plate and falls off when you eat it. That is kind of cool at first but then you realize that it is on the plate and not in your mouth where it belongs. I would try a more adventurous mix of ingredients next time for the deep dish to give it a 2nd chance. So the pizza is good, but not a stand out in any way. Prices are on the high side for pizza. For one person (my wife was still at work so I brought half the pizza home for her), one soup, and one soda, 9" pie, the bill was about 30$ before tip. Based on the quality of the food, I would probably opt for Armands or Uno's in terms of deep dish pizza, but the surroundings are not close to what Geppetto's is. I did not try any of the other dishes on the menu, but frankly the Minestrone fiasco kind of would steer me away from that. Only recommended for a nice cozy, clean atmosphere and decent deep dish. For pure pizza happiness, I highly recommend Pizza CS on Rockville Pike. Though a very different place and pizza, you will really love the food much more (only pizza there, though, and more relaxed atmosphere). If you are a true Sicilian nut, La Rosa carry out in Philadelphia on Broad and Snyder really rocked my world in a minimalist way last month. Amazing.

The four of us had dinner here. We each ordered an entree, some had beer, some had desert, and the total was about 100 for everything. However, walking in here felt like walking into a retirement home. Everyone was between older - ancient, and I was the only "ethnic" person in the whole place, one out of perhaps 30, which is okay. The food was okay. I had the mushroom artichoke pasta I believe. We also got that in pizza form, spaghetti and meatballs, and another dish I don't remember. While I didn't taste the pizza, all of the other entrees were okay in taste, not great but not bad. Sorbert and Key Lime Pie were ordered for dessert, and they were okay as well. Overall, this place is okay, just okay. However, reading the reviews below of how a person found a screw in his pizza and having the manager accuse him of planting it is a bit disturbing. I probably wouldn't ever want to come back.

Geppetto's Neapolitan pizza is one of the best I have ever had (and this is coming from a big pizza freak who also raves about 2 Amys pizza LOL). Their crust is perfect -- lightly crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside -- and the crust has a good thickness to it (i'm not referring to the deep dish version btw - I'm referring to the Neapolitan hand-tossed pizza). And the pizza sauce is probably the most flavorful I have ever tasted -- it is zesty with just the right amount of spices yet will NOT set your mouth on fire, and also has a subtle sweetness to it. The mozzarella cheese is perfect, it just melts in your mouth. And if you're a pepperoni lover like me, Geppetto's pepperoni is unlike any other place -- it is VERY tasty with a nice light crispness around its edges -- and they put a TON of them on the pizzas I have ordered every time. I usually order a Neapolitan pizza with pepperoni, onions, and green peppers. Also I should add that their green peppers seem particularly fresh in its taste and appearance. I also like that they offer you 3 types of pizza -- the classic hand-tossed Neapolitan (my favorite), the Sicilian (deep dish pizza), and the Delicato (super thin crust). And they offer a very wide variety of toppings too. I very strongly recommend you check out Geppetto's pizza sometime -- my friends and family love their pizza. Went for the first time in probably 15 years with a large group. Tried a ton of different menu items, pizza, both white and deep dish, vege lasagna, fettuccine alfredo, chicken parm, salads etc...All were satisfying. The place could use a refresh, but overall it served it's purpose...solid Italian food, in a casual setting.

Gepetto is one of my favorite local pizza places. They are one of the only pizza places that have amazing deep dish AND thin crust pizza! My fiance favors their Sicilian style, while I appreciate a good deep dish every now and again. They have definitely mastered both. Also, their toppings are unbelievable. Gepetto doesn't skimp at ALL when it comes to toppings. You will only believe it when you see it. The only negative thing (If you would call it that) I can say about Gepetto, is the decor with the wooden puppets.

I was really surprised to see the overall low rating on this place. I have never been disappointed when eating at this restaurant. My wife used to bring home extras from her job a few years ago when they used to order from there on Friday. Deep dish pizza is awesome and they PACK your pizza with toppings. It's a little pricey but for the quantity and quality it's worth every penny. One of my favorite places for pizza in the area.

