Best food on the mountain, pricey but you do get sizable portions and yummy roasted garlic and baguette with you meal. We loved out waitress Elissa who was super helpful and great with the suggestions. My filet mignon was pretty tasty and my boyfriends pasta was on point. Also want to say the atmosphere at this place was rustic as warm, great spot for a grown up dinner on our family vacay.

I want to love this place, but I was really under whelmed/ disappointed. Wait: for 3 of us the wait was 1.5 hrs. This seemed crazy! We went to the bar, which was not too packed, but the service was very slow. Bar: we waited a good 20 minutes standing right at the bar to order drinks, the bar was half full. The older gentlemen at the bar were serving drinks 1/hr. Everyone at the bar seemed to be upset how long the drinks were taking. They need to fire these guys and (1) get faster bartenders in there (2) Get more friendly / pleasant bartenders (3) If they aren't fast / friendly, at least get some good looking bartenders. Any one of these options would greatly improve the experience here. Service: The bar area was Gross, they need more bus boys. There was dirty plates all over the place. The side tables could have served as side tables and people would gladly eat there, if they were clean. The place was a mess. The manager & hostesses were very gracious and lovely. The waitress was awesome but the food took forever to come out. Food: Mixed feelings on the food. The apps we had were Awesome. The main course were blah blah. So if you are coming here you might want to stick to drinks and apps, or go the meat route. App we had: Lollypops of Lamb --yum, yum, yum Classic Caprese -nice caprese salad Eggplant Tower --great flavor Main courses: The food was really heavy. I was expecting it to blow my mind with garlic, but instead it just weighed us down and made us ready for bed. The food was also very pricey for what it was. Spunttitori Italiano -not enough meat, no real flavor in the pasta sauce Seafood Italiano --not enough seafood, mostly pasta, not great flavor On the weekends this place needs a lot of work. I would try to come here during the week or on an off time when the service is actually good. The pasta / food courses themselves are too heavy. The apps/meat courses have lots of potential. I would come back here for apps, but skip the dinner and the wait.

Came here again this weekend for dinner with my boyfriend and his mother walked in and was told there is a 1 hour wait for a table so we made our way to the bar. Bar was packed but we were able to score a table in the tapas area. Ordered a few drinks and some tapas. We got the escargot in filo cups again because they are galicy and delicious little creatures and the cilantro lime shrimp. Along with my favorite soup in the world their zuppa de garlic! Cilantro lime shrimp could use both of the lime and cilantro flavoring and I was a little shocked for have them served hot for some reason I imagined it served as more of a chilled shrimp cocktail. For dinner I decided to try something different than my go to tortellini with peas and prosciutto so I went for the chicken picatta. Chicken medallions served over linguine in a white wine lemon sauce. I felt the flavors were lacking on this dish so I added the roasted garlic from the table that they give you with bread and bingo I was in business. The dish tasted much better the next day allowing to absorb all the yummy lemon and wine flavors. I think Ill stick to my go to next time though. Still have yet to try any dessert here but mark my words one day I will get to it!

4 stars just for their brilliant cocktail, the Mexinger! Jalapeno infused Reposado tequila, ginger beer, muddled lime and cilantro... Magic!

Purchased a New York strip steak that was tough and under seasoned. Definitely not worth $30. The service was terrible. Tasha was not friendly, attentive, or helpful. A disappointment as this was my first visit to Vermont.

We came on Valentine's Day, it was busy but we were able to get a seat after only sitting at the bar for about 20 minutes. Lovely, cozy atmosphere, dim lights, DELICIOUS smells. The bar is very nice, spinning liquor rack, pretty much anything you could want to drink. Ordered a Moscow Mule, one of the best I've ever had...and I've had quite a few...fast service too. After just one drink we were seated. We got a whole round booth to ourselves which was romantic and comfortable. The roasted garlic must be sent from heaven. So delicious, warm, garlicky! Even the bread was wayyyy above average. We ordered the mussels, side caeser salad, bocce ball and one of the specials (gnocchi with beef sauce and ricotta cheese). The sauce for the mussels was outrageous, so creamy and the perfect seasoning. The mussels were just perfect, the salad dressing on the caeser was the same, creamy, and just the right amount. The bocce ball is just out of this world, I don't care what kind of food you like. Order it. The gnocchi special also melted my heart, pull apart, tender beef, perfectly seasoned and cooked over expertly cooked gnocchi. (I'll be honest, I was so satisfied and happily full from the appetizers I could only really take about 6 bites before I was full, but it made for perfect leftovers the next day) This place is definitely one of a kind and I would recommend it to anyone. They really nail every aspect of the experience of going out to dinner. I'd give them more stars if Yelp would let me!!!

Severe food poisoning from linguini and clams dish. Called in to report it after we returned to our hotel and didn't even get an apology. A sad ending to an otherwise nice dinner. A horrible feeling to spend good money on a vacation and waste a night by staying in feeling sick and wishing you could throw up even more to make the sickness go away. F-

Second time we've been here and it was so, so not good. Server was fine but...my husband had to send back his food because one it was not what the menu said it was and two it was disgusting. My marsala was fine. Not the worst I've ever had but I wouldn't order it again. I was surprised that after sending back a entree no manager came to see us. My husband was a chef for years and I've done everything from wait tables to manage and I've never seen a less enthused restaurant. Being a local I know Killington is not a great destination as far as food but damn they could try a little!

Great spot in killington's ski town - delicious food and great service - you can hang out at the bar or grab a table, you'll love it either way!

My family and I came here on our summer vacation in July hoping to try a new restaurant in Killington. We were very disappointed in how we were treated by the hostess/servers (I think they wore both hats) when we walked in. We gave a young man our name and number and he mumbled. We sat down and waited for 8 minutes (there was no one else waiting). When I went back up to inquire, he said nothing to me and said to another waitress (right in front of me), 'Did you get to that party of 5?' And she seemed to have no idea what he was talking about. He continued, 'Well can you handle a 5 top?' And she replied with a huff (again, right in front of me!), 'Yeah, I guess so.' They finally sat us outside. It was chilly and the back of the air conditioner was right next to us. We discussed how awkward and unwanted we felt, left, and went to Charity's up the road instead (and got great treatment there).

