Four stars despite a pretty run down place with nice but not quite attentive service, because the food is that good! I had the prime rib dip and it was the best I've ever had. Beautifully roasted prime rib thinly sliced and piled high. Mom had the fish and chips and loved it. I even had a piece even though it is not my thing, and I was surprised at how good it was, super crispy with great fries. Brother had the bacon burger, pretty standard. This place is famous for their pressure cooked fried chicken so I am happy to announce I ordered an 8 piece with Jo Jo's to go and will not have to make dinner later. Yay!

I've been a patron for years - a clean "dive" / sports bar that has decent pub grub at a decent price. The quality has gone down hill on the food and the prices are going up - so I'm done. The burgers appear to have less meat, thinner slices of tomato, and I totally notice the quality of the bacon is not what it used to be. I like their potato skins - but they give you about 2 teaspoons of sour cream for a half pound of skins. Not enough - but that's fine - I ask for extra and the problem is solved.... until now. Now they want to charge you for extra. This kind of cheap crap is a complete turnoff. This kind of nonsense happens when owners try to squeeze more profit out at the cost of quality. They should just raise their prices and maintain quality - this an affluent neighborhood. This kind of thing is received as a diss to their loyal customers. Well, the extra 50 cents you want to charge for sour cream just turned into $1000 of lost revenue from this former loyal customer. Enjoy your new balance sheet, GL. I'll stick to Sunset Alehouse, Issaquah Brewhouse, Levitate, and the new Black Duck have better eats without the fuss over "extra sauce". Can you imagine red robin charging you four sauce? Stupid.

Meh. Dive bar in Issaquah. The burger was cardboard like, but the French fries where decent. Our server was great. However, the Budweiser girls showed up on a Thursday afternoon, which was awkward at best. I should also mention the menus where pretty gross. Covered in grease, and who knows what. A quick wipe down every now and again goes a long way. Also, who brings a kid to a bar? I know that most places have a restaurant side, and this place does.(Which they didn't sit in.)But, this is clearly a run down BAR. Not really a place to bring a ten year old. But you know this is Issaquah, home of the obnoxious parent. I shouldn't have been surprised.

This place is a train wreck. I had a flyer on my car for them that they had new ownership. We had been there before for dinner and it was OK. 2.5 stars. We like local places so we tried it this morning. The food is bar food at best. Small menu, greasy and processed food. We went for a Sunday breakfast and my wife tried to play it safe with French Toast. They were store bought bread slices, soggy, and pretty gross. The syrup was in little containers which speaks very well to the overall quality. The service was really slow and clueless. They seemed understaffed and not ready for the number of people trying it. The thing that bothered us the most was that the place tends to cater to their regulars before others. And the regulars do a pretty good job of making new visitors feel unwelcome. There was a table beside us and the guy had on a Gaslamp Bar and Grill jackets. I actually think he might have been the owner. His table was served before anyone else and the server actually complained to him that so many tables had come in at once right in front of those tables! There were drunk people sitting at the bar yelling at the drunk people in the pool table area. Over all, we will never go back. It was a terrible experience. If you're looking for breakfast in Issaquah, head to the Issaquah Cafe 1 block away. There is a reason that place has a line and the Gaslamp doesn't. To be fair, if you are looking for a place to go watch sports and have a beer in a neighborhood bar at 9AM on a Sunday, this place would serve you well. But for a dining experience it's just terrible.

So here's the rundown of this place, list-form. Just to mix things up. PROS: - It's close to home. - We were able to get in on a Friday night without waiting. - Really reasonably priced for the amount of food that you get. - Steak was perfectly cooked. - Great, crisp salad. - Good baked potato with the works - Environment feels like a neighborhood bar. CONS: - REALLY loud. - Slow service. - Steak did not taste like it was seasoned with anything. - Environment feels like a neighborhood bar. I'd come back, maybe during a weekday, to try them out again.

Your typical divey sports bar, with standard pub fare. I had a glass of wine and the French Dip. The bun was cold and the sandwich was lacking in roast beef. The fries, however, were hot, crispy, and well-seasoned. Prices were reasonable and the staff was courteous and attentive. The only two concerns I had are 1) the noise level was off the charts, and 2) there was a group of parents who brought their underage kids to the bar (I have always understood bars to be "off-limits" to everyone under 21. When did that change?).

We order a tuna salad and the fried chicken, which they said would take 20 minutes to cook. I'm glad that they gave a warning about how long it would take. The fried chicken was very good and super moist, but it seemed like it took longer than expected. The tuna salad was disappointing and overpriced as it was just two mounds of tuna that looked like it came straight from the can on top of some salad. What was worse than the salad was the service. We sat right next to the wait staff's computer and yet the waitresses who passed by wouldn't give us a second glance, not even a "how are things?" The tuna salad was only brought out to us once we asked for it after about ten or so minutes of waiting, which was ridiculous for what it was. When I asked if they had a sweet chili dipping sauce for the chicken, it took another ten minute just for them to swing by and say no. Although it was a bit busy when we first came it, it died down quick enough that I was surprised by the lack of service, as if we were last priority. It didn't help that we were the only non-white people there at that time, which gave me a weird, unwelcome feeling when combine with the less than stellar service. I would advise either to order to go in advance or find somewhere else.

We've tried this divey kind of joint at least 4 times so now I can say with confidence that the service has always been poor - very slow and they never remember to bring water or ketchup and sometimes they just don't bring the food. I've never tried happy hour if there is any, always come here for dinner. It always seems over priced to me for the quality of fried fish and chips and fried chicken. The burger isn't good either. If you've ever had fried chicken in the South - anywhere in the South including TN, TX, MS, LA or even GA you know this is not good fried chicken. Nor are the fish and chips better, they're just very average. The only reason we ended up here is that they were the only decent place open after 9 PM. The music is always way too loud, and the floor is always sticky. It would be cool if it was a real dive bar with great drinks and food but it's not. Not any more, I'm not coming back even if I have no choice.

