Unbelievable views of the bay... Great tiki bar setting. Awesome deals on Florida sun cocktails. But best of all. Their fish tacos are second to none (not sure if that was just because they were the first I've had in months thought). $15 got me three blacked tacos that were so big the shell couldn't close. Paired with fresh tomatoes and onions, a slice of avocado on each taco topped with their own house made sriracha sauce, punching it out of this world. A must try if looking for a fun experience without the spring break craziness!!! Enjoy! Cheers!

Will try again. Beautiful location. Great place to watch the sunset and bring family.

This place is home away from home for me during the summer for two reasons. 1st I could almost walk there if I wanted too. 2nd the sunsets there are absolutely gorgeous. The food is pretty good and prices are reasonable. The service is lacking however. I'm there average one to two times a week and I have yet to be impressed or even moderately satisfied by the service. The exception would be a couple of bartenders that l know and tip well. But on a high note I must state that come the weekends there is no other place better for people watching! A diverse eclectic group including locals, snowbirds, vacationers, boaters, bikers etc... OK bands on the weekends. .

Three stars because this is one of my favorite places to go for live music and drinks...but not the food or service. Come here to toast the sunset. A beautiful setting to wind down from a long work week. Live music that always make you get up and dance. I only wish the food was good and the servers cared about their tables. If you ever get a table, you will be waiting all night long for someone to take your order. Beaches are restricted to residents and hotel guests. Restaurant patrons are not permitted.

Holy hell, I had no freaking idea anything note worthy was going on down any of the side streets west of U.S. 41 in southern Hillsborough County! I think I had it in my mind that it was all trailer parks and meth heads, to be honest. How wrong was I? Because a few miles down Shell Point road is a haven. A place Hillsborough County can be proud of. A place with a proper beach, sunsets and some cool places to get some drinks! We had just eaten dinner elsewhere, so food wasn't an option, but I wish it had been. Everything rolling out of the kitchen looked great. Jumbo shrimp, grouper, you name it. We just sat at the outside bar and knocked a few back while looking due west at Downtown St. Petersburg off in the distance. The dramatic changes in color over the horizon are deep and complex, and leave a lot to the imagination, especially since we can't even see all of them with the human eye. As day turns to night right in front of you, the grayed out St. Pete city skyline seemingly comes to life as the buildings turn black against the blood orange backdrop and light up via their endless stories of fluorescent light bulbs. It's quite a transition to witness. This place is on my radar now, and I will definitely be back, and next time I'm bringing my appetite.

This gets 4 stars simply for the atmosphere and sunsets. Sunsets are AWESOME here. They even give everyone a free shot to toast the beautiful scene provided by the sun setting over Tampa Bay. Drinks are good and these is always some sort of band playing and people dancing. An not to pricey. Only reason this isn't 5 stars is the food leaves something to be desired. It wasn't very good at all actually, but a great spot for you and some friends to sit back and enjoy a few drinks and mother nature's beauty.

I was a little worried because I had checked out other yelp reviews, And I read quite a few bad ones. I went here hoping for the best but expecting the worst. Boy, was I blown away.. I was surprised at how good the food was. Our table had chicken quesadillas, tomato basil salad, lobster and shrimp Cobb salad, blackened mahi tacos, and Parmesan chicken pasta. Every bit of it was great! The atmosphere was fun and there was live music. I would visit here again any time!

OK, tried it again for brunch, $20.00 per. The service was good but the food is terrible. There are much better choices in the area. The view is all it has going for it. The kitchen needs serious help. And I'm not that picky.

Great view...but I would never recommend eating here. Time number 4 of walking out because of bad service. I was seated tonight and I waited 25 minutes with no service and 3 other tables that came in after me were waited on, and I had secured a table with a view and people were allowed to block the view and smoke where it blew directly in your face. I keep giving this place a try because I want to like it...but it never gets better unfortunately. The menu is boring and bland. Let's hope they get a new owner or better management!!! The good news is that I took some pretty pics of the sunset. If they did not have that going for them...I don't think they would still be in business.

Awfully good for Ruskin, which from what I can tell has few if any public beaches. This still hasn't got a public beach, and has a lot of threatening signs for non-members, but you can meander your way back to this bar where people are generally having a good time, even in the rain. I got the Rum Bucket. It was $14.

Staff is awesome! Food is awesome. There are live bands like every weekend. Good to meet up with family or have a birthday there.

Food was awesome! The fries...omg the fries! Calamari and shrimp poboy rocked my socks off. Great service too although to be honest it was at a slow time (4pm)

Terrible service! Slow waitstaff runny grilled shrimp tacos. Have been here before but won't go back! It's gone down hill!

I had to stretch some to give my experience at the Sunset 3 Stars. First, if one is looking for a real on the beach restaurant, this one is about as close as you can get. However, the beach is well marked as a Private Beach and is narrow with limited frontage. It has a Tiki Bar with clear plastic wind breaks for cooler weather right next to a wind protected outdoor seating area. Indoors has a main dining room with about a dozen tables along the beach view windows, then back to a dozen more tables and further back, 8-10 booths. The indoor decor seemed outdated, dark and well used. It just did not feel like a beach front restaurant other than the window view. Our Hostess near the front door welcomed us with a smile and politely seated us at a ocean view front window. My friend and I arrived on Wednesday, about 12:30 pm. I was immediately disappointed by the uninterested style of our server. There was no welcome or any small talk as the server quickly asked what we wanted to drink. Without comment, she left and soon returned with our beverages. The same was true when our server took our orders. Our server's style was much like you often experience in any high volume tourist area where most guests are there for a one time visit. In our case, there were only 8 tables with guests and the restaurant was dead quiet and my friend was a local resident. As most know, poor service early on dampens the entire eating experience. I ordered the Lobster Roll sandwich at $14. It came with two small, Boston type buns (5") with a generous portion of the normal lobster mix. I thought it was surprisingly tasty and I was born in Gloucester, MA. Additionally, the French Fries were uniquely crunchy and definitely a cut above average for fries. Considering the restaurant location and a choice of lobster, the cost seem reasonable to me. The immediate entrance area where car passengers can be dropped off is well landscaped and tropical looking. However, any other landscaping within 100-200 yards is almost non-existent. In fact, I would describe the restaurant property as being just stark, nothing like you might see often in other up scale beach front areas in Florida. It is a restaurant that sits on a large flat area of parking lots. Also, it is not the easiest to find, especially at night. We experienced a Road Closed sign about 200-300 yards from the property and at first, thought the restaurant might be closed since signage showed it to be the road to the Sunset Grill. We drove a little further and found another road to the parking lot. The parking area is very large. I have lived on both the east coast and west coast. If the visitor is familiar with good coastal restaurants, the Sunset Grill will be a disappointment. If you have a guest and it is their first time at a beach restaurant, I'm sure they will like the view and sea food menu selections. For me personally, I would not return and will seek out a higher rated beach area restaurant, even if it required a substantial drive. The Sunset Grill definitely has more potential but I can only guess by other reviews that that the facility needs a major renovation, improved training of their staff and more casual or snack selections for afternoon and late evening entertainment. I thought the lunch menu was too loaded with many dinner priced selections and short on a lighter lunch type meal. Overall, our visit was't a bust but not one that I "Would write home about."

