I absolutely love Caseys pizza. In fact I hardly ever get any other pizza. The pizza is very delicious and often they have sweet deals. Last time it was a free 2 liter with any large pizza.

Stopped in on a whim. Had the biscuits and gravy and eggs. Breakfast all day! And it was fabulous! Home made gravy. Very rich and good! I recommend this hole in the wall to anyone. Only downside is that the air evacuation unit for cooking was suboptimal as it got smokey in the building and I stunk like the food for a few hours afterward. Still though, this place makes great food. Small and fast mom and pop type diner.
Very delicious! Went with two others, ordered the Camp Dodge special with bacon and sausage. The bacon was done perfect, if you prefer a little crisp! Hash browns were made perfectly as well. Also ordered the Smothered Breakfast Burrito with Bacon Gravy! (I didn't know they made tortillas this big!) Anything will be amazing with Bacon Gravy! Lastly we also tried the Rise n' Shine Rarebit Burger with Hash Brown Casserole. The Rarebit sauce was awesome and the Hash Brown Casserole was one of my favorites out of everything! I would recommend all 3 of these dishes to any breakfast lover! There is definitely something for everyone! Service was excellent! Can't wait to go back for lunch!
Good food. Friendly service. Great portions. Good, big pancakes. Awesome cinnamon toast. You will not leave hungry.

Never been here for dinner but have hit the lunch buffet all the time. In my opinion this is the best all you can eat pizza buffet out there. The pizza here is cracker crust thin which i love and they keep the pizzas coming out every 10 minutes or so. Their parm/garlic dressing is more addictive than crack. i could guzzle it down by the gallon. Bottomline, if you are looking for a mondo carb coma, come here because you will overeat, but you will be happy while you do it.
Great veggie pizza! We were skeptical because it's not a particularly inviting storefront, but the pizza covered a multitude of sins-- aka, it was DELICIOUS.
Homemade pastas, sauces, ranch dressing, everything -- it's ALL good! Best buffalo wings in town. Have to have the onion rings, too.

Two reasons I came here, I heard they have good BBQ and I was curious about their Showdown Challenge. I attempted the challenge first...I won't explain my experience, you need to try for yourself. All I can say is I did not complete the challenge, but I was content with my result. After I recovered from the challenge I ordered the Longhorn, which is the Beef Brisket sandwich, their specialty. I need to say this loud...BEST BRISKET I HAVE HAD AT A RESTAURANT. It was juicy and flavorful, only better brisket I had in my life was homemade by someone I don't even know at a potluck. I had the mac and cheese and cornbread muffin for sides and they were delicious as well. This is a order at the counter style place and you don't need to wait long to get the food. The owner is a hard worker, he sat and chatted with us during the challenge, very nice guy. Great atmosphere here, cannot wait to come back again! No more challenge for me though...
My father-in-law took the family here once on a wild hair and at first sight, we were not very pleased. Located in an average strip mall in Johnston, IA we weren't expecting much but after having the food, I totally stand corrected! My wife and I have quickly come loyalists and have made it a staple of our "pickup after work routine". I always get the rib tips and wings appetizer because I've never found a better value for the quality. My wife loves their chicken strips (at a bbq place??? I know...) and their BBQ sauce selection is second to none. As a hot sauce lover, I love how many spicy varieties they offer... Did I mention $5 pitchers? Yep... Sold. Thanks, Dad
I finally made it over to Cactus Bobs a couple weeks ago. I had the Longhorn sandwich. Basically a pile of brisket on a bun. The brisket was probably one of the best I've had in the city! Their homemade fries were scorching hot and tasted great. The bun the sandwich was on...it was delicious...I know it's just bread, but it had a great texture and feel to it. I didn't care for the mac n cheese...the mac n cheese is WAY better at Wobbly Boots. My date said she probably wouldn't get the beans again either. I didn't try them... One simple thing that made the meal for me...the bread and butter pickle spear. I absolutely LOVE bread and butter pickles with BBQ. The atmosphere was good. It's self-serve mostly, but the service at the register and the pickup line was good. I liked the variety of sauces. I tried all three at the table and a couple of the signature ones in the lobby area (the burn zone). Their sandwich prices were fair. The prices on their meat combo entrees seemed a little high. We both stuck to sandwiches, sides, and a drink. I think the two of us ate for around $26.

