Not my favorite Korean place. I prefer Paldo over this, tremendously. I've come here a couple times, and have been dissatisfied every time. I've ordered grilled mackerel, soon du bu, seafood pancake, bulgogi, kalbi, spicy pork, and spicy squid here. The grilled mackerel is the winner here. It is seriously SO GOOD. Crunchy on the outside, tender and decadent on the inside. The soon du bu here is OK, not the best. Seafood pancake is greasy, as expected Spicy squid is a little too spicy for my liking, but overall a decent dish. Not planning on coming back here for another good while.

This is a tiny place that filled up quickly during lunch time. We sat at a table that was uncomfortably close to everyone else. It was almost a communal spot. I ordered the bibimbap. The bowl came with small amounts of a lot of different things. It's great if you like to try different things, but if you find a favorite, there's not much of it. They serve a pretty good selection of banchan, considering it's a lunch that costs less than $10 buckeroos.

Bad service. Average food. I think something has changed because the food used to be much better.

I've been here a handful of times now and each time ordered the tofu soup. I love tofu soup! Every time it's been spicy, just how I like it. Dining in during weekday lunch time can be crowded with slow service. I do appreciate the consistency in taste whether you're eating in or dining out, though it would be great to have faster service for dining in and taking out. Can't say it's the best tofu soup I've had, but the best I've found on the eastside. I've also tried the hubby's short ribs and kimchi pancake - both are okay and worth giving a try.

I used to go to seoul garden more often since it is closer to me and the Bo-ssam used to be delicious. After Seoul garden changed my fresh made kimchi to old sour kimchi with half portion of the sliced pork. I gave up on that restaurant and rather to drive extra 10-15min to Seoul hot pot. Seoul hot pot is awesome! Not that they made the fresh kimchi and even I informed them I can pay extra cost for extra kimchi, the server kindly said:" no thank you. We don't sell kimchi but happy to give you extra kimchi with your order." What a great service! Almost can't believe a restaurant is refused to get more money from their customers! The food: tasty! And I'm paying almost $3-4 less for my tofu soup compares to Seoul garden! Yes, I know gas is expensive but it is totally worth it! I love the food and kimchi and the excellent customer service I receive today!!

Came here and ordered two small hot pots. The food's total amount were decent, but the portions inside were consisted of mainly tofu. Throughout the meal, all we tasted was the spicy soup and tofu and scraps of the pieces we had ordered. We ended up going elsewhere to fill out stomach to satisfactory.

I had the seafood hot pot and it was delish! I should've taken a photo but my mouth got to it first! Next time!

3.5 stars. Smelled a bit strange upon walking in. We agreed the smell must have been from something burning or bad meat. Yikes...wonder what it was. Tried the "ahl soondubu" which was decent. The flavor was OK - a bit watered down maybe. The portions were fair. The service was perfectly fine. Nothing was bad but nothing was notably good...I kept wondering if there was a better Korean restaurant around. The banchan is just OK. The myulchi, which is usually my favorite to eat with rice and soondubu, was a bit underseasoned. I don't know if I'll be back. We'll see!

So bad!!!!!! We wait such a long time to order our food! And the waiter just ignore us!!!!!

  • Vivian L.

I actually love their food except the hot pot. The hot pot is not good at all. Tasteless. But the other dishes are so good. I love the BBQ dish, the pork and salad dish, spicy squid and rice. We went there with a group of 6. All of us did not like the hot pot but the other dishes. I think they should change their name to Seoul Korea. Because the hot pot really is not their best choice for people.

I feel like this is the only place on the eastside (not up north or down south) that has good korean food at reasonable (not cheap) prices. Lunch prices are much better than dinner, but considering how much real estate is in Bellevue, I am totally okay with their pricing since that means I don't have to drive to Lynnwood or Federal Way. My favorites are the soft tofu stew (soondooboo) and the spicy pork (dwaejee gogee). I can make them both myself at home, but sometimes i just don't have the time or the energy to make the effort. The side dishes are pretty standard and nothing special, but they are consistently good and you can get as much as you like. Service like all Asian places can be a bit slow but the food usually come out really quickly once you order.

I am a big fan of this place! They are usually always busy, which speaks of how good the food is. They recently remodeled the place and I heard that they changed the owners. The food isn't as tasty as I remembered it to be but it's still one of my favorites on the East side. Aside from all you can eat KBBQ restaurants, most Korean restaurants only give you two or three side dishes. Seoul Hot Pot gives you 4-6 dishes and they're of really good quality at that! The younger servers tend to keep to them selves and only check on you if you request them to. However, there's an elderly woman there that I love! She's always smiling and joyful. She's helpful even when it's busy and never seems to let her attitude down, even when you can tell she's overwhelmed. All in all, on cold days out, I love coming here for a hot bowl of soondubu.

    (4)
  • Sandra C.

Been coming here time and again with the family and their food is fairly consistent. Their soondubu is more on the creamy side and a bit more mild compared to the ones I have had in LA. The banchan is pretty good though pretty generic instead of the interesting you would see at other Korean soon dubu places. Make sure you get the beef or mushroom soondubu, I think those 2 are the best ones. Also make sure you get a sizzling place of Galbi as well as haemul pajeon (seafood pancake)! NOM! We'll be back! ===================== 1 star - "will be telling everyone to stay away" bad 2 stars - it's okay, i won't return 3 stars - it's okay, i'll come back 4 stars - it's pretty good, i'll come by again! 5 stars - it's really good, my go-to places!

Have eaten there with my family and friends. Food is very good. My favorite is the seafood pancake. Service is nice, friendly and quick.

We come here at least a few times every year for the past five years and the food was great initially until new owners came along. The menu has expanded but food quality has gone down and food portion becomes smaller. We love bossam but now it's just difficult to pay more than $20 for an item that's just tasteless and not flavorful. We don't plan on coming back unless we are really craving for Korean food and don't want to drive outside of Bellevue.

  • Fu C.

I tried this place and after reading the reviews, expected slow service. That was not the case. I got there at 11:30 and was immediately greeted and seated with a cup of tea. For comparison I ordered the tofu soup and found that very good. The ban chan was excellent. One of the better places on the east side for sure.

    (4)
  • Amber G.

Not bad. Service could be better. If you come close to closing, like 30 min before, they like to close on time. Before it was even closing time, they already close the kitchen lights. So it's probably better not to come at all when it's that late.

  • Frank C.

This is a quite good Korean restaurant. Every time we go to the restaurant we always order the delicious pancake. Tofu soup is one of my favorite Korean food, and the restaurant didn't disappoint me. They were often busy so sometimes we had to proactively asked one of their staff to put down order for us.

  • Ruth K.

First time I've returned since the owner changed and it seems the place has downgraded... My family and relatives went on a Sunday night. The portions were small, the service was lacking (the place wasn't even packed), there were less side dishes, they did not refill the side dishes when we asked, and the food didn't taste as good as it did before the owner changed. We ordered a soondooboo towards the middle of our meal and waited about 30 minutes for it to be finished. We even asked it to-go after about 20 minutes. They still did not hurry up with the order... When we saw the order, only half of the to-go cup (32 oz, I think) was filled. The pro was that they did take a reservation. I used to recommend this place as one of the best Korean restaurants, but now I feel as though it's not the best. It's not bad, but it's not as good as before. You can get a better deal somewhere else.

Good food, I always come here with my mom for a quick lunch. I had one bad experience which is why i knocked off a star. The waitress got my order incorrect and didn't offer to take the dish back, instead she said "you eat this instead okay?" .... Uhm no thanks. But since normally when I go there it's been pretty good, I won't let this one mishap stop me from coming again.

I absolutely adore Seoul Hot Pot, even if it is sometimes difficult to get a table. They bring you a table-full of little dishes like kimchi, fried tofu, yummy veggies, etc., just to get started. Then when the real food comes, it is amazing! I usually get the beef bul go gee, but this time around I got the pork version. My mouth was sooo happy! Just keep in mind that it is a bit spicy, so your sinuses will get going. On top of the amazing food, the prices are pretty good. You get tons of food for around $13-15 per person. I can't wait to go again!

  • Sendi W.

This *was* my favorite Korean restaurant on the east side, unfortunately, the owner & chef changed recently. Same name, same menu, same price, better decor, but the food taste half as good and the portions are much smaller. Their Yuk-gae-jang used to be the best I've ever tasted (even compare to the ones i tried in Korea), but now it's just plain watered down soup. The previous owner must've forgotten to pass down the secret recipe. Oh well, I guess now I have to drive to Lynwood or Federal Way to get authentic Korean food. Bummer!!!

  • Joyce J.

The service was decent as the waitress let us in even though we arrived half an hour before it opened on a Sunday. She was really nice with giving recommendations. The place was pretty packed on Sunday for a lunch. I had the seafood stone bibimbap which you don't usually see (it's a special on the wall). It was surprisingly good and flavorful. I don't usually finish my bibimbap or I get bored of the contents in the stone pot after a while and would have to add hot sauce to enhance the flavors. However, with this place, I finished the whole bowl and really enjoyed it. The tea here is also decent as they do brew it fresh (this is how one of my fellow Yelp Elite friends judges Asian eateries so I thought I would clarify this point).

I would rate this 3.5 stars, but 4 would seem a little too forgiving. I came to this restaurant during a Friday afternoon for lunch. FYI, if you're coming here during lunch and need it to be quick I'd probably reconsider--it was really packed in the restaurant. The service was okay. The best way to put it was that there were 2 servers scrambling to do everything (cashier, wait tables, clean tables, etc). It was really hard to get the attention of the waitressess, but when we did they were very pleasant and friendly. The food was good too! I got the kimchi and pork pancake which tasted great! (A little on the oily side, but whatevs!) The bonchon on the side tasted great as well! My friend who ate with me didn't get her food on time (about 20 minutes after the rest of or group (6 people) got our food.) It was a pretty simple dish too--the tofu soup. I am going to assume they forgot about it. So all in all, if you have the time come here. If you're in a hurry, maybe pass!

New owners, great food as usual, but service kinda sucks...not even busy at the time we ate!

Arrive early to avoid the lunch crowd. This place fills up fast. I ordered the Tofu soup with mushrooms and dumplings. It arrived at my table boiling and the waitress dropped an egg and seaweed in the pot and I was good to go (they could've done this before they came out, but I can see why they want to do this in front of the customer). The prices are manageable and service was quick. However they do not auto-refill your water glass unless you are able to flag a staffer down.

Maybe it's just that I haven't looked a ton, but I haven't found lots of good Korean in Seattle and this is probably the best I've found. The bulgogi is delicious and as tender as any meet you could ever ask for. They bring out a random assortment of 6 or so small things which you can much on with your meal. One time it included dried squid which was absolutely astounding. My other favorite here is the seafood pancake which is absolutely top notch. It's also a good sign that there are very few other white people here which just goes to show that it's appeal and authenticity are probably high. Also, when you're done having your great Korean food you can wander over to Mayuri for some indian sweets to complete your exploration of great ethnic food that's hard to find on the other side of the lake.

  • Sandy L.

When I heard more mandarin than korean at the restaurant, I should know this is a sign. This place is still very packed as my last visit about a year ago. Food portion is huge and price is good considering Eastside location. Taste was just average and sides dishes were below average for choices.

This restaurant used to be more fulfilling in terms of the food. Lately though, several of my more recent experiences have resulted in not so great food. They burned the fish I ordered pretty badly, so I had to send it back. Then, I ordered some food to go for a sick relative, and I ordered #3 spicy kimchi beef soontofu soup at 4 stars. This was the worst Korean soup I've ever eaten in my life. It came out like 1 star spice level, and it was obviously missing several key ingredients, because it basically tasted like water added to the red pepper spice they use, minus the salt and any other flavoring. Instead of focusing their attention on the decor inside, maybe they should make sure that they maintain the quality of the food.

The. worst. service. ever. 1. filthy table & glasses. 2. ignored requests for drinks/orders. 3. lied about 'reserved' section apparently due to the skin color of one of our party. The clean accessible seating opened up for others who had no reservations while we were there. 4. 38 minutes for basic Korean dishes. 5. Something in the soup that resembled a piece of dishrag. Never will darken the doorstep again, and will advise anyone against it unless they like racist apathetic treatment & molasses service. I frequent so many places with fantastic Banchan and delectable Kal Bi, I expected an iota of "okay". This was a friend's choice due to proximity and iphone app....an experience way beyond terrible. Go to Paldo instead.

I've come to this place and the service is fast and prompt. Just like your typical Korean restaurant, they serve up side dishes while you are waiting for your order. Seafood pancakes are delicious and the Bi Bim Bap is clean (meaning the ingredients aren't just dumped into the bowl and served, but nicely arranged). I've ordered a variety of dishes and all were exceptional. The only thing that I can complain about is that it does get busy during lunch time (which is good for them). Other that, great place.

  • George I.

I go there very often for their cold noodle soop and bi-bim-bop (not sure if it spells like that. Their seafood tofu soup is great as well. Another favorite is the seafood pancake. Usually this place is packed so I either call to reserve a table or just call for to-go. The staff is pretty friendly. Their side dishes are always fresh and tasty.

Seoul Hot Pot on my first visit was the perfect lunch spot for my busy schedule. My boyfriend and I have both visited Korea separately and agreed it was the most authentic Korean restaurant on the Eastside. We shared a seafood pancake (recommended) and each ordered a bowl of tofu/beef soup. Everything came quickly after we ordered, and tasted great. A pretty decent sized meal for their lunch special price of $7.95. The staff was friendly and often checked in despite the busy rush and the server packaged my to-go container of soup very carefully so it wouldn't spill. I appreciated that fact. While the kimchi and hot pot was not nearly as spicy as in Korea, I thought everything was still flavorful and lovely -- perfect rainy day meal -- I will visit again!