Great place to watch sports and have a beer. Outside seating in the summer. If you enjoy bar food you can't go wrong! My kids love the burgers and tater tots. The servers are fast and always happy!! Update: New owners a few months ago. New servers. Not the same experience. The Decor is the same. Clean and decorated in a UW husky theme and golf heavy. Convenient Issaquah location.

Used to be a great bar, but is this place a bar or a daycare? This place is turning into a family place and driving away the people who want to escape. They also changed their hours on Fri and Sat to close at Midnight. We were surrounded by loud kids all night very strange, likely going to go somewhere else next time. Gaslamp is having an identity crisis.

Used to eat hete sevetal times a week. Moved away in 2010. Visited several times over past 5 years. Moved back in February and the place is aweful. First owner did not like the music on the jukebox so now no music. The cook finally left ( he is now at Rolling Log) so the food is not bar quality ( i expect alot from bar food) finally i hope the help is related to the owners cause as others have said it is slow and you are lucky to get the correct order.

I stopped by for some takeout on a weeknight, and the place was somewhat filled. There are places to watch the game(s) or play some pool, and this a UW bar, so it should be fun to stop by for a Husky game. I ended up ordering the 8 piece pressure-fried chicken with jojos, and it was good. The chicken is crisp and not greasy, although I prefer regular French fries to the jojos. It was about $20 for the order, so it is a little pricy, but a step up from KFC.

I walk in and there's a group of people with their daughters watching US women's soccer... This is listed as a bar and grill so I wasn't too surprised to see kids. The bar is separated from the dining area by a railing. I sat at the bar, the bartender was friendly. Atmosphere is like a local Applebee's or Chilis. I ordered a sandwich and a beer. Both were fine, no complaints whatsoever. Except that they forgot my Swiss cheese, but I was too hungry to say anything... There was one patron at the bar who probably could have been cut off, maybe a bit of over serving on the bartenders part. But a fine establishment I wouldn't mind coming back to.

Absolutely ridiculous. I have never left a yelp review before, but this was such a frustrating incident I felt compelled to leave a review about how awful my experience was. The server said the computer system didn't send the food through to the kitchen, but after refilling our drinks twice and after 30 minutes go by, wouldn't you check with the kitchen about where your tables food was? I actually had to ask a DIFFERENT server where our food was, only to find out it wasn't even started. Ugh. What's more, she tried to charge us for the 2 ice tea's and one coke we drank waiting hungry for our food to come. What a joke! Now I am going back to work hungry because they hadn't even started cooking the food and it took 40 minutes to have to ask someone where the food we ordered was. #Nevergoingbackthere.

Had food here in the AM - breakfast special: homemade corned beef hash & eggs with hash browns, chili cheese burger with onions, and don't forget the Cucumber Cool! I will definitely be back! - $6.99 Cheeseburgers all day!

  • Deborah K.

So...Gaslamp is under new ownership (thank god!) and I have been hearing good things so we decided to try it again. The food was great as usual, new menu and the service was fantastic...finally! A young fellow waited on us...great personality and we always had drinks flowing. We definitely will be back...thanks to the new owner for saving the Gaslamp!!!!

  • Roger N.

Three stars for friendly service, one star for the food. Ordered a burger with grilled onions, no bun. Got a burger on a bun with raw onions. Also ordered a patty melt. Got a burger, on toast, with lettuce, tomato and a microscopic piece of unmelted cheese. Not a patty melt. All food was premade, Sysco style. We won't be back.

Stopped by the Lamp yesterday afternoon, GREAT service great food....they still have great burgers and fries, bottomless cokes, and hub's is addicted the their chili burgers! We were a little past traditional lunchtime so was busy initially but cleared out as we were there still prompt service from staff and kitchen!

  • Gabi H.

New ownership has obviously made a difference. Love coming here after work for some beers. It used to be impossible to get service, and when you finally flagged someone down, they were rude and disinterested. They have all new waitresses, and my most recent experience was very pleasant. She actually seemed to care how we were doing! It was a tremendous change from what we usually expect. Great food! Great beer! I just hope they remodel the bathrooms. Totally divey. Avocado green counters, dimly lit, just... Yeah.

My fiancé and I chose GasLamp for our rehearsal dinner as it was right around the corner from our wedding venue. We had 12 people and had reserved their little room off to the side. We were over 30 min early on accident and they were so accommodating! We had such a great experience! They hurried and got us back there almost instantly. Our server was awesome. Everyone's orders were perfect. We had a large group so the food took a minute to get out but it was tasty and totally worth the wait! We all had a great time and were made very comfortable. The entire experience was fantastic. Good food, great prices, great atmosphere. Very impressed.

  • Audrey S.

Okay. Yes. It is a dimly lit, windowless, pseudo dive bar that is family friendly during the day. I see nothing wrong with that. If you are a fan of fish and chips, do yourself a tremendous favor and get some. SOOOO GOOD. Also, remember, it is kind of a dive bar. Don't expect stellar service. Do expect a loud time, sports on the tv, pool being played, and good beer.

Recently a new friend and I talked about unsung gems, during the conversation one of his choices was a pub in Issaquah by the name of The Gas Lamp. I was familiar with both the name and location, but never stepped inside. When I looked at the site online, I was immediately taken by the menu, photos and appearance. I said at my first opportunity I would check it out. We showed up for a later lunch, close to 2pm. For a pub that holds about 100 people, it was about a quarter full. It was on the noisy side, too noisy for me, too much competition between the jukebox, TV's and loud drunks. The service was super slow and the food didn't look or taste as good as expected. I want to be clear, the food wasn't bad, but it wasn't as generous as the portions on the site and the presentation is what you would expect from a county fair. Our order was jumbled and both servers we had blamed the mix up on the other. The décor here was really nice and again the menu was impressive, but based on the bumbling slow service we got, I can't give this place more than 2 stars and don't plan to return on my own desire.

