We came in, it was packed but we were seated right away, then two different waiters walked by in a span of two minutes asking if we'd decided on our order. When we did decide, our bowls were in front of us in no more than 3 minutes. I love how everyone is just slurping soup, having a grand old time. Pho happens to be a less than elegant food and this place has the right atmosphere. I'm not sure if they make there own broth or if it's from a mix, but I would guess that it is a mix. That's the only thing I can say tastewise I've experienced better elsewhere, Pho.com by Ranch 99 simmers their own broth daily. (There are also no notices on Pho Than's menu saying no MSG)

Definitely the best pho place I've been to in the Seattle area. I went in on a Sunday afternoon and it was packed but I was seated promptly. The decor was unfussy and the menus are under the glass surface of the table, probably to speed up the process of ordering. The staff was super friendly and efficient, and I had my food less than 10 minutes after I arrived. I had the veggie pho and I think I ordered a medium because it was so cheap- about $7, with a massive plate of bean sprouts and basil on the side. The bowl that came out was HUGE with loads of noodles and veggies and I struggled to finish. Next time I'll get a small (: The only downside is that it is cash only, but at least they have an ATM onsite. I suppose the free cream puffs make up for it though.

My number 1 go to place for pho! They have locations everywhere, and they are all typically consistent with their quality/quantity of foods, customer service, etc. Edmonds location ONLY takes cash. They do have an ATM machine in there, but I believe it charges 3+ So be sure to bring cash before heading over. My favorite is the chicken pho & I always add tendon! Each entree comes with their homemade creme puffs! It's so delicious I can eat 5!!!!!!!!!!!!!

These people are really committed to their customers. Even when the power was out from the massive wind storm, they were still serving. It is a good thing they had gas ranges. The pho quality did not suffer one bit. The slightly dimmed ambiance was actually quite pleasing and the place was still packed for lunch.

Food was quick to come out but there was hair in the water and in the bowl of pho. Apology was insincere and the server just gave us another bowl of pho without a second glance or word. Plan on never coming back again.

Favorite place to get Pho, all of the locations are equally good. The broth is fantastic and they are super friendly. I like to get the veggie pho in the beef broth, they give plenty of stuff and you can buy extra noodles to make a kids pho with some of the adults broth. Their pastries are fantastic.

You go to Pho Than Brothers for one thing. Pho. You might also go for the cream puffs, but most people come for the pho. I'm not sure if it's a franchise, as it seems like owners have changed hands over the years. With those changes, I really think the consistency of their pho goes along with it. Most recently, it's been pretty great. I love the speed, and it's always the perfect flavor every time I crave pho. Except for my mamas of course. I usually go for a small #9, two circles of sriachia and four hoisin sauce. Everyone likes their pho differently right? I love a lot of lime, and a little bit of bean sprouts, and that's my perfect bowl. The pho here is satisfying, and great if you're in a time crunch. It's cheap, fast, and fairly friendly. Bring cash, but they do have an atm on site!

Pho Than Brothers is always good. I come to realize the must be franchised because the restaurant listed as Edmonds location does not take credit cards. I've never been to a Than Brothers that doesn't take credit card. Cash Only. Not only do they not post clearly before you enter that they are Cash Only, they have a cash machine in the resturant. Just in case you realize finally as you are eating they don't take cards. Guess what? They charge 2.50 to get cash to pay your dinner bill. Very sneaky. Won't be back, there's another in Lynnwood most likely same distance from my place.

I always order the brisket only large pho. The pho comes out in LITERALLY one minute from the time you order it. The taste is predictably good. The noodles are chewy and the broth is flavorful and plenty of brisket is given. For those that are on a 30 minute lunch timeslot, this place is perfect as you can eat a hearty bowl of pho without the extended time commitment!

This is a go-to spot for consistent pho. Service is always top notch and friendly. They are crazy fast with take out orders... maybe 3 minutes tops from ordering to walking out the door with a bowl of happiness. Tip: cash only. Make sure to also visit the bakery a few doors down to complete your dining experience.

I had to update my review because the broth is just that GOOD! Seriously the best pho I've ever had in the Seattle area.

Exactly what I expect of a Pho Than Brothers - decent pho, large portions, the delicious cream puff and low prices. This location is nicer than most of the others we've visited (Cap Hill, Green Lake, Ballard).

  • Michael D.

Super fast!!! From sitting down, to order, and have our foods, in less than 7 mins (for party of 3). That's just crazy peed at any kind of restaurants. Plus a free cream puff with every order, this place is just super awesome. The Ph is here very flavorful, best in town, and maybe in the State of WA. Come and eat here...and write your own 5 stars reviews.

My family and I have been coming here for years. They know us and what we want all though they still take our order because we change our soup sizes. The owner always jokes with my dad about ordering an extra large instead of ordering a large since sometimes he does order the extra large. We just laugh about it because my dad gets embarrassed:) They know we order two spring roll orders, they know that we always order the number 6, they know my dad orders a coke and the rest of us order water. They also know that 3 out of 5 of us use forks instead of chopsticks so they automatically bring them out with the bean sprouts plate. This place has never let us down!! Best pho I've had and they give you cream puffs!!! They're delicious!! Customer service itself is 5 stars but the food as well is 5 stars! All other pho restaurants have let me down because I'm a regular here and no others compare! Make sure to always carry cash!!

My first taste of pho and I'm a fan! Fast and friendly service for family of 4 at weekday dinner hour. Waiters did not hover, but I appreciated that they checked on us after bringing our food and refilled our water glasses. More experienced pho lovers (the other three of the family) said the flavor was spot on and that the assorted add-ons were just as desired. Spring rolls were large and fresh. Cream puffs were enjoyed by the others as well. As I am gluten-free, I can not say for certain, but by their smiles and the fight for the last (my) cream puff, I assume they were tasty. Pho Than is now the standard request when we are going for pho.

  • Lindsey N.

I use to love the pho here. It's cheap and it's delicious! However, I learned from a reliable source that they do not let their waiters keep the tips that are meant for the waiters. I realize that this is a common practice at smaller Asian restaurants, but it is in no way acceptable. If you want more money, charge more for your pho. Do not steal from the waiters. They are barely making much at all!

  • Brett S.

This is my #1 favorite restaurant. The prices are great, they serve your meal within 5-6 minutes of ordering, and the pho itself is top notch. Could they do some things better? Yes, they're a little bit slow to refill your water - you'll most likely have to flag someone down for that. That said, you really can't complain when you're paying $5.50 (or whatever it is) for an amazing meal.

    (5)
  • Jennifer P.

The pho here is good but a little salty. They are not very prompt about refilling water cups, either. They seem to skimp on the meat as well, which requires you to have to order extra meat in order to get a ls equivalent full serving of meat at other pho locations.

  • Pamela G.

Than Brothers on Highway 99 in Edmonds, has, hands down, the best Pho around. Every bowl is perfect. Their service is fantastic, they're friendly and fast. There's really nothing about this restaurant that isn't perfect. Expect it to be busy, because it always is and bring cash because that's all they accept. If you're starving then attempt the large Pho, but if you're not on the verge of death from starvation go with the small bowl because the small bowl is the size of a large tureen.

(I would suggest reading all reviews, I would not trust the soup, people found flys and tooth picks in their soups, the food should not be trusted) Awful, awful customer service. Every time I come in I get crappy service, they bring you your soup and then disappear. Never refill your water, you can hear them yelling in the kitchen, only one person knows English (barely). However the soup was ok and cheap. Though this last time I went will be the last time I ever go. We walked in and were promptly asked what we wanted, (we hadnt even the chance to see the menu) we said we need more time, the waiter then replies, "you want spring roll?" as if it came with the meal, we said sure. He ran off without even letting us say another word as I wanted to order a cup of tea and within seconds brings out spring rolls that looked like they had been sitting forever we told him they do not look fresh and sent them back, at the same time we placed order. He comes back with fried egg roles and soup, we try to stop him to ask if the egg roles had pork and why he brought us fried ones? ( I should mention the spring role was wrapped in clear rice paper). Frustrated we had our soup and over 35minutes went by and we managed to catch one of the workers and asked her are these pork we asked for spring roles? She said yes they are pork and tried to run off again, this time I yelled "excuse me!" we asked for spring, why did you bring us pork? she said its egg role not spring. I told her again, then why did you give us these?! she said again they are fried they are pork. I have never wanted to deck someone in the teeth so bad. Her awful service and half-ass crap English ruined our meal. We proceed to leave and see the egg roles on our check we ask her to remove the charge as we did not eat them, she said but we fry and give you. At that moment I had to walk away. We paid, we left. Never ever will we go back, nor should anyone else. They are rude and disgusting. The only clean and good place for pho was five corners in Edmonds, sadly they closed because one of the owners fell sick. They were amazing.