I was VERY disappointed with this restaurant. I visited at 6pm and the place was packed with 90% of the patrons being Korean. This was exciting because it indicated that the food would be authentic. I was brought both a water and a barley tea. I ordered the mool neng mein (cold noodles with beef in soup) and encountered what I should have taken as a warning to just leave. The waitress did not smile at all and upon taking my order, I thanked her and she just turned her back and walked off. Now, I understand that they were busy and maybe she was having a bad day but it only gets worse from here. After almost 15 minutes, my food arrived. The noodles were very tough. It was like eating spaghetti noodles that still had four minutes to boil. The soup bowl was maybe 10" in diameter, 5" tall and filled about 3/4 with soup. How much beef would you expect to be in that much soup? Try one thin 1x2" sliver... There was mention of the side dishes being delicious in another review. I had two sides of napa kimchee--one sweet and one spiced. They hardly had any flavor to them at all. There was only enough that I could kinda tell what they were supposed to be. So I finished up my meal in about ten minutes. In total I had been sitting in the restaurant for maybe half an hour. How many times did they check to see if I needed a refill? None. I ran out of barley tea 1/4 of the way through my meal and the waitress never returned. And I do mean NEVER. She didn't even come back to give me my check. I had to wait there for nearly ten more minutes before someone realized that I was done eating and it was a different waitress. This waitress at least smiled which was a relief after what I had been through thus far. After paying and as I was leaving, I could hear a chorus of "Thank you!"s from the other waitresses behind me. If only I had them as my waitress instead. So I'm not sure of what caused all of this. I watched as other people were brought out food and their eyes popped open at the joy of the sights and sounds of their meals. Maybe they are just bad at making mool neng mein. Maybe my waitress hates Americans and told them to give me crummy food and provided crummy service. Who knows. What I DO know is that I don't plan on ever going to this restaurant ever again. Overpriced, low quality, poor service, no thank you.

I heard this place was really good when it first opened, but after the owner changed, the quality has plummeted. When I went, the place was practically empty. I had the yookgaejang, but it tasted like instant ramen with too much water. Also, the vegetables did not seem fresh at all. The side dishes weren't bad.

Yummy! Came here for lunch with some co-workers after one raved about their soft tofu soup. The service is perfunctory but prompt, but who cares? The food is amazing! We all had the soft tofu soup again, and I tried the kimchi soup with pork. It was delicious! Hot, filling, just spicy enough, and the serving was big enough that I couldn't even finish it, I was so stuffed! The banchan was plentiful and none of the bowls ever sat empty. Great flavor, great big portions and a great deal for the price! I'm getting hungry just thinking about it.

This was the first time I had ever had Korean food. The place is very clean and welcoming. The menu is straight forward. The fun part of eating here was the presentation and trying to figure out how to eat the food when it was served. I had to send out a tweet. The food came out quickly and was very fresh. Once the "how do you eat this?" problem was solved, the food tasted as good as it looked. I look forward to coming back here again. The service was very friendly and very fast.

Korean food is amazingly good for the spicy tongue! This was my first experience eating the authentic cuisine and I couldn't believe the vast amount of food you get here! Very comparable to Indian food. You get these many little dishes of different pickled appetizers, eggs, etc. Hot Pots come super fresh, steaming hot, and veggie (tofu) friendly! Yay! Many of the dishes are basic but they still have a complex in flavors and spice. Dining is plain, don't expect the fancy - lots of families and it can get quiet packed which obviously means something good is getting served here. The next time I'm craving something to either fill me up or clear my sinus I'm coming back for some Hot Pot.

Just had dinner at Seoul Hot Pot tonight. We all ordered soon tofu soup (I ordered the one with kimchi and pork and everyone else ordered the seafood one) and it was good. I got mine medium spicy, and it was a good amount of spiciness. The service was good because the servers were really nice to us and even checked up on us a couple times. It wasn't terribly busy today (usually it's pretty busy but I suppose it's because it's a Monday night). Though the tofu soup was good, I will say that I've had better Korean food (I lived in LA for four years, and the Korean food in "K-town" is so much better). I've eaten here before, and we've tried the jap chae, galbi (beef short ribs), bulgogi (marinated beef), seafood pancake, and the monk fish. Everything is good here (I'm not so sure about the monk fish, though) and the variety is pretty good; obviously they don't have everything, but they do have all the important stuff. However, the prices are pretty expensive for the BBQ (like the galbi and bulgogi). For about $15, you only get a small plate--and I admit, I'm pretty new to the Seattle area, so I've only been to a few Korean restaurants--but in restaurants like BCD in LA, for that price, you get the BBQ AND a bowl of soon tofu soup. But that's sort of a tangent. Bottom line is, you will find good Korean food here, though when this place is busy (and it is usually busy during the lunch hour), there's a long wait, especially if you have a big party.

This place serves authentic Korean food and possibly the best tofu soup on the East side. They ask for 1-5 stars for the tofu soup, I would recommend getting 4 stars or below as the 5 stars is incredibly spicy (much more so than other Korean restaurants). I have visited many Korean restaurants in California and this place feels more spicy and authentic. Highly recommend you trying this out!

Great spot for down to earth, homey Korean food. Came here with a large party and got seated shortly. They are severely understaffed, but the 2 servers there were both very nice. We got a bunch of stuff mostly good, but didn't make my 5 star rating 1. seafood pancake - reminiscent of the kind you get in LA Korean town but with slightly less seafood and green onion, flavors where there none-the-less. 2. tofu soup - pretty good, tofu was not as soft and smooth as I like. The combination had some dried clams or oysters in it which was a bit weird. Overall a decent soup. 3. Japchee - wonderful - their version is a bit on the wet side, but what I like is that the flavors were awesome and it is not too oily like certain K places. 4. ginseng chicken soup - wow wow wow!!! first time ever to try such a delicate dish and it was awesome. Not too much ginseng flavor, but the whole chicken is stuffed with glutinous rice, a stick of fresh ginseng, a few dates , and something else. there is no salt in the actual soup, but they provide you with a salt/pepper mix that you can add. The flavors are very suddle but there is an intensely sweet chicken flavor - although the taste is bland (if you don't add the salt) but the nutritional value in this dish is over the top! I wish there was more ginseng flavor but I guess that would also overtake the sweet chicken flavor. Either way this is my must order item from now on. 5. bulgogi - ok, not bad, but not worth spending more words on. 6. bbq chicken - spicy and tasty, great marinade, a bit on the dry side though flavor was wonderful 7. side dishes - got 6 mixed spicy and not, some dried fish was peanuts, seaweed/cucumber thing, fish cake, kimchee, radish , and bean sprouts.

I used to love this place. But they either changed owner, changed chef, or changed recipe - it's not working out right. The seafood onion pancake was extremely greasy and taste like oil, the tofu soup was very bland, and the bulgogi was very sweet. I have also noticed they have raised price on a lot of the items. Please bring back the old recipe!

I saw this place on yelp and decided to try it. When I first walked in I was surprised, the food smelled really good and my mouth started to drool. As we were ordering, I kept staring at other tables to see what others were eating. Most people had the seafood pancake and the tofu soup. My friend and I however ordered the seafood pancake and the bee-bim bop from the menu. When the food came to us they brought kimchi napa, kimchi cucumber, the tiny fish, bean sprouts and others small sides. The seafood pancake was good, the seafood portion was overcooked though which was a bit disappointing since it ruined an almost perfect dish. The bee-bim bop on the other hand was pretty fail though, it's one of my favorite Korean dishes and this one just failed to deliver. The service was also bad, they dropped of peoples' checks before they were done eating and never refilled our tables water and we also had to ask twice for boxes since our waiter forgot. Overall this place was decent and a good price, but the food could have been better as well as the service.

bbq LA ribs are very good here. Soft tofu, not very flavorful. Funny that being a "hot pot" place, you'd expect their broth to be good. Service isn't that great. The ladies are friendly/kind, but not very organized. .Wish we had the same server who knew what we needed, but it seem to change all the time and very hard to get their attention since they are zooming by so quickly. They seem to be very busy walking back and forth, but not very organized. The restaurant was mostly filled, but it wasn't a busy night and there was no waiting line. 3 servers for that size restaurant should have been plenty, but we didn't get refills until about 1/2 of the restaurant was empty. We had the ribs, japchae, seafood pancake and the mushroom/beef soft tofu soup. The japchae was okay, but a little bit too much saucey. The sauce was good, but too salty or rather they put too much sauce. The noodles were swimming in it. The seafood pancake wasn't so good. Definitely had better at Hosoonyi's in Lynnwood or elsewhere. And they brought our soft tofu when we were all done and there was no compensation except for "sorry". Everyone at the table already finished their rice and most of the dinner. We kept asking about it during our meal and she said it was coming about 2-3 times. I think at times like this when you are a small independent establishment, after your apology you should offer if there's something we needed or even offer more rice or something. I was tempted to ask her to cancel it or to not charge us for it. But we were with guests. I personally think the restaurant in Paldo market in Bellevue is better. Their meat isn't as good as here and the food there is simpler, but I think over all is better and a little cheaper. Service is better too. The lady who owns the place is allergic to msg herself, so I heard that she doesn't add any msg to their food. Always good to know. Another good one is the soft tofu place also at a Paldo market in Federal Way. Their soft tofu and food is way superior to here. Overall, Seoul hotpot isn't bad. But I wish it was better. I wish the soft tofu place in Federal Way Paldo was here. I'd come all the time and wouldn't feel like I have to travel south or north for some good k food.

I've been to this restaurant a gazillion times. Disclosure - I'm korean and have eaten a lot of korean food in many many restaurants. Some amazing, some horrible (e.g. blue ginger lol). I like the way the food tastes, personally. It has a slightly western twist - it definitely isn't the 100% authentic korean recipes. I think it's in the spices they use, type of oil, salt. Whatever it is someone went out of their way and changed it up. I enjoy it and wouldn't say it's inferior to other more authentic korean food in lynnwood or federal way, and if you don't eat korean food regularly this is a moot point, you probably won't notice the difference. Service is always great. The waiters and waitresses are super friendly every time I go and remember me. Even when I come with my cheap friend that abuses the side dishes and refills at least 3x every time he goes (and only spends $8 since he gets the sundubu). They are always quick and happy to refill all of the side dishes and never stingy about it. So yeah, in context I think this restaurant deserves 5 stars. Hot Tip - If you like ridiculously spicy food like 7 alarm wings or "The Man", you need to check out their supersecret spicy sundubu (tofu stew). When they ask for 1-5 how spicy, ask for as spicy as possible. I almost died. I went back the next week and had it again. Hurt like hell.

I'm told that service in Korean restaurants in the US is typically bad, so I'll overlook that aspect. Go early and good luck finding parking if you want a seat. On a recent trip for lunch, one of the guys in our group ordered the special and the waitress said "Sounds good, what is it?" She proceeded to walk outside (the board is only visible from outside) to write down the order, then came back to the table to take the rest of the orders (!). Their soft tofu hot pot is great, but I've also realized that I know next to nothing about Korean dishes and would love to come here every day for a couple weeks just to get a lay of the land.

I like this place! I've only been here once, but I enjoyed it. It's a small place with the tables very close together, so it filled up quick (after we arrived, thank goodness). We ordered tofu soup (1st time having it, thought it was good, have nothing to compare it to), japchae (also 1st time having this, really liked it, had lots of flavor), and short ribs (can't go wrong with this). The service was ok. There were several people in the kitchen, so food came out to us quick, but only 2 ladies taking orders and cleaning tables. They were a bit slow to us our check (which we thought was weird because they had quite a few people waiting for tables). I thought one of the ladies working, the older one, was really funny and nice - she says some random things. I'll definitely come back.

Service is lacking. The tofu soup has a sweet taste to it which did not go well with the spicy soup. Korean Stone's tofu soup is way better.

Koreans like extremes. We'll use chile paste when eating raw peppers and dip pork belly into olive oil. I went to this place on a scorching day to have hot tofu pot and kalbi. The food was great! The side dishes were many, but they were individually good! Oh, yeah they do use MSG . . . not good for you all the time, but like heroine, it's alright in moderation.

NOT IMPRESSED with their soft tofu soup, kimchi stew, or beef soup, none of them were that great. They taste really really bland. But, their side dishes are DELICIOUS and the waiters are nice. I feel like the quality may have decreased over time. I remember this place being really good 3 years ago when I was an intern out here. Sigh. O well. But again, I've had some really good Korean food in the U.S. Next up to try: 1. bean soup 2. grilled mackerel 3. bbq dishes. I may revise my review if these prove to be better. It's hard to make good stews/soups.

I really wanted to like this place since the owner is so nice & the place/food is clean~ but I really cant because of their bulgogi & kalbi but especially the bulgogi. The meat quality is horrible & reminds me of yoshinoya~ Todays was even worse and had some yellow color fat on it all over and my husband thought it was rotten. Its also very dry and doesnt have marinade or sauce at all. Im just disappointed because I do like all their other food that we tried there but c'mon its a korean restaurant, your bulgogi is supposed to be the best and main! The side dishes are also not too good and portions are very small here for the price. I fell like I totally wasted my $ today...

We were there last night for diner. Food was decent. Service was really bad. There were 2 servers there. One guy and one girl. The guy was more interested in talking & chasing his female coworker than attending guests, including us. We wanted some tea, but have to waited so long to get his attention. Overall, decent food, terrible service. Don't really care to come back.

Last time we went to Seoul Hot Pot in late June, I decided to change my mind about this restaurant to give 2 stars. This place used to be much better in food taste, ingredients and quality of service. Looks like there is new owner and kitchen staff in place, and much has changed for the worse. I'd go to some other place going forward. Bye bye Seoul Hot Pot.

For Korean food, this is my favorite place! :) My favorite Korean dish is the seafood Soondubu. I eat it everywhere I go, but this is the only place that seems to know how to do it right. I think the key is using real seafood. They always have a good combination of clams, oysters, shrimpies, and octopus. The seafood makes the soup taste flawless. I love the get 3 star because it just seems to make the soup taste perfect. Spicy yet I can still taste ALL of the flavor. Kenny likes to eat the Yukgaejang at the extra spicy level. That soup tastes amazing too. They recently made the bowl smaller though which is kind of disappointing, but at the same time, I think it was the right choice because this will limit the food coma into a smaller food coma. ;) Just ordering the two soups and eating the side dishes with rice is usually the perfect amount of food. On days when we are super hungry, we like to order the Kalbi. YUMMY!~ When we have more people. we like the Bulgogi and the Seafood Pancake too. The one thing I WISH they would have is the Korean Potato Salad. Please make some soon. :)

Seoul Hot Pot is my family's go-to for delicious Korean food on the Eastside. We're slaves to their seafood pancake, kalbi grilled short ribs, spicy tofu soup (they crack an egg right into it), and spicy black cod. However, as many times as we've eaten at this establishment, NEVER have our drinks been refilled. Also, from personal experience, if you speak Korean, you will probably be seated quicker and have your appetizers delivered to you first....

