Fiddleheads Coffee Cafes

A coffee shop by river. How quaint. It's not the best coffee you'll ever have or the best food. But it is a relaxing respite from your worries. Grab the iced Americano, a chocolate chip pumpkin muffin, maybe a sandwich and go sit outside in a shaded courtyard by the Milwaukee River. I did for a few hours. It's so much better than stuffing yourself into a Starbucks. There's plenty of room and outlets inside, too, if that's your thing.
Fiddleheads is still a great place to go for coffee. My family likes to sit outside and chit chat while people watching.. we do this nearly three times a week. The cedarburg location is great for us since it is so close to my house. Over the past year or two, fiddleheads has changed from freshly made sandwiches (mostly cold, non-heated sandwiches), to only hot sandwiches. The reason this bothers me is because they are all prepackaged now, and all the server has to do is heat the sandwich up. I am sure they heat them because they would be soggy from sitting there all day. They really skimp on the ingredients now. I ordered a grilled cheese and could barely taste the cheese, you would never know there were apricots on the apricot chicken if it wasn't in the name, I could go on about all of the sandwiches here. Honestly, the price is too high (over $8 for a small sandwich on a small roll with not much on it), and the quality has gone down, but hey.. it's still good food. I still go there to eat regardless of the decline in quality.
First time Fiddleheading. My gf wanted to check it out since it seemed like a cute little & local coffee shop & company that we had not yet been to. It's sort of like Collectivo, or even Panera, but with a smaller menu and less locations. I got a chocolate with strawberry mocha and my gf got a similar mocha drink. We both enjoyed our drinks. For food, I ordered a glorified turkey sandwich(it was actually terrific) and my gf got a chipotle chicken sandwich. The prices are a little high. $28 for two sandwiches and drinks seems a little expensive to me but I guess you're paying for the location(it's right off the river) and the upscale coffee shop it's trying to represent. I like the fact that they have outdoor seating and I also like the whole, "it looks like a house" motif. They have enough seating indoors as well. The menu is simple and not too overwhelming. I'm sure I'll come back here at some point, I just won't drive out of my way for it.

I would probably go 3.5 if I could. The place is nice. It is a bar with food. The food is international and fusion-y. The owner is present and walks the rooms seeming to want to meet everyone and answer any questions and explain menu items. He does a good job at that. The drinks were very pricey, like downtown Chicago pricey, but they were impeccably prepared and served. The choices of liquors was impressive too. The menu held much promise but in the end the food was just OK. Nothing jumped off the plate with flavors or spices. I got the feeling it was going to really be a fun bite, but wound up falling flat. We ordered four different apps and five different meals. The Momo appetizers were dry. The 5 spice ribs dish we had was probably the best, the lamb the worst. Some in our party thought their meals were good, the ones I tasted were just OK. In the end, we all had a great time together and were treated to some great drinks and service. I am good with the 4 star rating though because this feels like a work in process. That and the effort put in to the place makes me have hope.
I came here with a few colleagues for work and we all were very happy with what we had. Everything tasted great, everyone was friendly. We let the waiter kind of drive a it since there are so many ways to have things. I can't wait to go back and try more stuff. I think this place will be around for a while and I plan to stop in for lunch since they will now be open for it! Yummy!
I've been here twice now- once with girlfriends and once with my parents. Both times, service was very attentive and professional, which I appreciate. They knew the menu and how to explain the various items--especially all those delish sauces that I love so much. The atmosphere was cozy and facilitated good conversation and I liked that the owner was hands on and attentive to his customers as well. On my first visit, it was my friend's birthday and they brought out a basket of various Nepalese bracelets for her to choose from after our dinner. How unique and thoughtful! I loved that. (We still we're fatties and got dessert though like the good girls we are) My only real qualm and why it is not 5 stars, is based on the pricing for the dish sizes. The tidbits are definitely named tidbits for a reason. Very small and almost awkward to share among 3 people, even though we ordered 4 of them. (again, thank goddess for dessert) I loved their $15 bottle of wine night Monday as well as their Monday MoMo deal with 10 momos- OOUUU they are the best- just get them- whether its Monday or not. I enjoyed them baked so they are a healthier choice than fried but still more crispy than boiled. (Love the 3 choices though!) All in all, I grew up in Theinsville-Mequon and the towns have desperately been needing some cool, innovative spots such as this with atmosphere and menu options that entice. Now go get some momos Northshore!