The office ordered pizza from here yesterday. When I first saw it, I had very high hopes because the crust reminded me of Chicago style Gino's East. The looks are all they had in common. Don't get me wrong, the pizza is okay, but not great by any means. For what they charge per pizza, there are definitely better options out there. I guess there just isn't good pizza or italian in DC.

Just tear me a slice... of pizza... and santa

Went with friends last evening. Did not have a reservation so it took some time to get a table. The food was good overall. Had a ahi tuna salad and a small pizza that my wife and I shared. The food came out at different times and the thin crust pizza while very good could have been hotter. The biggest problem was the service was slow and they seem somewhat flustered by the crowd. That is why the three star rating. Maybe a Saturday night is not the best time to go. Again, food was good but they need to work on their serving skills.

I guess I've just had very different experiences with Geppetto's delivery. It's often been very slow (despite being less than a mile from my home), and the food is often lukewarm and no where near as tasty as my experience eating at the restaurant itself.

I've been to this location twice. I''d give Geppetto's 4 stars for their pizza, but one star for service. Both times, we found the wait staff to be rude, and felt rushed. They hover around from the moment you're seated, and demand your order without giving you time to look over the menu. The second time I went, (hoping the rude service was just due to someone having an off day) the waiter brought out the wrong pizza. When I pointed out that we had not ordered what had been brought to the table, the waiter whipped out his notepad and insisted this was our order. When we objected, given that I'm vegetarian and would not have ordered a pizza covered in ham, the waiter actually said "well, I don't know about you being vegetarian, but this is yours." We decided to just pay for our drinks and leave rather than argue with the guy. The manager did come out (the waiter ran to get him) and was very apologetic, but both my friend and I were so annoyed by the waiter's attitude, we decided it was best to go elsewhere.

I really really like the pizza at Gepetto! Lately I have been drawn to pizza that is more traditional with a crispy cracker crust and minimal cheese, etc...but I can't deny this pizza. The thicker crust and zesty sauce tastes like heaven and they aren't stingy with their pepperoni either! I can never finish a pizza on my own! The atmosphere is the downfall. Don't get me wrong, it is very traditional & nice...but that may be the problem. Every time to I go here I am the youngest person by far. (not including the wait staff) The place is always packed with Montgomery County's suburban elite. Nothing too exciting. I guess it IS in a strip mall (although one with some character) along w/ Balduccis and European antique dealers...not exactly a hipster joint. The setting reminds me of Prairie Village back in Kansas City (On the Kansas side, for those of you familiar with that area.) The usual cheesy Italian murals and old world antiques fill the space...as expected. Still the pizza can not be denied! Please open a place in Dupont or 14th street or something!!

Ok food. Reviews that mentioned diners in this restaurant tend to be white, old people are spot on. We were the only Asians there. Service is good but not great. Our kids were very behaved the whole time because they saw a sign outside that said free ice cream for well behaved kids. Unfortunately, they were disappointed they were not given any even after my daughter explicitly asked for one. We just assured the kids they could have all the ice cream they wanted once we got home. But still, they thought the restaurant was not true to their word =).

Disappointing, at best. We went with the expectation that Sicilian style pizza would be deep-dish-like. Not so much... It turned out to be just another thick crust pizza, $20 for a small veggie. Very quiet on a Sunday night, and definitely off the beaten path (ie, not close to metro). I don't think we'll be heading back.

Bear in mind, I didn't have the 'world famous' pizza, so my review is based on having eaten the italian food there. I thought that for what I got and the taste, it was most definitely overpriced. I had the chicken marsala, which was not like any I've had before. The chicken was in a sauce, but overcooked. Marsala sauce is supposed to be a fine sauce, not sticky. The chicken is usually cut into medallions, but this was a half breast in one piece, which was a bit unweildy. The flavor was only so-so and unimpressive. My husband had the chicken parmisiana, which was again nothing to write home about. The portions are ok, but the flavor is what I go for, not a whole lot of 'ok' food that costs too much. The restaurant itself isn't particularly fancy inside and is usually pretty empty. We only got one slice of bread before the meal and no refills on my iced tea.

