Los Amigos Restaurant

This is the next Mexican in The area hands down. The chile rellenos are amazing. The enchiladas are tasty as well. They have an almost dry run sauce on them that is out of this world. This is real deal Mexican. Very clean considering the area it is in I would have expected the inside to be dirty and run down but not the case. The downside is that there is no fountain drinks. Canes coke only
Went for lunch based on yelp reviews- the food is perfect and prices are great! Try the 3 taco meal and pinto bean side.
Los Amigos is one of the best in Ruskin. The shrimp dish is highly recommended. Great food

Great service, ample portions and reasonable prices! The menu is varied and we love taking friends there for breakfast. The omelets are excellent! They often very busy and it is a relatively small place. Avoiding the typically busy times is prudent.
What a pleasant surprise this little gem was. The cleanest restaurant I've been to in I don't know how long, with a great staff and yummy food. We watched the busboy actually move chairs to sweep under the table. Yeah! There was no dust anywhere including the ceiling and the fans. Our waitress was darling and very attentive. I noticed when the other waitstaff was busy the friendly hostess got the drink orders. The food was delicious. I had Greek salad with gyro meat and spinach pie!!! My husband had the country fried steak and mashed potatoes. It came with salad, and a side and rolls. It was melt in your mouth good and seasoned just right. Pinot Grigio was tasty and only $3.50 per glass. To top it off had their good fresh coffee and cherry pie.
First time here. Great place! Great and friendly service, good food and low prices, clean interior. This place has been around since like 1983. If you are looking for a home feel this is a good place to go. Portion sizes are big so be careful not to order to much. I got coffee, a half order of biscuits and gravy and Scrambled eggs w/cheese. Way to much for me to eat. I would have been good with just the biscuits and gravy. Biscuits are homemade and so is the gravy. Definitely yum! I wasn't crazy about the eggs, the shredded cheese was just sprinkled on top and wasn't even melted. My hubby got French Toast, sausage links, and scrambled eggs w/cheese. He enjoyed his food. Our bill came out to $19 and change but could have been less if we knew how much food you got....we would not have ordered so much. We will definitely be back!!

Gosh you think my review sums it up 4 years ago but still what can I say it's the best! Fajitas tamales etc... I still find one of the most authentic Mexican food around not Tex-Mex not trying to be definitely Mexican food and very homey like being in your mother's kitchen
Having moved here from California where authentic Mexican taquerias are on nearly every street corner, it was a welcome relief to finally find one here. This is the type of place to come to strictly because you like this type of food, no bells and whistles. Food is simple, the menu limited, the staff friendly and helpful. We had beef tacos and pork tamales. Both were served with a small amount of rice & refried beans. The taco's were how we remember from CA. Shredded beef on two white corn tortillas. That's it! (This is so not Taco Bell!) The pork tamales were small, but delicious. The masa was moist, not dry at all. They put a bowl of raw onion with cilantro and a bowl of green tomatillo sauce on the table to "spice" up your meal. And spice it did! That tomatillo sauce was HOT! We got a couple bottles of diet coke and all this cost us $13. We could have eaten more, but this was just enough so we could stop by for our favorite ice cream shop for dessert on the way home. We are going to buy some carnitas and tamales to bring home next time. Make our own beans and rice, and smother it in our favorite red sauce. Mmmmm, getting hungry already! Give this little mommy poppy place a shot, you won't be sorry !
As a previous reviewer stated, "by Mexicans, for Mexicans." That statement sums it up perfectly. The building leaves much to be desired. I probably would never have set foot in here if it weren't for the rave reviews of the food. As an American, I was a bit put off by the dusty wares, and empty shelves in this little market. But, I strode forward, with an obvious hesitation in my step that caught the attention of the gentleman behind the counter who was quick to list off food that they had. We asked what his favorite was, and that was the torte de milanesa. It's simply a sandwich of thinly sliced steak which has been breaded and deep fried. The sandwich is topped with lettuce and tomato, queso fresca, avacado and a number of other things. And it was downright delicious. We almost immediately ordered another one. We also got two tamales which were right on the money. Absolutely perfect. While we were there, there were two Latino familes that came in, some average Joe's like ourselves along with quite a few business men. It was an odd mix, but these people are obviously in the know. We almost went back the very next day.