When I think of Seoul Hot Pot, it might be a place I might take a person who has never tried Korean food before. Is there a specific dish that this place is known for??? I don't envision it? Is the food the most awesomest Korean food in the 15-20 mile vacinity? (I have no idea... I don't live around there)... BUT... Of everything they have it's pretty solid and well made. The servers a friendly, and they got a healthy portion of ban chan, and a variety of food to try from. If you were may be walking distance or 15 minutes from home... I may come visit you more often.

I'm a bad Korean. I've only had it once back in DC...and it was my first kimchee experience. I know, I know. Hold your judgment. :) Fellow Yelper Krystin T. and i went to check this place out for lunch and I was very pleasantly surprised by what my Korean heritage has to offer. We came in and we immediately offered some tea which was hot but wonderful. The only thing that really annoyed me was that we sat down, and someone 30 seconds later asked to take our order. About a minute after that, another server came by and asked if we were ready. Then right after that, someone else came by. 5 servers later, and 3 minutes after we sat down, we were finally ready to order. I had the tofu, kimchee, and beef hot pot and it was delicious! It came with the little side dishes...some of which I had no idea what they were and was not adventurous enough to try them. I liked the spicy cucumbers and the bean sprouts. Not sure what the other things were. It looked like there were dead fish heads though and something else. Overall, great little place! Lots of Asians in there so I'm assuming it's pretty authentic. I took one star away because the service was a little annoying, but I'll definitely be back when I want my next Korean fix.

We've gone here at least 3 times for the tofu soup and for their beef/veggie noodle thing that I absolute ADORE :) It's probably not the most authentic korean food you'll get on the east side, but the pro's outweigh the cons, at least to us. The servers are fairly attentive, food's moderately priced, and the atmosphere's nice and casual for those weeknights where you just want to scrub out and eat well.

Seoul Hot Pot was my favorite place. It still is a good place to have Korean Food but, I have to agree with Ruth K. on the new changes to the place. I did not know that the owner changed and would explain why there were so many differences. I am glad that they tried hard to put some class into the place with new paint and decor but, please! Do not change the food! They do charge more money now for their food which is justified since the previous owner charged so little for such great food and portion sizes. Now, they are normal in size and also offer lunch sizes that are much smaller. I think they are still working on the speed issue. I went at lunch one time when they were busy and we didn't even get our order at all, . . not even a long wait, we just didn't get served and left hungry. . pretty bad. But i gave it 4 stars still because the food is still good . . for now (I noticed some changes to thier soups recently). The service tries and gives effort and this place is still my fave. If it changes in one way or another, I will review again. I went most recently for dinner on the 5th of Aug 2012. Other than that, I have been having lunch with co-workers and Dinner here and there on the way home.

One of my favorite restaurants. Most recently had their sea food Bibimbap from the daily special menu. It was spicy, but very delicious. A lot of ingredients mixed together nicely. Generous amount of shrimp, squid / octopus, etc. What's more, the best thing about a Korean restaurant is the free side dishes. Start eating right away without much wait.

  • Jing S.

Their tofu stew is my favorite item on the menu. I especially like the fact that they provide an egg that they crack into the stew as it is brough to the table. It is the one thing that I go back again and again for. Other dishes are sometimes hit and miss. One night my family went and we ordered the kimchi and pork pancake, but it was really greasy and the kimchi was burnt. That was the worst dish voted by my family members. We also tried the beef bulgogi and the pork bulgogi. The consensus is that the beef bulgogi is better, but if beef + pork is best. For me the beef is a lil bit bland, and the pork is a bit too sweet, that's why the combination works best. I didn't try it, but my dad ordered the bi bim bap and loved it! Service is slow, but it's like all the Korean restaurants I've been to around here, so nothing particularly out of the ordinary. For their awesome tofu stew, I can wait a little bit.

My buddy lives right up the street from here so when I drove past this place I knew we had to try it. Its in a little strip mall off the main road. The space is a little on the small side, very open space and floor plan reminded me of a teriyaki place. It was sunday night and about 1/2 full. My buddy and I got the soondubu and the old lady go the bibimbap. The soondubu was delicious, good flavor and just the right amount of spiciness. The bibimbap was ok, portion was a little small. The banchan consisted of only about 6 dishes, but they were all very good. The service here was above avg for a korean joint, waiter came several time to fill water cups and refill the banchan. This is very rare, as most of the time you have to scream to have someone give you more banchan or water. Prices were very good, especially for the area. We shall be back when in the neighborhood.

Ok, so I will admit, I know *nothing* about Korean food. This was my first try, and yes, I had to ask for a fork. Shameful. Came here on a second date and I was pleased to find that there were so many Korean people eating here that there was about a 20-minute wait at 7pm. Everything looked and smelled great, even what I couldn't identify. Upon being seated we decided to order the fried mackerel, spicy bbq pork and one of the seafood tofu soups. Everything was great, though I have to admit the soup was not my thing. It wasn't bad, just a bit fishier than I am accustomed to. The kimchi was awesome, everything was just as spicy as we requested and the service was spot on.

Seafood pancake 5 stars. It was crispy and loved the scallions and seafood that were mixed in the pancake. Seafood tofu pot 5 stars. Ordered 3 star spice, which came out to be perfect. The broth was so yummy that I wished there were less tofu and more soup. Rice cakes & dumpling soup 4 stars. Rice cakes were a bit chewy and dumplings were falling apart when you picked it up. But nice clear broth with seaweed made up for it. Beef cold noodles 3 1/2 stars. It came out different than I expected because it came with soup. I think the noodles could've cooked a bit longer before putting in cold broth. They were really chewy and it's a bit expensive with only two slices of beef & half an egg. Service? Good and attentive, but also it was 4pm and we were the only table at the time. Overall, I would go back for the seafood pancake and the tofu soup!!!

If I could, I'd give this place a 4.5 stars. The soondubu was EXCELLENT! We also ordered the grilled spicy chicken. Actually, it wasn't spicy which was fine with me. But it was very tasty. The chicken was moist and flavorful. The service was great and didn't wait long at all. And it was pretty packed when we ordered and the food came out pretty quickly. I docked half a point for the banchan. The variety was...ehhh...but the cucumbers leaves much to be desired. It had a funny taste, not in a good way and it wasn't totally fresh. I like mine with a good crunch. These were a bit mushy in the center. Overall, loved the meal and will return often. I'd bump up to 5 stars if they improved on the sides.

Good food. Good prices, but terrible service. The seafood pancake is usually good. The side dishes are delicious. My favourite side dish is the fish cake. I can totally eat that alone as my main meal. Since service is so terrible, maybe it is a good thing. You can save some money on tips.

This place was YUMMY!! I was visiting a friend and I wanted something hot and soupy because dude, fricken Seattle was hecka cold!! I duno how people can live in that weather! Thank goodness I live in CALIFORNIAAAAAAAAA...Anyway, so my friend recommended Seoul Hot Pot which was only a couple of blocks away from his house. He warned us to go in BEFORE the geek squad. EH? Well, according to him a lot of people from Microsoft, etc. etc. offices nearby go to Seoul Hot Pot for lunch. Took his advise and went in at 11:30am. By 11:45-12pm it was PACKED and there was a line! Crazy. I ordered the Kimchi tofu soup, my friend ordered another type of tofu soup, another one a rice bowl and we shared the seafood pancake. As you know, I like my food spicy. So I was deeeeeeeeelighted to see actual green chilli peppers in my tofu! YUM! Made me teared. It was soooo good! As for the pancake seafood, meh I've had better. Not a whole lotta seafood inside the pancake. I think we each paid $15 for our meal altogether. Typical, I think. Service was pretty good. They only had 2-3 waiters serving the WHOLE ENTIRE restaurant so they were running all over the place but they still managed to fill up our tea, fish cakes and other empty sides. If I'm ever in Seattle again (maybe summertime when it's not raining...mmm does it NOT rain in Seattle?) I will pay another visit!

I was pretty stuffed from a previous outing, but ventured out here to hang out a bit more with some great Yelp friends/buddy ol' pals. I played it safe and got a the bi bim bap. It was nice, but wished the rice was the bed and didn't come separate. As only my 2nd experience with it, I still prefer my first encounter from Chopsticks Teriyaki in Kent. It definitely is a nice, tasty, healthy dish, and I never thought I'd enjoy the egg on it. Throw some of the hot paste/sauce on it, and bam! Slick chopsticks, good tea, and yummy when in the area. [Thx YL!]

Oops. I ordered the wrong thing. Was so busy emailing, and talking with my lunch date and I, in a starvation decision, ordered BulGolGe (Marinated BBQ Beef) Not so much. It came out completely unappealing, almost sad looking with a few pieces of cabbage, then I realized where I was. HA. When we arrived, the place was empty. Took at least 10 minutes for tea, and the kim chee appetizers. Why? I use the lavatory, walk past the kitchen, and notice that there is a completely different race cooking, prepping, and cleaning. Okay, fine. I'm not racist, and I'm open minded. But...whatever. My assessment of the food tells me the owner wants to obtain profit while being an absentee owner. It can work, but the business looses heart and soul. In this case, Seoul. Ha.Ha. Sorry. Kim Chee dishes (free) were portioned comically small, and by the time our food arrived, the place literally became packed. Forget trying to get tea refilled. (Really good green rice tea.) My date ordered: Tofu/Mushroom/Pork Hot Pot (small) Total: $18 It's my own fault for not liking my dish. The situation could be compared to ordering seafood at a steakhouse, or vice versa. It was acceptable, but wasn't cracken. Next time, if there is one, I need to try the HOT POT! =) Ps. To me, this isn't Redmond. I'd call it Overlake/Crossroads.

  • Soo H.

I was actually bummed to move out of Redmond specifically b/c I would be farther away from Seoul Hot Pot. Perfect for the usually cold rainy weather in WA and you won't find a better place for Korean food on the Eastside. I pretty much get the same thing all the time: Soondubu. Have tried some other things, but really can only recommend the soup and appetizers/side dishes. This is a soup place and that's what they do well. Banchan is pretty good too and I love the rice/forbidden rice mix. I would skip most of the other dishes - they taste like one step about Korean take-out to me. The service is super fast and the servers are always nice. And most of the soups/appetizers/sides are typically under or around $10.

I totally fail and the earlier review was for a different nearby restaurant with Hot Pot in its name. :/ I don't now remember the name of the dish I ordered; it was the pork and cabbage with extra spicy kimchi that you make into little wraps at the table. It was REALLY good, but the unexpected raw oysters ended up getting me sick. I'll be back anyway though, because it was really tasty and what I saw on other diner's plates and bowls looked great..

(2 1/2 stars) We went for lunch today and ordered the tofu seafood hot pot, kalbi and bulgogi. The hot pot was good as usual (it used to be $5.95 for lunch). The kalbi had that same sweet flavor, some pieces were on the rare side. The bulgogi was even sweeter, which our 3-year boy liked. The condiments were ok, we wanted the anchovy condiment, but the waitress said that they were out. As we were leaving, we noticed other tables had the anchovy condiments who came after us.

  • Kat L.

Came here for a Korean fix. The prices are pretty good. The food is pretty good. And the service is nice. They were a little slow at getting the kimchi on the table but it wasn't so bad. My boyfriend got bibimbap, and it had no rice with the dish and not a lot left from the rice we were given with the kimchi. That was a little weird. The Soft Tofu Soup with Beef and Kimchi was delicious! Yum.!

    (4)
  • Steve M.

Tasty Korean food. The soft tofu soups are delicious and cheap. (Plus when you ask for five stars, they actually make it five stars.) The banchan is tasty. Food tends to come quickly too. I've yet to be disappointed.

  • Robert K.

Soondubu is pretty good here. It's hands down the best korean food on the eastside. Pricing is fair for what you are getting, they have a variety of foods that are good and I tend to go here pretty frequently. There are other places that slightly beat it but I think it's pretty good here. Dishes: kimchi beef soondubu, seafood pancake, fried mackerel, kalbi (hit or miss), etc. Disclaimer: I think I actually know korean food very well. I compare this to my overall experience with korean food. I probably wouldn't give 5 stars to any korean restaurant in WA so it sort of makes this one of the best ones here.

I am so sick and tired of all the stupid hype around lackluster Blue Ginger. So I was super super excited to find this little treasure also in Bellevue. Its a cute little place and about a dollar cheaper than anything you can get at Blue Ginger and the quality is so much better. We got tofu soups ~ I got kimchee + pork and the dad got seafood. My mom got japchae and we got a kalbi to share between all three of us. The little side dishes came a little late and they were all pretty light side dishes. I'm used to having pickled everything Oo; with some of the potato salad that I adore (heart) but they didn't have that. It was a good variety but for people looking for something a little heavier and more spicy - I wouldn't hold out for it. The tofu soup came bubbling and relatively spicy (not spicy enough though). And they cracked the egg for you (in front of you) and sprinkled some seaweed on it too. Which is nice and a huge step up from Blue Ginger. Granted, it may seem Blue Ginger is busier but I have to say that Seoul Hot Pot was just as packed and I went around 2 pm. The kalbi seemed like a smaller serving than the one at Blue Ginger and the sauce was delightful. It was the perfect balance between sweet and salty. I enjoyed it ~ aside from the fact there was too much bone making it a little harder to enjoy it without looking like a complete savage. Japchae is on the sweeter side ( but then its a relatively sweet dish to begin with ) but I really enjoyed it. Just be aware that its a pretty oily dish as well. Service was ... pretty fast and as far as excellent Korean? This is the best you're going to get on the Eastside as of now.

Great place, its one of my favourite korean spots for Soon dubu jigae =) Go here regularly, though they don't have enough tables so they get full pretty quickly. Good food / price ratio too =) Also it passes the asian test- good asian restaurents have asian people eating at them =) Wish they served white rice as an option instead of just brown thought :(

If you're craving Korean food on the East Side, this would be my choice. I've been here once for lunch, and they get pretty busy during the lunch rush. When they get busy, you have to be pretty persistent to get their attention. This is usually what I order when I come here: - Soondubu - Seafood pancake - Fried mackerel - Kalbi OR Bulgogi

I never had tofu soup hot pot until I went to Seoul Hot Pot, so I can't vouch for its authenticity, but I usually look at the patrons get a good idea and this restaurant is always full of Koreans and other Asian so, imho, that's a very good sign that the food is good. The atmosphere is nothing special. It's an open space with tables and chairs but it does lend itself to big groups and sharing food family style. After you order, the waiter or waitress will bring out tea and dishes of various items that are all very tasty. Some examples are kimchee, tempe, shredded pork, and mashed potatoes. There are various types of tofu soup and they all come out hot and bubbly with a side of purple rice. The rice is SO good. No mater which type you get you also have the option of adding seaweed and and egg. I highly recommend both. I'm also a bit of a spice wuss so I get mine pretty mild. If you're not in the mood for hot pot, their kalbi and bulgogi beef dishes are also very tasty. They also come out on sizzing platters and are served with rice. The restaurant is very clean and the service is very fast. However, unless you speak Korean, don't expect to get into indepth conversations with the wait staff. They are very efficent and work hard to get you what you need, but they're all business.