Thsi is one of those places from your high school years that you looked forward to...getting pizza from Gepetto's yummmm I come back and is still good, but back then I though it was the most amazing pizza ever... I give it 4 starts because giving 3 would be fair the pizza is great, not as greassy as Papa johns or Pizza hut, The sauce is tangy, a good pizza don't get me wrong.... but 4 starts because for the memories...

Food: 3 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3 I came here with some co-workers on a Tuesday night. The first thing we noticed is how empty the place was, even for a Tuesday. The restaurant is not huge, but there were only about 8 people besides my party of 9. Strange... and a bit awkward. But it made our service that much better. The restaurant itself was nothing more than ordinary. Some Italian themed decorations and white table cloths. That's it. Nothing more. We ordered some of their Sicilian style (deep dish) pizza as an appetizer (1 slice each, which was more then enough). The pizzas very much reminded me of good Chicago-style pizza from Giordano's or Gino's East. The pepperoni pizza had so many pepperonis on it I couldn't even see the cheese underneath. Unfortunately, this (and the bread) was the best part of the meal. And the pizza left me less than hungry for my entree. One of my co-workers really wanted Veal Parmesan, but they only had Chicken Parmesan and Eggplant Parmesan on the menu. They did have some other veal dishes though. When he asked, the server originally said they couldn't do it, but when 3 other people at the table said they would order it too if the kitchen would do it, the server said OK. So in the end, we got our Veal Parmesan. Little did I know that it would have such a lackluster taste. Very plain. The sauce left much to be desired, and the pasta was overcooked. The veal itself was also a little bit tough. Maybe the kitchen was just mad at us for ordering off menu. Who knows?!? Would there be a next time? Maybe if I'm in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way. And I would only order the pizza.

I was very disappointed with the service and the food. I ordered the tuna salad with the dressing on the side and the tuna cooked medium. It came first with dressing so I sent it back. When it returned it came with two very small chunks and the tuna rare. Hardly worth it for $15. They brought my husband the wrong wine, messed up the bill and boxing the unfinished pizza.

I ordered from here via Takeout Taxi. My boyfriend got the steak and cheese bambino club and I got the chicken parmesan. Both sandwiches cost 26$ (the delivery fee via takeout taxi was 8$ plus tax which made the whole thing $35). The steak and cheese was pretty good, to be honest, but the parmesan chicken was so nasty that I can't ever imagining getting something from here again. The sandwich came sans the marinara sauce that was supposed to be on it and the chicken was really, really dry. I ate part of it because I had just finished walking the entire Crescent Trail and I was really hungry (was a bad idea to eat it, I had to take a few Tums afterwards). My boyfriend took a bite of my sandwich and spit it out into a napkin. I should have done that.

What a treat - a night out with good friends and some very enjoyable pizza! Our table of 6 was quickly seated on a Saturday night at 8 pm -- point to Geppetto's. The service was quick and friendly with drink refills appearing as needed as well. Our table split their Neapolitan pepperoni pizza and their thin crust white pizza as well as an appetizer of their Mediterranean Eggplant Dip. We each had a drink. And the total bill ended up being about $21 per couple. Not bad at all. The Neapolitan crust was almost light and airy -- certainly from the looks of it, I thought this was going to sit very heavy in my 9 months pregnant belly and heartburn was just around this tasty corner but to my delight -- no heartburn and I was able to enjoy the whole piece! The pepperoni on that bad boy was amazing. I am not a big fan of pepperoni on pizza preferring it sliced and paired with slices of hard cheese but these little morsels were very very tasty. The white pizza has a very, very thin crust. The crust is so think that I don't consider it pizza. Maybe it is more like an appetizer or a crisp bread. Don't get me wrong the flavor was abundant -- the combination of herbs and garlic in the right proportions. It just did not feel like a slice of white pizza to me -- now white pizza at Valentino's in VA -- absolute heaven. The dip was fabulous though it looked a little funny in its display. The dip inspired the childish side of our natures to arise challenging us to compare the looks of this dip to our things that maybe should not be discussed at the dinner table -- Alas what would our mothers say! Overall this was a very pleasant experience. I would definitely go back again to enjoy the pizza and atmosphere.

