Based on the great reviews, my husband and I decided to stop and give it a try. Glad we did! We started with garlic bread with cheese- excellent! Then moved on to pizza with sausage, pepperoni, and bacon. Being from Chicago- we have high standards for pizza. This pizza had more flavor than any other pizza we have ever had. Sauce and crust were delicious! Highly recommend! Will stop again!
This restaurant is amazing. I don't have enough words to describe how great it is. Its unassuming from the road but based on reviews we decided to try it. I am Italian & always am rough on any Italian restaurant. But this is authentic amazing food. My husband had a pepperoni pizza & I had the lasagna. We had a side order of garlic bread with cheese & meatballs. Everything was delicious. We have 2 cannolis waiting for us & I am sure its going to be another great taste. We will be back definitely. If you are in Matlacha & love Italian food then go to Pizza Bella!
AMAZING food. tried the wings - fantastic. garlic bread -- outta this world. pizza is fantastic. GET THE CANNOLI.. homemade and ever calorie was worth it.A even dropping a scalding slice on my leg couldn't stop this fantastic experience. highly highly recommend!

Le’s Oriental Cuisine

Reviews:
Our island life is made complete by the advantages of Chinese takeout!! It works it's clean and very very well prepared! Just ogle the woks! Last evening the cook/ maid/ dishwasher and general facto at our shack went on strike so we called an order in to Le's Oriental Cuisine. We asked for hot n sour soup, egg roll, special fried rice, chicken green curry and shrimp in coconut broth. We loved the shrimp and the chicken dishes very much indeed!!! The hot n sour soup would be improved w white pepper and more vinegar. The brown fried rice was a little dry and the egg roll a bit soggy. All in all carefully skirt the mundane and dive in to the HOT dishes. The serving size is shareable so do not over order as we did. I'm still nibbling on the leftovers...... We think this will be a fabulous find to counter balance our takeout from pizza Bella when that irritatingly lazy cook at our shack decides at the last minute to throw in the towel.
I have been eating at Le's since she opened about 20 years ago. From day one she used quality ingredients and there was a noticeable difference between her Oriental food when compared to Chinese restaurants in Cape Coral and Fort Myers. Big pieces of white meat chicken, tender beef and pork as well as huge shrimp. I love the food there! On Friday and Saturday evenings it's best to call early because she gets very busy and it can take a little time to get your order but it is well worth the wait.
A complete surprise, stopped off in this location and walked in to be greeted by the owner. She is hilarious and down to earth, answered all of our questions. I settled on the peanut chicken with coconut sauce. HUGE portions, we literally watched her cook it fresh and it was absolutely delicious. Loved hearing the locals come in and chat while we ate- and she checked on us multiple times and offered to go boxes and bags and utensils. Highly recommended, wonderful taste. Totally worth the drive and ambiance!

Excellent food! Friendly and attentive staff! If you're a foodie-the Blue Dog is a restaurant you won't want to pass up! You'll definitely want to go back and try another dish! This will be a regular place for me when I'm staying in Matlacha!
Great spot for breakfast and lunch. The coconut shrimp wrap is killer. For breakfast, try the eggs benedict on crab cakes. They sell their coffee beans, which we buy on a regular basis. Very friendly staff managed by hands owners.
Awesome. Homemade sangria was great. Ordered the coconut shrimp wrap and it was delicious. Fries were cooked to perfection.

Island Seafood Market

Reviews:
Andy's Seafood provides fresh-caught seafood in Matlacha, Florida. Andy's specializes in high-quality, fresh-caught, local fish. One evening we had stone crab claws and shrimp, another night hogfish. The crab was, without any exaggeration, the best crab I have ever had. The hogfish was fresh, supple, and had exceedingly true flavor. Additionally, Andy's staff are very knowledgeable (knowing good recipes for all the seafood they sell), helpful, and friendly. They do a pretty good job of cleaning and de-boning fish. Andy's is pretty easy to find on the main drag in Matlacha. They're right near the drawbridge. If you're a local or a tourist with kitchen access, I strongly recommend getting your seafood from Andy's. This place is great.
Exceptional seafood earns Andy's four big stars!! We ate lunch here today n had a mellow time at the tables inside-- three available. Who knew the pino Grigio wine in the cooler was so yummy??! Excellent seafood prep by the chef who wears wellies and a generous smile. Earnest waterside seafood stop. Rein in your desire for glamour w ordering done at counter n food delivered hot n fresh to table. Browse the spices n enjoy reading local papers while the food is being prepared. Generally a large salad w huge portion of blackened fish n a roll will run 15$ and similar for grouper sandwich cole slaw n chips. Buy some fresh fish to go could find golden tile, triple tail, stone crab oysters scallops squid smoked fish dip n hey for a buck a pound... Frozen fish heads the size of Rhode Island can be popped in water n awesome broth made to poach your bounty or base for yur homemade chowders. I picked one up n can't wait to get my chowder fixings in the broth. It's a casual place but no Tvs and good to eat meals lend this place a honored spot for healthy eating when I don't want more than great food.
Best grouper sandwich I have had in my seven years living in SW Florida. My wife said the same about her crab cakes. Get a pound of shrimp for an appetizer. To eat well expect to pay about $25 per person. Well worth it.

