Stromboli is a humble, low-key neighborhood restaurant. There is a seating area separated from cashier/kitchen area but it was small area and no window... I thought Stromboli would be better for take-out. I really liked the crust of pizza and Stromboli. Soft and chewy inside and crispy outside. I tried cheese calzone and cheese pizza. Portions are substantial. Both were made of PLENTY of cheese. I was pretty happy that I didn't have to ask extra cheese. Good sauce and plenty of cheese=foundation for good pizza. For $7, you get a calzone with all different combination. This is a great deal since calzone is about $10 ore more at most places. Fettuccine Alfredo was simple, nothing special about it but it was comforting and well flavored. Hogie got garlic butter and toasted to turn into awesome garlic bread. For $3.50, you get a full bag of Sweet potato fries. Can't beat that, right?:) PS: Stromboli card gets you a free one if you get 10! I would call ahead for pickup order. They do delivery too.

Look, the food is alright - pizza is okay, but nothing too special, though it is quite cheap. But the interior of this place is amazing. All of you folks who complain about it being old and dirty have completely missed the forest for the trees. The interior appears to be more-or-less unchanged since the early '80s! Walking in here is like walking into an '80s nostalgia time machine, but in this case, it's authentic! Honestly, if they updated the interior, I would give them one or two stars, but not even the most nostalgic hipster interior designer could not recreate such a wonderful evocation of the early '80s as has been authentically preserved at Strombolis.

Walk past this restaurant and eat somewhere else. Siri brought us to this place and now we are not on speaking terms. We ordered two different pastas and they were both awful. I'm not a snob, I could have overlooked the dirty, old, broken furniture if the food was good......but it wasn't. The staff was friendly.

PIzza was pretty good, not the most up to date interior but sometimes that makes the place even better! Would suggest it for a lunch spot or carry out.

This is a rare gem. Great authentic Italian Food for a reasonable price. The pizza dough taste homemade, Stromboli's are the best in town. Salads are fresh. I'm always satisfied. Family owned.

Stromboli's is without qualification my favorite pizza in Bethesda right now. It is also in my book the best value of its type that I've found in the region. I love fancy pizza, Neopolitan style, with nice wood charred crust, that costs $14 for an individual pie. Two Amys, Red Rocks, and their ilk have been a huge improvement on the dining scene here in DC. All that said, there is a time and a place for good, cheap pizza. Unfortunately, there aren't many places left that do it, and Stromboli's is one of the few. The interior is a dump. They have old school booths, slow service, and an arcade game from the 80's. It's also always empty when I go. It would be a great place to go with a team of kids or something, or a kickball team. I almost always get take out. The pizza itself is really solid. Especially the crust, which has a great consistency. They also have good toppings. It is the pizza that keeps me coming back. I have also had the spinach stromboli several times. I love it, but it has a bit too much cheese for my own good and so I usually refrain. That said, it is delicious. They also have gourmet toppings like artichoke hearts. Toppings like spinach are, surprisingly, fresh. They also have sweet potato fries which are yum. A large pizza with two toppings comes to $18. That is a totally solid price these days for pizza. If you want dive pizza by the pie in Bethesda this is the place.

Pizza review. Crust is excellent. Thin but puffs up at the crust and is tender and flavorful. Sauce is very good but I'd recommend ordering extra, as its not a saucy pie. Cheese is good quality and plentiful. I ordered delivery on a Friday night and it came in about 40 minutes, and I'm a good 3 miles away. They also deliver Beer!

I was a fan of this place until the delivery man pretty cursed me out because I did not give him a tip. I waited almost two hours for my order; and he was rude. I'm sorry, but that's not tip worthy behavior. The food is good though....

We've had delivery from here and have eaten in. Today we had a tuna sub, pizza, and a Stromboli. It was all delicious. They are generous with the cheese and the sauce is yummy. Great place to bring children. Friendly staff

Pizza isn't great but it's not THAT bad but they only get one star because the management/ownership is awful. Ordered delivery tonight and got the wrong pizza. When we called they didn't send the right pizza for over an hour and it was burned. On top of that they asked for their wrong pizza back to "make sure we weren't lying." Didn't offer a refund or an apology. When we called to tell them the pizza was burned and cold they offered a refund if we gave the pizza back. After many years in the restaurant industry I'm still in shock they asked for their food back when THEY made the errors. Both pizzas were sent back without a bite taken from either. Will never do business with them again. An atrocious way to treat people who have actually ordered from them many times before. Their delivery person was nice and apologetic and felt very bad but the manager treated us so poorly we will never give them our money again. There are plenty of other pizza places that have better customer service.

Best stromboli! Very cheesy and pretty large! I've had their pizza too and it's very good as well! Nice hole in the wall type of place.

Ive frequented this place off and on the past twelve years or so. They make one of the best authentic stromboli's I have had in the country. The food is always consistent and the owners are very accommodating. This is a total no frills come as you are type of place, which often attracts nearby high school students who come here after recess, study hall, detention, or whatever. Sometimes they are quiet and leave, other times the words that come out of their filthy sewers would make a sailor blush. Also the parking is not the greatest so try and find off site parking.

My wife and I have been going there almost weekly for "pizza night out" and we knew the owner/manager (a large woman) was really stingy. We only continued to go because the food was reasonably priced and the pizza thick with cheese and toppings. We have wait staff come and go - knowing it was likely due to the lack of business. We will not go there again after tonight - the owner accused me of "stealing soda" because I had brought in a Big Gulp cup half full and she claimed I was taking soda "to go". She also gave us grief because we asked for a medium sized pizza box to take our left over pizza (5 slices from a large) - the medium box has the room and is cardboard - whereas the small pizza box is paper. I have never been so bothered by treatment and accusations of "theft".... Well, their loss. I figure $35 per meal, 40ish weeks per year and 3 years of business....no more. There are over 100 pizza places in the Bethesda/Chevy Chase area. No need to return for poor treatment - ALMOST ALWAYS BAD SERVICE - and the restaurant hasn't been redone in 30 years, the bench's have no padding and the cleanliness is questionable. Now I don't know why we kept going...........

Quick service, terrible food. I will never order from here again. Placed order for eggplant parm and canolli 30 minutes ago. Just got here. My comments on the food: Eggplant parm consists of three ingredients: 1. Eggplant 2. Cheese 3. Sauce. The eggplant was essentially raw and undercooked. The sauce not bad. The cheese? LOL OHHHH THE CHEESE, there is none. The cheese on the parm was so thin I question wether it was larger then a 1 oz portion. (Picture to come). Only cheese on top, no where else. This means you somehow managed to mess up 67% of the eggplant parm. Additionally, you wanted traditional eggplant parm with breaded eggplant? We're gonna troll you and not do that, and not tell you either. The Cannoli is a damn joke. For $4.25 I expected a pretty hardy, fat Cannoli. No ... I received a pastry no larger then the width of my pinky finger. Cannot comment on taste as I'm still trying to put down eggplant parm. I somehow ended up paying 17 bucks for the two items. If you are considering Italian delivery, HEAD MY WARNING .... DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE. It seems there goal is to skimp on ingredients wherever possible.

We went back again this weekend and ordered a small white pizza with mushrooms and pepperoni and fettucine alfredo. Both were excellent! The pizza had lots of yummy cheese and the crust was just chewy enough. Very fresh and homemade tasting. The fettucine was a huge portion and my daughter declared this is her new favorite food. Hooray! So glad for this reasonably priced, family-friendly restaurant in Bethesda/Chevy Chase!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
