I came here for the Seattle restaurant week and the food wasn't too memorable. I had the meat and cheese plate as well as the scallop risotto and ended it with the affogato with the vanilla ice cream. The meat plate had thin slices of prosciutto, and salami with picked veggies. Loved all the meat cuts. The scallop risotto had 4 scallops that were executed well since they were juicy and not rubbery, however the risotto was quite bland tasting even though it was creamy. The affogato was good though. I loved the coffee they used and the vanilla ice cream hit the spot. However, I couldn't drink much of it since I have a low caffeine tolerance and didn't want to be up too late.

We have been meaning to try Salt and Iron out since they opened. So we were not disappointed when we dropped in tonight for an early dinner. We had our toddler in tow and we were happy to get right in and have no hesitation to get some drinks and food going right away. While we don't seek out "family restaurants" we always appreciate the touches that make a family feel welcome and tended to. I had the risotto with scallops and my husband had the filet mignon both of which were tasty and well presented. We would definitely come back again. In fact, I wish we had known they were open for brunch, because I'm pretty certain this would have been a way better choice than another nearby weekend choice we made earlier this month!

5++ stars for service 5 stars for food quality 5 stars for happy hour value We would possibly have less value stars for the dinner menu which was much more expensive. The service was really really great. The door was held for us on the way in then we mentioned we wanted happy hour but we thought we couldn't get it out. They let us get happy hour outside then quickly moved and cleaned tables for us out side. We loved Vegas our server who was really nice and chatty. He had great food suggestions and just was really fun and accommodating. He also had other restaurant and beer suggestions around the area. We had the fries, the steak salad, and the grilled corn. Fries- crispy but not greasy. pretty good. The aioli sauce was great. Steak salad - great value, really yummy, steak was god and the salad had crispy bacon in it. Corn on the cob - it was really great and had Cajun seasoning and the aioli on it. I would recommend any of these.

Had a late lunch last week at Salt and Iron. Loved it. We essentially had bar food, i.e. sliders and fries, with a lovely glass and a half of rose. We sat outside at one of the sidewalk tables. Since we were a bit late for lunch, we were served by the bartender who had a generous hand when pouring the wine. He also nicely split a third glass between the two of us and it was also a generous pour. Lovely location, good food. Will definitely recommend to anyone living or visiting in the Seattle area.

My girlfriend and I had dinner here on Sunday night, unable to resist the siren song of a restaurant in any city north of Seattle receiving such scintillating reviews on Yelp. For the most part, we were super impressed and I think we will be back for sure. We were welcomed by a hostess who was probably young enough to be my great-great-great-great-great granddaughter. Most tables were occupied...we could have gotten away with not making a reservation but it was a Sunday, and I think other nights get booked pretty solid. The restaurant is divided into several rooms, each with different decor and light levels. We were pretty close to the entrance, in the most brightly lit area...I might go for one of the other areas next time, but it was fine. Our server welcomed us pleasantly and shortly thereafter got our drink orders and gave us a small complimentary appetizer of housemade potato chips with an aioli dip...the chips came in a small cast-iron pan, which was a nice touch...they were quite good, and that's coming from someone who doesn't like potato chips. The menu had lots of choices and we deliberated for a while my girlfriend enjoyed a glass of tempranillo and I had an outstanding bourbon old fashioned. She ended up ordering scallops with risotto and I got manila clams with linguini, and we also split two small plates of asparagus and roasted corn. All dishes were excellent for the most part: The asparagus was grilled just right and served with herbs and a sunny side up egg. Fantastic, but it did look like a big green hand with spindly fingers, so they could work on the presentation. The corn was terrific too--roasted just right with a spicy cream sauce that was delectable. It was on the cob, and they really should have split it into two because we were obviously going to share it and it was only by the grace of God above that I didn't demolish anything while I attempted to split a piping hot ear of corn covered with sauce into two pieces with my stupid hands and a giant, ineffective steak knife. But I quickly forgot that experience and dove into my half of the corn...yummmmmmmm. My clams were great, and what truly blew me away about the dish was the linguini--I didn't ask if they make it themselves or if they get it from a small artisan pasta company, but they were very easily the best linguini noodles I've ever had, anywhere, ever. No exaggeration. Great flavor, texture, cooked a perfect al dente and with a really lovely appearance--the noodles almost had a slight waviness to them. I'm still thinking about them, obviously. I tried a bite of my girlfriend's dish, and I thought both scallop and risotto were too salty, but she seemed to enjoy it, so who am I to question. Plus by that time I was on bourbon old fashioned #2 so maybe my senses were messed up. A couple of knocks: Our server, who was nice and earnest, tried on two separate occasions to take plates from the table that were still being enjoyed; both times she had a hand on the plate and was lifting it off the table before she said "can I get this out of your way?" or whatever. Bad form. The music! It was weird! The interior of much of the restaurant almost has the feel of a nice house with, I dunno, a Mediterranean touch to it, but they were playing very odd music to go with that aesthetic, and it was a touch too loud. Examples: they played "Another One Bites the Dust," which is a strange song to have on when you're eating a dinner for two that's going to cost over $100. Also, a smattering of Creedence Clearwater Revival songs, and they played that ukulele version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" two times. Yes, twice. In the span of about 20 minutes. Two times. I don't know what would be more appropriate...maybe some big band music a la Louie Prima, or anything with a bit of date-night energy but that can nonetheless be in the background..."Another One Bites the Dust" is not a background song and it has no date-night energy unless you're weird in the weird sort of way. Long review, sorry. Here's the abridged Tarzan version: ME LIKE LINGUINI. ME LIKE SIDE DISHES. ME NO LIKE MUSIC. ME LIKE EAT HERE, ME COME BACK SOMEDAY.

We heard great things about Salt and Iron through my husband's colleagues, so we gave it a try on a Saturday night for his birthday. The Food: Salt and Iron's menu features "small plates" of various items, including oysters, salads, soup, whipped potatoes, asparagus, carpaccio, and steak tartare, priced $4 (bread) to $23 (foie gras). The larger plates were listed on the menu under the "salt" (seafood) heading, and under the "iron" (beef, lamb, pork, chicken) heading. These plates were much more expensive, from $17 for the burger to $59 for the ribeye. Stephen J. ordered the grilled corn small plate for $5 and the Flat Iron and Frites for $21. I ordered the Seared Scallops with risotto and asparagus for $25. All items were tasty. Serving sizes weren't large but weren't meager, either. I would have liked to have seen an extra scallop or even a little extra asparagus in lieu of some risotto, but I did enjoy the food. Stephen felt the steak was a little undercooked for his "medium rare" order, though he thought it tasted fine. The Service: If I'm paying higher prices for the food, I'm going to have matching expectations for the service. While everyone who came to our table was pleasant, we felt they didn't have the industry experience to match what Salt and Iron seems to present with its pricier menu items. The most obvious example was a server's lack of knowledge about whether certain plates contained gluten. When asked about a particular dish, the server said she didn't "think" it had gluten in it, and didn't offer to follow up. After suggesting I just order asparagus for dinner, Stephen J. took control, asking her to check with the chef on the original request, and she did so. The Ambiance: We felt it was noisy. Maybe it was the room we were dining in, and that other tables/areas were quieter. The lighting above our table seemed a little bright for a Saturday night dinner. We couldn't figure out if it was the fixture's location or the fixture itself.

