If this hotel was in Rutland or the beginning of the Killington Access Road, I would give it 2 stars. However, sitting at the base of Snowshed, I'll throw in an extra star. Here's the DL: The hotel defines run-down, but it gets the job down. You have a clean place to stay, FREE continental breakfast in the morning and FREE shuttles to the mountain and to the nightlife. The price wasn't too bad for the location. Oh, and props to the the hotel's bartenders - friendly, fast and full of local information.

The Mountain Inn is the perfect spot for a quick getaway to Killington. Is it a 5 star hotel? No. But NOTHING in Killington is. It is walking distance from the lift (or a free 2-minute shuttle), the rooms are perfectly nice, and the staff is EXTREMELY friendly. They answered every question I had both before and during my visit, went out of their way to recommend local activities, restaurants, etc, and always had a smile. I will definitely stay here again the next time I go back to Vermont.

GREAT RUSTIC INN... nice to find a place that has some character in Killington, and its a great set up all around. We had a balcony room which was great waking up to a view of the resort/mountain, major plus, makes you feel like youre on vacation. The room was modest, clean, and had a gas fireplace which was a nice feature. I would like the Sante Fe / Mountain vibe to be carried over a little more into the room decor, but thats just a thought. I loved that the hotel had such a great restaurant/bar downstairs, very old school mountain lodge woodsy vibe. Would hate to see this place get madeover in any generic way. Loved the character of the place. and Very reasonable rates. The hotel staff was very very professional and friendly. ps: and to the twits who say... "the sink isnt even in the bathroom"... well, duh, thats like, duh, a very common feature in small hotel rooms which makes 'getting ready' alot easier and a lot less awkward.

I feel like I should title this one "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly." Starting with the good, you can't beat the location (unless you want to pay 2x to 3x more per night and stay at The Grand), staff is friendly, the bar is nice and has a few local beers on tap. Rooms are small but adequate for a slightly dated VT ski lodge. The bad is pretty much the standard complaint about this place and that is the tissue paper thin walls. I honestly thought the folks upstairs were going to come crashing through the ceiling on Sunday morning and I think you can hear every bathroom fan go on within a 3 or 4 room radius. The ugly is the place needs to be painted, fixtures need some brighter lights, our shower head was rusted and weak, and the gob of hair in the luke warm outdoor pool was pretty disgusting. For the price and location, I'd go back but I'd pay more if they fixed the place up to give The Grand some competition.

Well first and foremost I will start with the pros, the workers are very nice and helpful. Now with the many cons, the free breakfast was pathetic, the gym was out of order, the sink isnt even in the bathroom, and lastly the heated pool closes at 730 I mean honestly what are we 10? epic fail mountain inn, epic fail.

Overall: a very reasonable place to crash near the slopes, but with a little bit of a cheap, "run down" feeling. Pros: very close to Snowshed base of Killington (either a short shuttle, long walk, or 2-minute drive away) a heated outdoor pool, air hockey table and video game room, full bar and restaurant (and occasional live music), a laundry machine and dryer, small dry sauna, small fridge in many if not all rooms (there was even one in one of my rooms that didn't mention it online), DVD player, TV with cable, free Wi-Fi (pretty reliable in different areas of the hotel), continental breakfast with waffles, friendly staff, and easy parking in the lot. Cons: thin ceilings (can't sleep once the upstairs neighbors wake up), curtains that don't close completely, loud shower fan (in one of my rooms), fairly weak water pressure, few and inconvenient electrical outlets, serviceable but not very comfortable beds, cheap OJ, bagels, and corn syrup for the waffles at breakfast, and relatively little charm (except maybe in the breakfast room and bar).

There is no separate entry for the Santa Fe Steakhouse co-located on the premises, so I'm writing my review here, although I've not stayed at this hotel. We were immediately seated, without reservations, last Sunday night in a warm, comfy booth with pillows brought to us on request (I'd seen them elsewhere in the restaurant) and friendly service. Several reasonably priced draft beers available. Nice looking place inside, warm Southwestern feel, and even a group of lighted Cocopelli sculptures outside... in the snow! I couldn't resist the groan-inducing observation that they should be called... Snowcopellis! I apologize for that. Anyway.... Good cheap beer, decent martini, but disappointingly lackluster prime rib, soggy on the edges when it should have been crusty. Decent salad bar and a selection of Bailey's-variant chocolate cups for desert rescue this hotel restaurant from 2-star damnation. The fact this place is right next to Snowshed means I might consider giving it my business next time, but I'll need to order something Vermonters make well... which I'm now given to understand means "not steak."

Just came back from 2 nights at the Mountain Inn, after a last minute trip up to Killington for some skiing (and AMAZING powder this morning). Very no-frills, you get what you pay for - this is either the closest, or 2nd closest hotel to the slopes so what you get in convenience of location, you trade for in everything else. Rooms are small, appearance is dated (think 70's motel), sink is located in the living room BUT you do get free continental breakfast in the mornings from 7-10am (which is so key before heading up the slopes). Also, the Inn is the first stop for the Killington shuttle so you're guaranteed a seat up, and to be dropped off first on the way back. Yay. There is a room for ski storage, as well as a pool (heated to 93 degrees when we decided to venture out in negative temperatures), and a small dry sauna. No hot tub unfortunately. There is also a steakhouse (Santa Fe Steakhouse if I recall correctly), where they serve breakfast... didn't try but looked ok.

very conveniently located... about a 5 minute shuttle ride to the slopes. was disappointed with breakfast however when i saw the styrofoam plates. in this day and age, i would like to see these types of establishments be more environmentally friendly. hope they change this soon. the bar however, was very cool... and there was a very good live music band over that played on saturday night.

