The ambience is casual, but the service is exceptional and fast. We tried different rolls and they were all delicious and fresh. A gem to be discovered.

Has it really been two years since I've visited? I'm not sure how much has changed but it was a much more enjoyable experience. My boyfriend and I ate lunch here last week. There was a mild crowd. We were greeted and seated right away. They served us hot, fragrant towels to wipe our hands and miso soup while we looked at the menu. I ordered the tempera udon and my boyfriend ordered the beef bowl. While still a bit pricey, the portions were decent. The udon broth tasted a bit off so probably wouldn't order again. The beef bowl was much better so I'd recommend it instead. They serve a generous size of beef (which turned out quite flavorful) on top of lettuce and rice. Thank goodness they eliminated edm and replaced it with elevator music.

This is a great sushi spot with reasonable prices. We had lunch here and it was very enjoyable. If you looking for a local place that seems to be reliable this will work.

Aji is great when it comes to the food, service and atmosphere, but the prices are higher than what I would expect. Between two of us, we shared three dishes and the bill totaled about $32. We ordered a Shrimp Tempura Roll ($6.5), Dragon Roll ($11) and a Chicken Katsu plate w/ rice and salad ($11.5). Both sushi items were good, tasted fresh and had a substantial amount of fillings. However, they seemed a bit overpriced, specifically the Shrimp Tempura roll which only came with 6 pieces. The Chicken Katsu plate did contain a generous portion....katsu is one of my go-to dishes and this serving could have easily doubled that of other restaurants. The breading was thin and perfectly crisp! The service here is exceptional. We went on a Sunday at 2:30 and the restaurant was not busy at all. Partly because of this, the waitresses were extremely attentive and checked on us frequently. (TIP) The menu is really extensive - there are SO many sushi options...it's probably a good idea to skim through the descriptions online first if you're interested in the specialty sushi. Finally, you're greeted with warm towels and miso soup while browsing the menu. The towels used to be pretty common at Japanese restaurants, but these days I'm seeing it less and less...I'm glad Aji still makes it part of their routine.

Overall, Aji is a decent place for sushi in Issaquah, We stopped by on a Friday night, and it was packed. We entered in the front entrance, and someone took our name down. Luckily, we only waited about 10 minutes for a table at the sushi bar. Once we were seated, I saw that they actually had people waiting from the back entrance. Not the most efficient way to have people waiting in two locations, which caused confusion. We ordered a sashimi platter, and the fish was pretty good. I wish they had more variety, though: it come with 15 pieces, but it is really 3 pieces of 5 different kinds. I also ordered the tempura: while decent, the tempura came out about 15 minutes before my sashimi. My wife ordered seafood udon (ok), and some salmon sashimi, which was good. Again, her sashimi came out way before my sashimi plate. One thing that can be improved on is the service. While friendly, the wait staff seemed overwhelmed by the dinner rush. As I mentioned before, two waiting areas caused a lot of confusion. Finally, the timing of the dishes could be improved. However, the most important thing at a restaurant is the food, and the sashimi was fresh.

Needs more staff to creat better service. Felt pretty rushed frantic atmosphere. Only two girls waiting and hosting the entire restaurant. It was busy for a Thursday and was a little disappointed based off the 4 star review. Sushi rolls run between 11 and 15 bucks - decent price but the quality didn't back the price. Crunch roll tasted old and had no crunch. Got the teriyaki chicken plate and came with decent amount of chicken, scoop of rice, and salad. It was just OK. Appetizers were very standard, got the tempura vegetables. A little more greasy than normal. Probably won't make this place a frequent stop. Needs some service help and fresher ingredients.

My experience was ok here, but it is overpriced. I came during happy hour and was the second party in the restaurant. I ordered from the sushi bar and was served quickly. The staff was friendly and fast (though my water was never refilled) I had the Excalibur roll($12) which was good, but I felt the tempura was not necessarily fresh. I also had the spicy salmon ($6) off the happy hour menu which was ok. I might be back.

Great place, great food , great staff. All you need for a good sushi place. They have a cool design for the rolls and some neat effects. Fun date place

Food here is always amazing the service was a little slow last time but the food makes up for it . All of the staff are very friendly and prices are great too . I love that they have a menu for kids as well. My go to place for sushi for sure

We've been here several times (dine-in and carry-out). I normally get their Caterpillar roll but decided to try the Tiger Eye (special of the day), which consisted of smoked salmon, cream cheese, jalapeño, deep fried, topped with unagi sauce and wasabi mayo. It was probably the best sushi roll I've ever had in my life! Everything about it was perfect, and it absolutely had a nice crunch. Presentation and taste were excellent! Love that it was cut into small bite size pieces. You won't believe how content because of that!! I also ordered the Avocado salad. It came with a sweet dressing - perfect for my sweet tooth. Avocados were fresh and just ripe. My date had the Chicken katsu and it's always very consistent. Nice golden brown color and crunch. Cooked just right. Check out the photos!

BEST SUSHI IVE EVER HAD! BEST SERVICE I'VE EVER HAD! The waitress literally brought me a new hot tea just because she noticed mine looked too dark. Waitresses are extremely attentive without being annoying. Sushi Chefs are friendly and skilled at their job, the sushi is expensive but the quality is so worth it! I would come here again and again if I lived in Issaquah. The rainbow roll and the spider roll were magnificent, our baked scallop roll was perfection. 5 stars for Griffendor! (For all you Harry Potter lovers out there)

I was pretty excited to try this place. Unpleasantly surprised... We walked in and it was pretty busy. Almost all tables were taken but no one at the sushi bar. The hostess/waitress/busgirl showed us toward the sushi bar. We then told her we'd rather have a table and she turned around and threw the menus on a table. And then started to walk away when she said "here." Ok, bad attitude. We then ordered appetizer tempura and two 'kitchen' plates. They were OK. Chinoise down the street is way better for sushi and tempura. We also ordered the Crunch Roll which really was BAD. It tasted blatantly like old oil. The shrimp wasn't crispy at all. Probably fried some time before us arriving. The outside also wasn't crunch, like they rolled it in panko breadcrumbs in the raw. Ultimately disappointing. Overall experience was a let-down I'm sad to say. We were excited for the 4 star reviews they have but I don't feel they deserve but maybe 3 MAX

