My co-worker brought in 2 boxes of specialty donuts from Sunrise Donuts today. (Bless his soul!) I only ate 1/4 of Boston Cream. Because I love custard cream, I would have loved to see a bit more custard cream in my 1/4 Boston Cream. (I should have squeezed all of the custard cream out of the remaining 3/4). Nonetheless, it tasted fresh and not too greasy. I love how smushy the donut was. I like Top Pot, Mighty-O, and Krispy Kreme, but it is nice to support local small businesses.

cant really add much. these guys are awesome. best donuts around. not too sweet, just right. become more popular at the office when you bring these in, lol.

Sunrise's doughnuts are way more delicious than Voodoo Doughnuts in Portland or Top Pot. Sure, it does not have the crazy selection of Captain Crunch and Oreo cookie doughnuts or Seahawk cake doughnuts but the doughnuts they offer are top quality, fresh and delicious. I don't want to pay $2 for a pretty doughnut. I'd rather have a delicious one, it is a bonus that it is only a $1. There coffee is even better than Starbucks. My wife enjoys their iced white mochas made with beans roasted by Caffe D'arte. The only downside is that they are closed on Sunday and Mondays but even the owners need to rest. Pros: Delicious and fresh doughnuts; friendly owners; on my way to work Cons: Closed on Sunday and Monday; my risk of diabetes and stroke have increased dramatically, but that is offset that I get to walk to work every morning.

When im satisfied with the product, and service was courteous. I cant find myself taking stars away. I grabbed a maple donut (tasted very fresh) and an Americano (well done) and i was on my way. I was satisfied.

Way better since the new owners came in. This place is actually open predictable hours. :) Our family universally likes the donuts better than top pot. Best donut is the buttermilk bar available on Fridays only.

My wife and I love this place. Caroline and Terrence are very friendly owners who make Sunrise Bakery feel like I'm going to grandmas (although there young). Donuts are light, crisp, and full of flavor as opposed to heavy and "bread like "at top pot. My favs are apple fritter, jalapeno colache, bacon maple bar, and the crullers. My wife likes the glazed old fashion with sprinkles. I think we are officially called regulars now...

Plain and simple. Good donuts and coffee. Shop is small so don't expect to sit down but worth the drive to go get a dozen to start the weekend off with family or taking it to the office to receive high praise.

It took me forever to get here for the first time considering i live about a 3 minute drive away. It just never happens on a weekday as I am always on the bus to school in the morning, and on the weekends we always just go straight to lunch. Finally, the day of my Saturday morning final, as a reward, I stop by for some donuts on my way home. They were fresh, tasty, and reasonably priced. It's probably a good thing that getting there is inconvenient for me!

The best donuts I ever had so far! The blueberry donuts and the buttermilk donuts are my favorites!

  • Yuki D.

I grew up in Texas getting donuts on the weekends from awesome little family-owned stores.. and I go to school in Austin where Ken's ( yelp.com/biz/kens-doughn… ) is my favorite place .. anyways, these donuts definitely measure up! I've had the old-fashioned glazed and maple, and blueberry cake donut and all were awesome. Lattes? This place is awesome - I even got a little heart design! Customer service is important and of both times I've been here the people were great. I even got a free donut today!

I had been doing an all-nighter, and decided to finally try Sunrise Donuts since it opens super early in the morning and I was in need of a cheap breakfast/snack. I came in around 6 a.m. I bought a chocolate ring donut, and a cute mini glazed raspberry filled donut. They were both very delicious! I could tell they were definitely fresh, they were so soft. The chocolate icing wasn't as hard as normal icing is after being set out. They were very good donuts! The customer service was really good too. A young lady greeted me and was really kind and helpful when I had questions about the donuts. It was a nice little shop with a good atmosphere. Go for it!

  • Abby B.

This is the best of the best of donuts!! The owners are extremely friendly and it's obvious they love their job. The cruller puffs are to die for (Friday's and Saturday's only folks!). They also make amazing lattes, perfect to go with any of their delicious donuts. I always go for a white glazed cake (great texture and flavor!) with either coconut, sprinkles, or chopped peanuts on top.

  • Jen B.

Donuts are really good but I'm not a fan of their chocolate glaze.

  • Scott W.

What do I like about this place, it's a Mom & Pop shop. Excellent donuts at a reasonable price, I won't name names, but a dozen donuts does not need to cost $15, their prices are reasonable here, and their donuts are delicious. If you want to pay $15 a dozen, go for it, I still do from time to time. I cannot say enough about the the Husband & Wife team here, super nice, and striving really hard to make a name for their little donut shop. Give them a shot, but go early because I have seen them sell out before.

