Unpretentious and xtra kitschy prepare yourself to be charmed. The number one thing this eatery offers is friendly wait staff who act like there really is a link between great service n return customers. We compare this experience to Reds near pine center. Snow crab clusters at reds were 19.99 but no sides and one # size at that price. At sandy hook house same offering is $17.99 with two sides plus loaf of warm bread. Drinks from the full bar at both spots have a clear winner in the fish house. Bartender can mix a good drink- reds not so much... They have been overwhelmed at times. Neither place has an inspired wine list we r talking Kendall Jackson Chardonnay .... We love both places for different reasons. Can't beat the window seats at fish house . It rests w the kitchen and cooking Unpretentious and xtra kitschy prepare yourself to be charmed. It rests w the kitchen and cooking expertise as reds edge out sandy hook house on that ! I had prime rib at sandy vhouse ( I know....it's a FISH house)! It was so so. Snow crab clusters tasted better at reds as they were served hot n moist.sandy hook house served a lukewarm product but larger serving for the money. Sandy hook house used frozen veggies n reds use fresh. Sandy serves hot bread ! Three stars for frozen veggies n so so prime rib.... We will continue to visit this utterly charming food hall w it's view on the water n enthusiastic wait staff n fabulous bar mixologist n hope the chef stops w this frozen vegetable nonsense.

Just had lunch here and it was fantastic. The drinks, and atmosphere didn't disappoint. I ordered a Goombay Smash and wanted it non-frozen. No problem. The staff was great and Megan was awesome. The wife highly recommends the spinach chicken. I had the grilled ribeye. But what really made this meal for me was their conch chowder. Bahamian style conch chowder that I can get locally. I will be back often! :)

Good place to take visitors. I rate it as high as I do if you get a window table during daylight hours and do some bird watching. Food is OK. I don't find prices really out of line. MrsO had snow crab legs last time and they were excellent. Service has never been an issue.

So so. Fake iced tea. Pretty decent home made salad dressings. Prime rib was dry and chewy. Nice people, good service, cool view.

We ate here on a whim because we wanted seafood and a water view. I don't think there is anywhere else close to get both. we sat at the bar while we waited for a table. Sandy was our bartender but she claimed to not be the owner. She was amazing though. Very friendly and great service. The drinks were amazing. We had Sangria, Flippin awesome, and a couple others. fantastic drinks. Our waitress was going to school to be a nurse, I don't remember her name. but she was also amazing. Very good service. Great opinions and advice of the menu. lots of fresh local seafood. I had the fried oysters and shrimp. the menu says either or, but they gladly split the two. it was very good. Desserts were very good and I would go back to this part of Florida just for this reastraunt. If you are close make sure you go there!

What a fun atmosphere! Family owned and the decor is gaudy but fun. Service was excellent and the menu was varied, including snow crab legs and prime rib. We had the snow crab legs and they were meaty and sweet- fabulous! Prices were very reasonable. Highly recommend.

I felt like we were rushed the whole time and it's not even tourist season. We ordered cracked conch which came to the table almost immediately but I must say , it was excellent. The dipping sauce was a bit spicy, but the conch was well prepared. Our salads arrived posthaste and had seen better days. The lettuce and other leaves were wilted and the cucumber was emaciated. The hot loaf of bread was quite nice although the knife provided to cut it was not appropriate. Then we received our entrees. I had ordered the white fish (?) With Ritz cracker on top. I've ordered this before at Sandy hook and it was great. My husband ordered crab legs. He did not receive drawn butter immediately but that was quickly remedied, so if this is accidentally overlooked, please be sure to ask. I think our poor server was handling the entire dining room that night and for that he should receive the Nobel Peace Prize. He did a fabulous job. I blame the kitchen, not the server. My fish was rather mushy. My husband loved his crab legs. So, server gets five stars and kitchen gets three stars. This place has a lovely ambiance and if the kitchen could just match the energy of the service staff, they would have a winner.