My first food memories all center around this tiny, authentic restaurant in California around the corner from my grandparent's house. The food was amazing, and it was a place where my entire family gathered. Since they closed, I've been chasing the food dreams of my childhood... And So far Aji is the only place that even holds a candle to that place. I've only been twice, but that's twice in one week. And both times very very different experiences. The first time was a Sunday around 5, so before any dinner rush. The restaurant was not very busy, so we were seated immediately and given warm towels and miso soup. You guys, it's the little things that make me so happy. I haven't had a warm towel before a Japanese meal since that old restaurant. And maybe it's just that old restaurant ruining me as a Japanese restaurant goer, but miso soup is like chips and salsa in a Mexican restaurant.-- it should come complimentary. My friend ordered the Fire Roll and Exit 18 Roll, and I ordered the Sashimi Salad Bowl. Everything was excellent. The presentations were beautiful (the Fire Roll literally comes to your table on fire!). It was a lovely experience. The following Friday, I decided to take my mom to dinner, and seriously, I had been craving that damn Sashimi Salad all week. It was a DREAM. My work week is not Mon-Fri so I often forget it's the weekend when it is. My mom and I arrived at about 7:30 and the restaurant was crazy busy... Because it was Friday. It took us a few minutes to even be able to put our name in, but thankfully, they took our name and number so we could walk around while we waited. We were told there was a 30 minute wait, so we did a little shopping and built up an appetite, and returned about 30 minutes later to check on the table. It was still nuts inside and all the waitresses and hostesses were running around like crazy. We literally stood there for at least 10 minutes before we were able to get anybody's attention to ask them how much longer the wait is. I'll admit it, I get very hangry, and I know my mom does too, so I was worried about the wait because we definitely needed to fill our bellies. We were finally able to talk to one of the girls and she apologized for the craziness and said two seats had just opened at the sushi bar and sat us there. Understandably, the service was much slower than my first visit, but everyone was super apologetic and sweet, and the sushi chefs were amazing to watch. We ordered a couple rolls and the sashimi salad, all to share. My mom was also impressed by the warm towels and the miso soup... When the food finally came, it was certainly worth the wait. Everything was delicious, just as I had remembered. Believe me when I said I need a lot of variety in my food... But that I could have that freaking sashimi salad for lunch every day and be a very happy girl. Seriously. It's THAT good.

Casual ambience, plenty of seating space, and fresh food. We were offered warm towels to wipe our hands on sitting down. Service was a little slow despite going at 5 pm but nothing too bad. We were planning to order off the happy hour menu, but there are a limited number of items on it and there is almost nothing vegetarian except seaweed salad. We ordered a few vegetarian rolls and a fire roll from the special menu. The roll was nicely presented and well-made. Some other reviewers have commented that they were offered complementary items like miso soup or seaweed salad or a dessert, but that did not happen in our case. Their prices are similar to Umi Sake House in Seattle downtown but it's not as cool or fun. The food is pretty good but I do miss the extensive happy hour menu at some downtown spots. However, I do appreciate a good sushi place on the Eastside. 3.5 stars.

I live in the highlands, just stop by for lunch at Aji Sushi, first time there got the Lunch Bento the quality was pretty good & authentic. But the waitress service was sub-par, no refill on the water did not come to check on you and didn't say thank you when you leave.

  • Camille D.

This wasn't a place I'd go out of my way to go to. It's kind of hidden, and the service was okay. She took forever and a day to come back for our order because they only had one server on during lunch. It was also overpriced. The rolls are presentable, and they had nice warm towels for our hands. I can see that a lot of people enjoy this place though.

Our second visit was a much more pleasant experience. We were also lucky enough to get one of the last few orders of Kobe beef. The table behind us had a couple of kids. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I could tell the whole party was enjoying their meal without seeing them. :)

First of all, I live in the city and would never have come to Issaquah for sushi had it not been for my Eastside sister, who dismissed my protests and assures me Aji was worth the drive. I was skeptical. But after the first few bites, I was amazed... Why %$&@ have I been spending so much money at Momiji when the rolls here are so much better?!? Holy crap you guys, these rolls are phenomenal. And HALF THE PRICE of lower quality product on the hill. My favorites were the Aji roll, Fireroll (literally comes out flaming to your table), and Exit 18. The Omakase was also impressive - the head chef here clearly cares about presentation as well as flavor. I'll be heading east on the weekends now for my sushi fix, sorry Momiji.

The cuts of fish are really fresh and delicious. The price is a bit steep. I can buy two "premium" rolls for 30 dollars. I don't think this is reasonable at all.

I am still discovering the world of Issaquah dining...I've been to the highlands before, but this place seems to be secretly mixed into the many new condo and apartment buildings so that you can hardly notice it. My friend and I came here for dinner and were immediately given warm towels and miso soup before we ordered. We were there in time for the happy hour which had quite a few options. We indulged in some rolls...and then also went for the chicken yakisoba. While I had leftovers for the whole next day, (at least 2 extra meals) I am so glad that I did because this place was really good. I don't think I've ever had such high quality chicken in a teriyaki place. I hate when you bite down on those really fatty pieces or the ones that you know they actually probably should have thrown away. The sauce was sweet but not heavy and definitely didn't taste greasy at all. The service was really friendly & really quick. My friend and I have declared that this is our new favorite spot to come to before a movie.

Do you like sushi? Do you like it made with high quality ingredients? Do you like to have lots of menu options to choose from? Are you an Eastsider who gets a little anxious getting to/from Seattle but really like places like Umi and Japonessa? Then get yo' fine ass down to Aji sushi ASAP because it's perfect for you! I've come here a couple times and I've enjoyed it each time. The ambiance isn't quite as sexy as the downtown sushi joints, but it's pleasant and it fits in the Issaquah Highlands well. One definite downside relative to the Seattle spots is that this place is beer/wine/sake only, which is too bad. I've tried the bento boxes and a handful of rolls here. The number of choices of rolls is fantastic. They have your classic rolls such as a California Roll or a Spicy Tuna roll, but they also have some Aji specialty rolls which are unique to this restaurant. They have other traditional Japanese dishes such as teriyaki bowls, yakisoba/udon, and sashimi platters. The bento box combos are good too, but you are limiting yourself to not really trying a good cross section of the sushi, which is certainly their forte. If you are only going to come here once in your life, I'd recommend trying a few of the different specialty rolls making sure you incorporate the Red & white to have the best experience. Service is okay. I had to ask for napkins and silverware a couple times when the food arrived, but no big deal. Your water will be filled constantly and the people are nice. Parking is easy (private lot behind the restaurant), food is good, and the prices are reasonable. If you meet the criteria outlined at the beginning of this review, you can't really do much better (as long as you don't mind not having a cocktail)!

We ordered the Aji roll...which was huge but at the price it better be...it wasn't bad. Got the scallop roll and it had hardly any scallops but lots of fake krab...it was not impressive.....do not order. Also,we got the spider roll which had a little sliver of spider crab but big chunk of fake krab.....seriously they use a lot of the fake krab in the rolls.....way too much for the high price. The scallop and spider rolls were totally failures. For the high price I expect a lot more of the main item and not lots of fake krab. Why don't they rename their rolls fake krab with a little bit of fish. Plus side the Serivce was good but once we got our food, the waitress never came back to see if it was ok. And the scallop roll arrived after we ate the other two rolls. They need to have the rolls show up at the same time and not well after the other rolls were consumed. Bill was $40 for three rolls that were mainly fake krab. Would I go again.....no...I will spend my money at other sushi places that do not have fake krab as the main sushi item. And the price was high for what you get. I do t mind paying a high price but not for fake krab sushi Give it a pass and go to someplace that serves real sushi. Serivce was fast to seat us, and give us the bill but not much in between.

Good food! Fresh fish. Thick fish slices so you feel you are getting a fair value. Reasonable price. Ex: $11 rainbow roll. Parking is free!!! With a parking lot in back. Nice jazz music. Nice clean heavy menus in folders. Friendly staff. Clean. Clean. Clean.

Yum! It's been a long while since I found a nice sushi place that puts the art and thoughtfulness back into the presentation and flavor of the food. Aji definitely does it We were in a rather desperate search due to a sudden sushi craving and the Yelp Mobile App led us here. We were greeted the second we walked in the door by both the server and the sushi chef behind the counter. Hot towels were brought to the table, which were really lovely. We had just been out in the rain and my hands were freezing. I know that's not the point of the towels, but it was really nice to have anyway. Service overall was wonderful. I ordered one of the special rolls, the Snow Shadow, along with some Masago. We also had the Rainbow Roll and the Dragon Roll. Presentation was spectacular (see photos), and it's clear the chef took a lot of pride in his work. I was impressed. The flavor was wonderful, too. The Snow Shadow was really freaking delicious. I can't wait to come back and try other dishes.

