I just had the clam chowder and I think I walked out of the MET Bethesda with a stroke. I was a little hungry so we decided to go to MET to grab a quick meal/snack before watching Furious 7 at Arclight. The clam chowder was a little on the salty side. Actually, it wasn't just a little salty, it was a lot salty. I don't know if it was because we came in 15 mins before the kitchen was about to close, but who messes up clam chowder? If my first experience here wasn't great, I would have probably given MET two stars. My first experience here was on point. The burgers were cooked perfectly and the dessert, the OMG dessert, it was delicious. During my first visit the place was packed but everything still came out if not perfect, almost perfect. The coconut calamari (I think that's what it's called) is really delicious - try it, it's an appetizer. The seasoning/breading and the coconut mix worked well. Gives your pallet a pleasant surprise. The burgers - cooked medium well - came out on point and they were delicious as well. The second visit just threw everything off. For the second visit the service was meh and the food was MEH. We asked for teas but it took a good 7-8 min to get the teabags out. We were the given cups with hot water and a slice of lemon immediately, BUT no teabags. When we ordered the clam chowder we also asked for the check right away - our movie was at 11:05 and it was already 10:45. The server kept forgetting our check so we kept reminding her. My second experience was a complete 360 from my first. It seems like the service is better with more traffic in the place. Everyone like a restaurant with consistency. I want my food to come out great whether I come in when they just opened or whether I come in when they are about to close. You have to keep the quality there even though the kitchen is about to close in 15.

For happy hour, excellent. I am planning to come back and sample more of the dishes. Also has good "meatball mondays" and "taco tuesdays" specials. I think that were I not enjoying the ridiculously discounted happy hour prices, this would be a 3 or even 2 stars. The food is solid, but I'm pretty sure that $5 burger is $15 on the main menu. It ain't worth more than $11. Same for the various charred skewers. I have a moral objection to describing anything that is not made of gin and vermouth as a "martini", especially for these that could simply be called "cocktails on draft". And they're pretty good cocktails on draft, they don't need to be mis-named.

Great happy hour. Stopped in to check the place out and had a great experience. Chris was my bar tender. He was personable and very quick. Definitely the kind of bar tender who can build a following. If you're at the mall and looking for a drink either before a movie or when you just need a break, this is a good option.

Ok we love this place and the staff. The food is really good. The chicken Parmesan is not like anything I have had before. The food is really good here. The burger and the chicken sandwich rock. You can't go wrong with the grill meats either. Great stop before or after the movie. Ask for Ronan he is great and will take care of your needs. Don't miss out on their Lobster Wednesday! Best deal in town!

I came here for happy hour before a Yelp event at the Movie theatre. Didn't have any food however I had their specialty fruity drink on the happy hour list. It was the Met Punch for 6 bucks! It was yummy. Not a lot of choices for mixed drinks on their happy hour. So I just stuck with 3 of the same drink. Id like to try their martini's in which they are known for.

I had the MET burger. Pretty good. Cesar salad a bit bitter. Chicken parm great. I like the location too

This place has good food and very nice natural lighting if you sit by the window. It is the perfect choice if your across the way from Arclight and you have about an hour until your movie starts. Not sure what to classify this food under, seems they had a little bit of everything-which I like. Met's featured cocktails come in these huge dispensers and while my cocktail wasn't bad--whatever it was similar to an orange mimosa in a cocktail glass, I personally just like to see my drink being made. Hey! There's more chances I'll get topped off for good measure :0) The chicken Met bowl was good and it was healthy: tender teriyaki chicken, a little kale, egg protein, rice, and other chopped veggies. The staff is really cool and very talkative in a good way. The bill wasn't enormous considering I covered my sister for her birthday. However, they do have happy hour specials available Monday through Friday from 3 to 7pm. They'll see me again!

Met Bethesda you are marvelous. This is my second time visiting the Westfield Mall location. On my first visit, I loved your pork belly appetizer. It was crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. The bun was soft, crumbly and tasted sweet like cornbread. I inhaled the sandwich and have been craving more. I also was delighted with the special Beltway drink which was refreshing and on the sweeter side. Last night, I thoroughly enjoyed the steak tacos. There was plenty of meat with vegetables, cilantro, and a special sauce. They were cooked perfectly. The chicken tacos were tasty as well, but the beef was my favorite. I also really liked my mojito. It was sweet and sour with plenty of flavor. I would say that $12.00 was a bit on the high side for a drink, but it was good. I have always had the best bartenders who were personable and nice. They made sure we were out of there for our 7:00 pm movie showing. So great food, excellent service, and a beautiful view. Met Bethesda you didn't just meet my expectations, you surpassed them!

Met is such a classy happy hour spot. It's a large restaurant located right above the food court. It's hard to miss! Once you enter the restaurant there is a larger bar. The bar is breathtaking. They have a juice display for the purposes of their martinis. They have juice flavors ranging from caramelized pineapple to guava. I have to tell you that their martinis are a must. A big must. The martinis a sweet and unforgettable. You have to try their blood orange martinis. It has a thick consistency almost like the consistency of freshly squeezed juice. The service is efficient. The bartenders and servers are super friendly and super hard working. Because it is busy, it can be difficult to get a server's attention. However, I do see that as a good thing. If a restaurant is busy, you know their food and service is good.

All in all, I liked the Met. This visit, I tried the pork belly slider and Beltway martini as part of the Yelp Elite Westfield Mall Taste event. The slider was amazing, served on a cornbread bun and with a slightly tangy sauce. Lucky for you, they're going to put it on the menu soon. It came with the Beltway martini, which is another new creation of the Met Bethesda. It's a wonderful but not overly sweet concoction of elderberry liquor, El Corazon, green apple puree, and pineapple juice. It's one of those drinks that's fun to have, but you wouldn't want more than one. The manager here, Susan, is really passionate about this place. It's great to meet someone who believes in their business and wants to meet demand to make it a success. The way the Westfield Mall is set up, some stores get a LOT of sunlight on the west side in the evening. I like that this place has lots of windows, but it does get a bit bright on summer evenings. Also, the bar is huge, so great for happy hour, which is 3-7, Monday through Friday.