I crave the sliders and grilled asparagus all the time. Numb! I also reccomend the corn on the cob. My daughter loves it.

Haven't been to many places in Edmonds, but so far I'm impressed! Ordered the steak tar tar, clams and mussels, clams and mussels, raw oysters and a few beers. My favorite were the clams and mussels and the steak tar tar. Oh so delicious! The others were tasty as well, but the 2 really stood out. The atmosphere was great and the people were really really nice, but service was a little slow. Not sure if it was because they were understaffed as,it was Labor Day. Wasn't a huge deal overall as I'd still go back for sure!

I brought my brother and sister in law here. First time trying this place in spite of living in Edmonds. We ordered oysters to start which were fresh and delicious and this combo appetizer that had various items like chicken liver pate... I had the pork chop that was cooked to perfection, my bro ordered the chicken wings that were good but could've actually served a couple more with the entree. My SIL had salmon and with her dietary restriction they were very accommodating which is always appreciated. The cocktails were the bomb also.

This place is situated perfectly in downtown Edmonds. Outside patio even has views of the water and is stanchioned off so the pedestrians don't get in your way. The inside bar is lively! There is a TV for the sports fans- perfect for basketball playoff season as it is now. The dining area is perfectly tucked away for tranquility if you prefer that. The staff has outstanding customer service! I asked for differences between wines and the server immediately asked if I would like to sample each. Of course! The order: - complimentary homemade chips and aoli. -24 ounce steak- it's huge but so worth the splurge for 2 people!! Tender with an amazing green sauce to pair. -castraveltrano (sp?) olives with anchovies and pickled veggies. My favs. -cauliflower is a must try appetizer! -scallops and risotto: a whole lot of amazing risotto and delicious scallops -oysters are a must. First time in a LONG time they were perfectly shucked without any sand grit or shell with a shaved ice oyster sauce. REFRESHING! The name of the game is called Salt & Iron, Oysters and Steak, and it definitely backs itself up the name. I would definitely make reservations as it's been booked even on weekdays and holidays! A must in Edmonds! Tip: They make their own cocktail concoctions in house and age them in house! Try one. There's also happy hour but I haven't made it yet.

One of the best burgers I've ever had, and rosemary fries seal the deal. Food porn is a thing here. Nuff' said

The people were nice, service was mediocre, the food was overpriced, the bread was super oily, our potatoes were loaded with cheese, my chowder tasted like it was canned, but if you are attracted to those types of restaurant attributes.....this place is for you. In my opinion, overpriced and many better choices in Edmonds, but I can't knock them for trying.

This place is just fantastic - we were excited to try it as we love Bar Dojo and the owners! I will 100% be back as there were a ton of items that caught my eye on the menu. We sat at the bar for a glass of wine before dinner - great selection and a delicious, crisp rose. We were offered homemade chips and dip, which were thin, crispy, and the dip had a bit of spice. For dinner, there were three of us and we started with the yellowtail carpaccio - fish was fresh and also came with a small salad as well. We had the spring green salad, too (came with a fresh, light dressing and avocado). Two of us ordered the Lamb which came with a rosemary bread pudding - lamb cooked to PERFECTION and the bread pudding was so unique and tasty! The third diner had the salmon which was also cooked perfectly. We shared the garlic mashed potatoes as a table. We had the Strawberry Shortcake for dessert - which was almost too pretty to eat! It tasted almost like fake flavoring, a really fresh and strong call from the strawberry and the creamy cake on top was to die for. We devoured it in about four bites. Well done Salt + Iron!

I discovered this place by an accident while me and my friend were just walking on the street and looking at places to stop by at and enjoy food. Salt & Iron have an incredible setup right from the street, right when you set your eyes on the sign, you feel like in a Hollywood movie and HAVE to have the food. We arrived during brunch time which was perfect for a Sunday. I ordered Eggs Benedict which had poached eggs, English muffin, hollandaise, potatoes, choice of bacon or avocado but I ended up getting both. Their hollandaise sauce was very good, one of the best ones I've ever tried. My friend got Double Stack Waffles. Trust me when I say this - next time I'm there, I'm getting Waffles instead!!! Huge portion of crispy Belgian waffles, berry compote, fresh strawberries, maple syrup, butter, and vanilla gelato on top. #yummyinmytummy Overall, the place was impressive, first date kind of material. One little issue. There is only one bathroom at the back of the restaurant. I wanted to go after but someone was in there (and it wasn't the #1) so after waiting for 10 minutes, I just left. Nothing to do with food but just wanted to make a note :)

We stopped in for a light dinner to the new place in the 'hood. We had the smelt and chips, brussel sprouts, and a soup. The smelt were good; decent price for a large portion. However the portion was too large. I ate about a 3rd of the smelt. They also could have been fried a bit longer as they were a bit limp. The chips, housemade potato chips, were great and it came with a light salad. The sprouts were delicious as was the soup. It is a nice space with friendly people. I look forward to seeing it how this place developed.

Nope. We didn't hate it, but certainly didn't enjoy it enough to order an entree. The food was fancy but boring and flavorless. We order the chopped green olives with white anchovy on bread. The bread came un toasted and the dish lacked any spark. We also had the scalloped potatoes with fennel. Super boring.the cheddar overwhelmed the fennel entirely and the potatoes were a wee bit under cooked. I had to ask myself why I was eating it. It was that boring. We finished the cocktails and split.

The food was decent, and the waitress very friendly. But the food - I had a Sunday brunch - was very over-priced and the helpings small. With hard white walls and ceiling and hard floors, even the few customers seated at the opposite side of the restaurant created enough noise (every word audible) to make me never want to come back. I shudder to think of the noise level when the place is full! I have not tried dinner, and probably won't, having looked a the prices. For a better breakfast go to Chantrelle; for a bigger, still decent breakfast, go to Claire's.

Ate dinner at Salt and Iron again last night. The food and cocktails were wonderful! I had the scallops and risotto which were tasty and cooked to perfection. My two friends shared the seafood pot - which i would highly recommend. The flavors were to die for and it had all my favorite kinds of seafood in it. Definitely order it to share as it was a huge portion -- too much for just 2 people. We sat in the new area and the new noise-reducing panels really help with the noise! I'd highly recommend - both brunch and dinner are delicious!

Came yesterday for lunch on a hooky-day. Everything was quite tasty! I had a round of oysters (pacific, kumomoto, shigoku, virginica) and the beef sliders with a house side salad. The oysters were served with a deliciously light and refreshing mignonette that was slightly reddish (didn't catch the flavor). The mignonette ice was shaved so small that it melted into the oysters when placed on top. The sliders were oh so yum-- crispy onions and a slightly spicy aioli inside. Salad was dressed perfectly to my taste, a rare feat in my experience. I also snagged a few of hubby's herbed fries (which he got as the side to his Sunny BLTE sandwich) and they were my favorite type of fries-- shoestring, which were crisped and salted perfectly! Hubby said his BLTE (bacon, lettuce, tomato, sunny-side egg, stoneground mustard aioli) though messy, was very delicious. This would be an excellent place to come for HH!