We get one of these subs for the 2 of us around once a month. They are tasty and worth the price. I really enjoy the dressing they put on the sandwich. The sub builders are a hoot. These are simply delicious sandwiches.
Recommended from a friend while I was house sitting for my sister. So good I ate here three days in a row! One of the best subs I have ever had! This place is a must!!
Its unusual for a sub shop to only have one sandwich to pick from but its a great sub. Tried it fully dressed how they recommend it, very tasty and the whole is huge. It's for sure a hole in the wall so don't go if expecting anything other than that.

Went there on a last minute weekend getaway. We were greeted by Karen and Will who couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. The people staying there were so friendly obviously because they were enjoying their stay. The pool area was very nice and bathrooms were spotless. The campground is located along the river with fishing piers and decks. We consider ourselves lucky to have found this little gem. I just wish there was a place to launch a kayak from that is the only reason for the 4 stars.

Ybor Grille

Reviews:
I really enjoy this restaurant. I work in Ybor City, so folks often ask me where the best Cuban food in Ybor is--I tell them Ruskin! The food is great, the prices are reasonable, and the ambiance is pretty nice for a rural area of south Hillsborough. Took my dad here for Father's Day, along with my nephew. We were seated quickly and the server was prompt, friendly, and courteous. We ordered a basket of mini deviled crabs, which came out hot and tasty! They didn't last long! I had the lechon asado (Cuban roast pork) with plantains and yucca. They serve a very generous portion of pork in mojo which I really shouldn't have eaten all of, but it's so good I couldn't stop! The plantains are served sweet (I know them as maduros), just like I like them, and they make a great pair with the garlic and tangy orange mojo of the pork. My dad had a salad and the soup of the day, which he raved over. They also serve Cuban bread and butter mashed with olives, which I can't seem to resist either. The owner came by and checked on us to be sure we were happy, which we definitely were. Since none of us had room for dessert, we topped the meal off with cafe con leche, which I could sip on all day. Too bad, as they had tres leches, which I love. I'll have to go back to try it sometime.
My husband and I are new to the area, and were invited to go to this restaurant along with a group of 10 others. We ordered the grouper sandwich, and it was wonderful, served with freshly made potato chips. Others ordered the Cuban sandwich and enjoyed it, and several enjoyed the sangria which was excellent. It certainly didn't taste "watered down" as suggested by another reviewer. Most of all, kudos to our server, Amber, who was probably one of the best servers I've ever had, especially given the size of our group. She was so helpful and efficient, and knew the menu inside-out.
Stopped in for lunch.we had the lechon asada, grouper sandwich and the bowl special with beef. All 5 star. The chardonnay was deliciously cold and the side salad filled with crisp greens and a killer balsamic blue cheese vinaigrette. For dessert the flan and bread pudding again borh 5 stars. Clean nice atmosphere and a wonderful waitress named Brittany. This is truly a little gem.

Just another China box restaurant . The lady at the cash register was more worried about talking to someone in the back than just taking my dang order. The place looked abandoned if the lights weren't on I would not have stopped . I'm kind of picky about when I hand someone money I would like them to hand it back to me and not just bump it on the counter. I ordered Orange beef and some shrimp fried rice 20$ for that should have stopped at McDonald's would have saved a bunch of trouble writing this review. I wouldn't stop here again ever !
Quite simply, given the few choices for Chinese food that are available in Ruskin, this one ranks at the top! They provide great service, and they cook the food to your specifications! I highly recommend this place to everyone on this vicinity!
I found this place to be just like any other Chinese fast foods. It was certainly tasty, but the dinning can use some deep cleaning and new floors. I ordered chicken fried rice and a Won ton soup. Along with pepper steak over rice and eggs roll. Good in tasting. Service was mediocre. Nice but the host had a hard time understanding people when ordering or asking for something. Certainly doesn't degrade the quality, but it is necessary in customer service.