I thought this place was pretty good. I give them a plus for speediness, though I must admit my standards are pretty low... they came in about 25 min, which from my experience with delivery places in the area is pretty phenomenal time. The pizza was pretty good, though I did get the simplest pizza you could ask for, their small Sicilian style. It was good, but nothing mind blowing. I would have probably given Geppetto's 3 stars, but I'm docking them one for the size and price... a small was around $14 and would only feed the 2-3 people as stated on the menu if said people had minuscule appetites... Overall, I'm glad I tried it, but alas... I remain in search of a budget delivery place that is both speedy and delicious.

Consider Geppetto an old friend, from Georgetown days where it first opened. Geppetto Riccotta Cheese Pie is incredible, make it often using their shared recipe, always to rave reviews. Today tried Geppetto's for their Pizza Luncheon. If I hadn't, co-workers woulda called Domino's so I took on the task,.Happy to find the real deal. Silver Spring is outside Geppetto's delivery area, so we went to pick up -- it was easy, going 'round back, got their help loading to the car, tipped the fella who loaded the car. We had the Pizza Luncheon which includes the pizza, Caesar Salad, drinks, and chocolate chip cookies. Additionally, we got sandwiches without sides: just various sandwiches and subs cut in halves. Everything was good, though the pizza could have been hotter--seems to me that you shouldn't be able to touch the box of a pizza if it is done right---it would be too hot to touch. Pizza is excellent, thin-crusted has a flavorful crust that one actually EATS and not leaves aside. Their veggie pizza is the best I've had. Some places really tear up a veggie pizza, so drab and unnecessarily dull, but Geppetto's excels with an attractive and tasty veggie pizza. There is another offering of meatless, it is Artichoke, Sun-Dried Tomato and Red Pepper which everybody liked very well. The sandwiches were good, they had meatless choices that were excellent---most welcome to have meatless. I thought the bread could be better, in this city of artisan breads, getting spoiled to the better breads, but the sandwiches were amply-stuffed with grilled chicken, Italian cold cuts, eggplant Parmesan, or grilled vegetables. The Caesar salad came on a covered tray, suitable for sturdy-ness and attractiveness to be on a buffet table. Chocolate chip cookies were good, we had additional desserts, so we were not hard to please, the cookies were an addition to the cakes we had, everybody liked the cookies. The drinks were mixed sodas and waters, the catering manager, Melody, was right about the mixture she suggested. Geppetto's should be rightly proud of their pizza....so many places offering insipid pizza as they do. Watch out, Geppetto's Whole Foods is coming up fast....they will keep you on your toes. If you are planning an office luncheon, give some thought to Geppetto's. Remember to call ahead of time and not in the middle of lunch rush, wait an hour or so later. Money's worth, attractively presented, tasty offerings, doesn't get much better.

I ordered a Meat Lover's Sicilian Pizza (Large 14") from home. It was huge and packed with pepperoni, but it tasted so artificial that I can say I have tried better frozen pizzas...I don't recommend this to anyone, at least not to pizza lovers!

The pizza is good, but this is two times that they have screwed up our order and it has been late. The first time our pizza took 2 hours to get to us. The second time it was 30 min late and we ordered a cheese and tomato pizza with pepperoni but there are no tomatoes on the pizza.

Amazing.

Pepperoni pizza sauce was not good. I have been trying to get my money back because the pizza had long hair baked into it and only 1 piece was eaten. I have talked to 2 people without satisfaction I just want my $19 back and they can have the pizza back. Will update.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