Damn, Edmonds! I had no idea your food scene was this good! This place is fantastic. It reminds me of the walrus and the carpenter quite a bit. We tried a number of different cocktails and menu items and most were very very good. They have a decent oyster selection, including kumamotos. which are my favorite. Oysters seem like they are a quintessential part of the experience here, so make sure you order at least a couple per person to get the full experience. The vinegar ice is an interesting garnish and it's very easy to overdo it, so be careful. The steak tartare was the only thing that didn't impress me. It's a pretty healthy portion of raw meat for $14, but I'm pretty sure that that's because it's just hamburger quality beef. I wouldn't recommend it. But the main course was wonderful. I had the flat iron and frites and it was excellent. The chimichurri sauce that came with it was excellent and there were enough garlic Parmesan fries on that plate to feed a family. The lemon custard was a perfectly tart way to finish the meal. Order it and take a heaping helping of the custard and put it on the shortbread cookies and take a second to reflect on how life actually isn't that bad. It's a great spot for anyone who lives up north and wants a nice dinner out without having to drive all the way to the city to get some of the best eats. It is a little expensive (think $14 Manhattans...), but you can rationalize that by simply thinking about all the time and gas money you saved by not driving into Seattle during rush hour, right?

Had dinner here with the wife three days ago. Food was AWESOME, seafood chowder is a must with grilled Central Market Como bread. I had the tuna carpaccio, wife had the crab salad both were excellent Back today for lunch, burger is REALLY GOOD, top 5 I've ever had. Bartender Vegas is very knowledgeable and engaging. They're fully engaged with the Bourbon Revolution.

Came here for my birthday dinner and the ambience was amazing! Staff were all very friendly and the environment is just super inviting. We ordered oysters to start with and they were sublime to say the least. I ordered the filet mignon and it was amazing, I was surprisingly full by the end of the meal. My one catch about this place is the single bathroom, however it's not a big deal enough to me to bring down the rating because I'm not there to use the bathroom. Looks like they're expanding to the store next door which should be exciting cause they're running off a very limited space at the moment. I will return and I can't want to try out their breakfast and lunch menu!

Went today for the 2nd time for brunch - S & I is a winner not only for the food, the staff is fantastic as well! They make you feel welcome as if you are are visiting their home for a meal. My son and I were late for our reservation ( for his birthday) because we both got jaywalking tickets in Edmonds (another story). When we finally sat down with my sister & dad the staff had found out and bought us a round of drinks. A small gesture that helped us move on from a frustrating morning! All the brunch entrees were fantastic: Seafood Frittata, SW Steak & Eggs, Oyster Benedict and Waffle Stack. We'll be back for dinner soon!

Salt & Iron didn't quite impressed me or my family (and we're fairly easily impressed). 1. Dungeness crab salad - I never get salads as entrees at restaurants, but I decided that for $23 this had to be a phenomenal salad - it wasn't; it was good but no where close to being worth the price; an abundance of lettuce with light corn, peppers, and crab 2. Scallop risotto - not the greatest risotto but excellent scallops 3. Clam chowder - a little runny for my liking 4. Garlic whipped potatoes - delicious; how can you go wrong with garlic and potatoes?! 5. Oysters (small plate option) - came with three There were multiple things on the menu that caught my eye and made it difficult for me to decide. If I come back, I will probably stick to ordering a few small plates, such as the chowder, whipped potatoes, and asparagus, instead of risking getting the big priced items. Three stars for now, but definitely willing to give it another chance.

A nice addition to the edmonds dining scene, however this place would not be able to compete if it were located anywhere in Seattle. The food is good with typical Pacific Northwest flavors but not particularly innovative. I also think each dish is about 3-5 dollars overpriced. It is no walrus and carpenter but I may come again if I'm craving seafood and I'm too lazy to cook.

Four of us had Saturday brunch. We were in the new part, where Bill's Meats used to be, and the entry door was propped open, so there was a cold draft where we sat. The chairs are not padded and are uncomfortable. All of our entrees were quite good except the waffles, which arrived cold. The main part of the restaurant was quite busy, but our waiter, Josh (aka Roger), served us well. S&I is pretty pricey at dinner, so brunch is a good option.

I love their food and their salad selection. I also love their kids menu, the best options for our healthy eating family. I need a few more visits so I can try more! My son ordered a grilled cheese & side of asparagus.

Addendum at bottom: My husband and I had dinner there last Wednesday for the second time. We went on opening night to support our local business. Both times the service was awful! This last time our waitress took our order and we did not see her for OVER an HOUR! I had to go and ask the host for our check! As for the food it was ok but a little over priced! Addendum: shortly after I wrote this review I was contacted by the owner. He explained the circumstances of the newly expanding the business but gave that as no excuse for the service we received. I was very impressed with the attentiveness of the owner and for that reason I will give this restaurant another try!

Nice restaurant, steak fritz was excellent though steaks were mixed up, I received the med well and my guest the rare. We were sat at the farthest table next to bussing station / men's bathroom. That space should not be a table but a bussing station. Service was good, but table was awkward. I would have given a 4th star but they seem to have a fruit fly issue tonight which was awful! Decor and nice feel to the space. Certainly worth a second visit!

I hate to say this, but this was the worst meal I have ever had. I had the crab salad and yukon au gratin. The gratin was waaaaay undercooked. The potatoes and fennel were hard and were lacking seasoning. The salad was a good portion, lots of crab but it contained shells, the romaine was mostly the rinds, the corn needed to be grilled longer and the dressing tasted like spoonfuls of lemon vinegar-no tarragon flavor was present. My husband had the flat iron and it lacked flavor. The two stars is only for the yellowtail it was the only decent thing we had. We went here for Easter brunch and both had fritattas and were grossly unimpressed but thought we would give dinner a try.

Came in for the "In Between" menu (between lunch and dinner). It was pretty busy, but they let us sit at the bar until a table was ready. The food was amazing and the dessert was even better. The prices fit the quality of food. I had an amazing burger and the aioli for the french fries is to die for. My mom had the Dungeness crab salad which was fresh and light, perfect for a hot summer day. My sister had a melt-in-your-mouth steak with garlic parmesan fries. I'm not sure what the dessert was called but it was a wonderful blend of chai, chocolate and pomegranate. Our new favorite in Edmonds.

3.5 We had a reservation for 5pm and arrived 15 min early. They still sat us, but we were seated at the table at the very back, next to the washroom. There were 2 tables closer to the front but we were told they're all reserved. They were still open when we finished our meal. Anyways, let's jump into the dishes. We had one good dish and a bunch of mediocre ones. We felt that all our dishes were served a bit cold - it's probably because it's been sitting on the counter or in the kitchen waiting to be served. Here's what we ordered: Seafood chowder - Definitely not the best I've had but it was good nonetheless. Cauliflower - Luke warm and lacked flavour and the texture I was looking for. Steak House Poutine - Poorly executed. I felt it lacked presentation and it was soggy. Just like the cauliflower dish it was cold. Cowboy Ribeye - The best dish of the night. It was a perfectly cooked slab of meat albeit pricey. After tip, our final bill was $200 which included a $50 bottle of wine. Edit: It looks like other diners were served house made chips in lieu of bread. We were served neither.