The first time I ever heard of pressure cooked chicken is when friends brought me to the Marco Polo Bar in South Seattle a few years ago. While the food was great, the downside was that it's a Cougar bar (not the good kind). Imagine how stoked I was to find out Gaslamp also does pressure cooked chicken, and is a full-fledged Husky bar! Broasted. The pressure cooked chicken is amazing. I rarely eat fried chicken, and when I do it's Ezell's or Heaven Sent and never that nasty KFC crap. Gaslamp does it right! Chicken is tender and juicy all the way through, and still maintains a crispy crust, and with far less oil/grease than you'd expect. I got the potatoes this time, but they were a bit too massive, so next time around will probably go for fries. Just be careful when the food arrives--no matter how hungry you are, give it a couple min. to cool down before digging in. You've been warned!

Gaslamp is usually packed so service can be slow, unless you tip your server well. Great grub, Guinness on tap, and please try the tots!!

Self seated as we arrived, were brought menus and our drink order was taken. Waited 30 minutes without one waitress coming over to either take our order or to apologize for the wait. Finally left out of frustration and paid $13 for 3 orange juices and 2 coffees. Thanks.

Went there for happy hour. Never again. Worst happy hour in town. Happy hour food choices were awful. Felt like they knew they needed to get in on the happy hour business so they took a couple of their cheapest appetizers to put on their menu and called it good. We ended up eating off the regular menu. To top it off there were more kids there tonight (hanging around the pool tables while their parents watched the US women's soccer game) than adults. Will stick with coming here to watch Husky and Seahawk games. There are numerous other places to go in town with good happy hour menus. This isn't one of them.

    (3)
  • Deanna M.

The food here is pretty gross. It's a dive bar, sure and people used to bring their kids there after soccer, baseball and other games (I think mostly because there's a ton of TV screens - can't imagine it was ever for the food). The new ownership I think has focussed more on the exterior renovation than actually a brining up the service-level or food. It's a dive so if that's what you're looking for then you'll be pleased.

If you want awful service, substandard food and to be ignored, then this is the place for you. Almost every time I have come here, it takes forever to get service. Today was not an exception. It took 30 minutes to even get a server to my table to bring me a menu. Once I placed my order, it took about 40 minutes to get food. I inquired about my order. The waitress said the kitchen was running about 20 minutes for orders. I told her it was much longer than 20 minutes. Afterwards to get a box and bill, it took another 30 minutes, I was a basic breakfast but when it came the hash browns were only cooked on one side-almost inedible. Toast was not spectacular and it came after the regular food. Toast is not a difficult food item to prepare. My son can make better toast. The eggs were pretty good. I am usually a good tipper but a tip is for service but if there is little or no service, then I don't leave one. Last time I came the owner said they were short-staffed because some called in sick. They seemed short-staffed again too. Some of the wait staff have an attitude, but overall, I think it is management fault. I see the problems as: 1) The management does not hire enough staff especially when they have major sports events (that is probably why many of them have an attitude), 2) There seems to be no organized service areas-I think that is what causes a lot of the slowness or lack of attention to customers-It seems, however, unless you were a regular and seemed to get more attention than others, and 3) The kitchen seems too small, not enough staff and in need of a remodel. Robert Irvine with Restaurant Impossible would be disgusted when he was the lack of service here. I told the waitress Ali (I believe her name was) about the service or lack of it every time I have been there. She said I don't know when someone needs service, so if I don't come by, it is best to go to the bar and tell them you need something. That is service? Go here if you want horrible service and be ignored. And this was not unique to me-people at tables around me were angry for the same reason. 4 young people (who weren't regulars got ignored the same way.)

    (1)
  • Lee F.

I would agree, the service is some of the worst we've experienced in a long time. What is going on. The owner needs to pay attention. The food is still good. But the service sucks.

Walked in tonight. Had not been in years. It was packed. Found an open barstool and ordered a beer. Despite how busy they were the bartender cory came right over and took my order. Before I was done he was at the tap pouring me a new on. I was impressed with the new direction they are going with a new owner and GM. Thanks Gas lamp! I'll be back

Second time here - food is average - service is slow - no problem, as I come out on rare occasion to meet up with some car guys - today though was one of the worst and strangest experiences I've ever had out - I will find out who the owner is here (not the manager) to discuss what happened today - basically, we had nine folks with us and we sat at a large table - the waitress (blonde) who was very obnoxious and neurotic last time I was here, became unglued, because she said we need to call ahead with such a large group (nine people for breakfast!) she then proceeded to call the manager on the cell phone and demanded that one of our group speak with him - I heard my buddy speak quickly with the manager, very nice and polite - the phone call ended, and the manager apparently said we need to call ahead with a "large" group - no problem then a male barmaid (probably the waitress' boyfriend) came out to the table and told my buddy, who was unlucky enough to have taken the call, that he was a f*ckin' d*ick, *ssh*le, etc (he went on and on) for bringing such a large group to his restaurant for breakfast! does anyone get the logic here? Isn't the gas lamp a place where a group of folks can get breakfast? Without discussion, our party simply got up to leave - barmaid boyfriend with his arms held to his sides like a jersey shore moron came out cursing and following us, so did the shrieking nutcase waitress, who said she was calling the Issaquah police on us, for what I don't know - we could not get away from these idiots fast enough Don't know what to say more, but that's what's up for breakfast at the gas lamp - you better not go there more than a few at a time or call ahead - if not, welcome to their nightmare Eight more one star reviews to come! Thanks gas lamp

Visited a year ago and had not been back until last week for the Seahawks game. Super busy but we were still able to find room for the game. It seems as though there is a lot of new staff since my last visit. I can honestly say I have rarely been to a busy sports bar where I did not have to wait for service. The staff was on it all through the game. I wouldn't normally rave about food in a bar but this is a restaurant that I would go back, just for lunch (or breakfast) Yes, they allow children - it was nice to see the kids all geared up and enjoying the game with their parents, it didn't detract for me at all. I wish I would have had a place like that when my child was younger to go to. I heard the ownership was new, perhaps that has something to do with the better service. Next time I will take a picture of the food. PRIME RIB DIP - amazing!

    Very unfriendly service!!!!!!

Not group friendly on Saturday mornings, not enough staff to handle more than a few regulars. Waitress are very rude and put off when they could be making the place money and good tips. Have had good luck here in the past but not anymore.

I'll start by saying I go to the gas lamp at least once a month. The food is good and there are lots of large TVs. This said, I'm perplexed with their service. The service is very inconsistent. They don't seem to assign staff to tables, rather rotate them inconsistently around the whole bar. Patience required!!!