Aw... This is my favorite pho place in town, but they had tough meat!! I ordered brisket, steak, and tendon. The brisket is what I look forward to the most, but it was weirdly chewy and hard to enjoy. The service is quick as usual (plate of fixings + free cream puffs), and the broth is awesome. Hopefully their low quality meat was just a one day thing... I will try it out again the next time I'm in Edmonds.

Than Bros (any location) is my favorite place for pho. I'm sure someone with a background eating Vietnamese food could suggest a dozen other pho establishments better than this one, but I'm a native born American and can't really tell the difference. I'm more interested in the cleanliness of the restaurant than the quality of food. To me, the pho is fantastic, but I think the cream puffs are the icing on the cake! Don't expect phenomenal service, and it's CASH only, but it works for me.

    (4)
  • Zach P.

It's okay, very similar to other Than Bros, except this one is still cash only. They obviously know this is a problem, so their answer is to install a high fee ATM. I get that cards come with transaction fees, tack on $0.50 or a buck or whatever to the bill. Asking me to pay a larger ATM fee just so you can continue to cheat on taxes or whatever is too much to ask of your customers when there're so many other pho places around. 4 stars for Than Bros, -1 for cash only, -1 for installing an ATM to charge me to pay you.

I work near the Queen Anne location and have lunch there often. The Edmonds is also great. The cash only policy in Edmonds is strange. Best Pho I've ever had.

  • Aly A.

The food was really good! I had a veggie pho and it had fresh broccoli, carrots, chives, mushrooms and tofu. I was a little disappointed that they didn't have any appetizers on the menu. Aside from the food, the service was mediocre. we came in and the first thing i noticed were dirty tables, and I sat down to wait for a clean table. I was shown to my table, realized that i had to sit at the same table with another couple. This was a little awkward, but not a big deal. Then I got my food. Seconds later, the server took my food because she had mistakenly given it to me. I would definately come back and have the veggie pho again! hopefully, the service improves a little.

  • Gina K.

Yummy! Super fast, clean, tasty, tasty soup and you get a delicious cream puff with your order. Seriously, my daughter and I went in for lunch today, sat down, 1 minute later had our order taken and 1 minute after that had our food. One thing to remember at this location if you need a fork, like I do (don't judge) you have to ask (Everett has them on the table) which I normally forget to until well after I need it and am wearing some of my soup. As other yelpers have mentioned CASH ONLY but it's cheap, too - 2 bowls of pho (one small, one medium) and a Diet Coke set me back $15. So if you have a $20 you have enough for lunch/dinner for 2.

Some will argue that this place is not "authentic". I think it's the best PHO around. I can't eat it in the summer, but practically any other time it is awesome. Nice staff, really clean and efficient. They work hard. Pros: Awesome Flavor... Cons: I can't eat during summer :)

I knew it. I should have just gone to Pasteur's in Everett. The meat, broth, everything is much better there. I just came at the recommendation of some people who live by this place. My brother and I went here yesterday for New Year's. We never had the greatest relationship, but we've been reconciling and what-not, so it was good to just meet him. Never would we have guessed that this place would make us feel sick after and angry at their service... There was NO SERVICE! They didn't even ask if I wanted something out (usually take out the sprouts). And the lady literally asked us what we wanted, when she could see that we hadn't even looked at the menu. I understand. It was New Years. SO WHY DIDN"T THEY JUST TELL US TO DO TAKE OUT! A couple came in a few minutes after we ate, and they kinda were just rude to them, and I'm surprised they just went with the takeout after the lady just spoke roughly to them. Obviously they know it's New Years Eve! Put a sign out, and let people like us who just came in know that you're gonna close an hour early! I guess the whole time we were eating, they were glaring at us. I was sitting the opposite way but my brother was staring back at them. You don't wanna stare David "YG" down. I don't know what he'll do. I wasn't done with my meal but just got up, and left. I took the cream-puff and just wanted to throw it at the wall or something. I guess since my mom was a cook long ago, I'm more strict on restaurants. But never make your customers feel uncomfortable, gossip around them, and not let them finish. Right after we got up, you could tell they were excited to have us leave. Will just be going to Pasteur's, my main joint.

*CASH ONLY* The brothers have the best broth. I've eaten at this location along with several others in the Seattle area and have never been disappointed. The decor/ambiance is a little shabby but I guess that's why the prices are so cheap. So I'll take bad decor over higher prices any day.

  • Kelly M.

Cash only. Don't forget that because I seem to always do and I end up stopping by Boo Han first. Which I'm not complaining since I like to buy my kimbap there. One of these days, I've got to come eat here when I don't have a hangover. Even so the broth here is very good. It's got enough flavor where you really don't need to tweak (but I still do). I have not ordered a large yet but the small and medium are just fine for me. The medium is sometimes too much for me as well. It's good stuff.

    (4)
  • Michelle P.

Fast, friendly and best of all they have spring rolls now!! I have been here once in awhile and although I normally do not like Pho and my husband tries to get me to go out for this noodle soup at least once a week. I do like their's. This is saying a lot.

  • AlyxandraMonique S.

Great Pho... Horrible service. Although the food gets served quickly, the workers were uncooperative with my peanut reaction that I had here. The woman insisted on having me pay for something I could not eat even though I had specifically asked for NO peanuts.

If you are one of those restaurants that insists on staying in the dark ages and accepting cash only, it is a good idea to have PROMINENT signage informing your customers. On the front door is a must, as well as on the menus. This location only has a small sign behind the cash register that says "cash only." The cash register is tucked away in the back corner of the restaurant and no one would ever notice it until they are going up to pay, at which point it is too late. I pointed out that this one small sign wasn't good enough and the owner rudely replied, "We've been here for 9 years!" As if that irrelevant fact alone is automatically supposed to put customers on notice of their stupid fucking cash only policy. Never coming back. There are way too many pho places in the area that accept credit cards, as well as those that make customers aware of a cash only policy up front and aren't assholes about it. The pho itself was only OK. The massive gobs of cilantro stems didn't help either.

Delicious and cheap cannot be beat. Got take out, had it quick, came with a yummy cream puff. Medium is big enough for at least 3 meals. Everything is fresh and ample. One recommendation would be to label the containers more clearly--we got a vegetarian and meat base but they weren't labeled. Yum!

I love going to pho places. I haven't been here in forever. I'm use to going to bamboo house in Bothell, but it was nice to come back to one of my favorite pho places. I ended up getting a large 14. I've noticed they've raised the prices, but in this economy, the prices have gotta go up at sometime. I got a large #14, which basically had everything in it. I like the everything bowl cause it gives a chance to sample all the meats. I think tendon is one of my favorite things because of the texture. It's not for everyone, but i enjoyed it. I drank about half of the broth. I would drink more of it, but my stomach could not contain that much liquid. One of highlights of Than Bros is the fact that they give you a cream puff with each order. I think that's the highlight. One of the other things that I really like here is their french coffee. It comes with a lot of condensed milk. I ended up getting it cold, which they server with a cup full of ice and in a french press. It's fun just to see the coffee come out, and being able to mix it with the condensed milk at the bottom. I had to add some extra water, but overall a great experience. Be sure to bring cash, cause that's the only thing they accept.