Great Licks Ice Cream Shop

4643 Pine Island Rd NW
Matlacha, 33993
Reviews:
Great Licks sells Queenie's ice cream (one of a handful of area places that do sell it). The staff is friendly, and samples are encouraged. I always, always, ALWAYS get the Dutch Chocolate. To. Die. For. I get a "small," which is very large-after our first visit, when I ordered a medium and found it was tooooo much! I always get it in a cup with a cone on the side. :-) The husband tries out other flavors, but favors the cookies and cream. There is an inside seating area attached to Island Visions (neat place!) and some outside tables with umbrellas...and an old school coin operated ride! We visit the area several times a year and always make the trip out there several times. We even have a frequent buyer card! :-)
I'm a fairly new local resident and I've been looking for fun and tasty places to eat since moving here. Unfortunately, I've found that there are not a lot of great restaurants in the Cape Coral, Matlacha/Pine Island area. I really wanted to like Great Licks Ice Cream Shop. I like the location in Matlacha and the fact that it's attached to the gallery next door, with a pleasant little sitting area in between. However, we have had ice cream there several times (taken our out-of-town guests when they've come for a visit) and everyone's consensus is that the ice cream is weak tasting. I tried the black raspberry chocolate chunk and the raspberry was nearly undetectable. The chocolate pieces were the only really tasty part of the ice cream. All together we've probably tried at least 10 flavors, and we all agree that there's just not enough flavor intensity. I'm disappointed as I love ice cream, and as I said enjoy the location, but it's not worth the cost of this ice cream for the little flavor payoff. Too bad.
Very good ice cream, good service. Mint chocolate chip is excellent. The kid cones are super small but my 3 year-old daughter wanted hers in a cup, still very small (like a small Dixie cup) with a small pink taster spoon that she loved. Just the refreshing treat I wanted after a long day at the beach.

Excellent coffee, yummy food and nice people.
I cannot give this place enough stars! They are SO sweet every time I go in. I love the ambiance and I love their fabulous smiles. Their coffee and chowder (well, actually everything I have gotten thus far) is delicious! YUM! LOVE LOVE LOVE em!
Hubby and I stopped in here for breakfast yesterday (Sunday) on our way out of town, back to Delray Beach. Perfect Cup was recommended to us by our kayak guide. It's a little kitschy place with a good breakfast menu and reasonable prices. My husband ordered one of the specials -- Crabby Benny. He LOVED it! I had a bite of the it and literally spit it into my napkin. I thought it was the worst-tasting crab ever. It tasted like rotting fish. Maybe it was just the bite I had, but he loved it and swore it tasted great. I had a croissant breakfast sandwich that was fine. It's really hard to screw that up. What I particularly like about Perfect Cup was the service (mostly). They work as a team here, so a number of different folks served our table, and they were all very warm and friendly. The biggest disappointment was that their espresso machine was broken. They only had black coffee. I was sooo looking forward to a double espresso with my meal, and then a latte for the road. It just didn't happen. Perfect Cup is a "seat yourself" type of restaurant. When we arrived at 9:30, it was virtually empty -- only 6 other customers. At the point we were done with our main meals at 10:05am, we waited patiently for my husband's vanilla malt which took an inordinate amount of time. While waiting, several customers waiting to find a seat, along with staffers, kept looking at our table wondering when we'd get up so they could use our table. There were large groups who needed to push tables together. We'd literally been there 35 minutes and were just waiting for my husband's last food item! Two employees came to our table to ask us to go pay at the register. Really? We politely told them we would pay after he received his malt and after we received a bill. This is the reason for the 3 stars. While service was really friendly for the most part, we felt pushed out in an unreasonable amount of time. That, together with no ability to make any type of coffee drink brings my rating down to a 3. I will try them again next time we're in town and hope for a better experience.

