Have you ever walked into a restaurant, looked around and suddenly had an uneasy feeling because you're the youngest in the room by at least 30 years? Yep, that's exactly what I felt like going to the Pancake Haus. I really should have taken that as an omen of what was to come. The food is pretty blah. My husband ordered hashbrowns and a swiss omlet and I ordered the pineapple stuffed pancakes. Both were a huge disappointment. The hashbrowns were flavorless and tasted like they came out of a package. The omlet was also without seasoning. Just a big lump of egg. The pineapple "stuffed" pancakes were just as pointless. Nothing about the pancakes were "stuffed", just some canned pineapple thrown into the batter. They also put on a mondo heap of whipcream on the top of the pancakes, which completely smothered them and created a flavorless heap of sugar. I really wasn't expecting a gourmet breakfast, but this was way worse than I thought it would be. Even Denny's gets it better than this, and that's saying a lot of Denny's. I'd also like to point out that it annoys me when restaurants don't take the time to clean food crap off their walls. How hard is it to take a moment, sit where a customer would and look around the room. Ick... food everywhere.

One of the best breakfast places! I tried this place on a whim with a coworker, we were craving pancakes. I have been back multiple times and everything we've had is amazing. Must try, the Swedish pancakes!

Solid breakfast and kids love the food. Staff friendly and place is always busy. Sign of a good established business in a great little town. Stop my on the way to the ferry!

Yummy pancakes! Nothing fancy but that is perfect for a lazy Saturday morning. A nice variety of pancakes including German, buckwheat, corn, sourdough, Swedish, crepes, and stuffed varieties including coconut, Hawaiian and Olympic blueberry. The best part? The whip cream is homemade!! Nice staff and quick service.

Large variety of menu options including some unique items you won't find at other breakfast places. I was really impressed by my last visit to the Pancake Haus. We must have arrived at the perfect time because it wasn't busy or crowded. Service was fast and attentive. My ham and cheese omelette was good and my shredded potato hashbrowns were excellent.

My wife and I LOVE the Pancake Haus! We eat there frequently. Even on busy days where the line to sit down extends out the door, we've never waited more than 15 minutes to get a table. Service is friendly and quick, the food is delicious and their coffee is fantastic! And after a delicious meal, the bill is the best part! The prices are amazing so we can afford to eat here more often. I highly recommend this breakfast joint!

Great place for breakfast or brunch. We went in for some pancakes and ended up eating a lot of omelettes as well. Maybe our timing was bad but refills seemed a bit slow that day and it wasn't incredibly busy. Would definitely try again!

Went to Pancake Haus for a pre-Valentines Day carb fest on a day off. After reading through some reviews on Yelp, decided to dive in with my wife. Arrived to a subdued and sparsely populated dining room (score I don't need the crowds). Seated ourselves per sign We were greeted by one of the waiters within 1 minute asking if we needed anything to drink (aka coffee) and handing us our menus. My wife ordered coffee, I shied from the coffee as I don't trust diner coffee (Burnt Farmer's Brother is never on the menu for me). I ordered 3 pancakes and scrambled eggs w/ minced ham. My wife ordered 4 pancakes, OE eggs and 4 slices bacon. Changed my tune on the coffee after tasting my wife's coffee and ordered my own. Score another one here -- They brew their (cheap) coffee right. Received our meals within 6 minutes after ordering. * Eggs cooked perfectly * Pancakes light, fluffy and delicious * Bacon cooked to perfection (my wife even split the bacon with me) Mission accomplished...delicious food delivered fast and everything for $21 out the door. Would definitely recommend Pancake Haus for a mid-week breakfast. Always good to avoid the weekend crowds :-).

Food is just ok and the waitress literally stacked my plates on top of one another so one of my plates was smashing and sitting on top of my scrambled eggs while carrying them - not sure why she didn't use a tray if she couldn't stack on her arms properly. Also there really isn't a waiting area and they are usually pretty busy on weekends.

Went in for a quick Breakfast and I did get that. However the food quality was a bit sketchy not bad but I've had better. Would I stop in again I think not.

My ol lady came to this place when she was a sprite back in the eighties when the was a pancake haus in the gate of nord. I'm all about breakfast, so we made the trek to edmonds to eat here. The pancake selection is expansive!! Service: super quick and very friendly...made me feel like i was part of the pancake haus family. My ol lady ordered an omlette. She said it was cooked perfect and tasted delicious. I ordered the bacon and eggs w a coconut pancake on the side. The eggs were cooked perfectly, the bacon was crisy. The pancake was like hitting a meth pipe for the first time(i imagine) especially with the pineapple syrup. We'll be back with friends and family!

If this place was as good at refilling your coffee when you've only had a few sips as they are at bringing your food in a timely manner I would have given four stars. The food is okay. It isn't especially good or bad. It isn't good enough to go out of your way to get. Breakfast food can pretty easily be great. It just needs to be fresh. My cinnamon roll seemed like it was sitting for a while when I received it. My eggs weren't really warm. My biggest complaint was the time though. 30 minutes from the time I ordered until I got my food. That's too long anywhere, but especially for a breakfast order. I might go back again, but not by choice.

