Really loved their "Big Fish Cobb Salad". The service was excellent, conveniently located for dinner and a movie, and the ambiance was excellent too. Would have given them a 5 star, except we felt like the appetizers were very light on the portions for the price. I think if they improved that, based on other reviews I have read here, too, it would go a long way to improving their overall rating. We will definitely be back and probably skip the appetizers until they fix that piece of the dining experience.

Went for a late night HH at 9:15pm on Saturday. There are at least two entrances for this restaurant. It was our first visit. At first we thought the restaurant was empty because of the way the restaurant is laid out. We looked for the bar. It was at the other end near the other entrance. There were a couple of tables occupied and some patrons seated at the bar. The service staff were very friendly and attentive. There HH MENU had many things to chose from and reasonably priced. We ordered a spicy shrimp dish, Cesar salad and two orders of fish and chips. We also ordered a draft beer and iced tea. Food was delicious with generous HH portions. check came to around $37.00 plus tip. Parking was easy to find. Either on site or on the street. Lots of TVs with various sports channels. I would definitely recommend this restaurant! We will be back.

Took some out of town family friends here bc they were craving some seafood and Big Fish grill didn't disappoint. Our server was Stephanie who immediately got our drink orders and came back for more orders again as the rest of our group got in. She was very helpful in helping us decide between entrees we were considering and very attentive throughout the meal - bread was brought out as soon as the dinner order was taken, waters were filled regularly, and she checked on us throughout the meal. She also asked how I liked my kid's chocolate milk - extra chocolatey, less chocolate...(I really appreciated this bc I didn't want him having a sugar rush just before bed) For dinner, we got 2 orders of the Grilled Prawn Skewers, the Seared Spicy Ahi Tuna, the Stuffed Prawns, and a cheeseburger for the kid. Everything was amazing and not a crumb was left behind on the plate. The stuffed prawns actually had huge chunks of crab and the sauce that came with it - mmmmm! The veggies that came with the meals were fresh and still crunchy - not sautéed till soggy. The only negative, which wasn't too big of a deal since I ate it all anyway, was that my rice was a bit on the firm side. Oh and on Mondays, kids eat free so our kiddo's meal was comped.

These guys have great fish tacos. That being said their price point is ridiculous. It also feels cramped inside and their lighting is insufficient. I bet it would be great for a lunch, not so good for a quick bite to eat before the movie.

Picked up an office lunch here last week. It was nice to try something new! Great service on the phone and even better when I went to pick up the food. The host was so kind and chatted with me while I waited for the food. Another server gal came and talked to me and walked me through their happy hour menu, which I want to try in the future. I ordered the seafood Cobb which was chocked full of scallops, crab and salmon. The salmon was cooked more than my liking, but the scallops and crab were Devine. Next time, I would like to omit the salmon and get more crab or scallops. Everyone else was pleased with the food. I was pleased all the food was picked up hot and fresh and the order was correct. Will be back!

My husband and I went to Big fish grill for our date night on a Thursday. The restaurant seemed busy for a Thursday night. I had Ahi Tuna steak. I was white outside and red inside. Tests great. It was served over white rice. However, I found my rice was pink, underneath the Tuna. I wonder if they used , color to make it red inside. I never had my water refilled. Pros: - Food tests good - Clean - Low noise level Cons: - Not so great service. - Questionable food quality

Had a delicious lunch today at Big Fish Grill. Dungeness crab and shrimp salad....superb! The seafood was very fresh, salad crisp and the service was outstanding. We love the location, patio bar and the bar inside. Wonderful ambiance. We will definitely be back soon.

Solid 3 stars I hadn't been to Big Fish until last night - my friend and I were going to meet for Happy Hour and since I hadn't been to BFG I thought that would be the perfect opportunity for us to try it. We got there at 5 and had no problem finding a booth in the bar. Food: Fish tacos, artichoke dip (with crab), dynamite shrimp, lemon cake. The food while it tasted okay all came out cold. Seriously - the fish tacos had they been brought out fresh would have been really good - but instead they were cold and a little mushy. The shrimp were also cold and a little mushy. The dip was room temp at best. Again, the food would have been on point had it have been brought out when it was fresh and hot. The cake was a nice touch but you could tell it had been microwaved to warm it / freshen it up. Drinks: A couple of HH beers, vodka soda, and prosecco. Service: Our server (Kristin I think) was super sweet and checked on us regularly. While I'm not in a rush to try this place again - I would give it another shot in hopes of getting the food hot and fresh.

Yes I have read the reviews so here is mine:First we are restaurant people (we eat out about 4 times per week) and have had family in the restaurant business. I have also traveled extensively, to include many times to Europe and some of the finest restaurants in NY. That being said Big Fish is probably one of the best I have even been to. Great food, great service, great prices. If I did have a problem, I would simply let the management know and they would take care of it. By complaining on yelp you both do not help businesses fix the issues and act like a coward. I get its hard for some to act like adults, but this is a tough business to please everyone. If mistakes warranted a 1 star is that how you would rate your wife, your mother? I didn't think so.

I've eaten here twice now, but after this past experience I'm most likely not returning. I went here for some happy hour specials with family, as I remembered from the last time I went the prices were good. After being seated we picked what we wanted from the happy hour menu, but perused the main menu for drinks etc. We ordered 3 items from the happy hour menu, and the food was pretty good. The portions we received appeared to be happy hour sized, not a whole lot of food. Then came bill time, this is where the problem started. My fiancée's meal was the happy hour price, but the other two were not. When the server returned I pointed out the mistake, to which I was told he assumed we were ordering from the main menu. I told him we did not, and that we were all ordering the happy hour specials. He said he would get it fixed. The manager came and said "questions?" to which I explained again what happened. He continued to explain to me the difference between the happy hour portions and the regular menu. I told him I understood but I had only been here once before and I was unaware the portions we received were not the happy hour sizes. He left and fixed the bill, but didn't seem too happy about it. He had also stated the fish used for the tacos was Halibut where as the happy hour is cod. The tacos were definitely cod. When the bill was returned he explained the discount in a hurried fashion, and neither him or our server said goodbye, thank you, or have a good night. All in all the food was decent enough, but the service and attitude of the staff (other than a very nice host) was unsettling and not worth another visit. If a customer asks about the happy hour specials, and points to the happy hour menu, I'd say it's safe to assume that they're ordering from the happy hour menu. Even if that wasn't the case, if someone asked for the fish tacos, if you offer multiple types wouldn't the correct action be to request which type they meant? I'll be taking my business elsewhere.