Their soon du bu was good! On a recent trip to Kirkland, WA, I made it a point to find good Korean food since there is none in Oregon. So, I looked to my trusty restaurant guide, Yelp. After searching Korean restaurants in the area, Seoul Hot Pot seemed to be at the top of the list. Typical layout of most Korean joints, clean and simple. The wait staff was...well, a wait staff. Nothing overly friendly, probably all family owned and operated. Ordered the kimchee soon du bu and the spicy pork. Had a bit of a wait, but the warm tea kept us company on this cold, windy Washington day. The soon du bu was very good. I'd go out on a limb and say that it was the best I've had anywhere in Washington and Oregon. They definitely use a little MSG for that hidden flavor, but it was not a deal breaker since no MSG usually equals bland. Well, at least for soon du bu's. But yeah, it was definitely good as was the spicy pork. The pork was cooked to perfection and delivered on a bed of onions on a sizzling pan. Very spicy and sweet, which reminded me of Korean food in Hawaii. Seoul Hot Pot gets my 5 star 2 thumbs up approval. Next time I'm in the area, I'll definitely stop by.

First time here. Place is nice and pleasant. Glad to see Korean restaurant that doesn't serve Korean BBQ in buffet style. Found menu to have traditional items that I haven't tried in years. Too bad my stomach is not bigger.

This place delivers food that is great tasting, and doesn't skimp on banchan. The prices are cheap, and remind me of real Korean food. While not perfect, it satisfies the Korean food craving one can get every now and then. If it were more expensive, I'd give it three stars, but price sets them apart.

I was a regular customer of this place. My bf and I love their tofu soup and other dishes. We used to go to Seattle before we found this place. The korean lady there was really nice and attentive. But the owner and chef changed recently. We noticed the change since we got into the restaurant because the place wasn't as crowded as other times. Service: Waiters are either unexperienced or don't care. The food took too long. Food: I ordered seafood pancake, tofu soup and fish with kimchi. I can't compare the last dish because it's my first time ordering it. But for other dishes, the food is not as tasty as before. Overall probably alright for most people but if you had the previous one before, you won't enjoy it much.

Okay, so before today, I would go to this place for my fixing of soon dooboo jigae... but watching the 2 servers today as we sat next to the service station... These people do NOT care about cleanliness (strange for Koreans) or the patrons they are serving. If you ate here tonight around 6:30 PM.. you are welcome because I saved you from that waiter with a moustache that dropped 4 plastic glasses onto the nasty wet rug (I know it was wet because I watched him as the hot water faucet continuously ran water on it... hello? Mold?!) and then proceeded to pick them up, line them up on the counter and was about to pour water from a pitcher in one to serve to a new table!!!~ I stopped him! So there goes my Korean go-to-stop on the east side... I'll now have to make the trek to BCD tofu house in Lynwood. I really can't stand people that don't take pride in their work. Especially in the service industry... go get another job.

Almost like my mom's cooking. Anytime I'm in the mood for some hot and spicy Korean soup this is the place to go. It's spiced just the way it's suppose to be. They are generous with the banchas (which are the little side dishes) and all of it is so tasty. I normally get the seafood soondubo which is consistently delicious and filling. I always leave with a smile on my face. I've only been there for lunch and it's usually crowed, so come early to beat the rush.

  • Matt S.

It's understaffed, but the food is generally very good and it's reasonably priced. The kimchi jiggae is my favorite, but most of the dishes that I've tried are good except for the hot and spicy cod - oddly enough, it was totally bland. All in all, a great casual Korean place.

  • Torch S.

Disappointed at best. Months back I came for soondubu, and it was okay. I had better, but since it wasn't easy to find a good Korean restaurant on eastside I decided to trust the reviews. Result was mediocre. With recent visits however, the service has gotten worse, soondubu had no flavors and Haemul Pajoen (seafood cake) didn't smell fresh. And service? Waitstaff try hard but they don't have enough time to be nice to everyone. Maybe because I'm very used to good Korean food from California or at home, but this is not how Korean food should taste like. If you have Korean or Asian friends and wants to impressive them, do NOT bring them here. If I ever HAVE TO visit here again, and think that they deserve more than two stars, I will update this review. Until then, my quest for finding a good Korean restaurants continues.

I love this place. Went there the other day and everything was yummy. We got kimchi soup, tofu soup (number 2) and kimchi pancake. Everyday was so good. The tofu soup came with lots of seafood (they use dried shrimp though) and the broth was yummy- so rich and flavorful. They also included an egg and seaweed with the soup. The kimchi soup was so yummy too, and very spicy. They added enoki mushroom and rice cake to the soup, which is a plus! The kimchi pancake was probably my favorite dish. It came a little burned but I didn't mind! Lots of kimchi and pork. I was literally in heaven. We were stuffed after leaving and the bill was around 31-35 with tip. That's pretty cheap. My only "complaint" is that their side dishes are not very unique, they were rather boring, but still good. I highly recommend this place! ***The service was very prompt. They would refill your water, bring you your dishes etc . . . but don't except small talk.

Came back after having a craving for some Bibimbap. The banchan was much better this time around. The kimchi was cold and not warm like that last. The Bibimbap was good, but It's not hard to make this dish. It's a bunch of vegetables and an egg in a large bowl. You add the rice and gochujang (hot sauce). The egg was extremely undercooked. It was about 80% runny. I took the egg out so it was fine, but it's little things like cooking an egg that drives me nuts about restaurants. Cooking an egg is elementary. I'll give them one more star than last time, but it's still just a mediocre and overpriced Korean restaurant.

Yummmm Tofu Soup!!!! My friends and I went here after a cold day on the ski mountain, and it truly hit the spot!! Bubbling hot spicy tofu soup and BBQ pork on the side. I love the way Korean restaurants always serve mini appetizer dishes and a side of rice with your food :)

Updated review!!! Wonderful surprise. Not only delicious, but extremely reasonable. Spicy monk fish, Black Cod, Jeng Ban Noodles are among my favorites. Looking forward to trying mixed pork feet next time (it may sound nasty, but pork feet if really good if prepared correctly. Definite upgrade and one of the best Korean joints in not only the Eastside, but the whole state.

The food here is delicious. I've been back so many times. A few things they do differently though are that whenever something says it comes with rice, it is usually served on the side. So a bibimbap which is usually meat and veggies on a bed of rice comes separately. The bibimbap looked like it had small portions and was not served in a stone pot to keep it nice and warm so that is one entree I would not recommend. Things I do recommend are: Seafood pancake--huge, great for sharing Kimchi mackerel--huge entree, looked like one whole fish and a lot of kimchi Tofu soups--normal, nothing special compared to other Korean places Jap chae--glassy noodles with veggies and bits of meat, addicting Tuna chirashi bowl--tons of fresh tuna on top of lettuce and served with rice, a good complement to a spicy entree and for $10 they give you a good amount of fish I have been waiting to try the ginseng chicken but they are always out and I've tried 3x. I'm not sure why it is so popular but apparently it comes with a small chicken.

Went here for lunch the other day and as soon as the doors opened we were greeted by a friendly young man who was kind and accommodating. I was there with my 15 month old and my two friends with their 12 month old babies. The banchan was great and had good variety. We all ordered hot pots and they brought out boiling hot SoonDuBu and cracked an egg in it, delicious! You could tell it is a popular place because soon after we arrived tables began filling up. We took this as our cue to get going after an hour lunch. Great atmosphere and food. The prices are so good and the hotpot is as good as it gets.

Mmm, this is definitely the best Korean I've stumbled upon on the Eastside of the lake [thanks for the recs, Yelpers!] I came in at 1:45, early enough the lunch menu was still available, late enough that the Microsoft people were gone -- who was there? Asian people, in droves. Yep, me, the awkward white girl sitting there nommin' on banchan like it was going out of style. I had the dweji bulgogi, which is my standby/the item on which I base everything else on. It was tasty, and yep, was pretty much the exact same thing as I had my first time eating Korean, up at Hosoonyi, five years ago. Yum. The lunch portions were reasonably priced -- 8 and change for a huge enough portion that there is enough leftover in my fridge for my boyfriend's dinner. Knowing that this place is just a 5 minute bus ride from my house? It's a dangerous knowledge to my wallet, but knowledge is delicious power! Mmm.

Seen better, tasted better, was serviced better. This place COULD do better but I can't help but return to this restaurant for a occasional tofu soup. =)

It's so difficult to get decent Korean food in the Bellevue Redmond area. This place can easily satisfy your craving for good Korean food. The tofu soups are tasty, they come out nice and bubbling hot. The cooked meats are also very nice as well as some of their seafood dishes. Dinner time usually gets pretty crowded, especially on weekends. The service can be unpredictable, but you eventually get what you want.

I came here with my friend who's Korean and between the two of us, we managed to order a lot of food. We got the soy bean paste soup, the jap chae, and the kalbi. The jap chae was AMAZING. I absolutely loved it and my friend said that it was very similar to what her mom makes, so I am assuming that it's pretty authentic here. The Kalbi was good and so was the soybean soup which I enjoyed. I will say that while their bahn chans were good, I have had better. Regardless, I liked the place and will be going back there again the next time I am in the area.

A decent place to grab a "Sun Du Bu" (hot soup with tofu) dish. Much better than their competitors around town. This joint uses quality ingredients (read fresh) where as their competitors such as BCD Tofu House provides more quantity with less quality. Given the choice I always go for quality =) They have good hot tofu soup and reasonable service for a restaurant in this price range. But nothing spectacular. Bill typically comes to about $20 for two of us.

Oh man, the kimchee chi gae at Seoul Hot Pot kicks ass. I come here for lunch around once a week and I usually order kim chee chi gae. Since I don't eat mammal, I ask for them to make it vegetarian. As with many Asian places, if you ask for "vegetarian" you might still get pork (maybe pork is a special class of plant. Who knows)--so you might also want to say "no meat". The service here is very good and the staff is friendly. Service is fast for a sit-down place. Plus, you will get all kinds of appetizer treats to go along with your lunch.

Get there before noon if you are going for lunch, it fills up quick! This was my first experience with Korean food and it wont be my last. I had the seafood pancake, it was really tasty and BIG, the food portions are giant. I love the sides they bring, great for sharing. Almost everyone in the place was eating a hot pot so next time I go that is what I will try! Great service, great price and a great eastside location!

Yep, this is the real deal. If you're from a plain vanilla rural background like me, you might be put off by some of the ingredients, but trust me, this food in simply fantastic. If you're Asian, you're going to be in Heaven as there are so many things that you've loved for a long time. I went yesterday with a co-worker who's Chinese and she loved it. She had the seafoot hot pot and I had the pork and musroom hot pot. We shared a seafood pancake (which I'd had before and knew just how tasty it was). The pickled and fresh condiments were a happy stretch for my taste buds.

My new favorite Korean restaurant. Love their bulgogi and seafood pancake. And last time we tried a cold noodle salad that was ginormous! Check out what I mean: ling.swingvine.com/view?… . I took it home and have been chipping away at it daily, but I'm still not done! The service here is also quite friendly, fast, and helpful. There was another Korean place I used to like but they had slow, cold service. Seoul Hot Pot has now taken the crown.

I would have to agree with the statement that this is the best tofu soup on the eastside. The kalbi is also good. The two combined are priceless!

My favorite Korean place on the Eastside. The soups are always delicious, and the side dishes are never disappointing. This is defintely a place to check out, especially on a cold, rainy day. My personal favorite here is the Bi Bim Bap (even though it's not a soup). The jap chae is also pretty good.

I wish I could give this place no stars at all because my husband and I left this place without eating because the service was horrible. The young rude waitress was looking at her phone while seating us and dropped the silverware and what not. We reached the restaurant at five minutes past two and were handed the menus. When the waitress came back to take our order she said that we could only order from the dinner menu and pulled out the lunch menu from us. We asked her to go ask if we could still order lunch and she said no. We even asked her "who has dinner at 2". I think she needs to be fired.

The first time we came, the food was ok but the service was terrible. The second time, we came the food and service are getting much better. This place is definitely better Korean restaurant in Bellevue. My favorite food in here is beef and mushroom soft tofu. I usually asked them to make it a bit spicy (3 stars). I tried 5 stars once but I paid the price the day after would never try that again.

There are few places in Redmond where you actually see a ton of Koreans, Japanese, Chinese and Asian people in general eating at all day, everyday. This is one of those places and for good reason. They're food is delicious! Awesome Korean soups and tasty side dishes all at a very good price! Check this place out!

We found this place only because it was next to Sapporo. After reading all the other reviews, looks like we lucked out ordering the Spicey Hot Tofu soup. It was awesome! Rice was also great as it was mixed with a hint of lavender (I think). Bulgogi was delicious as well. I'm giving 4 stars right now for the soup, service, and price, but will reserve the 5th star for whether or not they have dol sot bi bim bap. Going to verify that on our next trip.

I walked in this restaurant expecting a hot pot in the center of every table - turns out that wasn't it, but that was alright. The service wasn't that good in my opinion. After being seated with a cup of tea and a menu in our hands, the waitress did not come back until I waved her over. I think we waited for at least 15 minutes before getting her attention. I ordered my favorite fish at Korean restaurants: Mackerel. It was deliciously fried! For that price, I think it was very well worth it. I had two pieces of the fish and it wasn't fishy *at all*. My friend ordered the Korean BBQ (Bulgogi) and it was served on a sizzling dish. Just the sound itself was spectacular! Food was authentic and I highly recommend it! The only thing that I complain of is the service. Also, they never came to fill our cups with tea. Good thing our dishes weren't *that* spicy.

Hot Spicy Tofu soup is the best antidote for Seattle weather! I love SoonDuBu and this is the only place we've been able to find it on the Eastside. Otherwise, we drive to Lynnwood for more authentic Korean food. Cost a little bit more than SoonDuBu at other places, but good quality food and cheap (for all the food you get) compared to average meals on the Eastside. It can get packed at peak hours. Very clean. Fast service.