I have no connection to this place. I'm not a regular customer, not a customer that went there when I was a kid or anything else. I came in off the street knowing only the name on the sign above the place. The first thing you notice is the cattle chute that you get herded down to the podium and "Please wait to be seated" sign. there's a young girl working that podium that is probably a relative of the owners. Same with another young girl in there. I get seated in a booth that puts your belly right up to the table and I'm not fat. My next vision is of flatware that has some kind of film on it. I'm wondering what the hell this is? is the flatware well past it's useful life? I scratched at it and rubbed it with a dry napkin but no luck. That film was there to stay. I perused the menu looking to see what this Pancake Haus has to offer for pancakes. Nothing really struck me as worth a plunge into. What was I expecting? A favorite of mine from The Mission in San Diego is Blackberry/Banana pancakes with a Blackberry compote. Pretty much the same with the Adams Avenue Grill in San Diego. Fantastic! This place didn't come close. Nothing really struck my fancy and the descriptions of the pancakes always included a lot of whipped cream. IMO you shouldn't need to bury your food in whipped cream. So pancakes looked to be off the list and I looked to the omelettes. I noticed that at the bottom of the omelette sections there was a list of add-ons, for a price. I asked if the Dungeness Crab and Cheese omelette only has those two items in it. Yes, was the answer. Really? No hollandaise sauce on top. I guess not. Only crab and cheese. Humpf! Guess I won't be having that either. I really didn't want anything anyhow that I was going to have to put in my mouth with that flatware with the film on it. I went the safe route and ordered a Reuben. That should be a safe bet. While I was waiting on the Reuben I was still obsessed with the flatware. How could anyone put this on a table and not notice that? Maybe they just don't care or are totally jaded to it. I put some water on the napkin and proceeded to work on it again. Success. the film comes off. It's probably from using hard water to wash the flatware. Still doesn't excuse it being there. I did notice what appeared to be the owners cruising around and chatting with the regulars. I waited for him to stop by my table and ask how things were. No chance. Ok, so now I'm just waiting for my sandwich. It came out piping hot so I let it sit a bit. I've eaten more than one or two Reubens in my day but never one with as much sauerkraut as this one did. It dominated the sandwich. There was some corned beef in there because I could see it but i sure couldn't taste it because of all the sauerkraut. Fortunately, this meal finally came to an end. My personalityless waitress made her way to my table and asked if that was all. Oh you bet it was. Would I come back here? NO. Would I come back if I lived in the area? NO. Would I recommend it to anyone? Maybe someone I didn't like too much or someone that that liked "down home cookin'" other than that NO. there did seem to be plenty of other folks in there happily grazing away so maybe it's just me but judging from some of the other reviews I don't think so.

Back in the day (20 or so years ago), when there was a Pancake Haus up by Northgate, my then-beau and I were frequent visitors. So, when life found me in Edmonds and needing breakfast one recent day, I got all nostalgic and decided to eat at the Pancake Haus there. Sadly, it was not quite the sentimental trip down memory lane I had sought. We arrived to find a bit of a line. But, that is to be expected at a breakfast place at 10:30 AM on a Saturday. We waited about 15 minutes or so and were led to a cozy booth. A bit too cozy, actually. It was tight for me, and my husband, who has a bit more heft on him, was downright uncomfortable. We asked to be moved and this request was immediately accommodated. The hostess said, "I keep forgetting how cramped that booth is." And, then, quickly (and diplomatically) added, "And that has nothing to do with you; it is the booth." We were re-seated in another booth that offered a lot more space and we began the task of perusing the menu. A very friendly waitress came over and took our order. Drinks were quickly brought. And we began the task of waiting for our food. And we waited. And we waited. And we waited some more. I honestly don't know exactly how long we waited, but I do know another couple came and were seated at the booth we had abandoned. They ordered, were served, and had finished their meals before ours were even brought out. (Perhaps due to the uncomfortableness of that booth, they make it a point to make sure people seated there get fed quickly, so they can depart before pancake belly sets in.) Our food was finally served. An acknowledgment that we had been waiting a while would have been nice, but was not to be had. Food was only ok. I ordered the bacon pancakes, which was my mainstay back in the Northgate days, and they were fine, if nothing outstanding. Accompanying eggs over easy were completely uninspired. Husband had a bacon and cheese omelet with hash browns and reported it "filled a hole." All in all, a very mixed, but mostly meh, experience. Not sorry I stopped in, but would be unlikely to do so again.

This place just wasn't that good. First of all, being acknowledged took FOREVER in restaurant time, which is actually about 10 minutes by normal standards. But whatever, they were busy. It happens. Our unfriendly hostess plopped us down in a tiny booth and scuttled away. Minutes went by and we finally got some weak coffee. For a pancake house, they didn't seem like they had that many pancakes listed... They also don't have chicken fried steak. What the hell, how can you not serve that? They had an option for a cube steak by itself, but apparently it was too much trouble to fry it. I had biscuits and gravy and it wasn't the worst, but really uninspired and bland. Bf ordered French dips and the sandwich was expensive and shamefully small. Waiter never came by to ask how anything was. We were essentially ignored the entire meal while our server schmoozed with the elderly patrons. Their hash browns were good and grease laden. Just not a good place at all. Super disappointed and I will not come back.

Came here on a busy Sunday but I expected it would be. Very awkward entrance and you wait for your table in a long hallway...alright. Service was not top notch and I didn't really expect it to be but a small smile would have been awesome. I am sorry it's busy and you may hate your job, but smile and pretend would ya? Food was okay. OJ was just normal processed off the truck stuff. I had the chocolate chip pancakes, Kiddo had french toast, husband had buckwheat and potato pancakes. Side of sausage. My pancakes were good but nothing over the top, just your basic pancakes. Kid's french toast much have been good because he sucked that down fast. Husband said his pancakes were really good. All in all, I am sure I would give it another whirl but try something different. It's not the BEST place around for breakfast that I have ever had but it is a step above iHop and other places.