Super freaking FAST which works for me since I usually come in here for pho to-go if I'm a) sick or b) holed up inside on a dreary day with zero motivation to do anything. Who cares if I'm in sweats and my favorite worn out college hoodie, hair disheveled in a messy bun? I am in and out in less than 7 minutes before anyone can even notice (I timed it once...every argument is better with numerical data). I usually get the #9, but I may just have to change that up for to-go orders. I'm not typically the squeamish type and I love a bloody slab of steak, but the raw meat wrapped in saran wrap and thrown in the box with the noodles all willy-nilly like grosses me out a bit. Also, the pho itself is kind of a bitch to put together. You really need to completely separate all the components first before you can begin to combine them to your liking. By the time you get home, the noodles will have become a tightly packed mass and it's a struggle to break them apart. Points for still including the cream puff with to-go orders, though! It sounds like I'm complaining a lot, but despite the little annoyances, Pho Than Brothers is A-OK! Not my go-to dine-in pho place, but still hits the spot when a craving strikes. CASH ONLY

  • Elizabeth C.

The best pho place I have ever been to. a) The soup and noodles and everything are delicious and consistent. b) You can get a huge bowl for like 6 dollars. Perfect. c) Their jalapenos are actually spicy and give my soup a nice kick. d) The cream puffs that come with your noodles. I'm not a cream puff person myself, but if I was I'm sure I would love that part of the pho than brothers. No joke, if I could have pho than brothers every day I would. But I would probably get pretty fat because they're so good I just wouldn't be able to control myself.

Amazing! Also the original Pho in Seattle. I haven't found another place like this that has the chili past and the plum sauce, great when mixed together and dipped with the meat!!

Pho cures anything in my book: colds and flu, heartbreak, fatigue from relentless studying or work (or both), even first date jitters. Than Bros have the pho world by the horns. Immediate seating. Very clean environment. Table cloths!... even though the menu is below the glass laid over the table, which I rather prefer for this level of dining experience. The pho ga (chicken soup) is flavorful and has nice chunks of white meat. No weird connective tissues or other parts here. Yes, it's cash only but is that really a deterrent? Stop at the Safeway (to the south) or the Top Foods (to the north) first and get some cash back with your pack of gum or other. (Isn't there always something you need to pick up anyway?) But seriously. Pho cures all ills. Go have some now. Although there are several of the Than Bros restaurants around the sound, this is my "home" location. Tip well! These folks work their arses off and are always so pleasant and accommodating.

Yum! Great food, good prices, and it comes out fast. The staff are on top of their stuff and I always see them cleaning, which puts me at ease. The only down side is that they do not accept plastic - get w/ the 21st century Pho Than peeps!

Lucky pho!! I used to come here with my mom after interviews and I would get the job afterward! Once I took my friend and then she got a call WHILE WE WERE AT LUNCH for an interview! Ok so my success rate isn't 100% anymore (since these aren't little part-time jobs anymore) but its still pretty good! I come here whenever I need luck. hehe. So the pho has changed a bit over the years. There's more MSG in the broth now unfortunately, but its still good. I also don't like that they use wooden chopsticks. Good luck! hehe

Coming from a person who is 100% Vietnamese, this place is delicious (Tried a lot of places and nothing compares). Service is fast as lightening and the price is cheap. The broth is amazing! They put a lot of noodles and meat..and they don't skimp out on it. Plus, you will get one free cream puff for every order of a pho bowl. REMEMBER TO BRING CASH because its CASH ONLY.

  • Sonya L.

Than Brothers has pretty solid pho, I must say. I had the small veggie pho (which came with tofu and mushrooms) and it was quite delicious. Lots of noodles, lots of tofu, and tasty broth! They also bring you plenty of bean sprouts and thai basil so you can load up on that as well. My bowl was overflowing with all the deliciousness. The place, yes, has a cream puff with your meal as well! It was fairly delicious and a good end to the meal. I've had better cream puffs at Pho Thy Thy in the U District, however... I was a little surprised to find that this place is cash only. I can understand for most small businesses why they have the cash only policy. However, since this place is part of a pretty large chain, it definitely caught me off guard. The service was also a bit weird, as my friend Meghan K. mentioned. They spent most of the meal taking items off of our table and bringing them back later on. I'm assuming that they were working to refill everything, but it was kind of awkward to have them taking things away one by one and bringing them back one by one throughout the entire meal without saying a word. I did enjoy the pho here and I would like to come back. Hopefully the service will be a little less awkward next time. And hopefully I will remember to bring cash!!

Pho Than Brothers was my second pho experience, and it was far better than my first. I ordered the #1 and some peppermint tea. It came out fast and was nice and hot. The flavor was pretty good. Prices seem like they're pretty in line with what other pho places are charging, and the small wasn't so small.

  • Lex L.

My favorite pho place and they pretty much set the standard on quality and speed, with the bonus of cream puffs. The broth tastes consistently good and served hot, with very generous portion of meat. It never takes more than a few minutes from order to having it right in front of you. The fastest time I had was after placing an order and while I was taking out my phone and loading up the facebook app, the guy is already serving the bowl. Crazy. I have tried many pho restaurant around town and this place has the best combo - good food, great price and great speed. Slightly hesitate to give it a 5 stars because the place could be a bit nicer/cleaner. Just saying.

  • Alex T.

Lol how have I never reviewed this place? I go every at least every two weeks or so. It's my standard go to pho place because it's fast, clean, and relatively cheap (though I think they raised prices recently). Be prepared to order when you sit down. #4 large please. Cash only. P.S: This place is WAY cleaner than all their other branches. THAT is why I come here.

For all people who wants to try 'Vietnam Pho or Vietnamese Noodle' Tasty pho with different kinds of beef. Wherever I miss noodle soup I came here. The simple noodle with soup with meat. This is what you guys want. There are four size. I always order "Medium Bowl", and it is a good size for me. (I am a young 16 year old boy). AND DON'T FORGET THEIR CREAM PUFF! even though it seems bad, BUT IT TASTE REALLY GOOD. CASH!!!!! NO CREDIT!!!

I have some great memories of this place. It's definitely my favorite branch of this restaurant I've been to. It is also by far the cleanest and most spacious. Their pho is every bit as delicious as when my high school friends and I first tried it, about 4 years ago. There is no substitute for their cream puffs. No, really. I've tried other places that try to imitate (try being the key word here), and they don't even come close. Beware of your clothes smelling for the rest of the day (and until they are next washed, for that matter). Apparently, it's not a pleasant odor for the people sitting by you during lectures. This place is great for kids. I bring my sister here all the time when my parents give me money to treat her. She loves their chicken pho, and it's so cheap that I can pocket some for myself! Remember to BRING CASH, or you might be outta luck!

  • Stephanie C.

No bueno. I don't know why people like this place. Okay, it may be cheap and they give you a cream puff... but to me, it's not worth it. They don't really provide great service and their broth is just mediocre. Throw in their cash only policy and it just doesn't cut it for me. I don't really appreciate the whole racially profiling thing either; they tend to service you better if you're not of Asian descent. HELLO! I'm a paying customer too. That being said, there are other Vietnamese spots that serve up an AWESOME bowl o' pho and I'm willing to give up a dingy cream puff for that.

This place is disgusting! I don't even want to give them one star but it won't let me post this review. The owner with really bad skin on his face is super RUDE!!! They have the worst customer service and the food taste gross!! Oh yeah there is no cash only sign on the door but apparently they are "cash only" which tell you they are a total fraudulent business by not reporting all of their income to IRS. Go to Seattle Deli next door if you want decent Viet food.

There pho is disgusting! My brother found a FLY in his soup one visit and the guy still made him pay for the pho. My fiancé was sick one day so we went here, (even though I think their pho is too sweet ) the worker there did not pay any attention to us, didn't give us more water after we asked several times, oh and they only accept cash! Losers. Reason? They don't want to pay for a debit/ credit card machine!! Back to my story, as we were leaving my fiancé grabs a napkin to blow his nose and the freakin worker dude was like hey you can't take that napkin! Were like WTF?? We are paying customers, my fiancé took ONE napkin and the little Asian dude says we can't use a napkin? Are u freakin kidding me?? CHEAP BASTARDS! My fiancé and I will NEVER go back there or to any of the new locations they open up. I suggest u do the same unless you want bad service, fly soup, and owners who can't even spare a square of a napkin!!