Tyler G (our waiter) made the evening for us. He suggested great food and was very detail focused in meeting our needs (new glass for drink refill, prompt getting what we requested). The view is great and the food is good, but our service was excellent!

We had the coconut shrimp and it was perfection. The shrimp were large and tasty and had a wonderful dipping sauce. We ate out on the Tiki bar. It's pretty casual, but it has a view of the ocean and a beautiful sunset. The wait staff was good. Kind of pricey .

Had a great time here! It's out of the way for sure, but had a blast. It's a little tiki bar in the Little Harbor resort in Ruskin. The bar is right on the water overlooking the bay and has a great view. Service was great and although I didn't eat, the food looked really good. I happened to come across this place on karaoke night and busted out a few songs and even though it's been awhile, I had an amazing time doing it. The people were so friendly and I made a few new cool friends in the process. I even did a spontaneous duet with a total stranger and we were pretty bad ass, if I do say so myself. Would've given it five stars but the beer selection is limited and the margarita was one of the worst I've ever had. It's also a little pricey, especially for a bar in BF Egypt, but the people and the fun I had that night more than made up for the shortcomings. Fun in Ruskin. Who woulda thought?

I truly believe the lousy reviews were written by competing local restaurants. This is a GORGEOUS spot on the water with perfect live music, delicious drinks (not weak!) excellent service, and absolutely tasty food at an incredibly reasonable price. We had the salmon entree salad, the chicken penne, and the curried chicken entrees and they were all DELISH!! Presentation was stellar. An absolute gem and we might just travel the 45 minutes again to dine here :) service by the bar and table (kaitlyn) was excellent !

The building & staff... This grill is located on the water, and this view is breathtaking. There's indoor and outdoor seating as well as bar seating. You can dock your boat to come grub. Our bartender was really nice and funny. The food... I didn't have anything special, just a Cuban, but it was spectacular. My friend got fish tacos, and my other got a grilled chicken salad. We were all satisfied with our meals. Overall, this place wins for me because you really just can't bear that view. The drinks...

Some dishes are very tasty, others just ordinary. Service always exemplary. Location on the water provides great views of St. Petersburg skyline. Sunsets are SPECTACULAR! (Lately anyway) Live music every night adds to the fun and happy atmosphere on outdoor patio in the evenings. Fish sandwich is sizable and tastes so fresh. Chicken curry has large chunks of chicken & pineapple. Sunday Brunch is good value. Chocolate fountain is fun!

Why do ocean front restaurants with stunning views of the ocean serve mediocre food and need a facelift? We enjoyed the ocean view and the sunset was incredible but other than that, the Sunset Grill is a disappointment. We first thought we would sit outside at the Tiki Bar but the live music was so loud that it was hard to enjoy our conversation. We moved inside to the dining room. It had a funky smell of old musty stale air. There were artificial flower arrangements on the ledge above the booths that were completely covered in dust....disgusting! My sister-in-law and I checked out the salad bar. It was your typical salad bar of iceberg lettuce with all the usual fixings beside potato salad, pasta salad, and fresh fruit bowl. The soup of the day was Cream of Squash. She decided to get it and as a vegetarian, it suited her just fine. I decided to just order a bowl of Cuban Black Bean soup with yellow rice. It was OK, nothing special. My husband had the blacken salmon salad that he enjoyed. My brother got the Mango Grilled Chicken sandwich with bacon and a bowl on black beans & rice which he said was OK. Our waiter said the house specialty was homemade Key Lime Pie. Luckily we only ordered 1 piece as it was so large that it easily feed all 4 of us. I was taken back that it had a meringue topping as I've never had it that way before. Also, the dessert plate was drizzled with raspberry sauce which took away from the taste of the key lime. We all agreed it wasn't are favorite. We won't be coming back here ever again. Other than the ocean view, it was nothing special.

Great hidden gem in the area! It's in a beautiful location, right on the beach. If you go, get the fried green tomatoes. They're served stacked with buffalo mozzarella, corn salsa, and finished with a balsamic glaze and peanut dipping sauce. PHENOMENAL. Everything I've ever gotten here is fresh and flavorful! The staff is very friendly, the presentation is good, and it's never been overly crowded when I'm there. Definitely a good date night spot!

Had dinner on the patio this past weekend for a friend's birthday, despite the on again off again rain. Heather took great care of us. Recommended some great food (seafood pasta). She also put in a sunday brunch reservation for us which was great. As a frequent patron of Sunset Grill I've never had the brunch and can say I will be back. Keith was our waiter and was very friendly. This is a great place to come and relax.

We have seen this place change over the years. Nothing has improved. The food is limited and the prices have risen dramatically. I don't think that we will return, sadly.

Love this place but be prepared for a wait on weekends or busy nights. Hate the indoor seating, hence the 4 stars but outdoors is amazing. Low key, great sunsets, reasonable prices, good food. Tiki bar is a great place to grab some drinks and wait for your table. People watching can definitely be entertaining. View at sunset is spectacular! A go to place for happy hour and a place I frequently bring out of town guests.