  • Ed B.

Last six visits over the last six months have all been disappointing. Today was the capper. Sat for twenty minutes with a menu and no drinks while tables all around us that got seated after us got drinks and menus and had orders taken. When she dropped off the menu, all she said was "Do you want anything to drink?" I ordered a beer and ten minutes later, was still sitting and waiting for it while she served every other table. So we got up and left. If it hadn't been the same server that's been so consistently atrocious, we might have stayed. I'm downgrading it to two stars. Food's great for pub food but I'm not about to put up with bad/non-existant service to get to the food. We went to Stan's and got seated, had drinks and menus in less than a few minutes. We ate, and were signing the check in the same amount of time we spent trying to get the server's attention at the Gaslamp. Next time we're in Issaquah and need to grab a bite to eat, I think Gaslamp won't even be an option. Sorry guys. Stop hiring shitty servers.

I liked it here - the food was good and the salad + dressing hit spot. I ate here when I was pregnant and was able to enjoy a non alchoholic beer while watching the game. Great UW game gear set up too.

Family friendly especially for a sports bar. Staff is great and the food is good. we will definitely be back.

Okay, seriously guys. You really need to step up your game on the service. You're always so nice, and the food is always so delicious, but you need to pay better attention to your tables. Stop by a little more frequently. Check in with your customers more. The service just keeps getting worse and worse. I love this place, and I want to keep coming in, but if you don't kick it up a notch I'm going to have to stop coming in. Please get better so you can continue to be one of my favorite places. Please?

I've been told the ownership has recently changed which might explain why my experience here was way better than some of the previous reviews. The prime rip dip was amazeballs!! I went late for a Seahawks game.. The place was but the owner was there And made sure we got a table! The service was great ..Joelle was on it! I will be back for sure! Great Seahawks crowd!!

The Taco Salad was disappointing. Way overpriced for some items thrown over tortilla chip. Good to just stick with true bet food here.

  • Ben S.

Came in at 10 and the place was pretty busy with only one server. Bugs flying everywhere. On tables, around food. Mostly fried food but few sandwiches. Chicken had black and purple pieces in it. Fries were cooked too long and were hard. Floors were filthy. Would not return.

Used to really like this joint. Cold beer, decent bar fare.. But lately the service has really gone downhill... Didn't seen as clean this time either. Hooing it's better next time because I really do love the French dip and tator tots!

ok...quick story. Was craving meatloaf.....had no idea why! I called my mom to get her receipt ,but couldn't get a hold of her. I knew the 12th ave cafe had it , but when I went on their website, it said, & I quote "Closed Christmas Day, Thanksgiving Day, New Years Day & Salmon Day Saturday....WTF...The one day fricken day that I am having a craving, and it's that saturday....Lord I reached a new level of pissed off!! So my husband google it and said "ok, I found meatloaf, its at the Gaslamp. Neither of us had been there, but whenever we drive by, it was always packed....so we decided to try it!! We walked in and found a table. We ordered our drinks and dinner and didn't have to wait long at all. Salads were great, fresh and cold, and not gussied with alot of crap to make salads look impressive. Just lettuce, cheese, tomatoes and croutons! We only had to wait maybe 7 minutes for our dinner. I saw my meatloaf and I was in heaven. 3 thick pieces of meatloaf smothered in gravy, mashed potatoes and corn!!! I ate with the biggest smile on my face! Only negative thing was, it was too much food....I left 1 piece of meatloaf, 2 would have been plenty. This place has the best bar food. I saw a waitress walking by with burgers and fish & chips, and those looked great also. One word of caution......on college football nights it gets very very noisy.

Never again. There is an apparently crazy little bitch of a waitress working here that has some serious issues. I sat there in shock just this last Saturday morning as she had it out with what looked like a pretty normal group of just over half a dozen people who simply came in for breakfast. I don't know if there was any history between them or not. Does not matter. She quit waiting on us and focused her full attention on bitching at them. Then some drunk at the bar (this was 8:30 on Saturday morning!!!) who was apparently her husband started in as well. This group left (of course), but the waitress and the drunk followed them out. What an awkward moment. We left as well, having never been served. Stay away - this place is no more than a haven for crazy waitresses (does she spit in the food?) and early morning drunks. There are far, far more inviting venues in Issaquah.

Not really sure how this place racked up so many positive reviews. I found the menu lacking, which is no small feat considering how big it is. But your choices are limited to something fried, processed and packaged, or extra-deep fried. The chicken in the Quesidillas was obviously processed, prepackaged, microwaved chicken strips. Salads consisted of the same "chicken" or lower quality deli meats. Burger was your typical greasy-spoon fare. It's pretty sad when the most appetizing entree at the table is your four year old's PB&J.... Despite its outdated decor, the place was surprisingly clean and well kept. Had a friendly, if inattentive, staff. I'd go back for beers with friends, but that's about it....

Love their burgers, love the staff. Don't love how damn loud it can get in the evenings. I totally get it's a dive bar with young people paying pool, etc. But I really pulled back on coming here because the music was so loud on multiple occasions it was hurting my ears. It's also no fun to go somewhere and even while yelling, not be understood by your friend. But I still love their greasy bar food!

Great bar food! Burgers are great!! Tavern allows kids (probably only until a certain hour (?) but we've never been turned away.) Prices are very reasonable. The only reason this doesn't get 5 stars is because of the service. The wait staff doesn't have an assigned section, so they never know if someone has already helped you or if you are waiting to order. Then you may order and someone else comes to take your drink order. It's very weird and frustrating at times.