Today was my last day at my now former workplace. Sad? Yes. I wanted to show my gratitude so I headed to Sunrise Donuts. Occasionally, there would be donuts from Sunrise to enjoy on some dreary weather morning at work. The sun is shining today so I knew a donut along with the sun would perk people up. The location is a bit haphazard. It is right by the on ramp to 520, so traffic is a bit hectic in the morning rush hours turning into here as well as getting out. Parking there though was a breeze. Sunrise is essentially a donuts and coffee place. They have a modest selection of baked goodness. Prices for single donuts range from $.99 to $1.39. I decided to get a baker's dozen to save a bit, though the pricing is not clear. There are three prices. $9.50, 10.50 and $13.50. Was not too clear on the pricing when it was told to me, so I went with option 1. I think the priciest option meant selecting all of the premium (larger) donut items. Anyways, I got several cake donuts in different flavors along with four maple bars and a glazed donut. I tried the maple bar and glazed donut and they were both very soft and excellent. Comparing it to Krispy Kreme is fair, but the selection is not as good here I think. My coworkers were delighted by the unexpected morning treat. The funny thing is that one of my coworkers had the same idea in mind and brought in a box of donuts from Sunrise as well! I guess we were thinking on the same wavelength this morning. Seeing it was my last day, I had to have another one, so I took a twisted donut which was also tasty. Suffice to say, I was running on sugar this morning after eating three donuts in a short time span. Overall, Sunrise Donuts make some great donuts. Though I would like it better if I did not have to turn into swarms of traffic to get to it.

I've now been here twice (it took almost a year to work up the nerve to go again). My coworkers and I were excited as we've been going to all of the coffee and bakeries in Redmond and the reviews for this place were so good! I don't understand the ratings. The doughnuts we had were bland. The apple fritter was greasy. I didn't even want to finish mine. Then the coffee... eh. Would much rather go to Top Pot.

  • BiIll J.

Delicious fun little donut shop. I went really really early. The donuts were fun and quirky, with flavors like maple with bacon bits on them. They were also really really soft. Biting into them was almost like cotton candy with how light the dough was. I think this place is cool mainly because the product is high quality but it isn't that expensive. You can really tell everything there is homemade.

  • Ryan J.

My favorite donut place in the world, have been eating here since 1992 when Big Time Pizza was a few doors down and the owners barely spoke a lick of english, after you would order a donut, they would just ask "and?" every time which was always humorous. Sunrise just makes perfect donuts, I love their bismarks, cake donuts and especialy french cruellers. Unfortunately I moved away from Redmond in 2007 but come back to Sunrise at least once per year when visiting family or for work. Last month I stopped in to find that it appears there is a new owner, the donuts are the same but the french cruellers were gone, the employee said they were hoping to start making them again (huh?). Looking forward to going back in December and will update. I don't get why people liked Top Pot or Krispy Kreme when you have a lighter flufier offering here. Just wish I could find a donut place like Sunrise in Texas...

    (4)
  • Jennifer M.

No longer "delicately made". I really wanted to support the new owners since my family and I been happily patronizing Sunrise for years and over three sets of owners. But after multiple tests, I'm afraid the lovely, heavenly light dough with perfect ratios of icing and delicate glaze that made Sunrise so unique and unforgettable is gone for good. I hope the larger format and heavier dough works for them, it's just not for us. Even the once irresistible crueller puffs are now stiff with a too thick glaze. The lattes are still tasty but the prettiest espresso art in town is gone.

The best doughnut in Redmond. My favorite is the maple bacon bar . The staff is super friendly.

Bought a dozen Kolaches this morning (only because I couldn't get more) and gave them to my team for breakfast. I clearly did not buy enough! Everyone loved them. If you are from TX, this is the place to go for good Kolaches. No fruit/cream cheese yet though. Only sausage. This tiny little shop needs a bigger oven! Well worth the trip and if you want some, get there early!

  • Samantha W.

My fiancee and I used to love coming here. We went today and we were both really disappointed. The coffee is still really good. However, we used to come here for the donuts and now they are just mediocre and the variety is smaller. Not as good as Top Pot, better than a supermarket, I guess. Still, it's not the kind of place to go out of your way for or wake up early in the morning to get the best selection. It's too bad, the donuts used to be phenonmenal.

  • Ewa C.