This place is pho-cking awesome. I've been to this Than Brothers location, and the one by Greenlake, also on Aurora (aka Highway 99). I'd have to say that the Edmonds location is better than the Greenlake one! The pho is delicious. The sizes have the perfect portions with a great price. I usually get the small size for $5, and I'm always full. If I'm hungry enough, I could probably chow down a medium sized bowl, but for me, a small is perfect. As usual, every order comes with the plate of bean sprouts, basil leaves, jalapeno slices and limes, and the cream puff. This location is noticeably cleaner than the Greenlake location. There's a fish tank right when you enter, and there are still mirrors on the wall (I'm telling you, if you sit next to the walls, don't catch yourself looking in the mirrors while slurping up noodles. It's not a pretty sight for anyone). If you're ever up North in the Edmonds area, I suggest stopping by Than Brothers. It's in a little strip mall-ish lot, so it might be a little hard to catch if you're going southbound on Aurora.

By far the best Pho place I have ever been to. Most flavorful and delicious. They are also very speedy with the service and they have ... dun dun dun... CREAM PUFFS!!! YAY. I love this place and everyone who loves Pho should go to Pho Than Brothers!!! You haven't had the best Pho until you have had Pho Than Brothers!

I got the flank and tripe pho and it was awesome. The broth is flavorful with a hint of lime and they supply a nice amount of noodles at the bottom. They provided all the common toppings and sauces as well. The best thing about it was the bowls are large and CHEAP. I think I got the medium or large for only $5-6 dollars. *CASH ONLY*

There was a time when I loved Pho Than Brothers. This was before I started going to a variety of other pho places, and realized that Pho Than doesn't have much to boast about. Than Bros doesn't have customer service. Instead they have someone that takes your order, brings your food, and leaves until you pay. This is especially discouraging since I am always thirsty while eating pho at Than Bros for some reason, and there is never anyone to refill my water. However, my biggest complaint with Pho Than is their soup. This isn't noticable at first, but after drinking a variety of pho soups, you will begin to notice that Pho Than is "soapy". Yes, I said it, "soapy". Now you may think that this is preference alone, well I now challenge you to try other pho places, and try Than Bros. Almost inevitably you will notice the soapiness, as has been the case with everyone else I know that eats at Pho Than. Regardless of the cons, there are still reasons to eat here. Everytime you enter the restaurant, you are greeted with the ever famous line, "PHO HOW MANY?" This alone gives me reason to eat at Pho Than, and preps me for the pho eating experience like no other restaurant can provide. To be honest, I'm not sure if the "PHO" pun is intentional... Comparatively speaking, pound for pound against portions and size, Pho Than is the cheapest pho you will find that isn't from Vietnam. This coupled with the general quality (which isn't terrible), you definitely get your money's worth. And who can ignore Pho Than's most charming feature? Free creme puff. Is Pho Than my favorite pho restaurant? Not anymore, but this doesn't mean it isn't worthy of merit for some of its good qualities. I still eat here every once in awhile, but for those of you who eat at Pho Than exclusively for the free creme puff, I challenge you to try elsewhere for quality soup and service.

you can tell a lot about a pho joint just by lookin at their menu. kinda like going to a steak house and ordering seafood or a chicken wing joint and expecting the best beef burger... pho thanh brothers does just pho. and nothing else. a master of their trade. and that i can respect - as i'll never EVER eat at a pho restaurant that serves teriyaki as well. big open seating area - i've been a few times and never had to wait for a seat. and i love that pho is typically premade (the longer the broth simmers the better tasting) so ur order is typically out within 5 minutes of ordering. and their cream puffs (which is odd to me gets served at the beginning) are to die for! great place!

No matter where i eat pho, this place is always what i compare it to. the broth is amazing, so good. the food is fairly cheap, and comes quickly. also with th cream puff at the end. definitely worth checking out! UPDATE: Pho Le up by capital/first hill is better!!! Now, dont get me wrong, than brothers is still Amazing, and i love it, but this place's broth is soooo good.

the pho is delicious !! worth the hour drive from south seattle. fast services and the ice coffee is very good. By far- this Than brother has the best tasting pho broth. Disappointing that the than brother's in Federal Way doesn't have the same tasty pho- they should share ingredients :) other than an hour drive- i love this place. Whenever we visit family up north- we always make sure we stop in for pho!

We go for lunch or dinner - they're usually pretty busy, but haven't ever had to wait for a table yet. Parking: Easy - shared lot at boohan plaza Ambiance: ambiance? what do you expect from the Asian equivalent to McDonalds? Service: they toss the cream puffs and veggie plate onto your table, you wave your arm to hail a waiter to take your order, food comes minutes later - big plus! you walk up to the counter to pay your bill - long story short - not much service, but hey, you've got to remember it's Asian fast food. Food: Large portions - I get a small and my hubby gets a medium and we still have enough to share with our 6 yr old. The cream puffs which are served as a free appetizer works great for us as a mini dessert. Recommendation: Much healthier alternative to Costco food court or Arbys down the street and only for a couple more bucks. Great if you're feeling under the weather - especially in this weather!

Pho is just pure comfort food, on a rainy day, on a snowy day, on a sunny day. It can be enjoyed on all seasons, maybe that's why it has become so popular across many cultures. To me, it's just a bowl of soup with noodles and meat. Nothing special. But I'm not going to hate on Pho Than Brothers just because I despise Pho. There is one good thing, Pho Than Brothers has a secret weapon that caught me off guard. It is also served on the opening of a meal, their cream puffs. Believe me, luscious cream packed in soft pastry, I'm in Nirvana. Maybe this is the reason I'm cutting them slack. It improves my mood before I taste my Pho, so therefore, a good review spills off my mouth. Oh Pho Than Brothers, what forgery, what bribery you have served to me from the beginning. You smart, sly wolves! No comment on the Pho, but GET THE CREAM PUFFS only!!!!!!!! (I need emphasis, hence, the caps lock and the exclamation marks) If you can, order the cream puffs individually, more than what's complimentary. I solemnly swear they're just so wonderful. It makes me sad that every time we eat, they are only served one per person, sometimes I even try to steal some of my friend's cream puffs. This innocent looking cream puff can jump start World War III. By stealing, I mean looking so sad and desperate that my friends can't help but pity me. I know, why do so much for a cream puff you say? This cream puff is my Klondike Bar. Why do you do so much for a Klondike Bar then? Once, I ordered a full batch of 24 cream puffs to go to munch on at home, you should've seen the look on the aunty's face: "You're not here for pho? Who is this crazy little girl? Did you pick her up, Nam? Just give her, her damn cream puffs." This is my guilty pleasure, my lover, my affair, my comfort food. My everything. Oh the things I would do for you, dear cream puff. You don't even know.

I was a pho addict for a while and ate it almost everyday after work. This is the best place I've been to so far. I don't like salty broth and they strike a good balance between flavor / saltiness.

Sampled many different pho places in San Diego, tried other pho places (Pho Hao in Woodinville, Pho Tu Do in Lynnwood) in Seattle, heard about Than Brothers, went there, read the reviews, and now I write one. Interesting thing is, this place got dissed by several reviewers as a "chain" and "McDonald-esque". So, you can't please all of the people all of the time. You can look at a bowl of pho as a finished product, or you can look at pho as a blank canvas. I fall into the latter category. I thought the pho was excellent, and it's probably to my benefit that I had a chance to try other pho joints before landing here. It was rather hard to find, it's right on the corner of what's primarily a Korean Shopping Center, and if you're going Southbound, you'll fly right by. After being seated, you better be looking at that menu under the glass instead of yapping with your lunch or dinner dates, because they'll be taking your order when your ass hits that seat. Prices are the most reasonable that I've seen in Seattle thus far. Typical condiments are available on the table. Before your dish comes, the sides of bean sprouts, basil, lime, and jalapenos come to the table. Along with this, you'll get a cream puff. Before I could even get to the cream puff, the pho hit the table. I made the mistake of ordering the XL bowl. Ever go to a Chinese restaurant and order Egg Drop Soup? Or go to a Thai joint and order the Tom Yum Gai? Comes in a big soup taurine that can serve four people. Well, that's what the XL bowl looks like, it's ridiculous. Anyway, pho and broth were excellent. A bit heavy on cilantro (big chunks of stem), but I can overlook it and order light cilantro next time. And, no disrespect to the cream puff, it gets a lot of press, and I'm sure it's made with loving care (with a tender backstory of the birth of the restaurant), but I think it's the red herring for the Than Brothers. The pho is really good, its' all they serve!