Quaint space with a refreshingly wholesome staff. Perfect for business lunch. All our orders were excellant with flavorful organic ingredients combined with confidence. My scallops were perfectly seasoned over a bed of creamy earthy risotto.

What a wonderful restaurant! We started the night with a Moscow Mule and a Manhattan, which were great, as well as an order of the como loaf. Then we split the Ribeye - which was an amazing choice. The meat was cooked perfectly and I loved the fried onions stacked on top. We also ordered the Spring Salad and the Potatoes and Fennel Au Gratin - which I highly recommend. Salt and Iron was a quaint, clean, and wonderful restaurant. Our server was attentive and professional, and offered us the tip to split the ribeye steak. Cheers to the chef(s), staff, and owners!

Fun place, good food HOWEVER it is very, very loud. Had lunch several times but sat outdoors each time then took friends for dinner and not only was conversation impossible it was so loud it was painful. A few days after read an article in NYTimes "Restaurants Take the Din Out of Dining" the owner should read and consider. I do have to say the fried string onion rings on hamburger are out of this world!

I want to first preface this review by stating the my husband and I rarely complain about service. We are both pretty easy to please, and with a good majority of my working experience coming in the form of serving and bar-tending, I am pretty understanding of potential hiccups. With that said, I was pretty disappointed with the overall experience. My husband and I made reservations for our wedding anniversary, figuring that every time we have walked by Salt & Iron it was packed and we were choosing to go out on a Saturday night. We arrived and were immediately greeted and taken to our table, located directly behind the hostess station and just adjacent to the server station. This was the first let down. There were clearly other open tables, but it felt like we were given the worst table in the house because we had made reservations. Other folks walked in with no reservations, we could clearly hear them because we were located directly behind the hostess station, and were given tables that didn't happen to be floating between two service stations. Table aside, we weren't going to let that bother us too much, but it does come into play later. The first waitress greeted us with waters promptly. After that, our waitress came by and took our drink and appetizer orders. The drinks came fairly promptly, followed by a half dozen oysters. The expediter brought out the oyster plate and then began to walk away to get one of the set-ups that go under the plate to keep it elevated. When he came back we had to stop him before he walked away again to ask which oysters were which. We were told that two of them were Pacifics, which we did not order and pointed out. "Oh, then tell me which you ordered and I'll see if I can figure it out". We named off the 3 types we had ordered and were told that they must be those then. Honestly, not that I would really be able to tell, but when I'm paying $20 for 6 small oysters, I'd love to have them labeled or at least have them presented. The oysters were great, the frozen mignonette was heavenly, just the service was lack-luster. At this point, our very small water glasses had been empty for about 5 minutes. We moved them over to the end of the table, the height of the oyster set-up might have made them harder to see. This is where it's important to note that we were sitting directly behind the hostess station and right next to the service station. It had now been a few more minutes of waiting for water. As we are sitting here, now feeling a little more thirsty and not wanting to chug our beer and wine, we notice a hostess go around us to grab a water pitcher...then proceed to walk past us. Another hostess or server grabs a different water pitcher...then walks past us. Then they each walk past us again to put the pitchers away. At this point we are playing the polite-try-to-make-eye-contact game. Nothing. Again, someone else grabs a water pitcher, walking past us without filling us up. Now it's just silly, so I got up to grab a pitcher and refill our waters. To this the hostess notes "Oh, that pitcher is probably empty". It wasn't. Now our oysters are done, and the salad my husband and I ordered to share is brought out. The small appetizer plates that were originally brought out now contain oyster shells, oyster liquid, lemon juice and mignonette run off. These were not cleared and replaced with new ones. The husband and I like each other well enough, so we just both eat off of the same salad plate. A busser comes by and clears our small plates, the salad plate, and our silverware. Not too long after, but not immediately either, our steaks arrive. This is great...except we have no silverware to eat them with. We have to ask to forks so that we can enjoy our dinner. I don't think our server was lacking, but she definitely did not seem to posses the attention to detail that I would expect in a more upscale restaurant. I know that Salt & Iron isn't a 5 star restaurant, but it's not Red Robin either. Any one of the hiccups above could have occurred and gone under the radar, but it seemed to be one thing after another. The food was amazing, but the service really left me with a completely lackluster feeling. I was excited to have nicer restaurant choices close to home, but this just wasn't the experience I was hoping for. Even with all of that, years of serving give me massive tipping guilt, meaning that we still tipped %18 (which pained me to leave such a small amount) for service that was just meh... After dinner I got up to use the restroom, and the same waitress that served us water at the start walked by and noticed my napkin on my chair, picked it up, folded it, and reset it on the table top. This is the kind of service I would expect in a restaurant where two people spent $150 on dinner. It's the attention to detail that makes all the difference. Long story short, great food but lackluster service.

It's about time Edmonds! I had dinner last night with friends at Edmonds newest rave restaurant and happily it did not disappoint. Here is my " 5 Star " can't miss menu items. Our group loves to share when going out and this was a perfect place to do that. Absolutely loved the steak tartare and the grilled asparagus off the small plate menu. Both 5 stars On the salt side of the menu we shared a dozen fresh oysters (the Kumomotos and the Shigoku being our favorites) and the somewhat spicy Seafood pot (big hit!). Then we tried the BIG, JUICY, & TENDER Cowboy ribeye paired with a fantastic bottle of Merlot. Wow what a great steak it just melted in my mouth, not sure I even needed to chew it, it was that tender. 5 Stars I don't know where they are getting there beef but I've had steak at all (or most) of the major steak houses in Seattle ie.. Daniels, El Gouchos, Ruths Chris, and I'm here to say that the quality of this steak is equal if not a tad better than those mentioned. Kudo's to the Chef!! So every place can improve. Here's our thought. Add a second salad on the dinner menu so you have a choice. Find a quality crafting mixologist to create some signature S & I cocktails. Your food is unique so should your bar. Overall, very impressed and defiantly our "GO TO" restaurant in Edmonds.

I love the vibe of this restaurant! Such a cute spot in downtown Edmonds and has great service, all the staff was very friendly and attentive. They accommodate vegetarians and vegans! Several options to pick from. I enjoyed artisan salad, sub shrimp for avocado. Paired with the cauliflower dish and olives. Our server noted the olives are on the same plate as anchovies, so she offered to put the olives in a bowl so it didn't touch. Lucky enough my boyfriend was able to enjoy all the wonderful meat and seafood that was offered. He loved his pork chops and oysters! Can't wait to come back.

Love the vibe in this fun, new restaurant in downtown Edmonds! Exactly what downtown has been in need of. I have now been a couple of times, once for dinner with my husband a once to meet a group of girlfriends. It's a great date night spot and a fun, inviting scene to mix and mingle with friends. Both times I have had the oysters, the Shigoku are by far my favorite and I love the shallot sorbet that accompany the oysters. My husband and I ordered steaks, which were cooked exactly how we ordered them. We decided to share the poutine and o have to say, it stole the show! We ate up every last bite, it was delicious!!! I highly recommend spending some time at Salt and Iron! The staff is wonderful and very accommodating! So happy to have some more options in Edmonds!