I am out of town and needed to get a dozen donuts - I found Sunrise on yelp and decided to give it a try...Oh my...the donuts were delicious and so was the Latte - very affordable too...I am sad I just found it now when we are about to leave otherwise this would have been my daily morning coffee stop

I go to Top Pot weekly, but I have to say that this place is... better?! It's located in a dingy strip mall right off the highway, and even though it's right next to my bus stop for work, I avoided it because it looked kind of scary from the outside. But today I had a hankering for donuts, and I went inside... It's pleasant inside, nice atmosphere, clean, a pair of nice tables and one booth. The dude was friendly, and at a little before noon they only had a few types of donuts left. "Frosted twist and plain cake, please." Plain cake doughnuts are my barometer for a doughnut shop's quality. Top Pot fails there, with an overly sweet, overly dense mess of a cake doughnut, but make up for it with their old-fashioneds. Sunrise, on the other hand, has a HEAVENLY cake donut! It has the perfect snap of light crispiness on the outside, and a moist, light, yet substantial interior. Lightly sweet, not too much, letting the taste of the flour come through. PERFECTION. The twist was also delicious, with a hint of gooiness that makes risen doughnuts so tasty. It helped make my day. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

I don't like to make a public scene, but every time I bite into a Sunrise Donut or drink a Sunrise mocha I want to start yelling in parking lot about how insanely great they are. It's a crime to let people walk by unaware about this great experience. If you love donuts, Sunrise Donuts has to be on your bucket list. I am not a young man, I have had many, many donuts in my life. However, never before have I had a cinnamon spiral that melted in my mouth into a perfect mix of cinnamon, dough and sugar. This is not a superlative, it really melted. Like, how is that even possible? And the old fashioned buttermilk cake donut? How can an old fashioned buttermilk donut taste like spring? Okay, that was a superlative, but its hard to describe the fruit like flavor. Kind of citrus, kind of apple. In theory, I can imagine the milk and yeast creating that flavor, but up to this point every other baker in human history has destroyed that flavor. The espresso is not an after thought. The machine is kept perfectly clean, the shot glasses sparkle, and the coffee is Caffe D'Arte. The shots come out with a beautiful foam on top and the aroma is perfect. It is so easy to screw that up. That more than anything tells me they don't cut corners. So, if you see a guy jumping up and down in the parking lot trying to get you to go have a donut, you know I couldn't constrain myself. I feel like that time is coming. Please heed my request and go have a donut.

I've been here several times now and no matter what time I've gone--just after opening, just before closing or in between, the donuts have tasted fresh made. The maple bars are the best I've had and the regular donuts, cake or regular, are better than Top Pot, Mighty-O and way better than Krispy Kreme. And CHEAPER!!! Also, the service has always been incredibly friendly. I'm not a coffee drinker but everyone else raves about theirs. When I need a donut fix I go out of my way to go here.

Finally! A real donut shop! Why are you still reading the reviews, just go! I can't say enough good things about this place. My wife and I come from Texas where there's a donut shop on every corner. This place blows them all away. Yes, I'm sorry to the WA natives, it is also miles ahead of Top Pot in every way. The owners are super nice and easy to chat with, and it is obvious they are putting a lot of work in to this. The donuts are fresh, amazing, and I love the variety. They put their own touches on them and it just makes ya feel cozy. The decor and vibe in the shop itself are warm and inviting. I usually always grab my donuts to go, but this place makes me want to stick around, have some coffee, and relax. Theirs prices are very reasonable, and surprisingly low for what you get. THEY HAVE KOLACHES! That's it, game over. I haven't found another place that even knows what a kolache is, let alone sells them. This place is becoming a Saturday morning tradition for my wife and I. Even if it wasn't located in the same town as us, we'd still make the drive. Seriously, I'm not sure why you're still reading this!

You know a place is good when they regularly sell out their stock before the dew is off the grass. Managed to get here JUST as they were closing up one morning, and I've been dreaming of returning ever since. Oh why must I love sleeping in so much? The people working there were very hospitable- I know, hospitable? It's a donuts shop! But it's true. Also, what a difference between these freshly made donuts and the schlock we've grown accustomed to from QFC and Hostess. No comparison, these knock the others out in every respect. They ended up just giving me the remaining 4 or so donuts after I bought a couple. Wouldn't expect free food each time, but I'll certainly return. Eventually.

One of the best donut shoppes I've ever eaten at! I'm a maple icing fiend, and I've never tasted better. Also the first time I tried the bacon topped long john -- a truly magnificent combination!

Best donut shop on the Eastside! Great little donut shop, the owners are super friendly and local.

This is the donut where people who don't eat donuts, eat donuts! The apple fritter is made with actual apple chunks and is very fresh. Try finding that and tasting that anywhere else. That is, of course, if you can get one. They can run out quickly because they are that good. So, if they're out like they were @ 8:30 this morning, get a maple bar and you might be just as satisfied. Great service, always friendly and kinda low-key. A great little shop with no-frills...and good coffee too.

I don't eat a lot of donuts, but those I have in the past have what I call the "guilt taste" - that weird aftertaste that leaves you wanting to brush your teeth. I don't know what it is - the oil, possibly - but it's been a consistent thing.... until I had a Sunrise donut. Not only are these donuts delicious but there's no guilty aftertaste. Now they just need to make them calorie free!