The 3 star description of A-OK about sums up The Mountain Inn. It's OK. The place is sort of rundown but OK for a skiing weekend due to its proximity to Snowshed Base. The staff is friendly enough but a little too "watchful". There were no luggage carts available because "The kids rode them out and buried them in the snow." Guess the staff wasn't watching then. All the luggage toting didn't do much for me. The proximity to the base is really the only thing to give it 3 stars.

Great location minutes from the lift. Other than that, not much to offer. Very Dated. Friendly service.

What a total dive ... This place is so outdated and poorly maintained. The decor is hideous: a bad Mix of wannabe shabby chick and swiss family Robinson. The carpets look like they are never vacuumed. Walls look like they haven't been painted since the 70s. I honestly think that everything in this place is made of cardboard: the walls, the bed, the pillows. I could hear everyone turning on the fan in their bathrooms and I could hear every conversation in the other rooms because the walls are that paper thin. The beds are old and extremely uncomfortable. I usually travel with my own pillows and forgot on this occassion and I regret it. Their pillows are really flat and firm. The bathrooms don't have sinks in them. It's on the other side of the room for some odd reason. Heating in the restaurant is virtually nonexistent so come bundled up in your ski / snowboarding gear when you come down for your over salted eggs and stale white bread or bagels in the morning. The two stars I give this place is for 1. Location and views. We could see the slopes from our room and your a 1 minute drive to snowshed lodge and the lifts. I wouldn't recommend walking unless you have to though. And 2. Staff was nice - especially the lady working the breakfast in the morning. They do have an outdoor heated pool and it was quite humorous watching people come out into 5 degree weather wearing bikinis and then run barefooted as fast as possible back into the hotel. They have to enter through the bar area and then quickly streak past partygoers trying to get to their rooms. Every time someone ran past in a speedo or bikini, drinkers made some hilarious comments. Brady, the guy singing in the bar, was funny too. This almost made my entire stay. Overall, though, this place is not worth the amount they charge to stay here.

Had a very comfortable two night stay here while skiing in Killington for the weekend. The front desk guys were always very nice and helpful and our room was comfortable and clean. Great location for accessing Killington, literally a one minute drive or there's a free bus that will pick you up and drop you off (titled "The Bus", ha). There's a laundry room downstairs with one washer and dryer - they could probably get a newer more efficient one or invest in one more, because it gets super backed up with a line of people waiting to dry their clothes from the day of snow sports, and the dryer is really small and old so your chances of success are slim, and the nearest laundromat is 10 miles away. Avoid the free breakfast unless you only want white toast or maybe some dry cereal - the hot foods made us feel sick.

The hotel is crazy outdated - straight out of Hot Tub Time Machine; with comforters literally dating back to the 1960's (and haven't been washed since). The first room that we checked into had spots of blood on the shower curtain, one wall, and ceiling fan, and a pubic hair perfectly placed on the bathroom towels. I asked the man at the front desk to come with me to see how dirty and unsanitary the room was. He did, seemed unfazed, and offered me another room down the hall. Which was less unsanitary, because there was no blood. So I accepted it. Bring your own towels and blankets and know that there is no shampoo/conditioner/etc. We got an upgraded room with a fireplace and still felt that it was bare bones; so bring the kitchen sink with you. And know that you are going to pay exorbitant prices for a disgusting room.Otherwise, location wise - this is right across the street from Ramshed. So, if you don't mind dirty; this is the place for you!

Excellent service. The views were Awsome. Our room was comfortable and clean. exactly what you expect for a rustic and casual ski resort. If you are looking for a luxury resort and do not ski or enjoy winter sports I would further north to Stowe. The steakhouse restaraunt was excellent as well. Definetly will be back for ski season as it is right at the foot of the mountain.

Had a very pleasant and comfortable experience. Over the past long weekend, we stayed here two nights while skiing in Mt. Killington. The manager was very hospitable and very responsive to anything we've addressed. Rooms- They were clean and home-y. We upgraded to the deluxe room which included a remote-controlled fireplace and extra-space. Amenities- very much enjoyed the outside heated pool and sauna. was a fun and great experience! Bar- good selection of beers and cocktails. Food was o.k but there was a live band and pool table to be kept entertained! Breakfast- All included. Variety selection of bagels, muffins, toast, waffles, cereal, fruits, eggs, coffee, etc. Location- Best location if you are going to ski Killington. period. The Killington Ramshead parking lot is literally, across the street. You can take the shuttle (free), drive your car or even walk. Will go again in the future. highly recommend to families.

Only reason I give this place +2 stars is the restaurant. Besides that, the staff, the owner (complete Ahole) and the fact the place is in really bad shape. Start over? Might be a good idea. Overall, customer service is totally out the window at this hotel. Treat people with kindness, respect and a smile. No need to be rude. Good luck keeping that business going. "Steak house is outstanding! Try the NY sirloin. Very yummy.

This hotel is quite old, but it is clean and my room was updated. So it might look old from outside, but inside is great. Staff are all nice and attend to my problems immediately. And to my surprise, with the price similar to other hotels far away from the slope, this hotel is really close that I can walk to Snowshed. Even that, the shuttle stops behind the hotel too. My balcony view is also looking at the slopes.
