Stopped in on a whim. Had the biscuits and gravy and eggs. Breakfast all day! And it was fabulous! Home made gravy. Very rich and good! I recommend this hole in the wall to anyone. Only downside is that the air evacuation unit for cooking was suboptimal as it got smokey in the building and I stunk like the food for a few hours afterward. Still though, this place makes great food. Small and fast mom and pop type diner.

Very delicious! Went with two others, ordered the Camp Dodge special with bacon and sausage. The bacon was done perfect, if you prefer a little crisp! Hash browns were made perfectly as well. Also ordered the Smothered Breakfast Burrito with Bacon Gravy! (I didn't know they made tortillas this big!) Anything will be amazing with Bacon Gravy! Lastly we also tried the Rise n' Shine Rarebit Burger with Hash Brown Casserole. The Rarebit sauce was awesome and the Hash Brown Casserole was one of my favorites out of everything! I would recommend all 3 of these dishes to any breakfast lover! There is definitely something for everyone! Service was excellent! Can't wait to go back for lunch!

I came in from out of town visiting friends in the area, they recommended this restaurant, and the recommendation was fairly great. I had the Buffalo Chicken Baked Pasta and it was exquisite! An explosion of flavor and spices. I commend whoever thought of adding jalapeño to the dish. Although it was on the watery side towards the bottom, this creation wasn't bad at all. The service was very polite and welcoming. I'm definitely coming back for more yummy goodness!

Yum. This was our first time eating here and we were surprised this place wasn't busier but we were catching a late breakfast so maybe that's why. My boyfriend had the breakfast Mac & cheese which was a 5 star dish--Unique and very delicious. I had the maple bacon waffle which was good, not great. I don't regret ordering it but there are so many other interesting things on the menu I will order something else next time we go (and there will be a next time). Service was very good. There was a movie playing as a different review complained about but it was one of my childhood favorites so I didn't mind. Brick House has claimed the spot of our second favorite breakfast restaurant in town.

Amazing! We tried this cafe for the first time today and loved it! Most biscuits and gravy are bland but theirs is homemade and perfectly seasoned! The best in town!!! We loved the interior it was very well done! Loved that they play family friendly movies! Our waitress was very nice and did a wonderful job! We will be going back!

Very good! Just popped in for lunch this afternoon and loved it! Quaint, cozy atmosphere and excellent service. I tried the rarebit burger smothered in homemade cheese sauce; awesome! My partner had the breakfast mac and cheese which was crazy good, too(and large portions.) If you're looking for a diner-esque feel with solid comfort food, definitely check it out.

I was in town for a few days visiting family and friends in Iowa. One of my brothers took me here for breakfast before my flight back to the DC area. I'm so glad he did! The food was outstanding! I had eggs over medium, sausage patties, and the delicious homemade potato casserole. Sure, I know...it sounds like an easy meal...but wow...everything was cooked perfect.Service was very polite too. I visit Iowa twice a year...I'm definitely going back to try a lunch or dinner meal.

Tried this cute restaurant for the first time today. There was a VERY loud movie playing in the dining room! We tried to move, but couldn't get far enough way, as the dining room is small. We politely asked the waitress, and she politely turned it down.... a little. The most annoying thing was two guys at another table that berated us out loud for making the request, and then continued to glare at us. EVEN THOUGH they were consumed with their cell phones and weren't watching the movie. A very strange setup. Food: Greek salad w/chicken was fresh and nicely prepared. Burger was delicious, altho didn't come with the tomato, onion, lettuce and pickle, as listed in the menu. The waitress asked if I wanted it and brought it out five minutes later. (Lettuce was mostly the unwanted white stem part from earlier mentioned salad, a very small slice of onion, one small tomato slice, and two pickle slices. Oh gee!!) Waitress was friendly, but never came to check on us, just brought the check. No beer or wine, and with a loud movie playing, you won't want to linger. Especially if other customers are acting rude. Bottom line. They need to figure out who they want to be, while they still have time. Not sure if we will return....

Meh, not good and not bad. I had an egg white breakfast burrito that was tasty but I could have eaten it anywhere, honestly. As a new Des Moines transplant I was looking for a place with a bit more character. The service was also poop. Yes, poop....and it was bad before I even got in the place. I called for directions and the waitress advised where the place was but, considering I am new, I needed about 30 more seconds of her time. Her response? I have to go, I'm kind of busy. Also, while I was there a guy walked out because his food was cold. That's a no no. The kicker, I saw one of the owners/chefs head in with a bottle of canned salsa, even the most basic restaurants can do a scratch pico de gallo. I won't be back, service is everything to me.

I walked in to what I can call an original. I'm from Chicago and am use to yelping in Chicago restaurants. There's nothing like going to a new place and finding an original food location. The menu looks delicious with everything made from scratch. The sauce for the burger is great. I would definitely come back when I'm back in Des Moines.