I had a great experience at Aji's. We immediately were greeted by the staff upon walking in. We were brought waters and soup right away and were told of the specials. I ordered the fire roll and avocado rolls and my friend ordered the rainbow roll. We were very impressed and will be going back for sure!

It took us forever to get seated, but once we sat down and eat we knew why there was such a long wait! Their Aji Speciality Roll was amazing along with the Baked Scallop Roll. I'd definitely recommend this place over any other Sushi place in the area!

Went with my parents as it was highly rated and I wanted to try a new sushi place. Disappointed in the food - miso soup was very salty, spicy tuna tasted old and the donkatsu (fried pork cutlets) was completely dried out. Tempura was good at least. Wouldn't recommend.

  • Summer S.

Decent place; the facilities are nice, the staff are friendly, they have good sushi and you are greeted with a warm towel and miso (bonus points for this place)! Anyways, I highly recommend coming during happy hour. Our bill for four came out to ~$110 without tip included yet, but I'd imagine if this weren't during happy hour - our bill would be have been closer to $200. For that reason alone, because we really hadn't ordered that much - I have to dock them one star. But other than the price point, this is a great place. A bit pricey, but then again you're paying for that nice warm towel.

This was a good place and the fire rolls are something to see. However, I would not say this was the freshest sushi I have ever eaten. Most of it was very good but some of the 'fresh fish' tasted few days old. Regardless, not all of the fish was like this and the majority tasted fresh. On a side note they have a good selection of high quality sake served correctly without the ice touching the drink.

I have been to Aji Sushi twice now and have enjoyed my experience both times. My party shared the tempura platter, the chicken katsu, the spider roll and a salmon bento box. Everything was delicious! The spider roll came out first and had a lovely presentation. The katsu and tempura were cooked perfectly. The service is attentive, the restaurant is clean and nicely decorated, and its in a great location. I will definitely be back the next time I'm on the plateau.

My absolute favorite sushi restaurant!! Order the Fireball it's fantastic! The people are wonderful, greet me with a smile every time I go in. They also know what I generally order.

Very overpriced, did I mention how overpriced this is yet??? Jesus, a California Roll for $12...why? Unless it was mailed from CA, I don't see it. One roll is good, exit 18, yes its $15 and maybe worth it. I am surprised this place is still open. We have been here only twice but each time I left missing my Bellevue Sushi places, this in walking distance that is why we tried again. I wish they would do some market research on what other successful places are doing and mimick it here.

We walked in 40 mins to close. We were greeted by everyone in the restaurant. The waitress came with waters, hot towels and miso soup. The waitress was very friendly, she recommended the specials and gave us plenty of time to make the right decision since we had never been there before. We ordered the Fire Ball Roll, the Paradise Roll, the Orange Delight Roll and the Rainbow roll. All were good. The Orange delight was amazing. A friend had recommended this place from a visit earlier that day, where they had a great experience too. Normally don't write reviews but this place was very very good. We will be back for sure. Very happy that they were so friendly even though it was close to closing. Other sushi restaurants don't offer the same type of service to customers late at night.

A strong 4.5, it's so much better than anything else on the eastside that I've found. Aji is a classy restaurant which serves fine cuts of fresh, flavorful fish. Almost all of the rolls I have tried were very good. The spicy tuna rolls that come with the sushi combo are well spiced but have a weird garlic kick to it. On my most recent visit I got the sashimi combo, which came with less variety than I was hoping for, but the cuts were passable and the flavor came out on all but one- I think it was tuna. I just don't know if I can love you anymore, tuna. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated, if not a little eclectic. The dining area is not cramped, there is a nice bar to sit at while you watch the chefs work, and everything feels vaguely upscale without venturing into pretentiousness. My sashimi combo came in a silly (but nice) bowl resting on a bunch of veggies, but I've never had anything but a good experience with the food and staff here. Bottom line- definitely one of the better spots on the eastside for sushi, decent prices, and a good location to boot.

Delicious food, friendly and fast service combine to make this one of my favorite places to eat! I enjoy the Tempura, especially the pieces that are sweet and delish (Japanese radish?) I forget to ask every time we stay and eat. The rolls I've had have all been excellent, and the tuna is melt in your mouth! My husband usually brings it home and it's always good! Love it!

Best sushi ever!! They have some fancy rolls containing jalapenos or cream cheese, and, I have liked everything I have tried so far but favorite is the Aji roll. I also really like their miso soup that they bring out a little after being seated. Their staff was also very friendly.

I admit it: I'm a big-city snob. So when we found ourselves searching for sushi in the outer 'burbs of Seattle, I wondered if 4-star Seattle suburban sushi would turn out to be 2-star sushi by downtown Vancouver standards. But this is the real deal: excellent sushi served in a pleasant (if Muzak-filled room) with attentive service. The fish itself was top-notch: as good or better than the very best sushi places. If we'd had sashimi or simple ngiri, I suspect this would be a 5-star review. On the recommendation of our fellow yelpers, however, we tried a couple of the house special rolls, as well as the Japanese ceviche. The sashimi in the ceviche was really lovely fish, but the sauce it was in was too vinegary. The "three times lady" roll likewise had an overly sweet sauce. The fire ball roll was pretty tasty, in the way that the spicy yummy things inevitably are, but I don't know that I would order it again. Edamame was perhaps a little undercooked and too salty. Both the agadashi tofu and the "egg rolls" ( more like fried spring rolls ) were the most delicious I think I've ever had, however, so it's not like the food falls apart once you get past plain raw fish. If this were my neighborhood I'd experiment with different dishes to find the home runs. If you want a safe -- and excellent! -- bet, stick to the less-adorned ngiri, rolls and sashimi. It can hold its own anywhere!

We came here for my husband's birthday and we were very pleased with every aspect of our dinner. The best part was how attentive they were to our 20 month old daughter! They brought out a baby spoon and made sure she had everything she needed to ensure that we enjoyed ourselves!

I have been eating sushi for over 10 years and my girlfriend was born and raised in Japan, and is very fussy with sushi. This is her new favorite spot as well as mine. She is used to top notch grade sushi and generous portions. This place hits that criteria spot on. Chef Daniel is an very friendly and thoughtful man and runs a great legitimate establishment. With awesome quality sushi. It's always my first choice when considering sushi in this part of the Washington.

Great sushi, great staff, great time. The special keep things interesting. I enjoyed the Exit 18 roll as well as the cowboy. Plus they let us customize our own rolls. Lighting is dim and the atmosphere is quiet but it was still comfortable to bring a 1 year old along. Will be coming back!

Sorry, not impressed. For sushi this pricey, it should be exceptional, and it wasn't. Quality of the fish is not outstanding in any way, and comes with too much rice. For this price, I'd save my money for Shiro in Seattle.