I have enjoyed this breakfast on many occasions. They have a great variety of pancakes, including pecan...my favorite. Authentic senior citizen decor. Coffee brewed like it was 1968. Also a heart stopping amount of whipped cream on waffles. The reasonable prices justify the visit to this "old school" place.

This isn't a place to get the latest trend in healthy food, or a fancy gourmet dinner. It's exactly what it says it is, a pancake house. They have other stuff too, including good hashbrowns, & some egg dishes, but stick with what the sign says... Great pancakes (even Buckwheat yaay!!) served hot. Pleasant service, & a relaxed atmosphere top this off as a good breakfast, or brunch stop.

Three words come to mind after eating here, heat and serve. Now I should have heeded the words of others on here who said that this was very bland, generic, prepackaged styled food, but, I felt that as an American I can form my opinion. I felt at the very least they had to be better than Denny's right? Wrong! You can't fault Denny's for their clay pigeon stylized pancakes that may chip your teeth, at least they have flavor and it's an amazing treat when they are actually cooked correctly. The pancakes from the aptly named Pancake Haus go down like a medical exam glove only with a less pleasing taste. My eggs ordered Over-hard where cooked to pretty much the same level as my friend's egg's cooked Over-medium, this was a first for me. I don't like feeling like my baby chickens are going to make a run from my plate before I get around to eating them. They had an interesting menu; they had the option of ordering fifteen silver dollar pancakes. What they failed to mention though, was they also had silver dollar sausage patties priced at only $2.59 each. Now, you can almost buy a roll of Jimmy Dean sausage at that price, and have 10-12 good sized patties, or make upwards of 20 silver dollar sized ones. Fountain drinks came with only one free refill, as well as the Iced-tea. Do yourself a favor, as well as your taste buds and eat someplace else.

Fully owned and operated. Seat yourself kind of place. Very homey. Brandon was our server, very nice, and accommodated to our rushed needs. Food was late, something went wrong in the kitchen so the owner comp'd our meals before we could even complain. It's apparent they care about their guests and our experience was great. Eggs Benedict was delicious, eggs cooked perfectly, hollandaise sauce was abundant and flavorful. Presentation was ok. I will be back. Their waffles were crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. Delicious! I will say, if you're used to places like Black Bear Diner, do NOT come here, you will be disappointed. If you want "girl next door", homey, "boyfriend wanted to cook me breakfast" food, this place is good.

Watercolor paintings by talented senior citizens and a decor straight out of 1979 are your constant companions as you wait for the understaffed (and in one case, heavily pregnant) crew to attend to your seating and order. This is a breakfast place, and yet sadly the senior theme continues with weak brew and cream delivered in those little truck stop containers. The morning brightened up a bit with a nicely done omelette, however the eggs had a suspiciously uniform texture. My pancakes were suberb, and arrived with butter in a tiny plastic specimen container. I guess I expect better in the Seattle area; the trip up through the blight and weariness of Aurora Ave should tell that you're leaving the confines of gastronomic Seattle proper. I wanted to give this four stars for the food but waiting that long for bad coffee and quickie mart half & half gave me a sour outlook on this haus.

Mmmm coconut pancakes. I got a short stack (3 pancakes) of the coconut pancakes with pineapple syrup for $6. Good price, great pancakes. The menu seems pretty traditional. Coffee is normal diner coffee. Pancake Haus isn't going to blow you out of the water with unique breakfast offerings but it seems to be a good, solid breakfast spot. I would return!

You let me down, Yelp. After driving all the way from Green Lake to Edmonds to find brunch on a Sunday morning without an hour-long wait (although we still waited about twenty minutes) we decided to try this place out, pretty much solely based off of our hunger and the star rating this place has. Let me set the record straight once and for all so any future brunch-seekers will know what they're really in for. What we expected: Delicious, local, home-made "Bavarian-themed" breakfast dishes, friendly service, fresh juices, the works. The way most reviews make this place sound is truly amazing. What we got: Bland, uninspired, lifeless "breakfast staples" most likely from a can or box with a Food Services of America label on the outside. I have never had such a "literal" and boring breakfast. Egg, sausage, hash browns, pancake. Whatever you order, that and only that will be on your plate, carelessly tossed without any attempt at presentation (orange slice, anyone?). I get that the target audience here is seniors who would probably smack you with a cane if you tried to add some flavor to any of the dishes, but seriously, get at least a little creative. Oh, and it was an extra $3.00 to "upgrade" to the Pecan Pancakes, which was basically a handful of pecans tossed in the regular batter. During our breakfast conversation we were reminiscing about the great breakfasts we'd had at the dining centers back in our college days. When you reach the point where you're comparing this place to a dining center you realize it's just over. We won't be back.