Great hangover breakfast. The corned beef hash was excellent. The biscuit, the sausage, the eggs, well everything was very tasty. It was busy, which is traditionally a good sign, but does mean you may have to wait a bit for the food. But it was worth the wait. Cash only, so be sure to bring some... Cash that is.
I happened to be in Ruskin on business and was looking for a breakfast joint . I see this run down looking restaurant with a parking lot loaded with cars so I decided to check it out . I got the last open table and was quickly greeted by a server. This place was packed and everybody looked happy....a good sign . I ordered my breakfast and it was served quickly and was delicious . Really good breakfast at an amazingly low price and great service. I wish I lived closer because It would be my local hangout.
Grannies is another Ruskin institution that has seen decades of tourists and regulars alike. It is another family owned establishment, done diner style, inside a restaurant. On my last visit, still no upgrades & bathrooms still out back, behind the building. Yes, it could use a facelift or 2 or 3, but that has nothing to do with the food This is good for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Many servers have worked here for 20 years or more. There are many regulars, that have their special table & hang out their for hours on end. You also must watch the time you go, or you could be in for a wait. Yes, Grannies is that popular. For me my favorite mesl here is usually breakfast. On my last visit I did the standard eggs over medium, crisp bacon, hash brown's & whole wheat toast. They say the true test of a cook, is doing eggs properly. My eggs almost always come out perfect, & this was no exception. Bacon was crisp, no complaints, a nice hearty breakfast to start the day. All of this comes at a reasonable price. Gotta admit, if you aren't used to the interior & lack of any real appeal, I might be put off. Go with your gut, live a little, restaurants don't stay open this many years, unless they have something going for them. Just real down home food, for real folk. I enjoy spending time at Grannies & doing a bit of people watching & getting a nice hot meal. Don't expect miracles, but depend on sound family food. What's a girl to do? Keep enjoying some places for many years.

Not bad for a cattle call type eatery. The food is always decent and at a good price. Service is hit or miss but what can you expect? They turn a lot of tables and sometimes the kitchen gets overwhelmed.
Exactly what I expected. Decent food at a low cost. This location was clean and the staff were very friendly. They treated my toddler fantastic and didn't make us feel bad about having a little one who does their own thing. It's always nice to eat somewhere when you can relax and not worrying your children are a bother. The best part was the surprise of children eating free with an adult entree after 4PM weekdays in July. That was a welcomed suprise!
One star only because yelp would not let me leave a no star rating. Did not get to eat. We arrived at this establishment at 7:30 pm on June 19 2015. There were not many customers in the place at this time. We waited approximately 10 minutes before anyone acknoledged us. When we were seated we were told by the hostess that our waitress would be right with us. Our waitress brought our silverware and told us she would be right back to take our drink orders. We waited for 15 minutes for her to return to take our drink order. When she finally came to get our drink order she didn't even apologize for our wait. We told her that we were no longer interested in eating there that we were leaving. On the way out we asked to see the manager. We were told she would be right out. We waited 5 mins for her and left tired of waitng. Two off duty waiteresses came out and appollogized and told us they were off duty and if we came back in they would personally take care of us. We refused this offer. I think that this place needs to be cleaned out of management due to the fact that they sent off duty personel out to try to remedy the situation instead of management themselves. SHAME ON THE MANAGEMENT OF THIS BOB EVANS! Because of this i seriously doubt we will ever use or recommend Bob Evans again

Casa De Don Juan

Reviews:
Don't come for the ambiance, come for the food. Order the Don Juan Plate and loosen your belt a notch. Amazing food and you'll get to sample a bunch of different items.
From the outside, it looks a little janky, but the food was actually pretty good. My mother is Hispanic and she came along for supper tonight, and she stated some of the dishes were "authentic" Mexican dishes (the tamales, the flautas). We were both a little confused/interested in the brown sauce covering the enchiladas, as it was almost sweet. Our server said it was the way it was prepared in their region of Mexico. It wasn't bad, just very different from the "normal" red sauce. We both agreed the rice and ground beef in the tacos needed salt, but as I said, the food was pretty good. The restaurant itself was clean, and the staff was friendly.
I must admit, Mexican is only my cuisine of choice when it's smothered in cilantro and lime. Neither of these two elements were to be found in/on any of our dishes, which lead me to find the food pretty mediocre at best. Some items were over salted/seasoned - like the rice and beans. Others left much to be desired, like the guacamole and ground beef. For $6.50 you can choose 3 items from their lunch menu. My partner and I decided to sample all 6 of them and we found each of them to be pretty bland.... all except for one. The brown sauce (a mole sauce I think?) was downright amazing. My partner confessed that every time he and his family go there, every one of them gets the enchirrito, and I can see why. I'd go back just for this sauce. The service was nice as well, our waitress was very accommodating and sweet to each of the customers, despite being the only person attending the tables while we were there.