Firstly, most reviews on this place are a lie -this place reminded me of a dying restaurant trying to make sure it's patrons don't notice how bad their food is by drowning everything in sauces. Secondly, this place was difficult to find as it's in a little alcove that Siri didn't originally pick up on. Thirdly, my boyfriend and I love Sushi and enjoy it immensely. However, we will not be coming back due to the lack of service and quality of food. We were never given the small bowls inwhich to pour soy sauce, and it took the waiters - who were completely oblivious to anything besides outgoing orders - over 10 minutes for them to notice my glass of water was empty. Even then, when we flagged them over and pointed at the glass asking for a refill, they gave us the most confused look before it sank in 2-4 seconds later. The complimentary miso soup was nice, however the sushi chefs were incredibly slow and took them over 15 minutes to get us our food when we were the only other table besides a group of four in the entire restaurant. I'm not talking about anything elaborate, just a simple Tuna Bowl, Catepillar Roll, and Spicy Scallop Roll. That was -all- we ordered. The Catepillar Roll was fine and rather tasty, though when they mentioned smelt roe on it there was barely any, if at all. The Tuna Bowl was thinly cut tuna (about 4-6 GOOD slices) ontop of a bed of (cold) salad...which topped a bed of warm sushi rice. The salad added onto the bowl, along with fruit pieces and carrots - diced carrots - that seemed just thrown on to try and attempt at a half decent decoration. However, the spicy scallop roll was by far the worst piece of sushi I have ever consumed in my lifetime. It looks perfectly fine but don't let it fool you - while I usually enjoy a spicy tuna roll, there was just something -off- about it. Between the ginger, mayonnaise, and too-stale sesame seeds (somehow?) the scallops themselves tasted like absolutely nothing. The only time the staff was attentive was either when we were ordering, and paying. I thought the establishment was missing all of it's soy sauce dishes until we left, where I saw them neatly stacked next to where the waitresses had been idling all night! Overall not worth the price - it was 37$ for the three items we ordered - conveyor belt sushi really is better than this place. And cheaper.

This quality of this place has gone down and I'm reducing my rating from 5 stars to two. We were frequent customers and have and 3 instances where our double a rolls had rotten avocado and we got the stomach flu after our last visit. We got our food Togo and called the restaurant after we got home and they said the manager would call us back later but we never heard anything. It's too bad they had such a good thing going.

This review is strictly for their service. Their sushi was excellent. We came in on a weekend for an early lunch. There was a table of about 15 people, an elderly couple at the bar, and a family with a toddler. We came in with our toddler as well. The large table was already being serviced. Everyone else was waiting. A woman came in with her husband and her son, and greeted an employee warmly as if they knew each other. Then, I was appalled at what I saw. Which was the employees bringing out the woman's food immediately. Ahead of ALL OF US. This is a very small establishment, meaning, the space was very small. We all watched them bring out her food, jaws open. And what was even more shocking was the woman waved the food away because she had asked for no mayo. So they took the food back and remade it for her. WE STILL DID NOT HAVE OUR FOOD. The place was severely understaffed, but that still did not excuse this behavior in an establishment with clear visibility of such an action. We waited longer than half an hour for our food. We were showing my husband's sister some real PNW sushi so we waited. We were struggling not to just stand up and walk out. TWO FAMILIES WITH SMALL CHILDREN, waiting for our food while we witnessed all of our orders get bumped because someone knew management. We were absolutely DISGUSTED. WE WILL NEVER, EVER EAT HERE AGAIN. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Almost as good as conveyor belt sushi at 3x the price. Green tea? Hope you like bags. Started out with the worlds smallest seaweed salad. The salmon sushi was opaque and water logged. The salmon roe was the worst I have had. Everything tasted like it was a day past it's expiration. Much of the fish was opaque waterlogged and bad tasting. Avoid this place. Bad sushi and really expensive even for basic decent sushi.

Awesome sushi as well as bibimbob. Great for Japanese as well as Korean food. We've made this our favorite sushi place in Washington :). After finding this place every other sushi place seems disappointing.

Good sushi! But the portions are small which leads to bigger price point. The sashimi is 4 pcs per the menu. But the sushi is 2 pcs (not disclosed on menu). So hopefully you'll read this to learn prior to ordering or you look silly when 2 tiny pcs of fish show up. The house salad is iceberg lettus with carrots on top. The Hawaii roll is good. Bluetail tuna was delicious. The garlic tuna tataki was also good.

This place was great! We went for dinner on a Saturday, it was pretty crowded but we were able to get seats at the sushi bar. We got warm towels and miso soup right away, it was a little slow to get our drinks but otherwise service was good. They had the classic rolls but also some fun creative ones which were really good. The best part was at the dinner rush slowed down the sushi chef showed us how he was making some of the rolls, he was great and it was really fun to see how he put the rolls together.

Awful. I cannot believe the other reviews of this place. My daughter and I are avid sushi fans. Here's a rundown of our meal: Edamame: served hot and salty. We were excited to dig in. They were so overcooked. Chewy, starchy and disappointing. Tempura: just ok Cucumber roll: cucumber didn't taste fresh Maguro: simply awful, stringy and virtually inedible. The service which was polite, was the only redeeming feature. Definitely won't be back.

Good food, have not had the sushi yet but family says it's better than average but not excellent. When you walk in they welcome you in Japanese which I love, not a ton of places I have been to do this. I have yet to sit at the sushi bar but it looks like a cool view the sushi master does a very good job with his presentation and tightness of his rolls. All around very nice not heard anything bad said (In Japanese) besides someone was being obnoxious.

Update as of July 2015: Officially 5 stars. They've listened to customers and a growing need & have hired more and are more efficient than ever. They're much faster than before with the same quality rolls. Great work!

The sushi was pretty good, and I appreciated the selection. If not for that, this would be a three-star review. The service was fine, but nothing special. The atmosphere was relatively classy, but for my part, I prefer something more cozy and comfortable. It felt a bit cold and trendy. Aji didn't wow me, but I have no doubt that it's one of the better sushi places in the Issaquah area. All in all, I'd come here again, and I look forward to trying some of their special rolls.

Absolutely nothing short of amazing! We went out in search of sushi and Siri brought us here! We showed up about 45 minutes to close. Instead of the staff being impatient and trying to rush us out the door they were extremely attentive and catered to every little need. The sashimi was so fresh and the crazy night roll had so much flavor I didn't even use my soy sauce. My friend told our waiter that it was my birthday and they made me the cutest heart shaped California roll, put a candle in it and delivered it to our table. I have never had such an amazing time and will definitely be going back many times!

Ate lunch here before a movie on Sunday with two others. They brought us warm towels and miso before we even ordered. My companions ordered bento boxes and I ordered a salmon avocado roll and a tempura shrimp roll. The waiter brought us a small but complementary poke salad as an appetizer. The seaweed and fish were in a lovely sauce and sprinkled with sesame seeds. Delicious. My rolls were very good and looked pretty on the plates. The salmon in the salmon roll tasted and had the texture of really fresh fish that was not previously frozen. Impressive! The bento boxes were good also with california rolls, salad, gyoza, teriyaki chicken and tempura vegetables and shrimp. Everything was fresh and tasty. We were very satisfied and will definitely being going back again!

This is by far the best sushi place around! Service is awesome! Start off we a moist warm towel to cleanse your hands followed by complimentary miso soup. My personal favorite roll is the "hot dream". Would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a good meal!

