My experience here is always fantastic. From the food to the ambiance to the service....and our server was Palma....who made us feel welcome :) Things to rave over: Zuppa de Pesce, Flounder with a lemon type infused sauce, just about any Chicken or Veal dish, strangely enough for not being a steak house the New York strip is always cooked to perfection. But my favorite thing is to have the Chef just make us something great. The prices are amazing for the amount of food they serve. I just hope they don't go bankrupt with all the food they GIVE away. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining but just looking out. I don't want to see a good place get a bad rep. Again, just about everything is very good here and the food is solid and consistent every time; without trying so hard to be hip, pretentious or something there not. They have been there for what I was told was about 35 years. That must tell you something. Now, the reasons why i gave it 4 out of 5 & not 5 out of 5 is: The cheesecake is to die for but unfortunately it's not always available... Although the food is phenomenal, it would be nice to see some new things on the menu. Over all, keep it up guys, it's always good and give my compliments to the Chef for our latest outstanding meal that was cooked for my wife and I! -Kamin B.

What a nice and cozy Italian restaurant with great value for the food! I've been driving by this place for years and finally decided to try it. I'm picky about Italian places...and this place was one I'll be back to. They have a wine list and really nice customer service. I was so excited to receive a very large loaf of warm bread while we waited. Bread is the key to my heart. I had the linguine with meatballs which came with a side salad. I enjoyed that the salad was more than just romaine, tomatoes and dressing. It had black and green whole olives, peas, eggs...very nice. It definitely seemed freshly-made and not premade. Now, I am one of those pasta fiends that enjoys my pasta swimming in tomato sauce...and this pasta was no exception. It was completely covered in a sweet tomato sauce and the meatballs were excellent! Tomato sauces are over-salted in so many restaurants...so I enjoyed this sauce being more traditional. We will be back soon! I'd like to save room for dessert next time. :-)

The food is delicious, However the wait staff rude and disorganized. Brought salad, forgot salad plates, never offered to refill drinks .The older lady who waited on us was not cheerful and friendly as most waitresses are, especially since I told her we are good tippers. She made a short rude comment when I tried to introduce my family (to be friendly and for clarity of the billing), she gave a very annoyed look when we mentioned we have a coupon (which they email to me almost every other week), they advertise gluten free pasta on the menu, and when it was ordered she said "we don't have it"...no explanation of why, etc....its on the menu. We wont be back. There are other Italian places that cook great but are cheerful and friendly, not rude. We felt very unwelcome.

My cousin took us here this week and boy am I glad she did. Everything was delish. I had the chicken francaise which had just the right blend of sauce: not too sweet, not too tart. I finished up my mom's veal parm the next day. Also very very good. And then I finished up my kid's spaghetti with marinara. I wish I could put my finger on what made the sauce unique. Reminds me a little of "Mystic Pizza" - what is in that sauce. I was a little disappointed when they said they don't do caesar salad, but I certainly didn't miss it when the house salad came out. This is not to be missed. Really outstanding. I had no room for the banana cream pie (which my cousin said was some of the best she ever had, and it had a homemade crust to boot) or the cheese cake (which mom loved). Now for the back story. This is the second generation restaurant. The first gen restaurant was in my mom/cousin's hometown of Tamaqua, PA. My cuz had heard that the current restaurant has a Tamaqua table - and sure enough, they do. It is a family owned place where we were welcomed like family. We spent the meal trading memories about Tamaqua, how it's changed, who knew so and so and on and on. So that made it even more special. I made sure I got a loaf of bread to go, freshly made. My husband devoured it when we got home - so i'm sure we'll be back for more!

Just left the restaurant after four of us had great dinners.all salads, soup and entrees were memorable as was the banana cream and peanut butter pies. After coming to the restaurant on and off for thirty years or more it's embarrassing you forget how good it is and how great it is to patronize a locally owned business that truly appreciates your patronage! No bells and whistles- just consistently fine cuisine.

My wife and I have been coming to Palma's for almost 20 years and this restaurant is the best all around bang for the buck in Central Florida. We have never had a bad meal here and the food is always cooked to perfection, period!! Best Lasagna anywhere! Soups are wonderful, especially the mushroom. They make 26 different types of soup and it is always a surprise. There homemade bread and pies are wonderful. The staff of sisters are all family and they are the best...I even share a birthday with the owner! If you want great food, at a fair price, Palma Maria's is your restaurant!