I usually bump into someone I know here and that's a good thing. I totally enjoy this place, though you forget it's not a bar (they do serve kids before a certain time), but in The Issy, I guess you have to cater to the family crowd because everyone out there has kids. Anyway, about the place, this is a place you will go back again and again. My favorite thing is the fried chicken. IMHO, it's better than Ezell's (I know, perish the thought), but it really is amazing. That "Broaster" (pressure fryer) really does a great job on sealing in the juices and makes it hotter than Hades on an August afternoon. I typically will call in my order in hopes that it can sit in the window for a few minutes and cool down to a temperature that won't cause the roof of my mouth to peel. The problem usually is that they sit it down in front of you and the aroma of it compels you to dig in, but it's far too hot to sink your teeth into. This, BTW, is how the roof of your mouth sheds its skin like a rattler in molting season. NOT good, but "Oh so delicious!" The wait staff is always so nice and attentive, so I'd be stunned if anyone had anything bad to say on that count. This is just one of those gems that makes you wish you lived next door so you could pop over for a pint and some tater tots. I would agree with Kiki H's evaluation of the service (the assigned sections aspect), but they all seem to work so well together that you tend to get better service (if not always up-to-date on the particulars of your order) than if you'd gotten seated in a section where the server was a bit overworked. They could improve their beer selection as they usually have 47 IPAs or Pales and one drinkable non-hopped micro and the Scotch selection is bare bones. That would be the thing that they could work on, but not remotely close to a deal-killer. Food quality: 5 Stars Service: 5 Stars Beer/Scotch selection: 3 Kids allowed: 2 (it just seems like an adult place - but I know the Issy market is a bit different).

I love me a Gaslamp Burger! I have ordered a few different burgers from the menu, but I think that I like the Coyote burger and the grand slam burger best. The coyote seemed to have a mesh of everything on it, and it was damn good. The grand slam is more of a breakfast style. Ham, eggs, cheese, tomatoes and such. The fries are where it's at though. Seriously. These are the best fries in the whole damn state as far as I am concerned. They are super crispy and crunchy! They have a "double fried" or "triple fried" crunch/taste, but are only single fried. They just have a good batter around them. They are great for take out orders too, because they won't get soggy when they are in the take out box! They stay crunchy for quite a while and even taste good cold, which I was under the impression, was totally impossible. Fries just aren't supposed to be good cold, but these are! The environment is something I could do without, but I am one of those wimpy dudes who doesn't care for sports. I've eaten inside and taken my food to go, and even though the environment is not my style, eating in is still pretty enjoyable because it seems like everyone knows everyone and as such, are friendly. Seems like a place that the staff knows all of the usuals. The only reason it gets 4 instead of 5 is that the burgers usually seem slightly overdone. I get that it's probably for health and safety reasons, but every now and then they can be a little tough. Really though, it doesn't detract from everything else because other than that, everything is right on.

Excellent bar food. The fried chicken and jo Jo's are great. Order an appetizer - there is a 20+ minute wait for the chicken.

Any Midwesterner NEEDS to visit here any Thurs-Sat! Great food! Great beer! Very chill. And oh yeah...the bartender is from Ohio! She's a Buckeye but I won't hold that against her. Lol So worth the drive from Redmond. Haha

I was told to come here for the best pressure fried chicken. I was underwhelmed. While the skin was very crispy and had great texture and flavor, the underlying meat itself was BLAND BLAND BLAND. They ought to brine the chickens or something so that the seasonings penetrate all the way down to the bone (like King Solomon's Reef yelp.com/biz/king-solomo… ). The real star of the show was the prime rib dip!! OMFG, it was absolutely amazing. The meat was sliced razor thin and was so tender, yet full of flavor. It would have been delicious even without the au jus (and I've never said that about ANY French dip sandwich!). The bread was also very soft and the perfect accompaniment for the beef. I'm definitely coming back here for the prime rib dip. I just made myself hungry because I can't stop thinking about it. Sigh. Three stars for the chicken; five stars for the prime rib dip.

So I'm back again and have to say this time it was a disappointing meal and service. I ordered their Friday night special of pork ribs and while they were a generous portion, they were bland. So bland that I ended up "forgetting" to take my left overs home. The wait staff seemed like they could care less if I was there or not. Not even inquiring as to my needs or satisfaction.

Diamonds I remember when I was in 5th grade, my science teacher explained how diamonds are made. To freshen your memory, diamonds are made from coal that is pressured over time. Basically it's something that's cheap and plentiful that is pressurized to make these beautiful stones that once cut and polished, reflect and refract light. The reason why I'm giving you this quick gemology lesson is because I want you to understand the gem of Issaquah: the fried chicken at Gaslamp Bar and Grill. The chicken is succulent, hot, tasty with the perfect amount of seasoning and encrusted with the most perfect breading... ever. It's this crispy, flaky goodness that makes you stare at your food. Yes. Stare. It's perfection. I know that 99.8% of the entire US population won't ever find a diamond, but you can definitely feel like you've found one once you've tasted the chicken. So go. watch some football, play some darts, shoot some pool and eat their chicken and get ready to have your life altered.

Just grading the bar food over here; don't mind me. My grandpa had been speaking of this place since I was about 15, because he really likes the burgers and my grandma really likes whatever fried fish they have. By the name alone (and for some weird reason), I kept picturing this riverboat of a bar tied to a creaky dock with the wind and rain whipping all around it. The outside was dimly lit by gas lamps. Once safely inside from the fearful weather, the inside was not much different. Gas lamps were literally lining the walls, and a ghoulish man with a hook for a hand would come up and offer you a place to rest your weary sea legs. Yeah it's pretty much got that strip mall type exterior. I got a Reuben. Mmmmmm. A little too much thousand island but that isn't a big deal. I'm pretty sure they make their own ranch dressing. I LOVE places that do that. My grandpa's go-to is the Lamp Burger. The fries are amazing! I've eaten at bars before where it's painfully obvious the fries were previously frozen. As someone with a partially fried heart, I was really happy with Gaslamp. I will definitely visit again, as I no longer fear the unknown.

$14.95 Prime Rib Dinner on Saturday night was a great value. Ordered Med Rare and mashers - dinner also came with salad (typical Sysco salad - no complaints) veggies and bread. Was better than I have had at Outback and other chains. I would not put it up there with JaKs, but close. Service was attentive. Lots of TVs to watch baseball.

