Despite being so close to home, it's taken us a while to get to Ginza, mostly because of the mixed reviews. The overall rating is 3.5 stars and I think that's pretty accurate. Interior: rich red walls and artwork with gray booths along the wall. I think they are going for a "clubby" feel (more on that) but to me, it seemed a but cold and spare. Menu: all the standards are well represented. The specialty roll menu is smaller than most places offer and I think that's a positive. Sometimes I get lost in all the choices, so I appreciate that Ginza has pared it down. Prices and portions are fair - neither are overwhelming. Apps: tried the gyoza (good but nothing special) and the yakitori (loved - tasty and juicy). Rolls: ranged from "amazing" to "good" to "meh". My favorite was the Joy roll which had salmon, crab, shrimp and a bunch of other stuff in it. The Milwaukee roll was good, but nothing special and my Philly roll was 85% cucumber, so not good. The Mister had a Jason roll which was spicy and tempura battered and a spicy Tuna roll that was absolutely stuffed with fish. He was really happy with what he had. Service: there are a lot of reviews here remarking on slow service, however our service was great and our food arrived quickly. To be fair, they were not especially busy. Music: so, so, so, so bad. If your dream is to listen to Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" whilst eating a California Roll, you can realize it here. You know you want it (hey, hey, hey). All things considered, I definitely liked Ginza (douchey music aside) and we'll certainly be back.

Average. Middle of the road. I've dined here three times now and have never been blown away. The first time I had only rolls, the Jason and the Wauwatosa. Both were great the first time, but I've been chasing that high ever since. On my next visit, I had the Godzilla and some other forgettable roll. I was bummed out by them and vowed not waste any more of my valuable sushi-date-night time here but was drawn back in by a Groupon. Damn you Groupon. On my third visit, I went with the Sushi dinner. It was very unremarkable. One each of striped bass, fatty tuna, salmon, white tuna, eel, and salmon roe. Believe it or not, the eel was the best thing. The rest just had no discernible taste. Mind you, nothing was "bad" or "fishy smelling", but nothing tasted off-the-boat fresh either. I think what really stood out was the serving temperature. There was no distinction between the rice and the fish. Both seemed to be at room temperature. Blah. The sushi rice tasted about as authentic as Uncle Ben's. Aside from that, no complaints with the service; always friendly and prompt enough. The decor of the restaurant is pretty minimalistic, but loud. I wish this place was better. It's Tosa's only Sushi restaurant. I strongly feel we deserve better!

Love, love, love Ginza! The spicy tuna & salmon are my favorites. The prices are great & don't forget to use your 10% off from the menu....they won't remind you

1st timer here and wasn't sure about trying out the place because it was empty, maybe that's how it is Sunday afternoons here? But wow friendly service and great food! Would def reccomend! We had the California rolls and the Chicken teriyaki plate both came with a cup of soup and salad. Our price without drinks around 30 bucks

My husband and I have eaten at Ginza many times, and this review is a result of all those separate visits. Their sushi has improved vastly since they first opened. The rolls we frequently order are: the white swan, the ninja, the crunchy-spicy salmon, and the pepper tuna. I would advise against ordering regular sushi or sashimi, as we find that the fish is often tasteless when not in a roll. Usually their waitstaff is friendly and attentive. BUT there is one server in particular who is terrible -- he's a stocky guy with glasses. He is beyond bad -- if he waits on you, you will not enjoy yourself at Ginza. I bet that many of the one-star ratings are a result of his poor service. However, the other servers are fairly nice and accommodating. Ordering pick-up from Ginza is nice, too, as the food is well packaged and ready when you arrive. Does Ginza dish out the best sushi you will eat in your life? No. But is it terrible sushi? No.

This is one of my favorite places to go for Sushi in milwaukee. The food is always good and service is fast.

Definitely one of our go-tos for sushi takeout. Overall, we love it for the freshness of the fish and the high fish to rice ratio. They have more expensive rolls on the menu that I don't necessarily think are better than the basic rolls. Our favorites include: the sashimi appetizer (7 pieces of raw fish for $7 -- see picture), the eel nigiri, salmon+avocado roll, shrimp tempura roll, and the spicy salmon roll. I recently ate sushi at Fujiyamas and realized I had to peel some of the rice off b/c i was so used to having a thin portion of rice from Ginza. During one of our probably 15 dining experiences here, the avocado in our roll was hard and brown. Large oversight to slip that into our rolls - probably would have been better without avocado. I forgive you though, Ginza. I'll still be coming back often. It also doesn't hurt to keep getting Groupons to keep the price down!

My boyfriend and I found this place with this wheel you spin online, and it gives you a place to eat. We are so glad it landed on here because it was so good! The inside was really nice, service was excellent (our waitress took several photos of us after she saw us struggling to take a selfie of our date), and the food was really good. I immediately texted my friend when we left telling her she needed to try it out.

Love coming here especially when they have the groupon deals! The speciality rolls are delicious especially the ginza and wauwatosa rolls. Hardly ever have to wait too long for seating.

I've eaten here three times for lunch. I recently ordered the lunch special. It came with a salad, teriyaki chicken and California roll. It was delicious and the service was great!

On the recommendation of a friend, I tried this again for take out. This. Is. The. Worst. Japanese. Food. Ever. Disgusting. Heinous. Literally. It's gross. Ordered tartare and got spicy fried tuna on Pringles. Yes, Pringles. Wtf?!? I ordered two rolls and didn't get the fish in them - just vegetables. Seriously!? How can you just miss that!? Called to complain and the guy told me sorry, I can't help you, there's no manager. I asked him to take my number and have someone call me and he sat there on the line... A few minutes later asked me what I wanted him to do... I actually said "are you deaf!?" Have someone call me! He was still confused. Sigh. Please don't waste your money. Go. Anywhere. Else. GROSS! How can this place be allowed to stay open??

Ginza has some nice lunch deals on sushi, and can make for a nice lunch stop. The atmosphere is nice, the service is friendly and helpful, and the sushi itself is pretty decent. I came in with a large(r) group, and they had no trouble accommodating us. Again, the sushi itself is pretty good. It didn't leave me particularly impressed, and if I had to compare it to some other local places, I'd have to say that I felt like it didn't taste as fresh as some other places I've been nearby. That being said, it's still not a bad option for sushi at a good price, especially at lunch.

We had a groupon for this place and since it is close to home we were hoping we would find a new sushi place. It was ok, not blown away at all. We will not come back here.

Sushi delivery? Yes! So excited that I can order something besides pizza or chinese and have it delivered to my door in less than an hour. I ordered the Milwaukee Roll, Crazy Tuna, Electric Shock and Philadelphia roll. The Philadelphia was my least favorite. It reminded me of of fresh grocery store grade rolls. But the other three rolls were outstanding. I will definitely be ordering from Ginza again. If you have not tried it, try it!

  • Bao Y.

Came in for the lunch special, 2 rolls for $8. Sounds like a steal but I was left sorely disappointed and my sushi craving was not satisfied. Usually the flavor of the sushi is enough and I don't feel the need to smother my sushi in sauces but in this case I felt like I needed the soy sauce to help me eat it all. I had the Alaskan and spicy salmon rolls, also orders the soft shell crab, which came deep fried on this bed of disgusting chili sauce. The crab was over battered and fried. My roommate loves this place so I might consider giving it another go for her sake but I wouldn't come here unless I had to.