A sushi place in Greater Seattle I hadn't tried yet? Sweet! I was excited to visit this Issaquah Highlands establishment. Went later on a Sunday evening. Place was almost empty. People were very pleasant. Miso soup and hot towel a nice traditional touch. Sushi prices are average and going a la cart is going to really push your bill up. However the combos are a good value for the amount of food you get. I can eat a lot of sushi and the Sushi Combo C filled me up. Cuts of fish were very generous (where they drape over the rice and touch the place - I think they call this Nagano style?) California Roll was as good as the best ones I've had (and I usually don't eat CA roll) - huge and fresh tasting, just the right texture and amount of mayo. Sushi rice was not over seasoned a big plus (maybe borderline under seasoned for some with more of a sweet tooth.) My son's chicken yakisoba was almost perfect although a little stingy on the meat -- not oily though like the Yakisoba he had in a fast food teriyaki place the day before (he loves yakisoba.) Finally, a place in Issaquah that isn't conveyor belt but also isn't overpriced (but it isn't a cheap by any means either.)

Went here for sushi and it was very good! Warm hand towel upon arriving was hardcore. Had the caterpillar, Excalibur, rainbow and California roll. All were very fresh and presentation was good. Fish was fresh and would recommend.

Very impressed with service and quality of food. Owner came by to check on food. Very friendly and sincere. This was a very good sign. Some restaurants I won't mention have arrogant, entitled, owners. Not here! Sushi was high quality. The sushi chef really has pride in the preparation and quality is best I have had in Issaquah and I have tried all of them. Front desk is polite. Food fairly priced and you get real crab meat not fake. All in all 5 stars.

My husband took me here for one of the best lunches I've had in ages! It's been so long since I've found a Japanese restaurant that offers oshibori when you sit down, I had forgotten how nice it is. Being able to freshen your hands with a hot towel before eating is just one of those nice little pleasures in life. My husband ordered the saba bento and I got the salmon bowl lunch. For the price I really wasn't expecting a lot. Maybe terriyaki salmon on top of a bowl of hot rice, not much else. First we were brought miso soup and then some edamame. Those nice little touches just make me so happy. Then lunch arrived! Husband loved his bento. It doesn't come with rice, but you get your main dish (his mackerel was small but cooked perfectly), California roll, veggie tempura, gyoza and a small salad. He was a happy camper. I received something that I am going to crave often and make him drive me all the way out to Issaquah Hilghands just for this dish. In a beautiful shell shaped bowl I received mixed spring greens tossed in a ginger sesame dressing over a generous helping of cold sushi rice. Also in the bowl was slices of tamago, dainty asparagus spears, chopped carrot and pickled daikon with shreds of fresh daikon. The best part was the dozen or so slices of the most buttery tender salmon sashimi I have ever tasted. There was also a glorious sriracha and mayo (or just sriracha) dipping sauce. The whole thing was so delightful I just didn't want it to end. But wait, there's more!! As our server brought the bill, he also brought us a small complimentary cheesecake to share. I don't know if they do this all of the time or the chef was just feeling generous that day but it really made our lunch that much more spectacular. My husband ADORES cheesecake and I think it had a little bit of mango drizzle on top (which is his favorite fruit). We were absolutely in heaven. For less than $30 we had a wonderful lunch. Dinner prices are slightly more expensive but I would still say well worth it. It was one of those meals that I just couldn't stop talking about the rest of the day. I even called my mom later and told her we're going there the next time she comes to visit. Another helpful tip: Their parking lot is kind of small. If all of the spaces are full, there's a nice big free lot on NE 10th ave that is very close by.

  • Taylor M.

Just ordered take out and the food overall, wasn't HORRIBLE. However, it was way overpriced - $30 for 2 lunch bento boxes. We did not even get any miso soup (says it's included), white rice, or even wasabi for our California Rolls. The teriyaki was bland and definitely wasn't up to any regular standards. WILL NOT GO BACK HERE AGAIN.

How can you go wrong? Prompt, courteous service, excellent rolls (had the Dragon and the Caterpillar) and every time I turned around there was some free tidbit thrown in ( a tuna tataki, miso soup, and a mini cheesecake for dessert - ok the mini cheesecake didn't knock my socks off, but I'm a cheesecake snob and it wasn't bad either!) I think I've found my local sushi place when I'm in town.

Great place for sushi. The service was not excellent, but we were able to flag our waiter down every time we needed something. A solid variety of delicious rolls, we really enjoyed the three times lady and aji rolls. The fish was really fresh. On a Saturday at 7pm we were seated right away (2 of us) but it quickly filled up and there was a wait when we left.

I like this place! I don't know why it took me so long to try it as I live like a block away from it. First thing they'll do is give you a warm lemony scented hand-towel because they know you're a filthy animal and you must purify yourself in the water of Lake Minnetonka. How generous! I am not a big fan of sushi (boo!) so I was glad to see they had Bento Boxes (yay!) available here! I ordered the number 1 Bento Box and I guess I didn't read the menu like an adult because it didn't come with rice??? Bento Box to me meant rice and box full of goodies. I was sitting at the bar and the chef overheard me and had the waitress quickly bring me a bowl of rice! Sorry, I didn't mean to sound whiny -- my imagery of Bento Box is too Americanized. I ordered my Bento Box with the Bulgogi and Spicy Teriyaki Chicken. What seemed odd to me was that there was no "regular" Teriyaki Chicken option. The Bulgogi was excellent but a bit dry and the Spicy Teriyaki Chicken was O.K. The Tempura was there, the salad was watery and the Gyoza was my favorite thing in the box. Apparently they were supposed to give us Miso Soup and Edamame when we first arrived? The chef also noticed that we didn't receive either of those because our waitress was new, so he gave us some spicy tuna salad and lemon cheesecake as compensation. Wow, what great service! Fair warning, this place is small and parking may be an issue on a Friday/Saturday night. Definitely try it if you're in the area though! I do recommend you try sitting at the bar and converse with the chef as he has complementary powers ;-)

I have had two excellent experiences here so far. And after having two horrible experiences at the "other" sushi place down the street, I think it's about time I give Aji a well-deserved 5-star rating. First off, the little "extras" here are wonderful. They bring you warm towels to wash your hands with when you are seated. And edamame and miso soup seem to be free appetizers that are also presented shortly after being seated. The first time we went, we received a complimentary appetizer from the chef for no reason in particular. And the second time we went, we received a complimentary dessert as well. Cheesecake! Yum! I can only speak for the vegetarian rolls, but I've tried most of them and they are wonderful. The veggie tempura roll is amazing and actually comes with a huge portion of tempura veggies on the side (as well as in the roll). And the yam roll was drizzled with this amazingly creamy mango sauce. So good. My girlfriend was very pleased with her non-vegetarian rolls as well. Although, she said she actually liked my veggie ones better (they are really *that* good). The wait staff is also very nice. The first time we went, I found out that the server was also a vegetarian and she recommended the best rolls for me. We also had a fun conversation about how and when and why we became vegetarians. The second time, our server was very attentive and seemed to be at our table whenever we needed him, even though the place was pretty packed as well. Bonus: it's within walking distance of my house. Score!

This place is awesome! From the decor to the service to the food. I had the salmon bowl and it was delicious! I've never had raw salmon before. It was super fresh. It didn't have that few day old fish taste to it. It was pretty enjoyable. If you can't handle spicy very well, you may just have to suck it up or order something else. The lowest on the spicy scale was still pretty spicy in my opinion. I also had the Miso soup and their complementary cheesecake. Both very very good!!! I highly recommend this place!! I had a wonderful experience!