It's a good option when you're staying at the Harborside or Inn. We had oysters, two kids menu options, a few drinks, the coconut shrimp entree and the flat iron steak entree. All of the food was very good. Better or equal to flavors at any chain style family restaurant, seafood seemed quite fresh. Getting seated is tricky - you have to get there before 6pm to sit outside and know to find a hostess on the parking lots side (not beach side). Outside it's very much a tiki bar experience; reminded me of resorts in Mexico. We ate in the lounge and our server Keith was really really good. It was easy enough to go out to see the famed sunset **Note: We ate in the lounge. I get the feeling the restaurant sucks but the lounge and tiki bar are busy and therefore better.

Horrible service & food! Took 20 minutes to get our 1st drink, another 40 min to have our order taken and then when we received our food it was another 45 min and it was cold. After talking to the manager her response was "who cares go enjoy the sunset"!!! This was the third time I've tried this place HOPING that with the prime sunset spot they would get it together. No such luck! All us locals know to stay away...I knew better!

We thought we would try a new place. The atmosphere was awesome and the food was great. The view of the water was perfect. It's a little pricey but what can you expect when you're directly on Tampa Bay. Our waiter's name was Robby and he was very friendly and personable. We really appreciate good service! Thanks Robby!

Beautiful sunset on the terrace. Crab cakes more cake than crab. Tropical fruit salad featured Luke warm chicken, Luke warm lettuce, Luke warm tropical fruit and non-toasted almond slices. Perhaps the chef was off last night. The beer was delicious. Skip the food and have a beer at sunset.

I'm fairly certain it is a rare gem to find a spot that has a hotel, beach, watersports and tiki bar all located in one restaurant. For that reason alone, I wanted to check out the Sunset Grill. Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4 Food: 2.5 The menu looks yummy but the execution was low quality. I ordered a crab cake and was more filler than I would have liked. My appetizer was the shrimp skewer, which was so-so. The good thing about my app was the fruit, which really isn't saying much but does make me want to try out their salads. The atmosphere is casual and in party mode I could see how someone might think this is a 5 star. The chairs are patio style but in dire need of an upgrade. The band was playing just as I was heading out and sounded average. Less than 10 steps away is the beach, which is what really makes this place awesome. The servers and hostess were really fantastic. They really went out of their way to answer my travel questions.

Went there with a friend on Karaoke night. Unfortunately the Karaoke was the hit of the night. Started with French onion soup which arrived barely warm with a blob of cheese in the center. No presentation. Next up was calamari, again not hot, not crispy. Seemed to have been cooked in either old or low temperature oil.Next up was a Cuban sandwich which was ok, not great not bad. I am disappointed because I have a condo just down the street and Ruskin in general is a restaurant wasteland. Would be nice to have a nice local place to eat.

Upset. New menu . No more blue cheese chips. Looks like nice menu though. The food was fresh and great taste. Must have a new chef. Fries were spicy delicious. Coconut shrimp -excellent

  • Joseph L.

A disappointing meal. Sirloin was over cooked and tasted like it was freezer burned. Crab cakes were mostly cake, little crab and cold. Osso buco was edible, but lacked flavor. My side of broccoli was raw as were all the other vegetables on my plate. Most everything seemed like it was frozen at some point. However, the fries were good. With some fresh ingredients and a little attention to detail in the kitchen, this place could be so much better. Service was acceptable.

Great food, music and atmosphere. You can watch the sunset here without going all the way out to the beach. One of the best kept secrets in Tampa.

This place is like a dream, right on the water, complete with leather-faced regulars and beautiful servers. In the afternoon the rain comes in big wet sheets that force everything to be hurriedly rearranged. We were the last remaining party of a wedding that had taken place on the spot a couple days prior, and it felt so relaxed to be there in board shorts and sandals rather than suit and tie. Oceana was our server and took good care of us. At a table of five we had a Cuban sandwich, a salmon burger, a garden burger and a few other things I don't remember. The beers were cold, the food was delicious, the conversation flowed effortlessly, and the gulf was singing reflections of the sun all the while. Sandy feet, damp bathing suit, old friends asking questions, new friends that felt like old friends, the gulls chatting away, bronze skin, pretty girls... What else? It's in places like this that you can strike up a conversation that takes you places even as you sit perfectly still.

Beautiful view of the Bay with nice beach area! The food is terrible like really bad and service ain't great. We keep coming back because it's close and location on water is awesome. My wife and I have tried many items off menu and I can honestly say they all sucked. So if your wanting good food look elsewhere. If you're willing to sacrifice food for a pretty view and live music go for it.

Because website specified reservations were needed, I called & spoke to an unprofessional female, who giggled & emphatically said " No!" when I asked if I should make one. when I arrived, she seated me at a less than desirable table, though there were several empty ones by the windows...I was alone. I asked if I could have a window table, and she said, "you can take that one," waving generally toward the windows. I picked up my menu & chose another table. Though I specifically asked for four (yes, 4) lemon wedges with my water, server only brought one...not a big thing, but shows she wasn't listening. Ordered the salmon with saffron rice & green beans, with Caesar salad to start. I made a point of saying "no bread because I'm gluten intolerant". Caesar came with croutons! Listen much? Green beans were cooked al dente...not much you could do to wreck them, but saffron rice must have been poured from the bag to my plate!!! Absolutely uncooked & inedible! Not one grain was the least bit soft, & I really tried to find at least a tiny forkful I could chew. The salmon was cooked perfectly, giving me reason for the second star. When I mentioned the rice to server, who only visited my table when I was finished with meal, she offered me mashed potatoes. After I was finished with the meal! She did not, however, take anything off my bill! Manager visited other tables, including the one next to mine, but not mine...did I mention I was eating alone? I should include, I am an attractive (married) woman who looks about 10-15 years younger than my age. my hubby just couldn't come on this trip with me. Yes, nice view of the bay...through the chain link fence...Carnival cruise ship sailing away...but no walking on the private beach. I would not recommend this restaurant.