From the moment I entered the place, I could tell I was only marginally acceptable to dine with the cultural luminaries of Edmonds. I am about as middle class average as it gets and yet I was nearly convinced I had just robbed a liquor store. I noted they had a German pancake, which done correctly, is delectable. They look and taste a bit like a fallen souffle and are served with butter, fruit compote, syrup, etc. I realized too late I had ordered wrong when I looked back toward the kitchen and saw the chef de cuisine physically and verbally groan when he saw the ticket. In a desperate attempt to save myself from what was clearly going to be a half assed pancake, I politely called the waiter over to order some meat on the side. Just in case. I asked for 1 link sausage and 1 patty sausage. He expressed it was somewhat off menu, but he could do it. Things were looking up. For the record, I entered the Pancake Haus in a state of utter starvation after a night of alcohol and cannabis fueled debauchery. The meal would have to consist of the south end of a north bound horse to keep me from eating it. On arrival, the pancake looked somewhat like a German pancake but was way overcooked. Dark brown even. Clearly he went long on time to ensure the center cooked completely, sacrificing the edges. Big mistake mein freund. The meat was of good quality, although the patty sausage was also overcooked. Burned even. The link was excellent however and I give full credit for its preparation. Finally things settled, I had reached a state of satiety, and thoughts of an afternoon nap entered my mind. Casually examining the ticket, I realized I was charged $3.99 for a single patty of sausage. The burned, single patty of sausage. The sum total of a pancake and two pieces of pork totaled over 15 bucks. Another polite inquiry to the wait staff revealed I had been given the "large" patty of sausage. Sadly I had no comparative sausage available, but the sausage I was served was no bigger round than a can of coke. Pretty standard size in my experience. Alas my inquiry only resulted in more trite, artificially apologetic statements from the staff so I stiffed them on the tip in revenge. Petty I know, but I'm like that when I get ripped off...

This is our second weekend in a row at Pancake Haus, even though it takes us a half hour to get there. I have been wanting to go since I saw it a few years back and was reminded of Der Waffle Haus on Dead Like Me. I have no idea if Der Waffle Haus was any good, but this place rocks! SO here's my run down: -it will take longer on weekends, especially when people are getting out of church (and heathens like me are waking up) -the staff is not there to hold your hand and make you feel special. Coffee, pancakes, next (repeat). However, in a place like this, it's just fine and you have to admire the work ethic when it is packed. -the potato pancakes are dry, not greasy like latkes. So, if you want greasy, like me, they are not for you. They're ok, just not amazing. - the blueberry pancakes are great and have lovely little blueberries that you get in every bite. -the sourdough pancakes are beyond craveable. I got them to put some blueberries in the batter (like a blueberry-sourdough hybrid) and they were beyond amazing. They have every kind of pancake you could ever want, so throw on your sweats and sneakers and get out of bed before noon for once - it's worth it!

I believe I have officially found my new favorite breakfast spot. What everyone else has said about this place is true, it's just damn good, tasty delicious food. Walking in the front door you automatically get that warm feeling in your tummy when the fabulous aroma hits you right in the face. The decor is simple but has a homely feeling to it. One thing I noticed is after about 10am the place gets pretty packed and a line starts to form to be seated. So make sure you arrive early to avoid the rush. The menu offers tons of tasty options to satisfy your taste buds from different types of breakfast items like crepes, pancakes, waffles, omelets and many others for reasonable prices. They also do lunch which I have yet to try. I had a hard time deciding what to choose because everything sounded so good. I went with a stack of three bacon pancakes and ordered a side of hash browns, eggs and sausage. The pancakes were filled with delicious chunks of bacon, I would defiantly order it again. My wife ordered the apple crepes which were huge and took up the entire plate. The apples they put on top were almost like an apple pie filling and were absolutely delicious. The portions were perfect for paying under $10 a plate. I defiantly can't wait to come back and try something new.

My wife and I come here almost every week and often multiple times a week. We always get a bacon and cheddar omelet with black olives split between us. I get pancakes with peanut butter and she gets hash browns. And of course coffee. If you like a small town breakfast joint who just does good breakfast then you will love this spot. If you are a trendy snob then you won't like it. We don't want you there anyway.

I felt like I was in Leavenworth when I walked in. The atmosphere was inviting and the servers were very friendly and helpful. We custom ordered the eggs Benedict to have the Dungeness crab instead of the traditional Canadian bacon. No complaints from the server. They turned out awesome! And for $13 with hash browns...that's a deal. Overall the place is above par from your normal "diner" type breakfast joints. I will be retuning for my Crab Benny!

Boy do I love this place! It's an Edmonds staple that keeps me coming back! I never seem to get a bad dish here and (while I will keep this review short) I just simply love it. Price is right... Pancakes are fluffy... Servers are friendly... and many other pluses that make up for kind of a dark ambiance... overall.. I'm a fan... 4 right-next-to-Petosa's stars out of 5

Huh. I was expecting a good breakfast based on all the great reviews, but my experience here was not so great. Nothing was terribly wrong; everyone was very friendly and service was cheerful and attentive. But the space itself was old and kind of scungy, and it was FREEZING cold in there...maybe due to the old single-pane windows. Not a place to come on a typical rainy, damp day. I had the potato pancakes and was thoroughly underwhelmed--bland and gummy. The link sausage was standard-issue, nothing special. And the coffee was terrible. I'm not a coffee snob by any means, but this was basically just hot brown water. I could probably be persuaded to return and try something else.. maybe crepes or regular pancakes.. but more than likely I'll skip this place in the future.

Specialty pancakes are fine, but EVERYTHING else is boring: powdered eggs, swiss miss hot chocolate, hash brown swimming in butter, service is slow, ambience is on par with Denny's, and they nickle and dime every little thing. Want salsa? That'll be a dollar.

  • Lindsey S.