I came here during the weekend of my Cousin's Wedding in Bellevue (happy travels, Eddy!) Some quick points about how great it is: 1. They serve Caffe D'Arte (!) for CHEAP. For those not in the know, Caffe D'Arte beans are among the top grinds served in Seattle, and to find it for their prices (12oz Latte for under $2.50) is crazy. 2. Friendly, friendly service. I always feel good when I support a mom & pop business with awesome people that serve well and are always cheerful and polite. It only seems to be run by that couple, though, so when I went early in the morning on Saturday, it was slightly busy. Patience was rewarded though! 3. The donuts, the donuts, the donuts. The maple bar melted in my mouth without a heavy sugar aftertaste or sinking feeling in my stomach. Refreshing, light, and crisp - way better than Krispy Kreme or anything I have near home. 5 stars for a great experience!

  • Leanna E.

My husband and I love walking to this donut shop in the morning before heading off to work. The donuts are easily the best in the area and you can't beat the sweet people who run the place. Love the atmosphere. Great coffee too!! We had tried maple bacon bars at a few other places and have been disappointed. Sunrise bacon maple bars totally deliver though! So worth it. Don't waste your time at any other donut place!

TIP: to make sure you get your donuts, go to their website and pre-order them. I like plain donuts so with that, I like: - blueberry glazed. They're soft, airy, and not too much glazing(it's half dipped). - sugar twisted is to die for. They're soft, airy, and the sugar doesn't melt(at least not for a long time). The owners are very nice and it's family owned! It's a very small shop so they don't have the capacity to make more when they run out. It's a balance of making enough but not making more if they don't sell(losing money). I understand the business reasons but as a customer I do understand wanting to buy donuts when I want them. It's tough...

  • Seattle S.

Three words: the very best. My favorites are the crueller puffs on Friday and Saturday. Divine. My dog prefers the blueberry--which actually have blueberries in them (not just a flavored glaze). Occasional specialties like blueberry muffins are superb. Donuts are all made on site by the folks behind the counter who also own the shop. This is a friendly, comfortable, neighborhood experience. But darn--they are so popular now, they sometimes sell out early. You really need to give this place a try---but beware: there is no going back to those all-made-of-the-same dough guys.

This is my family's favorite donut place! The owners are always friendly and the donuts are always fresh. A nice selection and always tasty. The place is small, with one booth and a few stools along the window. But that's perfect for my husband and daughter, who regularly visit this place on Saturday and sit down to have a father-daughter moment over donuts before bringing home a few for the rest of the family. My only complaint is that they aren't open on Sundays, which for some reason seems to be when I'm craving donuts about half the tiime.

Cute family owned coffee and donut shop within walking distance of my home. I have had iced coffee here several times and really liked the flavor and quality of the coffee. Their donuts are pretty good too :)

(Full, up-front disclosure: We stopped by because my girlfriend's good friends work here. I'll do my best to be honest, but take this review with a grain of salt... and a bite of donut.) Donuts here are very good to excellent. They're light, fluffy, and the chocolate/maple/glaze seem fresher than your average donut shop. My favorites were the blueberry and the chocolate-frosted ones, but the filled donuts were surprisingly good, too (I'm not usually a fan). I was a little disappointed they were sold out of my favorite, a cake donut with chocolate and peanuts, but they had all the other standards. I live in Los Angeles now, and I guess I forgot how much good coffee's up here in the PNW. Donuts aside, with Caffe D'arte beans and Ghiradelli chocolate syrup, the espresso and coffee are good enough reasons on their own to make a pit-stop here on your morning commute. And drinks are cheap - compare the price of a latte to anywhere nearby, and you'll be impressed. The atmosphere ain't bad, either. It's not a blindingly lit, linoleum-and-plastic place like your Winchell's or Yum Yum stores. It's high-ceilinged and full of nice wood beams. It feels refreshingly cozy, a welcome change from a mass-produced chain. And service is excellent: I was there for about thirty minutes, and they were some of the friendliest shopkeepers I've seen. An extra donut here and there, a nice chat, nice words about the restaurant next door - they're good folks all around. Which should make you feel just a tad better about chowing down on that fatty, sugary deliciousness. "Donuts. Is there anything they can't do?"

I regularly stop here for 2 dozen donuts for work. The office favorites are the jelly and cream filled, blueberry, maple bars and old-fashioned. They're all good - light and fluffy texture, crispy crust, freshly made, warm and melt in your mouth. The owners are always cheerful. It's a pleasure stopping here, and I'm a very popular person at work on donut day. Getting in and out of the parking lot can be tricky, but traffic will eventually clear. Just put a donut in your hand, and you won't mind the wait.