Bad timing? Wrong choices? Dunno, but I was not impressed, and it did not live up to the reviews. I stopped in for happy hour on the way to a Yelp Elite event at ArcLight, and ordered a Yeungling and the NY burger (bacon, Swiss, mushrooms). The beer seemed a bit watery, and the burger was undistinguished in every way. No char on the meat, very little flavor. Chewy, almost bland bacon. I've had real Emmenthaler (and paid for it with Swiss Francs), and that cheese never came within 4000 miles of an Alp. I still might have gone to OK, but even with the bar 1/3 full service was lethargic. Maybe the fancy drinks and cheffy food is a hell of a lot better, but this HH experience did not give me motivation to return and try them. Frankly, the food was better at ArcLight.

For a place that emphasizes their burgers, the burgers should be tasty and well executed - especially at the price points they are charging. For $19, the Met Bethesda burger was very disappointing. First, it was pretty small and a medium-rare burger turned out medium-well. The pretzel bun was toasted way too long so it was really hard to eat that. The saving grace was the toppings which were good. My server disappeared for a long time - over 15 minutes so I ate the burger. That's one expensive burger - you have to make sure it's perfect since there are many burger places at the mall- BBP is still the best one in the mall. I also don't understand their prices, because you can get a similar burger for $5 at the bar during happy hour. Will I come back? Yes for Happy Hour.

Dinner here was delicious. Came for my 40th birthday before taking part in my favorite pastime, the movies. I had sushi grade tuna, seared to perfection. My girlfriend had the rice bowl with tofu, she couldn't even finish it. I would of had the bolognese but didn't want it on my white shirt. Panacotta dessert was scrumptious. Service was fantastic, I had Kim. Bathrooms are super clean. Great place to eat on my 40th bday! Thanks Met.

Have you noticed? The foodscape is changing for the better around the Westfield Montgomery Shopping Mall and...... Met Bethesda - Metropolitan Kitchen and Bar is definitely one of the good additions. This review is long overdue. I have been to Met Besthesda on several occasions and I really like this place. The food is good and the service has been very consistent. I can say thus far that not once have I had an bad meal or experience. Met Bethesda, Westfield Montgomery's first true venture into contemporary restaurant dining and is located across from the mall's new movie theater, ArcLight Cinemas. The food is simple, American and the bar drinks are decent. It is a great place for a quick bite before taking in a movie, happy hour, or hanging out and eating in groups. The restaurant is a very large space and the ambiance is really cool. So now on to the food. This place puts a big emphasis on its burgers! The rest of the menu comes secondary to me.....other than the Mac n' Cheese! LOL! I have tried the: * "Avocado-Crab Burger w/ Thick-Cut Bacon" -- SLAMMIN'! Medium, juicy 1/3 lb USDA Choice Beef....Fresh Avocado, Cheese, Bacon, Jumbo Lump Crab Meat and Standard Toppings...NEED I SAY MORE!?....Delicious! I'm drooling just writing about it!! * "DC Burger" -- Medium, juicy 1/3 lb burger , Aged Cheddar, Bacon, Standard Toppings...THUMBS UP! No Ketchup or A1 needed!! * "Paris Burger" -- Medium rare, 1/3 lb burger with a Fried Egg, Truffle Oil and Brie...AMAZINGLY GOOD! I found all the burger I had to be finger-licking scrumptious. On both occasions the burgers were juicy, flavorful and cooked to perfection as I had asked for them. Other dishes...I liked included the: Brown Sugar Beef, Chicken Skewers, Fried Calamari, and of course.....Mac n' Cheese! All plates were delicious and the service once again, were both excellent and outstanding. The servers seem to go out of there way to make sure you are satisfied and accommodated. My only gripe with this place and most restaurants in DC.....Can a Brother get Crinkle Fries in these type of restaurants joints? I love them things!.....and it seems that all restaurants in the DMV never have them....only hand-cut potato/steak fries!!?? This is where the neighborhood 'carry-outs' definitely come in handy! Ooops...Sorry....I digress. LOL Overall, I would say 4 stars! The food is really good. The menu main-dishes rotate and changes which is always great. And, most of all....the burgers are on point! Being a carnivorous kind of guy, I tend to skip over the fancy stuff...food choices. The Mac n' Cheese, Crab Casserole and the Burgers alone, make this place worth a visit! HONORABLE MENTION: Located center stage, within the restaurant, is a huge full bar and something you don't see often.....a MARTINI BAR....On-Tap! Yes, you heard correctly. The Martini's are on tap, like beer, with a mix of over 20+ flavors to from! Lychee Ginger, White Peach, Coconut, Caramelized Pineapple and Prickly Pear...to name a few.

After coming here for a Yelp Elite event I was instantly addicted to the pork belly sandwich on the homemade biscuit bun. While birthday dress shopping I decided to grab one! I was seated at the bar as I requested and noticed it was happy hour. Awesome happy hour menu by the way. For my drinks I got $6 Met Punch which was really good. I ordered the calamari with the fire cracker sauce, 2 pieces of sashimi and 2 pieces of their roasted pumpkin. I also ordered another martini called the Arnold Palmer which was also $6! Very strong but so darn delish! For a solo happy hour I had a really good time. I saw a couple enjoying some beef skewers. I'm gonna have to go back and get those next time!

I was staring at the concession prices inside the Arclight theater when Brokea, goddess of frugality, spoke to me. She led me across the hall to this place where I discovered their happy hour specials. I had a manhattan burger, an order of truffle fries, and a "Not Yo' Daddy's Arnold Palmer." Naturally the drink came out first, which means that I am bound by FCC regulations to issue the following disclaimer: "The following review is a paid endorsement by alcohol. Ordale A assumes no liability for the validity of these claims." The bacon cheeseburger was delicious. It's probably one of the best I've had in a while. The bacon extend off of the bun in all directions, and the burger was juicy. The truffle fries... It was like eating little sticks of happiness. They came out in a fake mini-deep-fryer, which was cool. Maybe it's a fat person thing, but it was one of those meals where I found myself debating what would be my last bite, the burger or the fries. And everything came up to $16, which is still cheaper than paying 25 cents per kernel for popcorn across the hall.