Went for lunch there today and not sure I will be back. Food was a 3 and service barely a 1. First round of drinks went fine, ordered food didn't go so well. Took forever for the food, two salads, cup of chowder, a Cuban sandwich and two fish tacos. They finally brought the two salads and Cuban sandwich, twenty five minutes later they finally brought my fish tacos and the chowder. Second round of drinks took forever. Server brought an unwanted piece of cake for my troubles and tried to double charge me for my meal. Food at best was okay. Too bad, location on water is great.

Great setting to have some drinks and good food. You're on the water and can watch the sunset or cruise ships in the distance. Very relaxing and enjoyable. Mixed crowd from elderly to bikers and everyone is having a good time. We had blackened fish tacos and they were great, get them with the onion straws and put the straws in the tacos. So good this way. Beers were only $5. Wait staff was a little slower than we'd like but overall good. We're definitely going back and will make this our little waterside dive. It was worth the 25-30min drive IMO.

Nice hidden place by the beach! Not quite a five star restaurant but they definitely have good food for a reasonable price. They have live music sometimes so you might wanna call ahead for the live band's schedule. Service is great. Good beer selection too. We had our kids play on the beach while we were here. There are only a few decent places you can eat out in Ruskin and this is one that I would highly recommend.

We were seated but then walked out. If you're offering a $16 per brunch, how about cleaning up the dozens of dead flies from the windowsill? Lots of living cousins, too.

Beautiful view with great food, what's better than that? Both my boyfriend and I had the Cuban sandwich, delicious! Added bonus: they were super accommodating with modifications to both our sandwiches.

So we decided to have a weekend he away in ruskin and stumbles upon the sunset grill. It looked good and the menu options seemed nice. We checked in and the hostess took out name down. 40 minutes later after seeing many tables open up and fill again I approached the hostess and asked if we were close to being seated only to find she hadn't transferred our name to her new seating list. We finally got seated and it took over 5 minutes for a waiter to greet us for our drink order. When we went to order food all the lobster and shrimp which is a good part of their menu was sold out, oh and we saw plenty of it being delivered whilst we were waiting.... Now I'm still sitting here and finally got my appetizer. I would have left but there is basically no where else to eat on the small resort location.

If you like watching sunsets on the water, be sure to come to this place and reserve your seating early in the afternoon... the service is so poor that it will take a few hours to get served. On the upside after all your frustration waiting, you'll have a nice view in the early evening. We literally had to flag down a hostess just to get menus. When the wench, I mean waitress, came to take our order she was in a rush and impolite. Hope you enjoyed your $1 tip. In all honesty, food was amazing and the atmosphere great, but the awful service I wish upon no one and highly recommend you avoid this place.

I wish I could give 5 but, the only thing well worth the 1 Star is tube Awesome Sunset over lookingTampa Bay! Went there tonight for the first time with a few friends.... Was really excitedto be out over their water and listening to some really good music. But, waiting 10 mins before. our server even noticed we had been sat and just as long to get 2 beers wasn't. a good start to the night. The 4est of our partyshowed and service didn't get any better. we ordered Calamari and a Hamburger. Being we are in Florida and sitting water side, I couldn't imagine the Cold Calamari with some cold white cheese on top would be served, not to mention it was cut in strips and really chewy like rubber. I think $7.00 for a room temp Riesling just a tad on the high side.....we aren't in downtown Tampa! But, did I mention the Sunset?

An experience that just only happens once unfortinaly for this place. The location was perfect but we didnt make it in time for the sunset :(. The food was nothing too great but average at best. The service was good but our waiter could have used a nice clean and deodorant. I orderd pasta with chicken and some type of saffron white sauce. Reading about it on the menu was very mouth watering. At first glance with the fetta and freshly top basil it seem to be a good meal. After the first bite i was not so excited at all. The taste was almost bland if it wasnt for the spice i would have just gone back to eating salad at the salad bar.

Outstanding location for a sunset drink or to chill out after a hot afternoon. Really, can't beat the views. They run 2-for-1 on some drafts and house wines, and the appetizers are pretty reasonably priced (and some, like the bleu cheese chips, are gigantic), but I haven't been able to bring myself to shell out the $18 they want for a burger. Service, from top to bottom, is pretty inefficient though. The patio area (definitely where you should be sitting) has three entrances, but only one has a hostess stand - which is really only intermittently manned. Go through one of the other entrances and be prepared to stand and wait until someone directs you the correct way. And getting seated is required, if you seat yourself you'll be pretty promptly told to go to the hostess stand. Table service is slow as well. One of the times I've been there, between dropping off the check and cashing it out was a 14 minute wait. And when that's at the very end of the meal - drinks empty, plates gone - it seems like 14 hours. Way too long. Of course, location and view make up for a big part of that, which is why we've been there multiple times, but fair warning.

Come here a lot but first review. Food always seems to have great presentation but for some reason it always ends up being cold. Plus service is always a step behind. Beyond that though the place is nice. Great view, always great entertainment, and you can meet some funny and often crazy locals.

My husband and I arrived around 6 on a Friday night. The 2 hostesses had their back to the door and were laughing over something on their phones. It took several minutes for them to turn around and acknowledge us. We were then immediately seated and then greeted by a pleasant server who took our order. I ordered the clams and substituted a salad for my fries. My husband ordered the Cuban sandwich and side salad. We both had soft drinks. The serving size of the clams was very small for the price and the clams were very tough, tasteless and very gritty - I couldn't eat them. My husband's Cuban sandwich was very small and was lacking the sauce that typically is on a Cuban sandwich - actually no sauce at all. Our server never returned to the table to check to see if our food was ok or to refill our drinks (our glasses were empty). I sat my plate to the front edge of the table. The server came and asked if I was done. I explained to her that the clams were unacceptable (I have never done anything like this before). She apologized and said she would tell the manager. The manager never came to our table to talk to us. She brought our check, with no adjustment for food that I could not eat! $41 for a very poor meal! When we left, the manager was at the hostess station flirting with the 2 hostesses! He must have been to busy to deal with more important issues, such as taking care of running a restaurant. Needless to say, we will not be back. As others have said, the view is good, but that is it!

Awesome coconut shrimp and calamari! The service was good and our waitress, Sara, was very nice. There is outdoor seating which is right next to the water with a great view. Prices are reasonable the wait staff was very active, constantly attending to customers. I'll definitely come here on my next trip!