Food challenge -- Seoul Hot Pot vs. Hosoonyi! Upstart Seoul Hot Pot in Redmond is gaining ground quickly. Could it be that the former Hosoonyi owner has taken lessons learned at Hosoonyi and improved upon them? Can you take a success and better the concept? Well, I think so. Here are my thoughts. Service- At Hosoonyi, you have that traditional frustration to get a server to actually serve your table. I have been going to Hosoonyi since 1997 and believe me their service has gotten very bad. There are none of that server attitude at Seoul Hot Pot. Everyone is so friendly and good at making sure you don't have to ask for anything. Asking for something doesn't make you feel like you are bothering them. Location- Seoul Hot Pot is in an area close to 520 in a neighborhood mall somewhat across from Overlake Mall. You can visit Macy*s Furniture store while waiting. Note both are very close to Safeway, that's probably just a coincidence. The standard for Korean food on the eastside has just been raised. They have no other true competition. Selection- She has added more items. For example, chop chae, another pan juhn, jige, and a spicy chicken BBQ are now on the menu. If she could add mandoo (Korean dumplings) and bin da dok (mung bean pancake), I would be in Korean heaven. Food- The ban chan is even better. I saw a cucumber kimchi. Never had that at Hosoonyi. Had to go to BCD to eat that. Taste-wise, she's still got it! Recently at Hosoonyi, my pan juhn was raw in the center. Forget asking them to re-cook it. Never had that problem at Seoul Hot Pot. Price- Lower than Hosoonyi. Hosoonyi has raised their prices more than once recently. The Verdict- Seoul Hot Pot has clearly improved on the Hosoonyi concept. I won't be back there unless I'm up north. Seoul Hot Pot is the all-out winner. Hope to see you there!

I've been here a number of times and tried a variety of dishes. The spicy bbq pork is -hands down- my favorite dish and I can't go here without ordering it. Honestly, I think about it all day long and look forward to having it for dinner. That's how good it is! The other dishes I've tired are the mackerel, the spicy soups, pancakes and bibimbap. For the most part, all the dishes are pretty good (considering location), but not the best I've had. Service can be on the slow side even when they're not busy and I'm really not sure why. I'd probably give this place 5 stars if they could get that aspect together. Overall, this place is good, cheap and convenient.

My husband and I had chose this place after seeing the review in yelp. The place was pretty crowded on a Friday evening. We had Mackerel fry and Prawn pan cake.Te food was too bland and very different in taste. We order soup, fried fish and prawn pancakes. Most of them where very greasy. I felt the prawn pancake was oily. This restaurant is not my kind. For some reason I did not like their taste.

One of my favorite places to eat on the Eastside. Good food, if not spectacular, but I've enjoyed all of my usual favorite Korean dishes, including the seafood pancake, tofu soup, etc. The portions are filling, and the prices extremely reasonable. There's nothing especially great, but Seoul Hot Pot pretty much has the only game in town, unless you're willing to go up to Lynnwood. I expect that were there to be more competition in Korean foods, the rating might only be a 3, but as it is, I'm definitely a fan.

Do you like Korean food!?? If you do - this is a MUST TRY!! This Seoul Hot Pot is actually around the corner in a "strip mall" shared with Teapot restaurant. Its next to Performance bikes and the Mayuri Indian market. The food is soooo Fantastic! The na mul assortment (small little dishes meant to be shared by everyone at table) is Really Good! My meat eater friends love the Kal bi (beef ribs) and the BulGogi (seared chop beef) so much that they actually want to lick the sauce off the iron plate it comes in. (bizarre... but that's what they tell me!) I usually eat the vegetarian version of BiBimBap - without the beef. I ask them to substitute the beef for an extra fried egg. The bibimbap has a slew of vegetables (na mul) thrown in a bowl with a fried sunny side up egg. They give you a bowl of rice on the side that you put into the bowl of na mul. Then you pour the Hot sauce over the rice, egg, and veggies in the bowl and MIX everything up! The Bibimbap sauce is very good! Adds a great flavor to the dish. Another dish I love is called - chop chae (rice noodles with stir fried veggies). This is great for those who need a "Gluten Free" entree. I ask them for the vegetarian version... "NO Meat, please tell cook to wash out the wok before cooking" ... This comes out PERFECT!! Has the perfect combination of umami and sweetness. Yummm. I haven't tasted any meat derivatives (meat/poultry fat, etc) thus far. A lot of the other Korean restaurants don't accommodate vegetarians very well, but this place does! It's Fantastic! Food 5 Service 4 Decor and Ambience 4 Cleanliness 4

I came here for my second time, and I followed a Yelper's review and I tried the Bossam which was a dish that cost about $20. It contained some tough cold Napa, boiled hot pork, and cold radish with nasty, fishy tasting oysters. DO NOT ORDER THIS. It really spoiled my meal, but I just wanted to taste it since it was one of their specials.

I love this place. It's suburban strip-mall ethnic dining at it's best- delicious food, friendly service and awesome kim chi. The pork kimchi stew has generous chunks of meat and comes bubbling to your table, and the kalgi is a glorious pile of sizzling meat magic. Totally worth the trek to Bellevue.

Yum! We've been here several times and today on this cold winter day I had the Kimchee soup and it was exactly what I needed. It was spicy and very hot (boiling infact as the server brought it to the table) and it tasted great! Surprisingly they also served us the typical Korean little plates of tofu and pickle veggies that they serve you when you get more full (expensive) dishes so this was a great lunch value, too with a lot of healthy spicy and yummy food. Since this place opened we don't have to go so far (Seattle or Newport) for good Korean food, which we love.

You know, I probably wouldn't have ever considered eating hot tofu soup on a hot day like today in Seattle (it was about 79F, sue me, I'm a true Seattlite), if it weren't for my cousin recommending this place. I do like my korean food, so I thought, why the heck not... To my surprise, the food was pleasantly good. It didn't wow me, but perhaps I ordered more conservatively. The mushroom and pork tofu soup was pretty darn good, and my friend's seafood/beef tofu soup looked equally appetizing. Didn't see many people ordering other stuff, but maybe I'll try it next time. This is a pretty good place to go for lunch. The $8 tofu soup lunch "suggestions" are pretty darn good. Comes with a nice set of appetizers, but not as many as Hoo Soon Yi gives you. Still pretty good nonetheless. I will give this word of advice though. I'm not sure if it was because we sat in the far corner next to the door or not, but service was a little... absent for much of our time there. "If you can find a korean to go with, you'll probably get much better service." A little advice when going to any korean restaurant. I don't know why, but it's kinda true.

We missed the lunch menu by 10 minutes and were not given a break. This started things off on the wrong food. Fortunately things started to turn around when the g/f and I were not that hungry (a rare occurrence) and that we were willing to share a meal (even rarer of an occurrence). The portions of the bee-bim-bop were plenty substantial for two some-what hungry people. The general quality of the food was noting short of decent but was far from stupendous. I'll note here that we actually want to go to Malay Satay Hut, but it apparently closes on Fridays.

i thought i reviewed this place but i guess not. i've been here a few times for their awesome soon dubu soups. they really freakin' hit the spot on a dreary winter day!! crazy hot (spice and temp wise). i wasn't too keen on the bulgogi i had there, tho. pajeon was only meh too. i recently discovered they also serve the cold noodle in broth (i don't know what it's called in korean) now for the summer. oh hells yeah! i love this stuff and now i don't hafta trek my *ss down to flippin' federal way for a bowl. get an order of kalbi to go with it (sadly, not available as a combo) and you're in business. not cheap but definitely satisfies my cravings. booyaa.

MSG Heaven, I call it. I had to drink about 1 gallon of water after visiting here every time. Generally they have good Korean food, but all the flavor seems to come from MSG. I experienced better naturally flavored Korean food else where. I tried lot of different dishes here, seems to me all the menus lost it's own flavor from ingridients. I figured its not worth the wait especially at lunch time.

So I came back and it was much better the second time around. My recommendation to anyone is to order the tofu soup a little spicier. It tastes better that way. I had a 4/5 and while it was on the spicy side, it was definitely an improvment from my first visit.

Trying to decide where to eat dinner with a group of friends, one of them suggested the Seoul Hot Pot. Thinking that it was the traditional "hot pot," where you cook raw foot in a broth at the table, I was confused to hear that this wasn't the case, but it was infact a Korean BBQ. Not really sure what to expect, I was pretty impressed with the food. A group of 10 of us ordered some soups, a couple seafood pancakes, and a couple meat dishes. The food was extraordinary in any way, but it was definitely good! I really enjoyed the seafood pancake! The edges were crisp, and they were generous on the seafood portions. The variety of side dishes was also exciting. They seem to compliment the meal nicely. The service was alright. They took a while to refill our waters, but they were pleasant. I will give it 4 stars because I appreciated the service, and the food and side dishes were filling and tasty! However...I am now trying to recover from a sore back side and minor stomach pains that I acquired from the hot seafood tofu soup =/

I tried: - #1 - Suhk-Uh-Soon-Du-Bu ($7.95) = Soft Tofu Soup with Clams, Prawns, Oysters and Beef: I ordered my Soondubu 3-stars hot, which wasn't too spicy, This is rainy day comfort food, The prawns are the smallest I've seen in nature, and you'll have to remove the exoskeletons; The broth doesn't have strong seafood flavors... - # 34 Yuk-Gae-Jang ($9.95) = Hot Seasoned Beef Brisket Soup with Green Onions: My view is that this is an overpriced Soondubu offering; the brisket is plentiful but is overpowered by spicy broth; it also has clear noodles Instead, consider the Soondubu soups with beef, which are $2.00 cheaper. Each dish includes 6 banchee servings, the best of which is the Fish Cakes and Kimchi [ask for refills, if you have the appetite] and a purple-colored rice. I'll be back for Stir Fry Octopus, recommended by my gracious waiter....

This is a favorite of mine not too far from work... I love the seafood pancake and the tofu soups as well as the banchan (my favorites being the sweet potato one and a tofu dish). The service can be a bit hit or miss. Sometimes really unfriendly and you left wondering when they're going to come back or can you just get up and serve water yourself...other times really great.

I have to revise my rating of this restaurant. I gave this place five stars previously. It's unfortunate. This place has been my favorite Korean restaurant for last year and half or so. The food WAS really good. Last few visits, the food was becoming less and less flavorful. I told myself "oh, maybe they just had a new chef...or having a bad day...". But my last visit there, I lost my hope. Food was flavorless and I was very disappointed. It wasn't just my imagination, my friend agreed to my statement. It's sad. I hope I can revise my rating back again to five stars!

There aren't many Korean spots in Redmond, so I'm glad I was able to find a place I like that wasn't too overly priced. Their soon du bu is tasty as well as their bulgogee, seafood pancake and bi bim bap. They do get quite busy for lunch so be prepared to wait a bit, but it is worth it.

I freaking love this place. This is "that place" that my friends are tired of coming to because I always suggest we go here. So sadly enough, I eat here for lunch by myself on many occasions during the work week. (Or I talk my unknowing coworkers into joining me.) The grand attraction would be the soon dobu jigae. The soup is always piping hot, full of fresh vegetables and tofu, and there must be a pinch of crack in there because I spend nights thinking about it. Or maybe it's MSG (note to MSG-haters, I don't know if they actually use MSG.)

So I have gone here three times already (yep three). So the good stuff, the food is really good sans bee bim bap (stay away, it is horrid). Our favorite is the stir fried clear noodles YUM YUM. The Tofu soup is awesome too. We (all 3.5 of us) come for weekend lunches and are full with only two dishes. You cannot bea the deal at 20$, not even in McDonalds. The bad side, some dishes are just awful (did I say stay away from the bee bim bap) and the service is condensending and slow. We will surely go again

Easter Sunday Korean Style. Brunchin it with soondubu. Heyyyyyyyyy. The excitement steadily fades after being seated.... I'm always down to eat korean and support my peoples with their establishments. But today the lack of service really disappointed me. It took forever and a day to get our bahn chan (side dishes) & hot tea to the table. People that came in after us started feasting on their spicy tofu soup, grilled meats, and kimchi....drool...the smell alone starts salivation..and I stared at our empty table in dismay. I thought speaking in Korean would help w/ speedin things up. But whats the deal?? No response. Todays wait staff- lethargic. SMILE people. The food itself was OKAY. Not bad, I wasn't impressed. I had gone there for the first time a week prior and it was better. Maybe an off day. But poor enough service for me to YELP about it. One good thing came out of it. I was eating with my friend and two of her friends~ and one of em happened to be fellow Yelper! I may have been a little too ecstatic about that. :)

A couple friends dragged me here for lunch, and while I had my doubts that I'd enjoy it, I must say that I was surprised. First, the side dishes that they give you are really yummy. An awesome selection of different dishes. The fish cakes and the squid are both awesome, and I love me some kim chi. One of my friends knew that you could ask for seconds, but be warned: After you ask for thirds, they threaten to start charging you. =X The soups were good. I have to say that seeing the entire shrimp (head attached, shell on) was a bit strange for me (and I'm pretty adventurous!), but I tried it and it wasn't that bad. Just... quite... fishy. But ultimately the soup was tasty, and the meal was super cheap and quite filling. I'll definitely go back, but I don't see craving the food anytime soon.

This my favorite Korean restaurant on the Eastside. Very good food. The jap chae and spicy chicken bulgogi is the best I've had. The large portions and wide selection of complementary side dishes keeps me coming back for more! Their rice is also very good and memorable as it has a lavender tint. Everytime I go it's busy. I'm not the one who loves this place. ;)

I would dare to say that the soondobu tofu soup is on par. Its one of the best in the greater Seattle area. I have had their bibimbap and its good but nothing to write home about. Service was on point and extrememly helpful. The only negative are the side dishes. They are not that amazing and to be perfectly honest, boring. This is a regular spot for my coworkers and i on a rainy day for their awesome tofu soup.

Bul go gi seemed like it had more fat than meat. Side dishes were extremely unimpressive. You can find places in U-district (actually, any place in the u-district) that serve better quality at a much cheaper price.

So I went back recently for lunch and ordered off of the lunch menu. My hubby had the dwae ji bulgogi and I had yu kae jang. The bulgogi was soooo freakin gooey and sugary and my soup was flavorless but way too spicy and peppery. (I can handle heat by the way, I'm half Korean.) Also my dish didn't have noodles in it. I've never had yu kae jang without noodles! I felt that they over-used cheap ingredients to flavor their dishes. I left my food mostly uneaten and ran over to get some Taiwanese buns to curb my hunger (Regent Bakery).