I'd say Met Bethesda is a little better than 3 stars but not quite a 4 star. Met Bethesda is located in Montgomery Mall across from Arclight Cinemas, overlooking the food court. In the far back right hand side of the restaurant, there's a space to hold private events (e.g., intimate dinners) to celebrate a special occasion. My mom and I had a late lunch at Met today. They sat us at a booth in direct sunlight, which wasn't very pleasant. Our server Jesus was friendly, polite, and chill. The service was good during the meal but it was hard to find our server when we wanted to pay our bill. For non alcoholic beverages, they have Pepsi products. For drinks, we got iced water and an Arnold Palmer (which was a combination of unsweetened iced tea and lemonade). I wasn't a big fan of the Arnold Palmer. We shared the following: (1) Met French Onion Soup (2) Duo of Tuna & Salmon Tartare (3) Sweet Kabocha Pumpkin (4) Brown Sugar Beef (5) Green Guru salad The Met French Onion Soup was served in a white cauldron soup bowl. The bowl was filled with a sweet and salty beef broth, sweet onions, and topped with a cheese covered crouton. We enjoyed this soup. My favorite part was the crunchy "cheez-it flavored" cheese around the bowl. The Duo of Tuna & Salmon Tartare was served with thin taro chips. Each of the fishes were mashed with lemon juice, onions and chive but the tuna was very spicy (due to the spicy mayo). The funny thing is we requested the dish to be not spicy but it turned out to be spicy. It was kind of disappointed as the Taro Chips was neither durable nor crunchy as I expected homemade chips to be as good as Terra Taro Chips. The Sweet Kaboucha Pumpkin consisted of three slices of pumpkin with skin cooked and served in a sweet, dukkah (an Egyptian mix of herbs, nuts, and spices) and brown sugar syrup. This was one of my favorite dishes! The Brown Sugar Beef consisted brown sugar-spices-soy sauce marinated beef cooked with scallions and cilantro, and sprinkled with sesame seeds. This beef reminded me of the Coca Cola marinated beef I had at Hot Spot in VA. We loved how the beef has a sweet smokey flavor. According to our server, the top two salads were the most popular ones so we went with the Green Guru Salad, which consisted of kale, avocado, broccoli, shaved carrot, spiced pumpkin seeds, cilantro, and mint tossed in a green goddess dressing. It was a healthy choice!

Cool spot across from the new movie theater. Good to go to before or after a show. I came for the happy hour which is pretty reasonable (food and drink about 5/6 bucks). The drink I had, moco loco, was spicy yet sweet and tasty. I had the calamari which was top notch. I tried the fries of another friends and they were tasty as well. The service was ok. Not that friendly but not rude.

I would definitely recommend this restaurant. We started off with a few appetizers. The brown sugar beef was good. The salmon belly was ok. The calamari and the onion straws were excellent! My fiance and I shared the ribeye. It was huge! It reminded me of something from the Flintstones. The steak came with four sides. The Brussel slaw had a little to much pepper for me. The MET potatoes were very good! The roasted Brussel sprouts were outstanding! We didn't care for the truffle fries. Two other people got burgers. Both people enjoyed them. The fifth person had macaroni and cheese which was very good! The apple brown betty was good, but it was made with tart apples. It tasted like they make their own caramel sauce. The brownie sundae was good. The ice cream was very smooth and the whipped cream was fresh.

I've been to the Met 3 times since it opened, and I'm going to stop giving it chances. The last 2 times I was there I got food poisoning. I can't remember what I ordered the first time, but I ordered a salad with balsamic vinaigrette dressing the second time. I only took one small bite, and immediately figured that the salad hadn't been washed properly, of course I sent it back. The waitress or bartender who was working our table took it off the bill. I went home immediately after and began to experience the terrible symptoms of food poisoning. All of our servers have been. But they are very unprofessional, it took forever to get simple food or drinks out. The place itself smelled upon entry, it just has a really weird unclean scent. I really hope they improve the quality of their food, and no one else gets as sick as I did the last two times I went.

I visited w/friend (5/18/15) first time @Met Bethesda. We arrived just after 4pm for our early happy hour. What was striking @first was how empty the place was! Our bartenders were great. The happy hour runs 3-7pm thats a big plus. The happy hour DC Burger w/fresh tomato, bacon & cheese a tasty treat. The happy hour burger is smaller (8oz) compared to standard menu (10oz). The Onion Stings (thinly sliced onions fried in tempura batter) served in a mini chrome fryer basket is an artsy tasty appetizer. The place is a bit pricey if you venture beyond the $5.50 happy hour DC Burger. Worth a return visit the space is airy filled w/light, great for cocktails & conversation.

Great 80s background music the nite I went. Surprisingly large and spacious with great aesthetics. Hostess seemed to be clueless and seated people in clumps when there were many open tables. A legitimate bar-restaurant that happens to be located in the mall. Clam chowder was overly creamy IMO, but otherwise the food was good.

I normally wait a little while to review a new restaurant (to let them settle down and work out their kinks). But I had no need to wait here. We ordered the brown sugar beef, tuna sashimi, oysters, and mac and cheese (plus sliced sirloin...not even an option but the waitress didn't think twice before saying, "absolutely!"). The food and service were both surprisingly delicious. And when their computer didn't handle my weird sirloin request well, and they forgot to cook it, both the waitress and manager were extremely apologetic and took it off the check immediately. The floor-to-ceiling windows made the room so pleasant too. I think it'll end up a pretty great bar to visit. Final note: the bread basket is full of hand-cut buttermilk biscuits with honey maple butter. Reason enough to visit. REASON ENOUGH.