So every time I come here I automatically want to order the Strawberry Crepes. I like strawberries, I dig whipped cream, and am partial to anything involving flour and butter. Their crepes are amazing and I love that I can order just one, or three, if I please. I also seem to order their hashbrowns every time I go as well (I never claimed I ate healthy here), and I now always ask for them to be extra crispy and the staff never give me attitude for it. (At least to my face) I've tried other items before, like the blueberry pancakes with blueberry syrup (pancake was awesome, blueberry syrup notsomuch), also had the regular pancakes with pineapple syrup (umm, yeah stick with their regular maple, mmmkay?) Waffles were tasty!! Coffee is always decent and my cup never seems to get empty before they fill it up again. A few downfalls on the Haus is the long, narrow waiting area when you enter (kinda like the line at the DMV, no one is happy and you never seem to get noticed), and how traffic can be a pain on a weekend morning in Edmonds... But this is definitely my go-to place for Breakfasty goodness, a good meal after scuba diving at the Park, or awesome hangover food. Take your pick.

This is an awesome place to come for a breakfast out with the family. Don't expect the best breakfast you've ever had - it's a pancake house. Expect a pancake house and you'll love it. The food comes out quickly, the coffee is good, and they're very kid friendly. It gets very busy on the weekends so get there early or plan to wait for a table. My 3 year old son loves this place. He gets a huge plate of pancakes and colors his menu and talks until the food comes out. He devours the pancakes and anything leftover we take home and he finishes later. I've had a couple different omlettes and the egg benedict. Both are very good, again for a pancake house. Now that Red Twig's quality has declined and their pretentious attitude belongs in Bell Town, this is my favorite breakfast spot in Edmonds.

This is my go to place when I want an old fashioned American breakfast. I ask for crispy hash browns and that's the way the come. I get monster breakfasts here: wheat toast, hash browns, scrambled eggs, bacon, with a side of ham and a side of salsa. Oh, I forgot the coffee. They keep it filled until you say stop. I've never had a bad meal here.

Don't really understand the bad reviews. Went yesterday at 9:30. They were busy, but not packed. (There was a longer line when we left though) Got seated right away and asked what we wanted to drink. Coffee & waters came right away. About five minutes later, our waiter came and took our order. Mom ordered the Dutch baby, which the waiter asked what size she wanted. This took a little extra time to cook, but worth it. It was cooked perfectly and she barely ate 1/2 the "small." My hash browns were delicious, as was my ham & egg scramble. What will keep us coming back though was my husbands over medium fried eggs! Not may places can get it right, but these were perfect! Yolk just barely starting to firm up, with no snotty whites! Will come here now rather than traveling to Patty's Egg Nest. Looking forward to our next visit.

This place has a good reputation and I would have to agree. Both times I've had a great experience with it and I will definitely go back. The food is great, the servers are awesome, and it isn't that expensive. I got an omlette and you get a choice of hashbrowns/toast, pancakes, or biscuits and gravy.. and its only $10 or so! To me that is a great deal.

For now, this place is just a-okay for me. The service was fine, the place was more an American diner than a "haus". I appreciate that they know what over-medium means on eggs and that warm syrup is a must with pancakes. However, I didn't go ga-ga over anything. We did try the sourdough pancakes; there was a bitter aftertaste I couldn't get over, but the Hubby liked it. I am still interested in trying other items on their menu, but I don't know how quickly I'll return.

Das is good. Die Nahrung ist gut, der Kaffee nicht so gut Translation? It's good. The food is good, while the Coffee not so much, just dark colored hot water. Service is quick, food is pretty good, I heart breakfast, plenty of worn out yellow carpet to go all around. Timeless.

I should begin this by clarifying that I am not a huge pancake person... but with a menu like that of the Haus, you don't get a choice. From tradtional to sourdough the pancakes run the gammut. There are even a fair number of filled and speciality pancakes. The coffee is refilled, the waitstaff is filled with teenagers making money over the weekends, and the menu is filled with options. But really you wouldn't go wrong just opting for the pancakes. All this with the small town charm which defines Edmonds, and a resaonable price... and I am a happy customer. On a side note there are banners for a Toastmasters group that meets there so if you are in Edmonds and looking for a way to become involved in public speaking this might be a good way to start that... and have the pancakes I dream about.

Great food. Great service. Good parking. Bad coffee. Way too noisy. Sometimes I get charged different amounts even when ordering the same things. Nevertheless, I go there ALL the time. And highly recommend.

I love this place. I always get the same thing, the Cheddar cheese omelet as it's my favorite. My Mom is fan of the bacon pancakes, but I've never tried them. It's a great place for breakfast- I highly recommend it.

This is my favorite place to have breakfast. For every weekend this month, I have drudged up the energy to get up at 8am to drive to Edmonds from Seattle for Pancake Haus. Disclaimer: I do not like waking up at 8am (I don't even wake up this early for work) having to drive all the way to Edmonds for breakfast. But I imagine that this is the shared adversity most have that makes this place my place of sanctuary/refuge on lazy Sunday mornings. This is my place of peaceful newspaper reading, a glass of orange juice, and wonderful pancakes or waffles. The bacon is crispy. This isn't going to wow anyone, but this will make one feel at home. If any of you have seen Dead Like Me, you will understand what I mean when I say this place has the same vibe of belonging as "Der Waffle Haus". I highly recommend a short stack of Banana pancakes or the golden waffle special. They just are well proportioned and suited ways to start a day. Wait can be a bit long during the morning as there's a lot of regular patrons who have let this place hide from the lime light. I guess being tucked away in downtown Edmonds, the denizens of the town like it that way. the wait staff is courteous and do their best to keep control of the madness.