Long wait, which is to be expected in Killington during ski season. Food was good, not great. Prices were to high for the quality of the food.

This place is so cozy ... I am from NYC and I know good food. The setup here is original and refreshing. After a 6 hour drive coming here was the best choice we had made of the day. They start you off with homemade roasted garlic that you smother ontop of freshly baked bread and then choose from delicious appetizers and meals. The food is a 4 and the atmosphere and hospitality is unsurpassed that's why I'm giving it a 5. The clams for appetizer were to die for! This place is definitely worth a visit after a day on the slopes !

Ate here the other night. The name drew me in because I love garlic. They bartenders took way to long to get my drink but I'll let it slide since it was packed in there. I had the best chicken alfredo ever. The calms in the white sauce was also amazing as well. When I had went there was quick a wait but I would say it's worth it.

WAY too expensive for way below average food. We could have easily made that at home. We ended up sharing 4 appetizers and paid over $100. Atmosphere was not very inviting - including terrible music. The wine was good. Staff was friendly.

My boyfriend and I took a weekend ski trip to Killington. After a hard day on the slopes, we found Italian comfort food at the Garlic. The Garlic provides a romantic and warm atmosphere with intimate booths. It's an ideal spot for an apres ski dinner. Portions are large, so come hungry. The roasted garlic and bread is delicious. I recommend the ravioli bolognese. However, my boyfriend and I were not impressed by the lava cake. We found the cake dry and lacking in "chocolate lava". Service was friendly and attentive. Moderately priced dishes, especially for the area. The menu seems to have something for everyone (as long as you enjoy garlic).

I went here with my boyfriend for dinner on a Thursday evening during our ski vacation. We were seated promptly and our very friendly waitress came over with roasted garlic with olive oil and bread for dipping and took our drink orders. The ambience is cozy yet elegant without being too formal. After looking over the menu, we chose an eggplant tower for an app. It was good but smaller than I expected for $10. For entrees I had one of my usual Italian favorites, penne vodka, and he had chicken alfredo. Both were delicious and the portions were large enough that we both had a decent amount of leftovers. For dessert we had tiramisu, which was a very large piece and was definitely good but far from the best I've had. Overall, it was a very good experience and we will definitely be back during our next Killington visit.

My friends and I came here for dinner after a long day skiing. First off, the service was great, very friendly and accommodating. The garlic spread and baguette that they provide for the table was delicious. The bread came out warm and the garlic was very good - especially with a hint of the balsamic vinaigrette and olive oil that they provide. The portions, as others have mentioned, are generous. The salmon I had was a little overdone, but the potatoes that came as a side were my favorite part. Very well seasoned. Great spot for dinner at Killington!

The garlic+bread starter was so good. The specials were written on a piece of dry lasagna and that kind of drew me in to get one: some kind of beef stew shepard's pie; it was really good. The artichoke dip was delicious as well. Good sangria.

Mmm good! Nice menu!. Even has a Tapas menu that's VVG! Mediterranean/Italian is the fare. The food? Unbelievable! The seafood scampi finally had enough garlic. Lots of good things to try. A must if you want dinner here at Killington Mountain. Open year-round.

We were visiting Killington in the off season and weren't sure we were going to find much for dinner, but we were pleasantly surprised by The Garlic! Service was decent and the food was really good! Clam linguine was a little spicy, but tasty. Complimentary roasted garlic with bread at the beginning of the meal was awesome!

So delicious we loved every tapa we tried! Tuna tar tar and the amazing garlic was wonderful!!! Plus wines from Washington wines made it perfection!!!!

Hands down the worst restaurant and service I've ever had. The place made us wait for 1.5 hours and every time we asked for an update they gave us a terrible response, almost as if we were troubling them. While waiting at the bar, for once again 1.5 hrs, the bartender was acting like the place was never busy before and took 40 mins to give us our first drink. He was running around with his head cut off. This couldn't be more stereotypically bad. If I could give this place a negative review, I would. I'll never come back. I'd strongly suggest checking out Yoshi Sushi or On the Rocks, which are both in the area and far better restaurants.

Some of the best Italian fare I've ever had, and a mellow ambiance to go with it. Perfect dinner spot for a romantic evening, or casual night out with friends. The garlic and bread combo is to die for! My husband ordered the pork oso bucco and I had the cheese ravioli with bolognese sauce. Both were fantastic! The ravioli was creamy, melt-in-your mouth good and the bolognese was seasoned to perfection. Service was friendly and attentive. The Garlic became our go-to dinner spot in Killington!

The only thing worth eating at The Garlic is the roasted garlic appetizer and bread that you get for free. Everything else was completely tasteless and bland, borderline gross, and insanely overpriced for the quality of food. After paying the bill, we tried to salvage the experience by finishing our beer and wine until a passive aggressive waiter basically asked us to leave because there was "an hour wait"...I feel bad for those people waiting an hour for such terrible overpriced food! I understand this is a touristy area and that not many quality dining options exist, but The Garlic is definitely NOT worth it.

We stopped in on a Thursday evening and grabbed a seat at the bar. The menu looked great - we really enjoy dining tapas-style. Plus they had a specialty cocktail menu - big points with me there! We ordered a spare rib dish which was really good, the roasted garlic - yum!, and tuna tartar - not bad. the servers were fine. ambiance nice. we'd definitely return.

Had a family dinner @ the Garlic on 01/02/14. They serve Guinness beer on tap. That's brownie points right there. Many variates of martinis. Great mussels and calamari. Had the 1/2 duck with garlic mashed potatoes. Everything was perfect.

Excellent restaurant and great bar too. I have visited many times over the years and have always found it to be good. Even when busy they seem to get it right. Nice Tapas bar too.