Our first visit, Saturday. At first I was unsure about staying. Not only was there no one at the entry to seat us, but we waited for over five minutes until someone arrived. This despite the place being relatively quiet. Once seated, we were most impressed. I had a prime rib dip that was terrific. In fact the au just was delicious. My wife had codfish tacos and raved about them. It was a peaceful meal without the loud, raucous clatter and din so often found in eateries these days. We will return. --------------------- Our second visit was even better. A great selection on the Sunday brunch menu. I chose a Crab omelette with havarti and spinach, accompanied by Yukon Gold potatoes. The food was terrific and the service first rate. We did get seated promptly, so I am inclined to consider our first experience an aberration. Yeah, this place could get to be a habit.

I really like Big Fish, the food is really good. You should however expect overly pricey fish and chips. The halibut will run you about $18 and the amount of fish you get for that price is a little sad. Drinks are really good, they make an amazing Moscow mule. If you are in a hurry I wouldn't recommend going here, even though the place is generally empty it does take them FOREVER to seat you or to get your food or get to your check.

At least the power was on. Service was VERY slow and the restaurant was moderately busy. Food - my wife and I usually split meals, $5 split charge on Sundays "due to the fruit/pastry bar" which was mediocre and we barely even ate $5 worth from the fruit/pastry bar, some of the cheese was not very edible. We ordered the crab/cheese omelet, and it was on a bed of hollandaise sauce, which made it not very appealing, also the "Mango Salsa" was simply mango chunks from a can and no other ingredients in the "Salsa". Kids meals were ok, the French toast was defiantly better than the Belgium waffle. Probably won't be back anytime soon, especially given the prices, not worth it.

Solid choice for happy hour in the back bar, brunch on weekends, or seafood anytime. The management are super attentive as are the bar staff, while the servers are just average. The non-seafood dishes are not worth it - stick to the salmon or crab eggs Benedict on weekends and you will not be disappointed. Wide variety of beers on tap and TVs in the bar make it a great, less crowded and much classier alternative to the Ram next door.

We had a wonderful family dinner at the Big Fish Grill. The ambiance was cozy with the fire burning. The server was very kind and helpful. Restaurants can be hectic this time of year, but the food was quick and yummy and the staff was friendly. I've heard great things about the Happy Hour too - can't wait to try it out! Thank you and Merry Christmas!

Try the fish tacos and salmon risotto! I like this place, good food, good atmosphere and they have a great outdoor patio with heat lamps that overlooks the plateau shopping area. Summer is here (sort of) and we look forward to spending time on the outdoor patio!

One of the best patio Happy Hours in Issaquah. Love the fish tacos, shrimp appys & salads. Get a glass of wine & enjoy the sunshine!

Big Fish Grill is a place we drive past often. Being the seafood lovers that we are, we stopped in to see if they could live up to our hopes. We were seated right away. The décor was tasteful and our waitress, Deb, was on the ball the whole time. Our drinks were never empty and our plates cleared in a timely manner. We brought our kids and were curious to see how friendly this place would be for them. Everyone left feeling positive and agreeing that we would need to come back again soon. Success! The favorite for the kids was the mac and cheese but I tried my daughters' salmon (which was the perfect portion size) and it was delicious! I ordered the crab mac and cheese and had so much that some came home for lunch the next day. It was great and my family had their forks at the ready for a taste every time I turned around. My husband ordered the scallops and declared them delicious! We'll be adding this to our list of good local fare.

We arrived here on a Saturday night, fairly early I would say at around 5:00. We were seated promptly. The staff was nice and friendly. Seating was comfortable. I ordered a bowl of clam chowder and my spouse the green salad as starters. I picked up my spoon and put it into the bowl and pulled out a long dark brown hair. I have blonde hair and my spouse gray hair. Obviously not from us. After trying to get someones attention for at least 5 minutes I was able stop the busboy and ask for my server. When she arrived and I explained about the hair in the soup she said ok let me get you another chowder. She took the bowl and rushed away bringing back another bowl. I was a bit skeptical to try it but did anyway and it was good. No hair this time. Had the chicken picatta, potatoes and veggies for dinner which was good. Will probably go back.

A friend of mine went down to this restaurant and when it first opened and loved it!!! I was reading on past yelp comments and was thinking "My friend is smoking some good dope, this place sucks" BUUUTTTTT, I always want to give everyone a fair try, so me and my husband decided to venture out one Friday night and try it!! It's an interesting set up. The bar is in the back of the restaurant and is very very small, but cool/chic at the same time. One thing that does SUCK about this place, not enough hall way room, tables are way to close together and when people are walking down the hallway, you could easily hit someone if your not careful! I almost hit a guy in the back of the head with my purse! We started with the steamer clams an those were great! I ordered the halibut cheeks with a side of the apple/pear/blue cheese salad, that was great! had loads of sugar coated candied walnuts! I ordered the brie stuffed salmon with a champagne burre blanc sauce. It was very weird. I love salmon, but I could taste the brie and the sauce was very over powering...tasted lots of lemon which I didn't care for. My husband said his oysters were great. We ordered dessert to go and those were great! I had the apple crisp, so yummy and my husband had the key lime pie. He said it looked weird but tasted great! Bill came to about $100 after tax and tip. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't spectacular, 6 out of 10 stars!

Red Lobster in a hotel lobby. Everything about this place shrieks "chain." The decor is cliche. The menu is trite. The preparations are assembly-line. The prices are ridiculous for what you get. Ugh.

So Ram was busy so we decided to try out Big Fish. It was pretty much empty. Huh.. just right across the street. Still it took them a long time to put our table together. Our party of 10. And our service was slow. It wasn't very busy of a place. Maybe it has not been that long since they opened, so they are still trying to figure everything out, that is my only guess. If the food was better, I would come back. But for now, it would be a default place to eat if other places to eat was packed.