Went here for Happy Hour just to check out the place and their choices. Happy Hour is Mon to Fri from 4pm to 6pm. At the time I went (around 5pm), there were a lot of spaces available to sit around the bar. There are also places to sit near the bar as well. I mainly came because I wanted to try something from their Martini Bar. However, just because the Happy Hour menu says that the Martini Bar is $5 does not mean you get pick something from the Martini Bar. They already have 2 different Martini's picked for that price and it stays that way for a week; the next week they pick 2 different ones. So the choices they had for the week I went, I was not interested in having those. I opted to get the Lychee Martini ($12) - it was sweet and tasted like Lychee and I did enjoy it. I also decided to get the DC Burger ($5) with American Cheese, Lettuce, Tomato, Onion and Mayo. After my order went through, I was going to order some MET Truffle Fries as well, but decided to hold off. I am glad I did as my burger came with regular fries (didn't show that on the menu), so that was good to know. The burger was good and the fries were good as well, plus service was good too. It would have been nice if I could have picked my own martini choice from their bar (for the happy hour price), but I guess I will just have to wait to see what 2 choices they will pick next week.

Was back in my home town to visit the folks. Found this new spot, which is exactly the kind of place that are my favorite. Mini Chains that are stylish, with delicious food, wide variety, good portions and great prices (this is the "value" Indian side of me). And yes Met's in a mall, so that's a crazy flag, however it's in the hippest and most stylish mall in Maryland/DC/VA now. I did my parents 51st Wedding Anniversary dinner in the Private Room for 15 people. Great floor to ceiling windows, chandeliers, customized music and a TV to play a cool video made just for the occasion. Food: Excellent from start to finish. Highlights include Rice Bowl, Salmon, **Brussel Sprouts**, Any of the beef dishes, Sweet Potato fries, Apple Pie dessert. Lots and lots of more dishes that I want to go back and try - now that's a good sign for a restaurant Ambiance: Contemporary (hard to believe it's in a mall) Service: Fantastic. The manager NIGEL accomodated us in every way on short notice. He setup tables, decor, etc. as requested and attended to all the arrangements and our A/V needs. Our server ELIANA was fast, helpful, efficient and attentive - from refilling drinks and picking up plates, to bringing out food at the right time and managing a very large group. Both of them did an amazing job and deserve much praise, gratitude and a big THANK YOU! Hope there's a Met Los Angeles coming soon!

Had a double date here on Friday night. Bartender was nice and hooked us up with a tasty shot. We wanted patron and the other couple preferred lemon drops so he combined it into something really tasty. The food was good too. My fiance had the filet mignon and I had the tuna & salmon tartare and a side of cocunut calamari. There are large floor to ceiling windows but just a view of the parking lot. I would def visit again.

You know the saying, fool me once - shame on you; fool me twice - shame on me; fool me three times - stop being an idiot!!! Well I added that last one. I really wanted to give this place a chance but service can make or break a restaurant. First time I visited was on Lobster Wednesdays with a friend. We decided to sit at the bar cuz we figured we would receive exceptional service. Boy we were in for a surprise. Our bartender, cannot remember her name but she has long blond hair and she typically works on Wednesdays in the bar area, spent most of her time chatting with her colleagues, disregarding the patrons, and texting on her cell phone. When you try to get her attention, she would roll her eyes. Seriously, if you do not want to work, don't come to work. Second issue during that visit, she served me the house white wine in a glass with lipstick on it. Instead of discarding the wine altogether, she poured it in another cup not even topping off the droplets that missed the cup. Then the lobster special arrived...there was some blue plastic thing in my lobster tail but the manager claimed it was a tag to mark the lobsters. Honestly, I was too hungry to return it so I took it with a grain of salt and ate around it. O and when the lobster was served, no bibs, no napkins, no shell fork, no shell utensils to crack the shells open. I mean c'mon, use common sense. Even other patrons were getting annoyed at the horrible service from this bartender. The following week, I went for Tacos Tuesdays (I recommend the steak), and the service was amazing. So I thought maybe I didn't give this restaurant a chance and will try again for Lobster Wednesdays. Last Wednesday, headed back with my friend and saw the blond bartender so we decided to sit in the dining area. Our server Jason was much worse. He barely came to our table; we had to hunt him down numerous times to ask for simple things like water, utensils especially for the lobsters, menus, etc. We definitely noticed Jason's treatment to the gentlemen that sat behind us. He catered to them constantly and asked if they were ok, or if they needed anything. Only time Jason stopped by our table without us seeking him was to ask if we ready for the check. I will say he apologized for his absence throughout service since he had to serve many patrons (about seven other tables) but we felt like we were the redheaded stepchild. He even mentioned that he saw me the last time I dined at the restaurant so if he had preconceived thoughts, or more like assumptions about me, it still does not give him the right to treat a paying customer to an establishment. My friend and I did not become difficult so it was unfortunate that we were treated in this manner. My rating is based on the standpoint of disappointing service more so then the food. The truffle fries, calamari, steak tacos and lobsters were delicious. I noticed many people tend to order the poached egg on avocado toast and the pita platter if you want the healthier route. Who knows, perhaps months from now I might try to visit this establishment but I wouldn't hold my breath unless that bartender and Jason take accountability.

This review is for the happy hour - 3 to 7 pm. Great happy hour with well priced beer, wine and martini. $3 blue moon was not bad right? Their happy hour bar menu was also an attraction especially the brown sugar beef it was chargrilled it was so tender! Also liked the charred tuna. The fries were less truffle more parmesan. The guacamole and chips were also good. I would stick to the bar area for a better service and a panoramic view.