This is four stars for the customer service. The food was way to pricey for what you get so we went for happy hour, they were awesome because technically for happy hour you need to be sitting at the bar but we were with my 94 year old grandpa who couldn't physically sit at the bar so they let us order off the happy hour menu while in the dining area which was really sweet of them. The food itself was mediocre, ordered some clams but there was nothing special about them and it was four dollars for one ear of corn. one martini was 15 dollars and they put three huge olives in it so really you are getting half a glass. but if you are looking for a cute place to eat and don't mind dropping some cash this place is perfect for you. I would only go back if someone else paid, as a barista i can't afford it

We walked in without reservations and was seated right away. The waitress came by and poured water into our glasses and left a glass pitcher of ice water on the table--however the water she poured was warm water! Disgustingly warm water and on a hot 90 degree day. We ordered cocktails which took entirely waaaay too long to arrive. The entrées we ordered came to the table fast and were good. Skipped dessert and walked up the street for yogurt. Overall, the food was good, albeit expensive...but good. The fallbacks...we were not served the complementary chips or bread, the hostess greets you with a question (do you have a reservation?) rather than a welcome, the warm water and the lack of music for ambiance. Maybe after a few months, I'll try this place again...

Edmonds cuisine has been catering towards its well known older population - thus its food has been bland, lacking flavor and any type of excitement. Thank god for Salt & Iron. My friend and I showed up with no reservations on a Friday. The place was pretty full though we were still sat within 5 minutes. We tried all the oysters, had the smelt and fry's, a steak, and for desert a dozen more oysters. It was perfect, full of flavor - Thank you!

First off, the place is really loud. I'd suggest something to soften the walls or ceiling to get it to a level where you can think straight. The Kale sprout salad was good, but wayyyyyyyyy too much lemon. It was so tart that it made our faces pucker. The ribeye steak was perfectly done and great. The star of our meal was the maple brussel sprouts. Wow was that dish out of the world. I would go back, but it was still a little pricey for the dinning experience.

This is the new go-to restaurant in Edmonds! It's only been open a couple months but we've already dined there 10+ times because it's that good! And as amazing as the food is, the service and hospitality is even better. Schubert, Andrew and Ruji are the consummate professionals and run a most welcoming establishment. The pork chop is easily the best you will find in the Seattle area, hands down. Both the salt (seafood) and iron (meat) portions of the menu are creative and offer a perfect meal every time. Brunch is wonderful, as is lunch, and the outdoor sidewalk seating is ideal to bask in an Edmonds kind of day!

We decided to try a one of the newer restaurant in Edmonds, Salt and Iron. It was Saturday night and the place was busy. Even though it was busy, we were seated promptly and greeting soon afterwards by our waiter. A small container of potato chips with a dipping sauce was served to nimble on while our salads were being prepared. The salad was simple, it was adequate. I ordered the Manila clams entrée. This dish consisted of steamed clams over linguine in a white wine / garlic sauce. The clams were well prepared and tasty, as well as the linguine. The bar has a good selection of local microbrews to go with your meal. The restaurant's décor isn't outstanding, but it is nice and looks clean.

We just ate there. The food had a good presentation. I had a leek soup and the New York steak with demi-glacé, my son had the bacon burger. The soup was sweet. There was fried onion or leek garnish - hard to tell -not much taste. In fact that was my takeaway about the whole meal. It all tasted land. My son said he likes the burgers at B3. Two house glasses of cab and two lemonades with the meal (no dessert) was $85. With a tip $100. We were there at 3:00 - it was booked the night before so she had us make reservations, saying anything from 1 on. When we got there the (owner?) was telling another couple they'd have to eat at the bar. When I told him we had reservations he said they honor it. The place was completely empty and wanted to seat us at a very small table in the middle. I asked we get a bigger table by the window. He checked his IPad and said yeah that's open until 6:30 so it should be OK. I was close to feeling like he was doing me a favor and said we'd can just come back when they are more prepared he said no they'd honor the reservation. The waitress was nice. The wine held maybe 5 bounces if that much A $17 burger and $35 NY steak that was a bit over done. Not going back. Might give them another chance in a couple of months.

Here for my birthday lunch. Great service! Shared the steak dip with a friend. OMG it was so tender and flavorful. My friend had the clam chowder too and is certain she will rave about it to everyone. Plus I get a free dessert. Thanks, S & I. We will be back.

Went to Happy Hour. Great service. Steak salad and fries very good. But don't get the roasted corn. It was not served hot, barely lukewarm, and also not a fan of gooey sauce on corn. Will go back and try other food.

At the suggestion of a friend, we chose Salt & Iron for our Anniversary dinner. We like amazing food and are turned off by tiny portions. Walking in, we were impressed by the character of the place. We arrived at happy hour and ordered several appetizers, all were decent portions. The oysters were tiny and tasty, a special iced topping was an interesting flair. My husband LOVED the smelt fries and my favorite was the clam/mussel dish. Our entrees were delicious - I had the flat iron steak, he had the crab salad. Generous portions meant leftovers, can't wait to eat them for lunch. Also loved the local Woodinville wine selection. There were so many dishes that came by that looked amazing, its safe to say that we will be back soon to try. Shout out to the bartender JIN, who made excellent lemon drops, and to one of the owners, Andrew for making sure we were enjoying our dining experience. For a newer restaurant it was quite busy - looks like this place is a hit!

We had seen the signs announcing in the place and have been waiting to try it. But it only seats 49 and has been so busy it is difficult to get it. Finally we dropped by about four in the afternoon and got seats at the bar. The place is done in white and silver. White walls and paint, silver fixtures and chairs, marble with grey accents on the bar. We were greeted warmly and bellied up to the bar. We started a couple beers and a half dozen of shigoku oysters. I haven't had these and the are small, with a creamy texture and just a hint of brine. For dinner Cam went with roasted fingerling potatoes and steak tartare. I had the smelt fries and chips. The food was outstanding. Though having never eaten fried smelt I had to get used to the tiny bones. But quite good. Cam's steak tartare was excellent. For dessert she had the smokey margarita and I had an old fashion made with rye. Quality drinks. They are expanding into the space next door and should be done by end of May. Definitely worth stopping by.

Great meal this evening. The service was awesome. Seafood chowder was like home made, very yummy. Seared scallops with asparagus risotto was excellent Tried the steak tartare, never had it before, was very good. My personal favorite oysters, ,,, love, love them. I would enjoy a larger beer seletion. Overall a very fine dining experience, look forward to going back.

Great new place in Edmonds!! Great food! Amazing service! Excellent! I started with some fresh oysters that were very good! Also enjoyed the filet which had a delicious glaze on it. Washed down a few Moscow Mules! Service was over the top amazing and the decor was very cool! I highly recommend you check this place out!

Saw this place and happened to come here for brunch on first official opening day. Menu is good, some innovative items like oysters benedict which one of the people in my party ordered and LOVED. Generous portions. The BLTE was delicious (I stole a bite) and the Avocado toast was perfectly excecuted, simple dish. Service was prompt but a touch rough around the edges which is to be expected on opening day as they are working out the kinks. Everyone seemed to be trying hard to make it a great experience. Will definitely come back for this crazy good food.