Oh Big Fish, how you vex me so. On the one hand you offer marginal (at best) seafood, but on the other you make a great burger. You offer a nice selection of spirits, but the people using those ingredients might make up the most incompetent bar staff on the Eastside. More contradictions than a Yelper can shake a stick at, makes my head spin. Let's start with the positive, the burger was very tasty. Cooked to my requested temperature and bursting with flavor. Let me stop you, because I already know what you're thinking, "Why would someone order a burger at a seafood restaurant?" Look at the menu here and you'll know why. Really odd combinations and no real menu focus. Back to the positive, the selection of local spirits was better than I expected, and did a nice job of highlighting vodka and gin. However, the drinks they're creating with those spirits show little to no thought, and no understanding of what a great cocktail is. Most of them are just one sweet ingredient on top of one another with a splash of liquor thrown in. If their "signature" drinks are bad, the martini I had took it to another level of terrible. I asked for it extra, extra, extra (yep three extras) dry, and it came out with so much vermouth in it, I couldn't taste anything else. It ranks all time as one of the worst martinis I've ever had. I sent it back right away, they remade it, and the second one was worse than the first. Shocking! The ingredients were solid, so the poor martini had to speak to the skill (or lack thereof) of the bartender. A martini is a staple cocktail that everyone should know how to make. I'm fully aware Murray Stenson isn't mixing drinks behind this bar, but come on guys, is no one tasting their drinks before they send them out? So disappointing... The burger is very, very good, but I was so soured on the bar experience, I'm not sure I'll be back...

Ate here on Valentine's Day without a reservation and only had to wait 10 minutes! Our server was named Alice I think? & She is phenomenal. Gives honest recommendations of the food & very attentive but not to an overbearing point. When our food came out she had us check if it was up to par and was insistent on our honesty! Now time for the food. Their mojito I wouldn't recommend. It's way too sweet and they don't include enough alcohol. I'd definitely agree with those who say it's "watered down" because that's what it tasted like. We ordered the spinach artichoke dip w/ crab ($11) & I really liked it! It comes served with grilled pita & chips. It was a good portion size for two. For our entrees we both ordered the "mixed grill" off their valentine's menu ($26). It included "grilled salmon, a tenderized steak medallion, a reduced port-wine demi glaze, garlic mashed potatoes & asparagus". Our steaks came out overlooked so they promptly took it back and then they came out too rare (as we had ordered medium rare) but we just decided to keep them at that because we were hungry. The salmon was slightly overcooked and over seasoned so it was salty and a bit dry on it's own. Everything else was cooked perfectly to my liking. I especially liked the port-wine sauce. Gosh was it tasty! Definitely added a lot to the experience of this dish. So overall I'd rate this dish "good". Oh I did want to mention that they need to work on hiring their hosts. They definitely aren't all that welcoming nor very personable. As we were leaving one have me a cold awkward stare. Nice way to end my time there... Kidding.

I came here last night... I was surprised to see a good wine list! Everywhere you go, it's the same thing; 14 Hands red wine. Really nice selection on both red and white wine. I like how everything was really clean and the waiters were even cleaning off tables and chairs. You don't see that anymore. The food was good, nothing special but it was still tasty. I will be coming back. Just hope they keep up the good work :)

This is a pretty new restaurant and yet it instantly feels dated. The decor feels like it is from the 80's. The food is very much mediocre. Nothing is too terrible, nothing is good. We went for Sunday brunch and the entrees include a trip to the pastry and fruit table. However, all of the pastries tasted like they came straight from the grocery story. There was also a disturbing number of flies overhead. I doubt we will be going back.

Saturday I had one of the worst dining experiences in recent memory at your new Big Fish Grill in the Issaquah Highlands . I can forgive poor service up to a point but after 45 minutes our two Cobb salads showed up at our table and mine was missing half the ingredients (I made no special requests for my salad). It was glaringly obvious even if my girlfriend hadn't ordered the exact same salad and hers (minus musshrooms) was perfect. It took me almost 10 minutes to find our waitress who, without even an apology, took my plate and brought me back the same salad with only one of the missing ingredients on it (granted, it was bacon). Again, she made no apology and was already walking away when I realized my salad again wasn't correct. At this point my girlfriend was almost done with her salad and the waitress didn't know what to do about mine. I told her to forget about fixing it since my girlfriend was already done with lunch. After oven an hour in the restaurant and watching my girlfriend eat her lunch, we left without even a bite of lunch from your restaurant. My girlfriend mentioned to the manager on her way back from the restroom what had happened and as we were leaving the restaurant he asked me how my meal was. I told him I didn't have a meal, but the food looked good on everyone else's table. He then realized I was the guy who my girlfriend had just told him about but instead of offering an apology, quickly said "Well I hope you'll try us again". I told him I most likely would not be back based on my experience to which he replied "Well, that's tragic". Unbelievable!

Good food, great desserts and excellent happy hour (best in the immediate vicinity). Servers are friendly but service can be a bit slow at times. Patio seating is nice when the sun is out. Right across from the movie theater so makes for a simple and fun date night.

These guys could learn some customer service skills. I placed a to go order at 6:50pm this evening and the hostess informed me it would be 10 to 15 minutes. We arrived at the restaurant to pick up the order around 7:10pm, and were told the order was still be prepared and it should be ready any minute. 5 minutes pass. Then 10. Then 15. Finally after 20 minutes (it's 7:30 now) I went to check to see what was going on with our order. After checking about the status of our order, I was told there was a miscommunication and the order was never placed with the cook. The food finally came out at 8:10pm, and the manager came out and said he was sorry and he was including some free bread for our inconvenience. Seriously? Free bread for having to await an hour past the delivery time. I thought a discount on the meal was in order, but he wasn't going to give me that. Before leaving I asked him for a feedback form because I said I wasn't happy with this, and he had the audacity to chuckle and say that's not going to do any good because the forms come back to him. Nice job in make sure I never return, and I tell everyone I know about this lousy experience.

My husband and I have been to Big Fish three times and had an amazing experience each time. We had a pretty long wait once (about 20 minutes) although we had reservations, but they were packed and couldn't exactly ask other customers to leave. Families with children filled the waiting area and the hostess brought out crackers to keep the kids happy... thank you for preventing a bunch of cranky kids (which would have made me cranky)! Although a lot of other people were dressed casually, the atmosphere lends itself to fine dining and we enjoy dressing up once in a while. This is not Western Sizzlin', thank goodness! The food has always been incredible. We've tried the scallops, salmon, and shrimp, and the steak is divine. Our servers were always very sweet and attentive, and gave excellent recommendations. Love the Prosecco!! Maybe we just got lucky, but we had a booth by the windows each time rather than having to sit in the center of the floor at a regular table. I was too full for dessert once, but the apple crisp sounded great... and it most definitely lived up to my expectations a few hours later as a "midnight snack". Of course, my review would not be complete without a restroom check, and they get an A+ for cleanliness! After seeing a clean restroom at any restaurant, I always feel safer eating the food. Haha! We'll be back again and again, as long as they keep giving us the royal treatment.