Their fresh baked bread is something to rave about. Nice firm crust and a warm soft center! YUM!! The house salad is typical stuff and upscaled a bit with green and black olives, H.B. egg, and nice light house dressing. Served in the family style bowl with plates. Sausage, Peppers, Onions and Mushrooms $16.95 was good eats but the price would keep me from ordering again. The sausage was seasoned good. I don't recall any mushrooms so no vote on that number. Wish I had tried the Eggplant Palma also $16.95 but when the two regulars (dining partners) are leading with a certain dish, it's almost foolish not to follow along- though they did recommend the EP- they: " had just eaten it so many times." RATS! Banana Cream Pie$5.95 - Easily shared, this was a good sweet finish. Crust on the bottom was still flakey and easily cleaned up! This place was FULL-ON BUSY at 7:00 and the staff did a great job. Accurate and timely on the service with all the required refills and attention etc.

I really wanted to love Palma Maria. Non-chain, family run restaurant with longevity. And I kinda do love it. But.... We party of 5 went there last Friday at 6:30. They were out of soup. They were out of shrimp. My entree was not hot. The salad was not cold. It took forever to get plates removed after eating. The calamari included several burnt pieces. The light over our table was not working, for which the host deeply apologized. I think they were just having a bad night. Everyone has them sometimes. And I liked the marinara sauce on my mannicoti . I liked the family-style salad, with oil and vinegar. Bread was good. My wife really enjoyed her eggplant parma, and everyone else enjoyed their entrees. I do love that it is relatively quiet even though there was plenty o' chatter around. And the wine list has nothing over $25, which I think sends a nice message. Food prices are good overall. Service was always very friendly and welcoming, though spotty at times. Overall, the good stuff outweighs the bad, and I'm sure we will return and I'm confident it will be at least a 4-star experience.

Palma Maria has been a fixture for decades in this little plaza in casselberry. It has been ages since we've visited due to moving to the other side of town but our stop the other night reminded us why this used to be regular stop for dinner. Their freshly baked bread is soooo good. Crusty on the outside and (literally) melt in your mouth on the inside. All of the their entrees continue to be tasty as well. It's not super size portions like you'll get at some Italian stops but we've never come away hungry. They offer an early bird special that includes salad or soup and your beverage that will save you about three dollars..as long as you order before 6:30. You must try the fried mozzarella too. Yummy and unique. On the most recent visit we did try their coconut cream pie...tasty with a super flaky crust! It's a very quiet, not quite intimate setting but flavorful, family owned and the chef and wait staff have been fixtures. Regular clientele are welcomed by name and Palma Maria is good bang for your buck. Try it.

Good food with a great friend! I should give this place an extra star for the company. Locally owned mom and pop places are my favorite but this place just didn't give me the warm cozzy feeling I was looking for. Aginst my grandmothers code of cooking conduct I like to add a little sugar to my red sauce cause I think it brings out the flavor of the tomatoes in the sauce. Well this trip the sauce had way to much sugar added to the sauce and bad sauce ruins the meal as my Grandma says. I don't recommend the veal parm the veal was not a good cut of meat. Lets end on a good note, the scalops were amazing and my friend got the chicken which he claims "was like butter."

I do love Palma Maria. It's been a while since I've been, but now I have a reason to return... make sure the food is STILL awesome. I have no doubt it will be though. Food aside, what really tugs at my restaurant heart strings is that they decorate for Halloween. The owners are crazy like me about Oct 31, and jazz the place up with mini cauldrons for light source and a witch our two flying around in the dark. LOVE IT!

Great meal last night. Wife had fantastic flounder Sicilian and my dish was Chicken Caccitore excellently prepared. Have to ask to see the brand new wine list. Even has 2 of the top 100 wines for less than $30. WOW! Never been fan of Reisling wines but........if you like a great value and white wine just ask Pete to taste the Kung Foo. This is the one Kathy Lee was drinking on her morning show this week. It is a total pleasant surprise. Even has a hint of sparkling in it and has low sugar content so no sweet tasting German Reisling which I had enough of while going to Germany all the time during last 30 years. They still amaze me at the values they offer. You have to put this palma Maria restaurant on your bucket list!

Have been dining at Palma Maria;s for over 20 years. Love the food, love the family and love sitting down to a fresh loaf of bread, yummy. The pastas are great, the salad is wonderful and the desserts are delicious. Great place, but that should not be a surprise when they have been in business for so long, they wouldn't still be there if they were not consistent with great food.

Palma Maria is a great little gem! It's a family run restaurant, and it's wonderful to see the same friendly staff year after year. The food is solid (I reccomend the eggplant Palma), and the loaf of bread they serve you is GINORMOUS and delicious! The ambiance is old school cool as well.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