The atmosphere was great. The wait staff was attentive when we first arrived but as the restaurant got busier we were ignored and our food order was forgotten. If the waitress had come to check on us, we would definitely have a couple more glasses of wine. I'm originally Canadian - I never seen anyone screw up Poutine as well as Salt and Iron. Charcuterie was delicious and well presented. Our waitress wasn't knowledgeable about the oysters but they were fresh and comparable to other oyster venues in Seattle. Nothing on the menu was out of the ordinary. My friend and I were going to share a main course but the waitress forgot to put in the order. Decent selection of wine. I would go there to enjoy a glass of wine and probably sit at the bar where service is probably prompt.

Downtown Edmonds' newest addition to dining and Schubert Ho's( Bar Dojo) feather in his chef's cap. Clean & classic interiors.. A full bar and attentive staff support a concise but cohesive menu that starts with complimentary house made chips with calamata aioli.. Generous cocktails and great offerings.. Even brunch on the weekends. Only less than a week old..

Great food and great selections! Watermelon salad (excellent goat cheese) and the sardine/tapenade toast were both delicious! Good wine and atmosphere, very attentive staff and decent pricing. The only thing that left a little to be desired was the yellowtail. Overall, definitely going back!

We sat on the patio and had an amazing dinner! The asparagus appetizer and burger were the absolute best creation! I am not a fan of sunny side up eggs, but these two dishes definitely changed my mind. The server Jared was awesome; really down to earth. I can't wait to go back.

I love the atmosphere and decor of Salt and Iron but found the menu (both drink and dinner) rather uninspired and old hat. First off, the space is well executed and inviting, it has an Edmonds-ized Walrus and the Carpenter/The Whale Wins look and feel to it. We were seated next to the window which was great at first became but became distracting for my husband who was facing it as the sun began to set. Unfortunately for him there weren't blinds (as far as I can remember, and if there was they weren't drawn) so he spent part of his meal squinting at me as we talked. Not really a big deal but still a very small irritation. We each ordered drinks which tasted well enough but were overpriced considering their lack of creativity/options. Dinner wasn't bad but not memorable- I literally do not recall what we ordered. What I do recall is an overwhelming sense of "meh", not bad but not outstanding. On the other hand I do not feel like the prices matched the product. I hate comparing one restaurant to another but having eaten regularly at other establishments with a similar concept or menu Salt and Iron is overpriced. I will say through, that service was excellent and attentive....except for the manager who was chatting with a table seated next to us about how poorly he thought of Tom Douglas's business practices regarding the recent $15 wage increase as well as how overworked and frustrated he had been with his scheduling since the opening of this restaurant. It was definitely in poor taste and unprofessional as there were several other diners within earshot.

Salt & Iron rocks! Casual or dressed up, best choice in town. Watermelon salad was crisp & delicious Steak Tartar was rich and smooth, with the creamy yolk perfectly balancing the tender beef flavor fried Chicken was crisp on the outside, juicy on the inside, and exquisitely flavored with salt and spice. The Cajun corn on the cob with butter aioli is a great compliment Sea scallops with asparagus risotto was the perfect smaller entrée choice We were too full to try dessert, but will definitely be back to sample the selection

Came here kinda late on a Nice sunny Sunday evening, was greeted right away with smiles. We chose to sit outside and was waited on by an excellent servicer! I believe his name was jared. He came right over and brought was waters and asked if there was anything else we would like to drink and made some recommendations for food (which I love especially trying a new place!) we ended up getting the salad he recommended and it was amazing. I ordered the Salmon which was cooked perfectly! (And I'm picky about my salmon) my date got steak and fries which was also amazing. After a few bites Jared came back over to check and make sure everything was good and if we needed anything else. His customer service was amazing, you know how sometimes you take a few bites and then realize you don't have ketchup or something? (I hate that) even tho it was late on a Sunday evening we didn't feel rushed at all. It was a nice relaxing environment and will defiantly be coming back to try more things on the menu!

Place wasn't even busy Arrived 1030 Sunday morning. 4-5 open tables inside and several outside. After waiting a few mins the host said they had a lot of reservations. I was expecting her to say 30 mins maybe one hour wait which would've still been disappointing being that there were plenty of tables avail. Instead was told because of reservations for later would not be able to accommodate us at all! Keep in mind We were a Party of 3. Not party of 10. Never ever been turned away from a restaurant my whole life, only have been given ridiculous wait times so needless to say I won't be back.

Absolutely delicious and wonderfully clean and modern atmosphere. I had the salmon and my husband had filet and both were delicious. The small plates are indeed small and just plan on ordering two if you are getting one as an appetizer.

This is what Downtown Edmonds has been in need of for a very long time! Steak & Oysters! One of the first opening nights I went there with my husband. It was slammed! So happy we made reservations, or it would have been a long wait I bet. Entering the restaurant was such a fun, exciting feeling probably cause everyone was a part of this new place! The staff was really happy and friendly took us to our table promptly, and as we walked to our seats, I couldn't help but notice the decor and the ambience. It gave me kind of a Cape Cod kind of feel! The woodwork with the white bead-board, with the contrasting wood trim was just beautiful! we got seated and ordered. We decided on sharing the 24oz Rib-eye, with a side of the Brussels Sprouts, and started it all off with 3 Shigoku Oysters, which was the perfect start to the incredible meal to follow. Those Shigoku's yummy, briny and I loved the mignonette that came with it! Next came the Big Steak that was juicy and cooked to perfection! And the Brussels that were glazed with maple and crispy bacon, wow! Those were incredible! A definite must every time I think! Our waitress was very sweet and good service, made sure we were happy through out our time there! So basically I love this place now! I've been back a handful of times since. and every-time the staff is awesome! And there are actually a few that are recognizing me now! A few of the times that were for just a small plate and a drink. I ordered The Charcuterie which I highly recommend, or the Olive plate! They put a little ramekin of pickled brussels sprouts (which I love anything pickled) on both of those plates. I could go on and on but here is the gist of it: Im definitely a BIG fan of this place called Salt and Iron!!

Food is very good. Try the beef sliders or hamburger. Mixed drinks are quite expensive for the size. The lemon drop was half a glass. Otherwise, all was very enjoyable. Decor is great, has a seaside feel. Highly recommended. Just drink before you go.

Salt & Iron is the type of restaurant you want to succeed (and so far it has): its menu shows imagination and creative flair, its ambience is top-notch (the designers make a small space go far) and showcases a bright and white venue that more than matches off the typically gloomy days of the Pacific Northwest, and the hosts and wait staff are each excellent, always smiling no matter the request. My wife's and my server in fact was the best waiter I have encountered since a singular waiter in LA. (Chaya Brasserie in West Hollywood.) The devil is in the details though, and I fear Salt & Iron is a victim of its success: food crumbs and scraps left on the chairs, the tables, the floor. We wondered.... So no real surprise to discover the food, yummy though it is, was not thoroughly cleaned, with the grit of dirt lacing a few items. Which is not enough to keep us from returning to Salt & Iron. We intend to do just that, but to wait a few weeks, let the staff iron out the wrinkles that occur because of their deserved success. With so much done so excellently from the get-go, certainly Salt & Iron deserves a return visit. And more.