Was in the area and had a craving for Pho good thing I have all their locations memorized. Same good consistant Soup that I would get in the U- district. And the oh so delicious cream puff.

I love than brothers! They are the original. They have the best pho in town and provide creampuffs. Than brothers also are consisten with their pho, the only that differs is that this location is probably the cleanest location that I've ever been to. I give this place 4 stars just because this location is cash only and I know that some of its other locations accept cards

  • Barry Z.

Ok so I am seriously addicted to PHO and I have hit up quite a few places but there is one that I keep coming back to because it is consistently the best. Tasty broth, fresh veggies and ample amounts of meat for a reasonable price (used to be waaay cheaper before everybody discovered PHO). They know me there and treat me well and always put extra chili oil in my togo. Lady behind counter is cute and very cool!

unbelievable how anybody could give this place more than 1 star. the place is still in there is NO PUBLIC RESTROOM and the servers looks like they just came off the street. please note this is a cash only establishment and they do not accept credit cards.

Than brothers is hands-down the best bowl of pho in this area in my opinion! The prices are great and the soup is simply delicious. They do not have anything else on the menu besides pho, but they have perfected it! I also typically get the iced coffee with condensed milk. They serve it with the coffee steeping above the glass. It is very strong, flavorful coffee. After your meal, you will get complimentary cream filled pastries. Very yummy and the perfect little dessert snack after the fabulous soup. My ONLY complaint is that they don't take credit or debit cards, so make sure you go with cash in hand. Than Bros is a must try if you're a fan of Vietnamese soup!

This is the only Than Brothers location I have ever been to but it's also my absolute favorite Pho spot in all of Seattle. Lightning fast service and friendly staff. My mom and I frequently eat here and love it. Although they do not accept credit cards the price is right and the portions are huge. Love the puff pastries here. Super yummy.

It pains me to only give them 3 stars, so let's pretend it's 3.5 for my sake. I've been a frequent diner at this location for at least two years. The woman who runs the place knows me, what I eat each time I get there, and asks me about school and work (and when I went in today, told me she'd missed me since I relocated to a new job that isn't up the street from this location). I would have written a 5 star review any time prior to this one because I love their pho and loved walking out and smelling like pho for the rest of the day. But today's pho was just.... blah. Something's missing. They changed people in the kitchen, or something but it's just not the same. The broth is off, and there seems to be a lot more cilantro in my soup than previous times I've been. I walked away with a full tummy like always, but I didn't sit at my soup and devour all of their broth like it's delicious candy (which I have been known to do). Than Brothers, I love you but this last visit made me sad. :(

This has been my go to Pho place for years. Its my go to cure for whatever ails me; sick, hungover, or just plain hungry this place always hits the spot. The noodles are always just right. I can be in and out in under 20 min. With something so delicious and convenient, why would anyone ever eat fast food?

    (5)
  • Reuben S.

Good pho and I love the free cream puffs! I'm not sure how but the cilantro they put in has too many stems. At the end of a bite I'm left chewing stems like a cow munchin' on chud. Broth, meat, and noodles are great, just less chud please :-) Oh yea, cash only. I've pulled up and left for the atm several times.

HANDS DOWN my favorite pho restaurant and the best out of all of them around here!!!!! They are quick and the pho is sooooo goood! The broth is bomb everytime. Whenever i want to eat pho, i make sure i come over here. It's not that close to my house but it's so worth it. They remember me everytime, so they always load my condiment plate with a bunch of limes & tons of extra white onions and cilantro in my soup!

Almost always so consistently good that I don't need to ask myself where should I get a nice bowl of pho!

I CANNOT have Pho anywhere else. Perhaps I was spoiled from the start, being introduced to Pho at Than Brothers. But regardless, it's the VERY BEST here. They are quick, clean, nice, and the food is good. Even with their recent raising of prices it's still well worth the money and going out of your way to come here. The Pho is delicious and to top it off you get the best little cream puff you could ask for. Do like I do, eat the one that comes with your Pho right away (mmm, appetizer) and order three more for $1.50 for later. Just typing this review makes my mouth water. Num num num num!

  • Charlotte B.

Best Pho ever. The original addiction starter, only it was the Ballard location that hooked me. After having other Pho, I feel like I can taste the freshness of the ingredients including the meat. The broth has a hint of lime sweetness. The prices are remarkably low too.

Don't order to go....ok, if you do, check your bag first! These pooters keep forgetting (or omitting) my gee-damn sauces and paid-for extra sides of veggies. Oh, and where is my tripe? You knuckleheads are probably laughing maniacally back in the kitchen and throwing it around at each other. Put it in my to-go box next time and quit dicking around! I hate this pho place. It's the one across from the Ranch 99 Market. *joy

Okay - There is every justification in the WORLD right now to raise prices, especially at an establishment that is already renowned for having insanely low prices. I'm not mad that Than Brothers (all locations) raised their prices - I'm just a little surprised that they raised it over a dollar more, why not raise it incrementally so I would barely notice? What used to be $3.85 small bowl of pho is now $4.95 - reasonable, but quite the difference. That's my only gripe though - still same great broth, sizable portions of meat and noodles, not to mention the infamous included cream puff, and of course prompt service. If only they would refill my water...

The best joint for PHO! The staffs are SUPER NICE! Great service and good food! Gotta try this place out! You won't get disappointed!

  • Jeff F.

Everyone gets a complimentary cream-puff... As Bruce Willis said in Die Hard, "Yippie kay yay mofo." THE FOOD = GOOD PHO * It's pretty hard to mess up pho. In my experiences at Than Bros, the ratio of goodies (meatballs, tripe, etc) to noodles was decent, the portions were good, and everything was at the right temperature (no out of the fridge clumped noodles). * There's an extra large size that is humungo. * The French Style coffee with condensed milk is very tasty, and a great partner to puffs of cream. THE SERVICE = DECENT * I've always visited when the restaurant is packed, and the staff kept up with demands just fine. THE ENVIRONMENT * It's a pho joint, so don't expect much... I have been impressed on how clean it is kept, considering how crazy busy it gets. It's pho... there's not much to it people... and like a ton of other restaurants, Than Bros didn't mess it up. I have been there several times, and it has been consistent quality; and they have always given free cream puffs (so +1 star).

    (4)
  • Rossana Y.

After coming here again, I noticed that this place has been going down along with the recession. The service was really bad this time (was it ever not bad?) My friend probably asked at least 5 times for extra lime until she got pretty irritated. I think it took 10 minutes for them to finally give her some. For some reason the broth had this really weird flavor...like the meat turned bad and it was made into a broth. Eck. The fact that they keep raising the prices don't help much either. Even the free cream puff can't justify the crappy pho that I just ate. I don't like this place anymore...

  • Cherene R.

I have always been a fan of the Than Brothers' chain of restaurants since I first tried it in U-District. I always ordered a small #2 every time I've gone here - so much that I have already forgotten what they actually put in it. Also, just recently, I just started asking for extra meatball, too. Since my years in college, the prices for their bowls have gone up a little bit, but it still beats any pho restaurant in quality and quantity. Portions are huge. The taste is just as good as the smell of it. Ah, and by the way, I caution that if you eat in here, you will definitely walk out smelling like your lunch/dinner. But, how do you beat a place like this?!? The one thing that irks me about this one location in particular is that while you're eating, the employees will literally switch out your napkin holders or sauces like three or four times (even though the containers aren't even empty). I don't know why or what they're doing it for, but it was a minor disturbance. The Edmonds location seems to be the only place that does that. For that, I would just give this one location four stars, but this review is actually for all their restaurants, in general. I've been to the U-District, Edmonds, and Redmond location and the taste and portions have been consistent. This is definitely the best place anyone can get a decent bowl of pho. And don't forget the little cream puff you get, too!

  • Tony Y.