Pretty nice tavern. Relatively clean as far as taverns go. Service is cheerful. I've heard the food sometimes takes a while, but we got our DELICIOUS fries almost immediately. There are plenty of screens, albeit kind of small, so it's a pretty good place to go for games. They have Mac & Jack's AND Stella on tap. AWESOME! They also have Manny's, but who drinks Manny's when there's Mac & Jack's? ;) Cons: Loud. You have to shout to be heard. I will definitely come back to try some bar food.

The GF and I went out for date night and hit up the Gaslamp for dinner. I've wanted to stop in here for some time to check out that fried chicken everyone is talking about. I was expecting the place to be a bit dive-ish (which you should know I'm OK with), but to our surprise it wasn't at all. Actually, when we arrived, about 6PM, they had a nice mixed crowd. There was a group playing pool who looked as if they were regulars. There were several people ponies up to the bar that I'd bet money were all regulars. Then there were mixed groups of people having a drink after work, a family having dinner, etc. There are lots of TVs going with sports on, which again is OK by me, and you could sit nearly anywhere and have a view of a TV. The GF and I ordered the onion rings to snack on while we waited for the fried chicken. If you want that fried chicken you're gonna have to wait 20 minutes for it. The rings were pretty good. I liked the size they were cut too and fried well, nice and crispy. We also had a basket of the sweet potato fries. Again, very good. But the star is definitely that fried chicken. It legitimately some of the best fried chicken I've ever eaten. And remember, I'm from Texas and we know how to fry food! I ordered the standard 4 pc that comes with Jo-Jo's. Um, by the way, those aren't just Jo-Jo's, those are huge potato spears, I swear there was half a large potato alone on the plate. This is no small amount of food were talking about here. The chicken was delicious, so tender and juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. Not overly greasy and the breading wasn't overly done. The only downsides I had with this place were the service and lack of windows. The service wasn't bad, but it was a little slow and scattered. I did appreciate though that they all kind of worked together and it wasn't just "our" server who checked in on us. And the window thing may be just a weird thing for me and not bother anyone else.

My boyfriend and I had an entertainment coupon for this place, so we decided to check it out. So when we walked in, we just sat ourselves because we couldn't tell if we were supposed to wait to be seated. The place is set up like a sports bar with UW huskies sighs everywhere. Menu offers good selection of burgers, steaks, etc. And on a Monday night, the place was pretty packed but not enough servers. We ordered popcorn chicken for appetizer, should have sent it back as soon as we took our first bite. They were so thick breaded with barely any chicken inside. For dinner entrees, I had Gaslamp steak and it came with salad and a side of mashed potatoes, some onion rings & garlic bread. Personally, it was okay. The salad barely had any dressing and it came at the same time as the steak, so I was choosing between to either eat the steak before it gets cold or my salad first. The steak was a bit over done for me when I asked for rare. My boyfriend had a chili burger which was a good portion and he liked it. Service? The place was busy enough that they should have enough servers, but we had to get up several times to get our own sauces, or waited more than ten minutes after we got our check when we were ready to pay, I had to get up and grab a server so we could pay and leave. Overall, it's a dive bar that offers the locals a place to hang out.

A great local spot- nothing fancy, but good food & good service are what make this joint stand out! I popped in for lunch and the server was at our table about three seconds after we chose a seat. The place was at least half-full, too so it wasn't like she was just waiting for us to arrive. Got the run-down on specials (dollar off burgers today!) but I opted for the tuna & cheddar hot sandwich on sourdough with a side of fries. So delicious! I wish I'd been hungrier so I could've finished the whole thing, but as it was, the portion sizes were more than generous and I took home half my sandwich and more than half of the fries! If you're looking for a quick, tasty, filling, and low-key lunch joint... look no further! The friendly service was the icing on the cake.

I used to work in the same building as the Gaslamp for about three years. We called it our annex and we had our lunch meetings there multiple times a week. At first I was always, "woo free food!" but towards the end, I would dread going and only get a diet coke. I think it's the most depressing bar ever. The walls are lined with TVs playing different sports, there's maybe one teeny window on the door, and it's still musty from when smoking was allowed. The service was always slow and prices were average. Food was mediocre to bad, depending on what you got. I would tend to get either the chicken taco salad or the grilled cheese and every time I would leave with a stomachache. I would probably never go here again and I really don't understand why people would go out of their way for this place.

Im come from the land of Dive bars so I'd def say, for the folk if Issaquah this is as dive as you'll probably get. Thing is, it's clean! Im a dust Nazi when it comes to a place making my food and to my surprise the fans were clean, and a waitress was washing down a shelf. Scored points! Plus the chicken friend steak is really good. Finally a place near home (Issy) that I can go to looking like I walked out of Goodwill and no one will take a second look.

Comfortable watering hole with lots of T.V. screens. We came here today to indulge me in my search of a good burger. (Now if Dr.P. would just buck up and finally join Yelp, that would really be indulging me!) And I was thrilled. One of the best hamburgers I have had in a very long time. Skillet cooked and flavorable meat. Just the thinnest slice of ham and onions and tomato. And the bun was soooo soft. The burger's flavor reminded me of the best sandwich I can ever remember, which is from a long-gone restaurant in Boise, Idaho that my parents always stopped off at with us kids on road trips. Penny had the Prime Rib Dip. It was the special of the day and she enjoyed it immensely. Wow, Dr. P just couldn't stop talking about the lady who just had eight babies and has had plastic surgery to look like Angelina Jolie. To me the amazing part of that story is that all eight infants have survived. Now that is a big story, has that ever happened before?! It's not for me to judge that she wants to have lots of kids.

This is the closest bar to us and we keep trying to really like it, but every time we leave we feel kind of "meh" about the place. The prices are fine, beer choices are adequate, food is good...but there's just something about the place that doesn't feel right. Maybe it's the lack of windows that lend a seedy element to the Gaslamp...or the faded decor...or the lingering feeling of the many people who smoked many cigarettes inside years ago. Again, this is a fine place but just not our top choice for a bar outing in the Quah. I'd much prefer to just drink at home, I suppose.

  • Diane L.

This is a very friendly neighborhood bar and grill. The food is delicious; I don't remember better fried chicken and sweet potato fries anywhere. The prime rib is a very good entrée; at $14.95 one of the pricier, but worth it as a treat. We enjoy coming for breakfast, a real "deal." The wait staff is not well trained but makes up for it in warmth. This is where we like to take visitors to Issaquah to show off our small town's special atmosphere.