People this is Aji Sushi - a sushi restaurant. Go there for the sushi, the unique flavors, creative rolls - not the soup or the bibimbop, or noodles - come on! My wife and I went here and completely enjoyed ourselves. We had the Monkey Brains appetizer - super unique an very enjoyable. We then had the Tuna Tataki which was excellent! IT'S A SUSHI RESTAURANT. We then had the Aji roll which was light and had a gentle but superb mix of flavors as well. All in all we had super quick and friendly service, the Chef even gave us an extra little roll to sample - even though we were stuffed we dug in :-) I am tired of comments like "Oh I have had sushi all over the world, blah blah blah." We all have. If that is the case, then rate the sushi, not the noodles or something else on the menu like that. I would take any friend, family member or my wife there again in a heart beat. They did a great job. Thank you.

First of all, I am really sorry to have given one star, so I'm gonna give you 3 stars for an average service. I was handed some wet towles, before I even used it, my server took it away. Second, I ordered tamago sushi, and it was freaking packaged tamago, not even gonna complain to the servers, it's a waste of time. Third, I ordered a beef bowl, in hell do I get furikake on the rice and some beef mixed with chilli sauce assuming sambal, screw the flavor. The other thing is the plate looks absolutely confusing and unappetizing, topped with some cash & carry bought mixed greens, and a bunch of shredded daikon and crap. Why???? Miso soup was free so not gonna complain, but yeah...it's no surprise, it's a packaged miso. I normally don't even wanna order a roll but my girlfriend insisted so it came...it was alright cus it was fried...couldn't go wrong. Seriously, the servers are a little bit over-confident about their food and service, both are on failing marks, but seems like they have no idea what's going on in the Seattle culinary scene. Clearly they are hidden in the Issaquah Highlands so they don't really need to give a crap. Honestly, I hate to rant about a place like this, they seem to be nice people, but I even wanted to just give no star.

This place was AWESOME! I am a new sushi consumer, and had previously only been to Blue C. My fiancé convinced me to stray from said establishment, and I'm so glad he did! The service was prompt and friendly, never over bearing. The music was a little over the top, hello smooth jazz! We ordered the tempura and gyizo to start. Both were tasty. Next, was my old stand by, Mr. California Roll. First of all, 6 giant pieces for around $5? Steal! Blue C gives me 4 for around $4. And they are small. REALLY SMALL. Aji sushi tasted very fresh and satisfying! I also ordered something called Salmon Mania. That plate was HUGE. It was a risk for me seeing as it had fresh, raw, salmon on top. It was very flavorful, a little spicy, but good! Overall, I'll never go back to overpaying at Blue C. Thanks Aji!

I've been here about 5 times. I liked it because it's new and clean and the food is pretty good. I like the house rolls which are pretty big (12-15 pieces) and are a meal itself. Between me and my pals, I've tried all of the ones I've wanted to try. And they give you a miso soup and hot towel to start. First time I went I had the salmon bowl, which was great. It came with a salad and was pretty filling. The second time I had it, they gave me salmon scraps. Salmon scraps! I should have complained about it but I was with a friend. I won't be going there again soon. If you are the owner, don't give your customer salmon scraps when they order the salmon bowl. It sucks and you lose business.

If you are a Eastsider & looking for a fresh sushi, enjoy courteous service & casual dinning; you will have fun @ Aji..a decent menu options: California/ Tuna rolls, teriyaki bowls, yakisoba/udon, and sashimi platters are nice. Even the vegetarian rolls are amazing..

Giant rolls! The "I need a bottle of water" roll offers a 1-5 spiciness scale--of course, I chose a 5. It had a nice heath. Nowhere near hot for me, but pleasant nonetheless. I also ordered the poke salad and the korean chili sauce provided a nice complement to the ahi and seaweed. Finally, we tried a few of their hand rolls. Good stuff! Can't complain. It was nice finding a sushi restaurant in Issaquah, especially one that did not have a crazy long wait.

Dinner Sunday night was delightful. The service was terrific. We sat at the sushi bar and were well served and quickly received each of our orders. The portions for the price I felt were very reasonable. Not sure what the fuss is about portions elsewhere on this thread. The rolls were well crafted. The Blue Fin tuna sushi was amazing 5 stars for quality and portion. The Hamachi sashimi was great and we ordered it twice. A nice sushi spot for Issaquah/Sammamish for sure.

My husband and I stopped in today for lunch. It was our first visit at Aji Sushi. The atmosphere was very warm and inviting with a happy feel. I liked the vibe of the lunch crowd. The service was impeccable. The waitresses were so polite and attentive. I ordered the sashimi bowl and it was phenomenal! The portion is very generous and the quality was great. Seriously, we could have split this one dish between both of us, and it was only $15! I cannot emphasize enough, excellent quality :) My husband wanted something warm so he opted for simple chicken breast teriyaki. He said it was very nice. He said the sauce was really good/in correct proportion and he could tell the chicken had not been previously frozen. Overall, definite 5 stars. This is my new lunch destination!

Sushi is wonderful. I have my favorites but Danny will always steer me to something great too. Even my wife, who will not touch sushi, finds many items on the menu she loves. Lunch is great but the lighting at dinner gives the restaurant a special feel. I try to go at least once a week.

The service was great. The warm towels are nice and smell really good. We had three long rolls and they were all delicious and nicely presented. The rice was still warm and the fish just melted in your mouth. I was pleasantly surprised by this place, as I drive by it everyday. I will be back!

Very fresh sushi and very good variety. Excellent menu with many different kinds of rolls! Some are standard e.g. spider and california. Some are creative and tasted really good and surprising. The sushi portion is huge! I love this place. Will keep on coming back and ordering take-aways! I consider this place the only go-to sushi place in Issaquah now!

My husband likes sushi but I'm not a fan, but Aji is a perfect spot for us because they offer many other entree options in addition to an extensive sushi menu. I love the tempura platter - it comes with potstickers, eggrolls, side salad, and tempura fried vegetables and shrimp. A great deal at $13. Service does tend to be a little slow but is always friendly. It is a quiet place to go when you want to wind down and spend some time enjoying your dining experience.

Been a few times now. I love their "lunch box" for $10 or so. Great way to have a little bit of an experience and great food for not much more than you would pay for a fast food type restaurant. Nice environment compared to the old Rice & Roll, service is always prompt and good, I haven't had the sushi yet but it looks terrific! Aji continues to be one of my regular restaurants that I go to a few times each month.

Great Sushi Love the Highlands area - great location Service is average at best. We go in there probably 2 or 3 times a month. We just know that the service will be slow, our drinks will be low but the sushi will be great. I would like to label a 3.5, but the sushi swings up to a 4 - it is better than a 3 star I recommend, just don't go in a hurry

Aji serves the best sushi I've ever had! It's relatively inexpensive and very very fresh. It's also quite large. I eat about 1 to 1.5 rolls each time. I cannot recommend anything better. It's a very clean restaurant with great service. They also have a great range of sushi. If you want someone to fall in love with sushi take them here.