I am forty seven years old and have been skiing at killington for 40 years. I live in New York City with my wife and 2 sons 7 & 9. The Garlic was recommended and we dined there tonight. The Garlic, which most definitely smells like garlic, served us average pasta and bland chicken Marsala tonight. Setting our expectations appropriately, as we live in the city, we ordered Alfredo for our 9 year old, spaghetti and meatballs for our 7 year old and chicken Marsala and mixed meat pasta for my wife and me. We started with 2 mountain dews for the kids and a bottle of prosecco for my wife and me. My wife, of central american descent, is used to the standard nuanced racism delivered to her, and Matt, our waiter was no exception. Asking me what she wanted, never addressing her directly and demonstrating clear disdain comes with the territory. After my wife addressed our waiter directly for more wine (a bottle on ice at our table) our waiter refused, removed the bottle as well as our glasses and announced we were drunk and were not to be served. Flabbergasted, I asked to see the manager, after the manager (Craig) appeared, he said that Matt the waiter said we were drunk and when I denied, he said he would call the police. As I was 1.25 glasses of bad sparkling wine, I encouraged him to do so. He quickly changed his tune and said we would not pay for the bottle and that we should leave. Racism in the country is alive and well, and exposing my 2 young children to public humiliation is shameful and bad for business for this wonderful resort community. The "Matts" of the world should not be supported by the "craigs" of the world, and even though these local sheltered Caucasian service folks are uncomfortable serving minorities, they should adjust. Shame on the Garlic and shame on Craig for allowing their service personal for letting his uneducated small minded behavior be acceptable in the establishment. My wife and my children were humiliated tonight for the first time in 40 years. Shame on you Garlic.

Tapas: great bar ambiance and half price before 6 (not sure about Saturdays though) Ravioli Bolognase: First time I had it here, and was impressed. Very meaty sauce with chunky tomatoes. Excellent ravioli with a tangy, creamy, dense cheese filling that is like no other. 10 out of 10. Slow service, understaffed, but knowledgeable and friendly. Bread and Garlic still a great touch. Side of spinach was way too small a portion. Stupid small. Please fix this. Nicely done though, tart, and of course, garlicy.

The food here is great... For garlic lovers!! They give u a whole garlic clump to eat with your bread!! So good Definitely get the mussels and clams for appetizers! The clam sauce was so good that I almost just drank it... Portions are large... Def a bit expensive but at least you get full... I think it'd be possible to family style it too and still get full Another must try is the garlic soup I would recommend this place if you don't mind being a bit baller and/or you want an intimate ambience

In the midst of abundant restaurants to eat on the Killington access road, one wouldn't think to go to The Garlic with the likes of Wobbly Barn, Baja Burrito, Sushi Yoshi, and Moguls. But after a recommendation from a friend, I knew I finally had a reason to check this place out. So our party rolls in at 6pm on a Saturday evening and the restaurant is only a few tables occupied, so we are able to grab the long community table that runs lengthwise across half the restaurant. The ambiance of this restaurant is very rustic and dark-lit, almost too dark that your eyes may go blurry eyed from time to time, and make you fall asleep. It's cozy feeling definitely plays the Vermont attitude. Service was great as our waitress took the time to explain dishes very well, refill drinks, and clear dishes. Throughout our meal, she was very attentive on checking up on us if we needed anything else. To start, we were given several cutting boards, each consisting of a long narrow loaf of Italian-like bread, and a small dish of whole roasted garlic in oil sitting on a bed of Parmesan Cheese. And when I saw whole roasted, I mean 2-3 bulbs of garlic, each consisting of about 10-14 cloves of garlic. Slice the bread, put a piece of garlic and parmesan cheese on, and mmm mmmm delicious! But after a while, the garlic definitely starts to overpower your palate when you are 6-8 garlic cloves in. For apps, I tried the Zuppa de Garlic ($5.95 bowl) which is a creamy house soup of roasted garlic and cubes of potato. Very very garlicy, and after having a few cloves of garlic, this soup, although very delicious, can be a bit overbearing. But then let's remind ourselves this place is called The Garlic afterall. Calamari Ala Pepperoncini ($9.95) - lightly dusted in pecorino romano cheese, fried and tossed with a garlic infused olive oil, lemon juice and pepperoncini sauce. This is the appetizer to get, the calamari is perfectly fried so that it holds the perfect firmness without being overly chewy. The pepperonici tomato sauce was light but added just the right amount of tartness. Chicken Roulade ($20.95) - breaded boneless chicken breast, pan-seared and stuffed with goat cheese and cream cheese, spinach, garlic, and fresh herbs, served on a bed of linguini and puttanesca sauce. The chicken breast was beyond dry, almost unbearable to eat. Every piece I put in my mouth, I just felt like gagging of dryness. The goat cheese and cream cheese was barely noticeable except for a hint of the spinach. The linguini in the puttanesca sauce was good, adding a note of spiciness from the tomato sauce and saltiness from the olives and capers, to an otherwise bland dish. I also tried a the Prime Rib ($25.95) special, which was bland and boring. Tender and perfectly cooked, but no seasonings or rubs at all, made for a very boring cut of meat. But the real hit of the night was the Pork Osso Buco, a slow roasted pork shank braised in a portobello mushroom shallot sauce served over garlic mashed potatoes. This is the omgosh, I think I'm having an orgasm dish that is a must try. Tender, juicy pork falling off the bone, in a very subtle sweet sauce. Yum!! When I'm spending $30+ for a meal, I expect a quality meal. I would consider this place a hit or miss with my two favorites being the Calamari Ala Pepperoncini for an appetizer and the Pork Osso Buco for a main entree. For the price, there are much better alternatives. Other random tidbits: - Beers will bring you down $4.50 / pint - For larger groups, tip is not automatically included in the bill - For larger groups, the bill can be split among several credit cards