Based on the reviews here, I went out of my way to visit this place this morning. I got there at 10:30am and found the shop closed with a sign on the door saying "we ran out of donuts". What the... ? It's a donut shop, out of donuts, at 10:00 on a Saturday morning?? Modern technology has allowed other donut shops to rise above these inventory management snafus - they make more! Anyway. One star may seem a little harsh considering I haven't eaten their food. But what does it matter how good the donuts are if I can't reliably determine when I might be able to buy one? Maybe it's a fine place if you happen to drive by at 7am... but I'll never know.

  • Lemonleen C.

Best doughnuts ever. I love the softness of Krispy Kremes but find them way too sweet, especially the ones with chocolate frosting on top of the glaze. Sunrise doughnuts have that same light-as-air texture but without the overwhelming sweetness. Their old-fashioned are lightly crunchy and their glazed melt in your mouth. The only problem is they run out by 11 a.m. so if you don't get there early you might have to settle for just a maple bar (awesome) or an apple fritter (awesomer).

    (5)
  • Francesca L.

Yum! First time I've been here and it didn't disappoint. The blueberry donut was light, fluffy and sweet. Amazing. The glazed donut was uniquely crispy - a bit disconcerting at first but I grew to really like it. The woman behind the counter was pleasant and didn't scoff at the sad assortment of change I'd gathered from my coin box to purchase these lovely donuts! Now I know where to get a morning pick-me-up on days I have some extra time before work.

  • Mike W.

Discovered this place as an alternative to Krispy Kreme. KK does one doughnut well, but Sunrise does them ALL well. Usually an Apple Fritter wouldn't interest me, but theirs are The Bomb. Awesome! We bought 2 dozen Fresh doughnuts this morning for a business meeting. After all . . . we are Fresh Consulting! :-P

Allways order donuts from here when it is my turn to bring breakfast for my kids' high school swim team. The most friendly staff and great donuts.

I would give this place more stars. Their donuts are very good. HOWEVER- I drove up this morning at 9:30 to get some donuts to bring to work and they were CLOSED because they've sold out of donuts. A donut place that sells out of donuts before 10 AM on a Friday morning is just ridiculous.

A trek to Redmond Town Center brought me by this hidden little donut shop Saturday morning. I stopped by ~0930 & a bright shinning face greeted me. The pastry case is not overwhelming with varieties (Bavarian & jelly filled, glazed, plain, maple frosted bars, maple frosted old-fashion, apple fritters (they are flat...)... and 2 or 3 more.... Those that I tasted were yummy in their fluffy freshness, somewhere between carvinal fry bread & grandma's donuts. All pastries were priced less than $1.00. Coffee wasn't an option for me this morning, but I am sure it will be as the shop sits right near the 520 on ramp & dog park trips are bound to bring me back...

So I've never had fresh donuts or any donut that tasted this good! Well I'm new to the area, and I figured that there has to be a place other than KK or TP, so I've been doing some research and reading reviews and waiting to make the trip, I finally did! At 5:45am today I got three donuts... Cinnamon and sugar twist, maple bar and buttermilk cake donut. So much wow! Haha just wow, so good. Well worth the wait, well worth the drive at 5am, plan on going back once a week during my days off. Thanks for making my tummy happy! And my day off made!

I used to love this place, it is truly sad how it's changed. The donuts once were well-textured, the maple bars were the best I'd ever had. We stopped by a few weeks ago and the texture was gone; these are all Krispy Kreme styles fluffs now. If you like that, okay. But the toppings is what really took it away. The maple bars were pale with no discernible maple flavor, "it's just suger" as my son noted. The blueberry fritter had no hint of blueberry (even though we could see berry nuggets). My kids loved this donut shop and they wouldn't even finish their donuts this time. I'm not sure what happened to this place but I miss the old shop.

I just moved to the area from LA, which has horrible breakfast options. This place was great. Reminds me of the small breakfast cafes in Montreal. I had a donut and ham and cheese croissant. They were excellent. Staff was good and value was outstanding. Be warned that there is extremely limited seating as it's more of a grab and go place. I'm fine with it but I can see others annoyed with this.

While in Seattle, I wanted to try another donut place aside from Top Pot. I picked up the Tiger Eye and the Maple Glazed Ring. My cousin had a chocolate chip and a maple bar. The donuts were light and fluffy which is good because no one likes a stale donut. It was definitely a fresh batch and that is the best way to enjoy a donut. This place is pretty busy. It looks family run and I love small mom and pop shops. I enjoyed the Tiger Eye. It is a yeast glazed donut with chocolate accents. I wasn't too found of the maple glazed ring, probably because of the maple flavor. The donuts are decently priced. I would probably come here again if I was in the area and wanted a donut.

Holy fried amazingness! Hubby and I came here for an anniversary breakfast and its everything we hoped it would be and more! We got a dozen assorted but couldn't wait to get home to try the cruller! Omg a pocket of doughy air that's Heaven! They have Caffe Darte coffee so they know you need to have good coffee to go with their amazing donuts! Can't wait to get home and try the rest! And we will be back!