Had three different sushi rolls: dynamite, paradise and the volcano which were all good and way to much for us to finish! Kids meal is a little expensive for our 3 year old was fine just too big ;) Second time tried their most expensive role the highland roll - liked the roll but the sashimi salad wasn't our favorite- also would like more than a bento box for kid options

I want a restaurant to love in Issaquah, but unfortunately, places like this keep opening up. This is an uninspired Korean/Chinese place that happens to serve something which could be confused for sushi, but that's about as far as I'll go in terms of compliments. My wife ordered the bibimbap, and it was extremely bland. The majority of its vegetable matter consisted of chopped iceberg lettuce. If you know anything about this dish, nothing more needs to be said here, so let's move on... I've had some of the best sushi in the world, as well as some of the worst, and on a 10-point scale, this is hovering somewhere around 1.8. The rice was mediocre, and the end result fell slightly short of grocery store sushi. With such an abundance of amazing fish in this region, one would think it rather straight-forward to get ahold of something other than the gelatinous gas-treated neon-pink tuna...but that's what I got. They also use imitation crab and instant Miso soup. On top of this, the technique used to construct the rolls and nigiri would probably lead to a failing grade in the most generic of cooking classes. Think office cafeteria sushi. Having said all of that, I really wouldn't mind giving this place three stars for effort and convenience. HOWEVER... The rolls and individual items are more expensive than they are at Shiro's. Shiro's is probably the best sushi restaurant on the West Coast, run by former colleagues of Jiro Ono, the only sushi restaurant in the world to win three Michelin stars. I don't actually like Michelin hype much, but this gives you an idea of just how over-priced Aji is. One roll on the menu was $26. $40 was wasted. Please don't make the same mistake. Avoid at all costs.

I paid $15 for the vegas roll. It was really good, but not worth the price. The teryaki bowl that my boyfriend ordered was $14 and it tasted burnt and flavorless and a can of coke was $2.00.The staff was very friendly and everything was clean. The real problem is the pricing.

Aji Sushi is our favorite sushi place here on the eastside. We live in Bellevue and drive to the Highlands when we want some really good sushi rolls! We always get the Paradise Roll which is absolutely amazing. You get tons of different kinds of fish in that roll and it's topped with a bunch of crab. Even though I'm not an imitation crab fan, it's still delicious on this roll! I don't even like fried rolls but I LOVE this roll! It's definitely my favorite. We also get a few other rolls usually but this one by far is the best. It's huge! We love the quality and the value of this place. I used to work just up the hill from Aji and once I came here just for lunch and I got the Tofu Hot Pot lunch special. It was AMAZING. The soup was the perfect amount of spicy and just the most savory soup I have had! There was seafood in there and it also came with kimchee and rice. I will really miss this place when we move. We are going here tonight for our last Aji fix before moving back to Hawaii! We've never really had the nigiri here as we are total roll fiends, so I can't say anything for the nigiri, but the rolls do NOT disappoint! We also love the service. The servers are so courteous and helpful and are always trying to please - and they do a wonderful job! The owner is also really great. He always tries to engage his customers in conversation when he can and is such a nice guy! Their menu is also varied if someone is coming along who may not eat sushi. But of course, we go for the SUSHI since it is a sushi place after all! I also had udon once and it was great! When I'm with someone though I of course always get the rolls :) We will miss Aji! Thank you, Aji for some great sushi!!!!! We WILL be back when we visit WA in the future.

Be aware, menu recently was changed. Service was partially good. I'm a yelper and usually make an order based on Yelp photos. A roll captured a month ago doesn't exist any more. Moreover, sushi chief said they can't do it. Seriously? What's the problem? You have raw fish and cucumber and you know the price of it, why you can't make it for a customer? No more cheesecake as well. We paid over a hundred for dinner of 2 adults and one kid without deserts.

Decided to try this place out after noticing that it had replaced the previous sushi restaurant a while back. The less-than-decent reviews have been keeping me away, but I thought I should give it a chance. Came here Saturday night with the gf an hour before closing time ... we were the only ones there. First impression of the interior was quite nice. It looked clean and modern; the gf really liked the sparkly chandelier things. The food was good. They started us off with a small bowl of miso soup (they served it as soon as we sat down). I ordered the dinner combination with Teriyaki Chicken. It came with 3 potstickers, and 2 pieces of egg rolls, a small scoop of rice, and salad. The chicken was good; it was lightly drizzled in sauce (I actually wanted more sauce), and was burnt in some areas (not sure if that's normal). The little potstickers seem standard, but the dipping sauce was really good. "Two piece" egg roll was just an egg roll cut in half (boo, wanted 2 rolls!), but it was good though. The gf ordered a bowl of udon with California rolls. The soup was nice and salty, noodles were chewy ... it was flavorful, all in all. We only had a couple of pieces of the rolls ... we were too full by the end. It was presented well on the plate. I'm not a connoisseur of Japanese food; I can't really complain about the food, it was all good to me. I'd give it a 3.5-4 stars, but knocking it down for the price. Bonus, their website is topnotch.

Thank you Aji Sushi for a great meal. The food was fresh, the portions were substantial, the presentation was great and the prices were reasonable. All 5 of us left stuffed and happy.I wish we had ordered more Sashimi, but there were so many fun rolls to try that we couldn't resist. We will definitely be back again soon. p.s. have been back twice and the food is great each time.

Fantastic food. High end food for normal prices. Very interesting and original plating. "One star" is rather spicy, so be aware if you don't like spice. Expect $11 -$14 for an entree. Service is great; timely and friendly. Finished off our lunch and they brought us a small New York cheesecake to share.

Aji sushi is amazing. I can't have rice and they have modified a roll without rice for me. We go at least once a week and the sushi chefs are friend and courteous. The service is always good and prices a very reasonable. The restaurant is very clean and cozy.

I have been twice since this place opened. The wait staff is very polite and attentive. The food comes quickly, and has been fresh each time I have been. Sushi is cut precisely and very tasty. Monkey Brain appetizer was a favorite. I have tried beef bulgogi, chicken yakisoba, a yellowfin tuna/seaweed dish, Crunchy Seattle roll, California roll and Chicken Katsu here. Every dish was delicious and hot plates were very hot. This has quickly turned into my favorite Sushi place on the east side.

Imagine going to a place like cheesecake factory and you want to get a soup. So you ask the waiter about the soup he goes back and asks the cook. He comes back states its a beef stew. Once you get the soup you realize instantly its a very a watery mess almost like a chunky soup. The first bite confirms what your instinct tells you. It is chunky soup. On this basis alone would you go to that establishment again? NO WAY! Well, that's how I feel about Aji Sushi. I went there because my girlfriend is sick and wants something spicy. As soon as we arrive see that they have "spicy ramyun". I ask the waiter in their native tongue which is Korean(they are not japanese) if this was a Korean style ramyun or Japanese style ramyun. He goes back and ask the cook. He comes back kind of confused stating its korean style ramyun. So I'm like oh great its chjambung. So we order it and he comes back with NONG SHIM SHIN RAMEN(it's .80cents noodles in the korean market). It also cost 12.00. Double whammy I ordered a spider roll. It literally tasted like I was eating KIMBOP(korean style roll with filler meat)probably less then 1 OZ. total crab meat used including the batter! this cost 15.00. I vented with two different waiters and no one told management. I advised them to take the ramyun off their menu or they will lose business immediately because they lost mine. I even asked one of the waiters if he would buy this knowing its something I can make at home in 5 minutes and he gave me this look like ya you're right. It's very disrespectful to serve such a dish in a asian restaurant. If you like feeling robbed of your money this is the place for you.