Had a delicious breakfast at Pancake Haus this morning. We passed by this restaurant couple weeks ago and found this restaurant again on Yelp this morning. Have been looking for good pancake and just did at Pancake Haus. Staff and waitress are very friendly. Good with coffee refill. Food was delicious. Hubby and I both ordered the Lucky 7+2 which includes 2 eggs, 2 sausage, 2 bacon, and 2 buttermilk pancake or toast. I picked the pancake, but hubby substitute with Swedish pancake paying the price difference. Eggs were cooked just right. Bacon was crispy. Sausage was cooked with a nice pop when you bite into the sausage. Loved the buttermilk pancake. It was perfect and the pancake didn't break when you folded it. To me, that is what pancake supposed to be. The Swedish pancake was just crepe and served with lingonberry sauce. Really delicious. They also offers many different kinds of pancakes such as bacon pancake, sourdough pancake and more. Can't wait to go back to try other pancakes. Great price, good food, good service. We got there before noon on Sunday and didn't have to wait. Hope that the coffee can be stronger.

Pretty solid breakfast offering, consider this more a 3-1/2 star review. It is a touch on the pricy side, but not outrageous. Two things that really stand out. The potato pancakes are incredible, absolutely, incredible, huge, and a great value. The last time I was there they made bacon chocolate chip pancakes for me. They were awesome. The coffee is good too, and hey, for breakfast that is important!

Breakfast and coffee on a weekday is great here! Way too crowded on Saturday and Sunday especially, line out the door usually! They have cheap breakfast combos for less than 7 dollars. Yummy!

This place is DELICIOUS! I have been several times, ordered different meals, and have always been super happy with the food. I have, however, only been for breakfast. Sometimes the wait can be pretty long (it is a small venue for how popular it is) but the food is definitely worth it. Everything is cooked perfectly and so tasty. The meals are pretty good-sized too, I always feel full when I am leaving and not like I got gipped.

I always love a good stack o' pancakes. I'm a huge fan of sourdough pancakes and so far, the best are at the Original Pancake House in Ballard. I figured that I'd enjoy this place because they also served sourdough pancakes. I was also delighted to see corn cakes and buckwheat pancakes; both are also faves of mine. I'm one of those weirdos who doesn't like anything in her pancakes nor on top of them except a bit o' butter. Yah, no syrup or fruit here; I love the simple goodness of a wonderful hot and delicious pancake. There was a small wait when we arrived, but not too bad. It looks like they had just cleared a lot of tables and were cleaning them up to make room for the new customers. The hostess didn't seem happy to be there. I almost prefer that over the ZOMG CHEERFUL CHATTY type hostess. *chuckle* Even with a big line, we were taken to a four top when there were 2 top tables free. It looked like there was just one waiter, a busser and a bunch of other helpful people pouring coffee and water to help him out. Since he seemed to be waiting on tons of folks, I thought the seating was odd. Maybe there was another wait person we didn't see. At any rate, we were served coffee that was pretty standard and cheap stuff. It's got caffeine and was hot, so I don't mind. About the same as you'd expect from Denny's/IHOP. The menu was quite large and had a good variety of standard, but not exciting breakfast foods. I was also happy to see cream-of-wheat on the menu; I dig that stuff. I ordered the half-stack of sourdough with a side of patty sausage. Sweetie ordered a full stack of sourdough. The pancakes were slightly done more than I like, but if the flavor was there, I wasn't going to complain. Sadly, it wasn't. There was only the *tiniest* hint of sourdough anywhere in these cakes. I was a very sad panda as I had been drooling at the thought of proper sourdough cakes. The sausage patty was quite large, but it was entirely too greasy. It wasn't really all that hot, either. I really wanted to take a paper towel to the damn thing. It did have some flavor to it, though, so it wasn't a total loss. Still, it was too greasy to finish. We received our bill promptly, which is always a good thing for me in a diner type atmosphere. We went up to pay as the front desk; the not-happy hostess was checking us out. I felt bad that she looked so miserable. I think I'd rather take the long drive down to Beth's or Original Pancake House before eating here again. It was just a sad place and no one looked happy to be there. (not to mention, extremely loud for such a small place)

BACON PANCAKES!!! That's right, the Pancake Haus serves pancakes that have chunks of bacon in them. I could go on and on about how they have a ton of different styles of pancakes - coconut, banana, blueberry, potato, German, sourdough, etc., but my review really only needs one thing in it to justify it's five stars... BACON PANCAKES!!!

This place is great and worth the drive for a weekend breakfast.. My experience with their menu is however somewhat limited as I always buy the same thing - french rollups. I get them topped with raspberries and whipped cream. They have the raspberries year round, so obviously they buy them frozen, but they are real and not some jam orpie filling like other places use for their toppings. The whipped cream is real. It is all of heavy cream fluffed up goodness that one could ever want. I did see some people rating this place's food as not very good. I can only assume that these are the people who love going into these "creative" restaurants where the cooks throw so much seasonings and spices into the dishes that their customers taste buds get destroyed. Once that happens don't expect to experience the subtle differences in old fashioned food. One would not expect a someone who swigs whiskey to have the palate for wine tasting. It is definitely as some others mentioned a trip back in time. Nothing fancy about the inside, but then again it is called the Pancake Haus, so there is some old German theme running through the restaurant, but mostly it just feels like some place from the 70's show. I don't mind it whoever - it was a good show.

This place is wonderful. Servers are spectacular. Victoria in particular is our favorite. The food is good. Hash browns are always cooked to perfection. Highly recommended to all that like a good old American breakfast.