Texas Roadhouse

I like the food from Texas Roadhouse but I find the atmosphere highly obnoxious simply because it's loud and the restaurant is poorly designed to accommodate people. There is a very narrow walkway between the to-go desk, host stand and four feet away is a prep area where the staff pickup these appetizer rolls. My number one complaint about this place is this gauntlet of people all trying to get seated, pick-up to-go food and staff buzzing around in a very small space. Once you're seated the music and everything else is very loud and their birthday song is very annoying and you'll hear it several times. Because of all of this I always get my food to-go. Generally the staff tries to do their best to get things moving in an efficient manner. I've generally have good service for dine-in. When ordering to-go there is a recording on the phone that sounds like it was recorded by a rodeo clown who's suffered brain damage. Make sure that when you get food to go you inspect everything especially condiments and sides to make sure that nothing was omitted because that can happen from time to time. Out of 10 times eating there in the past year the food was great 8 out of those 10 times. In all the food and service is pretty good but the place isn't managed or designed very well it's one of those places I think to myself "I love your product but hate your store".
I love this place! It's been my family's go to restaurant for birthdays and special occasions for years. Service is usually polite, fast and consistent. If you are looking for a fun, casual place to take your family to eat, this is it! If you are looking for a place to wind down and drink huge margaritas, then this place is for you, too! My favorite go to food is the buns and yummy butter, pulled pork and steak!
We have eaten at several TR restaurants and usually enjoy the food and service. This TR in Johnston had cold food, cremated ribs and slow service. We would go back to a Texas Roadhouse, but not to this one. We were not even approached by management when we complained.

This was excellent BBQ, and are server was wonderful, we went with a Large group of family. Most of us got the dinner for 2 with 4 sides and all shared was smart way to feed a lot of people and we had lots of left over. Sauces are awesome with great vatiety I will go back!!
Nice place. Clean, good bbq, friendly staff, and they had shiner bock on tap. I had brisket, pulled pork, and turkey combo. All 3 were great, and pork was exceptional. Applesauce was awesome. Only reason for 4 stars was the noise. It is appropriate if in a group out for a good time, but a little loud if alone or with family and you want to just go and relax.
Pretty good bbq. I sat at the bar and got faster service than you'll get at most sit down restaurants. Food came out less than 10 mins after order was placed. Nice staff and overall good bbq. They were featured on man vs food.

Had the Cajun prime rib with a side of brussels. The Brussels were off the hook. The prime rib cut like butter. I have no clue how it is so tender. I also tried the seared tuna. It was awesome too. The staff was friendly and attentive. I'll be back.
We ate there the other night and it was just like any other time we have been there. UNBELIEVABLE. We asked for something special and they delivered in an unbelievable way. What a time!!! We all had something different and fantastic. Great folks, but hey, you are in Iowa. I love living in the middle of nowhere. People who care and serve a product that is local or as fresh as possible. Try the pickle appetizer and gunpowder ribeye. WOW.
Old style restaurant, good pork loin and great wine choices. A bit on the pricey side for what you get but well worth trying anyway.

Best mexican resturant in the des moines area by far. Everything is freshly made and spiced to perfection.
This place offers quick, tame Mexican food for a cheap price. If that is what you want, go here. It's not fabulous, and you're not going to find a ton of difference flavors and spices.
This is one of those places that gains a local following with cheap, weak margarita specials and fatty Jalisco/TexMex food. Very, very slow service. It took about 15 minutes between ordering drinks and queso for them to come back and take our order. It's been about another 15 or 20 and still no queso. Food just came out. Pretty mich exactly what I expected. Not bad. Everything was a little burnt but it was fine. Guacamole looks processed. Shrimp's good. Frijoles are good.

Every time we come to Des Moines, IA I want to eat here at least once. Great place for meeting up with family. Food and drinks are wonderful.
Very disappointing. Baseball team went to try to get dinner and they wouldn't seat us even though there were open tables! Rude hostess too!
1 star is being nice. We had Shane for our server. He took forever to greet us and hardly made eye contact, didn't seem interested in anything for that matter. The chicken tortilla soup is nothing special. Very disappointed. If I ever am back in Des Moines, Iowa again I'll definitely never return here. Two thumbs down.