I really wanted to like this place. The staff was great, but the food was seriously lacking. I won't be back for a while - at least until they work out the kinks. Calamari: Too much salt Clam Chowder: Was good Fish and chips: Lots of batter (not great like Bonefish) Sweet potato fries: Weird taste to them. I couldn't figure out what it was, but def not potato. Fish tacos: Little pieces of fish, lots of unrecognizable stuff. I like big pieces of fish and clean tacos.

Average. I ordered a burger and probably should have at a seafood restaurant but it was pretty clear it had been cooked in advance and then re-heated when I ordered it. Service was really good. My wife ordered the scallop and prawn risotto and her impression was Meh, it's ok. It's bland.

My favorite place to go to on the Highlands. We've tried others that were good, but just didn't do much for us. This place seems to have it all. Here is a small list of what I think "all" entails: 1. Their happy hour lives up the name...except it's longer than an hour. And they offer a great variety of beers on tap, which not everyone up on the highlands does. 2. They offer a brunch on Sunday that includes a huge the array of pastries and fruit at no additional charge. I'm not sure what the hours of the brunch are but I know that we went in for lunch and once we realized that we could get crab cakes Benedict with freshly made beignets we were down!!! (we were also down for a Bloody Mary that was bloody good!) 3. Here's the thing...I'm not a big fish person. You know fish people? Yep, I'm not one of them. But they offer lots of other dishes here and they prepare both land and water loving creature dishes very well! I did venture and got the shrimp and crab salad once and it was great! So maybe I'm a shrimp and crab person? 4. Ok, so number 4 is the inspiration for this post. Don't tell the Yelp gods, but I don't write reviews for every restaurant that I grab a meal at. I have to be inspired to throw out my praise. I found some praise worthy inspiration here today..in a funny place. I found it in the Chipotle Black Bean Veggie burger. I ordered it just b/c I was also drinking a beer and I felt like pretending I was on a health kick and it was too hot out on the patio to watch a salad melt in front of me. But I'm not a big veggie burger person. Or rather, I wasn't... this was sooo freaking good!! The best thing I've had in a while and may be the only thing I will order their ever again, not b/c everything else isn't good, but b/c this was so great! So, there you go. If you want good beers, good beignets, good veggie burgers and you don't like fish, go to the place on the Highlands that has fish in it's name.

I love this place! You can't beat the setting when seated outside on a nice night. Inside is very nice as well when the sun isn't shining. The menu, décor, drinks (really cool glasses too), wait staff, menu selection..all excellent. I have never ordered anything I didn't like. It is just an all around great restaurant.

Ambiance was strange. We were walked to our table and it felt very awkward and quiet--tables were very close together. The music playing was very odd, and all you could hear was booming bass from the speakers. The server was nice and attentive, but the food was horrid. The appetizer of shrimp was deep fat fried, which we did not expect. The menu called them "dynamite shrimp" implying they were spicy. They were not. Our food took nearly an hour to come, and by that time we had lost our appetites. The place was somewhat busy, but not enough to have that length of wait. My husband ordered the paella, and it looked unappetizing. He said it was not good and barely ate much of it. He is not a picky eater, either. My pan fried cod sandwich was flavorless. The sweet potato fries were dry, flavorless, and cold. My daughter had the kids fish and chips. They were very heavily breaded and the tarter sauce was watery and didn't taste like tarter sauce at all. This meal was NOT worth fifty dollars. It was not even worth ten. I have no idea how this restaurant came to be, with such an awful menu of flavorless food. Incredibly disappointing. Do not eat here!!

My wife already reviewed this place as well, but I wanted to write one as well. To be fair, this was within a week or so of the place opening -- but man, what a major letdown. Seafood is probably my favorite thing to eat --- we live in an area where fresh, locally sourced food is abundant. I didn't get that impression with Big Fish. Staff was VERY friendly, which was great, and they attentively kept our water poured. My wife ordered a chicken piccata and I ordered their Gumbo (filled with salmon, prawns, oysters and other stuff). Both were disappointments. We ordered oyster "shooters" as appetizers. The shooters came at the same time as my Gumbo -- my wife's order wasn't placed, which we discovered 15-20 minutes later, but the manager graciously handled the situation professionally and took it off our bill (great job). Oysters came out of a bucket from a distributor (so possibly not local), surrounded by a strange white creamy sauce, sitting in store-bought cocktail sauce in a shooter glass. Bloated, and again -- not freshly shucked. Without being dramatic, my wife vomited upon returning home -- we both felt a little uneasy after eating them, but turned out OK later. My gumbo was disappointing. As my wife's review mentions, the sauce felt like it came out of a can; the pieces of fish were actually cooked nicely, but clearly individually, so the flavors never came together like a rich, real gumbo. The "Andouille sausage" in it clearly was that pre-cooked stuff at Costco, crudely cut up and thrown in the gumbo. Hugely disappointing. My wife's chicken piccata had a very nice, rich sauce, but the chicken was rushed together, so a bit overcooked and dry, with sauce overcompensating. Despite the abundance of friendly staff, her Strawberry Lemonade was completely forgotten and never arrived. The folks working here are nice and friendly. The place has real potential, and to be fair, a very large menu --- perhaps part of the problem. It's a shame --- they should consider significantly reducing their menu size, focus and highlight selling fresh, locally sourced PNW seafood, and simplify. I won't be returning for a long while -- hope they find their groove first and improve.

Literally The WORST $50 of my life. Overdone scallops and flavorless rice was my "seared scallop" meal ($22). And my friend's overdone salmon, crispy over cooked rice and flavorless blueberry sauce was their "pan seared salmon" dish ($22). Atmosphere is low lit like it's trying to be intimate...and then the 90's Britney Spears and Blink 182 come through the sound system and that illusion is instantly bunked. We almost dined and ditched--it was THAT bad.