Late on Sunday evening, we were looking for a great place to enjoy a light meal and were lured into The Garlic by the lights on and tapas listed on the sign. We entered in The Garlic front door, but quickly learned we really wanted The Olive bar so we could enjoy the tapas menu. Here's what we ended up ordering: Baguette with Garlic & Parmesan -Free Roasted Olives with Rosemary & Garlic -$2.50 Five Cheese Artichoke and Sundried Tomato Dip with Crustini - $4.50 Aged Provolone & Gorgonzola Cheese with Imported Amarena Cherries & Flatbread - $6.00 Lamb Chops with housemade blueberry jam and chevre cheese - $7.00 $4 Special- BBQ Mini Osso Bucco $5 Special- Seared sausage with whole grain mustard Tropical martini- $8 Dunkel Beer- $6 The garlic that's served with baguette isn't as pungent as you'd expect from a place called garlic, but rather mild and subtle in flavor (could also be the out of season selection.) Service was excellent, atmosphere was great, and I enjoyed their choice in ambient music (acoustic indie rock). A great place for a date or a night out with friends!

Oh Killington how I love you. I really don't see how this place can be rated less than 4 stars in any city to be honest but hey, gotta respect everyone's opinions right?:) George Maha and I arrived for an early dinner around 630 on a Friday night and we were seated right away. The booth we got was right near the window so we could see the Pickle Barn across the highway. That should have given us a clue that it was empty that early...and alluded to the fact that showing up at 830 would not be a good idea...but more on that in the review titled "Pickle Barn", I digress... Here we took the advice of our fellow yelpers and although hungry, focused on our main dishes rather than be tempted to order too much. We picked a martini each and I settled on the bocce ball of deliciousness, while George picked the mini osso bucco with sausage and pasta and maha chose the rigatoni with bolognese. Our server was amazingly friendly and nice, and our waters were always full and martinis arrived and their perfection checked on promptly. I do not recall the name of mine, but it had a kick to it, as well as a sour punch and it was excellent, while maha opted for a sweet one with baileys and George went for the Razzputin. They have such a range of options you simply cannot go wrong. The warm bread with roasted garlic-ohhhh yum!!! As for the food itself, I'm glad I only ordered a main, because with the exception of the manly man among us, we could not finish our plates. I did order the bocce ball, 16 oz. of meat I know, but even the three of us could not get through half of it. That said it was INCREDIBLE. It's one of the best meatballs I have ever had, and that is comparing to the Meatball Shoppe and Rye (S. WIlliamsburg) in NYC. Maha's rigatone was equally delicious, and although George's osso bucco was a little bit dry, the rest of the dish was perfect. We packed up the rest of the dishes in one huge to go container, and opted for the peanut butter chocolate deadly thing for dessert. It was good but not amazing, and overall the meal was affordable and yummy. Definitely a must do when in town. Which we are- a lot:).

We had a great dinner at the garlic. Amazing variety of food, and fabulous waitress...and the roasted garlic and fresh bread, cheese and olive oil are worth any wait. Good wine list great local beer selection. The deserts are even awesome. This place rocks!

On a Friday evening in late February, the place was packed with a 45-minute wait at 7:45pm. Bar scene was great, but one server got annoyed as we were standing by the two 'door's that leads into the restaurant. Pretty stupid placement for that, as there was no where else to stand. Nonetheless, The Garlic was one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. The place smells delicious of you guessed it...garlic! Our server, Mariah, was most welcoming and attentive. I especially appreciated her awareness of the severity of food allergies. She went above and beyond to make our party of 7 very happy. The food is out of this world. Do not waste your time on the soup though...too large and creamy and filling, with all of the other great appetizers to be had here. Mussels were great. Pasta dishes were prepared very nicely. Oh, and the soft, crusty, warm bread served with fresh garlic in the beginning is outta this world! For delicious food, reasonable prices, and a fun atmosphere for all, visit The Garlic!

The garlic is truly a good restaurant. It has great ambiance and quality food. I had the pork osso buco and it was a great dish. Different from the traditional osso buco, but delicious in its own right. I would return here anytime.

Good food but service at bar was terrible! Old bartender was mean and rude, took order of drinks once and never checked back with us, we wanted to order food, more drinks but 4 girls with chairs at the bar was just not noticeable enough, he was a good mood killer for so e time Finally after 1.30 wait we got the table. Waited was nice, food was good, the starter bread with garlic -- yumm to die for. My 2 of my friends had Mahi Mahi, shrimp scampi and salad. P.s. after my friend mentioned bad service at the bar we were not charged for drinks there...

We ordered the Bruschetta appetizer, Osso Bucco and the Spuntitori; we would have ordered dessert but were so full and satisfied that we decided to skip it. I frankly don't understand the negative reviews I've read here regarding the food. Everything we ordered was delicious and beautifully presented. I realize most of the negative comments had to do with long waits for a table and poor service, though that was not our experience either. We arrived around 7:00 p.m. on the Friday of President's Day weekend to find a 30 minute wait for a single table, which seems reasonable for this area; large parties, of course, should expect to wait longer as the restaurant will have to pull together multiple tables to accommodate them. As for our waiter, he was attentive, helpful, and on his game. Overall, we had a great experience and would not hesitate to come back here again.

Amazing! If you are staying at The Grand skip their restaurant and go to Garlic. A mix of a home cabin and five star restaurant. All the waiters were great and provided great recommendations. We love their garlic and bread appetizer that they provide. We also ordered the fire roasted olives that can be shared with three people. Highly recommended.

A large group of us (12) went for dinner one night during our recent family vacation. We tried to get reservations, but they didn't accept them, so we arrived to find out that there was an approximately 45-minute wait. While standing around waiting for our table, my dad struck up conversation with one of the guys making salads and appetizers ... next thing we knew, he had whipped us up a huge complimentary bruschetta to eat while we waited. YUM! Talk about making our wait more enjoyable :-) Once we were seated, we were brought loaves of tasty bread and dishes of roasted garlic to mash on the bread. YUM, again! The fiancee ordered their signature garlic soup, which I enjoyed by she didn't (she later clarified that she hadn't disliked the soup itself but rather the garlic flavor, a problem she had with her main dish as well). I ordered a great salad, and the shrimp scampi for dinner. Yum. My cousin ordered the 16 oz. meatball (made from filet mignon!), and it was great (there are pictures of the meatball in the photos section). Overall, really great restaurant.