I just recently moved to Bellevue and have been looking for a quality Korean restaurant in the area. After last night's dinner at Seoul Hot Pot, I think I just found my go-to spot. I ordered the Kimchi Soondubu and I have 0 complaints. The soondubu was hot and savory, while the side dishes added the perfect addition to the main meal. In addition, I enjoyed the young, energetic ambience of the restaurant! In my honest opinion, I don't think there's a Korean restaurant that truly competes with Seoul Hot Pot in the area. Lastly, the price of this dinner was excellent, given that food in the Bellevue/Redmond area can be a little expensive. All in all, I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for some authentic Korean food!

Some girlfriends and I came here for dinner, thinking we were going to indulge in some delicious KBBQ, but alas, they no longer let you grill your own meat here. It was an unfortunate turn of events, but we still managed to eat our way thru shortribs, bulgogi, beef bibimbap, japchae, and some kimchi soonduboo. The shortribs, bibimbap, and tofu soup were the stars of the meal, while the japchae and bulgogi were pretty underwhelming. It just wasn't what i wanted.

Girlfriend and I seeked this spot out after not wanting to drive to federal way for some Korean food. We ordered the spicy beef and squid stir fry, and the kimchi mandu jeongol. The stir fry was good, and the jeongol was tasty, but lacked in the ingredients. The mandu was too soft so all of them broke open. But overall was a good meal and definitely was packed around dinner time. My big gripe is that the server didnt speak ANY korean, and couldnt explain the difference between any given dish. I could honestly care less. But not a good look in my opinion.

The food was pretty good and the tofu in particular was very good. The service was slow because the service staff was understaffed. This is on the owners. I'd really give a 3.5 overall and a 4 for the food. Not sure if I'd go out of my way to come back here.

Had the three types of mushroom veggie bi bap hot stone means it doesn't come with egg. However the mushrooms tastes very sweet and yummy. They use a very tasty rice unlike other Korean restaurants. The macaroon salad is my favorite side dish. The servers are really nice! So far this is my favorite bi bap if they had egg too then that just perfect! This is my new favorite Korean restaurant!

Ok. I just got my order. I ordered seafood Bim bi bap. I never seen a seafood less seafood Bim bi bap. One tiny small piece of squid. Can u see it? You have to look very hard. I try to cancel it and they said no. Crazy. I ask where is the other seafood. They pointed one couple tiny tiny shrimp that I can barely see. Can u see it? I can't. This place is a joke. Never coming back.

I love Korean food (especially kimchi) and their culture! I've always wanted to try this place and sadly it wasn't what I expected. I tried their kimchi soup with pork and noodles. I wasn't very satisfied with the taste. Not enough pork and barely any noodles. Just A LOT of broth. They lacked the ingredients for the soup. Service was a bit cold. I might have to try another dish.

Delicious food and great service. I like how the food came with many side dishes. We try to order something new this time and it was great. The restaurant looks clean and food came faster than I expected.

I had a Korean roomie at school and enjoyed her food. We went here when she was visiting and ordered a lot of dishes, good thing they have a lot of vegetarian options. I absolutely loved the food here! The soup and the pancake was so darn yumm!

We were returning customers over the years. Food quality dropped terribly. My wife was sick after our last visit and puked the whole lunch back out. Staff was horrendous. At a point of time I made my wife observe that all 3 waiters and waitresses were on their cellphones not paying attention to the customers. She replied pointing out that the cook was out on the terrace looking at his cellphone as well. The new menu pictured salad plate did not match what was delivered; the entrée turned out to be a 3 or 4 people large tray. Good value? If and only if that salad wasn't a total disaster. Couldn't eat it.

The owner/manager seems to have changed, again. Seems to now attract rude customers. The food is sub-par. And the waiter should learn to attend to customers in the order in which the've been seated.

It's been awhile since I have been to this Korean restaurant. Unfortunately, my last experience wasn't very good. We were seated at a table that the server had to keep asking us to get up because they were unable to service the table next to us. After we got our food, we had to get up again so they could seat people at the bbq table next to us. The server never came back to check on us and our tea was never refilled. We never got plates or our banchan. Our Bossam came out fast but the pork belly slices were cut extra thick and extra fatty. It was hard to wrap the meat in the Napa. It was so delicious before but now it is subpar. Perhaps another server would have helped.

I've eat at this place after a friend's recommendation. I visited on a Monday night, and there were many people here dining. 3 people had Bossam, Bulgogi hotpot soup, and Oh-Sam (Squid-Port Belly). Oh-Sam was spicy and yet sweet which I thoroughly enjoyed. Bossam came with plenty of meat, kimchi, and napa which we couldn't even finish at the end. Bulgogi hotpot soup was decent as well. They give plenty of side-dishes that is refilled throughout. I will definitely come back here again and try other dishes.

Not the best Korean option around here--I'd say this ranks at the bottom of my Bellevue/Redmond Korean list (Southgate, Blue Ginger, Stone), but it's still tolerable. I actually liked their spicy Korean fried chicken a little better than Stone's, which I wasn't expecting since Stone serves Chicky Pub which I loved. Other than that, I had the spicy naengmyon (cold noodles) and my mother had the mild tofu soup. The spicy naengmyon actually wasn't bad, but by the time all of the ice melted, it diluted the flavor and was pretty bland. The mild tofu was surprisingly good, but oddly enough, their rice was all wrong. Korean rice is supposed to be a little sticky, but here it was not. And on that note, the side dishes weren't impressive by any means.

  • Juyoung L.

To be honest, since I am Korean I am pretty picky about Korean restaurants. Korean restaurants in Bellevue are obviously not as good as the ones in Federal Way and Lynnwood but this place is probably one of the most decent ones in Bellevue. The bibimbap, tofu soups and spicy pork was all very good. My boyfriend ordered the bibimbap, it lacked a little bit more sesame oil but the vegetables were very fresh. The tofu soup wasn't too bad, it was a bit spicy and their proportions of tofu, pork and everything was on spot. The spicy pork was a bit smaller than I expected but it was very good, a bit chewy but they marinated it really well. The side dishes are nothing too special but their tofu and potato ones are pretty yummy.

Note: I have yet to try their BBQ. [Take-out Service] I like this place. I think their service and their food match -- let alone, I have always received consistency between those two things. In my opinion, the restaurant's average rating is underrated as this restaurant continues to outshine the rest I've tried in this area. Service is fast and friendly (aka exactly what I want). They have made great suggestions for my "adventurous" days. The waiters and waitresses are very helpful. Also, their takeout service is great! Food is still fresh and organized. Dishes Ordered: Seafood Pancake, short ribs, japchae.

Spice level is below average, if you like it hot, make sure you ask. We all had the tofu soup of some sort. The soup is really delicious and full of tofu. The service is good and we were able to get constant water refills and side dishes. Today, however the side dishes were not great both in quality, taste and variety. Hopefully it's just a fluke and next time w come, I can up the stars for this review because everything else was very goodI

Have eaten at Seoul Hot Pot about once a year for several years. This time we chose take-out. The food was once a treat - robust and spicy. This time the dishes were disappointments; either something has changed or it was an off night. FOOD: 3.0 - Seafood pancake: 3.5. - Pan-broiled Kim-chi with Tofu and Pork: 2.0. Tasted healthy, but unusually bland for Korean fare. - Pan-broiled octopus: 1.0. Very strange taste - sugary with spice. - small dishes (beans, kimchi, etc). The kimchi disappointed. AMBIANCE: 2.5 We had take-out this time, but have eaten in many times in past. Not bad--resembles cafeteria seating and density. SERVICE: 4.0

Do note that the levels of spiciness are lower than other restaurants. I got regular spicy and it was very faint, probably will go for the extra spicy one next time. Seafood Tofu Soup - 3/5. Can't complain about this at all :] It's a pretty standard option at many korean restaurants and here they make it just like the other places! It's nice that an egg is included (brown rice as well). I do have plans to come back and check out their other menu options.

  • Sheng M.

I haven't tried the barbecue here, but they have good soon doo bu. Side dishes are pretty good too. It's my Korean go-to on the east side. Make sure you have plenty of time as they tend to run a little on the slower side for service, but they are super sweet. Also, the two-seater tables are tiny!!! You can only order one dish each since the side dishes take up the rest of the space. Not a good space for a large group, but do-able.

Total rip off. $25 for a small dish of galbi? The menu had a hand written price that made it look like it was $15. Give me a break. It was not spectacular done in any way to justify the cost.

This Korean restaurant is located in a strip mall with a lot of other Asian shops. There was a moderate crowd during lunch hours. I got the dolsot bi bim bap. I thought the beef did not taste that good - it was hard and flavorless - but the rest of the pot was good. Some of the rice stuck to the bottom of the pot (dol sot) and I liked the abundance of carrots. The soybean paste sauce was good. The bonchon side dishes were okay although they felt a bit sparse. I liked their fishcake! Their combination bento boxes seem odd because they include the bonchon, but we already get bonchon for the table so it seemed a bit of a rip off. The tea is good here.

I've gone here twice, both times when the restaurant was empty besides my boyfriend and I - and we ordered really basic stuff such as the meat bento box and the bibimbap. I really enjoyed what I got (fresh + crispy + flavorful) as I'd been really wanting Korean and this hit the spot exactly. No complaints here. I hope my experience here will continue to be this good.

Recently, my kitchen was out of commission due to a plumbing leak. So bad that part of the ceiling wall had to be opened. With the open ceiling sitting right on top of the stove. Since I don't like drywall particulates in my food, I decided to eat out while the issue resolved itself. I decided to finally give Seoul Hot Pot a try. My favorite Korean eatery on the Eastside inside Paldo supermarket recently closed, so I decided to see if Seoul was a worthy replacement. The restaurant is near the Microsoft Redmond campus, so you see a lot of MS workers eating here. I like this because it makes the restaurant feel more casual and easygoing. It was pouring outside so I was pretty convinced that I would get soondubu (tofu soup). But I happened to notice one of the specials on the wall was seafood bibimbap in a stone pot ($11.95) so I decided to be adventurous and give it a try. The meal came with six banchan dishes. Bean sprouts, kim chee, cucumber kim chee, egg scramble, shoestring potatoes and broccoli salad. The banchan was pretty good, though not the most exciting items that I have had. Stil solid fare. The seafood bibimbap in a stone pot is an interesting dish particularly the rice at the bottom. The pot heats the rice so it has a fried rice texture to it that makes it really crispy. A lot of different types of seafood here which was tasty. Though it seemed like it came out of some sort of seafood mix. I did also like the inclusion of enoki mushrooms. Service was okay and what I categorize to be shy. Doesn't seem like they check on how you are doing. Servers bring your food over and then leave you to enjoy. So you would need to call them if you need a water refill. Not sure if they refill the banchan here. Still the amount of food I got was enough to fill me up. In conclusion, I found Seoul Hot Pot to be a decent replacement for Paldo. The food is good, though it is a bit of a no frills type spot.

Went here and got the bulgogi and the kalbi. It was very tasty and the sides were great. Service was fine. We had enough to take home too. Went here when our normal place was too full. It was surprisingly good for a strip mall place. Service was fast and we were in a hurry too. That was great.

This place used to be somewhat decent. But now since ownership changed, it is just terrible. The food quality has declined markedly. Regardless, I decided to give it another try today. And shockingly the food quality is even worse. It is really hard to mess up certain side dishes, but Seoul Hot Pot is able to do so. The food is just bad. And to top it off, we spotted a cockroach crawling up the wall....as if I needed that to lose my appetite. Won't be returning again.

  • Amos Y.

Supposedly the specialty of this place is their soft tofu soup. We ordered the mushroom pork, kimchi beef, and assorted soft tofu soup. The tofu soup is pretty creamy. It has a tasty flavor, but didn't taste much of the mushroom or pork in mine. Still it was pretty delicious. They serve purple rice with it and 6 side dishes, which were pretty fresh and tasty. Service is meh. They get you tea right away. But after they take your order they don't ever come over except to deliver the food. If you want refills on tea, water, or side dishes you need to flag them down.

  • Chakkaradeep C.

Had bento box. I found the food to be OK not good. The miso soup was also average. There are much better places around the town with better Korean food. I found very hard to understand some of the waitress' accent and had to ask twice and listen hard into what they were asking/saying.

  • Robb M.

I'm really beginning to like Redmond, WA... Imagine a bubbling pot of soup coming to your table, and then the waitress cracks a raw egg into it, and adds some dried nori (seaweed). This is the experience when you order soft tofu soup. I had kimchi and pork, while my friends had the seafood soup. All of them were amazing. Just enough spice to get you going, but not so much that it is uncomfortable. Add to that the sides of kimchi dishes that also come to your table, and you have a truly delectable meal. This is one of my new favorites, and I highly recommend it. Next time I want to try the BBQ, but I am not sure that I can pass up the soup...

Can't believe I haven't reviewed this restaurant yet. Anyway, been coming here since 2007 and it is wonderful. I think they changed ownership but the flavor stayed the same. For some reason though, my friend keeps telling me they "saw" a rat in the back but hell I came from a third world country and nothing will deter me from coming here. Besr Korean Food in King County area! My main dish are soft tofu soup with beef and also their Stone hot bibimbap.

  • Kay N.

I been here a few times and I'm surprised I never wrote a review here. The ONLY thing I have ordered here is the tofu soup with rice and Korean side dishes. I think it's really good for the Eastside. The rice is some kind of purple rice which is pretty good. The tofu soup is pretty flavorful and comes with an egg which they crack in front of you and put it in the soup. The side dishes are pretty tasty too. It is an inexpensive meal that leaves you stuffed. The service is okay, not the best but it isn't bad enough to keep me away. I feel service is a hit or miss depending on when you go.

The food is great if you like authentic spicy Korean food. the service is really slow so be prepared to wait... It's the soup nazi kitchen for Asian food..

  • Lily L.

The main reason I like this Korean restaurant is that they serve cold buckwheat noodles year round, unless some places. It's close by and the wait is not that long. My only peeve is that none of the servers really smile. Honestly, them not smiling does not deter me from having a good meal, but if you're going to be in the food industry, you should smile. It makes less people think you hate your job (if that's true). Unless you wave them down or call out to them, the service is not really there. They aren't surveying their restaurant for customer needs and I felt I almost had to look them in the eye to gain their attention. Food is moderately good for a quick bite and it satisfies my occasional desires if I don't want all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ.

  • Nanda L.