The view is nice, and our service was excellent. Beer was thankfully two for one because otherwise would have been pricey. Grouper sandwich and crab cake sandwich were decent, nothing to bring me back. This is a nice local casual place. I agree with others that the smoking by other patrons is annoying. Also, the cheesy music they have playing is hideous and when you are right under the speaker it's even worse. Next time I will be picky about my seating. And speaking of seating, it is awkward that there are numerous entrances with a hostess stand at only one of them.

Going down hill fast. Food has dropped in quality. Not cooked as ordered over and over. They offer Karaoke on Monday and Tues. However the new Owner thinks he should tell the DJ/KJ how to run the show! This never works. The regular singers who come and spend theior money to sing (Many are very good) are pushed aside for the serving staff to ignore their duties and sing. After arriving 30 Min prior to the show we were upstaged by the KJ's family, and The Bartender. who screams into the mic and sings RAP. The result is the singers list has gone from 20 to 30 to about 6 including the in house employees. The attraction for Karaoke is to attract SINGERS. Not playtime for Staff. Enjoy

Frequent the Tiki for their fab sunsets on the weekends.....had few pricey tabs here and there when ordering food but was worth it - food has always come out delish...especially the sashimi appetizer... bar staff is sometimes a little on the cranky side and makes you almost feel like you are annoying them by ordering a specific drink...maybe the hot weather gets to them???

kind of a small place that does a lot of parties with their party room. located at the back, on the beach, by the resorts and condos off of shell point drive. food was overall good, service friendly, but not polished. place needs a good cleaning. look up at the pendant lights over the booths, full of dead flies! the tiki bar, attached to the restaurant but serves outside and has live music, is where the 40s+, leathered floridans of this area hang out.....it's fun to see a bunch of people who still think they're hot, acting like they're 21! back to the food- some highlights that were the best: -the sea bass special was absolutely delicious -the chips and bleu cheese appetizer is super filling and smothered in cheese sauce, bacon and bleu crumbles....loved it! a junk foodies wet dream!! -fried green tomatoes were delicious, with melted mozzarella and a balsamic drizzle, but they also came with an asian peanut sauce - why? odd. -the fish tacos were good, hardly any fish and the avocado was completely missing out of the avocado salsa that was described on the menu. -prime rib special was ok, they have no idea what rare is or med rare, for that matter. the au gratin potatoes were old baked potatoes covered in velveeta, not one of their best offerings....... go for the sunsets and some of the food.........i'd go back just for the location, food was overall good, nothing fancy. party room facilites are available

Excellent service. Was seated 30 minutes before close and they were still very courteous. They even messed up an order and fixed it for us. Try the twisted lifesaver if you like drinks

They get two stars for the view only...went for Sunday brunch, don't waste your time...food is bland, old, dried out and just bad. We can make better food at home...never again, definitely won't be back...go to Circles.

Our server was very nice. The view is amazing but the food is overpriced and not good. The platting looks like the chef is from the 90's. There was chopped parsley and tomato all around the rim of the plate. What we got sounded great on the menu but came out looking like a sloppy disaster and the chicken was over cooked. Next time I will make sure to pack dinner and just have a picnic on the beach.

Great place for drinks and dancing! Not sure about the food since we only ordered drinks. But the atmosphere is nice and very laid back so if you're in the area looking to have some fun, this is the place. Expect the music to be loud if you're sitting outside. The only downside is that they close at midnight on the weekends.

I'm a "sort of regular" to the Sunday brunch buffet and I keep returning because it is quite good. The best part is that there is no charge for "extras" like coffee or ice tea and the price includes two free mimosas. But for $20.00 the modest buffet includes carving station, smoked salmon, salads, blintzes, eggs of most any dimension and pies for dessert. For the price it would be impossible to complain about the offerings and the price is just right. The service complements the buffet. From the time you enter the hostesses greet diners and escort to tables and from there the wait staff does well to answer questions and serve beverages. Five Stars to Sunset Grill. Please don't change anything.

Horrible meal they just changed their menu and apparently the cooks don't know what's on it yet. I ordered the sirloin and it was over cooked. One person in our party ordered the chicken Caesar salad he said the chicken was over cooked and tasted nasty. Another person ordered blackened shrimp penne and the wrong meal was brought to the table. All in all it wasn't worth $97 for 3 people

We were so excited to try the Sunday brunch but left feeling very disappointed. The food was cold, mostly flavorless and just seemed mediocre. The best part was the omelet station. Brunch came with mimosas, coffee or tea for $17.95 per person. For the food quality, the price should be more like $9.95. If you're going to go here, go for dinner! Service was friendly enough but still fairly average.

Good views of Water....food is inconsistent. ...sometimes very good sometimes fair. Drinks are weak and expensive. Is a little beat up and a little dirty. ..hard to rate. ..had some good and bad meals...but at this price they all should be good and the dining area should be clean and kept in good up to date condition.

We stayed in Little Harbor and thought it would be great to stay on-site for dinner, so we went to Sunset Grill. At first, we went to the bar/grill side, but the music was unbearably loud that we left. (A note on loud music in a restaurant...I get that you want to make this a fun environment, but when you can't hear the other person who is sitting 2 feet away from you, that's a problem.) We ended up going to the other side, which is a more formal restaurant. It had a nice lobby, but the interior of the restaurant looked a bit worn out. It was a pretty large restaurant, but not many people in there. For some reason, they decided to sit everyone in the same corner. Why not space people out a bit? It was really weird. I was excited to have one of their daily seafood specials, since I figured it would be great being so close to the bay/ocean. I ordered the Grouper in spanish sauce. It was suppose to come with a side of asparagus (received 3 stalks...with the hard part at the bottom that they decided not to chop off), and another veggie. The fish did not seem to be cooked well, or it was a bad piece. Part of it was too hard, while the other part seemed too soft. My wife was pretty ambivalent about her meal as well. It is a shame that the food is not better, given the location. I think restaurants with built-in customer base, like this one, get lazy or complacent and don't feel the need to produce high-quality food. This was our first time in Ruskin, and there are not many nice restaurants within a short ride around Little Harbor, so we ended up going out further other nights. It's worth a ride outside of Little Harbor to find better places to eat. One other option on-site is Hooks, which just recently re-opened. We had lunch there one day. It is all outdoor seating and was an awesome environment. Service there was good and the food was solid (especially the gator nuggets). They do not show up on Yelp, but I will write a solid review once they do.