By far the beat coffee shop. Super nice staff. Make amazing drinks for you. Also being able to see them make the coffee and bread is awesome. They so need more tables and outlets.
After driving by this place for a couple years, I finally decided to see what it was about. I walked in to the smell of fresh baked bread. I don't know about you, but this is one of the best smells ever. It made me immediately want to pull-out some olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and parmesan and start dipping. I had to buy a loaf for later. The inside has several small tables to enjoy a drink and a bakery item and watch the cars go by. This is the hub of all baked goods for the Fiddleheads franchise. Lots of activity behind the counter from breadsmiths, pastry makers, baristas, and free smells that would rival any Jimmy Johns. I wouldn't make a stop to sit out a table and work or chat with friends. If you want to do that head south a few blocks and hit the Fiddleheads coffee house. However, if you want a brief stint in heaven through the nose of fresh baked bread, make the stop. And don't forget to take some home. Great stuff!
Ah, yes the second Fiddleheads in Thiensville just a few blocks down from the original location. I've always wondered why they would open up a second location. This location is all about the bread to buy and has a more industrial look with the coffee roasting for all the stores and packages going on in the back section. The place smells of freshly roasted coffee and freshly baked bread. I've picked up loafs in the afternoon where they do half price loafs and stopped in several times for coffee in the morning. Nice, new building and parking lot is a great compliment to their other location.

Great prices. Food is always good.
So after a day of un-packing in our new place, my gf and I decided to drive around an area near where we're living and wanted to grab a bite. We initially intended on going to the B-1 Burgers place but for some reason they were closed(we pulled up at 7:30 so that was a bit strange...) I had driven by Skippy's once before but didn't stop in. When we drove by it this time, we decided to eat there as we both thought it looked quaint but homey at the same time. When you walk in, there are only two tables but a handful of bar seating. We grabbed the 2nd and last table. I'll take the word of the previous Yelper in that there is a back room with couches and pool tables, but we didn't venture back there. We did see people go in and out of there, but for all we knew, it could have been a torture room as there was a lot of loudness coming from there. Suffice it to say, the food was really good. We started out with an order of Mac N Cheese Bites. I ordered a butter burger and my gf got the Skippy's burger with sour cream and chive fries. All was very tasty and well priced. We would go back again at some point, but there are other bars/restaurants in the area that we want to explore first.
Being the right in "downtown" Theinsville this is a sports bar with a small front yet has some couches in the back with a pool table. This place is home to lots of regulars that definitely give you a stare as you walk in. Getting past that they have an extensive food menu for being a bar. This place is always crowded for Sunday game days with its several TVs. The overall atmosphere is a bit towny compared to the more frequently-visited neighbor of Remingtons.

Nice, clean, and relatively new location that always has friendly staff. It's a Culver's so you know what to expect and the layout looks similar to the other locations. Overall, a good place for a butter burger that is better than the other fast food joints in the area.
Well this place gives a good price for burgers and baskets. Sometimes the burgers are awfully flakey and thin, but other times they are nice juicy and thick. It seems that the flavor of the day is turtle A LOT! Not sure if this is a Culver's thing or a Wisconsin thing but it's a repeating flavor. They offer some other choices like chicken sandwiches and tenders, but the burgers are the best.
Clean, great burgers and fries, and cheap. Custard is great, especially their turtle sundae

Cousins Subs

This location is very clean, has parking, and friendly staff. I can't say too much about a Cousin's yet this is my preferred location when I am in the area due to the above items. The staff is friendly and very quick with your order. There is always parking right in front with their signs reserved for Cousin's customers. Definitely worth checking out if you are in the area and want a quick, delicious sandwich.
Plenty of parking and seating available. The dining room could use an update. The thing I don't really like about cousins is how long it takes them to make even the simplest sandwiches. 5 minutes to make a ham, cheese and mayo? What are they doing back there?? Prices are always higher at cousins than subway. Customer service is average.
This Cousins Subs is a joke. The cashier said she is still in training. There is a crazy old woman working on subs and one competent guy. I ordered a 7.5 inch Chicken Cheddar Deluxe and it took them 15 minutes to make with 2 other guests here. Speed your shit up and make the subs in the order in which they were placed