I usually come in for lunch and they are pretty pack if you come any later than 11:30-12. The portions are decent and the services are usually fast. For the most part food is good but sometimes the spice level isn't consistent for the tofu soup. Kalbi can be a bit too rare at times as well. It's a good place to grab lunch if you want soup on a rainy day.

Many Korean places around King County offer a diverse menu of soups, entrees, and exotic foreign dishes from this Asian country. But so far, only Seoul Hot Pot has my favorite dish which is Kimchi Jjim - friend kimchi plate with mackerel. YUM!!!! Parking is tough here because the private lot competes with several other businesses so you may have to be ok with walking a little bit, or go at a later time to get better parking. Honestly, not a huge hassle. Another great thing about this place is that the quality is well done. Your food make time a little bit longer to prepare than other Korean restaurants but the taste is worth the wait.

I'm just going to go straight at this... The Good Stuff -Clean -Easy to read menu -Food was pretty good The Bad Stuff - We were rushed into ordering. We were looking for somehting to order, but the waitress just stood there without saying anything. We asked for a minute, but she would literally come back in a minute. - We were given tea when we got there. Did not get a chance to ask for refill after our orders were served. - Asked for two waters, but was only given one. Asked again, and she got side tracked even though there was only one other customer there. -Rushed out. Got the check in the middle of the meal, and was asked to pay... before we were done. (no, it wasnt closing time) Overall this was just a horrible/awkward experience. We were patient, respectful and very courtious. Still was treated poorly when we were the customers. This place gets only one star since I liked the food.

This was my first foray into Korean food as some coworkers brought me along. The food was fresh and very good. The place was small, packed, and tight. I wouldn't bring my kids there, not enough space. We were there during lunch, so other times of the day are probably different. Tables by the door are cold and drafty. Try to get one closer too the kitchen. Service was average at best as they tried to keep up with all the patrons.

Man, my hometown has some awesome restaurants. If you're not jealous, you should be. If this is what authentic Korean food is like, then I'll just take it every day, please. On my first visit to this restaurant, it didn't leave much of an impression on me. Then I came here again and it's really gotten a lot better! I wouldn't mind if all Korean restaurants in the United States from now on were just a copy-and-paste of Seoul Hot Pot. It's not going to be easy to do better! First thing that happened here when I came in was that they started speaking Korean to me. Yeah, I guess I kind of do look Korean, but I'm not. Not a problem, since they understand as soon as I start speaking English. Their tea is really great, much better than the cheap generic kind you often get at Chinese restaurants. The appetizers also start rolling out pretty quickly, and they're plentiful enough that my family and I couldn't even finish them by the end of the meal. We ordered what we thought was a moderate amount, then a ton of food came onto the table, and this all happened before noon within a couple of minutes of the store opening! We ordered bulgogi, mackerel, and salad dishes to complement the spicy tofu soups that were the main course. They were all delicious, but completely unnecessary as we could have all gotten full without them. There were no regrets in ordering them, but we certainly didn't expect to be so well-fed. The tofu soups were really hot, and I was planning on eating other stuff to let it cool in the meantime. But nope, it was almost as hot at the end of the meal as it was during the beginning! Those black stone pots they use are really efficient at keeping the heat in. Service was fairly decent from what I experienced. There was no language barrier, at least not after I switched to English. And their ambiance is pretty cool with a bunch of Korean pop songs playing on the speakers. I'm not sure whether this is how most Korean people actually eat, but it's enjoyable to hear those songs that I never hear elsewhere. It's almost like I get to be part of another country without leaving home, and I guess that's part of the reason for my rating. Even without that bias, I can still say this is one of my favorite restaurants in the area!

Grub! Returning from a long trip away, Monkey made and beeline straight to Greenline Organics, hung a right, hopped the freeway and looped around to this place for some: #90. SEAFOOD ONION PANCAKE #18. BI BIM STONE HOT POT Killed it down to the last grain of toasted rice pried from the stone. Best seafood onion pancake ever! Clean place, but littered with specials taped to walls. Way to ruin the nice ambiance of a modern interior. Service is quick and misdirected. We were happily enjoying our meal, when waitress presented the check and kinda waited for payment. Weird.

It makes me sad to have to rate this place so low ... but I kept giving them chances and they just kept messing up! It all started when we walked into the restaurant. No one greeted us ... no one even made eye contact with us. In fact, for us to be acknowledged, we had to flag someone down. I honestly don't even know how else to say this. I need a list: - If it weren't for us reminding them three (yes, 3) times, we would have never gotten our waters and teas. - Every time we asked for their attention, they would come by to ask what's up and then walk away before we were even done asking for what we needed (water/tea/refills). This resulted in us asking them multiple times for multiple items when they could have just stayed an extra 15 seconds to listen and then save themselves the extra trips. - To get our check, I had to wait by their register to get their attention. - And okay, CHERRY ON TOP: They rang us up on the wrong bill. What? Yes. they rang us up on the WRONG bill. I took the responsibility to split our check (between 4 people) and made it as easy for them as possible. Stacking the credit card in order of items presented on the receipt and they STILL got it wrong. So one of my friends were charged double the amount hat she should have paid. Look, Seoul Hot Pot. You guys seemed great. I really enjoyed your tasty food but your terrible service makes me never want to come back again. I'm normally a great tipper (because I hate the Asian stereotype) ... but last night, I was an awful tipper. And for that, I am sorry. Just know that my bad tip reflects the bad service and not my tipping habits.

This is basically 5-star for the food and price but 4-star for the wait around lunch time. This place is probably the best Korean and cheapest around Eastside area. I have tried Stone Korean and it's a bit more expensive. They are all good though. I usually go here to order either Soondubu or Bibimbap. Everything else is pretty much OK (the stir fried are bad). I like the fact that they have so many options for Soondubu: beef, chicken, vegi, mushroom, seafood... Side dishes are plenty and you definitely can order more. But again, during lunch time getting a hold of the waitress is difficult. However, on Sun after it's perfect to go there for quick lunch or dinner. The service is good and their waitresses are pretty nice in general. This restaurant is clean overall. I would come back regularly.

Beware the soup Nazi. I work near Seoul Hot Pot, and have been going there for over a decade. I was unfortunate to have gone there today. We arrived at 11am, the first customers of the day. My girlfriend and I decided to get a bowl of the vegetable Soon Doo Boo and an order of the steamed gyoza. The waitress arrived, and my girfriend ordered the Soon Doo Boo, and asked for an additional bowl of rice. The menu clearly states that an additional bowl of rice is available for a dollar. The waitress told us that the owner does not allow people to share the Soon Doo Boo, and that she would not allow us to have another bowl of rice. I was dumbfounded and shocked by this. I'm Korean, and it's customary for Koreans to share their meals, and this has been the story at the 100s of Korean restaurants I've been to throughout my life. Rice is cheap, even at a dollar, it's overpriced. If you want to be told how you can eat the food you purchase, and what is available for you on the menu, this is the place to go. I thought I've seen it all, but never have I experienced such awful customer service. I did not order my gyoza, nor did I eat any of the Soon Doo Boo, and I will never go back there again.

I had bibimbap, which you can't really screw up, but a friend of mine had a noodle soup and commented on the small amount of meat and veggies in his bowl. Side dishes were okay. Other Korean restaurants I've been to definitely have a better banchan selection, though. Parking was kind of a mess on a Friday night, so not sure if I'm willing to come back again for a weekend dinner.

Good food, the service sucked. Took them 20 minutes to get me water. maybe it was because I'm white, IDK. I can't really find a reason to only give this place a 4-star so 5 it is! I have been here twice already and love this place! My friends and I ordered the Korean pancake dish both times because it is so good. I don't know if there is a Korean name for the pancake. Basically you get a big plate of Korean pancakes that are enough to be shared with 3 or 4 people. I don't remember the price for that dish, though. There is also a dish (bossam jungshik?) that comes with cabbages, meat, and some vegetables that look like kimchi. It is so good and filling. Large portion and enough to feed a small group of 3 - 5 people. It is served cold. Soup dishes are good. My friends and I shared the soup dishes. I remember trying the dish with rice cake in it and it was pretty good. They are generous with the rice cake servings. I personally think they are pretty generous with the side dishes. They give out at least 6 or 8 side dishes and the side dishes are unique. Because these side dishes are not commonly seen at other Korean restaurants. Too bad I don't know the names of all the side dishes. Tea is good! Service is not bad. But I think it is because I go there with a friend who can speak Korean. So waiters are extra friendly and nice. Service is a bit slow just because they are always so busy. We had to wait for a long time for dinner once. The other time we got seated pretty quickly during the lunch hour where there were lots of empty tables. However, it got pretty packed quickly.

Been here a few times, and this is a great place to enjoy some Korean food - I enjoy the rice and assorted pickled veggies and fish cake served as appetizers. Actually, I could eat that by itself as a lunch, it's pretty filling. I usually order soft tofu soups - broth is pretty light, filled with bits of tofu, prawns, clam, or other meats. Service though, could be improved - as others have pointed out. It appears to be understaffed and they are overwhelmed when the M$ lunch crowd is present. The waitresses can become curt, lacking attentiveness where one must remind them to bring beverages on a few occasions or bring a check. Note: It usually ends up being a line at a door waiting to have a spot to sit down - so, plan to have an early lunch at 1100 or even a later one, such as at 1330. Loss of one star due to needing improvements in the service department.

I ordered dolsot bibimbap and they served it warm. Imagine that. This is a dish that has a raw egg in it and is supposed to have a very hot stone bowl that cooks the egg. Nope. Bowl was warm so I had a warm wet egg mess.

Don't be put off by the modest decor of this cafe style restaurant. The food here is wonderful. Some of the sauces are different than I'm used to, but in a good way. The servers are friendly, and the food, consistant. I'm not as fond of their sides as other korean places but they are still delicious. I have to ask for water each time I come, but they are quick to deliver anything I ask for. Good place for a quick lunch bite!

I've been to a few Korean places around here and find Seoul Hot Pot to have the best soft tofu soup yet. Its tasty, spicy and I love how they crack the egg in it for you. This is a clean place and the food seems to be quite fresh. I even brought my vegetarian parents here once and they enjoyed the food too. The prices are also reasonable for the amount of food you get. I've ordered the mackerel here a couple of times too, but I was expecting it to be less greasy as it says on the menu it is grilled. It comes out oily as though it were deep fried, however. The service has always been OK here in my experience. Not the best, but not the worst.

Ordered a soft tofu soup, and a japchae. Both did not disappoint.. and the japchae was a very large dish. The two dishes alone, filled me and my bf up very well. My tofu soup was a beef and mushroom. Flavors were bit on the mild side, but its good, and warm, and soulful. The japchae was flavor full, and rich in veggies, and good amounts of beef slices. Very reasonably priced for Remond/Bellevue area :) I will be returning! especially with the weather we've been having!

I tried something new today. #55 Transparent noodle stirred fired with button and shitake mushroom. It is a little sweet but still good eats. The tofu soup is steady here.

My husband and I saw the great ratings that Seoul Hot Pot had (as of 9/7/2013) and were craving Korean, so we decided to give this place a shot. When my husband went to the restroom, he had a view of the kitchen from the hallway where he saw plates being dropped on the floor, and fresh produce was stocked in the open, uncovered, next to the bathrooms. Not sanitary!! Our food came out fairly quickly, and after our food came out, not one, not two, but THREE HUGE cockroaches crawled out of the wall next to our table!! We immediately alerted the staff and management, who tried to squish the bugs NEXT TO OUR FOOD and when that didn't work, they insisted on reseating us so we could continue our meal. We told them in no uncertain terms that our appetite was gone, that we couldn't trust the kitchen if there were that many cockroaches in the dining room, and that we would be taking our business elsewhere and never returning. We went to Hot Stone Korean on the other side of Redmond and were treated to fresher looking food, friendlier staff, and a cleaner dining experience. This place needs to be shut down and combed through by the health department. I have no idea how Seoul Hot Pot got such stellar reviews with how disgusting it is. Never again!!

This a good Korean place to frequent. I've been here a few times already and have never been disappointed with the food. If you come at the right times, you don't have to wait forever to be seated. Still, parking can be a bit of problem with such a crowded and rather small lot. Prices are reasonable. You get those little side dishes and tea before your main dishes. Between me and the hubby, we've ordered the soon doobu soup dishes (sp) which have always been good as well as the noodle dishes (chap chae?). We've yet to try the other menu items but can't stop ordering our usual.

Good Korean eats here. Good kimchi is key at Korean joints and this place doesn't disappoint. Big fan of their short ribs combo's and soups. The atmosphere is very homey and service is generally quite good. Recommended.

Delicious kimchi soondoboo. I ordered extra spicy and they happily obliged. I was definitely breathing a little fire afterwards. Decent banchan, not a whole lot of selection. They crack an egg in your soup when they bring it to the table. They also serve a small bowl of the lavender rice, I forgot what's it called. But, it's pretty good especially when you dip it into the bubbling hot goodness of the soup. Damn, I want some now.

I rarely if ever venture out onto the eastside, but somehow ended up there yesterday. Instead of heading over to Blue Ginger, I asked my cousin if there was any other good Korean Restaurants in Bellevue. She recommended Seoul Hot Pot. Located next to the Kabob King (haven't tried it), this small little restaurant serves up food very similar to Hosounyi's (sp?). We ordered a fish roe soon dubu, broiled Mackerel and a seafood pa-jun. The soon-dubu soup was just alright. We asked for spicy and it wasn't very spicy at all. We even ordered in Korean which is usually the go ahead to dump absurd amounts of chili's into the soup. The Mackerel was also a little bit disappointing. It's usually a very flavorful fish, but for some reason, it wasn't very good at all. Kinda wish we had ordered the yellow tail. The Seafood Pajun or sometimes referred to as the Seafood pancake (I hate that term), was excellent. Very crispy on the outside and moist and steamy on the inside. Even delicious the next day. Three main dishes for around $30. The side dishes were adequate. The cucumber kimchee was awesome and the true standout. I haven't had any in a long time and we asked for 2nds on it. Although the meal wasn't mind blowing or anything, it was still good in it's own right. It's hard to find good Korean food and we only tried 3 items. I'm sure the meat dishes are good and there's a tripe dish that if done well can be amazing. I'm wanting to make a trip out there to see if it's any good. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and rate them a 4, but might have to change my mind after a 2nd visit.