This place really hits the spot after a long day of skiing Killington. The food is hearty and portions are substantial and very well-prepared. Meat lovers...try the Osso Bucco! You won't be disappointed! The bread and roasted garlic spread served at every table (surprisingly, not overly garlicky at all, but even a bit sweet) are delicious! You cut the freshly-baked savory loaf yourself (crunchy on the outside and warm and soft in the middle), and the garlic spread - a roasted head of garlic with peel and all, cut in half - melts like butter on your bread knife. And the specials are handwritten on an uncooked lasagna noodle...nice touch! They also have a variety of beers on tap and bottled, from the microbrewed to the big leaguers, and a very good wine list. The ambience featured very dim lighting with a medium noise level the night my girlfriend and I were there on a weekend, and the hostess accommodated our seating request without a problem even though the restaurant was pretty full. Speaking of...the parking lot seems ample from the street, but if you're there at peak times, you may have to circle around a few times to find a spot. This place fills up. Service was friendly and timely, and our waitress was very knowledgable about everything on the menu. The first time I ate here was about 8 years ago, and it was great then, too. It's nice to see The Garlic is better than ever! Great for anyone from young couples to families with well-behaved children. Highly recommend!

Went on a Saturday of a holiday weekend so expected a wait. Was to an hour to an hour and a half when arrived for a party of two (they do not take reservations). After patiently waiting at the over-crowded bar for an hour and forty five minutes, we checked in with the unfriendly hostess, and she responded, as if it was a bother, that 8 tables were still ahead us, estimating another forty five minute wait time. A two and a half hour wait for a table of two is absurd but we were also shocked that a "staple" of killington has such a hard time estimating the wait time during busy season. Would consider trying again but the thought of dealing with the rude host may hold us back.

Just as I remembered the Garlic doesn't disappoint. The seafood italiano was amazing and the scallops were melt in your mouth delicious. The waitstaff was also fantastic. It was an excellent overall experience and we'll be going back for more again soon.

Question: why name a restaurant the Garlic? Answer: the Garlic is the Mecca for all garlic-ophiles When you first walk into the foyer, a table with fresh baked garlic bread and oven roasted whole cloves soaking in oil are sitting there to greet you. These are strong indications for the meal soon to follow once you're seated. The menu at the Garlic has a great array of pasta, chicken, and meat dishes; all of which read beautifully on the menu as they are rich with ingredients and culinary thought. There is a very well crafted Martini menu as well to complement the food. This is a wonderful place to get dinner with any reasonably sized group, priced at about $25-30 per person for a full meal. Include it on your itinerary when you're visiting Killington for a nicer meal out of the lodge!

Even though the early season skiing at Killington has sucked, my food experiences haven't. I went to Garlic with one other person after a day of skiing. We were seated almost immediately, though it took a while for a hostess to notice us up front. Water was brought right away and refills were constant, which was appreciated after not keeping hydrated on the slopes. The bread with oven roasted garlic was unique. The garlic could be peeled, smashed and spread on the bread. When mixed with olive oil or balsamic vinegar, it was very nice. We only ordered entrees. The restaurant was pretty busy, but the food came in a timely fashion. Both of our choices were very good (both pasta dishes). The portions were enormous enough to eat dinner again the next day. For a ski resort area, the prices weren't too bad, especially considering the portions. Garlic is definitely worth visiting on your next trip to Killington.

Visiting this restaurant on the busiest night of the year was a bad mistake. We had to wait 90 mins for a table so decided to wait at the bar. The bar service was good, we ordered some tapas which were nice. We were soon seated, our waitress asks us 20 minutes later if we were ready to order, I had to explain that it's hard to order when we don't have menu's! She looked a bit embarrassed and instead of apologizing, blamed a different waitress. 30 minutes later our food order was in. Another 30 minutes later our food arrived but we didn't have anything on the table to eat it with! Once again I explain that some cutlery would be nice. I appreciate cavemen didn't use knives and forks, neither do Mcdonalds, but when I'm paying $40 a head I expect some decent service. Our drinks were empty at this time and at no point throughout the evening were we offered more. I appreciate it's the busiest weekend of the year in this little town, but I can't find excuses for this terrible service. Ok so now for the food. The Tapas at the bar was the best part. The Wings, meatball sliders and humus were nice. As for the main meals though, I think Gordon Ramsey would slam a plate over the head chef's face. My Bocce looked like a Rhino's testicle. There is no way anyone could eat this huge ball. It was too heavy and big. Several smaller ones would had been just fine. It's not about quantity it's about quality. Nobody else in my party seemed happy with their meals either. We will not be visiting here again.

Came here on a weekend trip to Killington before heading out to the bars. Sat in the bar area to order some "tapas." They have a good selection. You basically fill out the menu with how many you want of each. They were all fine - nothing too great. Reason for the 2 stars mainly was because of our server. Yeah I get it, it was a busy Friday night. But he walked by our table about 10 times ignoring the fact that our filled out menu was sticking out waiting for him to take. When we finally tapped him to hand it to him - he legitimately stopped, glared at us, and gave the dirtiest look I've ever seen a server give. To the point that I was pretty worries that something was going to find it's way into our food. If you don't like your job then quit. Don't be rude to your customers- geesh.

The only good thing about a meal at the Garlic is the free roasted garlic and bread they serve you before you order. That stuff is delicious. Everything else on the menu is bland bland bland. I expect these kind of restaurants to overcharge for their food, after all you're stuck in this ski town and have nowhere else to eat, but come on! Simple pasta dishes should not cost close to $20! And for a restaurant with garlic in the title I was really expecting some flavor, and none of our 5 dishes delivered, both times I've eaten here.