I love sushi and was excited to hear that a new sushi place opened up in Issaquah Highlands. My husband and I decided to try Aji and went in with high expectations. We ordered dinner boxes B and C (you get s little bit of everything with these options). While we were waiting for our dinners, they brought out complimentary miso soups and a chef salad, made of yellow fin tuna and a seaweed salad....it was delicious! When our dinner boxes arrived, there was definitely plenty of food. The tempura shrimp was cooked perfectly, the teriyaki chicken had the right balance of sauce, and the shashimi melted in your mouth. I'm so happy we found this place! I would reccomend it to anyone in the mood for high quality sushi and teriyaki. The pricing was reasonable based on the amount of food we received and the staff wss really nice and welcoming. Definitely going again!

This sushi restaurant is the best place to get sushi with twenty miles. The fish is fresh, the service is kind, the place is comfortable. I really want us all to support it because they know what they are doing and it would be a great loss if the word didn't get out that this place is totally worth it. In short, you can tell they believe in quality, and they have delivered it consistently to me every time I have come into their establishment.

We loved it here. Great service. Make sure you try the Three Times A Lady roll. The Fireball roll is very very spicy. Everything is fresh. Highly recommend.

My wife and I were on our way to Sip for dinner and stumbled upon Aji during their soft opening last week. Personally, I am thrilled that they are here. Having owned a restaurant, I know how chaotic the first week can be. Despite this, service was friendly and certainly acceptable. The atmosphere is perhaps a bit sterile but inviting. Hopefully they reconsider the music, though ... I could stand only so much Justin Timberlake. The menu was a decent size. We ordered some hot appetizers and some fun looking rolls and were not disappointed. Most importantly, the fish was fresh and the food was prepared well. Presentations were a bit odd but done so on purpose not through a lack of skill. Prices were on the high end but not outrageous. I will happily pay a bit more for quality. If you want crappy cheap sushi, there are plenty of other spots in Issaquah who would be happy to take your money. In all, not a five. You have to earn that. But we were impressed by what we saw during their soft opening. We will certainly be back. Oh, and if you ever start to deliver, we'll have you on speed dial.

This used to be a Rice and Roll, which was terrible! I'm glad Aji moved in. My children and I had an after school lunch there today. My daughter and I split the Vegetable Roll and my son had white rice and Fried Banana. For those of you that like Kimchi-they make their own and it's GREAT! The food was very good. The service was excellent. Our waiter was attentive and friendly. It was clean too, which was a change from the previous Rice and Roll. I will definitely bring my husband back for dinner some time. All in all a great place.

Wow best sushi and teriyaki I've had in a long long time their food not only taste delicious but the portions are huge. Well worth the price. Everything was fresh and to top it off we were served complimentary appetizers and dessert. My son said this was the best dinner and he's very picky.

I found this place after a Dr. appointment across the street at Swedish Hospital. Immediately when I was seated at the sushi bar I was handed a warm towel for my hands with a cup of miso soup. Being that I was flying solo this day, the chef Daniel was very friendly and engaging while I waited for my food to be prepared in front of me. I enjoyed our conversation. While I waited for my food, he gave me a complementary sample of his spicy tuna salad which was incredible. My salmon salad arrived and I was very impressed. The salmon was very fresh and lacked the "fishy" taste that I have tasted in the past with poorly handled fish. The vegetables were crisp including a mix of arugula, various lettuce, asparagus and sesame and vinegar seasoned riced underneath. It was so good that it almost didn't need the delicious choices of dressings that accompanied the salad. In addition to the salad, I ordered a side of gyoza that was very good as well. When my bill came, my total was very reasonable for all that had consumed. In addition to the bill, I was served a delicious piece of cheese cake that he informed a family member had made! Talk about separating yourself from the rest. All I can say is that this sushi bar is a hidden gem embedded into the side of the plateau. Daniel had a vision when he took over ownership in October and he is striving to provide affordable, quality sushi. From here on out I will visit him on my travels to Issaquah. Thank you for treating me like a queen for a day and serving amazing food!

I had spicy chicken teriyaki for my first visit today. Had to add quite a bit of chili sauce to get the heat, but it was fine. A little different in that it had onion in it. Others at the table had the salmon bowl and chicken katsu and everyone was satisfied with their meals. Liked the environment, and they have mighty fancy menus. I didn't try the water but had ice tea. I also like that they bring out some soup after you sit down. I did find the portions to be rather small especially for the price. My lunch order was $9. My party also was a little turned off by the music. It wasn't that it was too loud, but you could hear it clearly and I think we heard Michael Jackson 3 times in the hour that we were there. With the lunch crowd they will get in Issaquah Highlands they should alter the music choices a bit. It is close to work so I will definitely be back to try more.

I went to eat dinner on a Friday night to try out the new restaurant. I would definitely not recommend it considering the quality of the food and the price. When I arrived with my boyfriend at about 6 pm, the restaurant was very busy. I wanted something spicy and ordered the Spicy Ramyun (noodles with egg and veggies in a spicy broth). We asked the waiter if the ramen was Korean or Japanese style (Aji is a Japanese restaurant but it owned by Koreans) but the waiter was unsure. After waiting for 45 minutes to get our food, (waiter never came back to check on us during this time) I was served a bowl of noodles which I instantly recognized. I am sad to say that it was the cheap dry Korean ramen that you can pick up from your local grocery store. Sad, because I had the same pack of ramen at home and I could have eaten earlier and saved my money. I guess the owners figured that people in Issaquah don't know what Korean and Japanese food is supposed to taste like and pass off cheap ramen as restaurant quality food. Bad way to do business. My boyfriend ordered sushi, which was ok, but over priced for what was on the plate and is the only reason I am giving this restaurant two stars. Overall, I don't recommend this place unless they reduce the price and tell you up front what you are ordering is boxed ramen.

This place is fabulous! Danny is the new owner and has been a sushi chef for 16 years. The sushi rolls are creative and burst with flavor. The Tropical Roll should be their signature roll because it's colorful and absolutely delicious! They also serve a really good spicy chicken bowl with their secret spicy mayo recipe.

Ate here while on business in Issaquah. Excellent food and great value. Had the bento box and everything was fresh and delicious. Server even brought us a little sashimi to start with, and a little dessert compliments of the chef. I would definitely eat here again.

Had dinner there tonight on a whim. We ordered the spider roll, pink lady and the yellow tale, mackerel and eel nigiri. We thought the food was great. Very fresh and huge portions. Service was nice, not the best in the world, but very friendly. Would totally go back.

We've been back 2 more times now and were very pleased both times. I stuck with the sushi/sashimi, which was excellent as always. My boys tried the udon and loved it! The service has been top notch every time we have been. All around excellent place to eat!

First the restaurant is in a great location and the interior is clean, comfortable and decorated well for this type of restaurant. Seconds the waiting staff was great. But that's about it. The food was a Korean/Japanese mix with the food I ordered being overpriced and not very good. First I had some miso soup that was not good. Second I had tempura shrimp which wasn't even tempura (!? fried breaded shrimp is not Tempura shrimp!! It's fried breaded shrimp.). The sashimi was also nothing to talk about, not good not bad, but I felt it wasn't worth the price. Seriously improve your food, I'm dying to eat at a good Japanese restaurant in Issaquah.

I think this place is great! The food is good and yes, the rolls can get pricy but they are huge! 8-12 pieces per roll! They also treat kids great - free dessert and lollipops for us today! Service is great too. Warm towels and miso soup when you first sit down is a plus. Glad to have this restaurant in the area!