This place is pretty good bar food. The Philly cheesesteak sandwich is my favorite here so far though I haven't tried the chicken. The fries are solid, seasoned and crispy, just how I like them. I also very much enjoy the husky decor. Service is good. We will be back!

It's been maybe a year since I've been there and wow, they made some nice changes! Was a great place before but now it's up a few levels... More TV's, more cool stuff on the walls and brighter decor inside. The menu and selections on tap improved too. Can't beat the Prime dips! Staff was friendly and was all over the place checking on us and the other patrons. The service was great! Looking forward to visiting again soon! WiFi was a nice plus...

I tried the pressure fried chicken based on the mentions here. It was ok but I didn't think it was spectacular. I think next time I'd give one of the sandwiches a try. We had both jo-jos and fries and I definitely preferred the fries. The jo-jos were too big for my tastes. Good service, they really did a nice job keeping up on our drinks. This place is off the beaten path but worth hunting down and giving a try.

I love the Gaslamp! There's no better place to go on Sunday during football season, especially during when they're running the 3.95 cheeseburger special. Cheap beer, the best fried gizzards on the Eastside, and a great wait staff make the Gaslamp a win. If you can make it down there early enough on a weekend, the breakfast specials are pretty darn good too!

  • Belle B.

Erin A summed it up for as how I feel about the Gaslamp. The first time I was introduced to this tavern I had a great time my Dad, brother and I stopped in for a quick drink and there Sunday special for $4.99 burger and fries. I highly reccomend trying it out because it is mighty tasty and such a great deal. All the other times I've been I have been dissapointed in either the prices or some of the service. There is one girl there who seems to be on point all the time but others its lame and sometimes even forgetting to put in orders or waiting forever for what you do order. Anyways I'll stop my griping. They have added summer appetizer specials which are actually a pretty good deal and set themselves apart like: pretzels, bleu balls, and others at a decent price. I also like the fact that the waitresses seem to know a lot of the patrons by first name and they are regulars which is always nice to see. Unfortunately it feels if you aren't a regular you will get second class service. Aside from Sunday specials I think I'm over this place, it just seems to be more and more of a hassle every-time we stop in.

At first glance, I wasn't a fan of the atmosphere, with a hole-in-the-wall sports bar feel. Not exactly my cup of tea. However, I then tried the pressure-cooked fried chicken, and good lord, it's amazing! The crispiest skin over the most tender meat has me drooling now just thinking about it. I normally don't like white meat, but I scarfed those pieces down too. The meal comes with 4 pieces of chicken, (oh so delicious) jojos , and a (forgettable) salad. I don't know about the rest of their food, because I can't imagine getting anything else. Now that I'm thinking about it, I may have to get some chicken tonight...

Great Food, Fair Price, Friendly Employees, Crappy Service. They are a bar and you can't get a drink in that place in a timely fashion. Comedy of errors with the service. If the serivce could match the food this would be the best place to go to in all of Washington.

    (3)
  • M B.

Nothing much to look at, but the burgers are awesome and the beer is cold. What more do I need besides some big ass TV's to watch sports on? Oh wait, they have that too...

  • Marc S.

What the hell was I thinking when I gave this place only four stars? After exploring the menu a little more, I eventually discovered their pressure-cooked chicken...OMG! The BEST, what more can I say. Go there for dinner on Thursday night after 5PM and get the four piece chicken special (breast, thigh, drumstick, wing) for only $7.25 (regular price is $8.50). But wait, you also get fries or 4 jojos and a very filling and tasty salad included (salad on Thursdays only). The jojos are to die for. As I mentioned previously, this place can get pretty noisy and crowded. The secret is to seat yourself in the room off to the side, next to the pool tables. Even when the main area is a madhouse, for some strange reason this area is usually empty, or close to it.

Came here for lunch after hearing great reviews from my coworkers. Glad I did! My friend and I both had the bacon cheeseburger. She took the advice of the waitress and had fries, I had a side salad. Everything was good, greasy bar food can't be beat! Real bacon on the burgers and a piece of ham! Yum! We also tried the Blue Balls which were very tasty. I thought they would be meatballs with blue cheese in them but they are actually fried chicken cordon blue balls. Served with ranch. Kind of feels like a cafeteria inside. It seems really well lit up inside, but there are no windows. Lots of seating, tons of tv's, it definitely has great appeal and much cleaner than any other bar in Issaquah. Service was great! There were 3 people working the bar and all of them helped us at one time or another. I saw our order come up and someone grabbed it right away and brought it to us! Seems nice that they all help each other out so we, the customer, are not waiting and are served piping hot dishes! Customer service is not dead here, which is refreshing. Would go back, might check it out for dinner, they have great dinner specials listed on their menu.

The best kept secret in Issaquah. AWESOME pressure-cooker fried chicken! Hearty burgers too. Atmosphere is comfy; air is a little thick, tons of TVs to watch. A couple bar-sized pool tables, two dart boards. Basically the local watering hole with great food. Sundays are awesome because of the $3.99 Cheeseburger and fries deal. Definitely try the fried chicken!!

The beer was cold, the food was good, but it gets 5 stars from the service. Kendall (sp?) made our trip there awesome. Funniest/best waitress ever. The fried chicken is what I would recommend.

I had the $10 "Grand Slam Burger" described by a previous Yelp as being amazing this last week for lunch. Well.... it as tasty for sure and I am not familiar with Issaquah but it would be hard to beat locally I would think. I don't get all excited about freedo....uh I mean French fries but these were pretty tasty as well. This place can be a bit hard to find if your are coming from the East, it is across the street from Kelly Moore Paint and in back of the building. From talking to a friend I hear that Issaquah has some restrictive signage laws, he had a hard time finding the place. I got lucky accidentally coming down the road one block south of Mall and seeing it right there. I also had a two double Jack and diets which were $10 each but poured pretty stiff. Hi my name is Larry and I am .... Nice place, lots of folks around lunch time but not too crowed, friendly folks really can't ask for more than that. Two bar pool tables

I can't believe I've lived in Issaquah for 13 years and have never tried eating here! We decided to give it a try a couple months ago after hearing about the amazing pressure fried chicken. I have to say... we've gone back at least 5 times now! Their fried chicken is purely amazing and the price is even better. Just be prepared to wait up to 45 minutes, but it's well worth it. We decided to try some of their other items and they've all been great. Although I'm not a big fan of the atmosphere (no window hole in the wall), but if you're looking for some "home cooking" bar-fare at an excellent price with great friendly service and lots of TV's, then don't look any further. Great for takeout too.