My grandparents went here and it was awful. It was not the service that was the problem, it was the food. They ordered a stuffed portabella mushroom and it was probably 3 inches in diameter and soggy. The mushroom costs 7 dollars and that was not worth 7 dollars. The salads were dry and skimpy, it looked like they were made the day before. There was no Grouper and it was 4 in the afternoon. I find it hard to believe that they were out of fish that early. So the Mahi-Mahi was ordered. It was only 4 ounces which was not worth the cost. The ribeye was fatty and gross. The service was fine, it was the food that was gross.

I've eaten in this restaurant regularly since moving to Pine Island in 2003 from Seattle (via New Smyrna Beach, FL), Never had a bad meal or experience, but that recently changed. On my most recent visit, my dining companion's Tuna Wakimi was a very poor example of what the kitchen typically sends out. The tuna was (cooked - didn't appear to be seared, a little less than the prescribed "rare") and very sinewy, not really edible - full of connective tissue. It was certainly not "sushi or sashimi" grade and should not have been served in a presentation like the Tuna Wakimi. Maybe searing it to "well-done" would have dissolved the connective tissue - but then that's not the point with such a presentation. She did not mention it to me until after the meal, or it would have been sent back. My other two guests were pleased with their meals (Spinach Chicken & Fried Shrimp). It was their first visit to Sandy Hook. They are Midwest SJC snowbirds, and they may return. My meal, the Hook was good, but the Mixed Vegetable side was really weak; rubbery, and bland - I'm quite certain they were frozen and microwaved! What is this world coming to, when a waterfront restaurant on Pine Island is using (Vietnamese) "farm-raised" (Mekong River) basa (swai or "sewer trout") for fish tacos? I understand cost containment, but it's Matlacha and you could throw a frozen Mullet in any direction and hit a fishmonger! Service was adequate, and the view is pleasant.

I have been going to this restaurant for several years and always had the baby back ribs. They were always delicious. This last time, the ribs was a huge disappointment. Not just to me but to my 2 other fellow diners. They tasted BOILED and then grilled. Practically, no meat flavor, a bit tough with a hint of fake smoke. What happened ? A new cook? Honestly I don't know if I dare to go back for ribs. The quality was disappointing. The service, excellent as always. I don't want to give a negative review but I have not many positive things to say about the food. And that is the main reason why we go there isn't it.

Over priced, small portions Scallops, fish and shrimp trio lacked flavor.mFelt like we were in a sardine can . 5 years since our last visit, now we remember why. Locals who won' t go back.

Save yourself the trip and skip this restaurant. Service was terrible when we dined here. Our waiter was carrying her infant around with her while taking orders and serving. The food was not all that great, and for the lack of service, we were disappointed.

Based on the food alone, I would have probably given this restaurant 3.5 stars but the service all around just left a bad taste. The location is prime, the decor is cute, the food is decent and so this place will always be busy (and the employees/owners know that). Want a quick way to piss off a guest? Let them see you be short with their grandparent. There were two bartenders the night we went, a younger and an older blonde. To her credit, the older one was very pleasant with us. The younger one, wow, what a brat. My grandfather asked her a couple harmless questions and talk about SHORT in her response. I did all I could from snapping at her something really nasty but didn't want to make a scene. What happened to treating a customer with respect seeing you ARE in the hospitality business? The waiter was better, but forgot our bread, forgot my grandfather's wine, didn't really seem friendly at all. Anyone who reads my reviews will know I am big on service. The food could be phenomenal somewhere, but if the service is bad: forget it. We all have choices about where we can spend. Don't give your money to people who don't appreciate it.

Great family place with good food. Went here New Year's Day 2014 just before watching Michigan State beat Stanford:) The guys all ordered the prime rib dinner - very good. The ladies ordered mostly seafood plates. I sampled the calamari and scallops from my wife's plate and they were prepared well. The kids got to run around and enjoy the dining room after finishing their kids meals of chicken tenders, fries and milk. Bottom line, this was a good amount of well prepared food for not a lot of money. It is kid friendly, the service is good, and the water views are great from any seat in the house. We will be back.