I've eaten at a lot of sushi places and Ginza kind of falls right int he middle in terms of my feelings. I typically go there for the lunch specials. You really can't beat soup and two rolls for $8. These are basic rolls and nothing fancy. What can you really expect for the price? They aren't the best rolls I have ever had but they are definitely far better than grocery store sushi and I have definitely had much worst in terms of basic rolls at other restaurants. In terms of their fancier specialty rolls I have tried the Wauwatosa, Golden Dream, and Ginza. These rolls are far, far better than the rolls included with lunch but their price reflects that. Someone mentioned the Wauwatosa feels mushy and that's probably because there is creamy baked fish over it... So you kind of should expect it. They all have good taste and the fish seems to be a good quality I'm thinking that a change has happened there. I only began going to Ginza for lunch in May 2014 and I can honestly say that my service has been pretty good. I'm always seated the second I walk in, my server is prompt in bringing me water, my servers typically come to take my order the second I put my menu down and grab my phone (I dine by myself for lunches), and my soup comes out very quickly. I can pretty much get in and out in 30 minutes... Perfect since my lunch is one hour. All-in-all I think Ginza is a solid place. I wouldn't say it's my favorite sushi place ever but if I don't feel like venturing downtown then it's definitely my go-to.

Are here last night. Really enjoyed the fresh sushi rolls. Had: caterpillar, rock n roll, shrimp tempura, and Philadelphia. All were fantastic.

Mars roll is my fav sushi EVER! Crazy Tuna is also AWESOME! Service kind of sucks at times, but this is just a review for the sushi!!!

  • Kayla T.

Cons: I feel as though the sushi is at room temperature or warm. I think it may be because they roll and prep very close to the kitchen area where they deep fry and cook. Miso Soup is extremely salty and the tofu is seems like it was from a vacuum packed package or something. Pros: The Calamari comes with a yummy dipping sauce. The staff is friendly and attentive. The menu has traditional rolls. For people who like fun and non-traditional rolls, there is an extensive selection. If you don't have high sushi standards, then give it a go.

Decided to try this place out & glad I did. I ordered a sweet potato roll (always like those), california roll (something standard) & wauwatosa roll (new to me). I felt like I made a wise choice w/ the Wauwatosa roll-- it was really terrific. This is the one that has tempura shrimp inside w/ avocado and spicy lobster on top. I totally advise you to try this and you won't be disappointed. Their drinks are reasonably priced as well. Miso soup was just ok-- too much seaweed for my taste. I will go back. I have a bias towards Izumis and I believe they will always hold first rank with me, but Ginza was worth going to for lunch. I will go again when in the area.

Ginza is one of those places that I ordered take-out from once, and loved so much that I ordered it again in less than a week. While I love all things uncooked and awesome, my dining companions were a little more timid, so we stuck with a lot of tempura/cooked selections: Here's the low down on everything we've had so far: The Good: - Golden Dream - 4/5 - Soooooo delicious. Sweet mango topping a shrimp tempura roll. The mango is absolutely fantastic. My dining companions turned their nose up at first when I ordered this one, but it was one of the first to disappear from the plate. - Mars - 5/5 - Delicious, fresh tuna and salmon on the outside, warm, crunchy lobster with a little spicy kick inside. Deeeeee-licious. - Wauwatosa - Another slam dunk - 5/5. This is probably a great go-to order for a sushi novice - nothing is raw, and everything is delicious. The roll is filled with tempura shrimp and avocado, and then delicious spicy lobster on top. But what makes it amazing is the sweet, spicy "special sauce" drizzled all over the top. There is nothing authentic about it, but trust me, you won't care. - White Fish Tempura - 4/5 - This roll comes with tempura fried white fish, but adds fried onion into the mix - which was a fun twist on the rolls that I'm used to. - Rainbow - 4/5 - Standard rainbow roll - though I've never seen it with layers of avocado on top alongside the tuna, salmon, and white fish. Not a bad addition. - Sashimi Platter - 5/5 - The cuts of salmon, tuna, and yellowtail were divine. Lots of yummy noises made here. The Not-So-Good: - Beef Negimaki: Definitely one of the low points of the meal - 2/5 stars. It comes as an order of 6 and consists of thin strips of beef rolled around a giant clod of scallions, approximately the size of a sushi roll. I suppose if you love scallions, this is the appetizer for you, but I prefer them as a garnish or minor ingredient, not in mouthful-sized proportions. - Naruto - Another 2/5 dish. tuna, salmon, and avocado rolled in cucumber with a sweet vinegar sauce. I've had sushi rolled in cucumber from other establishments before and really enjoyed it. Usually it is a cool, crisp, fresh twist on sushi. This was a complete disappointment. The cucumber was warm and mushy, and the "sweet vinegar sauce" was a bland, flavorless, mayonaise-like sauce that melted over everything. We didn't bother finishing this one. So far, we've ordered take-out twice - once on a weekend and once on a weekday. We waited about twenty minutes past the quoted time on the weekend, but they were right on the ball during the weekday. So, judging from our experience and other reviews - if you're going to order to-go, the weekdays would probably be your best bet - or be prepared to wait.

I went here for lunch recently and it was very good. The lunch specials are limited but a great value. We had a couple of rolls each and they were all excellent. Looking forward to going back for dinner. The service was very good and the place was spotless. They are definitely in my rotation for lunch places!

Update 3rd visit. Had tried the Ginza, spider, ninja roll. We were very happy with the spider roll crisp and warm. Well made with just the right amount of rice for each roll. The ninja had caviar on top, what a treat. The Sapporo was a good match with the meal. I like the idea that they have a Tosa roll, Milwaukee roll, and a good list of Specialty rolls on the Menu, and look forward to having that in the future. Ambiance this place has a cool look even for lunch. A good mix of family, couples, business, and younger people were looking for a meal beyond a food court meal at the mall which usually cost almost as much. Staff was pleasant with good service checking on us and had time to talk about their Groupon experiences that were good and how one time, it was not so good when someone tried to photoshop their own numbers. Bad customer! They had done a Groupon deal 2 times already and they plan to do another this winter. Warning groupon can be a great deal but they expire and get really busy just before the deadlines. So plan ahead.

Love this place, miso soup is good, the dumplings are good, my favorite is the ginza roll, it's been excellent every time I have gone. I also think it's pretty reasonably priced. I would recommend it.

My boyfriend and I were looking for a new sushi place to try, and I found out about Ginza via Yelp. We were pleasantly surprised!! The inside is very polished and new looking and the food was wonderful. We started with the Shumi (shrimp dumplings) which came with a spicy dipping sauce , 6 dumplings for $4.25. I thought they were steamed to perfection and had great flavor and texture; they were not as soft/gooey as shrimp dumplings I've had at other places. I ordered an Alaskan Roll ($5) and the Yasai Roll ($4; avocado/cucumber/asparagus). I'm usually not one for raw-fish sushi but I was feeling adventurous and I'm glad I went with the Alaskan rolls. They were very fresh and the fish had great texture - again it wasn't soft, or fishy tasting. The Yasai rolls were fantastic - a must if you are a vegetarian sushi lover. My boyfriend ordered the spicy tuna rolls ($5; they were very tasty!) and the Eternal Love roll (the most expensive item we ordered - $14). The Eternal Love rolls were fantastic. Again, I'm not one for raw fish but these rolls, which were cut and placed to form 4 large hearts on the plate (aw!), were the perfect combination of tuna, sweet potato, and "special sauce." We also shared the large house sake. It was by far the best house sake I have had at a sushi/Asian fusion restaurant... and only $6! We ended up getting a second bottle ;) The service was a little slow, there was quite a bit of lag time between our appetizer and our rolls. However, it probably took a while to make those beautiful Eternal Love rolls. We had a wonderful, relaxing dining experience and the bill was $45! I would give Ginza 4.5 stars, and will definitely be coming back to try other items. It looks like they pretty awesome lunch specials. We just may have found our new favorite sushi place!

I frequently come here when I have a groupon. The sushi and other hot food are quite tasty. Whenever I come, there's usually a table ready to go. It's not my top fave, but Ginza is definitely a reliable restaurant.