I read in several other reviews that the Pancake Haus has been in business for 30 years and I would imagine it has been equally that long since the place was properly cleaned. My husband and I were seated at a booth right next to a window The dust, grime and cobwebs that covered the ledges was nothing less than disgusting. We had to get up and get clean silverware as ours still had the last diners egg on it. The salt and pepper shakers were sticky and splashed with egg yolk and syrup along with all the hot sauces. The food was actually pretty good. However, it was difficult to eat it because I kept thinking if the dinning room is this filthy - what might the kitchen look like. We really wanted to like this place as non-corporate, mom and pop places are usually our favorites. Unfriendly, slow, and surly service to eat pretty good food in a filthy dirty diner- I don't think so..

Great local breakfast joint. You can't go wrong with any breakfast order. One of our favorite places to go on a Sarturday or Sunday morning. I would reccomend getting a booth if you can. Enjoy

The Pancake Haus has been serving it up for 30 years and it shows. 1970's retro German design with a Dennys feel. Expect long waits for a table and longer waits to get your food. Service is friendly but they tend to forget you once you have ordered. Prices are on the average side and so is the food. This really is a local hang out and if your a local and come here often your going to get good service otherwise its hit and miss. DJY is right the coffee sucks but the good thing is they only filled it once so I was spared having to drink more of it.

We arrived a little after 1 and had to wait for more than a half hour to be seated. No one greeted us or even made eye contact until our turn came up in line. I noticed that many people were leaving but they still did not seat us. By the time we were seated the restaurant was empty. The waitress took her time to get our order even though there were only 4 tables in the entire place. Then we sat and waited forever for our food. Everyone in the place received their food in a timely manner except us. When I gave the server the "where is my food look" she just said it's coming. She never acknowledged the fact that it was taking a while or tried to explain why. The people who arrived after us only waited a few minutes for a table and got their food before us. We only ordered 2 omelettes for god's sake. The atmosphere is dull and the clientele is old. There was a convoy of walkers leaving the restaurant the whole time we were there. I should have expected as much since I was in Edmonds. The saddest thing is that the staff didn't move that much faster than the walker brigade. Even though there was a line out the door I never saw any of them move any faster than a casual stroll. It really sucks that the service is so bad because the food was good. I don't think I will ever go back.

So far, my wife and I have been here twice and the food is delicious! The atmosphere is very much a small town one, lots of warm conversations around. They have a tremendous amount of pancakes to choose from: classic buttermilk, oat bran, sourdough, stuffed, and even German style (as the name intimates) just to name a few. As Brandon S. so well put it, the bacon stuffed pancakes are to die for. Granted, I am a huge fan of bacon and pork in all it's forms, but I've never had it in my pancakes. Can't recommend this place enough!

I ate here for the 2nd time on Saturday. Last time, I had the banana pancakes which were absolutely delicious! Lots of bananas it them, which is hard to come by! This time, I ordered peach crepes with whipped cream. Yummiest breakfast EVER! The service is a little slow, but they warn you right on the cover of the menu. Their menu is pretty extensive. It's mostly people in their 60's-80's who dine here. It's much better than IHOP or Denny's. The crepes weren't as processed tasting as IHOP. Everything tasted like it had been made from scratch.

Haha... this place will just make you laugh. Its like entering a different place in history- you could be seated next to the Cleavers or WOW- Im not old enough to know any of those old shows. But it is an experience to dine here. 1st off- if you are under 50 you will be considered a "youngin". Service is OK- usually pretty quick. Best thing going for it is its CHEAP. Food is OK- nothing special. They can pretty much do anything you want to a pancake.

Patience is what you will need when visiting this fine establishment, it starts when your driving into Edmonds. Lots of seniors reside in Edmonds and they really like to obey all the speed laws........if your not stuck behind an elderly person at the wheel with a "Edmonds type of day" sticker on their rear bumper going at least 15 miles per hour below the speed limit.....it's possible you might of strayed into Lynnwood. This place has been here for like 30 years family owned and run. They have such a great selection of breakfast to choose from I had a tough time deciding on what I wanted. I went with a eggs and hashbrowns (exciting I know) but I was craving that item so I had to have it. I also decided on wanting a side of pancakes (it is the Pancake Haus) after all. You can choose from short stack or large stack....or even try single pancakes for like $1.50 extra........this is great for when you want to try some different varieties. They have every type of pancake available, some of the ones I thought about were the banana cakes with pineapple syrup....apple....corn.......blueberry......wheat.......even chocolate chip ones. I decided on just having a bacon pancake with my eggs and hashbrowns which also came with toast. The eggs were great but the hashbrowns were awesome.....crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside........I swear ...making hasbrowns is a lost art. I thought my food was great all the way around and their is a ton of other things on the menu I want to go back and try. One item they have here is German pancakes aka Dutch Babies. You need patience when ordering these because the cook in the oven and can take 20-25 minutes....but they are well worth it. If your in a big hurry and want to eat and run....this might not be the place...........if you want a great place with lots of options this is a good bet all the way around. Just be warned if you go on a weekend......there will be a line.....but think of it this way.....most people don't wait in line for bad food now do they? The food can take a while....but having patience is the key. My only disappointment was for myself......for not trying this place sooner after driving by it for some many years...................SHAME on me.

For over 30 years, The Pancake Haus has been serving breakfast in Edmonds. It's a great family breakfast place with the standard pancakes (of course!), eggs, omlets and sandwiches. We showed up at about 11 a.m. one Sunday morning and waited for about 30 minutes for a table. It's that good!