Prime Minister Family Restaurant

The food is good but the restaurant feels like a cemetary at times. I go to the Prime Minister occasionally to enjoy their famous omelettes and I have never seen so many elderly people there. I'll get there someday I guess but I don't always enjoy the scene that it is. Service is always been friendly and efficient and the prices are very reasonable however its only three stars in my book.
We've been going in almost weekly for the chicken taco salad. It's quick and fresh. For the most part we get a really nice waitress, but there are a couple crabby ones. More so an older lady that does he checkout.
Terrible customer service. Ordered dinner at 6:52 for carry out, was told it was going to take 20-25 minutes. Showed up at the resturant 25 minutes later and was told that it was just a little bit longer, that's not a problem so I took a seat. Looked around the resturant and saw only 2 other customers I'm the whole resturant...waited for 15 minutes and asked the hostess how much long..she all the sudden said.."right now" and went in the back...did not come back for another 20 minutes when the food was ready...I asked if it was normal to wait over an hour for a carry out order and she seemed surprised..no apologies, no discount, no eye contact. Awful, awful service...

East Sun Chinese Restaurant

Reviews:
From the outside, the restaurant looks like it went out of business. I could actually see paint chips flying off the facade of the building. I hesitated and almost decided not to go inside, but all of the good reviews convinced me to continue on through the doors. The restaurant looks like it was decorated in 1973 and then was never updated. We sat away from the restroom because I could definitely smell something subtle and, not so fresh. I tried not to look too close at the busted lanterns hanging from the ceiling or the matted, red carpeting. I tried really hard to imagine this place as it was when they first opened their doors. It was probably a fancy place to be at one time. The food was pretty good. The food looked incredible and then after a couple of bites, not so much. The sesame chicken would have been really good, but they use dark meat, which has a lot of fat. I want to be able to eat a whole bite of food without having to pull knots of fat out of my mouth. The fried rice was super, as were the eggrolls. The hot and sour soup was way too sweet. The waitstaff seemed like they were working with family and they really seemed to appreciate our business and they were very attentive. The staff was so nice and I wish the overall experience was as good as the service. It looks like they have a setup for a weekday buffet. I could definitely see building a take out relationship with this restaurant, if only I lived closer. If the food was perfection, I could have looked past the ambience.
I was very disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. On the outside the place looks like it has been out of business for sometime. The service was pleasant enough at first but as soon as our appetizer came it was nothing but disappointment from that point on. The appetizers were crab rangoons and egg rolls. When I bit into my crab rangoon all I got was a mouthful of cream cheese, there was no crab to be found. I ripped open a few of the other rangoons and there was no crab in any of them. When confronted about this the waitress made an excuse that they dont put much crab in the mix because apparently some people would complain that they did not like crab or were vegetarians. I shouldn't have to explain why that is absurd. My party ate a total of 1 and 1/2 of the 6 rangoons from the order. The egg rolls tasted of soggy cabbage and not much else. When my friends entree came (Beef and broccoli) it looked nothing like expected and tasted very bland. My friend ate less than half of that and all three of us ended up sharing the one order that turned out okay (beef hunan). While getting ready to pay, one of my party again complained about the rangoons and beef and broccoli; not understanding that we at very least wanted a discount for the food we had to flat out say we didn't think it was reasonable to pay for something that wasn't what was promised. The waitress then got offended and spoke even less audible english and concluded that we ate 80% of the food (we didnt). We angrily agreed to pay and she walked away and sent the manager out and after more denying that we had cause to be upset about our food we just payed and left. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone.
This is one of our FAVORITE places for asian cuisine :). It is a small family restaurant which is well known in the area for great take out food. The inside could use some updates, but the quality of food and service definitely make up for the atmosphere. We make it a point to eat here at leats once a month. The eggrolls and fried rice are amazing! :)