Update: these are our fav rolls: dynamite (u can start singing 'I came to dance dance dance' like I do everytime I eat it ;). Joy, golden dream, crazy tuna, Jason, hurricane, and funky monkey. Ginza is awesome. I've probably been here 15-20 times, usually for lunch. And it does have a sorta clubbie-date night vibe which breaks up the work day nicely. The calamari, soft shell crab and (my fav) the baby octopus salad (served in a martini glass r all delicious. We usually get some sort of special roll which varies along with a list of special changing apps. Make sure to ask them for that menu - sometimes they forget. Service is attentive, and I really heart the mini old school bottles of diet coke. It's a little hidden, behind the flattop, Starbucks, and chipolte in the southwest corner of the little shopping complex on mayfair. Awesome rolls, great atmosphere

I visited Ginza twice in the past week because I had two Groupons expiring tomorrow. I have to get better at using those things sooner! On my first visit, I ordered off the "Specials" menu. I started with the Tuna Carpacho. It came highly recommended from a friend. The sushi grade tuna slices were covered in Hawaiian dressing and scallions. Not sure what made the dressing Hawaiian. It tasted like the same dressing that they and every other sushi restaurant uses on salads. The dish was good, but I don't think I would order it again. Next up were the sushi rolls. I ordered the Jason Roll and a newer roll called the Red Dragon. The Jason Roll is filled with avocado, crab meat, cream cheese, jalapeno, and shrimp with a wasabi mayo and a sweet soy sauce. Then the roll is tempura fried and topped with caviar. It sounded great, but the end result was underwhelming. The Red Dragon Roll was much better, filled with lobster salad, then topped with eel, shrimp, avocado and eel sauce (unagi is my favorite flavor in a sushi roll). Delish! On my second visit, I ordered a very ordinary seafood soup containing two small scallops, two medium sized shrimp and two small sticks of crab meat. The sushi rolls I ordered were the Silent Scream Maki (not sure why they chose that name), filled Eel tempura & cucumber, and topped with spicy tuna & avocado, fried onion, served with chef's special sauce, and the Ginza Maki with Shrimp tempura, avocado, and eel inside, then topped with spicy salmon. Both of these were good. I would order them again. Service both nights was slow. The second visit was worse as there was a mad rush for everyone to use their expiring Groupons. Ginza wasn't staffed for the rush. It's still one of my two favorite places for sushi. The value is great. I am always satisfied that I got my money's worth, and that's important to me.

Wanting to try a new place, and wanting some sushi, I got 5 rolls for take-out to share with my husband today--California, Philadelphia, Rock and Roll, Wauwatosa, and Mars. While they were all flavorful and were presented very nicely, at the end of the day, I have only three stars. Minus a star for texture. The specialty rolls were both fairly mushy, and it was hard to distinguish the flavors that looked oh so good on the menu. Particularly, there was not a crunch to be had in the crunchy lobster of the Mars Then minus a star because the coupon on their website doesn't load. I forgot to ask about it, but since the menu has a 20% take-out coupon, I'll assume that's would have been available online. Sushi ain't cheap; it would have been really nice to have had that discount instead of a blank page. I rarely make it out to Mayfairland, and Ginza by itself won't be enough of a reason to make the trek, even though the meal was indeed good. There are just too many other options available.

Tried this place for the 1st time, this week. Good food, reasonable prices, great staff. Even the regular tuna roll was stuffed with fresh tuna. Try the rock and roll - something different.

I came here on the day before a groupon/living social (i can't keepem straight) expired, and expected it to be busy. My expectations were met, but the staff was super nice realizing how busy it was, going out of their way to make sure we were OK with our beers at the bar. I've now been her for lunch and dinner. I've enjoyed both experiences and really havne't any complaints. I reserve 5-star ratings for places that blow me away, i've not been blown away yet at Ginza, but cirtainly discussed with myself the option of giving this a 5-star rating. Perhaps after a few more visits? Try the Ginza roll, its great. Sapporo.

I love trying out new sushi spots and I am always looking for my next favorite roll/ piece of fish in these adventures, Ginza Sushi Bar, sadly, did not do it for me. I ordered a diet coke to go with my meal and oddly enough it came in an 8oz bottle. While I like the novelty of it, $2 is a little much for that amount of soft drink. My friend and I started with a cup of miso soup (fairly standard) and their rock shrimp appetizer. This appetizer was very good and was served in an edible little cup, such a fun touch! The shrimp themselves were delicious and the tempura batter was perfect. The subtle spice mixed well together, I like these little guys! My friend ordered the ginger pork lunch special. She actually raved about it and now wants to figure out a way to make that sauce at home! Maybe the hot dishes are the way to go here. As far as sushi goes, we ordered a Mars roll to share and I had their lunch sashimi/sushi special. The Mars roll I thought to be relatively small for the price, but it was good and had a nice little crunch to it on the inside. The sashimi/sushi plate was plain and simple, not very good. The fish slices were thinner than normal on the sushi, the sashimi was a 1/3 ratio for good pieces of fish to bad. The tuna was lovely, tasted good, and had that nice melt quality about it. The salmon and the yellowtail however were not very good. Something about the salmon seemed a 'little fishy' and not in the good way. I wouldn't order this again. Our lunch here was good, but not great. I expected better quality sushi, perhaps I came on an off day. Either way, my friend wants to go back for that ginger pork so perhaps I'll have a better experience then!

I went here on 1/29/13 for the second time and was again disappointed. The first time I went here was a couple months ago with a group of 6 because I had a Groupon. It took 45 minutes to get a table, which didn't surprise me because it was a weekend. But there were plenty of tables open. The hostess told us there weren't enough menus, so we couldn't be seated. It took a long time for the waiter to even ask for drinks, and then every time we wanted drinks after that, we had to flag the waiter down. Our food took a long time as well, and then we never got plates, which was awkward because we had to eat over the table. The sushi was just mediocre, which was disappointing since I had had heard good reviews from friends. When I went again this past Tuesday (just with my boyfriend this time), I was again disappointed. Again we had to wait for a table because they were out of menus, and again it took forever for the waiter to even take our order. It took 45 minutes for our sushi to come, though it did not appear to be very busy. Also the waiter did not check in with us to see how we were doing and I had to flag him down for another drink. Very disappointed. I go out for sushi often, but this will not be one of my regular spots.

This place is very good and reasonable. The standouts are the spicy tuna roll, mars roll, and tuna tartare. For you bozos complaining about the pringles, chips are a traditional accompaniment to tartares. Julie M. must have something against this place other than the food because I have gotten take-out many times and its always been very good. And, they are opening a location right down the street from me in Bayside. Yipeeeee!!

Tonight was my first time visiting Ginza Sushi Bar. I liked it. I went with my wife, nephew and his wife. We each ordered a roll. They were all good. For adult refreshment, 3 of 4 of us ordered the Cucumber Cooler cocktail. For a warm Summer's evening, I'd highly recommend this drink. It was cold with little slivers of fresh cucumber. I'm not sure what the liquor was (maybe vodka?), but it wasn't overpowering and made for a good aperitif. We also ordered edamame, too. These can't be screwed up, but you can make 'em better, and I think Ginza did -- they brought them to the table steaming hot! Nice. Another appetizer we enjoyed was the tempura vegetables. Also good, notably so, because the vegetables were fresh and cooked in very hot oil. This made them oil-less and crispy. Our service was great. We had more than one waitress help us at our table. We also had my great nephew with us (6 mos. old). Our waitress was very kind to him and made us feel welcome for bringing him along. I was a little worried about the style of the place -- it's at the end of a new, albeit modern, shopping strip. But once inside, I was pleased with the simple, dark, contemporary decor. It made for a nice place to hang out on a weeknight evening. This is good news because before tonight, if I wanted sushi, I typically had to drive downtown or farther out into Milwaukee's suburbs. Not any more. Now I can quality dead fish within only a few minutes of my house! Well done, Ginza. You'll see me again. [Side note: I see another review on Yelp for this place saying that Ginza's rolls were mushy. Conversely, that was one of the things that we enjoyed most about their rolls. The ones that were supposed to have crunch did; the ones that weren't expected to be crunchy, weren't. Maybe she visited on an off day.]