I dined here this past weekend because I've heard both positive and negative comments about the food and wanted to try for myself. Let me just say I have yet to experience TERRIBLE service like I did at this restaurant. The one server who dropped of our beers, spilled on the table and said, "Oops sorry!" and left giggling. Our server decided not to write our food down, so when I mentioned I didn't want any bean sprouts in my chicken rice bowl, it came out with a lot of bean sprouts in my food. It was almost as if they were making a statement cause I didn't want the bean sprouts. I was going to mention it to our server, but he was too busy horse playing with two other servers (tossing rag towels back and forth in the restaurant). I get it, I was one of the only 3 tables in the whole restaurant so I guess anything goes...? Anyway, I picked out the bean sprouts and lost my appetite after three bites of the chicken. There was a woman who dropped off the side of fries I ordered, and she looked miserable! She never smiled nor said anything until I looked at her and said, "Hi!!!! (Smile),* she then said hello back and rolled her eyes and walked away. I hope she wasn't a manager, because that would be beyond terrible! She was wearing a pink shirt with a blazer over. She hung out at the host stand and just looked miserable and upset to be at work (we all have bad days, I know). As I was walking out of the restaurant, she gave my guest and I, a mean disgusted look. I turned and said, "Bye, I hope your night gets better," and she grinned, rolled her eyes and gave me her back. Thank you for the experience.

Horrible service. Horrible. Horrible. Food caused issues later with everyone who ate food. All had different Serving was slow and they missed huge opportunity to benefit because of their lack of attention. I will never go back and suggest u choose food court over them going forward!

I have been here about 4 times. My husband and I always sit at the bar, we like the happy hour. Megan is the best bar tender there. My husband and I like their food. He has tried the calamari, the DC burger and the tuna. He liked all, except he thought the tuna had way too much sauce, very saucie. He enjoys their burgers, his favorite is the DC burger. They have a nice pure selection for martinis. I enjoy their avocado toast. One thing that gets me, is this strange oder when you walk in. I don't know if it will go away but its noticeable.

For a pricier restaurant in the mall Met was a dissapointment. Service: Informal and unmemorable servers who seem to have little to no knowledge of their menu. I asked them simply if their French fries were fresh cut in house and our server said absolutely. Lies. Clearly he should have used his server pad to take our order down, my friend clearly asked for no beansprouts in his dish - and his dish did indeed come out with bean sprouts. Although it was pretty slow in the restaurant for a Sunday night, the servers were in plain view throwing (dirty?) rag towels at each other and laughing at eachother. Gross. Atleast go in the kitchen when your guests can't see you! Also whoever the manager or hostess was, had an attitude. She didn't say a word while she clearly acknowledged us walking out nor said anything while dropping our food. Food: $19 burger. I don't like crab on top of my burger so I asked for it without. Burger still $19. Was it good? Subpar. Worth it ? No. Cheesecake Factory downstairs has bigger and way better burgers for $12. Back to the fries - not house cut! Frozen bulk from a bag & salted. My friend didn't really enjoy his rice bowl, we both ate half our meals and boxed the rest. Unless your just going for drinks at the bar I do not recommend eating here. Unless you like rude slow service with overpriced food.

So far so good! I love the ambiance and the servers commitment to satisfying the customer! It's right across from the theater my food came in a reasonable time the white peach martini is awesome! A must visit!

I absolutely loved the ambiance here! The waiter was very friendly and knowledgable about the menu. My boyfriend and I got the calamari to start with two salmon rice bowls. Tons of flavor! A manager even stopped by our table to check on us. Good stuff all around. An awesome place to go before or after a movie.

Signs all over the restaurant for happy hour items. Looked good, were seated in the dining room, only to be told that the happy hour prices were not offered in the dining room, but only in the bar (which was about 20' away behind a half-height wall). After complaining, the manager came over and granted an exception "this time only." The menu is very limited,'and on the pricey side, considering the mall setting. Chose the chicken parm, and the waiter warned us that it was really for two. Good thing we took his advice. It's a chicken breast (or three) pounded flat to a 14' round. Then Parmesan crusted, and covered in sauce and cheese. Served on a cutting board with a pizza cutter. Sort of like a pizza with a chicken crust. Although it was tasty, it was way to huge and filling. I'm not sure what the purpose is of dining in a restaurant and only having room for one dish. This was our second time dining here, after having salads for lunch (again, a very limited, non-lunch oriented menu.) We agreed that there's no reason to return.

I so badly wanted to write a review immediately after I finished the Paris burger that was cooked to perfection (but we had to high-tail it to the theater down the hall): Brie, truffle oil, fried egg, and possibly mushrooms, but I can't remember (I was halfway to being drunk). The burger was MAGICAL. Their fries are salted just right, and have a great crisp bite. Their brown sugar steak skewers were laid on top of sauteed green onions. The steak was so tender and just the slightest bit of sweet. Both paired with a really well with a light beer. Our server at the bar was so nice, and very excited for us to try the burger, which was one of his favorites. I'd like to go back for a full dinner very soon.

Been here 3x already and each time the food was delicious! Had lobster roll, the salmon bowl, tuna and salmon tartar with taro chips, clam chowder and fried calamari. all were very satisfying. the waiter we had was very attentive. The restaurant manager was very friendly and came by and asked how our food was. I'm looking forward to coming back and try out their HH drinks! also kid friendly! Will def be back again!

Four of us hit the bar and ordered light appetizers and drinks 45 minutes before our movie. We purposely chose food that was quick to make or raw to begin with, like fried calamari, shrimp cocktail and a tuna tar tar but there was still quite a wait. Drinks came out fast but food showed up 10 minutes before the flick started. Food was good nonetheless but we couldn't enjoy it much as we had to hustle eating in order to catch our movie time.

After the holidays, we were in a bit of a funk and decided to walk around Montgomery Mall for a bit. A crazy idea, right? Well we had a thought of early dinner and movie but not to be. MET Kitchen and Bar was right across the hall from the ArcLight Movie Theater and we gave it a try. It had the right atmosphere for what we were looking for. We really hit a jackpot with this one. It is a real gem. I had the rigatoni bolognese and a Blue Moon with orange and my husband had the brown sugar beef skewers with 3 fresh-baked biscuits with special cinnamon butter. YIKES! We ate these hot out of the oven and they melted in our mouths. My rigatoni was delicious and plenty for two to share or leftovers for tomorrow's lunch. Our waitress, Eliana, was terrific. She was personable and very knowledgeable re the menu items and bar. She was attentive, but not overbearing. The manager, Patrick, stopped by to inquire about our dining experience and we were happy to offer good things to say about the new restaurant-bar. We will definitely return to try out other menu items and to give the martini bar a test drive. All in all, a winner in our eyes.