We had a little ruff start here, our waiter was very Rude. So we decided to sit out side the new waiter was great. But food was okay, liked the environment very nice by the water.

Such a wonderful location! Enjoyed a wonderful lunch outside with a margarita and tuna seared with octopus salad - an appie that was plenty for lunch. Sushi grade ahi that melts in your mouth and salad was fun and refreshing. 4 sauces not needed. Greasy chips not needed either but went ok with sauces. Nice presentation and reasonable price. Cant beat the view right on the Bay. All around good experience. Server was Josh and very attentive, pleasant and professional!

Never again , the hostess is to busy to seat you, the bathrooms are Nast , the food was quick but cold and the prices are stupid high for what you don't get but the flys were the worst problem landing on out plates ,hair , table just nasty and when I asked our waitress about the flys she said sorry ......ok never ever again

I really want to give this place four stars because here is what rocks: Food Atmosphere Location Here's what doesn't: Service Prices I've been here twice, and both times I've enjoyed it so much! The location is right on the water. Although it isn't the cleanest spot on the Gulf it does give a great view of passing cruise ships and sunsets. Little Harbor itself is such a quaint little area at the end of a single lane road. Love the laid back atmosphere here and how they don't pressure you to leave if you choose to spend the whole afternoon at a table on the patio or on the beach/tiki bar. Both times the food has been great. Servings are huge! Although the second time here, the blue cheese chips seemed a little bit underwhelming compared to the first time. The lobster quesadilla is a must try! And the deviled crab cake sandwich is a great option as well. The chipotle mayo that comes with it is a yummy condiment for dipping sweet potato fries into! I normally come with a pretty large group of 8-10 people and we all ordered something different and taste tested each other's dishes. Everything was good, nothing that I didn't shy away from for seconds. The prices of the entrees range from $12-$30. It's not the cheapest place, but for what you are getting, it's average. The drinks are good, but beware - the frozen beverages are $8+ and come in a small glass. Not so much worth the price. Second beware - if you order a side salad you will be charged $4+. When it came to service, both times - it was slow. The servers were both nice, but I can't even remember their names and we were there for over 5 hours both visits. We just didn't see them too frequently between drinks. Perhaps the days we went coincidentally were understaffed? Little Harbor remains on our list of yearly summer visit hangouts. Keep your eye out for deals on holiday weekends, such as St. Patty's day - 2 for 1 beers all afternoon! There is also an inside bar area and a more formal restaurant that hosts a Sunday morning brunch buffet. (You can still sit outside and order the Sunday brunch buffet and make your trips indoors)

Sooo good must eat pork shank! Sunday brunch is good as long as it is not a holiday normal brunch is full of bacon and egg station carving meat. Good views of saint pete and if it s clear you can see the sky way bridge.

We were visiting friends in Tampa and decided to drive down to Ruskin to be by the water. The setting is great and the sunset was the highlight of the evening. The food and service was another issue. Our waitress was very slow, forgetful and she just didnt seem to care. The food was bland and not worth the wait. The grilled fish sandwich wasnt worth eating. The cuban was one of the worst I've had. Never got drink refills,...Just a bad experience. Would NOT recomend

Always great food! Their Tuna Sashimi is the best in the area by far. Higly recommend this place for a great day or night out. Only suggestion, something to repel mosquitos at night ;)

First off, my fault for thinking this visit would be different than the last disaster I had here a year ago. The service is a nightmare, but expected when you see inexperienced college and high school ages running the place. I had to interrupt the hostess from her txt messaging just to get a table. The food...if you have any taste buds in your mouth, just go to the McDonalds in Ruskin and save your money. After waiting forever just to place an order...we opted out but the kids had to eat. Apparently cooking the chicken in a quesadilla at this place is a challenge...was raw. 15 minutes just to get a Corona. To top it all off, the restrooms will turn your stomach they are so disgusting. Since no stars won't work...what got Little Harbor 1 star for this visit? Mark Roland plays a good guitar and can sing well. Otherwise, Tampa has great places on the water I'll spend my money at. The drunk tourists can keep this place...

  • Sara H.

I ate there twice during my stay in the area. The first time they put in the wrong order and the food took forever to get to the table, getting a re fill was almost a task. The second time, the food took over an hour to get to the table. I was not impressed and would say the only reason to go would be to see the sunset. The food was just ok.

Good food, we especially liked the Early Bird Special (which was the same the two times we were there for lunch, not sure how often it changes). Decent salad bar, has all the usual suspects, nothing too crazy, but all good. The bartenders serve a decently poured drink. If you sit outside or better, at the bar, you can't beat the view. Yes, the sunset is amazing, but watching the wildlife at the beach is worth the price of admission for sure.

  • Anna M.

The view for sunset is stunning, the staff is great and quite friendly. That's it! If that's all you go for, you'll have a terrific time. The food is very disappointing. I ordered a well-done steak and of course it was rare. Sent it back only to get a piece of rubbery steak, still pink in the center ... Appetizers were greasy but not in a tasty way. Will not return

We went for lunch at noon in early November. We avoided the inside which resembled a high end car dealership or maybe a timeshare agency and had our pick of outside tables with a commanding view of the southern part of Tampa Bay. We were quickly met by a friendly and knowledgable waitress who manifested no outward signs of impatience even though it took us three visits to settle on our order, which consisted of conch fritters followed by a Cuban sandwich with beans and rice. The five fritters were fairly light and quite conchy. The two sauces -- a red pepper cream and a mustard citrus -- were plated in a nice looking sort of yin-yang swirl but didn't add much to the fritters. The waitress advised us to split one Cuban sandwich, and she was right to do so. We thought that the Cuban was excellent but would sooner talk politics or religion than the merits of Cuban sandwiches with Floridians, especially this far north of Miami. Of everything we tried, the beans and rice wee the only disappointment. We should add that for just a bit more money, we could have had one of two early bird specials, which on the day we were there consisted of soup, salad bar and either a prime roast beef sandwich or seafood Mac and cheese, but we just weren't that hungry. As it was, we took two of the fritters home. They traveled surprisingly well, and the sauces seemed to benefit from a bit of horseradish and mustard. We'd revisit the place at some time when it was likely to be uncrowded. The views were fine, the food was OK, and the unstressed waitresses were patient and helpful. At more popular hours, I suspect that it would be a lot louder and possibly more pretentious and certainly more boisterous.