Perhaps I am a NY snob. I do doubt the quality of restaurants outside of my beloved City. My current occupation forces me to travel a bit, so I ought to be open minded about my beloved country. That thought is dying a painful death so far, especially here at Ginza. Tuna tartar served with Pringles. I will say that again, tuna tartar served with Pringles. As if it weren't salty enough, you present it with Pringles?!? The sashimi and dragon roll were as unremarkable as the decor and pathetically portioned for the price. I longed for a Sakura chain. I take it the few readers of my review will say that I am indeed a NY snob. So be it. I am sure Milwaukee has something else to offer: beer, deep fried cheese curds. Just not going to get to it on this trip. NY? Not soon enough

I've been to Ginza many times, mostly for lunch, and a few times for dinner. I will say right off the bat that if you are in a hurry, this is not the place to go. Every time I've gone there for lunch, I've regretted it as the whole experience takes nearly 2 hours, even when it is not busy. I went today, and the service was exceptionally slow, despite only 4 other diners being in the restaurant. Once our food was finally served, we still hadn't received utensils, and we had to remind our waiter to bring us some utensils. The food is good, but not remarkable. I probably won't be going to Ginza ever again over my lunch break, as I never make it back to work in a timely fashion.

I have eaten at Ginza four times now, twice at lunch and twice at dinner. It has never, ever been fast. I can't imagine anyone with a short lunch hour being able to go there when there's any business in the place. The sushi has been hit or miss. Twice, I'd go with 4 or even 5 stars on the sushi, twice maybe a 3. I also feel like the waitstaff seats you and ignores your. Maybe it's a cultural thing in Japanese culture to leave diners alone while they eat,, but being attentive is the way we like it around Milwaukee,

My husband and I like dining here. We usually get the sushi deluxe and the service is great. The wait time is decent and not long like some other Japanese restaurants we've eaten at. I also like their Gyu Don dish.

My wife and I went there with a groupon. The place looks nice. The constant lady gaga and other house music was a bit distracting. My wife Who identified herself as vegetarian ordered the seaweed salad and received it with faux crab on the side and caviar on top. I ordered two specialty rolls. It took about 45 minutes for our food to arrive. When it did I started my roll and found the crab still wrapped in plastic. Nasty!!! My new roll arrives quickly (not sure why it took 40 minutes the first time around). The nori on the sushi was so touch that with every sushi piece I was left with an indigestible ball of nori that I had to put aside. When the bill came around we weren't offered to have the plastic wrapped roll taken off. Seems like the least they could have done. By far the worst sushi I have experienced ever.

Oh Ginza...You have some really great menu items, but some really terrible customer service. I don't come here as often as I would if the service was better. There are some great rolls and the prices aren't bad, but expect to have your order wrong, have a rude server that ignores you, and to wait. And wait... One time we came in for lunch and there were two other people in the entire restaurant, yet it took 10-15 minutes for the waiter to come by. He wasn't busy, he was sitting down at the sushi bar. Twice I have gotten the wrong order. The first time the waitress repeated the right one, then asked again, shortened the name to what was apparently the name for another roll, and then brought back the wrong order 15 minutes later. The hostess had to come by because she was arguing with us about what we ordered. We ended up getting the right roll made finally and were not charged for the wrong ones that we sent back. The next time they got the order wrong months later, I had asked how many hand rolls were included. The waiter did not answer, but asked if I wanted more than one. I said yes and he said okay. And when the food arrived, it was not hand rolls, but California Rolls. He did not understand why the order was wrong and the hostess had to come by. They refused to fix the order and I had to order the hand roll and wait, and I was stuck with California Rolls which you can pick up at the grocery store. 8/10 times you come here, you will either wait a long time to be seated, have the waiter come by, have the waiter come back, or to get your food in the first place. The waiter or waitress 9/10 out of 10 times will take your order and disappear and you will never see them again. Re-fills are nonexistent. When you do see them, they are distant and unfriendly. You will however see them sitting around doing nothing or chatting instead. Lastly, the music they play isn't the standard Japanese pop or relaxing classical, but instead tacky American Top 40 blasted over the speakers. If they didn't have rolls that I really like ((Spicy Tuna Tempura, White Fish Tempura, and the Hawaiian Roll), the terrible customer service here would make me never, ever come back.

It'll be the best sushi you can find in MKE, but don't go in expecting SF/NYC freshness. Just sayin'

Terrible. The whole experience took more than two hours and they were not fun. We were told 30 mins for a table so we decided to wait. 55 minutes later they got around to seating us. Our server first came 10 minutes after we sat down. We a waited another 40 minutes for our food, which didn't include the appetizer we ordered. For sushi I would normally wait this long any day because I love it so much but this is the worst tasting sushi I've ever had. Very bland, fish wasn't very fresh. Will not dine here again.

We visited Ginza a few week ago after buying a nice Groupon deal. I found the sushi to be generally satisfying, but when comparing it to other sushi places in the area (Fujiyama, Wasabi, Screaming Tuna, Thai-namite) I realize that this is a place that I won't be placing in my sushi regulars. The regular rolls were okay. Yes, these are typically very simple rolls, but the quality of the ingredients didn't really jump out at me. And the specialty rolls, although creative, didn't really blow me away. My favorite rolls were the Mars, White Swan, and TNT. No complaints about the service - the water was refilled regularly and it didn't take forever for our server to bring and collect our check. Reasonably priced.

I have had dinner at Ginza in person previously, but I did not make a return visit as they did not take American Express and that is what I had to use for travel. Ordered delivery to my hotel and while I had a little trouble communicating with the person over the phone the food itself was wonderful and delivered promptly. I strongly recommend the Golden Dream roll - tempura shrimp topped with Mango.. I have never had anything like it before and it was da BOMB!! Great Spicy Tuna handroll as well - just enough of a kick without overpowering the flavor of the tuna and sushi rice. Now that they take AMEX I will regularly use GInza - much closer than making the drive out to Brookfield or downtown Milwaukee for good sushi.

I am a little spoiled as I grew up surrounded by 2 major bodies of water, 10 minutes from Atlantic Ocean in FL. & my expectations of salt water fish are very high (no fresh water fish for me). I moved here in April & was having a hard time finding a good sushi establishment. I have tried other sushi places & realized that living in the northern Midwest part of the states I was just going to have to settle for average sushi. A coworker introduced me to this place & I am forever grateful to her. I love this place & every different roll I have tried has not let me down yet. I only hope that in five years they are still as good as they are now & don't get sloppy as many places tend to do once they are fully established.

Anyone who knows me knows that I will eat just about anything seafood related. As long as it's not baby otters and won't poison me, I'll eat it. I keep coming back to this place, partly because of the food, and partly because of sentimental reasons. The regular rolls are about what you'd expect from a good sushi place. But the specialty rolls...oh boy. I love tempura, and this place delivers. I can't remember the name of what we had last time, but it was a tempura roll topped with caviar and flanked on each end by half a tempura soft shell crab. Oh....Imma need a minute.... OK. Also, the last time I had sashimi there I ate, no, EXPERIENCED a God among fish in salmon form. I mean melt in your mouth just fatty enough super fresh PERFECTION. The service is very good. Every time I've been, I've seen many of the same staff members working, so it's good to know that they have some degree of employee retention. Our food took quite a while last time we went, but they gave us a free appetizer, which was nice. About the four stars - I don't know what the deal is, but I've watched the quality of their salads steadily decline. When I first went in I think winter 2010 (?), it was spring mix topped with a gorgeous sesame dressing. Loved it. Next visit it was iceberg lettuce topped with spring mix, same dressing. OK. Last visit was literally iceberg 'garnished' with three pieces of soggy spinach. Gross. I'd just as soon not have a salad. Maybe next time I'll just avoid it completely and ask for two bowls of miso, one for me and one for my boyfriend. Overall, I love this place, their sushi kicked my ass, and I will definitely return.