Great restaurant in the new side of the eatery in Montgomery Mall, by arc light theaters. It's pricey, but still delicious. Try a martini from there martini bar. Their chef, Javier, makes great food.

I hate to be the one to do this, but this place has some of the worst food I've ever eaten. The service was friendly and the ambience was nice, but the food was awful! Appetizer: coconut calamari. The calamari was anemic and nonexistent. It was just a bunch of fried batter and grease. Also, the fried batter they served us didn't even have any coconut flavor. Paris Burger: Great idea. Brie, caramelized onions, and fried egg on a burger make for a winning combination. Unfortunately, the beef patty was so salty, I returned the burger to the kitchen. The fries that the burger was served with were cold Food this bad is just plain unacceptable in this day and age and at this (expensive) price point. Do yourself a favor and skip this restaurant next time you go to Montgomery Mall. Save your money. You will be better off in the food court (which has some great food, btw).

The Met in Bethesda and Ronan are the best!!!! The drinks are outstanding & tuna shashini was awesome . Absolutely loved the Meza plate. We will be regulars here & highly recommend this place.

The food was very delicious and had just the right portions. I had the MET Bethesda burger and it was cooked perfectly with fresh avocado and crab meat added as toppings. I was very satisfied! The service was very polite and quick with everything. I highly recommend eating there. Chef Javier knows what he's doing and you won't be disappointed!

I'm not sure why this place is getting such meh reviews. Sure it wasn't anything mind blowing, but the service was actually really good and the food was nice, down home country satisfying. It's right next to Arclight and so super convienent. The stand out was the sugar beef. Really moist and great flavor. I'm glad that we tried it despite the reviews. Also love that they take reservations! One of the only places in the mall I could find that did.

Popped into Met the other night for a drink. One of those nights where we weren't quite ready for the night to end, but didn't feel like going anywhere crazy. We sat at the bar and were quickly approached and given a couple menus. However, the bartender did not ask if we had been there before and they definitely have a different concept when it comes to their bar than others. Offering a quick explanation would have been very helpful considering they have only been open for a month. My friend and I each ended up deciding on a glass of wine since we still weren't certain what the deal was with their specialty cocktails. About 20 minutes after we were given our wine, another bartender came over to check on us (first time someone had) and we asked her some questions. She did a nice job explaining the concept and also showed us the happy hour menus. They have some great specials during happy hour so I will definitely be up for trying them out. She also shared that some executives from Boston will be coming down soon to develop a brunch menu....hopefully a boozy unlimited brunch that is always so wonderful in the DMV.

Good burgers and sweet potato fries. Menu is very disjointed and unorganized. Server was good at first but when he got a couple other tables he left us for a long time waiting for the check and then waiting to pick up the check. Ambiance is nice and it is a contender as another sit down option at the mall other than California Pizza Kitchen.

On Saturday night, I was looking for a calm place close by to have a couple of drinks and watch March madness with my girlfriend. Met Bethesda was great because it was not packed and we immediately found a spot at the bar to view the games. Their beer selection is limited but decent and my girlfriend enjoyed her strawberry martini. We ordered the crispy coconut calamari which wasn't bad but there wasn't a hint of coconut flavor. The sauce it's served with was good though. The bar is a good spot to chill and have a few drinks. Bartenders are friendly. I would go back.

If you are looking for a great restaurant with great service and food cooked to perfection topped off with a good beer, you're in the wrong place. But if you want to dine with friends and be served cold food, have your order repeatedly screwed up, have to drink your 5th choice of beer because the others were out of stock, be overcharged on your bill and be treated rudely, welcome to The Met. All the reviews that say the same thing are no exaggeration. I only wish I had read them beforehand. 1 star by force. This place deserves 0.

Horrible restaurant, but I'd go back to the bar. The food was fresh, but so bland. Nothing stood out. They also gave us two menus. The service was sub par. We waited for appetizers, then they brought the meal while we were still eating them. I live access the street, but don't think I will be back anytime soon.

Finally somewhere for me to eat close to home! I have lived in cabin john and my only solid dinning option close by has been the cheesecake factory. Met Bethesda is above the Montgomery Mall food court which can be hard to see at first but we found it. Inside the look is awesome, very modern and the booth we sat in was very comfortable. It was also very busy. The place was full of these amazing smells, I think from the wood grill. My wife had the lobster roll which she enjoyed very much. I had the kobe beef hot dog and it did not disappoint!! Definitely one of the best hot dogs of my life. Order this hot dog. I'm giving this place 5 stars based on the restaurants in the area and negative review I read below about the one star no salt lobster roll.

I was there for Sunday brunch and had an overall very good experience. The service was on point. The restaurant was beautiful and clean. Most importantly the food was perfectly cooked. I had the Cap'n Crunch French Toast platter. Delicious! really hit the spot.

Two words: Chicken Parm. Food is really good and tasty here. On the char-bar menu, the beef and chicken were my favorites. For salads, the chop and the green guru. The Mac and cheese is great with a crunchy top, the chicken parm is a massive piece of amazingness. Also crazy about the brussel sprouts. Truffle fries and buttermilk biscuits are also a must for the table. Come hungry!!!

This place is ok, but I think it's a little steep for a mall restaurant. The menu is pretty small and the cuisine is all over the place so there's a little of everything. For me that makes it a little harder to pick something to eat since you literally can get everything from Italian, to French, to Korean food here. The chicken parm is ridiculous- it's literally a chicken pizza! Very yummy but something to be shared. The rigatoni was very good as well! I did like that they have a huge drink menu! Mango mojito was also good! One other thing to note is that this place is a bit loud and it can be hard to hear when it's crowded.