I have been a fan of the uw location since I frequented the place many many times between classes, and while skipping classes. Since this is a little chain, I assumed this place would have the same tastes....and of course it does. I drove by this location many times since moving up North and finally gave it a try tonight. We both got some #9 pho with flank, rare and brisket beef I believe. Prices are good and portions are plentiful. The broth is great, it comes with loads of meat and the service is super quick. The creme puffs were killer as usual, and we got 6 more to go, and like the pigs we were, we ate all of them on the drive home, yum yum. Remeber, cash only or you will have to bus tables for a couple hours to repay them.

  • A B.

Was a bit disappointed when coming here as it was a rainy day and I need my pho fix. To go order was very sloppy when being put together. Broth was flavorless and I was left very unsatisfied. Two thumbs down.

  • Nicole M.

I never came out of this place with someone who didn't want to go back here soon. Quick service - love their pho! On cold nights, it's so good to get their pho, with a warm honey tea. Their custard puffs are good too, we always get them to go :) The only thing I don't like about this place is the cash-only policy. One time I forgot about this, and ended up j-walking across the street to the gas station for the atm. Brought friends and family from out of town, of all places they miss Pho Than Brothers the most - no kidding. Don't expect 'warm' and 'friendly' waiter though, they get things done very quickly but don't really bother to throw a quick smile at you. When our foods arrived and we thanked the waiter, he just muttered a quick and awkward-but-funny "ehh" which made us crack up.

    (5)
  • Antonio R.

I really don't like pho, but my cousin loves pho, so he made me eat here with him. We both got the XL large bowl with extra meat. It was less than $19 for the both of us and it was a lot of food. The food came out real fast and we got cream puffs, so that was different and cool. The broth had some kick to it and it cleared my sinuses, so I guess that's a good thing, right? Honestly, this was only my second time in a pho restaurant and my first time in a pho restaurant, I couldn't figure out what kind of meat I was eating, so I don't really have much to compare this place with other pho places, so I'll give it 3 stars.

    (3)
  • Chris B.

Today was my first time ever having pho, and I'll definitely be coming back. We went for lunch and I got a large bowl -- wasn't exactly expecting a bowl of broth larger than my head, but I managed to get all the goodies inside of the amazing tasting broth. The service wasn't anything to write home about (or Yelp happy things about, either), nor was the decor, but I thoroughly enjoyed the food. I might be wrong, but food is generally why we all head to restaurants in the first place, so 4 stars it is for great food!

    (4)
  • Ken H.

My wife and I have been to a lot of Pho restaurants and we both agreed this place has the BEST broth and meat. The service was fast and friendly. The ambiance is pretty typical of most pho places... nothing fancy but our daughter loved staring at the aquarium :)

    (5)
  • Cruz O.

Ok guys, next time I go, the broth better be hot enough to heat that meat. I'm glad I got the number 2 so I got round AND brisket. If it happens next time I'll go ahead and drive farther for it.

We eat here several times a month. It's that good! My boyfriend refuses to eat Pho anywhere else! The service used to suck when the owner's husband use to manage the front, but since over a year ago, we haven't seen him once. Now the service is better not to mention it's always been super fast. You walk in, sit down and order, not even 5 Min's later you have your meal. It's the cheapest Pho place we've ever been at 4.95 for a small. Can't beat that! Noodles seems like they are made in house and it's way better than other places we've gone where the noodles are all swollen and gross. Only thing I wish they had were fresh rolls because I love them and I can't make my boyfriend go anywhere else just so I can have my fresh rolls. =(

This is a great pho place if you are a pho lover, if you are not then it is not the vietnamese restuarant for you as they only serve pho (and cream puffs, free with meal). Strangely cream puffs often come before the pho, but it can be a nice appetizer if you are starving in the 5 minutes it takes them to bring you your pho. Variety of types of pho, including vegetarian, comes with the usual pho supplies. Can be crowded and not the best place to meet a friend who is often late as you can end up feeling pressured to get your pho and start eating. It does taste good though and the price can't be beat, less than 8$ for an x-large.

  • Kevin N.

This is place is like home. When all else fails we know we can drop in with empty stomachs and walk away feeling full and forget about any troubles. I've tried a couple other Pho locations, but I have not found one that tops Than Brothers in Edmonds. The price is amazing, even after raising it over the past couple of years. I prefer not to have cilantro in mine because it can just plain get overwhelming at times. They have free cream puffs, but if the one they provide you with isn't enough (who can blame you), you can order more for cheap. It's important to note that they only accept cash. Whether it's for lunch or dinner, I know what I'm going to get, and I know that it's going to be good every time. What more can a person ask for.

The restaurant deserves no stars .The worst service I ever had in my life. The waiter didn't ask if we finished, he just started to clean up our table and lead people on waiting line to our table to sit. He told the those people to tell us to leave so they can sit at our table. And the waiter took our tips on the table.

After experiencing the San Diego Pho places....I HAD always thought w/a bowl of pho came a sample of scrumptious cream puffs...hello. I was wrong by all counts. The owner is cranky - I've seen him patronize customers wondering how long they plan on sitting there talking...having frequented this place like 3 times a week me and a couple of my friends were ever so welcomed, although we didnt feel that way at the beginning.

So my love and I are both under the weather. Yuck! What better way to cure your sickness away then a big steaming bowl of pho?Even the menu has something to that effect. The Pho was good, and hot, but needed a bit more soup. I felt inclined enough to go back to the kitchen and ladle in some more soup like at mom's, but didn't. Hehe. We got the #14 filled with all the goodies. The place was CROWDED when we were there. Service was brisk, fast, but friendly. Prices were good.No need for seat warmers, because people come and go enough to keep the seats warm. The MSG wasn't too bad, I judge by my tummy, and she was ok but a bit rumbly. The cream puffs, were decent, but then again I am bias, not like my mom's! The lemon drink, meh....tasted artificial. Will not order that here again. As others have said...CASH ONLY, leave the plastic at home. Will I be back.....sure you got it. And for the idiot at the next table who looked over after I left, yes I did tip, but left the tip in the jar at the register. Now snicker that!

Although you are all right that their service stinks, this is not the type of restaurant where you should expect good service. I love Than Brothers (all locations) not for their service, but for their cheap price, free cream puffs, and the taste of their pho. There's something about their broth that makes Than Bros my fave pho place and to top it off I don't even have to spend that much. And even though I come out with my clothes soaked in the smell of pho, I still keep comin' back for more!

Pho Tour 2008 took a turn for the worse at Pho Than Brothers in Edmonds. I'm not sure if it was because I was feeling down in the dumps from finding out that I was about to be fired, or if the Pho actually WAS just that terrible. It was nice to be able to shove a free pastry puff in my facehole before the Pho arrived, but AFTER the Pho arrived and I attempted to shove that in my facehole too, it just tasted bland and boring, and it was basically just noodles and meat - hardly any cilantro or green and white onions. The broth left much to be desired, and the meat was rubbery and tough and quite tasteless too. Since then, I only made the mistake once more to step into a Pho Than Brother's restaurant.

  • Curtis L.

Refer to my other review about the Everett Than Bros with the following comparisons. Service was less that par due to how busy they were. Soup was not as clear and flavorful. Cream puff was dry and tasted almost day old. Otherwise the rest was about the same.

Ugh. I adore pho, and got a chicken pho to go the other day. Was there a sub working in the kitchen? I'm not at all a picky eater, but I couldn't eat this soup. Threw it out.

This place has really good pho and their bowl sizes are really big. The downside to this is that it is cash only so make sure you have cash with you.

The creme puffs is like the best part. Everyone praise about their pho, but I can find anything particular "special" of Than Bro's offering. One thing for sure is that the pho at Than Bro can be "hotter". Service here is definitely not existence, but generally this place is clean as long as you avoid the ice water. Around this area, not much of a choice; Than Bro definitely fill the Pho niche here.

This place knows how to package up takeout. Seriously, it's the best pho-to-go experience of any place I've been. I originally stayed away from this place as I like to patronize "mom 'n pop" type establishments. But if I'm craving pho, I want an incredible experience. The pluses of this Than Bros.: -the broth is piping hot -the broth is awesome and so good I don't need to make additions -the meat is plentiful and good, sliced thin -the noodles are just like I like them to be, all the time -the veggies are fresh -they only serve pho so they're good at it -conveniently located across the street from an Asian market -close enough that I can get home and the piping hot is still darn hot (thanks in part to my handy-dandy, insulated and zippered Trader Joe bag) Minuses (updated 04/07/2010): Each time I eat here I get a massively painful MSG headache that lasts all evening. I don't get this elsewhere. The broth here is very, very flavorful, so I'm beginning to think it's MSG-enhanced. I'm going to deduct one star for this. From 4 to 3.