Wow, what a great find! Little Harbor is a resort in Ruskin with a private beach, a great restaurant, and an outdoor tiki bar. They rent kayaks, paddleboats, jet skis, etc. I haven't stayed at the resort, but I've been to the restaurant (both inside and out) and was very impressed. I ordered the chicken salad croissant and it was delicious (loaded with fruit and nuts on a flaky croissant). The french fries are crispy and amazing - I'm not sure what they use to season them, but I wouldn't mind rolling around in that concoction just to lick the deliciousness from my fingers and elbows all day. Inside: the restaurant's atmosphere has a nice mixture of classy and relaxed. The entire wall is made of glass so patrons can watch the cruise ships (or beachgoers) float by. Outside on the patio: live music and large umbrellas at every table keep things laid back. Watching the waves tickle the sand reminds you why people move to Florida in the first place. Plus, beer and house wines are 2 for 1 all day everyday. This is a great spot to have a tasty meal and a cold beer while working on that tan that keeps your northern friends jealous year-round.

Great atmosphere, great service, but mediocre food. Its right on the water, great view of the bay, but the outdoor seating is part of the lounge which equals loud drunk people smoking within feet of your table. Food was nothing to write home about, especially for the price. Blue cheese chips are good, everything else was kind of terrible.

The Patio Sunset Grill has been a family favorite since it's discovery by my parents. It has a great view of the bay, you can see the buildings off in the distance on the other side of the ocean. There is a mini-beach and ocean right next to the patio and there is live entertainment Wednesday through Sunday performing covers of all kinds of songs. It's a very relaxing place to be. There is a dock nearby and many couples are married around the dock, the resort attracts all kinds of visitors and there also retired folks who like to visit the patio, so there is a wide variety of people. The tiki bar nearby tends to get a slightly younger crowd as well. The food is pretty good. Their calamari is not the best I've had but decently good. Their cheeseburger is alright, however it's their Harbor BBQ Burger that is really delicious and has Mango BBQ Sauce (you don't hear of that too much), melted cheddar, bacon, and crispy onion straws. You don't have to add any condiments it tastes perfect just how it is. Their Jack Daniels Ribs taste pretty good. If you're looking for an appetizer I like to order their Bleu Cheese Potato Chips, a unique and pleasant tasting dish. Service is usually pretty good, but on some busy days the servers get overwhelmed and can slip up. Overall it's a really great place to relax and have a meal and maybe some drinks from the bar and enjoy that Florida sun and view.

On the beach, great view, casual kind of noisy atmosphere, good food. The mojitos are terrible (they put the mint in a blender so there are little pieces throughout the drink) but they do well on other drinks. Service is always good.

Made my first trip to Sunset Grill today and will definitely be returning!! Our server Ken was great. Had seen a review they didn't mind you taking your time just to enjoy the scenery and they were right! If you're in a rush don't go here, not because of the service, but because you will miss so much...

I like the tiki bar but today can only say what is going on here...the food quality has gone down hill, they never have enough help...I think the management needs to get their act together. This could be a great place.

  • David T.

When we arrived at the tiki bar on Sat 3/1/14 we were greated not with a hello, welcome, etc...we got told that there are 10 people ahead of us that want drinks? As I looked around I noticed more like 20 very pissed off people that wanted drinks and food. The bartender was VERY overwhelmed and clearly could not handle this many people at one time. As the guests grew more impatient I noticed many of them simply walking away because the lack of attention they received. The bartender wasn't doing anything to help and was laid back as ever and could be heard telling guests that she "has it under control" and that "it gets busier than this" But here is the icing on the cake - she refused help from other staff members who clearly noticed what was happening. Second, she stopped during all of this to discuss and count her tips with what appeared to be the next bartender who was coming onto the clock. It was a mess in that place!

My wife and here came once by car while exploring potential boating destinations. We were told the restaurant was very good, and we tried the buffet. We found the food to be very good but a little pricey. The buffet options were limited, but based on the quality I sampled, I would have like to try the menu items. I can't recall right now but for some reason we never came by boat. It may have something to do with the distance from Tampa/St. Pete over water and the price of gas. We were never compelled to drive all the way from Tampa again either. If I was in the area, I'd stop by again, but I would not drive from Tampa specifically to come here.

Service here is consistently rough. I return here because my family lives in the area and it is one of the only waterfront places to eat. It's unfortunate, because the food is actually great -- nicely presented and prices are great for a waterfront place. The tuna tsunami appetizer is pretty awesome. However-- everyone that works here seems irritated to be working there! It ruins the experience which is why I give this place, with great food, only 2 stars.

A group of 6 of us went here for the Champagne brunch prior to boating. The brunch was $17.95/pp and included 2 mimosas and coffee or tea. There was a decent spread of options for brunch. I had the eggs benedict which was okay, but not great, due to the fact that it had been sitting under the warmer for a while. I also had grilled potatoes that were good, waffle and seafood mac & cheese - just okay, but another member of my party loved it. Others had the omelets made fresh, biscuits and gravy and the smoked salmon. Was told it was the best smoked salmon ever. They had a small dessert bar with a chocolate fountain that you could dip strawberries, marshmallows or rice krispie treats in. Even though our server didn't have to bring us food, I felt he was a bit slow at clearing away our dirty plates. Overall pretty good and a nice little place for decent brunch if you're in Ruskin but I wouldn't drive back over from St. Pete just for brunch.

  • ChefClaire D.

We arrived in Ruskin late and decided to just eat at the local restaurant at Little Harbor. Bad mistake. The outside dining was an hour wait so we decided to go inside. We ordered a bottle of wine that took forever to get to us. The waiter claimed no one orders this wine so they weren't sure where they stored it (?). We ordered fried green tomatoes--little strange with mozzarella cheese on them, but "fine". Then our entrees arrived and the waiter warned us that the plate was hot---well that was all that was hot. Food was cold. Coconut rice? Cold. Shrimp three ways? Cold. The whole night was a disappointment. There's no excuse.