The Steak was tuff with bad flavor, the potatoes and coleslaw that came with it were inedible. The clam chowder was scrumptious as was the tuna/salmon Tartar. Drinks were good. Service was amateur. While sitting at the bar two wait staff kicked my chair without an apology or a word of any kind. The hostess botched the text to tell us our table was ready by screwing up the area code from a local code to some a1,000 miles away. But at least is was over priced.

I was excited to try this relatively new restaurant in Montgomery Mall, but it turned out to be very disappointing experience. The food was mediocre, the service slow and the food over priced. For example $9 for a small bowl of soup. The server was not knowledgeable about the menu. I tried to pay with a visa gift card and was told they would not accept it. I never had that trouble before. If you want to grab a meal while at the mall, look else where. There are many better choices such as Cheese Cake Factory, California Pizza Kitchen, and Craze.

Reservation honored on time on a Sunday night. Interesting and pretty decor. While there is a dark ceiling and relatively dim lighting inside, there are large windows looking down on the food court which brighten up that side of the restaurant. First time here so we decided to sample a few different things. Would have been better if the menu on line listed prices so it would be less of a shock on arrival. I would say by comparison it is similar to Chef Geoff ($15 or more for a burger, 12 for the big bowl of chowder, less for a smaller portion, $26 for the special Chicken Parm dinner, which we were told was big enough for 2, and then steaks for $26-$30). Had a very nice server to start. Knowledgable about the menu and helpful in offering suggestions. We didn't try the special bread basket ($6) which contains special buttermilk biscuits. Others had ordered them and they looked good. Would have been better to me to offer them as a sampler with other breads similar to other places that are just as expensive. (Note to TMB&K - CG does a sour dough basket with honey butter complimentary. ) Split a small bowl of the clam chowder. It was nicely flavored and definitely not watery but still not as thick as I like it (spoon should stand up in the bowl thick). Soup came quickly but the Burger, salad and kids meal seemed to be very slow coming. The server told us 3 times the food would be up shortly. The kitchen needs a little more fine tuning as we didn't order anything complicated. Nearly 40 minutes while other tables that got sat after us ate and were done. Asked for a manager and even she didn't come over quickly, which was surprising. The Bethesda burger was interesting. Pretzel rolls make every sandwich better. Asked for medium and was done right. The eggplant callapraise was just ok. The eggplant didn't have a lot of flavor and there was too little mozzarella for our taste. Kids sliders were ruled very good by the 7 year old. Kids meal includes a drink and dessert. In the end the manager did come dessert. Said the kitchen was still getting used to the menu. Bottom line, the place needs to mature quickly. One would think that because this is part of a restaurant group that there would be loads of training wheels in from other places till they were up to speed. We will likely try it again after the holidays and see if it has improved.

OMG!!! This place is soo good. Me and the wifey went to see a local band and wouldn't you know she suggested drinks and appies at our new FAV spot Met. So we paid the babysitter to stay late as we always do and then we were off. I had so many goodies when we got there it felt like everyone was cheering for me! The wife just loved her specialty martini and the bartender couldn't have been more friendly. I really am not sure how we survived living without this place. I as you can probably tell will be back this week!

I was reluctant at first to go here with my family because the sign states that it's a bar, but it was wonderful and super family/kid friendly. The food was really good. We really enjoyed the coconut calamari appetizer. The menu listed a dipping sauce called crack sauce. We weren't sure what it was going to be like but it ended up being the most delicious sauce I've ever had in my life. A somewhat spicy and sweet aioli possibly? Not sure what was it in, but I dunked every piece of calamari into. My brother tried the tuna toga-something dish. It was seared tuna on a bed of griddled rice with some greens and different sauces/dressings. He really enjoyed it! We also tried the burgers which were great! You could get beef or turkey burgers and a number of different styles which just had different types of toppings such as bacon, crab, cheese, etc. The lobster roll was also delish! Surprisingly, my favorite side was the brussell sprouts! Cooked to perfection, garlicky and topped with cheese. The french fries were also a huge hit! Especially with the kids. They weren't just any fries but I cant quite describe them. Now on to the best part! The bar! They had delicious drinks and a "martinia bar" full of fresh purees that you could add to any drink (alcoholic and non alcoholic). The blood orange and lychee flavors were great! I will definitely make a visit back to try some other flavors!

we went for happy hour. Were basically ignored for much of it. FINALLY got a wait staff to pay attention. waited forever. When our food finally arrived--we had no silverware. Took a while to flag someone down to provide--we could never get anyone's attention though there seemed to be enough staff around. That being said the salmon bites were quite good as were the hamburgers. Guacamole was a rip off. we will not be coming back any time soon.

So I didn't have any food. I just went into the bar for a cocktail, and the bartenders SUCKED. I waited for 10 minutes to get my drink and there was NO ONE at the bar. They were just standing around making drinks here and there. The drink I had was delicious. So my bad rating is not for the product it is for the service. They wouldn't refill my water either. I had to ask every time and they walked around they just didn't pay attention to us at all.

Lobster Roll was disappointing. Fries were pre-seasoned so they couldn't give it to us with no salt. A friend ordered Medium rare burger and it came out raw. Yup. Not going to this place again.

The atmosphere of Met Bethesda was great! The restaurant is elegant and clean. The rice bowl was tasty. The filet mignon was also very delicious! The waiters are very friendly and give great service. The portion was a good amount. The Met's chef, Javier is great and his food is wonderful!