Really good food and really good drinks. Major issue is that they do not take reservations so you can end up waiting up to 1.5 hours for dinner, which is insaneeeeee and I would never do. Also the service could be better, it took the waitress 20minutes to get our drink orders booooo!!! Otherwise the food is excellent if I would recommend one appetizer it would be the clams. They are to die for.

I wasn't expecting great italian food in vermont, being from new york, but this place surprised me. better than any other food we've had in killington. Seafood and pasta cooked perfectly, not over done. A little pricey, but worth it since the portions were so large. friendly service, owner greeted us, overall good experience.

We would have given this a 4 star but it has been slipping as of late. It used to be our favorite but not anymore: plusses: garlic w/ bread at the table, apps are great but $$$. Entrees are put together well. The italian and seafood dishes are very good. The lamb was placed at mkt price at $42 for the entree and $20 for the app. No thank you when you can get the same lamb at the rocs for $35.

The hostess should not be working in customer service. Raised her voice at us and told us to get out of her face and that the conversation was over when we asked to see her manager. She then directed us to a busser and claimed he was the manager. She's quite possibly racist. Enough said.

We finally got to try this place out this weekend. Last couple of trips we came, there was a 90-120 min wait and we were too hungry to wait after a long day of snowboarding. As we sat down, the waitress brought us bread and a plate of roasted garlic. the garlic was really smooth and buttery, i can almost eat it by itself. The bread was ok, not the best bread I've had but accompanied by the garlic and olive oil, it was delicious. We also had fried calamari for appetizer, it was also really well made. It was crispy and not chewy, cooked perfectly. For the main course, I have the pasta with sausage, meatballs and osso bucco. I gotta say, the osso buco was amazing. The meat just falls off the bone, it was so tender. I loved the dish but the next time i come, i'm definitely getting the osso buco. The only problem with this place is when you walk out, you breath will be kicking. Make sure you bring plenty of gum. I am not a big fan of killington mountain, but now that I've discovered Garlic, I will definitely be back.... for garlic ofcourse.

My group of friends had the worst experience here. The hostess that night was rude from the beginning, but she only became worse as the night went on. It was a busy Saturday night, so my party was told to wait for an hour. We happily conversed in the waiting room, enjoying each other's company and ambience for the hour. After an hour and a half, we finally asked the hostess when our table would be ready. She responded with a complete, utter lie: that they had called our names twice earlier, but no one was in the waiting room... There were several of us, and we had all been in the waiting room the entire time. They had never called out name, and the waiting room was certainly not empty-- ever. Of course we were upset, but the hostess only made things worse when she told us that we should leave. When we asked to speak with the manager, he too was exceptionally rude. He actually "re-enacted" what he had "done earlier" by shouting our reservation name into the waiting room. Of course we heard him that time-- because he had actually done it-- and yet he still insisted that he had called our name himself and saw no one in the waiting room. Blatant lies are AWFUL, and both the hostess and manager may as well have spat in our faces they were so rude. Our group left after a dispute with those people, and we will never return. The Garlic is staffed by truly insufferable people who know nothing of customer service or restaurant management. We were appalled.

Went here mid week when it wasn't too busy. The decor is nice and our server was great. Food was just okay, nothing special. It was expensive for not being that great. Pasta dishes all hovered around $20. Drive the extra distance to go to Pasta Pot. Everything is homemade and a bit better then this place.

The Garlic is one of the best restaurants in the Killington area. Great atmosphere, great martinis (expresso, and lemoncello), great food (osso bucco) and great service by our server Matthew. What else can you ask for? I will definitely go back when I am up near Killington again.

Garlic is our favorite restaurant in Killington. It has a very nice log cabin ambiance, and the wax table is cool. We had a bottle of wine, always good, and they brought out hot Italian bread (kind of)--with roasted garlic. A little olive oil and its a great started. We got the calamari, they have a great sauce and I even like the pickled banana peppers in it I've never had calamari like that before but it was our second time ordering it. In the past I had the bocce ball which is a meatball the size of a bocce ball over pasta. Definitely good slightly more of a novelty. This time I had a pasta which was cooked perfectly (al dente) which had osso buco, meatballs, and sausage. Very good I would have liked the sausage to be a little spicier but it was all cooked perfectly. My girlfriend had the ravioli in a spicy meat sauce. It was good not greasy and also not as spicy as we would have liked. She loved it personally I like the ricotta to be a little drier. The service was great and we were there during a weekday so there was no wait but on the weekends have a snack before hand and be ready to have a beer or two because it can be a hour to 2 hours wait. It's worth it. I'm pointing out that we are both Italians from Brooklyn who eat at great restaurants in the city, but besides that who grew up with Italian food at home. They definitely get 4 stars. Not creative, not nyc food with small servings and more decoration then food, but good big plates smothered in good sauce.

I ordered a steak. $25 steak, asked for medium. First time came out SUPER rare. I mean bright red in the middle. I sent it back, and it came back out STILL bright red in the middle with the outside a little burn. I sent it back 2nd time, thinking they might have to give me a new steak. NOPE. It came back out with the same steak BURNT on the outside and still only medium rare in the middle. And no discount offer or anything. I still pay full price on a burn steak I sent back twice. Also, they added an extra entree we didn't order on our bill! Good thing we check and caught it. Not recommended for the price you pay!

Uniquely fresh roasted garlic used to paste your complimentary bread! Just delicious! The pasta was also good(had chicken marsela with mushroom dish and seafood dish) but the place is noted for it's delicious water and garlic! Great service from the owner and it's staff! Very peaceful setting.