  • Cory H.

The cruller puffs were pretty amazing. Fluffy and airy and sweet. My wife is not a big doughnut fan but she said those reminded her of beignets (which she loves). For doughnut fans, go for the bacon maple bars! These are really, really good - the best I've had. They also had three different varieties for fritters, which I appreciated, though I was a little disappointed in them (I like my fritters to be a little crispy). I am definitely going to stop at Sunrise whenever I drive by.

Donuts and coffee - two of my favorite things, plus friendly service! I've been meaning to stop in here for months and finally did - I found an assortment of fresh, delicious donuts and Caffe D'arte coffee which I love. Bacon maple bars, which aren't for me but looks amazing, are available T-Th and French crullers, which are for me!, are available Saturdays. This is a great little place with a quiet and friendly feel - I'll be back.

Freshest donuts I've ever tasted in my life! I ordered the cake donut with sprinkles and holy cow the donut was SUPER moist and tasted so fresh. Doesn't have a "weird" after taste in mouth like other donuts. The maple glazed old fashioned donut was good too, but I definitely prefer the cake donut with sprinkles :) Their "regular" donuts are only $0.95/each and the fancier ones like the fritters are about $1.25/each. I got their around 9:45am on a Wednesday morning and they were almost sold out of donuts. They're that good.

It doesn't get much better than Sunrise. I've been here more times than I care to admit, but that's because, even when the day doesn't call for a donut, the espresso is outstanding (most of the time I get a 12oz. latte with half the usual dose of salted caramel syrup, but the coffee definitely doesn't need flavor to cover it up). Food highlights are the blueberry donuts, cruller puffs, bacon maple bars, and buttermilk bars. Colaches are great for a savory breakfast (think a Texas-style sausage roll). I also like the ham and cheese croissant. Service is friendly and quick, and the prices are amazing. It's much harder to go to Top Pot after coming here. Pro tip - donuts here disappear pretty fast (because they're really really good). Either come early for the best selection, or order online a day or more in advance for something specific.

These are just the best donuts in town - hands down. They are light and fluffy and always fresh. I smell them every morning when I walk the dog. It takes everything in me not to wander down the hill for sweet delicious donut treat. The staff is friendly and the coffee is also wonderful. Did I mention the prices? Such a great deal!

Always friendly, excellent donuts, and a surprisingly good cappuccino.

After a disappointing (and expensive) visit to Top Pot I found the best donuts in the Northwest. They even have tiger tails - and they're soft and fluffy and so freakin delicious. Super fresh. Don't miss this place donut lovers

The donuts in this little shop are fantastic. Light, fluffy and delicious. The crueler puffs they make on Fridays and Saturdays are incredible! If you stop in, make sure you try some. The shop is small, so there's not a lot of seating, but the donuts are well worth the trip. Place is clean, service is friendly, donuts are wonderful. Enjoy!

Yes, I have a little bit of a doughnut fetish, and I'm always on the prowl for something to satisfy my ever present sweet tooth. Enter Sunrise. I could smell the sweet goodness when I opened my car door. My heart fluttered immediately. Prices are fantastic, and the doughnuts? Yes. Light and fluffy glazed treats of sweet sweet yumminess! My cinnamon twist was so incredibly fresh and soft; despite my showing up late in the afternoon. I would definitely return.

Being from the East Coast, I simply can't resist the Pacific NW delicacy of the buttermilk bar when I see one. It's been years since I was first introduced to this seemingly impossible to find doughnut incarnation in Portland. I dream about them. And I practically squealed when I walked into Sunrise and saw them. This one was quite good: I'd prefer a denser doughnut - and this was a tad on the fluffy side for me - but it had a nice chew and sweet milky flavor. Love those tender little pockets of glaze. Can't say the same for the other varieties we tried...double chocolate looked promising but was ultimately pretty flavorless and ultra soft, no bite all. Cherry fritter that my son ordered had a cough syrupy look to it and was sweet/bland as well. Though there wasn't a variety of doughnuts to my taste, it was a homey nicely run little shop and I could certainly see myself stopping by for the occasional buttermilk bar if I lived nearby.

Holy goodness me everything that is wonderful in this world these donuts are worth every single freaking calorie you consume! They have your classics but they have been amped up to the most delicious degree! But they also have unique donuts like a banana fritter! Not to mention how sweet the services! The staff always has a smile and are genuinely concerned for customer care! When I take a box of sunrise donuts to my meetings I become the hero!