We have been to Big Fish many times since they opened: with friends for happy hr (in both summer and winter), with our kids, and just the two of us; and every time except one, our food has been terrific. The one time it wasn't good was when I ordered the paella. It was truly awful, and when the waiter asked how everything was, I told him. He said he would bring me something else, and I ordered their wild salmon w/rice and veggies which is always great. Within a few minutes of that exchange, the manager was at our table apologizing and explaining how their paella is different, etc. He was very nice about it, and for our inconvenience told me my new meal would be free. Now that's service! The waitstaff has also been good for us as well, so I'm a little confused by some of the bad reviews. I guess everyone has different experiences, but so far ours has been really good - much better than at the overpriced Sip up the street!

I live in the Issaquah Highlands and have been here twice. First time i was here for breakfast and ordered some breakfast potato's that were dry. They tasted like they had been sitting for hours. When I talked to the manager, he stated "he had them earlier in the morning and they were fine, next time maybe come earlier". The second time I came here we ordered a hamburger that tasted like it had been sitting on the grill for hours and was microwaved. When we mentioned this to the manager he mentioned that this is exactly how they do it! We will never eat here again! Hopefully this place will fail because of its food and service!

Calamari is greasy; could not find the clams in the chowder; fish and chips is ordinary and heavily breaded fish fingers; gumbo is very salty, service is inexperienced....$80 for lunch for three is overpriced.

Service is interesting..waiter seemed shy and irritated at the same time. Got our salads wrong first time but quickly remedied. The appetizer, artichoke and crab quesadilla, was OK..soupy but tasty. Salmon ceasar salad was killer! They did the salmon just perfect. We will probably be back but they could warm up the ambiance a bit just for the fun of it.

This place is great! We are former restaurant owners, so tend to be picky. Great menu and food selections....awesome service. They just opened, and having opened several new restaurants, I must commend them for their smooth transition! We will be going there at least 2 -3x's each month.

I had high hopes for this place and unfortunately very disappointed. Had to request for bread and drinks after 15 minutes of sitting down, got the bread after 30 minutes of sitting down, and never got my ordered drink. They obviously have plenty of staff because our water glasses never emptied. Oyster shooters: came in a shooter glass and not the shell, sitting in store-made cocktail sauce. Large, very milky, smelled questionable. Gumbo: rice on it was still white, meaning they threw the rice on top of the sauce, and all the seafood in it had it's independent color. I'm no gumbo cook, but this was obviously thrown in a pan together with other half-cooked seafood in a sauce that seems like Campbell's vegetable and tomato soup. Also, the oyster shooters came in exactly the same time as the Gumbo....appetizers are supposed to come first, no? Chicken Picatta: Chicken was burned underneath and very very tough. I was dreading getting a meal that has been rushed since it's already late, and it came as I expected, burned on the bottom, stringy and tough. They completely forgot about this order and it came 20 minutes after the oyster and the gumbo. Thankfully, it was covered by the restaurant. All in all, never going back there again and will definitely tell my neighbors in the highlands. I understand they just opened and that service can be slow. Very slow service, didn't get our ordered drinks, forgot one of our dishes, and I had to walk to the counter to pay after receiving my bill for we've been there a total of 1 hour and 35 minutes and had been waiting for someone to take my credit card. Lastly, about 30 minutes after leaving the restaurant, my spouse and I called the restaurant to report nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea and to please check their oysters.

This was our second time at this restaurant and each time has been incredibly bad. The food is mediocre and not worth the price. The service is painfully slow. Hopefully this restaurant will soon close and a better one will take its place. Avoid at all costs and choose another place for your meal.

We had already put our name in at Ram across the street and were told that it was a half hour wait so we decided to go over and see if we could get into Big Fish Grill. There was plenty of room but the manager at the door was so rude in our interaction that our entire family had a brief discussion and decided we would rather go back and wait a half an hour at Ram rather than give our money to this restaurant. After reading the other reviews about how bad the customer service is here I'm glad we decided to go back to Ram. Then when I see decided to call the manager and tell him our experience, we were never offered an apology. He just kept saying, "I'm sorry you feel that way. I'm sorry you feel that way." He didn't say, "I apologize that we treated you poorly." They took no responsibility. I would never go back here.

We tried BFG on a football night with mixed results. One of the owners responded and said how great the bartender was and to give it another try. Well we did, hh food remains good but the bartender has no people skills and is extremely slow, we were only ones at the bar. This Seattle aloof is not cool or profitable, take it from a native.

Service was good, very friendly and for a new restaurant with a vast drink and food menu our sever was quite knowledgable. Getting water and drinks took a few minutes but after that we were very well attended to, appears they don't want to rush you but that can also be interpreted as slow. Appetizer and cocktails came out quickly, we received warm bread and butter, too, but noticed not all tables did. The Big Fish Cobb was chock full of perfectly cooked seafood, there was at least a 4-5 ounce piece of salmon and the Gumbo my friend had was tasty. The manager checked on our table and others around us. It was pouring outside so we opted for dessert. Fruit cobbler was piping hot, fresh, flaky, warm with a nice scoop of vanilla ice cream. Only criticism was that the crust was a little dry and stuck to the dish. $65 meal with drinks, appetizer, entrees and dessert, it met expectations and I look forward to going back when they've been open longer and the staff is more experienced with the space and menu.

After first reading the Yelp reviews, I wasn't very interested in trying out Big Fish Grill. However, it turned out to be an enjoyable Thursday evening with good food, just-right attentive service, and a comfortable setting. Granted, the restaurant was not busy, and for a while we had the little side room all to ourselves which made for easy conversation. That probably would not be the case at peak times. Bottom line: we had a tasty meal and left satisfied.

Thanks Big Fish for coming to Issaquah! If you only eat fast foods, then you probably don't care. But the rest of us know that Issaquah has been tragically short of good quality sit-down restaurants. Welcome Big Fish! Along with Coho Cafe, it is now the favorite for me and my wife. Where else can you go?? We don't eat meat, so Jak's is useless, since it has very little of non-steaks. Fins Bistro has decent main courses, but horrific sides, reminding me of school lunches. Plus the owner is generally there bullying his staff. Flat Iron Grill is good if someone else is paying, otherwise the prices are just not acceptable. Same for Sip, plus the folks there seem to have an attitude. Pogacho just does not have enough interesting food. That leaves McDonalds, Subway, and a slew of no-name orientals. Alas. Anyhow, our meal at Big Fish could hardly have been better. We got comfortable seats, quick service, a very pleasant waitress, lovely food, rapid cooking in the kitchen, copious parking, and decent prices. You just can't ask for more.