This was my grandparents favorite place to eat, and I've been having waffles and pancakes there as long as I can remember. Pancake Haus is comfort food for me. Personally, I almost always have the good ol' bacon and eggs. My son is a pancake fan and my wife loves the blueberry pancakes.

  • Jesse N.

I was terribly disappointed with my experience at the Haus. I went with a group of girls who are in the youth group I lead. It took half an hour to get seated. When they finally seated us it was in a back room that was nearly empty! I can't believe it took half an hour to put paper napkins on the table...there were about ten empty tables all around us. They never took our drink orders, when I finally got coffee they never refilled it. After 45 minutes of waiting for our food we finally asked and got a very rude response. When the food came, we were all wishing we had gone someplace else. The only thing that was any good was the swedish pancakes. Never going there again!

  • VyVy M.

The food was okay. It wasn't amazing but it wasn't horrible. ...maybe because I was just really hungry at the time... I thought they could have made the food better. The pancakes were pretty much dry and bland. They do ask you how you like your food cooked, which was considerate. But it didn't really compensate for how much of taste and flavor the breakfast plates lacked. However, biscuits and gravy were nice. The service was good, really friendly and nice people. They also refill on coffee. Located pretty deep in Edmonds. It seemed sort of vast when we got there. Not a lot of people, but a lot of old folk early birds.

Two of us came here to eat mid-day. Besides the people working there, we must have been the youngest people there. We were seated promptly and our orders were taken as soon as we were ready. Then we waited for our food, maybe 10 plus minutes. Maybe it was my hash browns that slowed things down. They were done very well. All the food was good. My father in law had a turkey sandwich with a cup of soup. He said his meal was very good. The place is a little tired but the service was prompt and the food was good.

Food sucks, waiting area none existent, they don't have Chicken Fired Steak and Eggs. Is pricy. Décor is very old but I that does not really bother me. Parking is good, but there are better places to spend my hard earned money

Good old fashioned pancakes, many kinds, My kids love 'em. They have a banquet room which has a gavel if you need one. My work has had staff meetings there before, and the service was great for a group of 15. They didn't mind that we sang and were loud. I think the Elks or the rotary has a meeting in there usually. Lots of amusing banners on the walls. Good breakfast food, not fancy at all. Lots of white haired folks in this place. Coffee is yuk, but no matter.

even though i had the potato pancakes that i was not fond of and the waitperson warned me they were hit and miss with most people i ordered them any way .....put it this way i didnt like them but the food in general that every body else in my party ordered was good ....pancakes ,bisquits and gravy ,eggs bene ,omlets served in a timley fashion and hot

I have been coming here off and on for 12 years now. This is the local breakfast place for a community that has more than the average retired folks in residence. If you are looking for trendy coffee cake and eggs go somewhere else. If you want a solid breakfast with courteous staff that keeps the coffee topped off , this is the place.

I am a transplant to the area and prefer fried fish (sorry)...Pancake Haus has the best fish we have eaten in the state of Washington! Every item I have ordered has been great. Because it is a popular place, it can get noisy every now and then. I come at least once a week, more if I can swing it.

  • Erika E.

If you like bland American food based almost solely on wheat and sugar, this might be the place for you. This place seemed like a Village Inn with less options (no spinach for omelettes, seriously?), and honestly, their pancakes didn't taste any better than Village Inn's do. Their hash browns were only acceptable, not great, and all of their meat seemed to come from bulk frozen packs. Their coffee was weak and tasted burnt. The only thing truly good about this place was the service.

    (2)
  • Charles C.

Most of the food is a-typical diner fare. The service is pretty good, the patrons are mostly of the grayer set; where the Pancake Haus differentiates itself from IHOP is with its traditional German pancakes. Nevermind the forewarned additional cooking time, they are worth the wait! When the tasty Bismarck arrives, squeeze the lemons over the top, pour the syrup on and enjoy! Oh, if you like good coffee, better wait and get your caffeine intake elsewhere.

  • Rossana Y.

This is a really good place for breakfast food, better than Denny's or IHOP. You will find a lot of seniors here since this place is in Edmonds. I came here with a friend and we shared the biscuits and gravy, oat bran pancakes and the Denver omelette. They all tasted really good! You get to choose how many pancakes you want, either long stack (6), short stack (3), or individual ones. There are many different kinds of pancakes to choose from, including the kinds of syrup! There are many other choices on the menu besides pancakes and the prices were average. I will definitely come here again.

My boyfriend and I love this place for breakfast! There's normally a small wait, but it's worth it. We like to share a savory item like an Eggs Benedict and then also share something sweet like their Swedish Pancakes or something. Everything has always been delicious!

  • Charlie L.

There are a few dishes that are good... but for the most part, just simple, on-par food. Nothing great, nothing bad... it's just A-Ok. Their "sausage" gravy is good (you can't see the sausage), but no where near Texas good. One thing of note... heir special German fluff pancake... not that great, but I'm also not a fan of lemon. I do, however, want to send some props out to them for finding my credit card and holding it for almost a week (without unauthorized charges). Rock on.

I remember eating here when I was a kid. We used to come here after church on Sundays and wait in the long line of locals. When I went back as an adult, the food tasted just as good as it did when I was young. Once you're seated, the food comes quickly and the service is friendly.

I'm not too into pancakes, but I really enjoyed my Klondike Sourdough Pancakes here. We came with a very large group with babies and young children, and we were treated to good service and timeliness bringing out our food. What a great local place for Edmunds residents.