Ummm... I'm trying to control myself. This is the best sushi that I've ever eaten in my entire life. Ie visited the restaurant on a saturday night with my sister on a whim. I had previously visited and could not remember the experience, so we decided to try again. Holy cow!! I ordered the Sushi 'appetizer' that was $5 for 4 pieces of the freshest sushi I have ever eaten. The menu lists tuna and other sushi for 2 pieces for $4, but the appetizer is a better deal. The plate included hIgh grade tuna, salmon, whitefish, and snapper, all of impeccable quality. For an entree I ordered the whitefish tempura that had onions, avocado, and tobikko. I don't know how many times can say that this was the best sushi I ever had. The tuna and avocado w/ cucumber were very different than the norm because of the julienned pieces of cucumber inside. Imagine a small piece of cucumber divided into 30 little pieces stuffed inside of an inside out roll. Game changer. My sister had the shrimp tempura, 'rock and roll' and eel and cucumber roll and she couldn't stop dancing in her seat. Whatever you are doing you should stop and go there now.

The speed of this business has been commented on by previous reviewers, though I did not have to wait for seating (as the place was quite empty when I arrived), but it took a long time for the food to arrive even when patrons were scarce. I ordered one sashimi combo and one sushi combo, all that had only raw fish. The only part that was required to be cooked was the rice. The orders took over 45 minutes to arrive. I had noticed that the platters have been sitting on top of the sushi bar for quite a while before the waitress finally relayed it to my table. The Chinese waitress seemed extremely inefficient in serving three tables, neither did she have the wit to appease unhappy patrons. When the sashimi arrived, it looked as if the margins of the plate were splattered with a reddish OIL. When the waitress was questioned what that oil was, since sashimi is not supposed to be drenched in oil, she naively responded that it was sauce. This Chinese waitress seems to be completely unacquainted with sushi, and is not on the brightest end of the spectrum. She was sent to ask the chef, who claimed that it was for decoration. Logically, decoration would be done with sauces more viscous as not to taint the fish, not to mention oily sauces that run. It may have been the oil was splattered onto the plate, but they tried to pass it off, or else the "decoration" only reflected the chef's lack of aesthetic judgement and logic. Not surprisingly, the oil on the side had a piece of HAIR bobbing around inside an oil bubble. Another waitress who had been cleaning the table next to mine noticed my alarm, and inquired into the situation. The lighting in the restaurant is not great, but with a handy portable flashlight, there was no doubt that "foreign material" had wormed its way into the "decoration." The second waitress immediately had a new plate ordered, and surprisingly it came within the next 10 mins. This plate no longer had hair or decoration, though one piece of sashimi had BONE in it. I had pulled out the bone coincidentally when the Chinese waitress was adding more tea, and to her alarm, she offered free ice cream as compensation. The compensation offered by the second waitress, after consulting with her manager, was a 15% off our check, though the coupons on their to-go menus offer the same deal. At the end, they took off $15 from the check. For being in Wauwatosa, the quality of the sushi and sashimi was better than I had expected, but the service and management must be improved.

Last night was my 4th time eating at Ginza.. and we had the best service to date.. I think her name was "Lis" or "Liz" or something to that tune.. she was the perfect balance of "being there and not being there.." She never awkwardly stood at the table when she wanted to get our attention.. anyway.. coming from a former long time Japanese Restaurant server.. I was impressed. We started off with Miso soups and the Green salad.. I like that the ginger dressing was a little bit less creepy hot orange than some other Japaneses places of the same calibur. It had some zing to it. We got the dragon roll to start.. and that was very good.. no skimping on the eel on top, I liked that. We also got the Beef Negimaki.. which is pretty standard too.. We then got the TNT roll which is salmon with cucumber, avocado I think with a hot oil sauce that gave it some heat. Also wanted to gte something I had never had before so we got the Haru Making which is Japanese spring rolls.. I had asked if these were deep fried or not before I got them and she said that they were.. My mom wanted to try them so I caved too.. They were good as far as the deep fried egg rolls go.. I will say that they werent soggy or greasy, as many bad experiences of spring rolls can typically go.. but they werent really my cup of tea. Ill be back.. this was my first dinner experience, but they also have a quick and reasonably priced lunch menu

Okay, so the Red Dragon, Tsunami are established favorites, and must haves. Now we're adding the Eternal Love, Miracle, and Rising Sun to that list as well. Let's just say there isn't anything bad on this menu from what I can tell. The servers are very friendly, and the ambiance is very clean and modern. I would say that the only drawback for us is that the amount of the edamame we get for the appetizer is a bit on the smaller side. I asterisk this comment because I eat way too much food, especially when it's this good. The fact that they offer Groupons is just amazing. Don't hesitate and enjoy.

Just went here with my boyfriend for dinner and we had a pretty good meal! I have to disagree with some of the previous reviews, we were sat fast, waited on promptly, and the food came out lickity split! We did miss the dinner rush by like 15min so I think that made a big difference! The food was pretty decent, I got the sushi deluxe sampler and my bf got the taryaki chicken both were what we expected, only down side was it was a little over priced for my liking. We will probably be back for take out!

I've been to this place three times and have decided that it is reliably good. The prices on the sake are affordable and I've haven't been disappointed with any of the bottles that have been recommended to me by the wait staff. The service has always been friendly and, depending on how busy they are, prompt and accommodating. My most recent visit was on the night before Valentine's Day and I thought that the service was perfect. The restaurant itself is dimly lit with candles but is otherwise pretty laid back. On to the food... The appetizers aren't anything special. With regards to the sushi, about half of the rolls that I have ordered have been absolutely mouthwatering while the other half have been mediocre to good. Most of the specialty rolls have been on the mouthwatering side of the spectrum whereas the regular rolls haven't been as good as ones that I have had at other places. The food prices are also pretty reasonable. With two people, we have been able to get 4 rolls, an appetizer and a bottle of sake for about $50 total (before tip).

I had a groupon and I went with my family. Let me just say that we had no idea what we were getting. We came in, sat down, our waiter was patient as he told us the different things and he knew when to come back and check up on us. Now the Sushi. On my God, it was as close as I could get to heaven. I had the fried soft shelled crab and one of the sushi dishes ( I wish I could remember which one). The fish tasted fresh on my sister's plate and they gave us each our own dish to put soy sauce in. Honestly, I don't know how I didn't find this place until my groupon, but I've been trying to get friends to come along with me again.

This is a great place to take a date. The interior looks like a swanky, downtown night club. The kitchen and sushi area is all open and on display. The sushi and sashimi lunch combo was some of the best sushi that I ever had. The salad actually had fresh greens (not just white iceberg) and the dressing had the typical cold and sweet ginger flavor, but there was more depth to it. The tempura was perfection! The lunch special is very reasonable, however, dinner looks a little on the high end, for suburban dining.

This place ties with Kiku downtown for worst sushi I've ever had. Age tofu is absolutely disgusting; the breading turns into chewy slime in your mouth. I even ordered it two different times during 2 different visits to see if it's consistently bad. The last time I was there it took about 15 minutes to get our check. 2 stars instead of 1 because the service was at least friendly, the place is nice and modern, and the music is cool.

I'd heard good things about Ginza and finally had a chance to try it. It's on the casual side, and I went for carry out. The prices were very reasonable, perfect for a to-go order. The service was fast and friendly, and the quality of the fish was excellent. It may be my new local favorite.