I'd really go 2.5 on the stars. Drinks are good and the happy hour all day is great. Food is ok, but used to be better. Little Harbor is a nice casual spot to hang out. A good lunch spot. Their brunch is really good on Sunday's definitely recommend, just a little pricey. The things they need to work on is cleanliness and service. If you are outside at the bar they are good at keeping up with the crowd, inside service needs some help. A nice view, usually a good breeze. The wraps are delicious and chip appetizer is delicious. The ahi tuna is also very good. Little Harbor has turned into a local hang out spot and it's a fun lively atmosphere on the weekend. It was a bit of a long wait to sit a group of 8 together. So if you are going with a big group make sure to give them a heads up.

The views are great. The food is mediocre at best. We ate here once for dinner and once for lunch. The only thing that made our meal in the evening was our waiter, funny guy. I stiffed the waiter we had for lunch, he was extremely slow and inattentive. Would not eat here again if we return to the area.

I come here every time I am in Tampa for biz. My true Love: the Blue Cheese Potato Chips which are an amazing array of flavors : Kettle chips, blue cheese, green onions drizzled with Alfredo sauce and topped with friend onions and bacon. I call the gringo nachos and my colleagues hate me for always dragging them here but they learn to love them. Overall, i love this place, the vibe and the food.

I was only able to get here for breakfast, but did go 4 times! They have a breakfast buffet from 8 to 10:30 every morning. There are good options and they do change it up slightly from day to day. There are a variety of breakfast dishes, an omelet station, waffle station and continental breakfast options. All of this is only $8 -$10! Juice is extra, but you can't complain much. I didn't much care for the cheap restaurant coffee, but it did the trick! The service was good. Not anything special, but satisfactory. They charge a kids price which a lot of buffets don't. I never had any since it was breakfast, but saw that they had a good wine list if you end up getting here for dinner. This is a great (maybe the only) option if you are staying at Little Harbor.

  • Darrell F.

Sitting outside watching the sunset and listening to live music has made us fans. We prefer appetizers or sandwiches to the main courses. Our favorites are calamari sofrito, tuna tsunami, lobster & shrimp quesadilla, and fish tacos. Several of these are pricey, but good values and 2 or 3 are sufficient for us instead of a main course. The beer is always 2 for 1 and a hassle. Instead of cutting the price they bring you 2 glasses so drink fast or have 2 people drink the same thing. Each time you reorder the server has to go inside to get new mugs and then take them to the tiki bar to be filled. This can take a long time, probably inversely in proportion to your thirst. The first time we visited Little Harbor we ate at the inside buffet/restaurant side. We were totally underwhelmed and stayed away for 2 years. Only after we stayed at the resort several times while building a house in the area did we discover how great the outside Sunset Grill really is.

Where do I begin...we came for Christmas dinner and were disappointed to find a buffet. The buffet was not only limited in selection, but extremely filthy and not fresh. The quality and taste were really bad as well. An 18% gratuity was added on to the $25/head bill, and all our waitress did was bring us drinks. We were visiting from out of town, and if we ever make our way back to the area would NOT eat here again.

We're local. I am writing this review to help people who've never eaten here understand that Little Harbor IS NOT fine dining on the water. If that is what you want go to Circles in Apollo Beach. I've visited Sunset Grill many many times. Outside evenings around sunset you will wait an hour or more so, get there early or later or eat inside. The menu is changed just a bit as of last year. The best addition is the seafood paella. The best holdover is the Tuna Tsunami. The worst is the wings appetizer. Called Jerk wings. Awful. I went to the breakfast buffet for the first time more than a year ago. Poor selection. Poor quality. Went back a month or so ago and it was much better. My opinion on the menu is it's merely OK. I would put some inexpensive but good cuts of meat like a chuck eye steak and a flat-iron steak on the menu and plump up the burgers abit. Change the Jerk Wings to something edible and have unpublished daily specials for both lunch and dinner and LISTEN to the feedback of the customers. All this said, I like the place. I did say in the beginning that I've been there many times. However, if I lived a 40 minute drive away I would not likely make the trip. If you want more upscale dining come to my town and plunk down more cash at Circles Waterfront restaurant.

Horrible service! We went here as a party of 6, ordered sandwiches and they preceded of to serve us one at a time with lots of time between so the first person served at our table was done eating before the last person was even served! One of our party had ordered a glass of wine and 30 minutes later still had not received it. When this was brought to the waitresses attention she stated that she was not the cook or the bartender..so it was not her problem. The party that was waiting for her wine went and found the manager who not only couldn't be bothered to come to our table to apologize, but didn't offer to adjust the bill either. We are local and vowed NEVER to eat here again!

Went to have lunch today at Sunset Grill. Keith was our extraordinaire server. They were very busy and the outside patio was packed with retirees,as we are. We had the appetizer made with plantains. Delicious!! Can't wait to go back to have the Citrus Grilled Chicken Salad. Looked amazing! "Biggest seller". Thanks,Keith.

This restaurant is part of the complex where we are staying, and we went with some trepidation because ChefClaire wrote such a scathing review of it. In fact the service and food were very nice, and we were quite satisfied and will undoubtedly return over the course of the week.

Best sunset view and Tiki bar around. Highly suggest trying their wings with coconut dip and add the shrimps....

Best sunset spot in town. Also a great place to watch the cruise ship go by. The food is surprisingly good, typically a place with a great location can forget the food but not here. The burger specials on i believe Wednesday nights are a steal and it is always HH 2 for 1.

Expensive, but a good place to go for tasty food and to impress visitors to Ruskin. "Look everyone! I DO live in a really nice place, I swear!"

This is probably one of my least favorite restaurants in the Ruskin area. They take food and put weird twists that don't really work out, trying to add a beach-theme to everything makes sense since they're on the water but it just doesn't work well. Their service is pretty good, except it deteriorates pretty quickly when they're busy. Overall, if you're looking for something super different it works, but it's really not that great.