I am a local Highlands resident and have been to Big Fish three times now since open, twice in the dining room and one time in their bar for happy hour. Each time was great and exceeded my expectations. Their happy hour is the best deal is the Highlands. In the restaurant, the server each time was excellent and the food was just as great. I had the crusted halibut and my wife had the fish and chips. The value for this restaurant is great, not that expensive for the quality of the food. I need to make mention of some of these comments prior to mine. I have written probably a handful of Yelp reviews over the years and this one I felt I had to write because this place is great and there is a reason people are turning less and less to Yelp reviews for a true sense of the restaurant experience. It seems everyone now goes into a restaurant looking for things to say wrong so they can bash a place for anything and everything. There is a reason these people are called "Yelpers". I have seen reviews on here for 1 star because they thought their "food was too salty." I have been to several 1 star quality restaurants, and this isnt it. TRY THIS PLACE and judge for yourself. I am a non-interested party that just thinks "Yelpers" are having their way with these reviews. This place is great and I am glad it is next door to me.

Mother's Day Brunch disappointment. Should have known something was up when there were tons of tables available. I ordered dungeness crab benedict. The first time it came out there were raw egg whites on the top. The second time the eggs were completely cooked through. The hollandaise sauce tasted like nothing. The potatoes were horrid. My mother commented that if she closed her eyes and had one she wouldn't know what it was. I rarely meet a potato I don't like, so thanks for that unique experience I guess. Could have had an awesome breakfast at 12th Ave Cafe for half the price. Will do that next time.

We were looking for something fish on Monday 01/13/2014. We started with wine which was recommended by the waiter. I think he doesn't drink wine. We decided to have their: Dynamite Shrimp $8 Tempura batter, sweet and spicy, dynamite sauce. Extremely salty and no sauce. We just thought it was bad when we ordered additional sauce and then discovered it never had any. By now entrées arrived and waiter TOOK rest of appetizer now that we had sauce. They did remove this from the bill thankfully. Bronzed Salmon: Served with a jalapeño beurre blanc sauce, rice and fresh vegetables. $20 Sauce was very bland with little hint of jalapeño. Salmon was grilled to blackened and well overdone. Paella: Make that, Paella? This was not Paella. It was some overcooked seafood and an Andouille sausage chopped up and thrown into a overly saffron rice. I say overly because this was never cooked together in a pan and "married". It was thrown into "speed dating" with some hope 2 minutes before serving. This could my worst dining experience in the last 10 years. There should be minus stars. In that case it's a -3 stars. (-5 stars the building caught fire and attacked by wait staff). P.S. The 5 star rating on this site from Jessica I believe is the owner. The other one must be an employee.

Undercooked salmon..I really wanted this variety as an option near our house. I order the daily special, "Salmon stuffed with crab". I could overlook that the salmon was actually stuffed with crab salad (onions, breading, etc.). No big deal, just didn't expect it from the explanation. However, the mushy middle of the salmon could not be overlooked. You're called Big Fish Grill and you can't cook Salmon? Sucked. My wife's halibut was ok. The crust still had large nuts, however her fish was cooked very good.

Service was fine. Waiter was a little longwinded when we asked what his favorites were. It's cool to name 1-3 dishes across the whole menu, when you pick one item from each and every category it tends to defeat the purpose and ends up being information overload. BF's Seared Ahi was totally overdone, the salad underneath it completely undressed. My butternut squash risotto was completely flavorless, mushy and overwhelmingly swimming in butter. I LOVE butter, don't get me wrong, but I couldn't discern anything other butter in the risotto. I was psyched for an autumnal, squashy flavor and just... nothing! The salmon that topped it was very overcooked, the seasoning on it was great and it looked fantastic, but I just couldn't get past how dry and overdone the fish was. Small fry got the halibut fish and chips, the batter was OK but a touch heavy and the fries were pretty underwhelming. Teenager creature had a cod sandwich and reported it "fine" but for a 15 year old boy who just finished after school sports, he'd eat cardboard and not have a problem. "Fine" isn't resounding praise. The kids ate most of their food, but I'd say that BF's dish and mine were both still half full when the plates were cleared. Waiter didn't even ask if there was an issue. BF's lemon drop martini was half empty and rimmed in a TON of powdered sugar (what?!), my moscow mule was fine, but on the whole it was definitely not worth the money to eat here. Sucks because the location is super convenient and it looks like their patio will be a great spot when the weather is nice.

I had wanted to try the restaurant since it was new in the area. I saw many of the reviews that were negative so I wondered if I should or not because of this. It seems like the restaurant had most of the bad reviews while the bar had better reviews. The restaurant is quite narrow and hard to walk everywhere. I went into the bar on a Sunday while football games were broadcasting. The Seahawks game had been on before and it was probably very busy but when I came in it was post-game and not busy. Bar staff was complaining about it being busy. I thought they were talking about I was there. One staff member was complaining about his schedule and that he would sooner be in another bar drinking himself. Even though not busy, service was not great. I got offered a drink but it got 25 minutes to ask if I wanted food, and then after that took about another 25 minutes to take my order. The bartender said I thought you wanted to think about it more. I was surprised he did not come back to check on me and assumed. I asked a couple menu questions and the bar staff could not answer them but had to go to the kitchen to get the answer such is what is the soup of the day. I ordered the grilled shrimp cocktail. The kitchen seemed slow to get this out even though not busy. Presentation was substandard. Grill shrimp in a glass with like a shredded coleslaw with no dressing just cocktail sauce. The small plate underneath was covered with this coleslaw or salad (apparently for decoration-in my thinking, if it is not meant to be ate, then it doesn't belong on the plate. The shrimp were very good but the decorative salad was distracting. I think this dish would be better with more shrimp, less of this salad or give the salad or whatever is added some purpose. I ordered cod stuffed with shrimp and crab, if I remember correctly, and a cream sauce and rice and vegetables. All was very good but still took a long time to come out of the kitchen for how not busy they were. I wonder how long food would take if they were busy. Bartender was better towards the end of the service. I will give them another try in the restaurant with my teenage son who loves seafood. We will look at service,, knowledge of menu by staff, and taste and quality of food and length of time to come from the kitchen. So overall assessment food good but some dishes need work. I think staff needs more help in menu knowledge and service. Training comes from management. Addendum: Came back again with son in restaurant and much better. Couldn't get in the Ram. Served right away and promptly. I ordered "Jumbo" scallops but they weren't really jumbo and there was a saffron leaf left in my saffron rice. Otherwise my dish in taste and quality was perfect. Son ordered shrimp and scallop pasta. He liked it. Appetizer-was pan fried oysters-good too. They won over the Ram this round.