I work in the area and stop by late-night for food and a drink and have always been very happy. I usually get chicken strips but had a nice Caesar wrap one time. The fries are good and after reading reviews will have to try the fried chicken. The bartender, Becky, is always friendly and gives great service. It is a typical small-town dive style sports bar. I noticed that it is oddly bright in there for a bar. But I choose to go here for late night food over anywhere else in Issaquah, even though most options are fast or fried food. I have been here several times and have always been well taken care of and left very happy and satisfied. I would recommend this bar for anyone looking for a good, fun time.

A very basic bar, the good - lot's pf TVs. The bad is the food is pretty basic. Not bad if you live in Oklahoma or Indiana but in the Puget Sound it really should be a lot better. All the fat with basic flavor.

Can't go 5 star because it is a tavern! But what a great meal! Had the prime rib dip. Meat melted in my mouth. My friend had the chili buger. A whole plate full of a gastromic nightmer I could never endure, but he ate every last bit and loved it. Service was quick and friendly and my Arnold Palmer never got below a 1/4 left before it was refilled. Will be back for sure!

Friendly and nice waitresses. Food was terrible. I'm not sure if it was the lettuce or what? Both my husband and I got sick. We ordered prawns and chicken fried steak dinner. I would not recommend this place, contrary to the other reviews that were very positive. If you want a great pub, go to Dino's Pub between Renton and Bellevue, it is terrific.

  • Tracy P.

Yeah. They suck now. They made a huge mistake firing their veteran staff. It isn't even they same place as far as service. The food is still pretty good when certain folks are in the kitchen but it's hit and miss. Not worth it at all, I'm sad to say. It was a relic in this town. Now it's a shame.

Drove by this place a few times and they always had a lot of cars in the parking lot so we decided to check it out. As soon as you open the door you feel like you were time-warped back to the 70's. Popcorn acoustic ceilings, dark paneling on all the walls, no windows, old beat up furniture and your typical beer and sports posters on the walls. This is not your average sports bar in 2011, this place is a dive bar with tables. We ordered some nachos and beers. The nachos were terrible. How can you mess up nachos? The service seemed fine at first. They kept coming around asking if everything was OK and if we wanted something else. Then I ordered another beer and never saw them again until I jumped up and told her I wanted the bill. They do have a lot of TVs and satellite for all the sporting events. Maybe if they would sell a TV or two they could hire another waitress and buy some real nachos.

Our first time here on Nov 2, 2010. As I heard, the restaurant/bar is friendly and offers some great "pub" foods. While this was Tuesday evening, the place was crowded with 4-5 tables of 10 or more people each and most of the smaller tables occupied. Despite that, we received some quick greetings, friendly service and food delivered quickly. It seems like very warm and comfortable local establishment. Just sorry that we did not try the Gaslamp much earlier. We will return often (though probably not during the Huskies football game --- lol)

Gaslamp Tavern is like a college hangout hole-in-the-wall, except they're next to the mall. Comfortable ambiance that's awesome for drinking. Our drink order was completely wrong. An obnoxious mistake - I'm sure. But another staff member was quite attentive to our needs. The appetizers platter is nothing to brag about, but we munched away, and enjoyed the night.

Normally I would have a hard time giving 4 stars to bar food. A bonus star is given for the fried chicken. That stuff would be awesome in any restaurant. I did branch out on my second trip to include the nachos and wings. Not the greatest ever but still very good. Portions are big and at a good price

Great hole-in-the wall charm with some pretty damn tasty food. This is in our office lunch rotation and love to come in on Fridays. There are tons of TVs so you can catch some sports while you enjoy a beer and some lunch. The staff is super friendly and make you want to come back in. Get the taco salad, so good!

Hole in the wall in Issaquah with fabulous burgers, broasted chicken and sandwiches. Very low-key decor and basic tables/chairs. Packed on weekend nights and very loud, but the best sports bar in Issaquah easily. Very friendly staff and the best value for burgers & beer is on Sundays during games.

We were big fans of Gaslamp for years and went regularly but lately it's just painful. Still love the bar food, nothing fancy just big portions of great bar food, but the service has gone completely south. I got on Yelp to see if maybe we had just offended someone but I see a post from last month saying they fired veteran staff. I don't know anything about that but do know that it's all new faces now and, while I'm sure they're all good people, they shouldn't be waiting tables IMHO. We've been ignored while waiting to put in orders, had orders arrive with only half of what was ordered ('O, did you order dinner too?'), everything just takes too long even when only half of the place is full. We spent half of our meal trying to flag down waitstaff to remind them what we were waiting for, just very disappointing and frustrating - especially when we used to look forward all week to our weekend evening at Gaslamp!!

This place is your traditional bar and grill. There is a good selection of beer on tap, and a good selection of bar food from BBQ Pork Sandwich to Fish and Chips to a Great Reuben Sandwich. The music is going strong, as are the darts and pool games. And except for the area closest to the bar, the tables are open to all ages until 10 pm. The food and beer were quick (hot and cold respectively) and the wait staff was friendly and helpful. And there is lots of parking. At 7pm on a weeknight, almost every table was full and the crowd was a good mix of all ages. Prices were quite reasonable and the fries are most excellent.

We must have been there on a very off day. Contrary to other's reviews (friends of the owners?), the service was slow and sloppy, (the waitress appeared to have had a drink or two and sort of crashed the dishes onto the table.) The food was so so. The lack of windows seemed to make it smell moldy. It was a very negative experience for our one night a week out. We won't be going back.