I was extremely disappointed with the food, the service and the integrity of the employees. Our server never asked if we wanted appetizers, we had to tell him we wanted an appetizer when we ordered our meal. Our waiter reached across the table, practically knocking the fork out of the mouth of another guest at our table. Worst of all, we watched our waiter serve an adjacent table. As the serving tray was set down, the food on at least one plate slid off onto the tray. The waiter picked the food up with his bare hand, put it back on the plate and served it to the unsuspecting diner. No offense but I doubt those serving tray are all that clean. With so many other places to eat, I won't be going back.

Showed up on a Saturday night to a pretty full house, this wacky nautically themed joint was fun and friendly right off. The kids got the usual colors and puzzle pages... And Meagan our server was prompt and welcoming. The view of the bay was fantastic and the sunset completed the " your about to eat some seafood" theme. For appetizers, we tried the conch fritters and fried pickles....showed up pretty quickly considering how busy they were. Both dishes were good... Cooked well and god seasoning, that being said, I haved better, but worth the price. The conch fritters were a real surprise, I'm pretty sure they are made in-house. Entrees were generous and very tasty. The island 3-way which includes shrimp, oysters and scallops was fantastic! Crab cakes were good, and we tried them emperors style which had a keylime aoli that helped the dish. Desserts finished of a great meal... Try the home made keylime pie or the bananas foster cheese cake. 8 people, 2 apps, 8 full meals, 2 pictures of beer and 3 desserts totaled $170... Very reasonable for this kind of food/service and atmosphere Andrew Hahn CL300 CPT were

Visited with wife and kid. Veggies were of frozen nature, waitress said to ask for extra butter and garlic to make then taste okay. Shrimp over done, scalloped potatoes were terrible looking and not fresh. Bottom line is great view, terrible food and no fresh food to speak of. Pricing was as high as Bonefish but no freshness.

The location is easy to find. The view is beautiful. The service was so very warm and friendly. The prices can't be complained about. The decour is homey...perhaps a bit too much so. The food was outstanding. The fish very fresh...and all 6 dishes were cooked perfectly. To sum it all up...go! Enjoy! We'll see you there. The only thing I would change about this place would be refurbish the building to make it a bit more "fine dining" vs "touristy".

This is the second time we have eaten here and again we had a great time. The view this restaurant has of the bay is spectacular. It doesn't matter where you sit you will have a nice view. The restaurant's Christmas decorations along with it's regular theme make it interesting to look at. Now to the important part the food. I ordered this last trip the shrimp scampi and it was spectacular. The shrimp and the fettucini were cooked perfectly. My wife ordered their baked fish that had a ritz cracker crust (sorry don't recall the name of it) she loved the fish. The kids ate fettucini Alfredo and a cheese burger. They said they were delicious.

Our dinner here was the best meal we have had in two weeks on vacation. We enjoyed the beautiful view all evening. The firecracker shrimp were so delicious. The fresh mango margaritas were wonderful. The mangos were picked by our fantastic waiter, Juan. The broiled fish and shrimp were so delicious. We are definitely coming back here. Or service was second to none. The owner, Nicole, took time out of her busy evening to give us tourist tips. On the way out the door the kids couldn't wait to feed the fish and birds. Way to go Nicole and crew!!!

Fab....ulous! We came here for dinner on Christmas Eve and will definitely be back! Great spot right on the water with friendly staff, pretty quick service and great food. The calm chowder was so-so (way too salty and not very thick) but my dinner (and everyone else's from what I heard) was excellent. I had the Hook and everything was very well prepared and in large but not ridiculous proportions. It seems that you can make reservations for a group of 5 or more, but don't quote me on that. Overall great spot....not sure why it took us so long to find it! :)