One day, a Korean co-worker told me excitedly that the owner (chef?) of Hosounyi had opened a restaurant on the East Side. I liked Hosounyi, so I got excited too. We went that same evening, and went 5 or more times after that. It's hit or miss. The first time, the kimchi had a weird chemically taste, but that eventually cleared up. And they skimp on some of the ingredients -- the kalbi comprise these tiny thin pieces (you're better off ordering the bulgogi, which is $1 cheaper), and the shrimp in the seafood soondubu are so small that shelling them to get the small morsels inside isn't worth the effort. One can find a couple of decent picks, like the spicy pork and the hweh-dub-bahb (bowl of rice with raw fish on top), which is pretty darn good. The staff are friendly, and they replace the side dishes pretty freely. I'm hopeful that this place is ironing out the kinks, because a solid sit-down Korean restaurant on the East Side would be awesome.

It's one of the best Korean food joint in and around Bellevue & Redmond, my wife & I love this place so much and we make sure we are there at-least once a week!

Not the first time being here, but yesterday was surprisingly pleasant. The quality/taste of food here has been pretty consistently good. The pleasant surprise was that they were REALLY nice last night. Not that the service was terrible before, they had their ups and downs (not so "warm" when things got busy). Anyways, it just left a really good impression yesterday.

The food is good, but it needs more wait staff. We sat around waiting for water, then waiting for more side dishes, then waiting for the check. But, the quality of the food is definitely some of the best Korean on the eastside. The sundubu is really good, and so is the kalbi. Every soup I've tried here is great too. It's usually packed.

Went to Seoul Hot Pot because it was closer to my home than heading to Aurora and because I heard it was somewhat affiliated with Hosoonyi (which I like). The place seems to be VERY busy -- first time gave up, second time timed it just right and got seated before the big rush. Servers are super friendly, but also super inefficient. Brought us menus and then disappeared. Menu looks good -- not quite as big as Hosoonyi's, but pretty complete. Wait. Brought us plastic cups of hot water (strange, and not appealing to me). Wait. Took our order. Super long wait (no one comes with my drink). Panchan arrives (no rice). Panchan is OK, but a little lacking in variety (kimchi, pickles, fishcake, bean sprouts, salad). Wait. kimchi jigae (stew) and rice arrives, but we get no bowls to divide up the jigae between the two of us. Wait (can't get anyone's attention. Get extra bowls. Soon after, spicy BBQ pork arrives. Munch, munch munch (tasty food). Ran out of panchan. Try to get someone's attention to refill. Wait. Ask for refill (and missing drink) -- waiter says kitchen is getting orders wrong (doesn't explain missing drink). Wait. Nearly finished with dinner. Panchan refills arrive. Liked my kimchi jigae and the spicy BBQ pork. Hated the waiting. Could have driven to Aurora and back in the time to get served. We were not alone in this issue -- Korean group next to us also didn't get any service for the longest time either. Good food, but slow kitchen and not enough or not efficient enough waitstaff (or both). Would maybe go back, but it would probably be just as fast to drive to Hosoonyi and eat there. Wanted to like it, but the waiting killed my enthusiasm.

The portions are big. The foods are pretty good. The service is kinda slow and not that good. It seems more of a restaurant that want people to come in, eat, and get out in a fast pace. The restaurant was busy and clean. We ordered Seafood Pancake, mushroom and beef soon do bu, and spicy pork bulgogi. The price is pretty competitive with the other Korean restaurant. The side dish are okay. Like the anchovies. It's enough to split 3 orders of food for 4 people.

I really like this place and it beats any other Korean restaurant on the Eastside. The banchan always changes and the main dishes remain good each time we visit. The service is good but not super friendly. They don't come back to check on you so you'll have to wave them down if you want something. The prices are typical for a Korean restaurant (too high)but it's worth not having to cook at home.

Pretty good place for Tofu Hot Pot, about $8-$9 and comes with 6 sides. Took a little bit for the food to come out, but it delivered. I have to say, the Bi Bim Bap was rather depressing. No stone pot to get the crispy rice bits, small portions and prepared cold. Would definitely up the rating if they had a better one. I do think that Tofu Hot Pot and Bi Bim Bap are the California Rolls of sushi, pretty commom/safe choices, possibly the more unique dishes would be better since I did see mainly Koreans eating here which is a great sign. Would come back to try other new dishes.

My wife and I go here when we need our Soon do boo fix. I usually order the fish egg roe, while my wife orders the seafood one. This also comes with the korean side dishes. The prices are reasonable, and their service is usually pretty quick. Very recommended!

Went for dinner. We ordered one of their signature menu, oh I can't remember the name, that has boiled pork and boiled Nappa come with spicy radish strips and oyster! (hope I explained the great meal clear and accurate enough! ) When you eat, you wrap the pork and the radish&oyster w/ the boiled Nappa That menu come with several delicious side dishes and one bowl of rice. and the amount is HUGE. enough for 3 persons and only $19.95. Good to share! Great taste! Very clean and cozy restaurant. I would love to come back for the same menu!!

I was so disappointed that this place didn't have the hot bi bim bap. I ordered the stir-fried noodles with veggies and beef and it was only okay. If you are a fan of the sizzling stone pot bi bim bap, you won't find it here. However, my friend, who ordered the spicy tofu hot pot loved it and it's her favorite place to get this dish, so if you're a fan of the tofu hot pot, you might want to check this place out.

I think this is the best Korean food you can get on the Eastside. Went there awhile ago and got the monk fish, kalbi and soondooboo. Everything was great! It's a pity that the decor doesn't match the quality of the food. The prices were average for Korean restaurants although compared to other places, it's worth the money.

This is one of my favorite restaurants on the Eastside. Great prices, really fast service and best of all, great food. Granted, i'm not korean, so maybe Korean people may have something else to say, but I always see lots of Korean people eating there so I assume that's a good sign! Favorite Dishes: Seafood Pancake, bulgogi, and bee bim bap (sp?).

my friend and i were craving korean food and she recommended seoul hot pot. but i thought, hot pot? korean? hrm. never had this combination before. usually when i crave korean food, i always want korean bbq. however, my friend was in the soup mood. i told her as long as i get some korean bbq there i think i'll be fine. when we got there, there were maybe 3 tables seated and seemed to be a very casual atmosphere. ordered the kalbi and tofu with beef and egg soup. even with the slow activity in the restaurant, we didn't really get our banchon until 15 minutes after ordering our meal. but our meal came out as soon as she put down our banchon... banchon not too shabby. their kimchee is really salty- both the cabbage and radish. i've had better. but then again i always have homemade kimchee from korean moms so i always have a high standard for kimchee when i go out. had the kalbi, came out on a sizzling plate as standard and it was meh. you dont go to a place with the name hot pot in it and get kalbi but i was craving korean bbq... so i suppose it was to cure my cravings at the time. had the tofu, beef and egg soup, quite tasty and very good esp with the spicyness!! its good for their soups but nothing else. overall experience, customer service is not excellent but you get their attention if you flag them down. food is not horrible; not the best. as the star rating goes... it is "A-OK".

    (3)
  • Frannie A.

I ordered the mushroom/pork soon dubu (tofu soup) really, really spicy, unfortunately as was mentioned prior...... it wasn't spicy at all!! The soup was tasty and the side dishes were good. for $8.70 plus tip it was a good lunch. I will order the seafood pancake next time, it looked really good!

    (4)

Had the Beef and Kimchi tofu soup. A welcome taste of familiarity for someone far from home. Had mine at spicy level 2 (and I'm not a spicy person). Service is a bit slow.

The Bossam is to die for, it is SO GOOD, it melts in your mouth, the steamed/cooked meat as well as the spicy sides/special kimchi/oysters given with it to wrap it are of very good quality. What I like about this place is that even the side dishes are prepared with care and they are never dry/old, the attention they put to even the small side dishes really says something about this place. The Seafood Korean Pancakes are also very good. And the SoonTofu Jjiggae. The servers have been nice as well. I would love to bring both Korean and non-Koreans to this place, and that's saying something because I'm usually a little hesitant to bring non-Koreans to any korean restaurant because I don't want them to get the slightest bad impression of korean food and want them to get the best experience. I've come here with family several times and I've never yet been disappointed. Definitely recommend :)

  • Fumi S.

I like this restaurant. I like their sun dubu and the seafood dishes. It's always crowded during the lunch time, so you might want to avoid it. I gave four stars because every time we ask for a small bowl, they tend to forget it...

    (4)
  • jamie c.

Hmm... average tofu soup with too much MSG!!! Everytime I go here, I get super thirsty and get rash from too much MSG. I told them not to put MSG and food was just bad. It's really hard to get smile out of server cause they are too busy busing tables....

Saw the good reviews of this place and decided to take our family here for our first night in Bellevue/Seattle. It's located in a small strip mall and has a better ambience inside that the looks from the outside. It's casual dining and there were a lot of people inside eating away. I have to admit korean food is much better in Cali but this place wasn't bad. Their seafood pancake was simply delicious. Their soon-doo-boo (korean tofu) was allllright...not as tasty as I like it at my favorite place kaya in Irvine. But their ban-chan (side dishes) were delicious - i think i liked it more than the food..haha. We can another night closer to their closing time (9PM; they close at 930PM) and service was so-so and their ebin-soo fried fish that we ordered was kinda small..i think we got the last one. All in all, an okay korean establishment..3.5 stars.

Rumoured to be the handy work by the same people who run hosoonyi up in Northgate, this is a greet lunch spot if you are on the eastside. Always crowded at lunch. Minimal service. Good solid food. Value for money. Can't wait to see what dinner would be like here...

I ordered the woo-gu-ji kalbi tang and expected to have some spice in it. It had absolutely none and wasn't what I was expecting. Also, it was actually more expensive than other restaurants I've been to. Wasn't too impressed with their banchan (side dishes) either.

  • Kam A.

Went here once because of a tofu soup craving. I brought a friend who had Korean food for the first time and he loved the kalbi bbq and the bulgogi. The tofu soup was yummy and it was what I was hoping for. Their free hot tea was amazing too!

Great Korean food at a decent price. No frills service and decor. Yes, the waitstaff can seem like they came from a machine-tool plant. But the food is outstanding and reminds me of momma's cooking (when she wasn't screaming about how come I was too dumb to get into Harvard and be a lawyer or doctor). IMHO better than Blue Ginger - which is overpriced and overhyped.

How do you know if a Korean restaurant is good? Look around and count the number of elderly Korean diners. This place was full of them! The kalbi was excellent, the seafood pancake outstanding, but the deep fried mackerel was a bit too salty. The banchan was decent, but not the best in the world. The portions were really generous; myself and the lady friend did not come close to finishing at all. Seoul Hot Pot is currently my favorite Korean restaurant. I'll definitely be coming back to get some cold summer noodles and soup.

-[ ^ _ ^ ]- Food is great! good quality, good price and everything is fresh, what more do you want?! i've had the opportunity to eat Korean at many places and this is by far my favorite! i've followed the owner since he had his restaurant up in Lynnwood,

Get the Soondobu! And don't go with a vegetarian friend (if they're strict) bc your non-meat eating friend ends up eating only a few of the side dishes! My friend said "I can't eat meat" to the waitress, which translates for Koreans roughly to "I don't eat red meat but I can eat all other types of meat such as chicken and seafood because you know, I'm not *wierd* ". Of course the waitress suggested a dish that we didn't realize had clams.. because clams aren't red meat! Perfectly logical. Looking back on it now, I suppose we should have been really explicit about what no meat meant - I bet they wouldn't have minded excluding it. My soondobu was nice and piping hot - my only complaint is that the cracked egg to bowl technique was delayed (as we had 4 people ordering the same dish so she cracked each egg and THEN passed each bowl out - giving me the first bowl), causing the egg to completely cook without enough time for me to mix it well. The waitress however was really nice and insisted on keeping the rice separate from the soup because I could only really consume about half the portion. Gotta love the ones that look out for you! BTW, they're really accomodating to large groups.

I finally tried this restaurant after driving past it a couple of times. My first impression is that it's better than Blue Ginger. I sticked with the familiar dishes: - Soft tofu soup -- I ordered mild, and it was too mild. Normally mild in Korean restaurant is spicy enough for me. So next time I'll order medium. - Seafood pancake -- Very good - Grilled short ribs (kalbi) -- Pretty standard; it's hard to screw up kalbi, but then I've had a bad one at Blue Ginger. Next time I'll order the more unusual dishes.

  • Chen Y.

I like their tofu hot pot--they have several different kinds to choose from. It's comforting on a cold day. Plus you get the nice little sides that come with all Korean meals. When I ate meat before becoming vegetarian, I liked their bulgogi & green onion pancakes (at the other location that the owners have up in North Seattle--not Seoul Hot Pot...the name escapes me right now....)

We typically go to the Korean restaurant in Paldo. Seoul Hot Pot has a similar menu but misses the mark compared to them. This is the second time we were served undercooked food. The seafood pancake was slightly raw in the middle. Paldo is always perfect with theirs. Paldo serves the BiBimBap in a searing hot stone bowl. The one served here is in a cold bowl. My wife liked the rib soup, so for that they receive a point. The place is much nicer compared to Paldo but if you come for the food I suggest Paldo. Waiter was supernice. Good service. Mixed feelings about this place.

I love soon du boo. My husband gets the yuk gae jung. We also like the bbq chicken and the seafood pancake. The selection of side dishes are always good and you can always ask fo refills. We took my in-laws here and they liked it as well. They had recently tried another Korean restaurant (i forget the name and location) but they liked Seoul Hot Pot much better and would come back to it. We tried Blue Ginger but we think that Seoul Hot Pot is better.

I find myself craving the kimchi soon tofu jigae here way too often. Pretty much everything I have ordered here is great including the kalbi, dehji bulgogi, and japchae. Side dishes are also yummy. And the prices are reasonable. This just might be my fave Korean restaurant right now.

Why is it that the best Korean restaurant I've found so far has to be all the way on the eastside???? The sun-dubu (soft tofu soup) is flavorful and comes with a variety of meat/veg options. The kimchi pa-jun (savory kimchi pancake) is crispy and delicious. My BF even loves the regular old kimchi jigae (kimchi stew). We tried the bul-go-gi hot pot special once (advertised on a printed paper taped to the wall) - it was no korean food i've ever had - it was a sort of strangely sweet soup with beef and rice cakes and bean sprouts (not traditional duk guk - ricecake soup - but something kinda like it) - it was all right but I don't recommend it. I keep meaning to try some of the meat and fish entrees, but that sundubu is so good, I think, why gamble? The place is clean, service is fast and no-nonsense, and prices are very reasonable. If I lived on the eastside, I would just have part of my paycheck direct-deposited here so I could just come for dinner every week.