Met Bethesda had been opened 5 nights when we visited so I'm figuring some of the short comings were due to its newness. Nice open space, relatively big, next to the new Cinemas in Montgomery Mall. Called to make a reservation for 5 people at 5:30 and was told they were booked until 6:30. Thought we'd give it a shot for a cancellation or table in the bar area anyway. When we arrived the place was empty. When we left almost two hours later only a handful of tables were taken. Not sure how that constitutes being fully booked. Anyway, the best part of the experience was our waiter Alex, who was excellent. A couple of folks at our table have dietary restrictions and he was very attentive to those and accommodating. Even though he was new, he was able to clearly and definitively explain the menu options and his descriptions were spot on for what was good and what still needs work. Started with the Tuna and Salmon Tartare. Seems like about a half to full cup of each served with sliced cucumbers and taro chips. Both kinds had good flavors and the taro chips were fresh and crisp as were the cucumber slices. Two of us had the Met Brick Chicken which was flavorful. The skin was a bit overcooked (by the brick?) but the meat was juicy so it worked out. Served over a bed of 'cheesey polenta' which was greasier than it should have been. Flavor on the polenta was okay, but not great. Two of us had the Cedar Plank Salmon. One had a fishier smell and taste than the other. The one that wasn't fishy, was a bit overcooked but still had nice flavor. This where some modifications were made to the side dishes due to dietary restrictions. Brussel sprouts and Farro both were okay. Finally the Met Chicken Parmesan was exactly as Alex described, BIG. Apparently a big attractor for people that had been in so far. That was the best of what this dish had going for it. It's pounded out flat and round and shows up looking literally like a pizza, but there is no crust, unless you count the overcooked cheese on top. The sauce between the cheese and the chicken as mediocre, and the chicken itself while not leathery was overcooked like the cheese on top. Since it's served just like a pizza, round flat and on a pizza peal, it comes with a pizza wheel (slicer). Moments after it was put on the table a bus boy came by to retrieve the pizza wheel as apparently the restaurant only has one (which still seems odd since there was barely anyone else in the place and what happens when the place is busy and more than one table at a time orders this since it's so 'popular'?). The Caesar salad that came with this huge portion was also big and the dressing on the fresh, crispy lettuce was just okay. Other comments - menu is a bit hard to follow. Probably too much on it, and the way it's laid out with background pictures makes parts hard to read. While Alex was great, the kitchen was a bit slow, especially more so since the place was empty (what's going to happen when they get busy?). For what we had a solid two hours was too long. We also were visited once by a woman who we're guessing by her nice demeanor and way she was dressed (not like the rest of the wait staff) was a manager, but all she did was remove an empty drink glass and ask if we needed another. No checking to see how things were going, if were enjoying our meal etc. Seemed a little odd. Prices were a bit more than it was worth, but not outrageously expensive. If I could, I'd give them 2.5 stars, but will leave it at 2 until I come back in a couple of months for another try when they've had a chance to work some of the kinks out. If you go, ask to be seated at one of Alex's tables. He knows his stuff.

Went to this restaurant, first week it's been open. Convenient to movie theater. Wasn't that crowded when we got there service was incredibly ridiculously slow. Took us over an hour to get one salad baked potato a salmon burger and some brussels sprouts.I had to return my loaded baked potato twice because it was hard not loaded and have no butter worst loaded potato I've ever had in my entire life. The Barata arugula salad that was large was satisfying but I wouldn't call it large large it was just satisfying. My husband's salmon burger wasn't that great, the fries were cold not and the brussels sprouts he ordered were pretty poor not garlicky like promised. That said, we did complain given the poor service not due to the waiters fault. I would say it was more the kitchen and the manager gave us half the bill off so that was very much appreciated not sure I'll go back.

awesome addition to the ever expanding montgomery mall came here with some friends for dinner and drinks the menu is pretty impressive - keep in mind its a bit pricey though food turned out awesome; def coming back to try out some more items bar - fully stocked; bartenders def know how to poor heavy haha my one complaint - speed and service! wow, pretty bad; it wasn't even that busy but the service was super slow; constantly had to ask around for a waiter if they improve on speed and service, this place could be a hit!

I know that there must be a rational for this restaurant in this location but I be damned if I can see it. A $19.00 hamburger consisting of about 4 ounces of lean beef with literally no flavor at all, high priced decent cocktails with no pizzaz at all. What is the point? There is no reason whatsoever to visit this restaurant, none, nada, zilch. But if you do wish to visit, do so quickly since this place will not be here long. I read all the previous reviews so I wasn't shocked by my experience. Suffice it it say when a movie theater has better food and drinks than the restaurant next door, something is very wrong with the restaurant. Maybe when it is happy hour, the lower prices make it tolerable, but I doubt it.

Came here the first week they were open and had a great meal at the bar. The place smelled great due to the wood burning grill. We got a few items from the Char bar - the brown sugar beef and the chicken thigh - both well seasoned and very good. These items are inexpensive and good. We had a Crab Casserole which was rich and delicious. Other people had the Avocado Toast from the bar and several of the burgers which were all terrific. perfectly cooked. The Martini Taps are uber cool. They have something like 20 flavors. Worth going to see that feature. Awesome addition to the area.

I had dinner here before I saw a movie and then returned for drinks after the show. I had a 5:30 reservation which meant that the restaurant was nearly empty when I got there. It still took 1.5 hours for us to finish our meal (no appetizers or desserts, just drinks and burgers). We had to ask 3 times for water before it was received. There was no apology for having forgotten. For the prices they charge, I'd expect more. We generally felt like we were inconveniencing the staff while we were asking for things like water and extra ketchup. It wasn't even just our waiter - because we had the same poor service from the bartender when we had drinks after the show.

Tried Met for the first time last night before seeing a movie at arch light. We went with a party of 4 and made reservations beforehand. We ordered the guacamole as an appetizer which was mediocre at best. The service was terribly slow and it took about 15 minutes to get out cocktails. In addition, when the guacamole came out, we still didn't have silverware or napkins. The hostess told us they didn't have enough clean silverware and the manager was in the back rolling up silverware right now. That was totally unacceptable. Now for the good part, the food. We ordered the small grill bite Sashimi tuna which was in a ponzu sauce with a jalapeño on top. So yummy. The pretzel bun burger was out of this world and the fries (both regular and sweet potato) came out hot and crispy. Another in our party ordered the kale salad which was okay. Seems like comfort food is their forte and they do it well. Cocktails (when they finally arrived) were really good. Bottom line, if you plan on eating here, give yourself AT LEAST and hour and half. Service was slow, our waiter had no sense of urgency, but food was great. I think once they have been running for a little longer they will work out the service issues and things will flow smoother.