It was a glorious day in Seattle and my husband and I decided to take a drive to Edmonds for breakfast. I made reservations at Salt and Iron and upon arrival we were greeted by two very nice gentlemen, one of whom was called Vega. Every restaurant should take a lesson from this man on perfect etiquette, graciousness and service. He called us by name every time he stopped by our table. I was suffering from a bad cough and asked if he would bring me honey to soothe my throat. It came moments later, warmed I might add! They have a wonderful choice of dishes to choose from. My husband ordered the steak frittata, and I, the Dungeness Crab salad! Both were beautifully presented and delicious! It was a delightful experience from the moment we walked in. I could hear Vega greeting others, also by name. It was these little extra attentions to detail that really made this restaurant stand out! We look forward to coming back for dinner soon. Run, do no walk, to this great new addition to Edmonds! You will not be disappointed!

Exactly what Edmonds needs! We were so excited to eat at Salt & Iron once it opened and, we both agreed, it was well worth the wait! Not living in Edmonds, we were pleasantly surprised to walk in and find such a fresh, coastal decor--ideal for the location. Our starters of the Kale Sprout Salad (a hybrid I'd never heard of but I'll now seek out) and Grilled Bread with Chimichurri were both so good I think I might order them every time I come. Tons of flavor! For dinner I had the scallop risotto and my husband had the steak--both were cooked perfectly. Though stuffed, we couldn't resist trying the Huckleberry Pie with gelato, which ended up being the perfect way to finish this great meal.

I've been here for both brunch and dinner and the food is pretty solid. For brunch, I would recommend the seafood frittata. I ordered oysters benedict which were not bad, but the seafood frittata was much better. I'm usually not a fun of omelets and frittatas, but this was very flavorful and had a good egg to seafood ratio. They also use local coffee (forgot the name) which was also very good. For dinner, I had pork chops and the steakhouse poutine and oysters for appetizers. The oysters are a bit pricey ($2.50-$3.50 per oyster), but they were fresh and came with a mignonette in the form of crushed ice. The mignonette is pretty tart which I prefer, but you may want to taste it beforehand in case you have a sensitive palette. I wasn't expecting much from the poutine, but the table next to us was having it and it looked pretty tasty. It was really good and not too greasy or salty. I just wish there had been more of it :) The pork chops were alright - nothing super different but they were cooked properly and the portion was pretty generous. I tried some of my brother's NY strip and it was delicious. I will be ordering that next time. Dessert was berry pie which also came with a scoop of gelato. In past experience, a lot of restaurant tend to make berry pie/cobbler overly sweet or don't use fresh berries, but I could tell it was not the case with this. Just the right amount of sweetness with the gelato balanced out the tartness of the berries. I'm not much too skimp on food so the bill was pretty high. We had 2 drinks, 10 oysters, 1 appetizer, 3 main dishes, and a dessert and the bill came out to around $160 before tip. I do love this place, but it is a bit pricey to come regularly. If you are familiar with Bar Dojo (same owner), the concept is completely different. The decor reminds me of a modern western saloon. There aren't any Asian inspired dishes here. Just straight-forward seafood and steak. It isn't a huge space, but can probably fit around 40 people. I'm not sure how busy it is during the week, but I would recommend reservations unless you plan to sit at the bar. Service was great!

Really lovely experience at lunch today. Sat outside with a friend I had not seen for 45 years! I mentioned that to our server and he so graciously kept us taken care of, but supported all the time we took! He even gave us a complimentary dessert as a celebration! Not only was the server warm and gracious, but his assistant was, as well. Food was a great addition! This was my second time there - and as they expand, we'll surely be back!

We just left Salt & Iron. We were there for brunch. I had a burger, it was very good. The meat was cooked correctly, juicy and tasty. I didn't like the large pieces of bacon or the greens. Hard to bite into. The fries were so so, just bits and pieces. Everyone in the area should go to Hill's in Richmond Beach for their fries, they are the best. My husband had The Staple, eggs, sausage and potatoes. The eggs and potatoes were cooked to perfection the sausage was a bit unusual, round balls of sausage coated with maybe maple syrup. Service was great. I could see into the kitchen, nothing sat around after it was plated more than a couple of minutes. The noise level was a bit high, it would have been hard to hear each other if you sat at a 4 top, lots of hard surfaces. The décor was nice, clean and bright. I would recommend reservations,

Wow, what an awesome addition to downtown Edmonds! We went here for Father's Day and had a delicious dinner. The homemade chips and kalamata aioli were SO good, literally the best homemade chips we've had. Our server Jerad was really great, gave us great recommendations on what to order and we were pleased with all of it. We got the asparagus to start and it had the most incredible flavor. There was a fried egg on top and this amazing stone ground mustard parmesan sauce on it...Honestly. The best asparagus dish I've ever had by far but also just one of the best dishes in general. I also had a Moscow Mule that was perfectly sweet and my parents loved their wine. The server suggested the filet mignon so I ordered it and was in heaven with each bite. It melted in my mouth and tasted incredible. My mom and steak and fries and my dad had the scallops, both also so so good. I will definitely be going back often and am excited to have a new favorite place in my new town. I can't wait to try happy hour and the rest of the menu. Also while we were there they told us they are expanding into the space next door. More seating! More room for me to eat!

Really great food, service and drinks. I cant wait for them to expand into the place next door so it wont be so packed. As I entered I noticed them washing a a frozen martini glass with vermouth before making a martini. Seeing that sort or care taken with preparations I got a Cosmopolitan (with Cointreau). Best martini I have ever had. The steak was cooked perfect, the appetizers were scrumptious. We have more reservations for next week. Definitely make reservations as they are very popular.

Excellent. We were there Friday night of opening week. In lieu of bread they provide house-made chips, which were delicious. I ordered the filet and was very pleased. I highly recommend giving this new Edmonds spot a try. Service was prompt and pleasant, the Moscow Mule I ordered was perhaps the best I have had, and the food was flawless.

Went here for Seattle Restaurant Week and it was definitely a good choice! I had the Anchovies & Olives appetizer, Clam Linguini, and topped it off with the berry pie (more like a cobbler, but was still really tasty!) Love the vibe of this place, service was excellent, will for sure be coming back again soon!

As someone else said on another review, our dining experience was also unfortunate. The noise level is beyond annoying. I understand they are enlarging the restaurant so hopefully that will help lower the decibel range. The food was fine but not terribly remarkable. The prices seem very high what is served. It will be interesting to see if they can make a go of it once the summer tourists have departed and the locals have tried it once.

Celebrated my anniversary with my wife here. I would highly recommend this to anyone I know. I'm glad to see a place like this in Edmonds. We had oysters, beer, scallops and fried chicken. My wife had the watermelon salad and claims it was "divine". Definitely looking forward to our next visit.

Ok. So... I'll start by saying that I am a major foodie and LOVE dinning out. 2.5 stars Ambiance: Very sterile. Lights too bright and all white walls. Place is having an identity crisis, what are they going for? New place, so I get it but def needs some more character. Service: Real effort for good service. They were accommodating, friendly and attentive. Food: Oysters were very good and so was the cheese appetizer appetizer plate. We got a NY steak which was smothered in cheese. Really?? A NY steak?? Pretty bland for a steak though. We also got the linguini and clams. I order this often at seafood restaurants. Bland. Just bland. Tasted like I was eating linguini With clams on the side. Cost/benefit: Pricey for the quality of the food and the feel of a "Night out". $120 including tip for food that was just ok. I give most places three tries and order different things. I would give this place another try, a few months from now. Epulo gives them a run for their money. Also Church Key has a much bigger selection of drinks. Come on Salt & Iron! I want to come back and love it!