The atmosphere and the service here are great, though I found the food to be slightly disappointing. Rustic, charming, lively dining room. This place feels like Vermont without feeling like they left it untouched for 50 years. Our waitress was incredibly sweet and attentive (I think her name was Varnia) and put a smile on our faces whenever she came by. We greatly enjoyed the bread with whole cloves of garlic steeped in olive oil and parmesean. However, I found the menu to be a little uninspired, without anything that really jumped out at me to justify the prices (as other readers have noted, $20 for conventional pasta is a little steep). The portions are large, however, and we left full. I would still return, though, as conversations with others later in the night revealed that the tapas at the bar are the best offerings, and we did enjoy the time we spent there.

Oven roasted garlic soaked in butter.... to be smeared onto your complimentary bread, is simply heaven! After a long day on the cold mountain, Garlic provides you with warm comfort food that it cannot be beat. See you soon, Garlic!

"went here a few weeks ago when I went snowboarding with some friends. loved it! the bread and garlic is awesome" I wrote the above back in January when we were up at Killington and never finished the review so just getting back to it. I remember the food was good not great and a little pricey. We loved the bread though! Would definitely go back to try other items on the menu.

I would give 3.5 stars if possible. The roasted garlic spread was delicious. We had three appetizers, all great - the lamb, the clams, and the caprese salad. Lamb was cooked perfectly and the goat cheese and blueberries really kicked up the flavor. The clams were swimming in a delicious sauce that was so good, I asked for more bread to soak it up. The caprese was average. For dinner we had the chicken piccata and the NY strip steak. The chicken was seasoned very well. I thought the steak was too salty, but, it was cooked to a perfect medium rare as requested. I thought the desserts, tiramisu and the raspberry cheesecake, left a little to be desired, but, not awful Martinis were good. My husband enjoyed a couple and I couldn't even finish mine bc it was too strong, so, for some that might be a plus. Considering the number of courses we had, and the place wasn't too busy, they still timed each course perfectly. Enough time to enjoy each plate and take a moment before the next. We were disappointed that the tapas menu was only available at the bar. Overall, we would go back.

SO delicious! The tapas are amazing and everything was very good and was so different from the same old restaurant. The service was helpful and very friendly! I will definitely go back if I'm ever at Killington. It was a little on the expensive side but worth it. My boyfriend and I talk about how delicious this restaurant was all the time!

I went to 'the garlic' based on recommendations from other skiiers and boarders, so I gave it a try. I went on a tuesday night at 6:30pm, after Presidents day so there were no issues with waiting for a table etc. When you walk in, you're hit with..you guessed it..that beautiful smell of garlic. Our server was friendly. We ordered a bottle of Napa Valley Pinot Noir which was very good ($30). When the bottle arrived, the waiter had a hot baguette and a whole head of roasted garlic. Yum. The garlic was obviously roasted for a while and all you had to do was squeeze it to get to the brown, sweet garlic. We cut up the bread and spread the garlic on it. Dellish. Enough said. We ordered the bruschetta as an appetizer. It was the same bread, perfectly toasted and smothered with fresh tomato, parmigiano regiano shavings, parsely, oil and balsamic. Very good. We also ordered Caesar salads. Pretty good. They gave you the option of having anchovies or not. My friend ordered lasagna bolognese and I ordered the Pork Osso Bucco. The portions were huge. In retrospect, if I knew the entrees were that big, I wouldn't have ordered apps and salads. The bread and entrees would have been plenty. The lasagna bolognese was a mountain of food. My buddy enjoyed it and took half of it home. The pork Osso Bucco was pretty good. They definitely cooked it the right way..It was fall of the bone tender. I felt that it was short on flavor. The sauce was thin and had mushrooms in it, but not worthy of the way they cooked it. I also took half of my entree home. I will definitely come back next year to try something new. The garlic is a solid choice for dining at Killington.

I really like this place, I come here everytime I had to Killington. I am actually surprised about some of the negative reviews since they have been fairly consistent for me. I like their pasta, especially the one with the spinach, goat cheese and roasted red peppers. The staff is very nice and helpful. They have a large bar area which can get busy but overall a nice place to sit and have a drink. I highly recommend The Garlic, I didn't find the menu to be expensive and others and found all of my experiences positive!

BEWARE OF THIS RESTAURANT!!! I and others I know have had my card charged $300 on top of my bill!!!! Food is not worth the money to begin with, but then they did this and were rude and took over a week to refund my money!!!!

this place has become a fav for my wife and i every time we come to killington. the food is always delish. recently had the chicken marsala and was not disappointed in the least bit. you can't forget about the fresh garlic served with bread. service is good seeing as they are always busy(during the season). get there early, & don't say i didn't warn you because it gets packed pretty quick, especially on weekends and holidays. prices are fair and its very family friendly... just leaving a comment about this place is bringing back that aroma of roasted garlic when you first walk in.... well enjoy........

I rarely get excited to write a review for a restaurant but Garlic lives up to my expectations. The place looks really nice on the inside and the intricate lighting fixtures , beamed ceiling, wooden interior decoration all combined together create a really nice ambiance. The service was impeccable and our waiter was very helpful to the point of making recommendations but not being unnecessarily pushy. We got a calamari appetizer , a succulent roasted pork dish which came with mashed potatoes and mushroom gravy , and a pasta dish with clams. The size of the portions was huge, and we could barely eat half of them. Everything tasted really good. The calamari was fresh and tender, and it came in light seasoning mixed with pieces of pickled peppers . The complimentary dish of garlic spread with a warm baguette was a nice addition as well. I definitely recommend this place and will come back.

Huge fans of the Garlic. Go at least once a ski season, always have a great meal. Steaks are always awesome, and recently had an osso bucco that was just to die for. Super friendly staff, good wine list and affordable drinks. They are very serious about the garlic, though. Don't go if you don't like garlic, and lots of it.

IMO The bar is the best option: Tapas plus full menu. Tapas range from $2-$6 and are worth the price. 2 people can share 7-10 Tapas and leave satisfied. Look for the Tapa specials and enjoy the aroma wofting from the kitchen.