Had a great lunch today! Fantastic deck for enjoying the beautiful day. Everything was clean, and nice looking! Love the well put together decor! Hostess was very attentive! Server was great, food was fantastic. Pricing was great! The GM took time to speak with us - always a good feeling! You could tell he was happy to have us there and make our time enjoyable! You need to open up a Big Fish in the Arlington area!!!!! We will be back!

My husband and I came with our baby this time for brunch. We were pleasantly surprised it was also Seattle Restaurant Week so it made sense to order their 3 course menu for $15. We both ordered the clam chowder which my husband loved but I found it a little salty. He ordered the fish and chips and I ordered the salmon blt. The fish and chips were pretty good but I agree to another yelper that the portion size is a bit small. There were 5 pieces the size of a finger long but two fingers thick. My salmon was a bit on the dry side but I have had much drier before so the sandwich was only okay. Last came our dessert and my husband ordered a marionberry cobbler and I had their burnt creme. The marionberry was okay but nothing memorable. The creme in my burnt creme seemed more watery than I have ever had so I am thinking it wasn't cooked long enough or set before they put the caramel on top to burn. So, that was a disappointment too. Our waiter was okay. He came by to check on us once in awhile but again, not an overly nice guy. Another guy came over who was nice and more enthusiastic which was a nice change. So, I dock another star because when we left, my husband found out he forgot his credit card there. He called the resturant and spoke to the hostess and she immediately dismissed him and said she didn't hear or see anything about a missing card. She basically wanted him to leave her alone and didn't have a care that he misplaced his card. First thing she should've done was ask the manager at least instead of giving a lame excuse. About 5 minutes later while my husband was speaking to his credit card company to cancel his card the restaurant called to tell him they had his credit card and will be putting it in a safe. Well, thanks, but a bit too late!!

I gave this a shot - the staff is friendly but there's nothing great about the food. The portion sizes are small and its Small Fish not Big Fish. The pricing seems to be right. Their location is great though - I may still go again if I'm catching a movie - but I'll know to keep my expectations low.

To start off the both hostesses were less than enthusiastic about seating us for my birthday. After we were seated we were not told who our server was. Which would have helped because we did not meet him for the next 15 minutes this was on a pretty slow friday mind you. After some of us received our drinks 20 minutes after our order the other half were told there weren't enough clean dishes. Horrible service. The food was good but not worth the time or money. Go to coho or sip instead.

Went there with somewhat low expectations based on reviews, but was pleasantly surprised. We sat in the bar and watched the Huskies game. The bar area was large and had plenty of tvs. We shared appetizers, and tried some of their house cocktails. The staff were very friendly and eager to please. The crab cakes were delicious and well priced considering you received 3 of them. The coconut shrimp also good, even though slightly overlooked. Portion was again more than I would have expected for the price. Oyster shooters were nothing special but not bad by any means. Only disappointment was clam chowder, due to its texture, not that it didn't have plenty of clams. Overall good experience, we'll come back to try more of the menu. Especially happy hour which by reading menu, looks like great deal.

Went there last night because the other restaurant we hoped to go to had an hour wait. Given all the bad reviews we were hesitant to go but decided to give it a chance. We will definitely go back. My halibut was excellent as was my wife's sole. Maybe they had issues when they first opened but we didn't have any complaints.

This was our first time at Big Fish and we have a very good meal. I had the fish tacos, and they switched out the beans for fries. My husband tried the New England Clam Chowda. We are from Boston and have yet to find anything that is close to NE clam chowda. Big Fish's was pretty close. A few too many potatoes but good clam flavor. We will be back.

My wife and I eat here all the time, we never leave thinking the food is bad or to expensive compared to other similar establishments. We like there salads, the Caesar salad with anchovies is much better than most. I really like the seared rare Ahi Salad; the Ahi is Sushi grade and has a slight smoked flavor and the almond sesame dressing is very tasty. The only reason I'm giving a four star is because they have trouble cooking their Salmon, it's usually over done. The seating is cramped, however we like to sit in one of their window booths, it's much better and you can see outside. The breakfast was actually pretty good, I loved the Eggs Benedict. Try the Seafood Gumbo on the dinner menu, I enjoyed it a lot, however I didn't care for the oysters, they're too big the taste just didn't go good with the dish.

My experience with BigFish was like others on this review board. Overly priced food, I had the fish and chips (cod). They were four small highly breaded greasy pieces of fish. The chips were just french fries, nothing special. Service was ok. Next time I'll be going to the Ram.

this was not a good night for the wait staff, bar tender or kitchen. - lets just say beyond poor food preparation, horrible timing between courses, wait staff that didn't know the menu and were late at every turn...it was hard to find something good to say about this place. - especially avoid ordering anything but the most well known drinks - and don't expect them or your appetizers to be served at the right sequence. - oh and the price was at least 25-30% over value of comparable restaurants (comparable in their intent if not execution in this case). - why go here? close this place down now and start over.

I went big fish grill with my wife for a happy hour in the afternoon. We ordered a couple of beers, ahi tuna and prawn appetizer. Nothing fancy, just want to check out their happy hour menu. Maybe because it was happy hours, both dishes were small sized. There were 5 pieces if tuna in the plate, and about same number of prawn in the other dish. So the portion wise, it's not very impressive. As per the taste, the ahi tuna was about average. Let's be honest, it's pretty hard to mess up ahi tuna as long as the tuna is fresh. 5 secs of sear on each side then you're ready for plating. The prawn was a big hit because of the excellent sauce. The sauce was in Thai style with a balanced flavor of spicy, sour and sweet. It was rather spicier than sweet, but went great with the prawn. In fact, the sauce was so good that I asked a to-go container for the left over. In summary, it was an OK place for happy hour. Got some good dishes but more to the pricey side.