Of course, we continue to return every time we are in the area- at least twice a year. Sadly only one hush puppy these days w my clam platter- but still divine. We bought fresh huge, brown gulf shrimp on 2 separate occasions to take back to grill. Hands down THE best shrimp we have EVER eaten. Bought some black Grouper as well- husband deemed it delicious. Going back for Labor Day- we will be eating here & buying shrimp to take back home.
We didn't come for the market, although it sounded like a great idea -- we came for dinner. This would have been three stars: A-OK, but other issues dragged it down. The food was OK, if you don't mind people smoking at the tables near you... it's covered outdoor dining, so smoking happens. When the reviewer said, "depending on the time of day," that was more significant than I'd thought. We love places that are open on the water, usually. We got there after 6 pm, hoping to enjoy dinner and sunset and hear live music -- and discovered that unlike every other place in that area, the Olde Fish House had a band that stopped playing in mid-afternoon that day. Couldn't check this on the Events Calendar on their website because they stopped updating that calendar last October (that's why two stars instead of three). So yes, the food was OK, good fresh fish. Ambience: picnic tables with benches on a shaded deck. View of the canals around the marina, but not of sunset (sun sets behind the coffee house just across the bridge). Local fishermen like it and eat here, but then again a lot of them smoke, so be aware. Misters operate at the edges of the roof during the day - mixed blessing but fun for the kids. Our server was the only one working the place.
Well this is my first review of the year. I must say its good. This is a market & eatery. You cannot get it any fresher. It comes from the ocean to your table. I had fried mahi mahi. Cooked to a golden brown. With tasty cole slaw, hush puppies and delightful garlic french fries. My server,Brandon, was outstanding. Very knowledgeable and attentive. Not a fancy place you are on the water and out doors. Plates are paper or such. A bit pricey, but all seafood is expensive in Florida. I believe they charge more so the Government can get more tax money. ( There is no income tax in Florida) Everyone I talk with were great. My only issue was leaving the parking lot. A bit of a struggle with only a 2 lane road. Despite this I highly recommend you give them a try.

Good food, decent prices. Burgers are always a good choice. Wish you could get half portions of dinner items. Love that you can park your boat and get a table! Our waitress wasn't very friendly the last time we went, but that isn't usually the case.
My fresh tuna sandwich was amazing. The homemade wasabi mayo is a must. The service was great too!
The Chowder is very good & the Crab Cake sandwich was outstanding. Pair this with happy hour drinks & it's a great lunch at a good price.

Unpretentious and xtra kitschy prepare yourself to be charmed. The number one thing this eatery offers is friendly wait staff who act like there really is a link between great service n return customers. We compare this experience to Reds near pine center. Snow crab clusters at reds were 19.99 but no sides and one # size at that price. At sandy hook house same offering is $17.99 with two sides plus loaf of warm bread. Drinks from the full bar at both spots have a clear winner in the fish house. Bartender can mix a good drink- reds not so much... They have been overwhelmed at times. Neither place has an inspired wine list we r talking Kendall Jackson Chardonnay .... We love both places for different reasons. Can't beat the window seats at fish house . Snow crab clusters tasted better at reds as they were served hot n moist.sandy hook house served a lukewarm product but larger serving for the money. Sandy hook house used frozen veggies n reds use fresh. Sandy serves hot bread ! Three stars for frozen veggies n so so prime rib.... We will continue to visit this utterly charming food hall w it's view on the water n enthusiastic wait staff n fabulous bar mixologist n hope the chef stops w this frozen vegetable nonsense.
Just had lunch here and it was fantastic. The drinks, and atmosphere didn't disappoint. I ordered a Goombay Smash and wanted it non-frozen. No problem. The staff was great and Megan was awesome. The wife highly recommends the spinach chicken. I had the grilled ribeye. But what really made this meal for me was their conch chowder. Bahamian style conch chowder that I can get locally. I will be back often! :)
Do not skip the tuna nachos!

Second visit here the food was better. The fried oysters basket was excellent!! Live music and cold beer during our lunch with a beautiful waterfront view inside the place with good A/C blasting is a reason for a great review of this place.
Had ourselves some fried smelts and corona, sitting by the water, listening to the steel drums!. I love the vibe of Matlacha!
We were specifically looking for a spot on the water where we could eat fish tacos. This place was recommended by our kayak guide, so we ventured in. From the outside, it looks uninviting and worse than a dive! Don't let that scare you. The solid blue double doors on the outside are the front doors even though they look like back doors. You could also enter by walking around the right side directly to the dockside seating area. Regardless, just walk in! Seat yourself and one of the friendly wait staff will be there shortly to serve you. Beer is priced reasonably, and so is the food. We both ordered tacos -- fish tacos and shrimp tacos, as well as a side of Beach Bread. Oooooh, YUM! Get the Beach Bread! You MUST order the Beach Bread! It's bread with garlic, blue cheese, and mozzarella all melted and topped with bits of tomatoes. Soooo good! The tacos were also yummy, but I do wish they were made with cabbage, not lettuce. The best part about this place is the view. It's located right on the water and there are a ton of seating options either inside or outside that provide a water view. It's a casual spot for good eats, and will likely be our #1 spot to return when we come back to Matlacha!