Terrible, consistently the worst food on the Killington access road. My brother and I both ordered the clams bianco as an appetizer and half of them were bad. We sent them back and told them we didn't want the Linguini with White Clam Sauce that we ordered as our main courses as we didn't want more bad clams. They seemed annoyed so we ordered simple chicken dishes which were nasty. You are playing Russian roulette with 6 bullets in the gun if you eat at this place, don't waste your time as there are much better places on the access road! Sorry guys! pay attention to the food you're serving, its really not that hard to smell spoiled shellfish...

Love food, drinks, and the staff are extra friendly. Even when there's' a two year old involved. However, not sure why they don't open at 4 (as opposed to 5). I was there last month and really disappointed when I tried to get in at 4 for happy hour on a Thursday.

Great meal, good people, and garlic! The place is dark and cozy, while it was snowing outside we drank wine and enjoyed the best garlic dip I have ever had. Some people might think it was expensive.....even though it was reasonable, but really? you are in a ski town on an access road, what did you expect things to cost?

This is my favorite place to eat when visiting Killington. The ambiance is exactly what you want when you've been skiing/snowboarding all day and its cold and dark outside: warm, friendly, eclectic and alive. The place smells amazing. You have to watch out because they stop serving the full menu after 9PM, but the tapas menu is wonderful, too. You'll feel like you're getting more out of your dollar, though, with an entree dinner. I've eaten here twice with groups and the service has been great. There is also an excellent beer and wine list and the servers I've had have been very knowledgeable and helpful. I will continue to return here year after year.

Good food! Garlic bread is awesome my fish was overlooked a little but seasoned very well. The bar staff is terrible, inwork in the business so I can see bad service for what it is... They had a very busy night, so could careless to give good hospitality to some customers (mind u we had seats at the bar but couldn't get service for a good hour, I was so stunned as I watched them have conversations with people they knew but chose to ignore some select customers (not sure why ) !! So much money lost we cud have had 2 rounds and an appetizer, by the time we got sat the whole night was ruined for us ) the older male bartender was blatantly rude to me , I asked if I did something wrong and he yelled "yeah" (I ordered 3 glasses of wine and a soda , not even hard obnoxious cocktails for me and my girlfriends and he was angry) he asked for ID which I don't mind it's flattering since I'm in my 30s .... But then he continued with the nasty nasty attitude and refused to even acknowledge us. None of the bartenders really know how to give good service but he was the worst, he should take a refresher course to remind him the customers are literally his "bread and butter". They seemed busy, but apparently were able to chit chat and sip on sodas with other customers and each other. I have been bartending for 11 years and managed for 5 , at a very busy restaurant in metropolitan area, I'd never tolerate an unpleasant, cocky staff that they had at the bar . The waiters were definitely very hospitable, and smiled! the management even seemed pretty good. Overall I will never return here bc I like sitting at the bar over a table And I found few other really good restaurant that I enjoyed a lot better in the area. All I wanted was a drink and some food .... I understand maybe not a smile... But c'mon straight out disrespectfulness to me and friends, when we barely even opened our mouths, we were so nice and smiled when we got ID'd, ugh maybe bc we all had thick accents that's the only way I can make sense why, i saw some other group of two male foreigners get angry also bc they werent orovided ith service... Terrible ... I hope I'm wrong and maybe they chose to be rude to us bc we may have been " new customers" ... I highly doubt it tho, I wasn't born yesterday

Pasta was good and reasonably priced (considering it's Killington). As was the carafe of wine in the rooster pitcher. Staff was attentive. All in all a good meal.

Everything here seemed over-priced, and too rich or off-flavored. I really, really wanted to like The Garlic. I'm a big garlic fan, and the funky interior with its large melted candle collection and bulbs of garlic everywhere screamed 'get ready to enjoy tons of garlic.' I didn't get that from the food. It isn't as if I haven't opened my mind to The Garlic, because I've been there twice and both times the food was only mediocre at best. I don't know what it is...the waiters are always friendly, and I want it to be work out, but it just doesn't. Sorry, Garlic.

we went back again because our experience on saturday night was so amazing. it didn't disappoint at all. the service was awesome and friendly. the bread was warm and yummy but the fresh roasted garlic was even better. Tonight we had the calamari to start. It wasn't' greasy, chewy or to crunchy. Some of the best calamari i've had in a long time. I had the wild mushroom linguine this time and the shrimp and scallop scampi last time, both were delicious. the kids menu was not extensive but good enough. the chicken fingers and fries were amazing and the linguini and meatballs were delicious and not bland like most places. enjoyable for all!

  • Glenn G.

This place has good apps, but it's way overpriced for what you get if it's not happy hour (which isn't offered on Saturdays FYI). I'll probably stop in during hh again, but otherwise there are better options.

    (3)
  • Nick B.

The Garlic has some of the best food around Killington. The atmosphere is pretty interesting too... There is a huge wax candle when you enter and there is usually plenty of seating. If you plan on going on a Saturday night be prepared to wait The food portions are moderately sized and they have a variety of interesting and traditional Italian dishes. And of course you can forget the best part... dipping your bread in a huge bulb of oven roasted garlic. I would suggest the Puttenesca and I would stay away from the chocolate martini. Overall, I would recommend it . The food is slightly overprices but it is probably comparable to other restaurants around Killington. If you pay with your debit card, be sure to keep your receipt - I have had two waiters try to increase their tip.

you get a whole clove of garlic before you even see a menu, this is a no brainer!

    (4)
  • Charlie M.

The food is good for a ski town, but thats about it. Very over-priced, and the selection is nothing much when you come from the NY Metro area and we have selection, selection, selection. Bad Italian food aside. The warm garlic and bread plate is excellent as a pre dinner snack, and goes great with a nice local micro brew. The wait staff seems to be off somewhere else. (I have been there 5 times, and its been the same every time, my friends insist on going) I will say the appetizers have their moments of goodness, but you would think they accept the Euro at this place. Go for the drinks and the people watching, then run across the access road for dinner.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