Great little sushi place tucked away near Mayfair Mall. This was the my first time there and there was plenty for me to choose from! Plenty of the basic rolls and some interesting combinations. Tried the seaweed salad and was pleasantly surprised. It was delish and I'll definitely order it for myself next time. Prices were just rights do it was a clean, nicely decorated place.

Crazy Tuna Pepper Tuna & Avocado on Top, Crunchy Spicy Tuna Inside - $11.00 White Swan Spicy Yellow Tail, Tempura Flakes and Caviar on the Inside, Topped with White Tuna - $10.00 White Tuna Sashimi 3 Pieces per Order - $6.00 I stumbled upon this place when I was in an area not too familiar and awaiting an appointment. It sucks when you're so hungry that you continue to drive in circles, not being able to think straight. Thankfully, this joint simply popped out at me! The adage goes "don't eat the fish unless you can see the water it came from"; however, in the case of Ginza, feel free to throw that comment out the window. This place serves fresh (did someone say FRESH?!) sushi. Quite honestly, Ginza offers some of the freshest sushi I've ever encountered... The atmosphere is awesome. It seems to be quite upscale, which would be perfect for a business luncheon or a night on the town. However, this doesn't mean it's too trendy. The place is very clean and minimal on the noise, so it's perfect, especially if you choose to have a meeting here. Oh, and they offer free WiFi too!

Husband and I visited Ginza for a late night sushi run. We have been several times before and while the sushi has always been amazing the service depends. This time, we had our typical regular rolls (spicy salmon and eel avocado) as well as two special rolls, the Ginza and Summer Special which had mango and shrimp inside and was topped with raw salmon and a special mango sauce. The summer roll was recommended by our waitress and it was great. Se loved out sushi and the darker more intimate atmosphere is right up our alley. We will continue to patronize Ginza and LOVE the fact that they deliver to our home.. Super bonus!

Their sushi is OK. The fish tasted fine, but it definitely did not look fresh (dried out a bit?). Most of their rolls included mayo or cream cheese (agh, why do people like creaminess on their fish-it just doesn't seem natural to me) and (yes tuna melts gross me out). I left this place wishing I had just gone to the chipotle a couple doors down. I suggest you do the same.

I came in on Valentine's Day with a couple girlfriends. The setting was romantic: red walls, dimmed lighting, and roses placed on each table. Great for couples, and great for three girls wanting to stuff their face with Pinot Grigio and maki rolls (the low lighting can hide my shame). We were immediately seated, and our server was great. I ordered the Maki Combination, which consisted of a Tuna Roll, a California Roll, and a Shrimp Tempura Roll. Out of the three, my favorite was the Tuna Roll. It was simple, but made the most impact. The tuna was fresh, and had a pleasing texture. The California Roll was standard. The avocado was a a bit hard (unripe), but hey, it's the dead of winter so I'm not deducting any stars for that. As for the Shrimp Tempura Roll, it was pretty good. The tempura was light and crispy, and the sauce added decadence and flavor. My meal also came with miso soup and a salad. The salad was fresh, but the miso soup was on the sour side, so I couldn't finish it. The price point was fair, especially for the quality and portions of my meal. My overall experience with the service was positive up until at one point, my chopsticks accidentally rolled off the table. It wasn't our server but another employee asked if I was done with my meal. When I politely asked her for another pair of chopsticks, she let out an annoyed sigh, and dramatically marched away to get my another pair. It was awkward to say the least, which is why I gave Ginza three stars instead of four. I wouldn't say Ginza is the best sushi joint in Milwaukee, but it certainly wasn't the worst. I wouldn't be opposed to dining here again, however, it wouldn't be my first choice.

We were visiting in the Milwaukee area and found this cute Japanese restaurant. Sincey family is Asian, we know a good Japanese restaurant. The atmosphere is pleasant and appealing, and the food was fantastic. The chicken Don was tasty and seasoned perfectly. The sushi was fresh and wrapped tightly. The Service was excellent and very attentive... Overall we really enjoyed our experience and highly recommend them. We will be back!

Gotta love Groupon, they are good at what they do! Every few months a deal will appear for this place as a subtle reminder that I need to make a return trip. There are things here I like, and things here I love so I should come here more, even if it's across town from where I spend most of my time. But after the euphoria of the meal it becomes a bit unremarkable memory in a hurry. On my latest trip a friend and I decide to share a few things. My usual choice is to go with an all roll order, but the lunch specials on bentos, and udons, and entrees led me to go with a Chicken Katsu. A very thinly pounded chicken breast was coated in panko and perfectly fried to a crisp, golden brown crust. The chicken remained tender and moist, and the breading was well seasoned, and just the right thickness. The Miso Soup does stand out a bit from others as it's not as salty as what many restaurants serve. The kelp and scallions we accompanied by more than the usual amount of tofu as well. The Spider Rolls were comprised of fried soft shell crab, cucumber, lettuce, and avocado, which provided a tasty base. But the toppings of black caviar and the chef's special ginger sauce stole the show. I'd give these rolls 5 stars. The Crunchy Spicy Salmon Rolls were simple, yet tasty. Diced pieces of well seasoned salmon were mixed with tempura flakes and roll tightly. I would also give these rolls 5 stars. The rolls that fell a bit flat on this visit were the White Swan. Both the appearance and the taste weren't up to the standards of the other rolls. the menu listed spicy yellow tail, tempura flakes, and caviar on the inside, and white tuna on the outside. The tuna was pretty bland and made for a boring first bite, especially with white rice right under the white tuna. There needed to be something to blend all the flavors together and without it, I could only give these rolls five stars. On previous visits my favorite rolls were the Red Devil Rolls. Crab sticks are seasoned and fried and placed inside the roll which is then topped with crunchy, spicy tuna. Eel and avocado is another favorite - Just eel, avocado and that magic chef's special ginger sauce to pull the whole thing together. I'd give both these rolls 5 stars. The rock and roll (flavors compete with each other) and the shiitake asparagus (dry, weird blend of tastes, no sauce) are the only two I would no recommend at all. I typically order takeout here and it's always ready when promised. But on the occasion that I dine in service has always been great. All told Ginza will satisfy your craving but most likely not in the most grandiose fashion.

We are regulars here. It is one of our favorites when it comes to sushi in the area. The staff is always friendly, and we can count on a consistently good roll here. We started with a Groupon, and now we are hooked. LOVE the Wauwatosa roll. The Ginza is also very good.

It's rare when I step outside my comfort zone when it comes to food. But my dining experience at Ginza rewarded me for doing so. Dragged here by a friend with a Groupon, I was somewhat skeptical going to an average-rated sushi bar in a strip mall by Mayfair. None-the-less I tried to keep an open mind. I showed up early to scope out the place and have a drink to muster up some liquid courage before I embark on my culinary adventure. The bartendress didn't know what happy hour meant, but their menu wasn't overly priced anyways. I had one of the asian beers Sopporo? or somethign like that. It was good. They have a mini bar that you can sit at, though I don't think it's often used. The seating is lengthwise to the back of the place with the kitchen and bar both off to the left. The lighting is dark-ish with red decor. I would assume this is pretty typical atmosphere for a sushi place. Considering I don't dine out for this type of food often, I had to make the most of it by ordering Sake Bombs. The lady said they don't normally do that but said she could accommodate. The sake was warm and the bombs were delicious. The other people dining all kind of looked over as it's not the most subtle shot to take (since you knock the table to drop the shot in the glass). Apprehensive over what to get since cold chewy rice with raw fish doesn't sound appealing... I went with the safe "Spicy Tuna Tempura" choice. But of course Edamame first. The Edemame was somewhat overcooked, but the flavor was amazing. Our food took a bit to come out but it was worth it when it did. I struggled to eat the sushi rolls using chopstick, but refused to ask for a fork. The sushi was delicious. Perhaps I was a tad buzzed but I couldn't believe how good my food was. Not what I expected. The bill wasn't cheap but wasn't a bank breaker either. Just like Tochi, this place is not a place I would normally go to, but I may have to change normality, and come here soon again.