This was my first time trying salt and iron and I must say my first impression was delicious! I work nearby and therefore get lunch to go from a lot of the local restaurants. The prices here are a little more than I would typically go for but after passing by it a few times the charm of this restaurant drew me in. I simply got the ghost pepper chop salad for my lunch and it was anything but simple! It was very complex in flavor from the mushrooms that had a hint of a truffle taste to the somewhat savory but light taste of the salami and the dressing topped it off with a light and slightly creamy texture; magnificent! I even like that they had the dressing in a little side container vs how some places pour the dressing directly on, sometimes causing my lettuce to get soggy. This place will definitely give red twig and some of my other lunch spots a run for their money. Can't wait to try them for dinner sometime!

Total Hit and Miss. The meal was really all over the place but I think the bad outweighed the good for the most part. The service was extremely slow as our dinner took 2.5 hours for 4 people and 2 kids. Some of the food tasted good and some of the food was mediocre to terrible. The dinner started out okay as we ordered the poutine (good), charcuterie plate (good but super skimpy) and the parsnip soup (standard high end puree, nothing fantastic). However during the main course, the scallop risotto I ordered was definitely amateur hour as the wine was not cooked out of it and tasted extremely bitter. We had to ask them to take back both of the risotto's as they were unedible. The chef needed to taste it before it was sent out as that was unedible. The scallops were pretty small for entree scallops. My wife's clam linguine was flavorless and tasted like unsalted glob of garlic water on the bottom of clumpy pasta and skimpy clams. The desserts were just okay. The place was very small and while I wasn't expecting free anything for the poor service, it would've been nice to get offered. The waitress was nice but I think she was a little flustered at how often things were going wrong. The food tasted okay enough to come back but this place definitely needs to improve if they want to stick around. Also, I don't know if they have air condiitioning but they are going to need it in the summer as it was hot in there even though it was only 65 degrees out.

Pass on this one. Yes, the decor is chic but that's about it. At 4:00 in the afternoon when the restaurant is empty, you would expect the best they can offer, right? Wrong! Three of our party of four were served our plates but it took a full 10 minutes for our fourth to be served. The oyster po boy was mediocre, the French fries were served cold, the steaks were ordered medium but served well done. Never again.

Breakfast food was over cooked and bland, water served at the table was warm. Service was great though, very friendly.

This place is great. We stopped here for brunch and were blown away by the food. Everything was well seasoned and delicious. My frittata had a creative combinations of vegetables with a balsamic vinegar reduction that was divine. And the breakfast potatoes were worth the trip by themselves--crispy without being dry. The place is small, but very airy, so you don't feel crowded even with the place pretty full. I'll be stopping here again to try their other menus.

Delish small plates, lots of options for vegetarians. Nice convivial atmosphere. Different for Edmonds, in a good way. :)

YES!! Love, love, love this place! Went for HH with 5 other gals and we were totally spoiled by our server (aka bartender, aka owner). Small plates, HH menu and regular menu had so much to offer for sharing (creamy parsnip bisque, roasted Brussels sprouts with pancetta, charcuterie plate, clams), really unique and on trend with urban bistros in Seattle and Portland. Steak salad was perfection! Great vibe, sort of a French cafe feel (even the music was on-brand), generous wine pours for $4 (HH wines include some unique CA and NW labels AND some imports--YAY). Darby was the hostess (good snag getting her, she is a total pro) and she kept one eye on the door and one eye on guests as 6pm rolled around and the place started getting busy. She even offered a hand to help us close out as our bartender was slammed. They GET service here. Will visit again SOON with hubby as Salt & Iron has a great intimate floor plan for 2-tops. Thank goodness we have a new, chic night spot in Edmonds!

Excellent food, great atmosphere, shared/nearby neighbor seating gives you the chance to have conversations with the people around you if you choose.

I ate here last Friday and didn't care for many of the dishes. The owner responded quickly to my review and wanted me to give them a second chance. This kind of response goes a long way these days, so I would like to change my review to 4 stars, as I think they might have just had an off night. Service was professional and friendly. I hope this new restaurant can "iron" out some of the wrinkles and become a thriving amazing restaurant in Edmonds. Everyone deserves a second chance

They will have to do a better job to keep up with the other great restaurants in Edmonds. There were 6 of us who all ordered Filet/NY Strip, Scallops and Salmon as well as the seafood chowder. EVERYTHING WAS COLD! We sent them back and the young waiter didn't know how to react. Also, their pours of wine were scant - at least 1-2 ounces short. We did not ask for a discount due to the food temperature, but would have been nice to be offered a dessert to share. It will be a while before we return.

NIce atmosphere, great location, and a little spendy. I've always heard of chicken and waffles, but never had the opportunity to enjoy them. Also, the seafood omlette was done very nicely. My only gripe is that I have to look at my servers nose ring (horseshoe) everytime she comes by to check on us. Kind of disgusting; this is Edmonds not Fremont. I'll come back when I know they've asked their staff to be a little more presentable to their patrons.

Stopped in on a Sunday evening with no reservation, hostess immediately assisted the party that came in behind me, was told there was no tables available and no room at the bar, no wait times or anything and basically just told to leave. Sure the food was decent, but the service definitely made a poor impression.

Took my mom to Easter brunch. Made a reservation for 2 thru opentable but ended up with a high table in the bar. Was hoping for a table in the dining area--not in the bar. But the place wa packed so we had no option. This was tough because my mom is disabled and sitting in a high table is not easy. We both ordered the egg's Benedict . Came out fast but very salty! I know this restaurant just opened so I figured there were still a few kinks to iron out. The worst part was getting the bill and getting charged $75 for two entrees & a coffee. The correct amount was $35. It took the staff FOREVER to figure it out. But they fixed it. Would have been nice for the staff to say sorry-but again Easter brunch is busy. Next year it's back to Scott B&G.

I live in Edmonds and I've been here 4 times now, each time hoping the food would improve. The creamy parsnip soup I was served was more like parsnip paste, way to thick and not particularly flavorful. The scallop risotto had perfectly cooked scallops but the risotto was way to tight, it needed more liquid. I liked the concept of the asparagus salad with a sunny side up egg, but the dressing of REALLY heavy mustard seed/mayo? way to thick and too much (think it should have been a vinaigrette because the egg already lends a richness to the salad) Most of my arugula was left rendered inedible as it was drenched in the dressing. My husband loved his pork chop and we enjoyed sitting at the bar with great service from the bartender. Sorry I can't remember his name......it rhymed with something? I did enjoy the half chicken salad I shared with a friend at lunch, glad we shared as the portion was very generous. The last time we went was late night with 4 of us for drinks at the bar. We had been at another bar in Edmonds and decided to wander over to Salt and Iron. The first thing my daughter said was "the drinks are $3 more on average" than where we came from. I guess it's not really meant to be a late-night watering hole. Anyway, I would love to be more positive about this place because I love to support local business. I worry that if they move into the space next door as planned they will not make it....prices are really high for Edmonds and the food needs work. The decor is a bit to cafeteria...Walrus and Carpenter and Whale Wins not withstanding.