Last night we stopped in Issaquah Highlands at The Big Fish. it was a Monday night and we were easily brought to a table outdoors on the patio. First things first The atmosphere is very comfortable out on the patio with views of the hillside and a park. Waitress was very attentive and friendly but service waned as the evening went. Drinks/appetizers The first thing we order are drinks. I choose a POM pomegranate martin, the best I've ever had. I ended up ordering two. You can choose sugar or salt on the rim I highly recommend you choose salt with the sweet POM juice. Appetizers next. We ordered calamari. If you like lightly battered , slightly greasy with dip on the side, this should do. Dinner Seafood fettuccini was in a red sauce. Should have read the menu as the man of the house prefers a garlic cream white sauce. I had the grilled shrimp garlic basted with vegetables. The flavor was just a amazing. Dessert None too full. The menu was tempting. See note below. Take away tip: 1). Seems like Monday nights are easy to get on the patio 2) POM pomegranate margarita totally rocks 3) A great place to hang out and enjoy the Issaquah Highlands community. 4) the Regal movie theater is right next door. Makes for a perfect dinner and a movie date night. I give it a 4. This restaurant is a bit chancy for our first time. It could be a hit and miss but I'd be willing to go again have drinks and dessert The dessert menu offered evening coffee drinks and I think I would try that and pull the whole package together. I love Happy Hours and will need to return and try out there menu.

The prices are pretty high at this restaurant for the small portions and average food. The grilled salmon with beans and rice was so tiny that for the first time I had to reach for bread to feel full. And I usually carry back half my food. It would have been better if something had stood out but sadly nothing did. I would rather go to Wildfin Grill in the Issaquah valley than this restaurant for a decent seafood dish. The service was so cold and rough that they didn't really seem interested in our order. I would have given them 3 but due to the service have to downgrade to 2.

We went here for Happy Hour. The happy hour food choices were all good and had good value for the money. Drinks were good too. The server was attentive and allowed us to continue ordering from the HH menu even though it was a little after 6PM.

We came for a celebratory dinner on Friday evening and it was the first time dining with Big Fish for all three of us. The food was very good and well prepared. We started with the calamari appetizer which was served with green onion and a jalapeño aioli which I really liked (it had a little bit of a kick) but it was tough to share and divvy out using forks because it came in one of those metal/ paper tall cone things which is good for finger food. I would have preferred it be served in a different dish. My mother and mother in law each had a glass of wine which we were pleased with, I had a lemonade mixed with soda water. Our entrees were the scallops, a chicken and shrimp dish, and the cioppino seafood stew. Given that the food was good for the price point, I give a three star review because we had high expectations for a nice seafood restaurant and the waitstaff seemed a bit inexperienced. We were seated in the back corner to the right of the front door so I think we may have missed out on the full experience. The three star review rather than a four or five is given due to the waitstaff. The first gentleman who waited on us was aloof, cold, not welcoming or friendly what-so-ever, borderline rude. I have been a server myself in the past and it's really not very hard to smile and be engaged. We were handed off to another gentleman who had only worked there for three weeks but completely outdid the first guy because of his demeanor. It was just a really bad first impression. Food was good, came out fast, and we still left a 20% tip. If there's a next time, I'll ask for a table in the main dining room.

I have had two overwhelmingly different experiences at the Big Fish Grill. The first experience was great - I came here for happy hour during the summer when the patio seating was open, the sun was out, and summer cocktails were in full bloom. Then, to follow the stereotypes of a Seattle Fall, I returned a few weeks ago when outside was cold, rainy and dark. This time around, the food was totally BLAH. I ordered the salmon which was supposed to come grilled with rice and vegetables. To start, the salmon was charred on the bottom but somehow cold in the middle. I had asked for it medium-well which is not at all what I received. The rice was dry and lacking in flavor and the vegetables also seemed really dry but had an awful lot of seasoning on it. Oh, and while the cocktails were awesome during the summer, they were really watery and tasteless this time around. I MIGHT come back for happy hour just to grab drinks before a movie but I'm not sure that I'd come here for food again.

At the recommendation of the server, I had the pesto seafood pasta. It was not very good and really overpriced. The sauce was dry, the pasta over cooked and the scallops undercooked. My dinner companion was equally underwhelmed with his entre. The spinach-artichoke dip appetizer was pretty good as were the Caesar salad but nothing special. Both I and my dinner companion were sick the next day. In short, the dinner was pretty expensive and the food pretty poor. I love seafood but won't go back to the Big Fish Grill.

This place is very convenient if you live in a the Issaquah area. Their happy hour menu is great! Crab cakes are delicious and so is the shrimp. Fish tacos are good. In the warmer months it is nice to sit out on the patio. Good place to take the kids. Very casual atmosphere. Prices are in line with food/drinks. All in all a great neiborhood restruant with good service and good food.

I took my mother to Big Fish Grill for her birthday, expecting extraordinary seafood. I ordered the grilled salmon and was disappointed. The portion was way too small (I'm not a big eater-- I'm only 5'4 and weigh 115 lbs). It was serves with rice (plain white) and green beans. None of my dish tastes as though it had been seasoned in any special way. It was all very plain. Our waiter was nice enough and prompt. This was a disappointing experience because I could have gotten this dish at any local hotel restaurant. It was not anything special

If I could, I would rate Big Fish Grill as 3 1/2 stars. I stopped by for a company dinner, and we were seated in a separate room right off of the entrance. The space is decent (relatively new), and the various servers gave us pretty good service for our large group. I ordered: Pear and walnut salad: decent, although the salad dressing was a little too tart for my taste. Halibut and chips: 4 pieces of halibut were good, although I would have preferred crispier fries. Marionberry cobbler: pretty big portion, served with ice cream. Overall, the food was good, with lots of choices to choose from. I would come back if I was in the area.

Best Happy Hour in Issaquah. Was there with a large group and we ordered 10 items off the menu. Everything was excellent and the portions generous.

A solid meal in a nice setting. Some friends suggested we eat here for dinner. I had never heard of Big Fish Grill and didn't know what to suggest. The hostesses at the front of house were very friendly and helped me to our table very quickly. The wait staff was friendly and on top of their game. My dinner was quite good and I would definitely come back again. I had the house salad to start, which was a bed of spinach with a vinaigrette on top, adorned with feta cheese, onion, cherry tomatoes, and a hard boiled egg. The veggies tasted fresh and the salad was nice. For a main entree, I had the grilled wild salmon with vegetables. The salmon arrived tasty and the veggies were still crisp and fresh tasting. I would definitely ask for them to cook the salmon a bit less next time - it was well done and just on the border of dry. I don't get to the highlands very much, but if I do Big Fish Grill will be on the radar as a place to eat.