I am still giving Ginza the same rating. The pieces of Nigiri are are fresh but the rice must have been just made (still warm) so the rice on the bottom of the fish fell apart as soon as you picked it up with chop sticks. The flavor of the fish was good although the pieces were really small. ($14.00 with a substitution of the California roll for an eel and avocado roll) My hubby once again ordered the terryaki chicken which was on a plate with a separate bowl of rice. The veggies next to it were hard and barely steamed. We came around 6 and the place was relatively empty. The waitress was very attentive and friendly. We ended up spending $46.00 ($30 Groupon) which was comparable to our other sushi place but we still think we get more food at our regular place) I still say give it a try if you are in the Mayfair area.

Great sushi, service was a little slow. My girlfriend and I sat wondering where our waiter was for about 10-15 minutes. Which was bizarre because it wasn't crowded. But we received our rolls eventually and they were delicious. Update: I just posted this review because I forgot to finish it from last time.. 2nd time here, had the same exact waiter. Sushi was excellent, service was not. Same waiter was more concerned to talking to his boyfriend at the bar than coming to bring our check. We were done with our food about 10-15 minutes AGAIN before he inevitably brought our check, when he only had one other table. He was polite, just extremely slow and distracted.

The first time I stopped in here was when I was on my hour lunch break from work. We were seated right away. Although it was 12:30 pm (sill kind of lunch rush timing) the place had a nice amount of space open! So I was pleased with that. The woman who served us was awesome and very (but not overly) attentive, and our food came out quickly! (another thing I was pleased with since those hour lunches always seem to fly by, am I right??) I got the lunch special which is 2 rolls of sushi served with miso soup for $8. The miso soup came out first. It was very light and tasted great. Maybe 5 minutes later our main courses came out. I ordered the spicy tuna roll and the California roll. Everything was great but I gravitated more towards the California roll which was def the winner. Overall I was very pleased with my first trip here. The portion sizes of the food were great- I had leftovers to take back to work. And they give you a good amount of ginger and (the most important part) wasabi. I also like the atmosphere of the restaurant- it felt "cozy" for a quick lunch stop unlike a Qdoba or (god forbid) a McDonalds dine-in area. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because although my spicy tuna roll was good it wasn't out-of-this-world good. I'll be back for lunch again!

My family and I order takeout from Ginza regularly and they're consistently great. Spider roll and scorpion roll are interesting, generous and delicious. The salmon sushi and sashimi are fresh and tasty. We typically order the miso soup with extra tofu for our daughter whom loves the soup and ask for extra caviar on the spider roll as my 3 year old son loves to eat all of the roe off of my sushi. California rolls are the only average dish but that's to be expected they are the most bland on the menu. Often they have a groupon deal and we buy the max amount available. The take out is great and the atmosphere inside is transformational. You walk in from a strip mall and it feels like a completely different place not a strip mall sushi joint. I would give it 5 stars but they never have uni which I crave (sea urchin roe) and sometimes run out of fatty salmon. I wish they carried fatty tuna then it would be 5 stars!

One of the places I go to for lunch. Convenient place to get Japanese food. It is priced perfect for lunch. I the sushi is OK but not outstanding. The rolls tend to fall a part when eating them. There lunch boxes are standard fare when going to a place like this. The service could be a little friendlier. Overall not a bad place when going to get Japanese food.

Horrible experience. They messed up my order by providing something completely different than what i ordered. It was a take out order and I live 10 miles away. Their only offer was a 20% on my next visit or 20% credit on my account, but I would have to come in for them to rerun my card. Yea right...that make sense as it costs that much in gas for me to return. All this over a $15 meal which I found a hair in later after I attempted to eat the meal. Will never return. They just lost a customer for good over $15. Hope they enjoy!

At my second experience of Ginza I ordered take-out and was very pleased. The Wauwatosa roll is the best thing I have ever eaten, and I am nursing a hardcore addiction...

WHY: I wanted sushi and didn't want to drive far from home. First time at Ginza and was really hoping they had something "safe" to keep the Mrs. happy while I got my raw fish fix. ORDERED: I ordered the Sushi Deluxe (10 pieces of assorted sushi & 1 roll of tuna) - $19, Hot Tea, Mrs. ordered the Teriyaki Chicken - $16 TASTED: The Miso Soup that's served with each entree is really good. Pieces of kelp, tofu, scallion in a nice not-too-salty broth. The side salad with ginger dressing is also very good, actual micro greens and not all iceberg lettuce like other places serve. These starters arrived within five minutes of ordering. I really enjoyed the sushi deluxe. I liked that I had the option of reduced sodium soy sauce. The ten pieces of sushi should be labeled somehow. I had to ask the waiter what each were (some were obvious). The Red Snapper and Salmon were my favorites. The tuna roll tasted really off, strange because the sushi all tasted fresh. My hot green tea was tepid. WHAT AM I EATING?: I dislike that there's no mention of sustainability (Monterey Bay Watch) and if the fish are farm or wild caught. It takes a level of trust to eat raw fish to begin with and I think Ginza falls short on informing customers about their fish choices. EMPIRE FISH is right down the street, this could be in the menu if that's who they source from. My wife wasn't really happy with her Teriyaki Chicken dish. She said it tasted like it was on the menu to appease people who come to a sushi bar and don't like sushi. The vegetables looked good but were not steamed, but lightly stir fried and hard to the point of not being edible. SPACE/SERVICE: Ginza looks like at any minute they could slide the tables to the perimeter of the room and turn the place into a dance club. They would kick out any uncool looking folks over age twenty five. I give Ginza credit for making a suburban strip mall restaurant not look like a suburban strip mall restaurant. Cool square white plates. Fast friendly service. I did notice that employees far outnumbered the diners on a Saturday evening. POST: Ginza is a place I'll have to go it alone in the future. They lost my wife with the mediocre teriyaki dish. I'm no expert on sushi but I didn't get sick so that must mean it was good (sarcasm). NETFLIX: Jiro Dreams of Sushi - rent this on Netflix now! Great doc. movies.netflix.com/WiMov…

I have only had delivery but am very impressed! For a little place in the suburbs, it's affordable and better than expected. It's not the best sushi I've ever had and will go someplace else for a night out, but always very happy to eat this. The portion sizes are generous with the sashimi and the rolls aren't obnoxious in size.

This place is kind of hit or miss for me. Sometimes I'm really pleased with the sushi and other times I'm really disappointed. I've ordered a different variety of their specialty rolls over numerous visits and many of them taste the same. However, the standbys (California roll, tuna roll, etc.) are good and I like their bento boxes for lunch. Service is the same as the food - hit or miss. Try the brown rice sushi - yummy!

Walked into Ginza on Friday, December 28th, 2012 with my wife looking forward to a sushi lunch. We've been to Ginza numerous times in the past, and have enjoyed every experience...before Friday. On Friday, we walked in and were told there would be a 20 minute wait...BECAUSE THEY RAN OUT OF MENUS!!! No kidding...they told us they ran out of menus. They told us this as we stood in front of a foot-and-aa-half of menus. There were plenty of open tables. There was plenty of staff members working. This was our last trip to Ginza. It's sad that one of our favorite restaurants doesn't want our business, or our money. We went down the road to the Cheesecake Factory for lunch. We were told there would be a 20 minute wait, but we could eat at the bar if we liked. We ate at the bar...they had plenty of menus. We will never return to Ginza. You've lost our business. You could have avoided this by being truthful and honest with us. I am not sure of the exact reason why your restaurant didn't/couldn't serve us at the time, but I am 100% positive it wasn't because of a lack of available menus. When you treat your customers like idiots they will not return. I used to recommend your restaurant to everyone I knew. No longer will I do that.