This place. Oh, this place...has my heart. Their hours are typical donut shop hours (really early). However, are closed on Sundays and Mondays. Just an FYI! They make everything in-house and apparently, start making all that deliciousness at midnight! Kinda craycray. But you gotta do what you gotta do! And it pays off...I've ordered dozens of donuts from these guys. I love the variety. I love the taste and textures. Everything from your classic donuts and bars to more unique items like red velvet donuts and french puffs or sometimes even kolaches! They also serve good coffee - from Caffe D'arte. The dirty chai I asked for was perfect. Served hot and fresh. Really nice way to start the morning! The service is always fast and friendly. Though, I've never been in when it was super busy - I only ever see two people working so I do wonder how they handle peak hours. As long as they keep up the good work and service, I will remain loyal to this place whenever I crave donuts!

I give this place a 1 because they didn't have any doughnuts! It was late morning on a Friday, and they ran out of doughnuts. Not one there. Which I found strange. It's not like it was 5 pm, end of the day. Um....GO MAKE MORE DOUGHNUTS! I don't get it -- they're a doughnut shop and when you run out of food, you go make more. I asked for coffee and were out of that too. Then a latte which finally came lukewarm. Do these people know how to run a business? I miss Dunkin Donuts...always fresh doughnuts, always fresh HOT coffee, no matter what time of day or night.

The blueberry fritters are amazing and the coffee is perfect! And they have oatmeal. Service is ideal, quick to ring you up, and they just leave you to eat. The shop is super clean, too. Thank you!

The Ham & Cheese Croissant from here is amazing. The cheese is perfectly melted and the ham is a quality I wouldn't expect. The contents were cooked inside the croissant which was great!! Coffee was nice as well. Great little find.

The apple fritter are exceptionally soft and just right amount of glaze to give it that flaky texture. The perfect balance of apple and cinnamon makes this a dangerous proposition for a productive morning.

I love this place so much! I kinda miss the previous owners though, they were this cute married couple from Dallas, super warm and friendly. Now when I go in I always see the same lone young girl, I'm not sure if it's the new owner or their daughter, but she doesn't talk or smile at all. She isn't rude or anything, she's just...kinda there, you know? Makes me wanna give her a hug, seems like she's unhappy just sittin' there by herself all day long. On the bright side, they kept all the old recipes, and they're open 7 days a week now. So I can finally get my precious, precious coffee & donuts on Monday morning when I need it most! :p Try their cruller puffs and kolaches, you'll be happy you did. Their coffee is also top notch, one of the few places who use Caffe d'Arte beans, hands-down the tastiest in Washington. You'd think more businesses would carry it, but they don't, so I'm lucky that Sunrise has it and that it's so close to my home and work!

I have to drop them a star because more recently they stopped adding nutmeg to their dough. Which was a big hit and a unique trait for their donuts. I think they should put it back in because more shops are in town. With that niche flavor profile, they would stand ahead of the pack.

AMAZAZING donuts!! Literally... By far.. Best I've ever had. Tried maple bar & cake donut today for first time.... Melt in your mouth delicious! If you are in Redmond/Bellevue area... This place is a must! Only con... Weird hours.

Reviewing live as we munch on a jelly donut and coffee It is our first time here and this place is amazing. Donuts are freshly made and are seriously yummy. Coffee is great and needless to say this place is a winner. Lastly, owners are friendly and prices are very reasonable ( actually cheaper than top pot) Don't goto to top pot donut. Drive half a mile more for a much much better taste and cheaper price.

I've been wanting to try this place for awhile now. I drive past it almost everyday and the sign taunts me. I did try to go one time and they were closed- I think it was a Monday. But I just saw a sign that they are now open 7 days a week. Anyways, having finally gone, this place is great! Many different varieties. Donut selections that I never heard of- like kolaches, these are the savory version. Very friendly staff. Superb coffee. I thought the coffee would be mediocre, but it ranks up there with the donuts! Definitely will be making this place a habit.

Wow! We only came here on a whim after a fun night at Celtic Bayou, but it turned out to be a great decision! The beans they use here (Cafe D'Arte) are the same as one of my favorite coffee places in my college town, so I always get a little nostalgia rush every time I have a cup. Very high quality coffee and espresso! And the donuts - AUGH the DONUTS! These are, hands down, the best donuts I've ever had. Everything is fresh and fluffy, and buttery tasting without the grease. This is also the only time I've ever had donuts and not gotten a wicked stomach ache right after. My personal favorites are the maple bar and cinnamon sugar twist. Just be mentally prepared, they might be out of your favorite donut when you come in; they sell super fast since they're so delicious, but waiting for a new batch to come out doesn't take to long. The girls here are usually on top of things and have a new batch ready fairly quickly. AND then you get super fresh donuts! Also, so cheap! Two medium coffees and two cinnamon twists cost about 5 bucks! That's cheaper than ONE froufy Starbucks drink, and super delicious to boot!

The shop is very understated and easy to pass by but they have delicious donuts at a super reasonable price (less than $1 each)! The owners are also really friendly. Definitely go here for a quick breakfast snack :) Personal Tips: There is limited seating so don't count on getting a seat every time. Also, there is a transaction fee for using a card if you spend less than $5 so bring cash because that's better for the business anyway!