So, I was driving home from work yesterday afternoon on I-5 Northbound. At about the MLT exit, a police cruiser shot by me going about 100 mile an hour. then traffic slowed. I was rushing up north because i wanted lunch close to my house. I didnt want to wait in the impending traffic, so i got off the freeway and headed down the hill to edmonds. I have heard alot abot Than Bros Pho, and i am a newly addicted Pho lover, so i figured, i had my last 7 bucks on me, and i wanted a bowl of that deliciousness that fills you with warmth and flavor but never makes you feel lethargic. So, i went to the strip-mall next to the Boo-Han and stepped into Than Bros. I was seated immediately, and after glancing the menu, a server came over immediately and brought my pho accoutrements, and a little dough ball thingie (so this is the famed creampuff??? looks kind of like a cute little turd-shaped bun). He asked if i was ready, and i ordered a medium #3 (flank and round) Beef pho. The service here was lightening fast, but its nothing to write home about, all they do is pho, which the ingredients cook in the soup. I was surprised when i got my pho, that the noodles were a little more cooked than other pho places ive tried. I was expecting to have to wait a few minutes to dive my face into it, but it seemed "ready to go". Temperature wise, i would have liked the broth a little hotter, but im one of those people that like my soups scalding hot and my drinks ice cold. I call myself a "Gastronomic Extremist". I took a sip of the broth first, and this was the most dissapointing thing to me. I was expected to be lost in the sea of star anise and cinnamon-y spices that a traditional beef pho contains. This pho had very little spice flavor to it, and even on sodium content, it was rather lack-luster. Then, i understood. This is the McDonalds of Pho restaurants. It is an Americanized Pho restaurant. Ohhhhh.... I am now enlightened, and add a healthy dose of hoisin to the broth, which made it a lot better. I enjoyed the pho, i would have liked a little more noodle, so next time ill order extra. For a quick lunch and not having to sit in traffic, this Than Bros. deserves 4 stars, I cannot bring myself to make it 5, because it tasted like "Pho" but not like PHO. This would be a great place to bring a Pho virgin to, for their first introduction to the dish. For 5.19 with tax, it was the best affordable lunch ive had in a while. I have a deep appriciation for businesses that keep their overhead low so us cheap eaters can afford to keep coming back. P.S. The little cream puff "turd" was the perfect end to the meal, now that i know they taste so good, i might not be able to save mine till after the Pho next time!!!

I usually do take out. Its super fast and way cheaper than dining in. I asked for a second pair of chopsticks and the guy charged me 25 cents!

Wow, I started off explaining just why I had rated it 5 stars and it was reading just like Matt R's review, haha... But seriously, it's just another Than Brothers, right? Yeah, it is. They're good, just like the others are good. Same menu, same routine. But this one is quite clean! I mean, compared to say, the U-Dist. one or the one on Aurora next to the Seattle Kung Fu Club, it's REALLY clean! I eat at all of them regardless, but it's easier to bring skeptics in here than the one down further south on 99/Aurora. It's in a newer strip mall, anyways, so the facility is newer, next to Boohan Market. The pho is great as it is at pretty much most of them, though if you have it and the onions and stuff still seem VERY fresh, it might be a fresh batch, which might not seem as flavorful. The cream puffs are delectable treats that are just as hard to set aside for dessert as they are at each of them. It's also just down the street, less than a mile from my house, so that's the biggest plus of all! There's a couple other pho places relatively closeby. There's the one at Five Corners and the one practically across the street in the 99 Ranch complex, but I def prefer this over both of those! Price is great, location is great for me, atmosphere is much cleaner-seeming than other Than Brothers (though the Everett one was also quite clean, the one time I went there), and they're always friendly enough. Like is their MO, bring cash!

This is the best Than Bros restaurant I've been to (been to 4 of them.) Very clean and really excellent service.

Chain restaurants either mean they do really well, get a lot of business to spread their seeds of growth, because if you notice,Than Brothers are all over the Seattle area. But sometimes, these chainy restaurants also lose their pizzazz of small business owned goodness....and it's all lacking in the broth & cuts of meat in their pho. Despite that, it's still authentic but for my liking, tastes too mass produced which lacks authenticity. The service is straight up: sit down, eat, pay, leave. Prompt & friendly, it has always been "cash only". They do have the best french cream pastry puffs around town, and you can also buy a few extras for just a few extra bucks. Pretty hard to resist. I would've originally given 3 stars but for the complimentary cream puff they give you, I had to throw in an extra star in all fairness! I always try to save the puff for "after" my noodles but I can't help but gobble it up in seconds, especially when it's looking at me...the agony!

Great Service although the employees don't talk much. Portions generous compared to the price. LOVE LOVE LOVE the cream puffs! Big fan. Lots of meat for me! WE ordered 2 extra larges and a order of shrimp rolls. Very good rolls and dipping sauce. Cons are that they charged us extra(said we ordered extra something...maybe the bowl we requested??didn't wanna argue with them though so just left less tip), they don't give enough beansprouts and they charge extra for takeout...although we ate in :)

They put too much MSG in the soup. It made me sick. I usually eat pho at the other Than bro's located on the Ave next to UW. There's has msg as well, but it tastes better. It's a chain but it tastes slightly different.

i use to love this place due to the sheer volume of food you could get for a small amount of money, BUT prices were raised which was okay until a friend and i were going out to eat here and the only two seat open were two seats at a 4 top...next to two other people. we said we would wait for something to open up and he insisted that we sat next to the two people they were extremely rude to us on multiple accounts including one where they basically took out food from in front of us and told us we were done and asked us to get up and leave so more people could sit down. a friend of mine recently found a toothpick in his soup as well go up the street to pho 99 or down the street to pho hua this place is horrible

I try new Pho places all the time. But Than Bros in Edmonds is the most disgusting so far. Found a DEAD FLY at the bottom of my bowl. . My brother joked that it was not just me who "enjoyed" the fly in the soup but all of the rest of the customers that day because that fly must have been boiling in one big pot used for the day's soup. I took a peek in the kitchen, eeew, dirty! Lady owner did not acknowledge or apologize. Never stood up to check. The lady owner's attention was just fixed on counting the cash behind the counter. And the rest of the staff were clearing and cleaning tables without washing their hands. I can tolerate non english speaking servers but if they are rude and untidy, too, its not acceptable. Unsanitary food handling, poor customer service, uncaring owner. Will never go back.

This restaurant has got to have the worst service I have ever had in my life! We went to Thanh Brothers in Lynnwood on Fathers Day - when we arrived, we asked to be seated by the fish tank becuase my son wanted to sit by the fish...we were immediately rejected and told to sit elsewhere...even though the restaurant was nearly empty! Then my son opened two packages of chopsticks - when a worker saw him - he reached over onto our table and REMOVED THE UTENCIL HOLDER even before my husband and I got our spoons! RUDE! For one, those chopsticks cost 1 cent each and it costs 3 cents to make pho! So I approached the counter and asked to pay. The lady was nice, but to owner approached and asked what was wrong and I said i thought it was rude that they took the utencil holder away over two chopsticks - and you know what he said - THOSE CHOPSTICKS ARE NOT RECYCLABLE, WE THROW AWAY AND HE ALREADY OPEN MANY! OMG - are you seriously having a cow over two chopsticks! So I am officially boycotting all Thanh Brother restauants - they are NOT kid friendly, they are rude and penny pinchers!