6/1/2011 - OK, I have to get on here for an update. I go to Ginza usually once a week now. I have to agree with Kara D. I don't know how anyone could give this place a negative review. The staff is always extremely kind and personable. They always work as fast as they can to get everything out to you as quickly as possible. Their food is amazing. So, please disregard the few the may have been having a bad day when they wrote there reviews because this place is truly unique and worth going to regularly if you live in the area. 6/25/2010 - I ordered a specialty roll called the Jason Roll. Order it... It is like heaven landed in your mouth. I ordered it because it was my first name and I am glad I did. IT WAS AMAZING!!!! I haven't had anything like it,,,,,, EVER! What more can I say about Ginza except Outstanding!!! It's upbeat and trendy atmosphere is a close second to the chef's new ideas infused into his sushi. The staff are very well trained, quick and very personable. Cudo's to the owner because this Sushi Bar is something different, something special. If you are in the Milwaukee area and you like sushi you have to try this place. And like I said above, if you want a piece of the best Sushi you will every have in your life,,, ORDER THE JASON ROLL!

Large selection and some unique rolls with prices that seem fair. Some of the rolls have more veg than fish or protein but they are priced as such in most cases. We will be back. They have a large drink menu.

i only really ate sushi in california when visiting my sisters because I didn't think there was quality sushi in wisconsin but Ginza proved me wrong! A little pricey but most sushi places are. The inside has a cool decor and the staff is very nice. The best thing is that i actually leave full! if you haven't eaten there yet, check it out !

On a whim, I checked out the ratings for "Ginza" on here just to see what people have been saying. I am actually shocked that it has any bad reviews and feel compelled to give my input. My husband and I were thrilled that a sushi restaurant moved into Tosa, and frequent Ginza on a regular basis. I can honestly say that I have never had a bad experience there. The atmosphere is great, the food is always delicious (on par with several other great sushi spots in the Milwaukee area), and they have some tasty saki mixed drinks. I've brought many family members from out-of-town, and everyone has loved it. I do think that they may be a bit overwhelmed lately after running a "groupon," but I feel that they always handle the large number of diners very well. Check it out! It gets better and better each time we go!

The sushi was decent, nothing mind blowing but not bad at all. I also got a teriyaki chicken bowl. Big portions, and big chunks of chicken too. A little too big. I like my chicken in smaller pieces, otherwise it doesn't have as much flavor.

The restaurant itself looks clean, modern, and comfortable. The staff we encountered were very friendly. I think there were 3 tables occupied and to get two rolls took 1/2 hour. Once the food finally arrived, it was pretty good. I can't put my finger on it, but we left happy with what we ate, but without feeling that we'd make a point to ever go back, even if we found ourselves in the area and looking for a place to eat. The restaurant was more than adequate, except for the slow service, but nothing stood out making me want more.

I live in California and spend about one week per month in Tokyo. At times it feels that finding good sushi in the Midwest can be as hard as finding a fish fry in Cali! Yet this place is excellent. The sake (salmon) has been consistently good on each of my 6-7 times here. The service is adequate, and the decor pleasant. I did order some expensive "in season" toro (fatty tuna) that was seriously sub-par. When I complained they agreed and gave me 50% off. I take colleagues from Japan here regularly and they enjoy it, and rave about the salmon.

The basic rolls (the alaskan and ninja) were fine. The more inventive (volcano, white swan, and mars) were mediocre. The mars was probably the best of those three. I don't know that I will be adding this to my sushi rotation, but I would really appreciate if other places in the area would offer delivery! If I worked close enough, I'm sure I'd eat here, but to go out of my way to get sushi here... it's just okay.

So I went today for a snack sized dinner at Ginza, I was seated immediately however I was not asked if I wanted something to drink, as I looked through the menu (pricey) about 5 minutes later a small glass of water was given but no question of what else I wanted to drink. 2 minutes later I waited for a server to come take my order, my order was a Appetizer -Naruto ($5) and hand roll - Alaska ($7). Total 10 minutes after I sat down (yes I do time these things) another table was filled with a couple, and then 3 minutes later and other table nearby me was seated with another couple. Gotten bored with the wait --- I'm guessing a long wait since its relatively busy, I decided texting with a friend, going through a few conversations about how I don't think I'm coming back here, few minutes later the 2 tables besides me were served their entree's and me...well my table was still empty as I sat texting and waiting and looking over to the neighboring tables besides me. I also saw the price for a 'soda/soft drink' was $1.25 for a 12oz. can.(or maybe I saw wrong) The portions of their food were rather small I noticed (ex a small sashimi was smaller than usual size), then my appetizer arrived. There were 5 pieces of the 'sushi', so I guessed it is $1 per piece since its worth $5. I finished that with no problem, it was ok. 4 minutes later my hand rolled dish came, size of my hand 6 small pieces, and 1 piece looked like it was gonna fall apart, and it did when I picked it up. Overall experience was rather slow and kinda bland. Total $12.73 plus $1 tip. NOT WORTH IT.

Finally, Tosa has some decent sushi! Reasonably priced, interesting specialty rolls, and an ice-cold Sapporo is all I can ask for. Not as creative as Wasabi in Brookfield, but less expensive and still tasty. This is going into the regular rotation. Try the Wauwatosa Roll.

It was the second worse Sushi restaurant I have been to! Their prices were horribly High and their waiting staff was horrible! Oh, and traditionally, they give you hot green tea for free, and we had to pay for ours as well as refills on our soda. And, we had a coupon from Groupon.com and they really treated us like crap, when they gave us our bill! We left our "fortune" cookies there!

Not sure how long Ginza sushi has been open, but I noticed it recently while on a trip to Starbucks for some coffee. A few days later, I got a coupon for a free Spicy Tuna or California Roll in the mail and decided to try it out. The good thing about Ginza sushi was that the regular menu price for some rolls is comparable to what you would find in LA. The bad thing about Ginza sushi was that there was NO FISH to be found in my rolls! My boyfriend and I ordered the ninja roll (which is supposed to be stuffed with yellowtail fish) and the spicy tuna roll, as well as a shrimp tempura roll and a chicken curry dish that was on special. The meal was more than enough for the both of us, but my main complaint is that the filling for the sushi was full of tempura flakes as filler and there was absolutely no hint of yellowtail or tuna in either. I'm giving this place three stars just for the quality of their non-fish rolls- if you don't like raw fish, this is a great place to go. If you are looking for raw fish in your sushi, I'd look elsewhere.

No.

Large selection and some unique rolls with prices that seem fair. Some of the rolls have more veg than fish or protein but they are priced as such in most cases. We will be back. They have a large drink menu.

Best sushi in the Milwaukee area! Prices are great... Never had a bad roll. Best california roll I've ever had.

Hope they enjoy!

i only really ate sushi in california when visiting my sisters because I didn't think there was quality sushi in wisconsin but Ginza proved me wrong! A little pricey but most sushi places are. The inside has a cool decor and the staff is very nice. The best thing is that i actually leave full! if you haven't eaten there yet, check it out !

We are regulars here. It is one of our favorites when it comes to sushi in the area. The staff is always friendly, and we can count on a consistently good roll here. We started with a Groupon, and now we are hooked. LOVE the Wauwatosa roll. The Ginza is also very good.

Tried this place out with a groupon and was very pleased with the sushi. Got the rock shrimp and 3 different rolls (wauwatosa, hurricane and ninja). Bought another groupon and planning on going back very soon. Service was good and the place was clean.

Best sushi this side of the Mississippi! This place is equal to or better than the places downtown minus the price! The wait staff is awesome, no lines & quality food for all!

  • Daniel P.

The sushi was decent, nothing mind blowing but not bad at all. I also got a teriyaki chicken bowl. Big portions, and big chunks of chicken too. A little too big. I like my chicken in smaller pieces, otherwise it doesn't have as much flavor.

  • Jennifer P.

    (4)
  • Becky D.