Grabbed a mocha and a half dozen doughnuts. They were a bit cold because I came in the afternoon but were still light and fluffy with great glaze. The mocha was surprisingly good, not to much chocolate and well foamed. I'll be back for sure.

Can't see what all the fuss is about. Went in about 9:30in the morning and not much of a variety. The bacon maple bar was soft but the bacon is bland so must be boxed crumbs. Live close but won't make a special trip.

The donuts were delicious! The coffee was perfect and the service was fast and friendly. We stayed and ate, and the two ladies working were very engaged with their customers! We will definitely be returning!

They have undergone a change in management, and I was really expecting the quality to go down, but to my surprise, not only they managed to stay true to the same amazing donuts, but now they are opened 7 days a week, and don't sell out as fast. Also, buttermilk bar is now there every day, and not only on Tuesdays. :)

Yeah, local doughnut shop!!! Finally open on Sundays. It is ac clean and delicious little place. Only issue - no tables. There is a bar table, but not too comfy with kids. Otherwise, perfect local donut hop.

  • Michael S.

Great local donut shop. They make excellent donuts in a wide variety of flavors, both raised and cake. The Caffe D'Arte espresso is wonderful as well. Unlike Top Pot, Sunrise makes donuts are reasonably sized, cheaper, and frankly, taste both fresher and better. The only annoying thing is that they don't make batches during the day. Once the stock is exhausted for the day, they close.

  • Sara M.

The BLUEBERRY glazed doughnut is why I keep coming back. I've heard they close up shop once they sale out for the day so you MUST hurry! They are airy, light, fluffy and so, so, so amazing.

My husband and I stopped here on our way to the dog park. There was no one there to greet us at the counter and I heard two women talking in the back room. After standing for a bit, a lady came out to greet us. We ordered a jelly donut, bavarian creme and maple bacon bar. The maple bacon bar was great but I was really disappointed with the bavarian creme because although the creme was good, the chocolate glaze hardly tasted like chocolate, it was very bland. The jelly donut was also just okay. Prices were great but I'd rather pay more for better quality.

This is one of those places I kinda hate to have stumbled upon. The last damn thing my cholesterol needs is for this place to be as good as it is. They even make tiny jelly doughnuts. No need for any other doughnut place, this place wins. However...get there early. This may be a good doughnut place but they make ONE batch of sweets for the day. When it's sold out that's it, they close. If you aren't there before 9:30am forget it, you'll need to go to QFC for a doughnut.

They're really good! Always someone friendly in the shop during pickup and then they always disappear instantaneously at work. You can measure it in milliseconds...there has to be some sort of extra-dimensional doughnutty goodness Sunrise places into every doughnut.

The only thing tricky is remembering to turn into the lot immediately after 7-11. Yumm-O! Friendly, yummy and such a nice little treat. The French crullers were unlike any I had had before- sort of like a cream puff that has gone to heaven. I believe they are a weekend special and at 3/$1 you can't beat it.

You are gonna need a strategy if you go by Sunrise Donuts often, or it will overwhelm you. The donuts are freshly made every morning right in the shop. There are lots of choices and it's all you can do not to gorge yourself right there. Since this shop was right next to my bus stop, and since I was dying for an espresso, I had to go in. I found the will power though to make a plan and stick to it. I promised myself that I could try a different donut each day, so I only ate one. Otherwise, well, you can imagine... The donuts are incredible, but the espresso is only adequate; To be fair, I am really finicky about lattes. There is no public restroom.

The donuts are good. The family that runs the shop is very friendly and it is nice supporting a local small business for fresh donuts in the morning. It'll run you $9.50 for a baker's dozen of donuts and they make for a good snack to pick up and bring into work.

Best donuts on the eastside. Friendly service! I think they charge you a fee if you dont use a discover card though. Tons of varieties and they always taste FRESH!

Friendly service and a good alternative to Krispy Kreme. Although priced sligtly more than KK, supporting the local business is a good thing :)

Best donuts I've ever had - and I'm no donut fan. I never quite understood the donut craze - even though I can enjoy the occassional Top Pot or Krispy Cream. However, after finally deciding to give in and line up for over 10 minutes I purchased the plain, blueberry and glazed donuts to share with my parents who had come to visit for the summer - all I can say is wow! I'm definitely a huge fan, and an attest that all the other reviews are true; the donuts taste very fresh and the texture is just right. I found this place because I drop off my dog at the doggie daycare in the same plaza complex, and one morning I I noticed their closed sign indicating that they closed since they're out of donuts for the day - I was stunned because on that morning I noticed the sign up at 11am! So, I decided that one day I would try out their donuts, and I have to say that my only regret was that I didn't try their donuts sooner.