I had just got done talking to my fisherman buddy who had just got back from Alaska, he was bragging about after being out to sea for 4 months that he needed something cheap, quick and easy. .......so off to highway 99 we went. We drove for a while and saw a newer strip mall and decided to get out and walk around. I too now was in the mood for something quick, cheap and easy that would satisfy me and yet would be good enough to introduce to my mother. It was cold out and I was yearning hot and spicey when I noticed a cute Asian gal. I made contact with her and she took my money and within 30 minutes I was the most satisfied guy in Edmonds. I felt guilty but my needs and desires were full filled.........Yes I had some of the best damn Pho in the Seattle area. The broth arrived in less then 3 minutes and I did feel guilty about paying such a low fee for such a hearty meal........and Yes I did take some to my Mom, she lives 8 blocks away. This place is clean, always busy and very quick. I think it's some of the best Pho I have had in the Seattle area. Parking can be tight, but it's worth the effort.

My favorite pho restaurant is Pho Thanh Brother, but the problem is. I don't really like their customer service. They have an attitude, seriously. I don't like putting cilantro and onions in my noodle, I like it in the side. And few times, they messed the order and gave me with cilantro and onion. And I said it nicely if I can get another one. I know I should have taken out, but I hate the taste of cilantro and onion inside my soup. Not being picky at all, I get sick afterwards, that's why. And the manager got mad at me, he made one of the cooker spit on my food................................................ At first, I was thinking to myself, should I stop going here? But I can't stop going there because their pho is so cheap! And I love how they give those little bread, which I forgot the name again -0-;; Croutons? I wish they hired someone with good speaking English. It annoys me when new Vietnamese people get hired and they don't even know how to understand English, it's freaking annoying. Because it makes it look like I did something wrong, when it was their fault! They don't even admit that it's their fault, they kept blaming it on me because I know some Vietnamese words, and I heard they call me a pig LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I laughed so hard. "Heo" means pig. "that girl is heo" I heard it all XDDD

I've been to Than Brothers since I was a kid. However, after my visit I am NEVER going to Than Brothers again. We barely even sit down and the waiter rushes us for our order. We politely tell him that we'll need a few minutes. Two seconds later, another waiter arrives and asks for our order. Again, we say the same thing. 30 seconds later, the first water comes back! Some of us finally say something to appease the waiter while another person said he'd need more time still. During our meal, the waiters never came to refill our water glasses even though we had asked numerous times. AND to make it WORSE, once we had finished our food and finally received our water, we sat around for maybe 4 minutes to drink our water leisurely when the waiter comes to us and says can you go? LIKE REALLY??? You just gave us the CRAPPIEST service we've ever had in our lives and then you tell us that we need to go pay and leave because you're so "BUSY" that you want to give the table to the next customers who haven't even waited that long?? NEVER AGAIN. Unfortunately, they've lost what could've been a lifelong customer because their food and prices are decent.

Than Brothers is great. Fast service, good food, and a no-frills menu (Pho, cream pastries, and beverages -- that's it). They're a local chain but the Edmonds location is in particular very good. Always clean, always professional. Big thumbs up.

We love this no-nonsense place ! Cash only, dessert and condiments set up front, fast service and the pho is healthy, fresh and satisfying without getting stuffed. Perfect in all kinds of weather and especially at that first inkling of an encroaching sore throat. Restraint is required to not eat the cream puffs before the pho arrives.

Pho Than is now the stuff of Seattle area legend. Cash only. Reasonable prices, Very quick service. Fabulous pho well prepared with damn good cream puff as a dessert included. Really, is there anything else you need to know? OK, FINE - they have a fish tank!

2 Stars for being fast. When I don't have much time I will go there with out a second thought. I usually order the Veggie pho and tell the guy that when I sit down. Literally in about 1 or 2 minutes the order comes out of the kitchen. Another Star for being filling the portions are sufficient not too small for me. And another star for being reasonably priced. I do wish they had more variety. Like seafood Pho and spring rolls.

I know what your thinking. Yup, I'm psychic. "Than Brothers? The Pho chain? 5 stars?" Yes. Not just yes, hell yes. You got a problem with that you can take it up with management. Edmonds has a lot of Pho places within 5-10 minute driving distance from my place so this location somehow eluded me. Well, now it's on my radar and I don't reckon any Pho in Seattle will challenge it anytime soon. I stuck with my usual - tendon and brisket. After being seated it came out three minutes later, tops. Great meat and veggies. The broth was piping hot and spicy and is the best tasting broth I've encountered in any Pho joint so far. Pop in a couple jalapenos and I'm on cloud nine. Yes, that's right, I found cloud nine level Pho at Than Brothers in Edmonds.

By Odin's balls, I love this place. Fast, easy, cheap, delicious, satisfying. Don't like the cash only policy? Then you probably don't have 5 dollars in your pocket. Best enjoyed with a pho buddy.

The pho tai arrived at my table mere seconds after ordering from a kitchen that sounded of sneezes. The broth was mediocre, having barely any richness and no fragrance, the rice noodles were tough, the round eye was not medium rare as advertised, but a well done grey. Who knows how long ago the onions were sliced since they lacked any bite of freshness. As for the plate of garnishes: bruised basil with traces of fridge slime, a skimpy serving of just two jalapeno slices, a heaping pile of sprouts, and the lime wedge was shockingly acceptable. What followed minutes later was the "fresh lemonade". Truth in menu laws, anyone? They served it with a spoon, so that the diner may stir in the noxious crystals of citric acid and artificial sweeteners that lurked at the bottom of the murky glass. So I drank the ice water (the best part of the meal) and accepted that I would pay the buck and change for the half of a cent worth of powdered drink mix that I would not ingest, because there is no explaining how one doesn't want to pay for crap in a glass to a pubescent non-english speaking boy who can barely count change at the register. Nasty. And the napkin dispensers were so overstuffed I had to manhandle the fingerprinted silver box to wrestle out a few ripped up shreds of paper. What a hole.

My favorite place to have Pho besides home. I love how they give us creampuffs before Pho. The prices are decent and the portions are good. They only take CASH ONLY! The service is quick and they keep the place clean. The only bad part is that you come out of the place smelling like Pho all day. Besides that everything about the place is great.

Best place for pho in the area. I frequent this location, as well as the one near Greenlake. It's not fancy by any means, but they consistently have the best pho in the area. They are always ok with modifications too. Even without the cream puffs (which are awesome) they are the best. Priced about average and service is ok - right on par with other places. But in the end, it's all about the food, and theirs is the best. Also -- they sell the cream puffs separately, and pretty inexpensively, which make for a great treat when you need to bring single serving desserts in a hurry (great for classroom parties, kids' sports team snacks, etc)

I used to live in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood and I remember well when Than Bros. moved into their digs on Broadway. After my very first meal there, I became a devotee. I ate there at least once every weekend and sometimes after work during the week for dinner if I didn't feel like cooking. So after I decided to take the plunge into suburbia, I was delighted when I discovered that there's a Than Bros. here with soup just exactly the same as what I was used to in my old stomping grounds. Than Bros. business model seems very clear to me and I'd like to outline it for readers who may be unfamiliar with this local chain. Essentially, Than Bros. offers the most unlikely, desirable products imaginable -- a serving of food that is: 1. Colossal 2. Satisfying 3. Healthy 4. Cheap. To enable them to offer such an incredible combination of attributes, they expect the following of you: 1. Cash only 2. Come in, chow down, and leave. If you like only having to pay five bucks for basically a vat of delicious homemade soup, then you have to understand that part of your payment is not being able to linger around hogging a table that could be seating other hungry (and paying) guests. In order to offer this kind of insanely affordable pricing, they need to be able to turn the tables fast. I'm happy to oblige them! I'm also delighted to pay cash only. Beyond salt and pepper, condiments are the ubiquitous Sri Racha brand of hot sauce, hoisin sauce, soy sauce, and a smoky amendment that seems to be hot pepper flakes in oil. I believe fish sauce is available upon request. You're given a cream puff ("bahn choux") at the start of your meal, usually served up with the plate of bean sprouts, lime wedges, and jalapeno slices that you'll use to amend your soup to taste. The facilities have always been very clean any time I've eaten here. Service is friendly and quite swift. Don't be surprised if your waiter asks if you know what you want the minute you sit down. (Remember, part of the deal here is that they need to be able to turn tables fast.) They're not being rude, they're just asking. For many patrons, like me, I have a regular dish and can tell them right off the bat I want the "Number 3." Within five minutes, it's on the table in front of me. Not long after, I'm out the door, decisively sated. A very easy four stars.
