Great food at a fair price; what's there not to love about this place? I've been dying to look for authentic Chinese food in the area ever since I moved here from California and I'm glad that I found this place via Yelp! Well of course it's not the best Chinese food that I've ever had BUT at least I'm grateful that a place like this exists in Milwaukee.

I just called the restaurant and I live in Wauwatosa...their service area. Guess what? I got a very rude response saying they don't deliver at my address. Don't advertise what you refuse to deliver. .no pun intended. !

Worst Chinese ever. I ordered Orange Chicken and Singapore Noodles. It arrived in 17 minutes, so I don't think it was prepared when I ordered. The Singapore Noodles just weren't good. The Orange Chicken had a bad after taste. I ate one small serving of each and even though I was still hungry I couldn't stand the taste and threw out the rest. On s positive note the delivery person was friendly.

Don't order food from here. There are other options in the same neighborhood. The only decent aspect was the delivery was fast. The food was not hot. Not even warm. This made no sense because it was delivered literally less than 15 minutes from when I hung up the phone. I assume the items are not made-to-order like other places. Order from China East! You have to pick it up, but we have never been disappointed.

It's ok. If youre craving American Chinese food, you will not be disappointed. Not the best hot and sour soup tho.

Exactly what we expected and we will continue to use them as our go-to Chinese food restaurant for convenient, quick take out or delivery. The menu has a lot to offer. Healthy food option: the diet menu offers steamed veggies and protein with sauce options on the side. Perfect for a plain jane or anyone with food allergies or restrictions.

The food was great, and I've never had a delivery man so friendly!

Good carry-out and nearby. We usually order general tao's chicken for the kids. It's tasty without being too spicy. The rest of the dishes are always fresh with large prices of meat and vegetables. The rice is sometimes dry, but adding the well flavored sauces fixes that.

When I'm looking for quick, cheap and half ways decent Chinese food this is my place. You're getting what you pay for here and it's pretty good for what's available in the area.

They are not lacking in the confidence department. I haven't tried any other chinese places in the Milwaukee area, but if this is the "No. 1", then the rest must be pretty awful. Their "best wings in the world" were among the worst asian-style wings I've had. They were a little soggy and didn't have a whole lot of flavor to them (which is how I would describe most of their food). The place is close to us, so we've tried it a few times but I've never gotten through an entire meal because it just doesn't taste that great. Their mongolian chicken (or whatever) dish is the only one I've actually finished up as leftovers, so maybe give that one a shot.

Wanted to try here whoever they have answering the phone just ruined my appetite. I'll pass.

I initially stopped in because I saw they were called "No. 1 Chinese", which is incredibly unimaginative but is the name of a veg-friendly restaurant in Bay View, which offers mock meats. Apparently, the two restaurants aren't affiliated but this place does offer soy chicken in the "VEGETARIA MEATS" section. :) I was annoyed that they wouldn't let me sub soy chicken for one of the 30 $4.50-5 meat lunch specials because they expected me to pay nearly twice that just because they don't offer a veg option. They told me to get the mixed veggie lunch special but that sounded boring. I only had $7, which I told them, and asked if I could get a half order of the veg chicken, which was $9. They weren't interested but finally said they'd make me a small order for $7. They didn't seem happy about it and were sort of rude, but whatever. They also don't have brown rice, which just plain stinks. I got the vegetarian General Tso's chicken, which came w/ a few pieces of broccoli. The soy chicken was a little overcooked and chewy but it wasn't bad. Being spoiled by good NYC vegan food, this place rates pretty low, but given the very limited vegan and fake meat options on Milwaukee's north side, I really appreciate this place having faux chicken and would go back to support them.

I swung in No. 1 on the recommendation of a co-worker and been there a few times since. Solid Chinese food including their shrimp with snowpeas and beef curry, but as others have said they don't have brown rice... They're very friendly and helpful with the menu. FYI: It's purely a take-out restaurant.

This is a classic example of a hole in the wall restaurant. I ordered take-out and while I waited, watched customer after customer come in. The screen door banged behind each one, and I felt like I was on a porch in the south during the summer. The food came out quickly and was almost too hot to eat. The cream cheese in the crab rangoons oozed out and I could feel the cholesterol sticking to my unsuspecting arteries. The sesame chicken had a flavorful sauce covering it and the fried rice was delicious. This restaurant made a bold move calling itself No. 1, but I'm sure some customers will support their claim.

The staff was nice. The atmosphere leaves much to be desired but it really does not matter when you are there for a carry out. Food was out in under 15 minutes and was steaming hot. I ordered the Sesame Chicken and it was great. Broccoli was fresh and steamed to perfection, the chicken was fat-free and was not over battered, and the sauce was very tasty. No 1 is now my No 1

I'd put this a step above your standard Chinese restaurant, but they don't have brown rice : | The place is pretty small, so it's more of a take-out place than a place to eat at.

Fast delivery. Hard to understand when you call, make sure you clarify. The people on the phone always want to get off the phone as son as possible when you place your order. I always get a call from the delivery guy when he arrives. Nothing completes the Chinese food delivery experience more than "hello your Chinese food is here" on your cell phone. OK standard american chinese for okay price. Take out orders that pay with credit card be wary- they write your credit card number and expiration on your receipt.

I live not too far from this place so it has become a semi-regular stop. I appreciate that the menu does not employ MSG like so many second rate Chinese places. The menu is a pretty straightforward, General Tso's-type selection. But they do mix it up a bit with some seafood specials that you won't find at most Chinese joints. For instance, their coconut shrimp is truly transcendent. I take one star from my review for the fact that it is always good, but only on a few occasions has it truly been excellent. Overall a good, convenient place to stop for West Siders or Wauwatosans looking for good Chinese eats.

These guys don't use MSG and have a very wide selection of options for delivery or take-out. Their menus include a coupon for either $2 off or 5 chicken wings free with any order over $20--though you won't get there fast on a lunch combo special for under $5. Their Wonton Soup is one of my favorites, and their Chow Mein Fun (oddly translated as skinly noodles) is fantastic. For a quick and easy lunch or dinner solution when you're feeling lazy some day, these guys will feed you well with good-quality "fast food."

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
